the problem with my sdv farmer as a character in the fiction of the game is. i would just be telling the bachelorettes about my crop maximizing #strats just like i tell them to my partner (who hasn't played sdv since pre ginger island days) who has to listen to me even though. it's boring as hell. sorry girlie but if you plant wheat during the last week of summer as your non-multiple yeild crops mature and are picked. you don't have to till almost at all come fall. get back here, i need to tell you about the effect of flowers on honey production! you can do the same thing with sunflowers to transition into fairy rose and get more value during the growing period! just don't plant every space near the hives with sunflowers! put some wheat in there 4 days before fall 1 to make the aforementioned tilling skip work!!!

"con artist" is maybe the profession with the biggest gap between How Cool They Are In Media and How Cool They Are In Real Life

#tbh i'm a little fascinated by real life con artists. like elizabeth holmes. and what's her name who was the 2010s fake heiress #i wanna say anna something? is that even remotely right? i'm not looking it up. #but you can't even really pretend that that shit isn't true crime with no grisly murder details (...usually). it gets Not Fun very quick #during the stretch of 3 days i watched a few illuminaughtii vids. the lulu roe one was fucking. ghoulish. reveling in obscure details #and still. i will always enjoy a fictional con artist #and you do kind of need to weave real life exploitation and harm into your nice story that excuses the damage done #but uh. so it goes. organized crime isn't cool in real life but who doesn't love the sopranos or breaking bad or the yakuza games

What made the Junimos believe this twenty-something loser could be their saviour?

Why does everyone accept their behaviour, and choose to believe they're a friend when their behaviour is almost stalkerish?

Why did Mr Qi believe they were interesting enough to meet?

When anyone else visits the old community centre, they find an abondened building with rotted wood beams and plants growing through the floor, but when the Farmer explores, the spirits of a different world greet them at the door.

Everyone knows of these legendary fish, rumoured, but never seen. The Farmer can find them all with unnatural ease. Willy has worked in the fishing industry for his whole life and he only knew of their existence, and has not once been able to find one.

The explosive force of several kilos of dynamite should be enough to shred a person to pieces, but, it just knocks them around a little.

Aliens crash landed on his property. The witch cursed his farm, the skeletons cursed his luck. The fairies gave him blessings in return.

Why is it that when anyone else looks down, they see dirt, but when the Farmer looks, they find an ancient fossil of unknown origin? Why does regular food and drink change them at the atomic level?

Is it a blessing or a curse to be at the centre of the vortex, forever forced to play out century-old vendettas and be the change in a thousand lives? Wherever the farmer goes, the world moves with them, twisting itself around to curse and appease them as much as possible. Is the Farmer drawn to the supernatural, or is it the supernatural that finds the farmer so alluring?

And everywhere they go, Mr Qi watches, and waits.

#i like that mr qi is there. he's kind of like flowey in that. he's still part of a video game but he's a fellow player within the fiction #his ability to break the fourth wall as a character within the narrative ties him to you in a way the other npcs don't have #it's a thing that has to be pretty subtle to work because. well it's gimmicky. and out of place outside of video games #but yeah. imo your farmer is like that because they're a puppet controlled by a being from a higher dimension (you) #with access to arcane knowledge (wiki) and even the fabric of the universe itself (the programming) #and like. yeah. you can do a horror about it but also #there's something interesting in it not being scary too #like if a higher being visited us irl. and mostly what they wanted was to get to know us. and have fun. and forget their stress #who would blame them? that's why i don't mind that it's not overly commented on that you're the chosen one many times over #it's done just enough to let the dream go on a little longer than it would if it was entirely contained in its own fiction

i am so. not normal. about skizz saying that he didn't feel nervous before the Gamers Outreach charity event 2024 was starting. because he felt at home. like he said he still feels nervous in his day job even after 18 years of working there! But doing the charity event? he felt like he was home. like he was where he should be.

contrast that with impulse saying he was sweating to hell and back and preparing for every single way the event could go wrong
