She had always thought to herself, time and time again, that she'd like to see Chat Noir get knocked down a peg. She'd always thought it'd be an amusing sight to see his inflated ego deflate a bit, because he could be so arrogant, so over-the-top, that she sometimes thought that he deserved it.
"… I'm sorry. It won't happen again." he repeated softly, visibly deflating, and she was wrong. She was so, so wrong, because this wasn't fun at all, and she never wanted to see him like this again, and he didn't deserve this, and she realized that she liked his stupid ego, because he deserved to think so highly of himself because he was wonderful and—

Daily Fics
(Fics I read throughout the day yesterday and enjoyed)
Maintaining a Professional Distance by buggachat ( @buggachat )
“I mean, how dumb does the mayor think we are? Offering us a permanent hotel room as a ‘gesture of gratitude for all our work for Paris’, like it isn’t clearly just some half-baked political ploy to place him more in the public’s favor after the whole school funding scandal, like we’ll allow ourselves to sleep in a hotel that we were publicly offered, making ourselves sitting ducks for Hawkmo—”
“It’s a pretty big building,” he countered, and at least he seemed amused, because she certainly wasn’t, “Nobody knows which room we were given but us.”
“It doesn’t matter!” she scoffed, “It’s still a security risk that he can narrow our location down at all! Also,” she jutted her arms out towards the bed a second time, “May I remind you? ONE. BED. ONE!”
———
Or, Ladybug and Chat Noir receive a hotel room from the city, which they most certainly will not use. After all, that wouldn't be very professional, would it?
Yes, it's a Ladynoir bed sharing fic.
They can really do it all huh, anyways, another great fic from buggachat. Identity shenanigans galore! Also dangerous levels of clownbug present in this. Post gang of secrets future fic.
At least half of this is Marinette dealing with her denial and avoidance tendencies when it comes to emotional venerability, and Adrien in the background figuring out how to begin to take care of himself emotionally. And of course tons of Ladynoir goodness with a generous side of Adrinette. So if that sounds interesting and you somehow haven’t read this already give it a shot.

metamorphosis by peachcitt ( @peachcitt )
“Wait!” Marinette had called, and he’d immediately frozen in the doorframe, turning back to look at her. She was brimming with confusion, with questions, but the only thing that came out of her mouth was: “what do you want?”
He’d stared at her, and Marinette had itched under his gaze, so knowing and uncanny. “To see you at the Eiffel Tower in fifteen minutes."
and
“The man who gave me the power asked me if I wanted the ability to have my voice heard. And I said yes.”
“But Hawkmoth-”
“It was different,” the professor says, shaking her head. “You know Hawkmoth never asked.”
or
three years after hawkmoth's defeat, marinette is still trying to figure out her version of normal. there's also sleepovers.
(Yay I have time to read fic again!) so I was able to read chapters 5 and 6 today.
Not a clue what wish he could POSSIBLY consider worth all this. Anyways, sick new costume and powers for the butterfly.
Also bonus Ladybug trying to hold it together:

broke: hobie showing miles how to play guitar and getting all up in his space to do so; repositioning his hands and taking way longer than he needs to about it, swinging around to sit behind miles and move him how he wants, humming into his ear
woke: hobie showing miles how to play guitar and doing none of the above, sitting in front of or next to him at a comfortable distance, pointing as he explains the chords, maybe tapping miles' hand once or twice or demonstrating by showing him his own hands, and miles coming away from it knowing how to play the chorus of his fav song but also feeling weirdly disappointed/confused lmfao

Geralt comes in and hires him to help plan a wedding and Jaskier's immediately falling for him but it's horrible bc Geralt's engaged! He's helping plan the man's wedding!
But then it turns out Geralt's not the one marrying Yen, he's just her best man and that's why he was put on planning duty, and she's marrying Triss

She wanted to know who he was. She wanted to know him so badly. She wanted to know where he went when he got up so early, she wanted to meet his friends, she wanted to learn who his father was so she could give him a piece of her mind, she wanted to know how he drank his coffee and what he did in his free time. She wanted to show him her designs, even the bad ones, and she wanted to introduce him to her friends, and tell him about her day, and open up her world to him.
She wanted him by her side on her good days, because he always made them even better. She wanted him by her side on her bad days, because he always knew what to say to cheer her up. She wanted to be there for him on his good days, because his smile was so wondrous and infectious and she wanted to be with it every chance she could. She wanted to be there for him on his bad days, because she would do anything to help make him smile. She wanted him within her reach, where she could text him or call him or bump into him on the street, and not have to wait until patrol, or bedtime, or a stupid akuma battle to see him.

I don't consider Kaidan to be a young wide-eyed kid in me1 per se (he's. Older than Shepard. So the comic thing having Shepard call him a "good kid" is insanely funny to me), and Kaidan is doing well for himself career-wise, but I also think he comes into his own more over the course of the trilogy, not necessarily because of Shepard alone but I do think Shepard helps and encourages him and is just generally an example that inspires Kaidan, as Shepard tends to do for everyone.
Basically there's still a small gap between Shepard and Kaidan in me1 to me (not as pronounced as the one with Ashley) that's closed over time and Miles and Kaidan are much more side by side than a commander and his lieutenant. If that makes sense.
Simultaneously I think of Kaidan looking at Miles more completely and with a little less dazzle in his eyes. He of course still admires Shepard but it's not quite "looking up to him" anymore, it's more admiring him as a friend and colleague, and it's a lot more mutual. (Not to say Kaidan wasn't impressive in me1, but you get what I mean. Major Alenko, not Lieutenant.)

I’m like trying to figure out the line on lincoln lawyer that’s actually normal bc our society is so down on defense attorneys.
Like actually I don’t think there’s anything wrong with calling out a prosecutor for discussing a case you’re on with your ex wife in front of your daughter. I don’t really care if “it came up in conversation” and I don’t really see an issue with leveraging that so you can actually get your evidence on time like you should
I also don’t think his ex wife is owed for him getting a dirty cop put away who was literally taunting him about someone unfairly put in jail? Like sorry your case fell apart but maybe if your case is dependent only on a dirty cop it should fall apart?
