I decided to do up a sort of 'sequel' picture to the one I did up earlier with Isontaro and Itoku considering Robina (right) and Sirah (left) are their wives. Who doesn't love some spicy ladies for 'Palentine's Day'?

It’s October first. That means that I’ll be participating in the annual October art challenge once again.

This years theme since I make my own prompts is “70s/80s/90s/00s fashion” so I’ll be dressing up a handful of characters from DIVE. Robina is the first on the chopping block for day 1.

Over the past month I started revamping some of the outfit designs for the characters since I’ll be drawing up a lot of them. I went with the main characters first, the only person I didn’t change was Toki.

I’ve gotten a bit better at drawing since this time last year so I also redid some of their physiques. I might post the nude version of these at some point.

I wanted to keep the outfit designs simple and not over complicate them so I’ll be continuing suit for the other characters to come.

One of the most influential artists of my childhood was Akira Toriyama, the man most well known for the Dragon Ball Z series which is something that's absolutely dear to my heart. Believe it or not DIVE started out as a DBZ fanfic starring me and my friends. 10 year old me was obsessed with how cool the saiyans were - the flashy moves, upping the power levels, and of course the infamous transformations they under went when they became super saiyan.

I just really wanted to draw something for such an iconic person that really helped me with my imagination growing up. For the longest time I even wanted to be a manga artist like Toriyama-san, I thought it would be really cool to make the stories in my head as a comic (which I still will be doing).

I thought it would be a fun idea to draw up Robina and Isontaro (my two main characters from DIVE) fist bumping Goku (DBZ's main character) just as a show of my appreciation. Funny enough I had to look up a height chart to discover that Goku is the size of your average guy (he's 5'9" for anyone curious). A lot of the cast of characters I've created are quite large compared to human standards (Isontaro is 10'11" and Robina is 8'2"). It was a really fun piece to scribble up since we had a storm brewing outside today.

Either way, I hope Toriyama-san rests easy. I absolutely send my condolences to his family; thank you so much for everything! My childhood definitely wouldn't of been the same without his creations!

Merry Christmas everyone!

For this years theme I decided to go with a more 1920's cartoon style for my holiday piece. It was actually something that my SO suggested. I really love how it turned out, both Robina and Isontaro look great!

I might do some else like this in the future, we'll see. It's been a nice change of pace to do up a different style.

Over the past month I've had a lot of fun just sketching up some cute romance between some of the canon couples in DIVE. I keep forgetting the height difference between Robina and Isontaro (They're on opposite ends of average height spectrum for the Demyra). Hiru is one of the tallest in the story, although Anna is average height wise she still looks small in comparison.

I really love how these turned out, I'll definitely be making more of some of the other characters.

Since the main story for DIVE is almost finished I did up some flat coloured pictures of what if Schoukannaderou won through what I've dubbed the 'seduction ending'. I won't spoil how this stacks up to the actual ending since I don't want to ruin the fun for anybody who's in for the ride but it's rather funny and terribly NSFW compared to what canonically happens.

I might do up a written version of some of the more fun potential scenarios along with some side stories featuring some of the characters that weren't entirely focused on during the main story. Schoukannaderou and Cornelious I think are two that I'll be doing, I may even do Hiru or Corento as a more 'slice of life' kind of scenario for their side stories just for fun. Depending on the character and the storyline I focus on will absolutely affect the length but I can't see anything taking up more than a handful of chapters worth.

It's been great getting draw the main characters in their updated outfits for these pieces. Although Robina is without her armour pieces unlike Isontaro.

Either way, I'm looking forward to hopefully finishing the written version of the story before the end of the year or perhaps early 2024. I'll also be cracking back at the main story comic, I've had the story boards done up for the prologue since the beginning of the year.

I decided to redraw the playlist icons I had on Spotify for each of the playlists for the arcs of DIVE. I drew the originals about 2 years ago so I think they needed a well loved revamp. Plus I've refined some of the outfits for the main cast, that was the other reason for the update.

Each arc is named after the adjoining character.

I'm currently redrawing an old NSFW side comic that I had done about 4 years ago in the same method that I'll be doing up the main comic for DIVE. Here's the first page as a preview for anybody who's curious to know what the colouring is going to look like for DIVE, which will be the simple semi-cel shaded style I use for a lot of my sketches. I'm sure I'll get better at it as time goes on since this single page took me a day total to do.

I will not be posting the rest here considering the content within the next coming pages isn't within guidelines for Tumblr but if anyone does want to see the rest I'll be posting it over on twitter (@DinosaurChurch) for anyone who's interested. This has been a fun project so far and I'm happy to experiment with what I can do. I know the backgrounds are super simple for the panels above (I'll be cooking up much more complicated ones in the future) but this is just the basics.

One thing (I'll be reminding people of this at some point I'm sure) is since there's a lot of languages that the Demyra have and they swap freely from using one or the other I will be utilizing certain fonts for certain languages so you, the reader, can keep track of it. I'm sure I'll be throwing in some other fancy things to keep things organized along the way.

As a bit of practice for myself I did up some expression sheets for Robina, Itoku, Isontaro, and Schoukannaderou. Some of these expressions you might not get to witness during the story itself (like seeing the antag cry? Not gonna happen). I went with more focus on the facial expressions themselves hence why I only properly drew everyone for the first one with their hair and such.

I think the expression sheets showcase nicely everyone’s personality, the contrast in how each character presents themselves - Robina being probably the most expressive of the four and either Itoku or Schoukannaderou being the least. These are a nice addition to the character profiles I did up of these guys earlier on the year.

One of the things I did want to keep in mind is I wanted to keep the facial expressions somewhat realistic and not go too over the top with them. This being said, while I’m drawing up the comic version of DIVE there’ll absolutely be some very wild expressions from some of the cast depending on the event. I think I’ll have a lot of fun with them.

Either way, I’ll probably make more of these as some nifty reference for myself so keep your eyes peeled!

Day 27. Finished!

Like the previous entry Robina didn’t need a whole lot of tweaking nor a recolour for her outfit. She also looks decent as a guy. Interestingly enough she’s quite the contrast compared to Verto for both male and female versions. I think it showcases both sides of her family well since you don’t really ever get to meet them.

I revamped Robina’s outfit slightly, this is more the version that she wears in the third arc (I might end up making something different for her for the first arc). You can’t really see it because of her overcoat but her bodysuit goes down to her thighs. Like Isontaro I wanted something somewhat practical for her since thinking about it, with her being a heavy magic user she wouldn’t have much need for ungodly armour since her abilities would fill the gaps. I kept things simple for the most part especially if I’m going to be drawing not only Robina’s outfit constantly but everyone else’s too.

Since she’s not the heavy hitter of her and her allies I decided to go with a more lean/muscular physique for her but nothing crazy. I wanted to keep her more realistic so to speak so I funny enough based her physique similar to what you might see someone who does crossfit has.

Here’s what she looks like underneath all of her clothes for anybody who’s curious to what I’m referring to. I will be doing this with all the characters since I think keeping in mind what everyone looks like is key (especially if anyone else eventually draws these guys. Maybe?).

One thing to note is Robina is the only character out of DIVE who’s able to cast all elements, picture her almost like a ‘red mage’. Some characters are able to be healed by certain elements, but for Robina she merely nulls any damage she would receive. There’s going to be a lot of fun with who can cast what during the course of the story, I have some very unique set ups for some of the characters. I also had to keep in mind with how their elements would affect their physique too (like for someone having say the element of earth/ground would be more beefy/stocky than someone who’s skilled with wind or even electricity).

Robina is one of the few characters that hasn’t gone through a whole lot of changes over the years, the biggest thing I’ve changed for her is her hairstyle but even that was still just her bangs. Plus the addition of her horns, there’s not a whole lot of characters that have horns even if the Demyra are based on demons (hence the general appearance). I don’t feel that I’ll be fiddling around much with her design or any of the other primary protagonists or antagonists for that matter.

Overall I think the biggest thing that might change is going to be coming up with an outfit for Robina for the first arc. I don’t know if I’ll change the colour scheme much - I might go with the original white/blue combo I had but I’ll figure that out at a little bit of a later date.
