Roy Harper Dating HC (Request):
Tumblr media
Batfam:
This guy is already experienced with the Batfam
He meets you through missions and then gets closer and closer without the help of Jason
That helps a lot since Jason can trust him more
jay knows that you have a good sense of placement and that you can take care of yourself
So he just gives his blessing and moves on
Roy is the kind of guy that Bruce doesn't want you dating
He's the bad boy the dads are always trying to keep their daughters away but eventually, over time Roy earns his trust and blessing more and more
It starts out with him taking you on nice, simple dates
From beach walks and junk food picnics to an amusement park and movies, he makes sure to spend time with you
After any very stressful week of solving cases and patrol, he pulls you onto the couch to watch stupid reality TV or Star Wars movies
Totally an older- classic movie fan as well
Dude's a fanboy to things and you cannot change my mind
he stays in the cave working on his arrows and technique while you either train or work cases
Always teasing you and flirting
If you get a costume change, he notices (like really notices 🙃)
When Bruce annoys you, Roy is the kind of person that'll throw his fingers up like the bat ears on Bruce's suit and mock him
*Roy running around chaotically* I AM VenGeAnCe, I AM THE NigHT, I AM BaTMAn
it's pretty funny but he'd rather die than be caught by anyone but you since that'd be scary if it were B and embarrassing if it were anyone else
Superfam:
This dude SLOW BURN ROMEO AND JULIET
Clark does not approve
Basically the only way that you can get to Roy is when you're on a mission or with the league
Maybe you'd also be hanging with the Batfam since that's a thing for the Super and Bat kids to do
Jon and Kon aint no snitches so they say NOTHING
Kon does make the pact with Roy that he won't say anything but if Roy hurts you, it's done for him
Clark is very sure to make sure that you're always safe and sound
Which is annoying
At first you only really see Roy as the player guy with issues whom your dad always said to stay away from
and of course Superman knows best so you went with it
Lois knew that you'd have a crush on him eventually
After months and months of slowly getting more and more comfortable with Roy, you two went on your first date
It was secret and you had to make sure that your dad would never know
The time that Clark finally accepted it was when you were shot with Kryptonite by Luthor
Clark was devastated that he couldn't get to you since he was tied up at the moment during the same mission a few blocks away
Roy was the first on the scene and extracted the bullet making sure to give you an antidote
It saved your life and Clark owed it to him
You're always hanging out now
he teaches you to shoot with his bow and is impressed when you already know since it's a farm thing
Though he does teach you things that you wouldn't've gotten at the farm
You'll fly him up into the air to practice bird's eye shooting
best team work
Basically your high school sweetheart turned long lasting romance
Speedsters:
Crack heads
you two are insanely chaotic all the time
Going everywhere
Doing everything
Basically you have weekly movie nights, always running around, road trips, insane patrols and missions
Like ya'll do be doin the most
Barry and the rest accept him and love him
Wally is already close with Roy and so he's cool with it
He trusts Roy
Roy basically has the time of his life every single day
Flirting and pun gods
You, Jason, Roy, Wally, Star, Artemis, and Bazzaro are basically the Outlaw Justice League which is pretty awesome
The Justice League but mouthier and more likely to flip off a diplomat
Not that they didn't deserve it
He always makes sure that there's food
Very very important because a hangry Speedster is a terrifying site
He's also prone to having a very might metabolism
So there's always food
He likes energy drinks and was terrified the first time that you got your hands on one
It was non-stop chaos and now he hides caffeine and everything energy drink wise from you
absolutely not happening
Green Lantern:
He is always hanging out with you and that's that
Best friends to lovers
always wants to know things about your ring
Literally makes you create a crossbow or bow and arrows so that he can saw he's used the Green Lantern's weapons
Just so that he can do that, that's the only reason
May or may not have convinced you to create a massive crossbow so he can launch himself at a villain or something stupidly dangerous that you didn't have time to say no to
Always playing pranks on each other whether that be basic pranks or full on elaborate kind of collapse on floor pranks from laughing
Roy always misses you on your missions outside of Earth and makes sure to ask tons of questions when you get back since sometimes the missions are actually really really cool
You drag him to the League's tower since you have to go there for briefings
The best road trip music taste
Just a random thing but he probably has great music
Just sayin
makes you watch old movies especially sci-fi even if you've already seen them
Immaculate tv show taste
You create some really awesome archery courses for him to run which really help with training
All request are completed and coming out within the next few days, went ahead and got this done since my best friend asked for it lmao but they are coming quickly and daily, plus the Dick and then Bruce series are to come

Treehouse ✘ River Matthews (oc)
a/n: Don’t mind me dropping some random oc content. I would have just posted this on my fanfic blog, but I’d feel bad since I haven’t touched in a while. So instead have a short thing I wrote for my own enjoyment. I figured posting short things like every now and then might help my writer’s block.
universe: mainstream dc comics continuity (mostly, I stitch canon together a lot, trust me here)
word count: 977
summary: River doesn’t always have time for her family, but she tries to make the most of it when she does.
Tumblr media
Taking some off-time to visit her family was exactly what River needed. Hamilton County reminded her a lot of Smallville—the same small town, the same endless fields. It was comforting.
Part of her mission, while she was visiting, was to bond with her younger brother more. Jon was an easy-going kid, so she didn't think that would be hard, but she hadn't seen him in a few months. Occasionally she saw Jon as he was visiting Damian now that she lived in Gotham, which meant she'd sometimes see Clark as well. It occurred to her that carving out more time for her family was definitely in order.
In fact, part of her attempts to do so we're already coming to fruition. River often felt the need to busy herself, even when she was trying to spend time with her family. It felt right to at least put that to good use, so she was ecstatic when Clark approved her idea to build Jon a treehouse. It would take some time, sure, but she was dedicated.
A few times, Jon offered to help. It felt like the perfect learning opportunity for him, and it gave them some one-on-one time.
River tasked him with handing her tools for the time being. If there was ever a good time to try to talk with him, this might as well be it.
"I heard you've been patrolling with Damian," River said, grasping for a topic of conversation. If she remembered anything from her dad's attempts to bond with her as a kid, taking an interest in his life was a good step. Clark was much better at this than she was, but she hoped Jon appreciated her attempts.
Jon nodded as he handed her a hammer. "Yeah, we kinda have our own team going. We've been working together for a while."
The only times she'd interacted with Damian was the few times he'd helped her and Dick, though that didn't happen too often. He'd been...quite the character, in her opinion.
"And it's going well?"
"Yeah, at least I think so. It's nice to have a friend, even if we argue a lot." Jon paused for a moment, seemingly lost in contemplation. "Do you think Damian sees me as a friend?"
River paused her hammering and turned to him. There was a hopeful gleam in his eye, which told her easily enough that this poor kid definitely thought of Damian as a good friend.
She shrugged and set the hammer aside, giving him her full attention. "Does he ever call you his friend?" she asked.
"Well, no, but we do hang out a lot. And sometimes we sneak out for patrol and missions."
A nostalgic feeling sprung up on her without warning. That sounded like something she and Dick would have done as kids—they definitely had, the more she thought about it.
"I heard about that from dad. He didn't sound too happy when he told me, but I think he's proud you guys are working together," she said. "I'd say you guys are definitely friends."
Jon's eyes lit up as he remembered something. "Oh! Did I ever tell you about our last big adventure? The Summer of Super?"
The name sure sounded like something a ten-year-old would come up with, but it made her laugh.
"No, I don't believe you have."
As Jon went on a tangent—something about aliens and Lex Luthor and a cube—she went back to working on the treehouse. She found that she liked listening to Jon ramble about his adventures, and he sure had a lot to share.
By the time it got dark, River set aside the rest of the work for tomorrow and led him back inside the house. Naturally, he was still telling her about the "Summer of Super" when they made it inside. His rambling really only stopped when Lois called for bedtime. Admittedly, River already missed listening to her brother, but that just meant there was more for him to talk about tomorrow.
River stayed with her family for as long as it took her to build the treehouse. It took just over a week, but she was proud of her accomplishment. The finishing touches were added without Jon, but only for the surprise of the end product.
Having decorated the inside, River dragged Jon and their parents outside to see it for themselves. The excited gasp Jon gave the moment he spotted it was enough to fill her with pride. He hardly waited before climbing up the ladder.
"This is so cool!" Jon called from above. He took to exploring, and Clark ruffled her hair in a show of his own pride. She batted at his hand, though she appreciated the gesture, and made of fixing her already messy red hair.
"I don't think he's ever coming down from there."
Lois snorted and watched as Jon, who seemed to forget he wasn't alone, explored every inch of the treehouse. "I'm sure he'll try living out of it if we even give him a chance."
At least he liked it, which was exactly what River had hoped for. She did a good job.
"That just means I'm probably his favorite now," River realized. "I think it's safe to say this was time well spent."
Jon climbed back down and ran over to her, nearly knocking her over as he hugged her tightly. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" The kid had a surprisingly strong grip for a kid still growing into his powers.
River laughed and ruffled his hair. "No problem, buddy. I'll bet Damian doesn't have one of these."
"You think we can have sleepovers in the treehouse?"
"I'm sure Dad and Bruce could work that out."
Even if River didn't visit as often as she'd like, it was moments like this that she was grateful for her adopted family.

12. We dated back in highschool then you moved away but now you're back in town.
(for @legitpumpkin an AU in which the Kent's and Wayne's live in the same neighborhood of whatever town you'd like to pick.)
"Hey, did you hear the news?"
Jon looked up, eyebrows knitted together, his tongue was poking out of his mouth from his hyper concentration.
"What?" He asked absently, looking away from his brother back to his laptop, returning to reading his article.
Kon said something about Tim and someone coming back.
"Cool," Jon responded in that same absent tone.
"Jon, you literally did not hear a word I just said did you?"
Jon just shook his head, quickly deleting and rewriting a section.
"Leave him alone, Kon, he has deadlines to meet," Chris inputted from where he was laying on the sofa beside Jon, at an awkward angle so his feet weren't on the younger man.
"Fine. Pardon me for trying to tell him that his former lover is back in town."
"What?" Jon asked, interest mildly peaked now.
"Damian's back home for the summer."
The rapid click-clacking of Jon's keys completely stopped, and he blinked at Kon.
"And Tim says he's thinking about moving back to the States completely."
"Oh-" Jon breathed out.
"You should go talk to him," Chris suggested, pushing at his knee.
"Yeah.... God it's been what, five, six years?"
"Six. Five, since you guys broke up."
Jon hummed, returning to clicking away at his computer.
"Are you still in love with him?" Chris asked, looking at his phone.
"I don't know? It's been five years, Chris, I haven't seen him except maybe in passing once or twice. We don't really talk except occasionally commenting on each other's social media posts."
"Who?"
They all looked up when Lois walked in.
"Damian. He's back home," Kon supplied.
"Oh! Yes. Bruce just invited us over for dinner, actually."
"He what?" All three boys exclaimed at once.
"Yup! At six, which means you three need to be showered and wearing nice clothes!"
"Oh yes, how dare we show up to our childhood best friends house in our jorts and tanktops."
"Kon, we all know Dick would absolutely destroy you for wearing jorts," Chris said with a snort. "I'll go take first shower since busy body over here is still working."
"Look! Once I get this article turned in, I'm officially on break, but this is a pretty big story so I need to make sure it's perfect before I send it to the editors," Jon defended himself to empty air, as Kon and Chris had both already left.
He sighed and returned to typing.
An hour later, everyone was clean and dressed and they all took the short walk down the block to the Wayne's house together. The Wayne residence was the largest, and loudest building in the neighborhood. There were always people coming and going, and always children around, despite the fact that none of Bruce's kids had their own families yet. They could hear yelling inside before they even got to the front door, and Jon smiled at the fond memories that hit him. Clark stepped up and knocked on the door, and within a minute, the door was yanked open by Dick Grayson.
"Hey guys!" He exclaimed with a bright grin, immediately hugging Clark, and then Lois, and then all three of the boys.
"Hello, Dick."
"Come on in! Dad and Alfie are just finishing dinner, I think the others got kicked into the living room at some point, they were being too noisy."
"Aren't they always?" Jon asked with a smile, his writers mind already crafting out how he would report on this evening.
"Hey, now, Jonno," Dick said with a laugh, having to reach up to ruffle Jon's hair. "Man I miss when you were only this tall."
He held a hand down by his waist, shaking his head at the 6"2" man and tsking.
"Anyway! Come on!"
"I'm gonna pop into the kitchen," Lois said, and disappeared. Clark hesitated before following.
The boys just followed Dick deeper into the house where yelling and barking was coming from the family room. They entered and discovered Cassandra and Jason wrestling on the floor. Tim and Damian sat on the furniture, and Ace running around barking in dismay.
"Guys!" Dick protested, crossing his arms.
Cass let go of Jason, who rolled to his feet, sticking his tongue out at her. She immediately blew a raspberry before flipping up.
"Kon!" Tim exclaimed, jumping out of his seat and running to hug his friend.
Jon however, had made eye contact with Damian. And hot. Damn. Jon met Damian when he was 10. He had seen Damian grow up, had personally witnessed the awkward teen years where Damian had been growing into his own body and face. Hell he had dated Damian through the tail end of it. He knew Damian was an attractive person - look at his parents, it was the only logical thing to happen - but he had some how gotten hotter???
Damian would be around twenty-six by now, he was tall, maybe not as tall as Jon, but he couldn't quite be certain from this distance. His face was angular and defined, not quite the sharp features of his father, but more delicate and feminine like Talia. Everything about him screamed neatness, from his trimmed eyebrows, and clean shaven face, to his carefully styled hair and clothing. His hair was a different style the Jon last remembered seeing, shaved short on the sides and longer in the back, styled in a quiff. He was wearing black jeans and a button down, and Jon could see a gold necklace hanging around his throat. His beautiful, full lips curled into a soft smile as he scanned over Jon, before lazily pushing up to his feet. Oh yeah, Jon was definitely still taller.
"Hello, Jonathan," he said with a sweet smile, walking over.
His legs were still long and lanky, and he still walked with an insane amount of grace, a habit he had picked up from when he used to do ballet.
"Hi," Jon breathed out, finding himself completely awestruck.
Damian walked right up to him, hugging him gently. Jon immediately hugged him back, noting that he smelled like vanilla and citrus, but not in a bad way.
"It's good to see you," Damian said softly. His accent had thickened significantly in the past few years, and damn that was hot too.
"Yeah, oh my God, it's been forever." Jon pulled back to look at Damian again, his hand lingering on his arm.
Damian smiled up at him, his green eyes flicking over Jon's face. "Five years, really. Not forever."
"Okay, no, but it is a long time. Where all have you been at?" Jon asked, letting Damian push him out of the room where their siblings were talking loudly.
"I've been all over. Finished my schooling in Switzerland, and then spent sometime traveling around Europe. Then I've been in the Middle East with mother for the past few years. I enjoyed the traveling, but I think I'm ready to be back home."
"Wow. You'll have to tell me all about it!" Jon said, eyes wide with amazement.
Damian chuckled, nodding. "I'm sure we'll have time. You're a journalist now, no?"
"Yeah! Just hit my one year mark with the company I work for right now," Jon said with a proud grin.
"That's good, do you enjoy it?"
"Oh yeah, it always keeps me on my toes. I very rarely get bored with it."
"Okay! Dinner is ready!"
Jon jolted with the suddenness of Bruce's yell. Damian chuckled, looking past Jon at Bruce who was waving them over.
Dinner was nice and loud and noisy and Jon was hit with this painful realization of "Holy Shit Maybe I Am Still In Love With Damian" and he desperately needed to tell his brothers this development, but he didn't know how to do it slyly. So he just sat there in gay turmoil for a whole hour of a dinner. Then, while the others were heading to the living room, Damian snagged his hand and pulled him to the front door, clipping a leash on Ace and then walking outside. Jon followed silently, curious what was going on.
"Do you remember when we used to just go on walks around the neighborhood?"
"I remember sneaking over to your house a couple times in the middle of the night just to go on those walks," Jon answered, watching Ace sniff a bush. "And I remember getting my ass whooped the week my mom found out."
"And yet you kept doing it all through highschool," Damian said with an amused glance towards him.
"What do you expect. I was young, dumb and in love."
Damian chuckled, glancing down the road before crossing it.
"So, fill me in on what you've been up too since I left for Switzerland."
"Oh. Nothing wild, finished college, got my major in journalism, and minor in psychology. Got my job the same month as graduation, moved out in August, and I've just kinda been focusing on work since."
Damian hummed. "You always have been a bit of a busybody."
"Hey!"
Damian just grinned and gently nudged Jon.
"So, shall I just ask the awkward question?"
"What awkward question."
"Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Oh!" Jon felt his cheeks heat up and then he shrugged. "No, not right now. I dated a few guys in college, but not anyone for a while."
Damian hummed and nodded.
"Uh. What about you?"
"No. With all the traveling, and living in the Middle East..."
Jon nodded in understanding, pausing as Ace darted in front of him. Without thinking he took the leash from Damian and let Ace smell the along the other side of the sidewalk.
"So what are you going to be doing, now that you're back? Working for your dad?"
"No, probably not. I'm going to resume my modeling career, and I'll be working as a environmental ambassador, just little things like that."
"Oh, cool."
Damian hummed, putting his hands in his pockets. They crossed the street and started to head back home.
"So we're totally gonna start hanging out then, right?"
"Well of course, you're one of my best friends," Damian said with a smile.
"Even though I'm your ex?"
"Jon, dating you was some of the best years of my life."
"Oh," Jon said softly, feeling his face heat up.
Damian chuckled and shook his head, smiling at Jon fondly.
Oh yeah, Jon still had feelings for Damian.

Waltzing with a Wayne: A Super Sons Fic
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Jon just wanted to have a Christmas party with Damian. But he gets way more than he signed up for when Damian invites him to the Wayne Foundation Holiday Gala. Jon feels out of place and he can’t get a single moment alone with Damian.
Author’s notes: Hi HI! I wanted to do a damijon fic in time for Christmas, but I was fresh out of good ideas, and originally I had this way longer epic story planned with them on a mission on a mountain trying to save some captive children….but yeah that didn’t work out so well cuz my ideas ran out.
But then in a single day, I had this cool idea for a party and yeah, now it’s this fic! I hope you like it! Tell me what you think! And most of all, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
“Hey, Damian, we should have, like, a Christmas Party!”
“What for? Pennyworth makes a fine Christmas dinner on his own…”
“It’s different when it’s a party! It’ll be more fun with more people to hang out with!”
Jon winced. The memory of asking Damian to have a little Christmas party with him replayed in his head as he stared out into the sea of black suits and velvet gowns, lit with a subtle golden sheen from the ornate chandeliers fifty feet above on the ceiling.
“More people…” Jon muttered under his breath. This was definitely not what he’d had in mind.
The day before, he’d gotten a crisp, gold embroidered envelope with an invite to a special “Yuletide Gala” hosted by the Wayne Foundation. Now that he was at the event himself, he guessed that “yuletide” and “gala” meant “ridiculously-rich-people-party”.  It was being held at the Wayne Tower penthouse, all the way at the top floor of the 28-storey office block, which featured hanging gardens and a view of the city reserved for people with ‘Wayne’ as their last name, or people whose money belonged to Bruce Wayne. There seemed to be more than a hundred of Gotham’s wealthiest and most influential present, all in their best white ties, tuxedos, and evening gowns. Almost none of them were kids his age, and the few that were looked snobby with upturned noses and just shrunken versions of their parents’ clothes.
“Come along now, kiddo,” Clark prodded him gently from behind. “It won’t do for us to stay at the door.”
“Sorry, dad,” Jon replied sheepishly. “It’s just that…this place…it seems a bit much.” Jon gestured to the tall crystal double-doors, and the interior beyond it. The ballroom was covered with a rich crimson carpet and featured a magnificent and imposing grand staircase in the center, which supposedly led to “private lounges”—whatever those were—and the  outside rooftop garden park  that surrounded the entire storey . The roof was partly composed of thick glass panels that offered a view of the stars. There were several wall mounted fountains silently churning foamy water, and the southwest corner of the penthouse housed a violin quartet who played one generic fancy-sounding background music pieces, complete with sound equipment that looked more expensive than the violinists’ combined net worth.
Jon felt positively underdressed. He’d only worn a rented black coat and tie, and he didn’t even have proper dress shoes so he’d just worn his sneakers. His parents Lois and Clark, meanwhile, looked respectable, but nowhere near the level of posh that the other guests enjoyed.
“I know it looks intimidating, Jon,” Lois said as they were escorted by one of the ushers. “Going to your first high-society party always is. But this is old hat for me and your dad. I suppose being the Daily Planet’s best reporters has its perks.”
“And that has nothing to do with you and dad being best friends with Mister Wayne and Selina?” Jon asked with a smirk.
“Well…that, too,” Clark grinned.
“I thought parties were more…cheerful,” Jon lamented. “All everyone’s doing is standing and talking and laughing like they’re on a timer.”
“Well…this is only one way adults can host a party…” Clark began, but he was saved from having to explain the finer aspects of adulting when Alfred Pennyworth intercepted them, garbed in his head butler attire. The younger usher that had been escorting the Kents cowered more than bowed as he left them in Alfred’s care.
“Master Clark and Lady Lane,” Alfred bowed gracefully.
“Merry Christmas, Alfred,” Clark greeted as Lois gave the old butler a quick hug.
“And the same to you.” Alfred smiled and then gestured to the head table, which was distinctly larger than the others and enjoyed its very own debris field of paparazzi. “Master Wayne would like to have you at his table, if you please. I’ll escort Jon to where the other youths are.”
Jon appreciated how Alfred tactfully called them youths than “kids” or “children”. While he was still technically a child, being called that was extremely patronizing. Damian hated being patronized, and Jon could easily sympathize with the sentiment. It totally wasn’t because he was picking up Damian’s quirks. Probably.
“Finally, boyscout junior’s here!” Beast Boy cried out. Alfred dropped Jon off at a table where all the Teen Titans, plus Maya, were seated.
“I was beginning to fear you weren’t going to come,” Starfire said as she kissed Jon amiably on the cheek, much to his chagrin.
Jon greeted his friends in turn. All of them were dressed in their finest evening dresses, even Beast Boy, whose overall bearing was anything but formal. He explained that the Titans had these clothes in reserve for any celebratory after-villain-beatdown-and-town-saving parties of the formal sort and were supplied by Damian himself.
“So, uh,” Jon began as he looked around, “Where is Damian?”
“He’s off making nice to some of his dad’s business associates. He likes introducing himself as ‘Mr. Wayne’s heir’,” Kid Flash explained with barely suppressed laughter.
“Wow,” Jon winced. “Damian’s…on a really different level, huh? All I wanted was to give him my present…” he gestured sadly to the wrapped gift bag he was clutching with his right hand.
“Let me guess, little brother invited you here, and you thought it’s just gonna be us instead of this big gala?” Maya mused, and Jon nodded solemnly. “Well he’s not getting away with him leaving us out here to dry while he plays billionaire junior. Gimme a sec…” Maya smirked before disappearing into the crowd.
“She’s good,” Aqualad said after Maya had left. “Raven and I were trying to talk her into joining the Titans before you came along.”
“That’s awesome!” Jon beamed. “She’s really good in a fight and she can turn invisible and…” Jon frowned at the thought. “Hang on, how are people not noticing you guys being here? Especially you, Gar! You’re green!”
“I know! Don’t I look beautiful?” Beast Boy claimed with gusto, which made the rest of the Titans laugh.
“Don’t worry, Jon,” Raven assured him. “Although we’re here because Damian invited us, the guests and the paparazzi assume we’re here as honorary guests because we’ve saved Wayne Enterprise properties from destruction a few times before.”
“Oh,” Jon replied absently.
“Besides,” Kid Flash chimed in, “Heroes or not, we’re still just teenagers. These old farts won’t really care about us…unless we know anything about ‘taxable dividend payments under the new tax reform measure’.” Jon and the Titans burst out laughing because Kid Flash had used a faux upper-class tone with exaggerated vowels.
“Do you?” Starfire asked.
“No. But I’m good at eavesdropping while getting food from the buffet table,” Kid Flash admitted, prompting the Titans to laugh again.
“You’re welcome to stay with us here while waiting for Damian,” Raven said. Then she closed her eyes in a melodramatic way as if sensing something in the air, and said, “Speak of the devil…”
Maya had returned with her arm around Damian. The latter looked like he’d been unceremoniously dragged in from the other end of the enormous hall. Despite looking frazzled, he looked extremely…classy. Damian was sharply dressed, with a bespoke smoky gray tailcoat, formal trousers and shiny black leather shoes. His hair was stylishly parted at the side with just the right length of bangs framing his forehead to look unnaturally handsome. He flashed the group a smile that they were sure was carefully practiced in front of a mirror—or Alfred.
Tumblr media
“Good evening, Titans,” Damian greeted. “I hope the party is to your liking.”
Like clockwork, the three boys –Beast Boy, Aqualad, and Kid Flash—straightened up and adopted hilariously posh accents without skipping a beat.
“Why thank you, your grace. The evening has been splendid,” began Aqualad.
“Verily so, good sir. The tea has been marvelous, and the company grand.” added Kid Flash.
“Cheerio, jolly good fellow! Hath thou beheld the Queen's undergarments?” asked Beast Boy with utmost seriousness.
The table positively erupted in laughter. Surprisingly, the loudest was Raven, and Starfire and Aqualad spent the better part of two minutes calming her down. This earned them reproachful looks from the other adults in the vicinity, who seemed to question why the Wayne heir would keep such loud company.
The corners of Damian’s lips curled as if he just barely contained a smile. “Right. Well, you’re clearly having the time of your life. Merry Christmas. Now, I still have a few people to…”
“Wait, Damian!” Jon pleaded. “C’mon, can’t you stay here? You invited us after all…”
Without even waiting for Jon to take his next breath, Damian put an arm around Jon’s shoulder and pulled him close. The sudden contact caught Jon unaware as he lost his balance and ended up leaning on Damian, with his cheek pressed up against Damian’s face. He felt his blood rush to his head at the speed of light. Damian’s skin was so soft and smooth, and he smelled of spring flowers and freshly mowed grass—a very fragrant and expensive cologne, he wagered.
“I know, Jon,” Damian began, seemingly oblivious to the steadily overheating boy he’d just squeezed against his cheek, “I want you guys to have a good time. But I really need to get on with these introductions, otherwise, my father’s other guests will think I’m snubbing them, which would imply he’s a bad father for not raising me to be respectful and etcetera and all that… I’ll rejoin you as soon as I’m done.”
Just then, Dick Grayson approached them and waved. “Hey, guys! Glad you could make it! Kori, you look stunning!”
“You say that to all your girls, Dick,” Starfire said with a plaintive smile and a piercingly honest glare.
Dick paused. Starfire had stated it as a fact, and not as a rhetorical thing that would be open for good-natured denial. Dick settled for awkward laughter.
“Right, haha…say, can I borrow Damian for a sec? I promised the director of Gotham Prep a handshake from the little Mr. Wayne here…”
Damian’s eye twitched at the height joke and let go of Jon. The younger boy failed to steady himself after the surprise one-armed hug, prompting Maya to catch him before he stumbled.
“Well, duty calls.” Damian bowed dramatically. “Oh, one more thing—don’t take any drink that Todd offers you. It’ll be spiked with enough alcohol to render you flammable.” With that, he left with Grayson. Beast Boy meanwhile, smartly shunted his half-full wine glass as far away from him as possible.
Once Damian was swallowed by the crowd, Maya waved a hand in front of Jon’s face. It took a few seconds for Jon to understand that he was supposed to nod.
“Now, that, was cruel,” Kid Flash said as he shook his head.
“Poor boy,” Aqualad agreed as he patted Jon on the shoulder. “Why don’t you go and get yourself some food, huh? The buffet table is over there.”
“R-right,” Jon said, still in a daze. “I’ll go do that, then.”
After Jon had left, the Teen Titans gave each other knowing looks.
“Man, even for Damian, that was a low blow,” Aqualad said gravely.
“Damian did that on purpose, no doubt about it,” Beast Boy whistled. “Does he know what he does to the poor kid?”
An awkward silence lingered among them, with Maya struggling to ask a hundred questions with her baffled expression.
Finally, Starfire spoke up.
“I am raising mine to thirty-five dollars.”
“That’s fair,” Kid flash said. “I’ll put it on the record then. Anyone else want to raise?”
“Whoa, wait, what’s this all about?” Maya asked with a raised brow.
“We all have this ongoing bet on when Jon’s gonna confess to Damian about this huge crush he has for him,” Raven offered with a small smile. “The boys are betting it’ll be six months, but Kori and I are betting it’ll be before the year ends.”
“Don’t worry, Maya, it’s just for fun!” Beast Boy scratched his head apologetically. “All of us guys have thirty bucks each on the pot.”
Maya flashed him a shrewd look. “It won’t be very fun for you, Beast Boy.”
“Why’s that?” Beast Boy’s face fell.
Maya fished out a twenty from her purse and handed it over to a very stunned Kid Flash.
“I’m just saying you better be ready to get cleaned out because I’ve known these boys for longer, and my money is on them getting together before the year ends.” The girls cheered.
“Well, boys, I think we’re in for a tough bet,” Aqualad sighed.
Superman’s super-hearing had the uncanny ability to hear people’s heartbeats. Jon’s dad was so adept at using the skill, though, that he’d actually taken to memorizing the heartbeats of the people closest to him, such as Lois, Jon, and Batman, so that should they be in danger, he could instantly locate them. Jon himself hadn’t really gotten the hang of that memorized heartbeat thing, but he had been trying.
There was one heartbeat he had tried to memorize—it sounded calm and stoic, but solid and strong, the kind of rhythm you’d expect from a trained hunter that was ready to strike at any moment. Every thump, thump, thump reverberated in Jon’s ear, and he’d been familiarizing himself with its more subtle properties, like its timbre and frequency. It was only the heartbeat of the tiniest Wayne child, after all—the one that had been ever-present in Jon’s thoughts for what seemed like forever. And so, after a protracted amount of time straining his ears and scrunching up his face like he was having indigestion—and then finally asking Alfred—Jon found Damian alone on a garden balcony staring out at the cityscape below.
Without looking behind, Damian patted a spot on the marble terrace beside him, and Jon took it as an invitation. Damian propped his head up with his hands, and his elbows were leaning on the polished stone surface of the railing. The view from 28th storey of Wayne Tower boasted a spectacular kaleidoscope of Gotham lit by all manner of lights, and topped by a dark blue sky with innumerable glinting stars.
Jon was awestruck by the sight.
Tumblr media
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Damian asked.
“What?” Jon asked back in confusion.
“The city. The lights. That’s what my father always says.” Damian breathed a heavy sigh. His breath fogged up in the winter evening air. “It’s beautiful, but the lights hide the dark corners. There’s always something foul beneath the beauty, and it’s our job to clean it all up.”
“You sound awfully moody today,” Jon remarked. He gazed longingly at Damian’s languid face, but the latter didn’t return the eye contact.
“Just thinking,” Damian decided after a while. “The past few days, the Bat Family has been ramping up patrols. Just today, the police airwaves had zero crime alerts. Sure, it’s also Christmas, but imagine that—one day of no crime.”
“We need more days like that,” Jon said earnestly. “And we’ll definitely make it happen.”
Damian turned to look at him. He was either smiling, or giving Jon a half-smirk. “Great minds do think alike.”
“And your mind is so great, is it?” Jon teased and punched Damian lightly on the shoulder.
“If I said it wasn’t, then you’d know I’m the evil clone and you’ll have my permission to laser my face off,” Damian offered as he playfully kicked Jon’s foot.
“That’s too bad— I like your face.” Jon said off-handedly. His face flushed three seconds after when he’d realized what his words sounded like, “Uh, I mean…uh, that sounded better in my head…”
Tumblr media
Damian’s smile turned to honest laughter in a matter of seconds. Jon only realized it just then, but he’d never really heard Damian laugh in a good way. Before, it’d always been mocking, or teasing, or rueful…but now Damian sounded genuinely happy.
“You’re bad at this,” Damian chuckled.
“Bad at what?” Jon asked nervously, worried that he was doing something seriously wrong.
Damian said nothing, as he kept his smile. He seemed to be sizing Jon up. The quartet below seemed to be performing their best piece, judging by how quiet the audience went as they either sipped their wine to enjoy the music or else step onto the dance floor with their significant others. The violin quartet themselves played with renewed vigor, as if they were determined to redeem themselves after a lackluster night.

“’La vie en rose’,” Damian mused as he tilted his head toward the music below. “First sung by Edith Piaf in the original French. It’s a seminal nuptial ballad.”
“I…have absolutely no idea what half the things you said meant,” Jon chuckled in defeat.
“That, and with many other things,” Damian smirked. “That’s why I’m going to start teaching you.”
“Teaching me what?”
“Everything,” Damian answered confidently. “Starting with your basic ballroom waltz.” He suddenly grasped Jon’s hand in his own, and raised it. He put his other hand on Jon’s back. “Put your other hand on my shoulder,” he instructed.
“Damian, w—why are you doing this?” Jon asked frantically as he clumsily did as he was told. His cheeks were turning a rich shade of red.
Damian guided Jon’s feet so that they were spaced apart and looked him in the eye, the smile never leaving his face. “How many years have we been partners, now? The day will come when we’ll have to go to a party like this together. And we’ll have to dance, just like this. Now’s the best time to teach you.”
“But…with me? I’m a b—“
“You’re my partner—and the only one I’d do this with,” Damian replied firmly but gently.
“But I can’t dance!” Jon gasped as Damian led him through the footwork. His steps were awkward and he managed to step on Damian’s toes every other time.
“It’s easy if you calm down and follow my lead…”
“Damian, please…I don’t want to embarrass you in front of anyone…” Jon pleaded.
Tumblr media
“Shhh…” Damian cooed as he placed a finger on Jon’s lips. He leaned in close so that he could whisper in Jon’s ear. “No one else is here. Just you and me. Focus on me. Right now, we’re the only ones in the world that matter. Now…one, two, three…one, two, three…”
It suddenly made so much sense to Jon. The soothing music and the flow of the dance, Damian’s silky voice and warm breath on his neck. With one, two, three, awkward steps, and again, and again, Jon’s world found a pattern that he could understand. His eyes never left Damian’s, and he found himself enjoying every rotation, the rhythmic cadence of the violins syncing with his steps and with his heartbeat. Even when he closed his eyes to bask in Damian’s closeness, and as his lips were met with a moist warm sensation—the heat of a trusted friend making a lifelong promise—the dance went on, and on, and on.
The stars bore witness to a young hero, who simply wore a rented suit and red sneakers, learning how to dance with his feet, his lips, and his heart. And down below among the throng of black coats, three teenage boys lost the rest of their week’s food allowance.

Diana during the first day of class: The common theme in world history is that White Men Ruin Everything
donna is captain of the wrestling team
she’s really good and everyone on the wrestling team aspires to be her and everyone on the rival school’s (arkham academy) team wants to beat her
kory was an exchange student during her freshman year and eventually decides to stay. she’s cheer captain but also known for arguing for equality and stages like school walkouts and things and no one ever challenges her bc she’s tall and buff and her gf is the captain of the wrestling team
wally runs track and field
wally is iris's nephew and barry and iris met at a track meet when iris came to pick him up and he was like hey wally what's ur aunt's number? and wally was like ‘sorry coach barry my aunt isn’t looking rn’ bc he thought it’d be weird if his coach dated his aunt but barry shoots his shot anyways and now barry and iris are engaged
also wally is a senior n bart is a freshman so when barry makes bart co-captain wally is like what the fuck is the point of you being engaged to my aunt if i dont get nepotism?????? n barry's like wally he's ur cousin and wally's like not if he steals my scholarships and they fight a lot but they l*ve each other
roy is president of the archery club with his sorta sister artemis crock and jason is a lit nerd who roy flirts with but jason just thinks he wants homework so he ignores him
roy struggles with being a good dad while also fighting his addiction and work part time to try and save up for college after ollie kicked him out all on top of being a senior in high school
artemis is good friends w mia and conner bc first they were in the archery club together and then she joins the family after jade has lian and she’s like i’m sorry jade is vicious and tries to help out with lian as much as possible and mia and conner respect that
artemis is a really good aunt, she loves lian so much and spends all of her pocket money on taking her niece places. she ditches school to get slurpees w her girlfriends zatanna and m’gann. m’gann helps her study for her classes and with her homework. both make sure she stays in school cause artemis almost flunks out at one point bc of family stuff. also artemis is in lit club bc Z is in it and she supports her
jason lives in an apartment and he makes bruce pay for it as reparations for being a bad dad. but he also works bc he’ll be damned if he has to live off of bruce’s money permanently and eventually starts paying for his own bills and stuff
dick is captain of the gymnastics team and he’s really good. he’s the best in the region and has only ever lost a meet once (which was nationals, he came 2nd place)
tiger, dick, and helena went to summer camp together. tiger doesn’t go to their school, he goes to a gotham boarding school and dick sneaks into his room at night to hang out/make out and tiger comes to dick’s meets and helena tags along
also wally has a big crush on dick and he has since they were kids and dick liked him too. but wally thought dick wasn’t interested so he never went for it and then dick being dick just moved on and now wally just pines after him and it’s sad :/
damian is a snot nose 9 year old kid who hangs around the gymnastic team’s practices to hang out with his big bro and he sneers at the team and says he could do it better (which he can)
the summer before jason’s sophomore year he disappears after an incident and no one knows what happened to him but afterwards bruce sends him to boarding school to correct his behavior (which is where he meets amazon artemis and bizarro) until jason says fuck this and comes back junior year and everyone spread rumors that he like died while he was gone bc no one ever saw him so when he returned everyone was like :O and dick is really excited he’s back but jason is pissed at him bc he didn’t like support jason in fighting w bruce to let him stay
jason has bruce’s number blocked for the drama of it and bruce refuses to think his son blocked him so he's like "oh his phone must be off he's so busy love that guy (:" and no one has the heart to tell him. the rare times he does answer the phone when bruce calls, he recites a monologue and hangs up. he’s also president of drama club and also of literature club
jason recites historic and iconic monologues and soliloquies (bc he has them memorized for certain situations) except he just sprinkles curse words in
jason’s english teacher is about to fucking quit their job bc jason always tries to teach the class
cass is the best student in bruce’s class and also his daughter and she’s fairly quiet and hangs out mostly with her brothers. people like don’t really know who she is other than like hey that’s the kick ass dancer on helena’s dance team or oh! that’s the girl who kicked my ass sparring in Mr. Wayne’s class. she meets steph in one of bruce’s classes and she’s like wild and outgoing and funny and cass has a really big crush on her but she doesn’t think steph feels the same way (she does though) also steph can drive and she’s always taking cass on these really fun adventures but bruce doesn’t approve of steph so cass like sneaks out to go hang out with steph but bruce never knows bc he thinks she’s the perfect daughter and like steph brings cass out of her shell. she’s also on the gymnastics team with dick and is the second highest placing athlete on the team.
my boy duke thomas and his parents were good friends of bruce right so when during the summer before his freshman year his parents die in a freak car accident bruce takes him in. he’s a sophomore now and he’s still adjusting to life with bruce and he thinks his new siblings are kinda weird but cool. he’s also really focused on making sure his grades are immaculate so that he can get into his dream school and make his parents proud. he is in the school band and he’s really great and tim is also in band bc bruce made him but he’s not as good as duke
jason met duke at a family dinner he was forced to go to and thinks he’s cool unlike his other loser brother and makes him join literature club
tim drake is a freshmen and gets shoved into lockers. his only friends are kon, bart, and cassie. he joined the coding club bc he thinks babs is extra cool and wants to be like her
jason is the one shoving him in the locker and tim’s like what the fuck you’re the nerd here and jason’s like funny isn’t it and then closes the locker
bart hangs out with tim and kon and cassie. except cassie is cool from being on the wrestling team and being donna’s cousin so she’s always really busy but she tries to make time for them. wally shoves him into lockers sometimes and kon has to get them both out.
kon is in his rebellious teen phase where he's like fuck u dad i don’t wanna be a farmer but its justified bc kon is techinically an illegitimate child from a previous relationship and clark is kind of a dick to him bc he treats Jon better than Kon
helena and dinah make out under the school bleachers before helena has dance practice and when helena has to go dinah smacks her ass and says knock em dead babe
helena originally took mr. wayne's martial arts class because she needed PE credit but now she kinda likes it. the whole time she’s there she objects to bruce's passive approach to fighting
bruce: fight to disarm or incapacitate ur partner helena: thats dumb, fight to kill ur partner
bruce wayne voice: helena this is a PE class please stop trying to murder your partners
kate kane subs for bruce sometimes but she supports helena's kill ur partner attitude so they don’t hire her very often
helena is captain of the dance team and they perform at all school rallies and football games and shes really hard on her team mates but only bc she wants them to be their best and babs & dinah make her music mixes for performances bc they love her
babs is president of the coding club and even though she’s a nerd everyone respects her. her and dick went on a date once and then when he kissed her good night she realized she was a lesbian. they’re still buddies though. she dated dinah for awhile but they decided they were better as friends. helena and babs became friends in the martial arts class and babs introduced helena and dinah and the three have been bffs ever since.
