So my idea of a crossover between Death Note and Durarara!! would be to have Mikado find the Death Note.
A lot of people think Izaya would be the Light Yagami figure, but Izaya isn't the master manipulator genius type that a lot of people think he is. Yes, he can and will manipulate and he is certainly bright, but not in some grandiose, "I have everything set up and planned" sort of way. He likes to have the image of that, but it's not who he is. He prefers the randomness of it all. He loves humans, and therefore treats them like the Sims left on free will, with the occasional little tweak on his part. On that same note, Izaya wouldn't kill random people. He could care less if some people get hurt by his actions, or if they decide to kill each other, but killing is not his forte. The only exceptions to his style are those he dislikes (eg. Shizuo, Saika, maybe Celty) and the odd jobs that require him to take such actions in order for him to get paid (eg. the Amphisbaena arc). In these cases, his actions are more direct and involved, with him at the centre of the danger, which may involve the death of a person.
So instead I see him playing as a Ryuk figure to a much more naive and increasingly unpredictable Mikado. Watching to alleviate boredom, and occasionally poking in to get the ball rolling more.
Mikado with a Death Note is a much more interesting concept, because I can see him actually using it, granted with some hesitation from the start. While Izaya may get rid of any non human characters he considers in the way of his love for humanity (would it work on a demon sword?), Mikado would start using it in his reach for an extraordinary life. And we've seen how far he can push for that in the last arc.
I can see him finding it in the park, in the Mika Harima arc. While I considered giving it to him later, I think right from the start could help him settle into the idea of murder for the right reasons. Of course he wouldn't use it right away. Either he considers it a prank, or sees it as wrong to just test it out and kill a random person, or even just wish death upon them. He would feel tempted when he thinks Seiji and Namie killed Mika, but until he has all the evidence, he would resist.
In the Saika arc, the urge would grow stronger, but of course nobody knows who the actual Slasher is, so he has no way of confirming the books abilities by killing them. Takashit would be a good contender, but there is no final push moment there that could lead him to it.
I think the best contender for the first victims would be Horada and his group, right at the end of the Yellow Scarves arc. After chasing Anri (I know its anime only, but lets include it) and getting Masaomi severely injured, I can see Mikado asking who did this to them, and writing his name down in a sort of silent fury. It's not until the news confirms that Horada and his group were found after dying of heart attacks, when the horror of what he had done sinks in for Mikado. He would quickly hide the Death Note, vowing to not use it again, and won't touch it for a while, at least until the Akane arc.
During this time, I can see Izaya being curious as to the cause of these men dying in such a way at the exact same time. So he might investigate it.
On top of that, I can see the Death Note once belonging to Celty in this universe. She is a sort of grim reaper after all, so if she's lost her head, it's not far fetched to believe, that other aspects of her roll were lost too. Maybe Nebula and Yagiri pharmaceuticals had it, but saw no use for it, and threw it away. Maybe after seeing Horada's death on the news, Celty realises what's happened, remembers her Death Note, and rushes to try and find it before anything else happens.
Perhaps Izaya notices this and decides to try and find it himself. And this is what leads to him finding out it's Mikado who has it, at about the same time Aoba offers to help purge the Dollars. Izaya doesn't really do anything about it, and instead decides to watch how things go. And to prolong it a little, he decides to keep Mikado's secret identity as this universes "Kira" safe.
And of course, after being given the idea to "purge" the Dollars by Aoba, Mikado then begins to consider using the Death Note to do so. His next group of victims are the ones who kidnapped Chikage's girlfriend. And from there, he starts killing anyone in the Dollars who misbehaves. This goes hand in hand with his hope for the Dollars to become like an urban legend. Whether or not he sticks to the murder as a last resort, or he just ignores Aoba as an option I have left undecided. I say this as if I'm gonna write the full thing.
1. Mikado kills the guy who attacks Shinra. Izaya, for once, takes a disliking to his actions, because he wanted to make the guy suffer more for what he did. He doesn't specify why though. Mikado, maybe getting a little more unhinged and tactical at this point, warns Izaya that he himself has hinted at causing problems in the Dollars, and that it would be a lot easier if he wasn't around to do that anymore. Izaya has a rare moment "oh fuck, what have I done, oh fuck, this kid might kill me."
From there I don't know fully how things would go. But I do have some vague ideas for big dramatic moments and how other characters might fit into this. Some of them may be illogical and not add up, but I just think they would be cool ideas:
Can't decide if Aoba: knows about the death note, and is in a similar position; doesn't know, but is part of a growing follower base for this universes "Kira" because it's shown to benefit him in some way; or just straight up dies quickly because of endangering Anri.
Assume that Mikado has a way to ensure nobody else gets ahold of the Death Note, because if either of these guys decide they have had enough and steal it for themselves, that would just be boring.
3. Shizuo gets killed because of acting up one too many times and negatively impacting the Dollars image. Yes there is irony in that.
2. Mikado is definitely posting as "Kira" on the Dollars site, confirming why he killed certain people and ensuring the rest of the Dollars stay in line.
It also emphasises how it might be giving Mikado too much of an ego with how much power it is giving him over some of the most notorious people of Ikebukuro, further cementing the Dollars into the history of the city.
It also gives further fuel to Celty finding her Death Note.
5. The van gang could give some funny references, but they are also there to find the killer. Because they are ruining what was once a decent community.
4. Vorona wants to find and kill "Kira", because if they can kill anyone, including Shizuo, then surely they are a worthy opponent. She also has the added benefit of having a fake name.
Other "Kira" hunters might include: Simon, Akane, Masaomi and the Awakusu.
But those are all my ideas for it. They sort of came to me a while back when someone in the fandom was talking about Death Note. Can't remember who, or what about, but I finally got to have my chance to talk about it.

Stray thoughts on Kururi & Mairu
So I am probably one of the very few Kururi & Mairu fans and I want to talk about them. They are, unfortunately, victims of being anime girls from the 2000s - there are a lot of problematic things in drrr that we, as a fandom, should acknowledge and discuss. Simon, Namie, the treatment of characters like Vorona and Anri, I could go on. But right now, I want to talk about the twins.
We don’t get a lot of information on the Orihara family as a whole. All we know is that Izaya was very isolated as a child, and seemed to resent his sisters for being carbon copies of each other. So the girls decided that they would be opposites. They picked their personality traits, splitting them evenly. That’s why they act opposite in the chat room - they do it all on purpose.
I can only speculate here, but it seems like the Orihara parents may not have been around a lot. Actually nobody seems to have parents in drrr. Why was Masaomi able to do all that while he was in middle school???? And the only parents we see are awful - like Shingen?????? He’s our parental figure in this show????Anyway. It’s a pretty common headcanon that Izaya’s parents were not very present, so we can only assume the same for the girls. Izaya, due to his own issues, resented them. All they had was each other. And that is not good!
If you think about it, their codependence is really sad. They’ve had to rely on each other for everything. Even though they purposefully act different from one another, they need the other one in order to feel whole. Izaya said they were basically the same person, and they changed that. But in the process, they cut themselves in half. They’re still operating as one.
When we meet the twins, they seem pretty comfortable around the people Izaya frequently interacts with - mainly Shizuo. He clearly knows them, and knows them well enough to evade them gently. He’s a lot kinder to the girls, even if they get on his nerves.
They quickly befriend the van gang, Mikado and Anri, Shinra and Celty, and Akane. They are present at the contentious Hot Pot Party. And Izaya knows that. He knows his sisters are hanging out with all the people on his chessboard.
Suddenly, they’re part of the chatroom. They’re directly interacting with Aoba (which, are they not kinda parallels to Anri and Masaomi to Aoba’s Mikado??). They have their dojo. Akane Awakusu looks up to them. And even though they get bullied, they have a community to fall back on. They’re not alone anymore.
It kinda seems like everyone who knows Izaya stepped in as big siblings to the twins. They continuously reject him, and he rejects them back. But they have something he doesn’t. Something he’s clearly jealous of.
They’ve never really been alone, they’ve always had each other.
And yeah, the canon portrays that in a super weird way. Sometimes they take the “twisted love” concept too far. But these characters are a lot more interesting than the jokes made at their expense. Sometimes I just pretend the canon isn’t true. I don’t like it! I wish they didn’t do it!!! That’s why I never used to talk about how much I like the twins - people will always fall back on the same joke like it’s 2009. Sometimes you just have to snatch them out of the canon. Take them out of their shitty narrative, they’re mine now >:3
Unfortunately, a lot of the female characters in drrr get ignored or misrepresented by the fandom. Even Celty! Hell, the anime goes out of its way to not make Celty the main character. We get stuck with Mikado for most of the show’s run.
I guess I just find it odd that the fandom doesn’t give the same grace and understanding to the girls as they do the guys. Izaya is everyone’s poor little meow meow (and I’m including myself in that statement) but what about the TWINS???
Idk I think their parallels to Izaya are really interesting, they have everything he doesn’t have. They’re still strange, and may not fit in with their peers, but they’re treated with respect by the very people Izaya focuses most of his time and energy on.
I also think it is so funny that Izaya had two little freak sisters the entire time and we find out about them in an OVA lmao
Like the funniest thing you can do to Izaya is give him annoying little sisters and then not mention them until it’s funny to do so
It’s like when Roger Rabbit can’t take his hand out of the handcuff until it’s funny, it is so funny to introduce these two after you’ve built Izaya up so much. Like he’s just a weird guy with weird sisters. He gets mad when they join his chatroom where he pretends to be a teenage girl. They’re a cringefail family and we simply must respect that.

Durarara!! x Blue Lock AU
tagging: @lizzieonka @gwennevlis
starting off with:
Isagi Yoichi as Mikado Ryuugamine
Bachira Meguru as Masaomi Kida
Nagi Seishiro as Anri Sononhara
So, to explain a bit:
Isagi and Bachira are them as based on colors: Mikado can be associated with blue or with a transparent color (as are the Dollars) and I think it's the same as Isagi (yes, I know that technically Isagi's color is green, I'm gonna ignore that, don't know how else to explain) both of them seem shy, maybe anxious people, but it becomes obvious that neither of them really is. They are both looking for something that can "change their reality", so I think Isagi's role makes sense (maybe.)
Bachira is yellow as Kida is yellow, both of them are easy going people, can be funny, can be very serious, they both hide their pasts pretty well (although their pasts are very different from one another). I think it fits.
About Nagi and Anri. We know that Anri considers herself as a parasite, and I think this can (faintly) be true with Nagi too. Now,I don't want to belittle the Nagi/Reo ship as a codependent, parasitic relationship (because it's not, not too much) but Nagi did attach himself to Reo only to then move to other people he considered stronger/better mates than Reo. Of course, Nagi and Anri are fundamentally difffrent in their personality, but yeah.
also, I'm not sure I explained well this idea, I don't know how to word rn, so Im sorry, if you have questions you can ask.
basically, they're the main trio
BUT
if Nagi is Anri, then Harima can be Reo, but if Harima is Reo idk who could be Seiji (if Nagi isn't Anri he could be Harima and Reo could be Seiji, but also if this is the case, then idk who could be Anri.)
moving on:
Ego as Shinra Kishitani
Anri Teieri as Celty Sturluson
their dinamic is way off, i know, Shinra is madly in love with Celty, while Ego isn't (at all), but since Anri is basically the only important female character in Blue Lock, I think it could be fun if she were Celty.
just realized that the Reo/Nagi-as-Harima and Anri-as-Celty doesn't fit because of the plastic surgery stuff, but ye. I'll resolve it in another moment.
moving on again:
Rin Itoshi as Aoba Kuronoma
again, I'm not sure with this one, but Rin is the only character with a brother who is also an important character, I have to admit, I don't remember much about the Blue Squares, but I know that Aoba's brother was an important character, so I say that Rin is Aoba.
(I'm only at ep 3 of drrrr (I'm rewatching) so I don't know how Aoba and his brother's dynamic is, but I am sure that it is different than the Itoshi brothers (oh well)).
then:
Barou Shoei as Shizuo Heiwajima
[???] as Izaya Orihara
Hear me out:
Barou gives me a lot of Shizuo vibes: they're strong, their temper is similar, but the problem is that Barou's source of anger is Isagi (mostly)
Of course, if Isagi is Mikado, he cannot be also Izaya (I don't want him to be, he's very different from Izaya (but then again, right now I cannot think about a bllk character who is similar to him, sadly)) so this one is a very unsteady idea.
it might get deleted, as I am having troubles in identifying who could be Izaya
(this might be because I don't remember much about both bllk and drrr (rip))
Another idea that just went to my head:
Michael Kaiser as [maybe] Aoba Kuronoma
This is based on the fact that I hate Kaiser as much as I hate Aoba, so ik that it maybe doesn't make sense.
I'll leave it here anyway.
that's it for now! I'm gonna go continue watching Durarara!! and I'll see if I get new ideas lol
If any of you have something to ask (if you think something is off or if you have more ideas than me about these of other character) you can say it! I'm open to any idea lol

HII can i req 38- durarara + 40- mafia please? thanks a lot!!!!
Of course you can, my lovely anon! Thank you so much for the request and I hope you'll enjoy the headcanons, as late as they come to you!
Okay, but I actually found this AU really hard to do, to be honest. Durarara!!! already has gangs and rivalries and such along those lines…it's really not too far a jump or a stretch to put the mafia into its existing universe and while I did my best to set it in a proper alternate universe, this is the shortest of the AU's I've written so far and kind of lazy.
So anyway, in this universe, I'm actually going to set it in an alternate Japan, where Japan's kind of been sectioned off into little regions. Each region is ruled by a Mafia family, with some Families having far greater power and influence than others. The smaller Families and their regions are often overpowered and taken over by the larger Mafioso Families.
One of the biggest Families is the Orihara Famiglia, headed by Izaya Orihara. This family is known for being ruthless and cut-throat. They tend to target the weaker families and Izaya really pushes to expand their territory, all for his own amusement. Izaya's also a very charismatic man and he's uncanny in knowing who best to target, to talk into his family - who will be useful, who will be amusing to him, and so forth. His honeyed words to them are rarely truthful though and while he has many extremely loyal to him, his Family members do tend to die a lot, through fighting or through suicide.
Saki Mikajima is his right hand woman, someone he talked into joining his family, though she was betrothed to one of the top echelon of the Dollars Famiglia and was originally a part of that family. While her loyalty seems unshakeable, there are hints, here and there, and some rumours that she might be sorely regretting her decision to switch Families.
Other notable members of the Orihara Famiglia are Akane Awakusu, Densuke Sozoro, Douma Kiyojima, Earthworm, Himari, Haruto, Iroha Mayzumi, Shinichi Tsukumoya, Nozomi Kotonami, Nec, Nakura, Manami Mamiya, Hiroto Shijima, and Mikage Sharaku.
The other really large and influential Family is the aforementioned Dollars Famiglia. Nobody is quite sure of the exact identity of the Head of the Family, they are somewhat familiar with that Family's Guardians, the top echelon who lead the day to day operations of the Family. These include Anri Sonohara, Celty Sturluson, Masaomi Kida, Mikado Ryuugamine, and Kyouhei Kadota.
The last of these, Kadota…or as he's more affectionately known, Dotachin, was actually head of his own small Family, though they willingly allied themselves to the Dollars and got integrated into the main family. Dotachin is given a lot of leniency though and his family members, Erika Karisawa, Walker Yumasaki, Hashim, Kaztano, and Saburo Togusa, still only answer to Kadota himself.
Other notable members include Haruna Niekawa, Yahiro Mizuchi, Ryo Takiguchi, Rio Kamichika, Shiri, Shimada, Asanuma, Morita, and Kanazawa.
Kisuke Adabashi used to be a Dollars family member, however, he defected to the rogue Hollywood gang and there is a price on his head currently.
The Dollars Family has absorbed several other small families other than Dotachin's, either through force or because the Families willingly allied themselves to the stronger, larger power. This includes the former Blue Family, notably comprising of Aoba Kuronuma, Kururi Orihara, and Ran Izumii, and the former Scarves Family, comprising of Higa, Horada, and Koji Yatabe.
While not quite officially under the Dollars, it's also well known that the Toramaru Family, led by Chikage Rokujou and his right hand woman Non, is friendly with the Dollar Famiglia, much like it's known that, though not officially affiliated with the Orihara Family, the Rakuei Family, led by Eiichiro and Eiijiro Sharuku, is friendly with the Orihara Family.
There are a few small families that aren't affiliated with either of the large families. The oldest and most well known of them is the well-respected Awakusu-kai Family. They operate in such a way as to avoid conflicts with the two large families whenever possible and in return, the members of the two large Families tend to give them space and respect and there has never been an attempt made to overtake or integrate them into either family. Notable members of this family include Haruya Shiki, Kine, Takaaki Kazamoto, Shu Aozaki, Mizuki Akabayashi, and Mikiya Awakusu.
Another really well known small family is one that several attacks have been made against, particularly from the Orihara Family. However, despite being small, Tom's Famiglia, headed by Tom Tanaka, with Shizuo Heiwajima as his right hand man and Vorona as his left hand woman, is not at all easy to topple. They are more than a powerhouse in their own right and give the Orihara Family trouble everytime Izaya gets it in his head that he would like to destroy Tom's Famiglia due to a grudge that exists between Shizuo and Izaya. Other notable members of Tom's Famiglia include Slon, Mairu Orihara, and Egor.
Another small family isn't really a family at all but an organization, and they are one that everyone makes sure to keep good alliances with. The Nebula Organization is reknowned for its scientific discoveries, inventions, and medical personnel that are not beholden to any one specific alliance or Family. It is currently headed by Shingen and Emilia Kishitani, with notable members including Namie Yagiri, Shinra Kishitani, Seiji Yagiri, and Mika Harima.
That Hollywood upstart gang mentioned? They're brutal, almost psychotically so and they seem to enjoy killing. Assassinations are their game and they're often hired as mercenaries or hitmen. Members are never seen by the people hiring them, only by hired faces, but include Kasane Kujiragi, Kasuka Heiwajima, and Ruri Hijiribe.
Of course, that's not to say that there don't exist people outside of the Families. Both Denis and Simon Brezhnev have walked away from their past Family ties to open and operate a successful series of restaurants. They are true neutral parties and their restaurants are always respected as neutral grounds.

Mikado is a terrible protagonist in Durarara. He is boring and kinda useless, and causes problems for no reason. Anyone could've started the Dollars. Aoba could easily influence the Dollars from the inside. The writers should've just kept him as a lovable, innocent side character, with him being dragged into the plot by his best friends, who are far more interesting!
We have Masaomi, who is this random country kid who somehow became the leader of a huge street gang before he entered highschool! And not bullshit leading it, like Mikado and the Dollars, but actually actively leading and fighting with a street gang. He knows Izaya personally which is quite something for a kid. Also, he got shafted in the show, he literally got thrown off a season having a "vacation" in the country with this girlfriend we never really got to meet or get invested in.
Then we have Anri Sonohara. Anri should have been the protagonist, taken Mikado's role. Anri is fascinating. She has an insanely tragic backstory, an abusive father who tries to kill her, then her mom hills her dad and commits suicide in front of her! She then becomes a host to a demon sword and then makes friends with a high up Yakuza hitman. Her best friend is Mika. She is very close friends with Celty. She is also very close with Erika and Kudota's crew. She knows Akane. Then there is that sortoff rival relationship she has with Vorona and that meetup with Rochi. Anri is deeply connected with most of the characters, is observant, badass, has a complicated relationship with herself and self-esteem, and is, all in all, an amazing main character.
She did have a great part in the show, but it would've been much cooler (and braver) to have her be the main character, not Mikado. The Saika twist would've been much more satisfying too, way more startling to hide such a key part of the main character for so long.

Ohhh my god I'm so mad
Spoilers for the ending of durarara + rant
That was so cliche and disappointing. I had felt like there were too many new characters introduced in the second season, and the ending proves that I wasn't wrong. So many things feel unearned and/or unresolved. Some characters didn't change at all, some changed but not as much as they could have, and some changed but the progress they made feels weird.
Varona is probably the best case scenario, she's actually grown from the machine like personality she had in the beginning. I just wish she could have gone further than just having a crush on Shizuo.
Anri is fine ig, she had a lot of scenes that justify her development, but it's so dumb how it all boils down to "yes I like Mikado and that's how I will show my growth as a character".
Mikado and Masaomi are a very weird case. To me it feels like they both changed, but at the same time they didn't change at all? Especially Mikado, who at the beginning of the series seemed meek and clueless, and then we learnt he had created the Dollars and he had moved to Ikebukuro because he was bored of having an ordinary life. So in a way, all the wild shit he does later on is in line with his personality from the very beginning?
I'm so mad about Shinra and Celty, it was infuriating to watch how Shinra couldn't let her go even though he apparently knew exactly what she was thinking, AND that it's played like it's a good thing. Her feelings were completely disregarded. I wish he could have had an arc where he discovers that life can be meaningful without Celty because it was shown that he'd been obsessed with her for a looong time. Anyway, absolutely nothing changed. They're the same they were by the end of season 1.
And the matter with Celty bleeds into other characters as well. For some reason she wasn't allowed to keep her head? The only way she could be with Shinra was by not having her head?? And they gave her head to Shinra's dad's company in order to experiment on it??? And Sheiji is still as obsessed with it as ever, and Mika is still his replacement for it. "I view you as family" BS you haven't changed at all since the first episode of the first season.
And his sister Namie doesn't change at all either, she's still obsessed with him and that doesn't get resolved in the slightest.
Shizuo felt like he should have had a character arc, but it... didn't happen? Was it too subtle for me to notice? Either way, disappointing to see. In season 2 we were given 3 new female characters who needed to learn that they're not monsters (even though Anri was already having the exact same arc since season 1), meanwhile Shizuo was left as an afterthought, despite the fact that he's been called a monster this whole time. I guess it shows how strong willed and confident in himself he is, but it doesn't feel completed?
And speaking of monsters; Izaya. Well... he also didn't change at all. We saw the flashbacks and that one scene with Shinra talking about him to the orange haired girl with the glasses about how he's scared of being vunerable or whatever it was, but he himself did not change at all. I guess he had decided to stop running from Shizuo and seemed to have accepted his death? But the last scene he's in, he's running away again?? And he's still calling Shizuo a monster? What was the point?
Haruna could have been given a small arc about overcoming her feelings for that piece of shit teacher, but nah... It's not like it would have been cool to see her start to hate him for grooming her (because that's what it was) and for taking revenge on him. The last scene with the two of them could have been exactly the same ffs.
And there's still so many more characters that were introduced but were made to feel like plot devices, Aoba, Rocchi and Kasane, being the most important that come to mind. Masaomi's gf, whose name I can't remember, also fits into this category. She existed in the first season so that Masaomi would feel bad and to highlight how much of a POS Izaya is, and since then she's literally done nothing.
Honestly. It feels like there were a lot of interesting characters and relationship dynamics throughout the whole series, and suddenly at the end the show is saying "I'm too tired to properly resolve all of these and also sometimes being totally obsessed with someone is okay actually".
Dishonourable mention: Izaya's sisters did nothing for the plot, did not give us a new perspective into his character, and were bad fanservice (even though there was already plenty of fanservice without them), not only because of the boobs, but for the incest bait too.

This is a twisted story. A twisted love story. With the neigh of an urban legend, with the tears of a boy, with the return of the ordinary, with the disappearance of the mastermind, and with the hints of a new story beginning, the story of twisted love now closes its curtains. For their love is no longer twisted.

masaomi's story and how he actually ends up in all the situations he does in the series always gets me. like he's never been a thrillseeker the way mikado and aoba are. he never consciously decides to start a gang because he wants to cause trouble or anything - the yellow scarves backstory is kind of inconsistent as far as i remember, but the origin as of eighteen histories is that masaomi accidentally gathers a bunch of kids around him after saving them from bullies. which fits with his arc overall: masaomi just keeps trying to help people and it just keeps coming back to bite him.
you save some kids getting bullied and you get manipulated and pulled into a gang war by adults looking for some entertainment; you let yourself go back to the gang you left to get revenge for your friend and it turns out that your friends are the people you've been trying to hurt all along.
masaomi cares so much about other people and it goes wrong for him every single time. partly because he believes what he wants to believe, and he keeps holding onto that belief in spite of everything.
like in theory, masaomi could probably avoid a lot of the things that happen to him if he was more selfish. but he's not the kind of person who can just walk away and let someone get hurt. which isn't to imply that masaomi is some kind of innocent guy who always acts out of the kindness of his heart and doesn't know what he's actually doing - he does literally try to kill horada and he does want to settle the score with the blue squares outside of the mikado situation. he's incredibly capable. but i think he probably has one of the strongest senses of justice out of anyone in the cast ("righteous vassal")
If he abandoned these people now, he would never be proud enough to present himself to Mikado, Anri, or even Saki again. He couldn’t promise himself that he’d show his face to them again someday, but if anything, it was a kind of personal moral compass within him that forced his hand. - chapter 4, volume 8
the only reason mikado doesn't die fighting adabashi is because masaomi doesn't hate the blue squares or aoba enough to just turn away and let them fend for themselves. but this need to save people is also, unintentionally, one of the things that leads to all of the shit that happens to masaomi & the other kids throughout the series.
