One Piece Shipping War

Welcome to this all out shipping war! Do you think your ship is the best? Let's put it to a vote!

First, some rules:

All characters in the ship must be from One Piece

No OC's, self insert, or crossover ships

Non-canon characters are allowed (meaning from anime fillers, movies, games, etc.)

All characters involved have to be humanoid. No concepts, objects, or full animals (fishmen/merfolk, minks, and Chopper are allowed)

The 5 most popular ships (on AO3) will not compete!* This means, no Zoro/Sanji, Law/Luffy, Marco/Ace, Zoro/Luffy, and Kid/Law.

Poly ships are welcome! (also if 2 of the 3+ are one of the big 5)

Only submit romantic and/or sexual ships. This is not about friendships, general fun dynamics, or actual boats.

Submit a ship only once! (if I suspect voter fraud, that ship might be banned from the competition)

You can submit multiple ships, but use a new form for each ship.

Do not hate on other ships, just support your own.

Keep the pictures and propaganda SFW (as I want to keep the tournament SFW)

You are allowed to submit fanart for this tournament, as long as it's either your own or you've got permission from the artist. (Artist will be credited when their art is used, of course)

If you use manga spoilers in the propaganda, please announce them with a big 'SPOILERS AHEAD' before continueing.

*These ships are excluded to make the outcome a little more surprising, and give smaller ships a chance.

Ships with pictures included have a higher chance of making it into the tournament (as I don't have to look for pics myself).

oh and also, you're right, bk/dk has no romantic subtext - it has romantic text. no subtlety needed! :) that is, if you have read the manga - my favourite example is this:

anyways, if i were you, I'd reread mha and really really understand the text you're reading. you might end up seeing something you missed at first!

Aiyyo someone got triggered! Hehehe. Ah it was inevitable that the moment I talked about MHA and rejected shippy head canons from the show, some delusional hardcore shipper would get all up in arms. Sigh.

So just some random panels and chapter covers from the manga prove Bakugou or Deku is gay? Lol. I have seen fans like you in Naruto fandom as well. But you are right, I am not as invested in MHA, because it just doesn't have the versatility and genius of Naruto and Shippuden, it is actually quite a straightforward story and I don't need to burn a lot of my braincells to 'get it'. Lol. I am not saying it's bad, but as compared to its contemporary mangas, it just isn't at par for my tastes. It's good for entertainment but it doesn't affect me like other mangas that it takes inspiration from. Some silly shipper telling me I can't read, I would tell you my credentials but nah, too much work for disproving silly ass headcanons.

Fans make comparisons between Naruto and BNHA because Horikoshi is inspired by Kishimoto, definitely some similarities are there, but it misses on the most crucial point. Naruto and Shippuden are love stories. BNHA is simply your typical shounen manga. Naruto and Shippuden use the narrative tool of subversion to tell a love story in the restrictive genre of shounen. It has multiple layers and you need presence of mind to see them. Naruto is gay and you see comphet in his character, his interest in Sakura looks superficial from the beginning and then in kage arc, it is concluded as a mere cover to run from confronting his dilemma, and closetedness. His character is consistently shown as having an internal fight, a dilemma. Sasuke is just on your face, he is clearly shown as having no interest in women, but with Naruto he is especially intimate on his own accord. Ya know, using random panels ain't gonna help, you need to establish it in the narrative. Headcanons are all nice to entertain when that's all you watch media for, shipping. But please to be showing more maturity and media comprehension when sending me an ask, I am not very sympathetic to gaslighters whose heads are filled with shippy shit and cheap self gratification. When I talk Naruto, I make comparisons with other clearly gay media, and point out the common tropes, it's a result of expansive research. Not just random panels that prove nothing. Little one, you need more than that to prove your theories. I have watched a wide range of media, including gay media, your ask is just representative of your ignorance and lack of knowledge about how storytelling and character building works. Heh. Or do you think BNHA has its own concept of homosexuality, its own private language that cannot be compared with how other media establishes homosexuality in a given universe? Yeah, solipsistic ideas like that cannot be taken seriously.

Conformity is one of the pillars Japanese society is built upon, so it's not surprising that Japanese media talks upon how anything that doesn't conform to the norms is rejected. Their media is representative of their society. Mha also touches upon that and there's no surprises there, but again, you need more than that to prove it in the course of plot building and narrative. Some random out of context panel about some character saying something about conformity proves your point? You need to SHOW it and not just tell. But where other mangas, great mangas, popular and critically well acclaimed mangas have explored this idea in detail, MHA is just touch and go. It doesn't entertain a balanced proper discourse on it. It is truly shounen in that sense. Again, I am not saying it is bad, it is just more age appropriate. Which is totally fine. Do you know how heteronormativity is established in the narrative? Like this. Show me where this happens in MHA. Lol. Sweetheart, if the writer had made any attempt to write this world as heteronormative, where gay characters face challenges, I would have seen it. But mha is just not that deep. Sorry to burst your bubble. But that's just a fact.

Seriously, you are going to give me the example of Toga? I haven't gone through the recent chapters yet. I have only watched the anime. But it is clear that, that girl is medically insane. Her idea of liking someone is to kill that person and drink their blood, for her own pleasure. She ain't a homosexual, more like hemosexual. Hahaha. Again, you gotta show me the trajectory of her character, start with the base and show me how it escalates, how does she learn better about herself, her own feelings, the world from her perspective. No character is isolated, any writer who is talented enough to write multimillion franchise knows that. Don't project your assumptions on the story and the characters, work with what you have and draw the meaning from what's given, not the other way round.

There is no doubt Izuku and Bakugou have a strong relationship, even if it is mostly rivalry. But one can see that Bakugou cares about Deku and vice versa. Before telling me how to read, perhaps you should have done it yourself. Lol, I see this type of behaviour a lot from typical silly shippy shippers. "What, did you just say my ship makes no sense? 🤬"

Do you even know what subtext or text is? Hahah. This is text and subtext. So just because Bakugou and Deku talk about their rivalry in their vulnerable moments, that the audience knows as congruent since we have already seen they have a hot and cold relationship but that they are friends nonetheless, that proves they love each other romantically? You obviously don't know how romance tropes work. The dynamic between two men who respect and admire each other is always shown with a lot of empathy in Japanese media. It is one of the founding pillars of shounen, a genre meant for teenaged boys. They are certainly closer to each other than they are with women they are interested in, but a lot of fans such as yourself misinterpret it as romantic, because headcanon goggles. No, you gotta have more than that. Where Naruto and Shippuden have it in truckloads, none of that in BNHA. Deku is heterosexual af. If he is so interested in Bakugou, how come he reacts the way he reacts to Uraraka? Where is his conflict? Where is his dilemma? His affection and romantic interest in Uraraka is genuine and sincere, not a cover to hide his more private feelings. Unlike in Naruto's case. Kishi uses clever narrative tricks and tools to tell his love story in shounen and he does it skillfully. His motives and intentions are clear as water. He uses inventive smokescreens and red herrings to escape from being too controversial and colour inside the borders of shounen, nothing like that in BNHA. To begin with, Horikoshi doesn't even delve into the sexualities of his characters, because his story is not about that. There's no context, no set up, nothing. His worldbuilding is simply conventional, by which I mean heteronormative, there's no talk about sexual orientation of characters. You see the usual shounen perviness by Mineta and Kaminari and typical straight girls going kawaai over good looking boys like Todoroki, what impression does that give? If Horikoshi wanted to establish his characters being gay, he would have set up the context mindfully and carefully, like Kishi did. Gay relationships and characters can't be shown so explicitly in shounen as that would jeopardize its distribution in the west. Reason? Censorship. That's why Kishi had to be so careful, his target audience might not get it, but the adults do. Well, unbiased adults do, at the very least. So the boys in bnha are gay just because? Because you want them to be? Storytelling and character building doesn't work like that.

Seriously everything you think works as 'analysis' isn't even valid. I honestly didn't even want to respond to this ask, given it's so surface level and ridiculously simple minded. Perhaps you are a tween or teen who thinks every time two boys or girls smile at each other or rescue each other, they are gay and in love. Lol, watch gay media. Like actually watch it and see where your arguments stand in the scheme of things. I will tell you, nowhere. Juvenile kiddy stuff. I won't entertain anymore asks like these, they are a waste of my time.

I think it says a lot about my job that I was able to concentrate on it today and completely forget we GOT TRAILER

It was a mistake to check tumblr first thing in the morning, before I even got out of bed, but in my defense, I didn't expect it would drop at such a day and time! But anyway I did jump off of bed, turned on my laptop and recorded my face as I watched it. I needed to have that memorized XD

So, spoilers about the trailer below, and my own predictions about what each scene could be for! Reminder that I'm anime only, but have read the chapter that the first episode (probably) is based on, so for the most part I know what's going on, but for the rest I'm very much NOT aware :D Don't spoil me please :D

I remember that line from the end of the bullet-in-butt date chapter, and I gotta admit I don't really like it... but the way Eguchi delivers it makes me think he's not like "Women amirite" but more like "All my years of training did not prepare me for how people are like in their day to day lives because spy training has skewed my perception of day to day 'normal'" and that's perfectly valid.

But also what the fuck is happening here. What is that cat. Why is Yor about to Thorn-Princess it. What.

So Anya goes on a studying rampage, fails, and ends up crying on her penguin?

This only made me sad, what the fuck. It looks like Loid and Yor are looking at her failing grades, and Anya is disappointed in herself. I will don my clown wig again and say "If Loid doesn't go and reassure her so help me GOD"

I... don't like the ending theme song. But that's mostly a matter of taste, I guess.

Gotta admit, from a few tidbits here and there it looks like Twilight is finally gaining some more understanding of himself and his situation... but the way he says that just makes me think that realization makes him more concerned than anything else.

So I can say with conviction this did fix something in me. Though I guess the first episode will be the bullet-in-butt date, so it will take me another week to go into new territory. But! Bullet-in-butt date in 12 days! And new cool stuff to look for later on! I'm so happy!

(Again, I don't want spoilers for any of these. Just let me have my fun speculating :D)

I love that IRs are so salty about that IH pic. Sweethearts, the series is over. It’s canon that Ichigo and Orihime are married and living happily ever after with their son, and that Rukia is loving her best life with her hot, tatted up husband and their daughter. That ending isn’t changing just because you couldn’t read.

Yeah, and it's not even just the fanart that the animator created that's making them mad, it's Bleach being back in general with all the hype surrounding the anime, after they declared Bleach was "dead" and said that no one cared about it anymore because IR wasn't canon.

And now that the people who work on the anime know which pairings are endgame, I think it gives the animators more freedom to talk about or show support for the canon pairings without having to remain neutral or be vague just to keep up some element of surprise. So, they can be more blatant about Ichigo/Orihime and Rukia/Renji being romantic couples and speak about them more factually as so, because they are, factually, couples in the end. And that really seems to bug IR shippers lmao because I think they like to think that IR is the "true canon" that everyone ships, and that IH/RR should be treated as total flukes that shouldn't even be acknowledged, unless it's to acknowledge them as something that never should have happened.

Plus, let's be real, the final arc was brutal for them. IchiRuki was so starved for content, practically the entire time, while Kubo spoiled IchiHime and RenRuki with goods throughout, and now that it's being animated, IR shippers have to relive that nightmare all over again: watching us celebrate as new episodes come out and more IH/RR moments are animated, knowing full well where it's all leading to--their marriages and children in the end.

I mean, as much as they like to say "IH shippers only had chapter 686, while IR shippers had the entire manga!" (as they ignore the fact that IR's screentime greatly plateaued after the first two arcs) it's gotta be difficult to argue that they had the entire manga while we had nothing, when they know just how few moments they have to look forward to being animated compared to us. All they have is the hospital scene, and the peach ass scene. Both of which took place fairly early on in the final arc. After that, it's crickets. Unless Kubo adds some more interactions in, which he very well might, since he said he's going to be adding in more things that didn't make it into the manga. But even then, we all know that any new moments between Ichigo and Rukia are going to be the same old platonic nakama bond moments as always.

While on the other hand, any new IH/RR moments that Kubo adds in will be created with the full knowledge that they're both going to be revealed as romantic pairings in the end.

Sony’s Screen Gems has moved up the domestic release for its rom-com Love Again, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sam Heughan and Celine Dion as herself, from May 12th to May 5th.

The film evacuates a highly crowded weekend that will see the opening of the Penélope Cruz drama L’immensità, IFC Films’ buzzy Berlin title BlackBerry, Robert Rodriguez’s Ben Affleck starrer Hypnotic, Focus Features’ Book Club: The Next Chapter, Viva Pictures’ animated pic Rally Road Racers, Sony’s manga adaptation Knights of the Zodiac, Sony Pictures Classics’ Yogi Berra doc It Ain’t Over and IFC Films’ Trace Lysette-led drama Monica.

Competitors on its new weekend include Lionsgate’s action-thriller One Ranger with Thomas Jane and John Malkovich, Disney/Marvel’s franchise ender Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Kino Lorber’s drama Chile ’76.

Written and directed by Jim Strouse — the filmmaker behind titles including The Incredible Jessica James, People Places Things, The Winning Season and Grace Is Gone — Love Again asks the question, what if a random text message led to the love of your life? Pic follows Mira Ray (Jonas), who while dealing with the loss of her fiancé, sends a series of romantic texts to his old cell phone number…not realizing the number was reassigned to Rob Burns’ (Heughan) new work phone. A journalist, Rob is captivated by the honesty in the beautifully confessional texts. When he’s assigned to write a profile of megastar Celine Dion, he enlists her help in figuring out how to meet Mira in person… and win her heart.

The film, featuring multiple new songs from Dion, is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Esther Hornstein. Exec producers are Doug Belgrad, Sophie Cassidy, Louise Killin, Jonathan Fuhrman and Dion.

Screen Gems will on Friday release its supernatural horror The Pope’s Exorcist, starring Russell Crowe. In no specific order. Did i take this opportunity to post pics of these characters? Yes.

Revy (Black Lagoon)

A dual wielding gunslinger from Roanapur. She is badass and deeply unhinged. A seriously traumatized woman with solid character flaws and a weirdly pseudo romantic relationship with the guy she kidnapped for a ransom and is now desperately trying to protect without realizing that she can't save his innocence, because he was never innocent and pure.

Fredrica Sawyer (Black Lagoon)

A cleaner from Roanapur, uses a chainsaw as her primary weapon, cannot talk due to a severe injury to her larynx and uses a voice synthesizer. An adorable and creepy goth girl who may or may not have in universe ties to the Texas Chainsaw massacre. Which yes, implies that black lagoon is set in the same universe as the TCM movies.

Dazai Osamu (BSD)

Love the depiction of depression and mental health problems with the guy. Love how he is constantly present everywhere and is seen through everyone else's perspective and yet we know so little about him. He is a dork and a brat and so annoying. He is usually aloof and distant but deep down has the capacity to be tender and kind that is only seen in the rare moments of vulnerability. But he is so hopeful and yet completely convinced he deserves nothing.

Chuuya Nakahara (BSD)

He's such a tragic character like his life is one compromise after another as he gets pushed further and further into a bad situation but he will not let that stop him from making the best out of his situation. His compassion and empathy for even those who hurt him is so powerful but his brutality and intelligence is another aspect that makes him stand out against the other characters of his kind. And then you have his incredible loyalty where he will cross all boundaries to protect those he considers his people. Gorgeous characterization honestly.

Yato (Noragami)

Another extremely tragic character and one who is trying so hard to change his fate despite everything. My guy does NOT catch a single break through the centuries he has been alive and he is still so hopeful. Not to mention letting Bishamon despise him for so long just to protect Kazuma, a guy he barely knew at the time. UGH. And his whole thing for Hiyori and his affection for Yukine. Kill me!

Yukine (Noragami)

This was the first time I cried honestly. His backstory had me curled up in my bed unable to eat for an entire day. And his growth from an annoying unlikeable brat to one of the most lovable characters is crazy. Also no, I will never not cry over Yukine calling Yato 'dad'.

Jeremy Pascal (Tales from the Gas Station)

I didnt realize how much I liked him till I thought he died. In that regard I'm like Jack I guess, neither of us realised how much we cared for this adorkable himbo ex cultist. The fact that he is genuinely heartbroken that his suicide cult abandoned him and committed without him is so...oddly endearing and just the energy he adds is charming. He's also such a great friend to Jack, man better start appreciating him more.

Sorey (Tales of Zestiria)

This is my son. And my sun. He is the most precious, sweetest boy to me. Aside from being ridiculously gay about Mikleo, the guy is what you'd think is a typical hero figure in such a setting. Pure, celibate, sweet and even tempered etc. But he is snarky as hell, constantly teases others, is NOT oblivious contrary to popular opinion. He is also irritable. I also love that he is an archaeology nerd.

Irma Lair (W.I.T.C.H)

I dont remember too much about her but I always really liked her. Enough that she is still amongst my absolute favorites. It probably helps that she was made wlw in the tv series and has some shippy moments with Cornelia in particular.

Balalaika (Black lagoon)

Listen, she is an ex military woman, who went MIA with her entire squad of loyal soldiers and now runs the fucking mafia in Roanapur. Woman is gorgeous and has acid burn scars all down her face and body. And she is terrifying. She will break necks with a smile and values loyalty and efficiency above all else. But she is such a deeply damaged woman who deserved better. But see, the people in Roanapur are there cause this is their last stand before they end up dead.

Then Mikami sent flowers/cooks a romantic dinner for Light The idea of Light sending the flower to other people at his office is very funny jfjd

I like the idea of Light already getting used to being idolized by his peers so when ppl rly got so obsessed with him (Misa or Mkami) he got annoyed

Mikami keeps calling him "god" and keeps pampering him but sometimes it's just get annoying I think Light only likes it when Mikami can do his "kira's job" perfectly But sometimes it's getting on his nerves wwww

Random gag story [beware] Light try to bribe Ryuk with apples, so Mikami won't find him (bc he's not in the mood for Mikami's random worship talks about him)

Ryuk : yea he's boring and he likes to ignore me, for once I'm on ur side Light (he said this bc of apples)

The next day Mikami bribes Ryuk more with a whole box of apples, Now ryuk likes Mikami more and betrayed Light loml

It just shows how Mikami is so detached from ppl wwww Bc in my hc, i know sooner or later Mikami will get very jealous and regret introducing Takada to light (if I'm following BL route lol), And light won't like it if he bc too emotional (bc its so unexpected of Mikami)

Light only told Mikami about his meeting with Sachiko for the last time before they elope (www) They're not interested in talking about their family he thinks Mikami won't care about them and just move on

But Mikami will respond by randomly talking about her dead mom just trying to sympathize with Light (he's trying) but it makes everything more awkward for Light (like.. okay?) They never talk about their family again for years lol

I was just thinking how Naoko Takeuchi really cannot really blamed for the failure of not given romantic relationships to the other girls in Usagi's inner circle. That lies entirely on the fault of the writers for the 90s anime. The author could only do so much in a 60 act manga. The anime on the other hand? Could've fleshed out their relationships OUTSIDE Usagi and duties as Sailor Guardians. It was never going happen though because of pandering to a certain male demographic that does not....

their favorite girl/Sailor Guardian (or so-called "wifu") that's not Usagi/Sailor Moon in a relationship lest they be seen as "tainted" or "damaged goods" or "impure" or no longer just for themselves. I mean, look at Ami Mizuno. Ryo Urawa disappears after the first season despite the obvious rapport they had with one another. An anime only character with potential character development for Ami and also a potential partner/boyfriend completely memory holed. But that's the 90s anime for you.

Sure she could have bought them back but who is to say they don't come back in the future once Mamo figures out his powers. Which him and Usagi figure out to bring them back?

Then you got people who don't like the pairings and feel like it's lazy on her to pair a senshi with a shittenou.

Then you got people who pair the senshi with the senshi.

So Naoko did the drawing and kept trucking and just focused on Usa/Mamo, Har/Mic, Chibiusa and her potential love story and the rest of the story.

I do like the potential with Asanuma and Mako tho. Also the fact her losing her parents at a young age

Even tho Mina got a whole fucking manga talking her love life and how she supposed to be cursed. Got a whole Kunzite look alike and fucking Ace!

Rei got a whole side story explaining why she's like " I don't trust men" which after you read it you understand perfectly why and you don't' fucking blame her. She had two great examples that show her in her eyes that men shouldn't be trusted. That Aries energy coming through!! ( Her dad and Kaidou is full of shit. Her grandad is the only positive older male figure she got in her life.)

Ami going to be Ami and the fact she saw what happen with her parents devoice. Also Ami first love.

( Cough none of this I mentioned is in the 90's anime but Ami first love Cough)

PGSM experimented with the pairings. ( Ami and Nephrite Chef Kiss That Mina and Zoi team up trying to stop Usa and Mamo from seeing each other. Double Chef Kiss )

Also with PGSM the fact Mako and Motoki become freaking engaged!.

Sere Myu give hints of the pairings.

Crystal finally confirmed the pairings in the past which everyone almost had a damn cow over it. Yes It could have been done better. I'm not going to even lie since they didn't even use some of the canon evidence that was in the manga to at least strengthen Mina and Kunzite if they couldn't do the other three. But it is what it is.

Fanfics handle the pairings better.

But the 90's anime... They never fully developed none of them for them to have a real love life.

Ami- Ryo Urawa was only in two episodes (27&41) and never heard of again. ( Anime Only) The second most developed Anime Only Character besides Yuuichirou but still under developed. Shingo had a crush on her in SuperS before that was his last appearance in the whole series.(144) ( And Ami first love…)

Mina- Had a crush on Alan which we found out in her backstory episode(42) but was never heard of again .Also the fact he was dating Katrina. Then had another crush Asai, in episode 100 who found out that she was Venus when she saved him but was never heard of again. ( Both Anime Only)

I guess you count when she chase after Haruka a whole episode.

When she trying to date Tiger Eye and Hawk Eye in one episode.

When her and Mako was trying to get the attention of a kindergarten teacher Mr.Honjo ( who had a child so single father or married but an damn adult they had a crush on) who was never heard of again. (154)

Of course her acting like a groupie with the Starlights…

Mako- Senpai Senpai! Her Senpai which was mentioned in her first episode( 23) and episode 49. Crane Game Joe who look like her old senpai and was in her first episode but was never heard of again. Shinozaki which was her friend she gave the blood transfusion to in episode 49 which he wasn’t her boyfriend but he was never heard of again. She developed a crush on Ail/Seijuurou episode 55 but that didn’t go anywhere since he wanted Usagi.

Of course Tiger Eye going after her.

Rei- Her dating Mamo in season one for a few episodes’ which most def fizzed out once we found out the truth. Yuuichirou had a major crush on her but that never got fully developed and she never told her feelings. Which his last appearance in the whole series was episode 136 in SuperS. He is the longest one being from season one until season four. Also being the only anime only character with the most development but still under developed.

Usagi,Mina,and Mako all had a crush on Motoki.

The only one that had a fully “developed” love story aka realtionship was Usagi.

The 90’s anime had the girls having guys that could have been developed for them only lasting one or two episodes before never been heard of again.

Then you have them screaming “I want a boyfriend” most of the time and then being groupies to the Starlights in StarS.

So nope you really can't blame Naoko since really give the girls backstory as to why finding a romantic partner maybe difficult for them.

But it still not to say they don't find one ( if they want one).

I'm not anon who asked that bromance > BL, but I kinda get it. From your profile pic it's Choso from JJK, right? SatoSugu is one of my top 10 (non-canon) otps. Those 10 couples are mlm from shounen/seinen. Now, I also read BL manga/ manhwa and danmei, but somehow non canon couples hits different.

Can I ask for BL recs that you think are romantic?

Number one rec right now Cherry Magic. The anime, drama or manga, any are good. Also highly recommend Umibe/Harukaze no Etranger. My tastes are rather... eccentric, so I'm just going to recommend those more palatable things. Ask me not for more. I also have a lot of non-canon ships, but I wouldn't say they hit different. I normally have very specific reasons for shipping things since I'm a romantic (and also a writer) and like to analyze relationships, so as long as canon ones are written well, I'll love them as much as some non-canon ones. As a member of the JJK fandom and a minority in this opinion, I actually do not and have never shipped SatoSugu. I don't really get it, and much prefer them as good friends. I won't explain why because perhaps my opinion is too polarizing and tbh I was trying to never share what I thought about them. Itafushi forever though.

I don't understand why people ship Itadori with Megumi... I didn't see anything going on there. At first I found it strange to see people shipping...But I can sense that there is something going on between Megumi and his sister. Megumi thinks of Tsumiki when he is asked about his type of woman. Gege also shows that Megumi is ferociously trying to protect Tsumiki at all costs. She was in the middle of the sunflower when he thought of her. Sunflowers symbolize love and adoration, which means that a person who has loved with sincerity and purity never forgets and loves truly till the end.

I don't like sibling romantic relationships. That's okay with fiction...because they're not real. But in real life I can't quite agree with that. It is okay if they are not blood related...but still. I can't blame them if they fall in love with their siblings. There are lot of people who have come over this. There are also some who have gone for it. But why Gege so into incest???

now about jjk… it’s not pleasant to admit but gege does put a lot of weird things regarding incest in his manga. i understand what you say about having no problem of incest being portrayed in fiction in the sense of depiction ≠ endorsement, and i agree, but i do have a problem when such things are framed in a good or fetishised way, not everything is solved by saying “it’s just fiction!”. fiction is used to send a message, so you have to pay attention to what the message is telling you, it depends on media literacy. just because it’s fictional, doesn’t mean that it won’t help reproduce propaganda or racism or any other ideology and it doesn’t mean it won’t help people to internalise those ideals, so it’s quite dangerous to me to just excuse anything as simply fictional. the same way portraying a dark theme as incest isn’t the same thing as shipping incest, game of thrones is not the same thing as itas*su fanfic or whatever 🥴 i think this subject requires a lot of nuance, it’s basically this post here.
