hii guuyys its soup !! what a crazy week it has been. I have a class where my group is shit except for 3 ppl and i've been really excited for spring break. Talking about spring break, after this update I wont be updating until after my spring break, However that doesn't mean i might release little mini stories that take place during this chapter !! I will still be active, juuust not writing as much. spring break for me ends on March 17th so be on the lookout for an update during that week !!

Chapter 5: A Second Chance

After arriving back at the castle…

Miguel is taken all the way to his room where he could rest and heal from his wounds. Y/N peeked inside his room worried but was shut out by Lyla who softly told her that Miguel is currently having his room cleaned up. Y/N nodded as she waited outside. 

After what seemed to be an hour, Y/N peeked back inside with a cloth and some hot water in a bucket. She noticed how his room is tidier and much cleaner from the original state from what it was. She thought that maybe, the Beast was too embarrassed for her to enter his room in such a grave state. Lyla hopped in the room besides Y/N and led him to the bed where Miguel was laying. Everyone was huddled by the bed with worried faces as they hoped for Miguel to feel better. Miguel on the other hand was still a bit grumpy and in pain as he was licking his own wounds. Y/N with a small sigh picked up a stool and sat right beside the bed and placed the rag into the hot water. She then picked it up and squeezed it to remove any excess water. “Here, and stop licking that you’ll only infect it further...” she says softly as she approaches him. Miguel looked at her and snarled a bit, Y/N sighed, and she grabbed his arm and placed the wet rag on the wound. Miguel roared loudly in pain and yelled at her “COÑO THAT HURTS” 

“Well if you didn’t move so much then It wouldn’t have hurt!” 

“WELL IF YOU DIDN’T RUN AWAY, THIS WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED”

“WELL IF YOU DIDN’T FRIGHTEN ME, I WOULDN’T HAVE RAN AWAY” 

Miguel opened his mouth but then stopped as she did have a point. “W-WELL, YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE GONE TO THE WEST WING” he smirks to himself as he thinks that he got the final word. “WELL YOU SHOULD LEARN TO HOLD YOUR TEMPER!” Miguel’s smirk dropped from that statement; she also had a point too.

Miguel eventually gave up as he dropped his arm for her to treat him. He did have to admit, it felt nice being cared for by someone. He growled again as he felt the heat and sting from the wet rag go back on his arm. Y/N looked at him and softly said “sorry if it stings a bit…” Miguel simply had to hold in his growls as he felt the hot water from the rag permeate his wounds. Y/N eventually looked at him and whispered “by the way… gracias ..por salvar mi vida…” Miguel was surprised and even felt touched for her appreciation. He didn’t know what to call the emotion, but he liked it. He turned to look at her with kind eyes “you’re welcome...” 

After a while, Miguel fell asleep and Y/N slowly walked out of his room along with the others who were watching their interactions. Y/N turns around and crouches a little as she hears Miles say “Thank you…we’re grateful for you helping him..” 

Y/N sighs and asks “why do you all care for him so much ? He’s so…well you know

Peter was polishing Mayday a little and looked up at Y/N “well…it's because we all grew up with him, we basically looked after each other for his entire life” Y/N’s heart crumbled a little for them “But…he’s the reason why he basically cursed all of you, why stay with him?”

Jess waddled up to her and sighed “well…it's because we didn’t do anything when his mother died and when his own brother left him. It was just Me and Peter, the others eventually came in as their own parents couldn’t work in this castle anymore. You see when we knew him…he was this bright boy that thought he could do anything, but…in the end we’re still servants, we couldn’t even do anything when the King took him under his wing and molded him to be the person he is today…” 

In that moment Y/N understood everything now, she understood why these people were so loyal to him. She felt pretty bad and well ultimately decided that maybe she should give Miguel a second chance..

As the days went by, Y/N constantly went to see Miguel with medicine and more hot water to clean his wounds. Everyday she would hear stories from the staff of how Miguel was and their experiences with him, Heck even Hobie gave her a funny story. She felt motivated for a strange reason to help him and maybe even get to properly know him a bit better. Y/N eventually found out what the spell was about and she remembered asking Gwen what it meant if the last petal fell. In Gwen’s words she basically said “we become dead antique looking objects” Y/N also asked Peter when she found him on what it would take to break the spell, Miles was eager to tell her but Peter stopped him by simply saying “it's not something you should really worry about” Y/N thankfully took a hint and moved along with her day.

More days passed and Y/N started simply reading aloud to kill time 

“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,” 

Miguel slowly stirred to Y/N’s voice and his eyes fluttered to hear her reciting a sonnet. His heart strangely softened at her voice, but he assumed it was because he appreciated her care for him during the past few days.He then heard the lines she spoke and immediately recognized it and finished the last few lines

 “And summer’s lease hath all too short a date;

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines”

Y/N stopped to look at him in awe “conoces a Shakespeare ??” she said in a slightly excited tone. Miguel moved from the left to right side of the bed to look at her, his heart slightly pounding at the sight of her “well..I had quite the expensive education” Y/N smiled at him “My favorite play is Romeo and Juliet” Miguel rolled his eyes and groaned “why am I not surprised” he said shaking his head in utter disappointment. “Como ?” Miguel chuckled and responded “All of that heartache pining, and romance, it's just-” Miguel makes a gagging noise to express how cringe he finds it. 

Y/N chuckled a little and smiled. “Well, Mr. Cringe, from this assessment I can concur that you’re feeling a bit better, If you’ll excuse me, I promised Mayday that we would build a snowman” Miguel nodded as he understood and watched her walk out of his room. He lay there in confusion and wondered if he was going mad…"diablo, que hermosa” he muttered as he covered his face with his arm.

An hour later

Y/N was walking outside with the adorable teacup to build a snowman. She smiled each time that Mayday pointed out little items that could be used to build. The two happily built a snowman and stole a carrot from Felipe’s stables to place as the snowman’s nose. Too bad Felipe saw them and started playing with them as well and squished the snowman. However, at a balcony high up in the castle, Miguel was watching Y/N from a distance. He softly watched her and smiled each time she laughed or smiled. He looked down at his bandaged wound and sighed as he wondered what to do. He looked beside him as Peter was paying attention to his darling daughter, hoping she wouldn't get trampled by Felipe. “Hey Peter…uhh…what do you call it when you-” Miguel gulped a little “when you feel kind of fluttery when staring at someone” Peter turned to him and smirked “is this someone, a certain woman who’s frolicking in the snow” Miguel groaned at his teasing and sighed “coño vale ok, jeez…but uhh…what do I do for her…I mean..she’s done so much for me” Peter then thinks for a bit and then smiled when thinking of something “why don’t you show her the library, trust me she’ll like it.” Miguel nodded as he took his advice and decided to show Y/N the library. A bit later during the day Miguel found Y/N inside the castle playing chess with Miles and asked her to join him for a special occasion. Y/N agreed and followed him, but immediately was tied a ribbon on her eyes “It’s a surprise and I don’t want you peeking.” 

Y/N smiled and simply allowed Miguel to guide her into the greatest surprise of her life. She heard a door open and felt his large furry hands take her inside. She kept on walking until he brought her to a stop. "Can I take this ribbon off now?” Y/N asked. “Ya en un ratito” Miguel excitedly went to the windows and opened the curtains for light to come inside.  Y/N could see the light seep in through the ribbon, but she still couldn’t make out what she’s looking at. “Can I take the ribbon off now ??” Miguel smiled with his toothy grin and told her “Yes, you may take off the ribbon” Y/N untied the ribbon from the back of her head and then finally looked into the room she was actually in and her jaw dropped. There were books everywhere in this giant room. “Oh my..this library…it's so...Dios Mio, it's so grand, it's wonderful !!”

Miguel smiled at her reaction, it was definitely priceless and worth it to see her cheeks rise and to see her eyes ever so slightly crinkle at the ends of her face. “I suppose it is” he responded “well…then since you like it so much then it's yours to keep” Y/N excitedly looked at him and asked “ Have you read all of these books ?” Miguel chuckles and scoffs “Not all of them, some of them are in Latin”  Y/N laughs and smiles “was that a joke ? you like telling jokes now ?” Miguel turned around to a table, but then looked back at her and smiled “maybe”

It has now been around 3 months since Y/N has stayed in the castle and ever since the two of them have slowly developed a bond. They became friends, but at the same time they really weren’t. The staff noticed it and were just simply happy to be working again. There were certain instances where Miguel was a bit gruff, awkward, or just had odd behaviors, but Y/N found solutions to each one. When eating soup at the dinner table, instead of using spoons they would sip the contents of the dish from the bowl itself. When eating meat, they would use their hands, and when reading books the two must sit together and share the book.

“Who knew that this would work ?” Jess whispered. Peter nodded and smiled “I'm surprised myself, it's quite encouraging to be honest”  Little Mayday who was with them looked up at her father “daddy ? what IS werking ?” Peter chuckled and looked at the little teacup “nothing to twist your little head around May, come on now we have things to do in the kitchen” Mayday nodded and hopped along with her father to the kitchen. Jess peering at the newly formed friendship smiled “don’t screw up Miguel”. She left the room to another part of the castle to attend her duties at. 

During this period of friendship, Miguel had started to wear clothes instead of the rags he wore, he wanted to look more presentable to Y/N. Luckily the seamstress was willing to sew new clothes for him in his furry stature. Y/N had invited him to walk outside to finish the book they were currently reading: The Count of Monte Cristo. He eventually met up with y/n as they took a stroll outside in the wintery snow. Y/N every once in a while, would peer up at him to spot any grimaces in his face, but was met instead with a calm look. As she read, she couldn’t help but peer at him one more time, her thoughts straying away to some impurities, her thoughts slipping as she imagined Miguel’s furry chest against her own body. She blushed at her own actions and disregarded it. She didn’t want to believe she just thought of something like that. The two finally walked by a bridge as she finally read the last sentences of the book “Gone,” murmured Valentine; “adieu, my sweet Haidee—adieu, my sister!”

“Who can say whether we shall ever see them again?” said Morrel with tearful eyes.

“Darling,” replied Valentine, “has not the count just told us that all human wisdom is summed up in two words?—’Wait and hope.’” 

Miguel smiled at her last words and looked at her “well that was quite the story” Y/N looked up and smiled at him. “I agree” Y/N put away the book in a bag and then smiled as she walked quickly towards Felipe, gently petting the horse and feeding him some apples that she had stored in her bag. She gestured for Miguel to come. He gulped as he looked at the horse, he didn’t want to frighten him with his beastly appearance, but the reassurance that y/n gave him was enough. He slowly approached Felipe and tried to put his hand on the horse, but Felipe nickered. The noise startled Miguel as he slightly flinched. Y/N chuckled a little and helped Miguel approach Felipe again, she wondered how he was just so sweet and kind despite his angry facade. When Miguel finally placed his hand against the horse his ears perked up and he looked up at Y/N with a toothy grin. She chuckled as she looked at him dearly, she enjoyed that his curiosity was emerging and his uncertainties as well. She handed him some bird feed and showed him how to feed birds in a quiet manner as well. Miguel looked at her as he was able to pet Felipe and successfully feed some birds. He thought how her glances were just so adorable, how she would always place a hand on him without any fear. He wanted to ignore all of these little things she did, but he simply couldn’t get over her. Her body was so petite against his, it just made his mind wander to farther places. However, his thoughts were interrupted when he realized he had birds perched all over his upper body and feeding the seeds from his hands. Y/N on the other hand was watching silently from behind a tree as she had to make terms with herself that she was finding Miguel’s true personality quite attractive. She always knew as a child that the man that she falls for would be for who he is, but she never expected this to be in THIS way. Y/N looked back quickly at Miguel and chuckled at all the birds on him, but her playfulness got to her as she started a snowball fight with him. The two in the snow played around, throwing snowballs at each other relentlessly, some bigger some smaller, and Miguel using his size as an advantage to make a giant snowball to throw at Y/N. 

After a long day of just playing in the snow, the two came inside to sit by the fire to start reading yet another book. Peeking outside the room where the fireplace was located. Miles, Gwen, Lyla, Peter, Mayday, and Jess were looking at the two of them. 

“Y’know…I think they like each other” “Y’know what miles, I think you’re right.”

“Shush you two do you want us to get caught.” Peter chuckled “alright Jess, just let them have their moment.” 

Mayday looked up confused and babbled “whaddaya mean they like each other” Peter laughs alongside with Lyla who tells her “We’ll tell you when you’re older.”

However, in the village…

Ben was having a meeting with a man in the middle of the night in his cabin. Eddie was there as well but simply sighed as he knew that this plan was horrid

“Yo usualmente no salgo del Psiquiátrico en la madrugada, but I was told this is worth my time..”

Ben smiled wickedly and placed on the table a large bag of gold coins. The man looked at the money and smiled as he picked up a coin “i’m listening”

Ben smiled “so the plan is that I am dead set on marrying Y/N, but I’m starting to believe that she needs a bit of persuasion per say..” Eddie rolls his eyes and mutters “more like being flat out rejected”  Ben sneered at Eddie, and quickly used his look to silence him.

“Everyone knows that her father is a loon, he was in the tavern I believe 3-4 months ago raving over some beast in a castle?!” The man sighed “Mauricio is harmless though, he hasn’t done anything to harm the villagers to put him IN the asylum.”

Ben smacked the table “Listen, the point is that Y/N would do ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING to keep Mauricio out of the asylum” Eddie mumbled again “might marry him too” The man thinks “So you want me to throw her father into el psiquiátrico, a menos que ella se ponga de acuerdo de casarse contigo. Oh that is just despicable…” The man chuckled as he looked at the bag of money and he starts laughing menacingly “I LOVE IT”

Back in the castle as the days slowly got warmer

Miguel was sitting down in his budding rose garden, the sights of spring finally peeking through the icy cold. He sat down and hummed as he enjoyed the book he was reading, flipping through the pages, enjoying each time the story escalated. Y/N sees him from a distance and approaches him at the rose garden. “What are you reading?” Miguel surprised closed his book as he cheekily responded “oh, nothing” Y/N smiled and chuckled as she sat beside him “Guinevere and Lancelot” Miguel corrected her “Actually, King Arthur and the Round Table, lots of blood, men, sword fighting and stuff.” Y/N hummed “It's still a romance” Miguel groans “Esta bien, you win” Y/n smiled and laughed a bit. Miguel smiled and looked at her with adoration in his eyes “I never thanked you, for not leaving me to be eaten by the wolves” Y/N laughed again. In the distance laughter was heard from the staff as they all chatted and teased little mayday. 

“Well, it seems that they know how to have a good time” Miguel rolls his eyes “and yet every time I walk in the room laughter just dies.” Y/N smiles at the similarity that they share and lays her head on Miguel’s shoulder, shocking the man to his core as his ears flattened in embarrassment. “I get it, the villagers would say I'm a funny girl” she moves her head away to look at him “I don’t think they meant it in a nice way” Miguel’s face drooped at her words “I'm sorry you had to experience that…Your village sounds horrid, terrible people there” Y/N chuckled as she agreed with him. Miguel looked into her eyes as he could see the sun glinting against the lovely shade that adorned her face. Without hesitating he didn’t realize what he said

“Estás haciendo que todo parezca tan bonito en mis ojos... crees que algún día podria bailar contigo?”

Y/N softly smiled as she took his hand and held his, feeling the warmth radiate from his palms.

“Of course, Miguel...”

It's happened again. I can't believe it. Seeing him laying on the floor clearly in pain just broke me. He's not long come back from his last injury and it looks like he's injured again. What makes it all so much worse is that I'm here again it just seems that every time I can make it to a match Pedri gets hurt. I can't watch many matches because I'm either in classes or working and Pedri gets that in fact he says it makes it more exciting when I can make it to a game. As much as he gets excited I've come to fear going to matches as I'm sure I bring the team bad luck if it's not a injury for Pedri then it's a big loss for the team it just seems that something always goes wrong when I'm there. 

Watching Pedri limp off the pitch tears in his eyes made me wonder if this is all worth it. I love watching him play in person instead of on a screen but maybe that's the best way forward especially if it means he stays fit and the team does well. At this point I'm just hurting everyone I'm hurting Pedri and myself because I suffer too when he's out injured for weeks because he just isn't himself in that time. The more times this injury occurs the more upset Pedri is each time which in turn makes me feel awful because I just want him to be happy and do what he loves so maybe it's time that I finally admit to myself that I'm the problem to save us both more unnecessary pain.

I had to sit in my seat for the rest of the match which felt so cruel but eventually the match ended and I was able to get up from my seat and head down the tunnel to find Pedri. To start with security were hesitant to let me in but eventually they accepted that my pass was real when I was able to get Gavi to FaceTime me to prove we knew each other. I've never had such a struggle getting past security before but I guess that really just sums up today and probably my luck at matches in general. Finally I made it through but by the time I did all the players had already gone in the locker room so I just had to stand outside and wait but I did send a text to Pedri first telling him I was there whenever he was ready. 

It wasn't long before a red and puffy eyed Pedri limped his way out of the locker room looking at the floor refusing to meet my eyes. Still he came straight over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist burying his head in my shoulder. Of course I've seen Pedri upset before but this is the most upset I've seen him about football; he goes silent and doesn't like to let go of me when he's really sad and thats exactly how he is now. It hurts so much seeing him so distraught at being injured again, he's been working so hard to not only recover but stop himself from getting injured and and clearly he feels like none of it was worth it. As much as I want to tell him it's not his fault and that I'm just bad luck now isn't the time he needs my support and that's what I'll give him. 

Originally the plan was for me to get on the last flight back to Barcelona this evening and land when Pedri would be able to pick me up after leaving the training centre but plans have changed. Pedri didn't want me to leave so he asked maybe begged to bring me on the flight back with the team and the people with the club couldn't say no especially seeing how distraught he was. As much as I wanted to I couldn't be by his side the entire time as I had to board the flight first with all the team staff but luckily they allowed me to sit with Pedri so I took my seat and just had to wait. Realistically it wasn't that long before he arrived but it sure felt like forever until I saw him coming down the aisle of the plane looking mostly at the ground. 

He sat down next to me and rested his head on my shoulder as he began crying again. I moved so that his head rested on my chest which allowed me to hold him closer while running my hand through his hair as that usually calms him down a bit. After we took off some of the boys tried coming over to comfort Pedri or just see how he was doing but he didn't want to talk he just made a few noises or made me talk for him. Eventually everyone left us alone but that didn't really make things any better Pedri was still upset and I was left alone with my own thoughts. 

"Everything will be ok you know that right" I said to help comfort Pedri and quieten down my own thoughts in my head 

"Will it though I'm injured again what if it's another relapse then everything I've done to prevent it has been a waste of time" Pedri sniffled 

"Don't say that for one we don't know what is wrong yet it may not be a relapse and two all of the changes you have made will benefit you in years to come when you are still playing at 35" I said 

"I'm not going to be playing then" he said 

"Why not if you keep doing what your doing the injuries will get better and you can play for many more years" I said 

"I know it's tough right now but you need to stay positive feeling sorry for yourself isn't going to make you any better I want to see the extremely motivated Pedri I saw during your last injury" I added 

"You're right but it is really difficult especially after I've had so many injuries" he said 

"I know how about you get out all your emotions tonight then tomorrows a new day so we can both be extra positive" I said 

He offered me a small smile before burying his head again. I can see that he's broken inside which only makes me feel worse. How can I possibly bring such suffering to the person I love the most. Once Pedri fell asleep in my arms I let out a few tears of my own because I just feel so bad that he has to go through this all again just because I actually attended a match.

After yesterday I decided to work from home today so I could be there when Pedri came back from getting his medical tests done. Even if the prognosis is better than we first thought I still want to be here for him to either comfort him or celebrate the little win. Working from home is supposed to involve working but I've done very few productive tasks as I've only been thinking about Pedri. I can't get the image of his face with his red eyes from crying out my head I've never seen him so broken and fragile and I don't think I could handle seeing it again so I definitely need to tell him that I can't come to games anymore. 

3 long agonising hours later I got a text from Pedri telling me he was on his way back home. I tried focusing on work but quickly gave up and decided I'd prepare a snack for both of us, it was nothing complicated but it kept my mind occupied. Luckily it all took me long enough that by the time I was done I heard Pedri's car pulling into the driveway. I didn't want to seem too eager so I stayed in the kitchen and made myself look busy until Pedri announced his presence and came to join me. He had a smile on his face which was such a relief but I still wanted to hear exactly what had gone on.

"Come on tell me what happened" I said 

"The injury isn't as bad as we first thought and it's not a relapse it's a new injury so I shouldn't be out for as long" he said 

"Thats great I'm so happy for you" I said giving him a hug 

"It's such a relief it's not good being out again but it doesn't feel quite as bad knowing that it's not the same injury again" he said 

"Yeah that is a relief" I said 

"Is everything ok with you?" He asked 

"Yeah yeah I'm fine I do need to get back to work though" I said giving him a quick kiss 

It's not often I work from home as I never get as much done and it's harder to manage my team from home but sometimes it's nice to be a bit more comfortable. Whenever I do work from home Pedri always leaves me be only coming into my office to bring me water or food but today he came in just a few minutes after I had got settled and sat on the little armchair I have in the corner of the room. As I worked he gradually pulled the chair closer until he was sat right next to my desk watching me as I worked. Don't get me wrong it was nice to have his company but he never does this so I was a bit confused as to why he was being so clingy all of a sudden. I kept trying to focus but whenever I did anything Pedri would lean in to press a kiss to my cheek which took away all my concentration. 

I tried to hard to keep working but I was just so distracted that I stopped what I was doing and turned to face Pedri to see if he would tell me why he was being so clingy. Instead of doing that he grabbed my face and gave me a kiss which I thought might be what he wanted but then he gave me another one and then another until I stopped him. 

"What has got into you" I laughed 

"I just want to spend time with my girlfriend and give her lots of love" he said 

"That's not the only reason is it, what's on your mind?" I asked

"I want to know what's on your mind I know there's something you aren't telling me and you know I can't help unless you tell me" he said 

"It's sounds stupid but I think I'm a bad luck charm every time I go to watch you play in person something bad happens either you get injured or the team loses and every time it's so upsetting so I just think I shouldn't go to matches anymore" I explained 

"Do you really blame yourself?" He asked 

"Well yeah bad things only happen when I'm there I know you guys lose when I'm not but things always seem worse when I go" I said 

"That's just a coincidence there's games you've been to that we won like when we won the league you were there that day and you came to watch when we won the super copa it's not you it's just been a rough time recently but I promise it's not you" he said 

"Maybe until things are better I shouldn't go to matches I don't want everyone to start resenting me because I'm making things worse" I said 

"No one is going to hate you we aren't having the best season but that's not your fault ok and I need you there having you at matches motivates me to play even better" he said 

"Are you sure?" I questioned

"Of course even if you are a bad luck charm which you aren't you are my bad luck charm and I'd bring you everywhere if I could because I just like having you with me" he said giving me a kiss which made me feel so much better

Welcome to HarryGlots, a fest where we celebrate artworks written in languages other than English. Ironically, the fest rules and main communication are going to be written in English, but the main goal of the fest is appreciate the diversity in the fandom—not just the domination of English.

You can write a general prompt in English—it will be up for grabs for everyone.

You can also choose to write a prompt in a language of your choice.

The work must be written in a language other than English. You don't have to be a native speaker of the language, but you'd need to know it well enough to write a coherent story :)

All works should be beta read by a native speaker of the language you’re writing in. If you're unable to find a beta, please contact the mod.

All works should be taking place in the Harry Potter universe, included additional franchise such as Fantastic Beasts or The Cursed Child. No crossovers with other fandoms allowed.

All the works should be original to the fest. Translations or podfics are allowed as long as the target language is different than English.

Minimal word count is 500 words, no maximum word count.

All tags are allowed as long as the work is properly tagged. 

There’s no cap of claimants per prompt—multiple people can claim one prompt.

You can claim a second prompt after you’ve submitted your first work to the collection.

Works are anonymous. Authors are going to be revealed as soon as the posting period is complete.

To ask for extension, please reach out to the mod via email as soon as possible.

AI-generated works aren’t allowed and won’t be accepted into the collection. Use of AI-generated image in the work is also forbidden.

Okay. So. Re-Intro Post. I fucking guess.

According to litwtc episode “Dead Intern Fund” the world will end from 1 - 100 years from now.

It is now past April 11th 2024 - the previously expected date - and the world has not ended. There will be no “gradual process” of the world ending, because as stated by Chris Dunne and Will Wood themselves, the original date was wrong.

As we have no new specific date for the apocalypse, this blog is now useless and worthless. I no longer have any purpose on tumblr. I had queued some “weekly update” posts which would be tagged as #tallying the aftermath but now I see no reason for those posts to see the light of day. I’ve smashed all my hourglasses and analogue clocks and I now no longer understand the concept of time. I’ve lost so many fucking money doing this shit.

Now that all of that’s out of the way, I can finally tell you guys who’s behind this account - millions of unpayed interns, but mostly me - CC (she/him). All of us had a specific job to do; I was in charge of running this tumblr account and answering questions, Jason (he/him) was the leader of the merch group, Donnie (they/them) worked on spreading the message of the end of the world (they ended up getting arrested for public indecency and we haven’t heard from them since March 17th). All of us were promised $2,000 once the countdown ended and at the moment all of our bank accounts are fucking empty.

Just before the new merch dropped, our manager Christopher promised us half of the money made from the shirt, so if you want to support everybody at the litwtc apocalypse counter team, the best way in doing so is to buy a ‘Dead Intern Fund’ shirt, if you’re able to.

1494 – Suleiman the Magnificent, Ottoman Sultan,  was born (d.1566); the tenth and longest‐serving Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, reigning from 1520 to 1566. He is known in the West as Suleiman the Magnificent and in the Islamic world, as the Lawgiver, deriving from his complete reconstruction of the Ottoman legal system. Within the empire, Suleiman was known as a fair ruler and an opponent of corruption.

As well as being a capable goldsmith and distinguished poet, Suleiman was also a great patron of artists and philosophers, overseeing the golden age of the Ottoman Empire's cultural development.

Historians claim that Suleiman, in his youth, had an admiration for Alexander the Great as he wanted very much to learn how he had managed to unite the peoples of the east and the west.

Pargali Ibrahm Pasha was the boyhood friend of Suleiman. Ibrahim was originally Greek Orthodox and when young was educated at the Palace School as a devshirme (the systematic abduction of young boys from conquered Christians lands by the Ottomann sultans as a form of regular taxation in order to build a loyal slave army).

As the Sultan's male favorite, he shared Suleiman's quarters and his tent while at home and on campaign. Suleiman made him the royal falconer, then promoted him to first officer of the Royal Bedchamber. Eventually, Ibrahim Pasha became the Grand Vizier in 1523 and commander in chief of all the armies. Suleiman also conferred upon Ibrahim pasha the honor of beylerbey of Rumelia, granting Ibrahim authority over all Turkish territories in Europe, as well as command of troops residing within them at times of war.

According to a 17th century chronicler, Ibrahim had asked Suleiman not to promote him to such high positions, fearing for his safety, to which Suleiman replied that under his reign no matter what the circumstance, Ibrahim would never be put to death.

Ibrahim would eventually fall from grace with the Sultan. During his thirteen years as Grand Vizier, his rapid rise to power and vast accumulation of wealth had made Ibrahim many enemies among the Sultan's court.

Reports had reached the Sultan of Ibrahim's imprudence committed during a campaign against the Persian Safavid empire, in particular his adoption of the title serasker sultan was seen as a grave affront to Suleiman. Suleiman's suspicion of Ibrahim was worsened in a quarrel between the latter and the Minister of Finance Iskender Chelebi. The dispute ended in the disgrace of Chelebi on charges intrigues against the Sultan, with Ibrahim convincing Suleiman to sentence the Minister to death. Before his death however, Chelebi's last words were to accuse Ibrahim of conspiracy against the Sultan. Since these were his dying words, Suleiman became convinced of Ibrahim's disloyalty and on March 15, 1536, Ibrahim's lifeless body was discovered in the Topkapi palace.

1730 Hans Hermann von Katte  (1704 – 1730) is executed in Prussia. Prince Fredrick II of Prussia (aka Frederich the Great) was thought to be lovers with, Katte. They planned to escape Prussia together, but were discovered. The court sentenced Katte to life in prison but refused to judge the prince. Fredrick’s father thought this too lenient and ordered Katte executed and Fredrick imprisoned. Frederick was awakened at 5:00 AM and told to look out his prison window at the execution of Katte. He called out to him "My dear Katte, a thousand pardons." Katte called back, "My prince, there is nothing to apologize for" just before he was beheaded.

1924 – Jeanette Schmid (d.2005) was a professional transsexual whistler.

Born Rudolf Schmid in Volary, Sudetenland (in what is now the Czech Republic), Schmid began to dress in feminine clothing at a young age and loved singing and dancing. Schmid did not fit in with the Nazi ideal of the Aryan male but enlisted in the Wehrmacht in 1941 and was posted to Udine, Italy until sent home due to typhoid fever.

As Czechoslovakians began to take revenge against Sudeten Germans at the end of the war, Schmid was forced to flee to Munich where she began a career as a female impersonator. She rapidly gained fame for her talent, bawdy material, and slinky outfits. The Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and his wife Queen Soraya, saw Schmid perform in Hamburg and invited her to Tehran, but Schmid's material and dress were considered inappropriate by many in Iran, and she was forced to devise a new routine. She instead whistled a Strauss polka and Offenbach's Barcarole for the Shah and his court.

Following her Iran performance, Schmid toured the world as a cross-dressing whistler, performing on stage with acts like Frank Sinatra, Édith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich while living in Cairo. In 1964, Schmid underwent sex reassignment surgery and changed her name to Jeanette. Schmid moved to Vienna, the world capital of whistling, to continue her whistling career.

Schmid continued to tour the world under the stage name Baroness Lips von Lipstrill, including a successful stint on Broadway. She was awarded the Austrian Decoration of Merit in Gold in 2004. Schmid died in Vienna in 2005.

1949 – Brad Davis, American actor, best known for his role in the 1978 film Midnight Express, was born on this date (d.1991).

Davis was born Robert Creel Davis in Tallahassee, Florida to Eugene Davis, a dentist whose career declined due to alcoholism, and his wife, the former Anne Creel. His brother Gene is also an actor. According to an article in The New York Times published in 1987, According to an article in The New York Times published in 1987, Davis suffered physical abuse and sexual abuse at the hands of both parents. As an adult, he was an alcoholic and an intravenous drug user before becoming sober in 1981. Davis was known as "Bobby" during his youth, but took Brad as his stage name in 1973.

At 17, after winning a music talent contest, Davis worked at Theatre Atlanta. He later moved to New York City and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, as well as studied acting at the American Place Theater. After a role on the soap opera How to Survive a Marriage, he performed in off-Broadway plays. In 1976 he was cast as Sally Field's love interest in the television film Sybil. He played the lead role in Larry Kramer's play about AIDS, The Normal Heart (1985).

His most successful film role was as the main character in Midnight Express (1978), for which he won the Golden Globe Award for New Star Of The Year - Actor. He also had a small role in Roots. The steamy shower scene in Midnight Express and Davis' portrayal of the sexy Gay sailor in Rainer Werner Fassbinder's film adaptation of Jean Genet's Querelle (1983) made him a Gay film icon.

Davis was married to Susan Davis, who later became an Emmy Award-winning casting director. They had one child, Alexandra (now Alex, he's a transman).

Diagnosed with AIDS in 1985, Davis kept his condition secret until shortly before his death. Although it was announced he died of AIDS in 1991 in Los Angeles, he actually died of an intentional drug overdose. Near death and in severe pain in a hospital, he opted to return home and end his life on his own terms. With his wife and a family friend present, he committed assisted suicide. Susan Davis continues to campaign to combat AIDS.

1988 – Tom Neuwirth, better known by his drag stage persona Conchita Wurst, is an Austrian singer. Wurst came to international attention when winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark with the song "Rise Like a Phoenix".

Born in Gmunden, Neuwirth moved to Graz to do his Matura with a focus on fashion, before embarking on a singing career through the 2007 casting show Starmania. He subsequently became a founding member of the short-lived boyband Jetzt Anders!.

In 2011, Neuwirth began appearing as Wurst – a drag persona noted for her beard – and came second in the Austrian preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Wurst was successfully selected to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, where she proved victorious.

Wurst's entry and victory courted controversy, being condemned by some of the continent's social conservatives and right-wingers who saw her performance as a promotion of LGBT rights. Conversely, it brought her international attention and established her as a prominent LGBT icon, resulting in invites to perform at various LGBT pride parades and the European Parliament.

Neuwirth describes himself as a gay man and uses female pronouns to describe his Wurst character, but male pronouns when referring to himself.

OK SO. the animations family.

first off i have to explain the QSMP a bit. the QSMP (nobody's really sure what the q stands for afaik) is a multilingual minecraft smp that first started in march 2023. the original server roster was 16 players, half of whom were hispanic and half who were english speakers. (this was bc quackity, the guy who came up with the server and did all the planning and stuff, is bilingual and wanted to unite his two communities). one of these original 16 was jaiden animations (this is important). on the first day of the server, these 16 members were stranded in a place called Quesadilla Island, which is controlled by a mysterious and sinister Federation (run by a weird little guy named Cucurucho)

okay, you know the trope of science projects where you get split up into pairs and have to take care of an egg together? they literally did that. All of the players were split into pairs of one spanish-speaker and one english-speaker, and tasked with taking care of an egg (actually a special NPC played by a server admin). the eggs started out with two lives each, and once those lives were out, the egg's gone for good, and your in-game child is dead. (this is a secret surprise tool that will help us later!)

one of these parenting pairs was jaiden animations and roier, and their egg's name was bobby. bobby was a rambunctious little fella- artistic, brave, very aggressive- and an absolute mama's boy. jaiden, roier, and bobby (aka the animations family) all got along very well, and tbh i need to go rewatch jaiden's vods of them bc they were so sweet together. jaiden changed her minecraft skin to match bobby's so they were both wearing overalls together.

jaiden's character (or cubito, a word from the spanish speaking community that essentially means "minecraft roleplay character" that p much the whole community uses now bc its so damn cute) was aroace (just like jaiden in real life!), so she and q!roier were in a qpr co-parenting situation. and it was really sweet and i miss them. can you tell i miss them.

now, astute readers may have noticed that i use "was" for both jaiden and bobby. on may 17th, 2023, bobby lost his second life to a vindicator and was ruled permanently dead. roier was there at the time, I believe, but was unable to save bobby in time. when jaiden found out, she SCREAMED and it was like. you know in hamilton how when phillip dies eliza screams? it sounded like that. (she also chased after the sunset while saying "wait for me" over and over again, it was really heartbreaking and im still a little bit insane about this).

the next day, the whole server went on a journey to the dungeon bobby died in, to plead with cucurucho for his revival. cucurucho refused to bring bobby back permanently, but allowed jaiden and roier ten minutes to talk with him and say their goodbyes. bobby asked them to remember him every time they saw a sunset.

(^ the last time the whole animations family was together. this was 9.5 months ago).

neither q!jaiden nor q!roier ever really fully recovered from bobby's death (although id say jaiden was hit way harder due to not having a support system outside of roier and cucurucho, who took advantage of her grief to manipulate her). there are some other things that happened here, such as q!roier getting married to a cellbit, a brazilian player working as a double agent of sorts within the federation, and purgatory (all the players were teleported to an island, separated into three groups, and forced to fight one another. in the end the island got blown up by a nuke).

on sunday, cc!jaiden talked about her qsmp character, ultimately stating that she was taking a long break from the server, that she had given the admins permission to do whatever they want with her character's absence, and essentially announced that unless the admins stated otherwise, q!jaiden had died in the nuke explosion in purgatory, firmly destroying the animations family.

(to me, the saddest part is that, recently, new eggs were assigned to groups of childless players, and both jaiden and roier got the chance to raise new eggs, with jaiden being assigned to empanada and roier currently being pepito's sole active parent. and all q!jaiden wanted was to be a mom. she died never knowing she had a second chance to rebuild her family. i am no okay.)

in conclusion:

THE LOVE WAS THERE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I AM CRYING IN REAL LIFE I MISS HER SO BAD. SHE'S WITH BOBBY NOW.

Catherine Parr’s depictions-part 1: large portraits

Since I’ve been unexpectedly digging in Catherine Howard and Anne of Cleves’s portraits, I’ve decided that I might just as well do same with Catherine Parr.

The uncertainity lies mainly with her miniatures(which will be in part 3). But before we look at them, we must take closer look at portraits of hers, to establish her basic features. How her features truly looked and then look at the disputed portraits.

For this I will be using mainly larger scale portraits of her. They are either full-lenght or half-lenght portraits. By the way,since 5′10′’ was lenght of her coffin, it stands to reason that she was shorter than that.

What portraits won’t show you is that her hair was probably between strawberry blond and light red, as hair taken from her tomb suggest.

One lock(and some portraits) suggest it was darker(and more red) around roots and possibly lighter lower towards ends:

The platinum blond lock is definitely fake.

There are several versions of Catherine Parr’s portrait as widow. All of them copies. Imo all of them are mislabelled. Supposedly they are after Hans Holbein the Younger. Yet they Catherine Parr as widow to Henry VIII(hence in 1547/8). Holbein died in 1543!!!  So either wrong painter, or wrong dating or both! Imo, both. 

Because even from copies, you can tell that the style of some strongly suggest we are not looking at Holbein’s workshop but rather at work of Ambrosius Bensen.

Benson’s portrait lady Stafford is on left. Catherine Parr’ on right adn it is so grossly misdated it makes me wish to cry! 

Supposedly Parr is c.1547/1548, while Stafford is c.1535(imo it is at earliest late 1530s, not mid). No way these are 10+ years apart! Not a chance! These might not even be 2 years apart. But why do I think that? Fashion!

Width of chest, is something Benson tended to overexagerate.  The style of mourning headwear, also points towards 1530s, rather than than 1550s.

The style of folded undersleeves of Stafford is also style which would fit 1538-1543, imo closer to 1538. The most important detail here is the waist-line. It’s horizontal. It’s max early 1540s.  Benson was absent from home (presumably due to work) in between 1539-1543. Perhaps he was in England!

My conclusion? It cannot be Catherine Parr as widow to Henry VIII, but as widow to baron Latimer. And that gives us the most accurate dating you could ask for! Between 2nd March and 12 July 1543. (Between death of lord Latimer and wedding to Henry VIII.) Rarely we have dating this precise. 

Such dating could bring Holbein back as possible maker, but the style imo is not his workshop.

However the painting could be misidentified and not be Catherine Parr at all! Yes, it has features very alike Parr, but that could be the reason why this could then be misidentified as Parr. However this is french-styling of necklace, and suggest that sitter is french. I cannot disprove that possibility. Imo, we cannot be certain this is indeed Parr.

Tbh for copy it is very well done. I have actually thought it was original. NTC calls it the Seaton Delaval portrait(because it is there now), but some webpages refer to it as Hastings portrait or Melton Constable(Hall), probably refering to painting’s past location and owners.

This copy shows vividly red hair(which might have not been on original) and curled up(shortlived fashion). Eyes seem grey or hazel to me, but the discoloured varnish may be playing tricks on us.

Catherine Parr, the Jersey Portrait(Private Collection?):

I tried to find more information about it, but these two webpages were basically only sources of information-and I cannot confirm accuracy of either:

 Basically it is in private collection, was concluded to be Catherine Parr and it is 16th century work(but that can still mean it is a copy). Unfortunately these are  the best quality pictures in colour that we have:

And to me this one certainly strikes closer to golden strawbery blond than to red, but it can be due to poor quality of picture and due to discoloration of varnish.

Seaton Delaval and Jersey portrait are almost exactly the same, except colour of overgown and cuffs being in blackwork in Jersey portrait. Even the pillar behind them is in exact same spot. It’s possible they were not ment to be two separate portraits, but rather that one is copy of the other. But not necessarly. Sometimes royals had multiple very similiar portraits made.

In closeup her eyes look grey, possibly hazel(grey-brown) and her hair look red, or reddish brown.

I found some webpages refering to this painting as original done in her lifetime atributed to Scrot. But National portrait Gallery which owns it clearly disagrees. It could be done after original by Scrot, but they don’t even mention that on their webpage. Though tbh I think their webpage could do with some improvements.

National Trust Collection( Anglesey Abbey, Cambridgeshire, UK to be exact) has another version of this portrait, 18th century copy. Link:

It’s too dark to have conclusive say about eye and hair colour.

The differences with previous version are negligeable-mainly the collar is different and the parlet is in blackwork’with different pattern and its edge is firmer, but today I am not trying to do lineup of Catherine Parr’s portraits. (Unless you’d want me to.)

The webpage includes videos about its restoration-where they refer to incredible Azurite pigment used for the background. They are talking about real ultramarine(just different name for it).  That alone be expensive as hell, especially given this is full-lenght portrait. But there is also gold-leaf, silver-leaf, fluorite, lots of very expensive materials were used to make it. And the materials alone are enough to conclude sitter is royalty and certainly had more than 9 days to be painted.

If we look at closeup in colour-sitter had very fair skin, the eyes are grey, the hair seems as light golden brown, but strawberry blond or light red hair can create such ilusion:

Nose appears to be flat and oddly shaped. Normally I’d say that is due to pigment instability. However I have dived deep into conservation findings upon the painting and now I am not certain about the cause, but it is an issue.

NPG notes  that ‘the underdrawing is extensive and complex to decipher. The style of the drawing is free and sketchy, only very loosely delineating some of the form and structure of the figure, such as the sleeves. This type of underdrawing, is in direct contrast to the underdrawing found in Mary I (also attributed to Master John) where the key elements of the composition are carefully transferred through a pounced technique.’

Master John didn’t take such care with underdrawing of Parr’s portrait, as he did with Mary’s. Perhaps Mary wanted to sit for it just once or had better idea how she wanted to be portrayed. Parr’s portrait vs underdrawing shows that final design was improved upon. It was changed a lot. They know this due to x-ray and infra-red analysis(bellow):

Most important changes to the face include:

- the eyes moved slightly to the right,  - hairline has be re-positioned and was originally slightly lower - nostril has been re-positioned

These changes are big problem, because this is the only original painting of Parr and we cannot trust these features 100%. 

However fear not! Under infra-red light(in middle bellow), it is obvious the face looked very alike to majority of the paintings:

And it is not that different under normal light as well. 

Bigger closeup so you can see it properly. This is Catherine Parr’s face:

It is. But before  I dive deep into what shape of nose she actually had I want to show you how easy would it be for me to say it might not be her (Mary I on right by same artist): 

Spoiler alert-it’s not Mary, they just looked more alike then you’d think.

The identification of sitter as royal is no doubt correct. The materials and jewelry certainly are conclusive on that. But assuming that jewel worn by Catherine Howard was then part of collection of Queen’s jewels worn solely by Queens, is very wrong! There are portraits of Mary and Elizabeth in jewelry worn by Queens. Hence Mary should have been included as possible sitter and I am susprised it is not mentioned anywhere that at some point they excluded her.

HOWEVER, some painters had tendency to paint anybody in such similiar way, you cannot tell them appart that well. That could have been case with master John. Both women had similiar colouring and perhaps more similiar features than you’d think, but they didn’t have same height. 

Catherine Parr was not 5′10′’-that was lenght of her coffin! She’d be much smaller, but she wasn’t short for sure(she was probably higher average), unlike Mary who was notably short! If you compare not just face-but lenght of torso and overall shape of figure, you’re realise it it is not same woman.

However if you compared just infra-red photo of face of Parr, you could easily come to wrong conclusion. I had initial bout of panic, seeing the very similiar face! Then I did my due diligence.

Catherine Parr’s portrait is photographed bit under an angle(I couldn’t find close up which wouldn’t be), however this is properly scaled down to aproximately same size of torso. Even though if you might scream that no-lady in silver dress obviously has longer torso, and I should have scaled it differently.

What you’re not taking into account is different shape of stays. I could elaborate, but long story short check where girdles disappear to the back(front changed, backside didn’t), andn where armits are. Aproximately at same level. Just women with different height, figure and shape of stays.

So imo, it’s Parr. The identification is correct. However, there might have been much bigger similiarities in facial features of Mary and Parr, and we have to take that into account in the future. It will make identifying some portraits more difficult.

Another difficulty is that we can’t tell the exact shape of nose from neither form of painting. 

I have attempted do a ‘nosejob’ upon the infra red photo, using app similiar to photoshop and retouching tool. But I never quite got it correct, so I am nof going to show you even. I thought she was looking more to front, but then there was never enough space for alla on right side, so the nose was more to side and towards left from our POV, just like Mary’s was. It’s exact  shape remains mystery to me.

Problem is the underdrawing truly is complex:

I give up. I don’t know what her nose was like. Although if you ask me, then the other painting NPG has of Parr, is imo the closest match in all features:

So perhaps that shape of nose is also very similiar to Parr’s real features. However, it might just be the case that this particular feature(nose) the artist screwed up.

Sadly, the marble effigy of Parr(the sculpture on her tomb) is not original and we cannot use it to decide this matter.

I don’t think we will be ever able to get 100% conclusive idea about the true shape of her the nose. Which is disapointing, however I believe that the nose was at least level if not pointed slightly upward. The undersketch of this original painting supports my theory. Even though due to flatness issue the nose under normal light seems to be against that(misleading us).

It’s never prominently low hanging nosetip with Parr in all copies of her portraits either(those that public agree upon). Except in one! 

I have for long suspected one painting to not be Parr, firstly solely due to hair colour. But after I found out her hair could have been strawberry blond, I let it go, telling myself the painter simply did mistake. It happens all the time! Especially in copies which this painting is. 

So I dismissed it. I can’t do that anymore. I cannot unsee it now. As always, be polite in the comments or reblogging, even if you disagree with me. And yeah, I can see the text labelling it as Catherine, Queen of Henry VIII. But it might NOT be original! Most labels aren’t! They are later add-ons. Don’t trust them-period! Or it could have been misidentified before the copy was made even!

Here is why I can’t let this be. The issue is these particular shape of brows and this shape of nose are nearly exact match for features of Anne of Cleves:

Just the brows are bit higher that they are supposed to be.

Since Anne’s eyes were hazel(brown-grey)-based upon portraits and her hair golden(strawberry blond) according to period reports(it just darkened in Holbein’s portraits), I have to conclude-it is could Anne of Cleves instead.

Imo it is. The features are truly great match to Anne.

(They are fairly good match to Parr too. As I say, Henry had a type!)

This is for me bitter pillow to swallow. Not only because I used it in my lady Jane Grey vs Catherine Parr’s post but because it brings to question the assumption that that pearl necklace is unique part of jewels of Queens of England. 

Such necklace would not be worn solely by Queen of England. I was wrong to assume otherwise and I admit that now. 

Now how do I fix my mistake? I have to redo the post with lady Jane Grey and gather all portraits with pearl necklaces of this style and compare them against Catherine Parr, Anne of Cleves, Mary I and Elizabeth I.

Because on one hand, yeah Anne of Cleves wearing it could suggest  that perhaps such necklace was more popular than we thought and some noblewomen could have it.

On other hand it could suggest that royal women at the time had such necklaces, and perhaps they were unique to members of royalty only.

 After all Anne had royal status(King’s sister). Hence comparing to 4 royals.

That will be part 2 (nope, decided on separate posts) and I am not looking foward to it, because some of Parr’s depictions shows small rounded nostrils, others prolonged ones. For that reason alone it will be difficult.

Brooklyn: Like her FC, she has brown eyes. At one point, I had thought about her having green eyes but decided not to do it.

Claire: So while Jodie has hazel eyes, I had originally thought of Claire having blue eyes (same with black hair, which she also doesn't have) but I don't edit her eyes that often so I might change it to be the same as her FC.

Adelaide: So like Claire, my FC for Adelaide (Daisy Edgar Jones) also has brown eyes, but I have also thought that Adelaide has green eyes.

Charlie: So Leesa actually has blue eyes which Charlie also has.

👪- what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings?

Brooklyn: She has 2 siblings (an older sister and an older brother) who she is very close to, along with her parents (even though they all live in different places (Brooklyn mainly resides in Los Angeles, Parker mainly resides in NYC, Elizabeth mainly lives in London, and their parents live in Oregon)

Claire: Due to her childhood, she is not very close with her parents. But overtime, she has gotten closer to her 3 younger sisters (who are triplets).

Adelaide: She is close with all of her siblings (older brother, older sister, and twin brother) and she talks to them everyday. She's also very close with her parents (who basically are also like Claire's parents as well)

Charlie: She is also close with her family (parents, 2 older sisters and 2 younger brothers) as they talk everyday and hangout whenever possible)

🎂 - when is their birthday? do they like celebrating it?

Brooklyn: Her birthday is January 26th. She enjoys spending it with friends and family

Claire: Her birthday is March 3rd. She used to not celebrate it that much as it was usually spent doing things her younger sisters wanted, but as she got older (and got close with friends and people she considers family), she enjoys it more.

Adelaide: Her birthday is September 29th and she enjoys celebrating it as her family have always made birthdays a big thing.

Charlie: Her birthday is November 17th. She likes celebrating but doesn't make a big deal about it (and if someone forgets she doesn't say anything about it).

Brooklyn: She likes both but prefers cold drinks. Her favorite is some type of lemonade.

Claire: She HATES hot drinks and loves cold drinks. Her favorite is a caramel latte.

Charlie: While she doesn't mind hot drinks, she would rather have cold drinks. Her favorite is any kind of smoothie (preferably with fruit)

So for Brooklyn, Adelaide, and Charlie, I had FC for them as the first thing. But for Claire, The first thing was that I wanted her to have black hair and blue eyes (like I said above, JC doesn't have).

🏊🏻‍♀️ - can they swim? or are they afraid of water? how well do they swim? how do they feel about swimming in the ocean?

All of my MC's/OC's can swim very well. In fact Adelaide was on the swim team for both hs and ug in which she broke records. Brooklyn, Adelaide and Charlie all like swimming in the ocean but Claire does not as she has a fear of deep water (and that there may be something nearby that could injure/kill her or someone else).

🎵 - what is their playlist like? their favourite artists? do you associate a particular song with them?

Brooklyn: Her favorite artists currently are Jason Mraz and Taylor Swift. Her favorite songs from them are Little Time by Jason Mraz and Now That We Don't Talk by Taylor Swift

Claire: She currently loves the Moulin Rouge musical soundtrack. Her favorite song is El Tango De Roxanne.

Adelaide: She loves the Six the musical soundtrack (specifically the opening night on broadway version). Her favorite song is Heart of Stone.

Charlie: She loves both the Legally Blonde Musical Soundtrack and the Mean Girls Musical Soundtrack as well as Taylor Swift. Her favorite songs are World Burn and Paper Rings.

Brooklyn: Yes, she is very good as she has done Broadway and West End shows as well as a few concerts. Her go to karaoke song is This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things by Taylor Swift.

Claire: Yes. She has auditioned for shows and made it to call backs but she doesn't do karaoke.

Adelaide: Somewhat. She tries sometimes by herself and records but she doesn't think it sounds good. She also doesn't do karaoke.

Charlie: Yes. After AME she gets some offers to do some touring and broadway musicals. When she sings karaoke, her go-to is Paper Rings by Taylor Swift.

Brooklyn: I might do an AU where Brooklyn and Thomas never met during the books and she was a judge on The Masked Singer and Thomas is a contestant and they start dating from that.

Claire: I have the Actor AU for her but I also want to continue that a little more in the near future. I don't have another AU for her at the moment

Adelaide: I am currently working on a Dancing with The Stars AU and I'm thinking of doing an Actress Au for her as well.

Charlie: I am working on a roomates Au.

Brooklyn: She had auditioned for the tour version of Six before heading to Hollywood, which she didn't get. But then we know she got the Broadway version later.

Claire: When she auditioned for Moulin Rouge during the reset, she initially auditioned to play Nini or one of the Can Can dancers (ensamble), not Satine. When she made callbacks, they added Satine into the mix.

Adelaide: Adelaide and her twin brother (Atlas) are not born on the same day. Adelaide was born on September 29th at 11:57pm while Atlas was born on September 30th at 12:10am.

Charlie: Charlie and Derek are the same height (5'11), even though that is most likely not the actual height of their FC's.

TVDU TIMELINE IN MY CANON

This tends to be one of the most controversial topics out there, but since canon has confirmed that season 4 of Legacies takes place 3 years after season 5 of The Originals, I'm going to map out what that means in the timeline of what we see on the show with my personal canon. The timeline on the show (particularly Legacies) is just… super compacted, so if anyone hasn’t watched Legacies or actually cares about spoilers… beware. (note: This is revised based off the original meta I posted here.)

If you pay attention to the words and the dialogue in the show, they actually drop a fair number of hints as to the passage of time during the episodes. In the past, I always assumed that it followed the same timeline as most shows, where each season is roughly equivalent to one year, and with episode air dates matching with what’s happening canonically on the show, but it’s actually not the case in Legacies. Between the pandemic and general wonky primetime airing schedules, the timeline is a little more difficult to follow and not spelled out so neatly. 

Examples of the above include early S1 where the first few episodes are literally happening over the course of several days, maybe two weeks. There’s a few times the characters say things like “yesterday” or “a few days ago” or “last week” in their dialogue which I use to track the timeline.

Starting from the top, S5 tells us that Hope is 15 at the time that all of that plays out, and there’s an unknown time jump between the end of TO and the beginning of Legacies. In my canon, she is 15, almost 16 when the end of TO occurs and she loses her father and uncle. She takes the summer off from the school to grieve, while also learning to control her wolf side, and she is 16 when she rejoins the school, but she also spends half a year being a loner and watching Cutthroat Kitchen in her room. S1 begins while Hope is a few months shy of her 17th birthday on May 2.

Like I mentioned above, the first few episodes of S1 happen very quickly (going to find Raf and Landon, Landon stealing the knife, the dragon, the football game, the discovery of the monsters, the twins’ birthday). These all happen in a matter of days, maybe two weeks at the most. When the Honor Council stuff is happening, Lizzie asks Raf to the twins’ birthday “on Friday”, so we know it’s coming up quick. And the twins’ birthday is the first real date that we have confirmed on the show. So 1x06 is occurring on March 15. The next real “date” we have is in 1x12, where we know the school is on spring break. Now idk about y’all but in the States and when I was in school, the latest spring break ever seemed to be was like early/mid-April? So it sounds like the gap between 1x06 and 1x12 is a handful of weeks at most, which makes sense. During this time is the whole part where Hope goes and gets Landon back, the djinni episode, and the slug debacle. As far as the passage of time goes, there isn’t a lot of it during these plot points. S1 plays out over the course of like... three months, and Hope throws herself into Malivore right before her 17th birthday.

S2 picks back up at the beginning of the next school year and Hope crawls out of Malivore probably in August? Since it's after the Fourth of July but before the school year starts. Unfortunately, events like the Miss Mystic Falls Pageant and Founders Day don’t actually have set dates in canon so it’s difficult to tell what the passage of time is supposed to be like. However, we do know that 2x08 (the Santa episode) occurs in October. So the first half of S2 takes place over the course of a month or so? After that, the next hint of time that we get is the culmination of the season, where Dark Josie intends to push up the Merge timeline and do it on the twins’ birthday of that year. So we’re back to March 15 of the next year, and two seasons have passed in the span of one in-canon year. 

Now this is where the timeline gets even MORE messed up because of the pandemic and the weird airing schedules. But 3x01-3x04 were always supposed to be part of S2, so that’s where I’m putting it. Given the reactions by Alyssa and the rest of the witches in 3x01, not that much time has passed since Dark Josie was banished, there is again urgency with Raf’s problem, the musical, and then the final confrontation with the Necromancer where she loses Landon. 

There is likely another time jump after 3x04, because Kaleb references Sheriff Mac moving to Savannah with Maya, and Josie is working on her transfer over to MFHS. I’m guessing that most public schools aren’t going to handle transfer requests at the end of the school year, so it sounds like we’re back to the end of the summer again by the time 3x05 happens. This also makes sense in context of what’s happening in the A plot, where Hope is losing herself in her search for Landon, which probably would actually take months. However, once she finds the Monkey’s Paw and Cleo enters the picture, things begin to pick up again. Hope has also turned 18 during this period.

Now I’ll be perfectly frank, I only sat through S3 once and I still haven't fully watched the back half of S4 so I’m not as in tune with those episodes as much as I am with the others, but again, it does feel like time moves quickly in S3. With the monsters constantly coming and the appearance of golem Landon to push along the narrative, I can believe that this happens over the course of a few months, taking us to maybe November or December of that year, approximately a year and a half since S1 began. And of course, once Mali-Landon leaves, everything kicks up a notch. Like with S2, 4x01-4x04 were meant to be part of S3, and that’s where it makes sense narratively. 

Hope makes the realization that she needs to become the tribrid in the Star Wars episode, and everything from that point on shoehorns her into that plot. Again, we don’t have direct dates or events to mark the passage of time, but just going off what happens in canon, from the time they wake up from the vision quest to the end of 4x04, I don’t think there are any days where the Squad is just taking a break and lounging around (with the exception of 4x03, but I wouldn’t call that lounging around). 

Now we know that there is no timeskip between 4x04 and 4x05 because Lizzie directly alludes to the night before in her opener, so everything that’s happened since the beginning of the show has now occurred within something like two years (not the four I was assuming up until now). Again, with the urgency of the plot, Hope is not just sitting around and twiddling her fingers once the threat of Triad comes up, and the Squad is not waiting for Hope to come back. Hope’s actions include learning about Triad, having her misadventures with Clarke, Salvatore Idol at the school, her confrontation with actual Triad and Aurora, and her confrontations with Lizzie. Similarly, there is no time jump between 4x09 and 4x10, as the episode tells us. All of this is happening in a span of weeks, not months. 

All that said, by the time she has gone through the events of Legacies and is struggling with her humanity, about three years have passed since Hayley, Klaus and Elijah died, and about two years have passed since S1 starts. Hope was 16 at the time S1 begins (having turned 16 a little while after the S5 finale of TO, and taking the summer off to grieve, and mostly spending the first half of the year in her room watching Cutthroat Kitchen by herself or recruiting with Alaric. She is just about to turn 17 by the time she jumps into Malivore, actually turns 17 while in Malivore, and a few months shy of her 19th, when she has her first death in 4x03. 

This functionally doesn't change much of how I was playing Hope before. I've always played that she is 18 when she fully activates her tribrid side, permanently sealing her at that age. The only real difference is that she doesn't take a gap year between her parents' death / the new school year, just probably the last month of school and summer break. She returns that fall, but remains a recluse until February or March of the following year, which is when S1 of Legacies begins. It does mean she's only had her wolf for a handful of months, so her control is not nearly as stable as what we see in the pilot (aka easily shifting back and forth at will) and will likely play a role in her early characterization.
