What kind of outfits/clothing pieces were a staple in Demri Parrott's everyday wear?

Barbara Dearaujo: “Demri was a fashion nut. She loved everything vintage. Victorian style dresses, 70’s stuff, overalls and combat boots. She wore things no one else could even try to pull off without looking like a weirdo but she always seemed to make the weirdest things look cute and cool. I’m pretty sure Demri was one of the girls who started the so-called ‘Seattle Grunge Look’, for girls at least. Demri was not a rocker chick, she totally had her very own style going on that we all secretly wanted to emulate.

In the early 90’s she dressed in all kinds of crazy yet cute clothes, anything retro or vintage. She loved long dresses, skirts, tutus, overalls and Doc Martins, hand-made clothes, she never really wore jeans and t-shirts, it was always something you’d never think of wearing but looked great on her and made you wish you would thought of this type of thing but even if you had it probably wouldn’t of looked as cool on you. She had that tiny little body that looks great in clothes.

She always wore her hair really long like to her butt or longer and she had thick wavy auburn hair. It was usually knotted and dred locked here and there but knotted or not it always looked cool. She wore black nail polish and when she wore make up she used maybe some black mascara and red lips but she didn’t usually wear a lot of make up, maybe except for lipstick when she went out. She was also the first girl I met who used her lipstick to add blush to her cheeks.” [5]

Ryan Kalsbeck: “Layne and Dem had that full on vintage clothing styles mixed with a hippie, new grunge rock twist. Homemade glass beaded long necklaces and bracelets, funky hats, hair sticks. Dem had pink lace and satin knickers that were real and from the 1900s.”

Kathleen Austin: “Someone once told me she would show up at a club in an outfit and the next night there would be several girls copying it.

She could pull articles of clothing that no one would think to combine and she would look adorable. She once designed a skirt from boxer shorts. I saw it on paper. As far as I know, it never came to fruition.” [6]

Shawna Murphy: “I had one of her necklaces ‘Forever’. It was like black cut glass stones, three strands with a gold clasp. She wore a lot of old-timey costume jewelry.” [6]

Tracy Johnson: “She did not want to be known as the girlfriend of a rock star and did whatever the hell she pleased but was friendly and personable to everyone she met. She wanted to be a model that’s why there are so many pictures of her posing. One thing that was funny. We were in Canada (canvouver, as we called it) and Dem couldn’t find Layne and was drunk and pissed off. But she has to pee, so we stopped and she walked in this alley, many people were around, and she just squatted and peed, then pulled up her long johns with her tutu tucked in the back of it and started to walk away. She was gonna find him come hell or high water, even with the whole backside of her tutu tucked into her long johns and wearing converse, of course.

A lot of things she wore didn’t go together, like long johns with big baggy overall shorts and a frilly blouse with cowboy boots. It doesn’t make a lot of sense but you would have to know Demri to understand.” [6]

I know this blog is for Demri's career, but I'd like to know something about her personal life. What was her relatioship with the other AIC members? And their girlfriends? Do you know? Thank you very much, you have a lovely blog here, very underrated, I hope more people find it and share it, as sadly today Demri is more remembered bc her Layne/AIC connexion or drugs than for her own careers.

I actually don't know, there's very few photos of Demri with AIC members or their girlfriends.

This is the only photo of her with the band (plus girlfriends that no one seems to recognize, from the 1991 MTV Awards). They look all in friendly terms:

She was touring with the band when they were opening for Van Halen. She stopped doing that when it became "an issue" (so I've read, I suppose it means drugs).

There's some photos of Demri with Sean Kinney (aka the funny drummer), from 1990 and 1991:

And one with Mike Starr, from 1991 as well... shared by fan Mike Anderchek @anderchekmike:

She was also close to his sister Melinda (in 1988 by Randy Houser):

No photos with Jerry, aka "The Riff Lord" (who was the closest to Layne, like matching tattoos, lived together before AIC signed in, etc), but with one of his girlfriends at a time (he dated multiple women, saying he doesn't believe in monogamy), Krisha Augerot. They actually worked together, so maybe Krisha met Jerry through Demri?

Krisha (and Jerry, but not in this photo) would join Demri and Layne with Fabiola and other friends for drumming circles at Magnuson Park. This is from 1989 (all the info here...):

Demri also joined AIC in 1992 when took regufee at theJoshua Tree park flying over the LA riots after the murder of Rodney King by the police. I've just seen pics of Demri and Layne,no other band members or their couples.

I don't know anything about Mike Inez, he replaced Mike Starr in 1993, but I don't think she was close to him...

It would be interesting to know more about her friendship with the band and the other girlfriends. I'm pretty sure when they were touring together the women had so fun visiting all these cool places and cheering backstage or, in Demri's case, front row!

This past month has been an incredibly difficult time for me, my family and close friends. October was the anniversary of my husband’s passing and my dad’s, they passed 3 days apart from one another (same month, year). Demri’s brother Devin died on the same day as my husband. Demri passed October 29, 1996, her brother Derek, passed February 2002 and now her youngest sibling and friend, not only to me, but to so many others; Dave, Nov. 7th. • I started making the memory boxes as a way to keep myself motivated and my mind positive. I started with a box I made for my closest friend Paul Hernandez, using all of his photos, then Melinda & Gayle Starr, one for Demri’s mom Kathleen & most recently, I made one for photographer, Krista Kay. • I refurbished 3 of my jewelry boxes, I using all her photos. I’m in the middle of making 2 that are pictured (pics 2-4). I would like to mention that I also make these for my own mental health. It helps me stay in a positive mind set. Photographer and friend Alison Dyer has given me her blessing in making these boxes. • Some info: I use cigar boxes & some other wooden boxes. I’m very picky about the boxes and they are not cheap. All of the products I work with; paint, brushes, mediums, decor, it’s all chosen just for the boxes. Nothing else. • I’ve been working with @demri_lara_parrott and she’s been fielding inquiries for me. I just got a feeling that you were one of those I didn’t get the feeling originally know but I got the gist

Oh my gosh hey I have a question do medical doctors get to eat fast food safely? I’m not suggesting that they always should because if people don’t know how to treat other people like human beings what the fuck

I know that some of the medical doctors are looking like boiling lobsters right now therefore I had to calm the fucking shit way down way way down

You do realize that you don’t get to keep shit that you stole from royalty right I’m just asking because some of this stuff is going way way way up way up

Call starr why not why I guess it’s my questions oh is it I don’t think it’s just your question especially you know some of these boys they’ve been giving me charity yes is Kelvin starr in college? Is there even a point to sending him to college?

If you don’t have a daddy who cares about your higher education send send it I mean when I get in trouble if I do that it’s kind of like is the phone nice to Sergeant Sergeant Shepherd or or certain other people you have to send that kind of energy to African-Americans OK it’s just that I have a lot of faith in a lot of people I have more faith then people than I thought I could keep because I’ve seen a lot of disappointment in but I’m not thinking that it’s easy for either side any side however you interpret the side sometimes we wear stuff but it’s just really bizarre seeing yes well there a treasures to find an Indian super Hills and that’s where we have to help the African-American community in the African communities in the black communities all around the world and is what I said but either way

I’m not like Haley I’m not about giving somebody fresh to try and appropriate their entire culture I thought that it was disgusting and it was her idea of being a charitable racist that was not fresh so I guess you can just job right on ha ha I said jog but

maria hill has seen a lot of things during her time with shield.

she's held her tongue while fury made monsters, stood by as hundreds were killed.

but the ghost initiative?

there, she draws the line.

she marches into fury's office, all rage and determination in a way he hasn't seen before, three of his best agents at her side.

he didn't think that hill would tell romanoff, carter, and may.

didn't think that she would do a lot of things, actually, but he knows now that he should've remembered that she was always full of surprises.

she issues an ultimatum: they actually help ava, or the four of them tear the agency to the ground.

it's a little much for may's taste, but it's a matter of principle, and so she stays by hill's side.

the next thing that the four agents know, they have a new little sister and helen cho has flown in to help find a cure.

they should've thought this through more.
