Oh my, where to begin with this one. I am very nervous to let this one out of the safe embrace of my stories folder on my laptop and into the public, but I think I am finally satisfied with it. This has been in the works since…June(??) of 2022? Sometime around then? It has been my baby ever since. One plot bunny of an image of an angry Satine at a ball and 6,000 words later…here we are with quite possibly my favorite Obitine one-shot yet. It is best read while listening to some moody music, perhaps “Silver Springs” by Fleetwood Mac, or “Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve” by Taylor Swift…Set post-Rako Hardeen arc, at a senate gala. I don’t want to reveal too much, but put yourself in a dark, betrayed, rainy, maroon mood, and settle in for the yearning that is Obitine. *cries* Posting for Satine Week Day 6: “Mercy” (also please let me know what you all think of this fic in the comments, I am uncharacteristically nervous posting this!) @satineweek

Instead of doing really lengthy pieces this week for Satine Week, I did little snippets or drabbles that act as companion content for "Echo" and "Asphodel," but can stand as quick reads on their own. Satine Week

Hello, friends! It's Jess! I'm your friendly neighborhood mod for Satine Week this year, but I'm also hoping to participate. Unfortunately ... (gestures all around) life.

But now that a big work project is done and I'm back home two states over and Easter is done (He is risen!), Satine Week is the biggest thing on my radar this week. I'm hoping to do a bit of writing, but also update some old metas and write some new ones.

Thanks so much to those who have already participated! Also, if (gestures all around) life is also keeping you from creating new fic or art, I encourage you to put it out of your mind! We're just here to celebrate a pacifist duchess, so feel free to share gifs and screencaps and posts about your favorite things about Satine and anything like that!

DAY 1: Jewel

Quote prompts: “When your life is on display, you cherish the things that are yours alone.”

As she approaches, his gaze slides along her body several times, almost without stopping. To her great regret, he clenched his hands, which were previously hanging loosely at his hips, into fists, but as soon as she stops in front of him he unclenches it with an exhalation.

“To be honest, I’m still not sure that this is a bracelet,” while Satine, lifting her sleeve, unfastens the beskar clasp on the leather cord, his attentive gaze doesn't leave her wrist. “My father wore his around his neck, and my mother… I don’t know. I’ve never seen it.”

“Me too,” Obi-Wan responds quietly and, when her eyebrows arch questioningly, he explains: “If one of your parents gave it to you personally, then you could only receive it before… before we met. But I didn't see this one. Never.”

“When your life is on display, you cherish the things that are yours alone. Cherish and hide. Here,” with the clasp finally is done, and she hands him the leather cord with a smile. “I wish you had it.”

“What?” blinking in surprise, he even retreats. “I… I can’t accept it.”

She squints suspiciously, still holding her hand outstretched.

“You said that Jedi are not forbidden to accept a gifts.”

“I did. But it belonged to one of your parents.”

“Yes, it belonged. And I really want it to belong to you now,” her gaze falls on the leather cord, against the background of her pale skin it seems even darker than it really is. “It always seemed to me that I was more of its temporary custodian than its real owner.”

“But…”

“Obi-Wan, please.”

Pursing his lips and yet nodding somehow completely exhausted, Obi-Wan nevertheless takes the cord - carefully, trying not to touch her palm - and, to her delight, wraps it around his neck and begins to fasten it.

“You know,” she allowed to sound herself a little flirtatiously, “they were passed down in my mother’s family for several dozen generations. She gave the second one to my father during their marriage vows.”

His fingers, still gripping the beskar clasp, tremble slightly.

“It's warm,” he says quietly.

“Really?” Satine open her mouth in surprise. “I've always had a cold one. May I?..”

Satine Week - Day 4 - Regret

She'd had no regrets the last time she thought she would take her last breath as she was held in grasp of Merrik on the Coronet.  She would have died at peace knowing she had finally told Obi-Wan that she did and had always truly loved him.  

She'd not regretted one bit that she had goaded the great negotiator (with just her stare) into his own confession of love for her.  He was still the cantankerous old soul she had met in her youth, stubborn and hot headed. But he was still her Ben.  Her light.  Her love.  

But now, as she stood in the halls to the Jedi, side by side with her loves friends and found family she could not help the flood of anguish that swept through her shattered heart.  She had not been able to tell him everything she had wanted to.  She thought there would be more time.   

All decorum had left her as she could no longer hold back the sobbs from her very soul. 

He was gone. 

Obi-Wan was dead.

Satine had never regretted slapping Obi-Wan across his shorn features.  He had always been the one that tested her pacifism so absolutely.  

She remembered the shocked look in his wide sorrowful eyes.  He had looked so young and so old all at once.

She could not apologise for her anger towards him.  Not for what he had put them all through, but she had clung to the night they had spent together afterwards.  Never would she forget how he had sobbed into her arms and how she had let him.

As he now cradled her in his armour clad arms, this was what raced through her mind as the burning from the blade that had pierced her chest went cold.  

Her last words would be for him, a gift of sorts.  A love everlasting.

And yet she would pass not at peace.  She could not tell him of their child. 

She thought they would have more time…

Qui-Gon was waiting for her outside the throne room, hands folded into his sleeves, face the picture of serenity.  Satine refused to be disappointed.

Qui-Gon, naturally, wasn’t fooled.  “You were expecting Obi-Wan?”

She flushed.  “It isn’t that I’m not glad to see you.  It’s only that usually it is Obi-Wan, and I was… surprised.”

“I’m not offended, your Grace,” he said.  “In fact, I’m here with a message.”

“Oh?”

“He asks that, since you are off-duty, you accompany him on a picnic.”

She blinked.  “Of course, but…  Why not come himself?”

Qui-Gon laughed, loudly.  “He is guarding it from ducks.”

Day 5: Alternate Timeline

My idea for this alternate timeline was one where Satine survives Maul's attack. Through a series of events, she decides to remain in hiding. I picture her hiding with Bo-Katan and her Nite Owls. This drawing is from around Rebels Season 3/4 where she assists Bo and the Spectres. She still holds to all her ideals and beliefs, but Bo always insists on her wearing beskar after Maul's attack.

An important update from your friendly neighborhood mod: I've been abysmal at advertising for this event, and I'm sorry about that. I've had some life-changing things happening recently, so my focus has been elsewhere, but thankfully, I have more time to devote to this event (both as a mod and a participant) now.

In order to give people a bit more time to prepare and to spread the word on other sites, I've decided to move Satine Week out a couple weeks.

Satine Week 2024 will now be taking place from March 31st to April 6th. You're invited to share fanfics, art, videos, edits, and other creations featuring Satine Kryze. The themes for each day are as follows:

Sunday, March 31st: Jewel Monday, April 1st: Mother Tuesday, April 2nd: Tears Wednesday, April 3rd: Cat Thursday, April 4th: Sisters Friday, April 5th: Mercy Saturday, April 6th: [Free day!]

Satine Week, Day 5: Alternate Universe

Duchess Satine Kryze survives Maul's attack and witnesses the rise of the Empire while once again rebuilding her home, this time with the help of her long lost sister, and the son that she calls "nephew." Along the way, she meets an unlikely ally of sorts, and finds herself questioning everything in the name of Mandalore's preservation.

This is a long time in coming. I have been SO excited to share it with the greater world, though it may take some a while to warm up to the idea and where it may lead. But, there’s a lot of people (ok. Like 10) who think it’s a great idea! Don’t forget to click through to the next chapter. The link is to a prologue, and the first chapter follows it.

Announcing Satine Week 2022!

Please join us in November for the first annual Satine Week and celebrate our favorite Star Wars duchess.

In a couple days, we’ll be releasing a list of prompts for your consideration, and you’ll have until September 10th (two weeks from today) to vote on your favorites!
