in-universe "logistics" aside, i think it's good that echo has the permanent scomp arm instead of a hand for like. real-world representation reasons.

in star wars sure they have fully articulated replacement prosthetics but we very much don't have that in real life, and i feel like echo with the scomp is good rep for that. he's one of the most competent characters and i think it's good to show that he can do All That as he is, especially with how irl people with only one hand usually are very capable, even more if they've been living with it for a long time, and very rarely do we see that in media.

like, mark hamill once said he talked to a kid for a make a wish thing who was about to have his arm amputated, and the kid said that he wasn't worried because luke did it too. i think that's important

one thing i appreciate about the pmd franchise as a whole is that the pokemon choices for the npcs here and there never feel purely conventional. like, in there’s obviously an emphasis on the generation each game came out in (besides pmd1 which pulled equally from all 3 gens at the time i think) but it never feels like they make a beeline for the “popular” pokemon for the sake of it. like looking at the school setting for psmd, yeah a small childish pokemon like pancham that evolved into a dark type makes sense as a bullying student…. but i dont think shelmet was the first pokemon to come to mind as his sidekick. who jumped to make farfetchd a teacher? in gti, why have a dunsparce, a gen 2 mon of all things, as a major character? none of those feel like super popular picks and it honestly makes me appreciate these games a lot for their diversity in choices.

#pmd1 does have more popular picks like gardevoir gengar and alakazam but like. idk i dont count that or see it as a huge deal #or a flaw at all ftr #because pmd1 is a lot more particular about how each pokemon’s unique abilities cater to the story #like alakazam’s IQ and psychic powers come into play with hero #gengars are well… ghosts. and hes the ghost of a cruel human. xatu as a pokemon sees the future #ninetales cursing people with their tails is a staple of its character #and that’s something that unfortunately gets a bit less relevant as the games go on. only a bit tho like the choices still mean something #like nuzleaf is an odd choice for a main antagonist at first glance #until you remember that nuzleaf are based on tengu #so being in a ‘’protective’’ role as heros father figure but also being a trickster devil figure makes a lot of sense #(also shiftry was already a major character in pmd1 djdjdnd)#echoed voice #pmd posting #oh also theres never any gen 1 bias babyyyyyyyyy
