For 2023 I’ve also decided to start a knitting journal, or more broadly a craft journal.
I did bullet journaling in college and loved the flexibility and adaptability of it so I decided to adapt it for my knitting.
I personally, like to use a paper and have some journals leftover which fit into the faux leather travelers notebook. I want this to be a journal I can edit and change around to fit my crafting so I set it up like I did my journals in college.
To keep it simple so I am more likely to use it I stuck to doing an outline in pencil and might decorate the pages later. Don’t feel pressured to make it look instagram ready, this journal is supposed to be used and doesn’t need to be perfect. I tried doing the pretty spreads I saw on instagram and pinterest and while they look nice, I found myself not wanting to fill them out and it made my journal feel useless.
There are two main sections, the first is my “static” pages, — so trackers and lists will be kept there.
For trackers I included:
Notions/Needles/Hooks
Stash (yarn name, weight, amount, project decided?)
Stash Busting Progress (monthly)
Gift project trackers
The second is my pattern notes and a journal section.
My project pages include the pattern name, needle size, yarn, start date, who or what it’s for and then general notes. The notes I want to leave open for me to be able to add any alterations I might do.
For my printed patterns I dug out an old three ring binder from college and plan to keep them all in there. In the future, I’ll add some dividers for categories like: sweaters, shawls and accessories.

Going into this no buy year, I knew I was going to need a few things to help keep me in line. These are the tools I’ll be using to help me succeed in 2024:
1) StyleBook (link to Apple App Store, but I’m sure it’s on other devices). I have been using StyleBook since late 2020 to track my clothing purchases, wears, and costs per wear. I have a whole system for this, which I’ll explain in a seperate post.
Stylebook can also be used to make outfit montages. For example, here’s what I’m wearing today:
Tumblr media
I’ll mostly be using this method to display outfits here, though I’m sure I’ll take some full outfit photos as I go.
2) Various fashion media. Books, magazines, YouTube videos, Vogue Runway- all sources of inspiration and knowledge to help me get the most out of my clothes.
3) You folks. I made this blog so I’d have people to keep me accountable. Just knowing that someone is watching is a great incentive to get me going. Thanks, y’all.

No Buy 2023 - Art Supplies
Hello, hello and Good Morning! It's not quite January anymore to make new year resolutions but about a month ago I decided I need to do something about my art supply hoarding tendencies :D;;; Even if I'm not even close to what I see on art videos, it doesn't quite sit well with me when I have more than I use and clutter is something I don't like around me.
So! This year, let's tackle some art supplies with reckless abandon!!
Step 1 - Catalog all your supplies I want to say this was a tough one but it was actually fairly easy for me. I could mostly name everything from the top of my head xD:; And to be expected the most glaring issue with me was all the unfinished sketchbooks that I keep piling. I listed, ahem...about fourteen sketchbooks... 2 of which are pass half point to finish, 8 of which are started and for one reason or another abandoned and rest are not even opened.
Tumblr media
Whenever I get the urge to buy new sketchbooks I will remind myself of the list I made. I'm fairly sure I got some more hiding in random corners too.
Anyway! Target list:
Tumblr media
Step 2 - Discard what is no longer usable Ok testing everything did take time but it did also cut some chunk of art supplies. It also made me realize I had some markers I barely used and they had dried out exactly cause I had barely used them... a lesson to learn. Again. About a year ago I noticed some of my fave colors have dried cause I was savoring them maybe a bit too much lol. Once more the copics are holding up like absolute troopers. Sad to say the spectrum noir markers just dry really fast, especially if you aren't using them as soon as you open them. They are still wonderful markers mind you!
Tumblr media
Well, I don't plan to use my copics with reckless abandon but I do plan to use all the watercolors I have for I have quite a lot xD;; including tubes, another set and gouache set that I have stashed away;;;
Step 3 - Pair the materials! I usually tend to make a test ground page at the start of every sketchbook but if I'm to test everything ... I may burn out so, I'll just stick to quick tests and if something doesn't work out, turn a page and carry on.
Tumblr media
Step 4 - Write down the progress! If you're like me, you exist with little lists and check box and see everything as little exp bar that you feel and celebrate when you complete it :D;; And this challenge is no different for me. Every month I will be writing down what I've used, did I actually used all of it, did I learn or enjoy this medium etc...
But yes, this will be my process for the year! Maybe by end of December I will have a long post of what I finished, what I didn't etc :D;; hopefully more finished than unfinished! At the end art is personal and it should be done in a way that sparks joy for you. For me, I need order in my compulsive doodling tendencies. Unfinished things stress me and I hope I get to close the last pages of some sketchbooks and throw away some empty art supplies now that they served their purpose - maybe even discover that I really enjoy some mediums I barely had used before \o/
Tumblr media
Thank you for stopping by, dear reader! I hope you have a wonderful week full of inspiration and ideas! Maybe this little read inspired you to catalog your own art supplies and do some spring cleaning!

Okay so I will take a better photo of this when I’m able, but as I continue to do the Yarn No Buy [one year strong as of December 31st, 2022] I want a visual reference of where I started. I’m gonna reassess on when/if I want to buy yarn again every 3 months in 2023, and I’m interested to see how my stash dwindles between then and now.

i'm actually so fucking sick of zionists using phrases such as "Was it worth it, Hamas?" cause literally what the fuck are y'all yapping about??? Israel has been indiscriminately bombing gaza in front of our eyes since last October, Israel has murdered more than 30 thousands Palestinians within 5 months, Israel is forcefully starving gaza, Israel is the one committing war crimes everyday, Israel is continuing genocide and ethnic cleansing. Israel. is. illegally. occupying. Palestine.
we all know who are the perpetrators here. and zionists can't gaslight people into "hamas started it" bullshit anymore. everyone is actually sick of Israel's dumb colonialism propaganda where they just repeat same old tactics “how dare you palestinians resist us, after we have your stolen land, freedom, human rights and subjugated your people under fascist colonial regime.”
Israel carry out atrocities in broad daylight and then go ahead blame Palestinian resistance for the said act of savagery they've performed, "O their audacity!" indeed!

you're in the habit of denying yourself things.
if someone asked you directly, you would say that you love a little treat. you like iced coffee and getting the cookie. you drink juice out of a fancy cup sometimes, and often do use your candles until they gutter out helplessly.
but you hesitate about buying the 20 dollar hand mixer because, like. you could just use your arms. you weren't raised rich. you don't get to just spend the 20 dollars (remember when that could cover lunch?), at least - you don't spend that without agonizing over it first, trying to figure out the cost-benefits like you are defending yourself in front of a jury. yes, this rice cooker could seriously help you. but you do know how to make stovetop rice and it really isn't that hard. how many pies or brownies would you actually make, in order to make that hand mixer worthwhile?
what's wild is that if the money was for a friend, it would already be spent. you'd fork over 40 without blinking an eye, just to make them happy. the difference is that it's for you, so you need to justify it.
and it sneaks in. you ration yourself without meaning to - you don't finish the pint of ice cream, even though you want to. the next time you go to the store, you say ah, i really shouldn't, and then you walk away. you save little bits of your precious things - just in case. sometimes you even go so far as putting that one thing in your shopping cart. and then just leaving it there, because maybe-one-day, but not right now, there's other stuff going on.
you do self-care, of course. but you don't do it more than like, 3 days in a row. after that it just feels a little bit over-the-edge. like. you can't live in decadence, the economy is so bad right now, kid.
so you don't buy the rice cooker. you can-and-will spend the time over the stove. you can withstand the little sorrows. denial and discipline are practically synonyms. and you're not spoiled.
it's just - it's not always a rice cooker. sometimes it is a person or a job or a hug. sometimes it is asking for help. sometimes it is the summer and your college degree. sometimes it is looking down at scabbed knees and feeling a strange kind of falling, like you can't even recognize the girl you used to be. sometimes it is your handprint looking unsteady.
sometimes it is tuesday, and you didn't get fired, and you want to celebrate. but what is it you like, even? you search around your little heart and come up empty. you're so used to denying that all your desires draw a blank.
oh fuck. see, this is the perfect opportunity. if you had a mixer, you'd make a cake.

It’s February once again. My wip pile has been pretty stable since I committed to destashing this year but I heard a cool idea from my Local Yarn Store. It’s called F-it February and the whole point is to finish, fix or frog your wip pile in the month (or get as close as possible).
I’m going to do a toned down version this month and I’ve got a few projects I want to finish.
The second mitten
Campfire Cozy shawl
Crochet houndstooth throw
If I can knock out these few projects I’ll only have one wip left. My last wip is a blanket made of granny squares so it’s going to take a while to complete. I still have a little over 200 squares to crochet and then need to sew them all.
I know I can finish the mitten by the end of the weekend, I’m about to start shaping the thumb and after that it’s a breeze.
For the shawl I think once I’ve finished the mitten it’ll become my travel project. I have three 100g hanks for it, so once I’ve used those it’s done. I’m in the second section of it, which is a lace repeat but the rest is garter or stockinette.
The houndstooth might need to be frogged but I think if I add a border it could work as a lap throw for when working at the desk. I want to avoid frogging if possible because it would just add more yarn to my stash that I’d need to get rid of.
My other project might be a few hats from some scrap yarn. These aren’t for anyone specifically, the scraps just aren’t quite enough to be worth a lot to anyone.

there's something so poetic about coyote vs acme being the thing that causes wb's 'the producers' ass scheme of shitcanning movies for tax breaks to blow up in their face and cause them to turn to the camera, blink twice, and dissolve into a little pile of ash that their eyes fall down into with a little bounce
