TMI Tuesday
Another week gone by, and here we are at another Tuesday already!
Please remember: if you read a fic you enjoyed on AO3 or on Tumblr (not just mine), please take the time to comment and/or leave kudos. It means a lot to the content creators and I have noticed lately that a lot of writers (this one included) are feeling the lack.
Writer to write engagement is part of why fandom is lifeblood. Writing can be a very solitary and lonely activity, and when writers talk, it can enhance, it can inspire, it can bolster confidence, it can do ALL of those things, but lately, one reason and another - lack mostly - it has had the opposite effect (not just for me). That’s one reason that I will ALWAYS send a TMI question to my fellow writers.
Posted this week:
Nothing posted this week. I meant to, but time got away with me. Hopefully I’ll find the time to post something soon, I have almost finished the next chapter of Disparate Pathways, after all.
On the cards for this week:.
Laer o Faen - chapter 26
A near fatal encounter with the Serpents of the North leaves Greenwood the Great’s queen with but one choice, one that cost her own life, but she makes a promise to her beloved King, born of a love that has already lasted through more than an age of Middle Earth, and remains the only hope to warm a heart fallen behind a wall of despair. (Mingled Movie/book canon, the span of the entire story takes in events from the 1st - 4th Ages of Middle Earth.)
Disparate Pathways - chapter 42
Gold has a past, a past that he has rejected, but it seems one that will not let him go. Belle, daughter of Governor Maurice French has been kidnapped, along with her mother, and just as the authorities raid the organization that is holding her hostage, decides to make her own bid for freedom, unknowingly derailing an undercover sting, and Agent Milnor has not choice but to take her into ‘protective custody,’ but is he all that he seems? As the threads of the story grow more tangled and the threat to Belle, and to Gold, her appointed protector, grow ever more real, a growing, mutual attraction makes everything far more desperate and far too personal for Gold to ignore what he knows to be the truth.
Next up:
Breathe - Chapter 5
As the Lucian Alliance attack Icarus Base, Doctor Rush makes the decision that dialing back to Earth is too dangerous, though that may not at all be his reason for attempting to dial the ninth chevron, persuaded by Eli, and by something Belle had said to him previously, he substitues Earth for Icarus, and the connection is made. In spite of hurrying to urge Belle to the ‘Gate room and through the ‘Gate, neither he, nor anyone else believes that Belle actually made it on board Destiny…
Ask suggestions
Ask something about any of my fics (full list is below the cut). If you want specifics from some fics that are already outlined, you can ask about:
Disparate Pathways, Chapters 42 through 54
All Our Past Mistakes, Chapters 11 through 44
Lover’s Leap Series, Stories 15 through 31
Time’s Curse, Chapters 4 through 10
Laer o Faen, Chapter 26
Stargate: Atlantis, Harms Way or any of the 20 fics in the series.
Ask something of any of my characters in general or you can get really specific if you like - for example you might want to ask Gold from Pawn Shop a question about a chapter, a thought, a feeling… (the world is your oyster really)
Ask about my process as a writer, what makes me tick,, or even ask about me personally. There’s also This Guessing Game that is still available for you to play.
Also, if you want to see a specific character or fic featured in Three Things Thursday, or Saturday Secret, feel free to send in prompts, if no one does, then either the choice will be random or they just won’t happen at all. I made an analogy for why that might be in a different post about a car stuck in the mud with spinning wheels.

Miami Medical - what the hell
OUAT inadvertently brought Dr Eva Zambrano into my life when I inevitably started going through Lana’s filmography.
Why world? Why have you brought this sweet, innocent child to my life, only to have her stay for 13 freaking episodes?!
Listen, it's obviously a run-of-the-mill medical show. A bunch of cliche story lines thrown together. But Eva. Eva. God damn it. Such a great character. Hardass but incredibly kind and compassionate doctor? Who's an immigrant and looks after her patients beyond saving them from their physical injuries? Who's willing to take personal risks in order to uphold her values? A person who will cry after a patient dies, even though she works in an environment that in reality becomes more and more dehumanizing as medical personnel is brought to the edge of sanity by constantly working in understaffed and overworked conditions?
I just want to wrap her up in lots of blankets and makes sure the world won't hurt her 😭
Beyond the wonder that is Eva Zambrano, lets talk sexism because, come on, it's me, I'll talk about the sexism.
The show wasn't without its sexist issues, and while they managed to largely steer clear of the worst offences there was something that made me snort in derision: Proctor not telling Eva what happened the night he took her home after she had too much to drink.
Mate. You're not being mysterious when you're dodging her and not giving her a straight answer when she asks what happened on a night she doesn't remember, while you were there, sober enough to know every detail. You're being an asshole. A major asshole. For all she knew, you, her boss, assaulted her. Get fucked or get your story straight.
Proctor gets extra points in being a major cunt when after he explains to her that nothing happened (at the end of the episode, obviously), and she thanks him for being a gentleman, i.e. for not taking advantage of her, his co-worker, when she had a bad case of too much to drink on an empty stomach, he says something along the lines of "yeah, I'm a gentleman, my biggest flaw". I.e. yeah, I didn't assault you, what an idiot I am. Get fucked, Proctor.
Obviously, the whole thing was to set-up a love triangle between Eva, her boss, and the other doctor. However, as with most "love triangles" this is actually more of a corner, with the woman stuck between 2 guys, and it was awful. And Eva deserved better.
