Remember this one? It's only been sitting for a month or so 😂 But all of a sudden today... Yep. So here ya go!

5) side hugs

Murray keeps a mental list of who will accept hugs and when. A strong supporter of platonic intimacy, she brings it up as soon as she can get a feel for the other person. If they're told to 'Fuck Off' and Lieutenant Mai had, they fuck off. No forced hugs, here.

Romeo, for instance, is far more willing to hug when he's tipsy (but do not try if he's drunk) or after a rough mission. Klaus gives excellent bear hugs, and Lever will occasionally allow a pat on the shoulder, but don't touch him otherwise. Lala allows Murray to get away with more than anyone else, but still is only usually a fan of touch for comfort.

Jay, she's found, is a tactile kind of guy: fist-bumps, shoulder pats, playful shoves, hugs, and he even gave Romeo a noogie that one time… so it didn't take her too long to get him to be a hugger, after he came out of his shell more.

Murray's go-to is still Kaidan, though. Two years of knowing the guy has taken him from silent and sheltered, an introverted loner, to… well he's still a quiet introvert that needs to loosen up, but the point is he's better, and he's totally down for basically anything she throws at him.

It's why, when Murray knocks and Kaidan clears them to enter, they walk right up to his side and embrace him before he can even rise from his desk. He pulls them in tight as she sniffles into his hair, wipes a tear from her eye, and stands back up straight. No questions, no discussion required at this point, just a hug from a friend before they're heading back out – Kaidan calling after them and asking to talk about it when she's ready. She will, eventually, when they're back in the lounge and she's playing with his hair to avoid meeting his eye, or her feet are resting on his lap while a movie plays, unwatched in the background. Until then, they know they can count on Kaidan for a hug when needed. And who knows? Maybe Jay will start taking him up on it, too.

Watching the Behind the Sofa features for the season 2 Hartnell episodes (surprisingly they’re on YouTube but who knows when that could get taken down) is a weird experience because a lot of the time it’s really enjoyable seeing the various reactions and they’re often very complimentary towards things that you don’t see people appreciate enough, which makes me quite happy, and then other times out of nowhere you’ll get odd comments of a few of the actresses perceiving certain lines as sexist or something. Specifically in The Time Meddler, which was otherwise a crowd favorite among them, Steven complimenting Vicki on being clever was apparently patronizing, and they acted as if the Doctor telling Vicki to keep her nose away when he was messing with the Monk’s TARDIS was him brushing off her questions as if she needs to stay in her place or something, when in context he’s dealing with precarious electrical wires and was telling her not to get her face so close because it could give her a shock — he says as much, but they talk over it. I enjoy very much that they were often appreciating things that people look over and really getting into a lot of it, but every now and again something like that would take me out of it. Don’t like when people attribute their own assumptions or biases as the meaning of something that was totally innocent.

#on that note i love peter purves to the moon and back for not having done that #he in particular was great fun to watch in these because his love for bill and the whole show is so deep and so sincere #i would marathon the entire hartnell era with that man #classic who #first doctor #vicki pallister #steven taylor #behind the sofa #never like the assumption that something was meant in bad faith that really wasn’t #it’s stuff like that that often keeps people from watching this era #because they just assume it’s there and when they do try to watch it they find it because they looked for it on purpose #this is the kind of thinking that gives us inaccurate perceptions of characters like twice upon a time #they also brought up cooking quite a bit and i’m like…? i don’t think any companion has ever cooked during their travels #much less with that as some kind of expectation of them as The Woman #makes me think of twice upon a time where they have the doctor indicate that polly was expected to keep the tardis clean #as if polly wouldn’t smack anyone who suggested that that should be her role. as if THE DOCTOR wouldn’t smack anyone saying that. please.#begging people to stop trying to make the classic series something it’s not #rant

It’s not even my birthday yet and I already got a free cookie from crumbl and a free shake from smash burger. Shout to past Emma for signing up for rewards and getting free birthday things 😊

I will be good and wait for tomorrow for the rest of my presents. Although I give my mom a list and told my dad very specifically what to get so probably not a lot of surprising but still fun and exciting. My last night of being in twenties!

Remus glanced over to them, sitting next to him, staring deeply into him. Remus smiled, flicking his eyes back to the burning cigarette in his hand.

"You're mind is shit full with melodrama", Remus commented with a small laugh.

Sirius took their love's hands on their own, "I speak with my heart. And there is no absence of affection that haunts the bloody hallways of such organ. We must promise to never part. Living without the sharp sweetness of you fills me with agony. Ours is eternal. Death is nothing with your hand clutched in mine; I fear nothing but the loss of your boundless presence haunting me sweetly."

Remus lifted up Sirius' hand, kissing their knuckle, "...ace."
