I noticed a parallel to the confession scenes of these two couples and I love it so I wanted to share!

Zenyuki: Snow White With the Red Hair chapter 14.

Shirayuki runs from Zen to get her composure after the previous incident where Zen kissed her. Zen catches up to her, they sit down and talk. Shirayuki comes to realize that she is in love with Zen and tearfully confesses. Zen kneels down in front of Shirayuki asking her to be by his side and they kiss

Kyohru: Fruits Basket Chapter 129

Tohru after being released from the hospital (due to an incident) runs away from Kyo. Not ready to face him yet after confessing her feelings and thinking he rejected her. Kyo catches up to her, kneels in front of her and confesses his feelings to her. She asks if it is okay to be with him and they kiss.

27: “green light” by lorde

i think that this song fits a very specific kyohru storyline that lives in my head only. like think abt it from tohru’s point of view, thinking about kyo. the lines “did it frighten you / how we kissed when we danced on the light up floor?” feel like they apply deeply to a couple that are afraid of their own wanting. kyo, with his worry that he hasn’t earned the love she’s given him and he wants to reject it because he’s afraid. tohru, with the ultimate selfless act of not taking anything for herself, no matter what it is, even if it's love.

but then the lines “i’ll be seein’ you ‘ever i go… i’m waiting for it, that green light” are the two of them wanting and desiring even though they’re worried about it. i have this very specific idea in my head of the two of them dancing, knowing that they’ll have to fight to be together, but also knowing that it’s worth the waiting.

72: “liability” by lorde

damn i rly listened to more lorde than i thought huh. she’s 5 of my top 100. anyways. GOD OKAY. ngl. i’m thinking of this as a tamaki song. because he’s all i think about ever, even when i’m fixating on other media (*cough cough* haikyuu). but like seriously. this can so easily be a tamaki song. “i'm a little much for everyone” is like. the mantra of someone wild and free and dramatic and just too much all around, and people repeatedly look at tamaki as moody and dramatic, even thinking of him as too messy or dreamy to work with. then “the truth is i am a toy that people enjoy” made me immediately think of yuzuru and tamaki’s relationship. which. holy shit. that’s a problem. i love tamaki so much he deserves better. he can be self-confident at times, but he’s also dramatic and moody because he’s insecure about his emotions, and that’s very much the story of this song.

28. “This is why we can’t have nice things.” 

“You didn’t.”

“I did.” 

“Tohru,” Kyo chides. “We talked about this.” 

She looks at him with wide, doleful eyes. “But he’s so cute,” she says, holding up the mangy street cat. 

“This is why we can’t have nice things.” 

“Can we keep him?” she begs. 

He wants to say no. He wants to pry the cat gently from her hands and toss it back out into the street. It probably has fleas, for God’s sake. 

What he says instead, through gritted teeth, is “Come on. Let’s give it a bath.” 

She squeals and bounces on her tiptoes, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “Thank you, Kyo!”

The cat isn’t thrilled about the bath, but it doesn’t scratch or hiss as Tohru dunks it in the water and works the mats out of its fur, either. 

Kyo sits on the floor next to her, glaring at the cat when she’s not looking. He swears it glares back. 

But he’s not, like, jealous or anything though. That would be silly. 

He even helps Tohru dry the cat with a hairdryer after its bath. Once it’s clean, it doesn’t look quite as grumpy. 

Way too skinny, though. Maybe he’ll fry up an extra piece of fish with dinner. It’s not like he wants the damn thing to starve.  

“What are you going to name it?” he asks Tohru, her hands buried blissfully in the cat’s now-silky fur. 

“Oh, I hadn’t thought about it,” she says. “I’m sure we’ll think of something.” 

Of course she hadn’t thought about it. She was too preoccupied with rescuing it and making sure it was warm and fed. Speaking of fed. 

“Here,” he says gruffly, setting a piece of fish down on the floor in front of the cat. 

The cat nibbles the fish, then nuzzles up against Kyo’s hand. 

“He likes you,” Tohru croons.

Kyo hasn’t missed cats. For a solid month of junior high, a herd of them had followed him home from school every single day. After that, he had tried to keep his distance and mind his business. 

But this one might be alright, if they absolutely have to have a cat. 

After feasting on Kyo’s fish, the cat explores their little apartment. Kyo can almost see literal hearts in Tohru’s eyes as she watches it dart from corner to corner. 

Geez. If she’s practically blubbering over an alleycat, what’s she going to be like when they have kids? 

It’s a strange adjustment, going about their evening with a little feline traipsing around like it owns the place. 

But to her credit, Tohru doesn’t say a word when Kyo falls asleep with the cat curled up on his shoulder. 

It still doesn’t mean he likes the thing.

Also, wow, this might be a record time for me finishing a drabble, haha

I went ahead with Nalu, since that’s what I pretty much always write, haha (with like one or two Kyohru drabbles and an almost-could-be-considered-Zelink drabble)

Lucy’s heart fluttered as she saw Natsu grin at the joke he’d just made about the two seagulls fighting over a French fry. He glanced her way and Lucy could feel her cheeks flush as she looked away from his gaze. When had it come to this!? She couldn’t spend time with him without her heart feeling like it was gonna go crazy!

All the two were doing today was walking along the pier. It had been a long day of classes and Lucy had felt drained, so Natsu insisted they go out and buy one of the huge funnel cakes from the shop on the pier that he knew Lucy loved to lift her spirits.

Still trying to get rid of her blush before he noticed it, Lucy hid behind said funnel cake, holding it in her hands.

“Is it not good?” Natsu asked.

Lucy looked up in alarm before realizing what he was referring to. She’d only taken a few bites of the funnel cake he’d bought for her. With how much just being in his presence made her stomach fill with butterflies, Lucy couldn’t manage to eat any more than that. Still, she smiled and nibbled at it.

“No, no, it’s fine!” She insisted. “I’m just not feeling it today, I guess.”

Natsu chuckled as if he was in on some sort of joke, but it wasn’t one that Lucy was aware of. She looked to him in confusion, but nothing about his expression gave anything away, so she looked back to the pastry she was still clenching tightly in her hands.

It was approaching sunset, Lucy noticed. The sky was filled with wondrous pinks and oranges and blues as the sun shifted below the water that reflected those same colors.

Lucy took another nibble from her funnel cake as she looked out across the view. The breeze turned into a gust in all of a moment and Lucy sputtered as she tried to pull her loose, long hair out of her face and out of her food.

She heard Natsu laugh again, and Lucy gave him a glare and shouted, “Hey, why don’t you help me with my hair instead of laughing!” as she tried to gather her hair up in one hand to rescue it from the wind.

Natsu suddenly pulled her hair from her face and cupped her cheek. Lucy blushed at the action, and she watched as Natsu’s smile grew at the reddening of her cheeks.

“Natsu-“

“Sorry, but I can’t wait any longer,” he said and before she knew it, his lips were pressed against hers.

Lucy’s heart stopped for a moment as she distantly heard the cry of seagulls fighting to get to the funnel cake she’d just dropped on the ground, but then it was thumping sporadically in her chest as she closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back.

The sun had already dipped below the water by the time Natsu pulled back, leaving Lucy’s lips in a longing pucker while the last remaining streaks of red went over the horizon and the stars began to twinkle above them.

“Natsu, what was that!?” Lucy asked, pressing her fingers against her lips like she couldn’t believe she’d just felt the softness of Natsu’s lips there.

“A surprise attack,” he responded with a smile, surging forward and kissing her again.

K: Killer Move - As a ler, do they have special skills to use against their lees and drive them crazy with?

Okay so this is kind of a Tohru exclusive killer move LOL but sometimes if he's tickling her and he gets too close, he might end up transforming. Tohru always dreads when this happens bc cat Kyo is almost more tickly than regular Kyo. He starts to make biscuits on her tummy with his paws and she just loses it when he does it (who wouldn't???) and sometimes if he's still not done with the biscuits he'll nuzzle her neck with his nose and that's SUPER tickly bc his nose is a bit cold and his whiskers are also tickly so it's just like,,, she's a mess after LOL.

L: Laughter - What does their laughter sound like when they are tickled?

OMG okay so Kyo has some of the brightest laughter ever and everyone who hears it is like "is that Kyo??" bc it's so happy and bubbly you wouldn't expect it coming from him since he has this kinda,,, "bad boy" persona LOL idk how else to describe it. He also can sometimes get a little hiccupy if he's been laughing too long (usually as a result of Kagura, Yuki, or Shigure) and it's really cute ughhh,,, I think he just has a really sweet laugh okay don't look at meee

U: Unusual - Do they have some unusual tickle spots? Where?

Coming back to the cat thing, he's ticklish behind his ears! Not like super ticklish, but he can get a bit giggly and try to push someone away if they tickle him there. Sorry I'm totally making this a Kyohru post but sometimes if Tohru is near him she might kiss him in that spot like below/behind his ear and he jolts bc not only did she kiss him but she also tickled him and he's just like "WAAH!" kinda?? lolol but when he's in cat form he's still ticklish there too which is really cuteeee

I AM IN LOVE WITH FRUITS BASKET AND AM JUST LOVING THE REBOOT. I read the manga but it was YEARS ago so I only really remember the big plot relevant things, so it feels like I’m discovering the story all over again :’) kyoru is the absolute BEST and I cannot WAIT for Yuki to realize that “oooooh theres more than ONE way to love someone???? !!!!!” AND THE TRUE FORM ARC IS COMING AND IM NOT READY BUT IM EXCITED

Fruits Basket is one of those animes that I forget about for ten years and then remember I love it and am immediately THRUST BACK INTO FANDOM AND NEVER STOP TALKING ABOUT IT EVER.

HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE AN INSIGHTFUL CHARACTER PIECE ABOUT INTERGENERATIONAL TRAUMA AND THE CYCLE OF FAMILIAL ABUSE I MEAN C’MON.

I was so leery about the reboot--like excited, because I get my Kyohru endgame, but I just loved the 2001 anime so much, I loved the dub, I loved the animation, I loved the tone and atmosphere, so I didn’t know how to feel.  And I finally glumly looked up the English dub AND DISCOVERED I GET THE ORIGINAL DUB CAST BACK AND WHOO BOY HOWDY I’M SO FUCKING IN.  

AUGHHHH THE TRUE FORM ARC.  I AM NOT READY.  I ALREADY BAWLED MY EYES OUT DURING THE HATORI EPISODE.

I’M ALSO REALLY EXCITED ABOUT MEETING IZUSA CUZ WE NEVER GOT TO MEET HER IN THE 2001 ANIME AND I REALLY LOVE HER SO I’M EXCITED.  

And I love how the reboot is playing up Shigure’s darkness and ambivalent morality.  He had that in the manga, less so in the 2001 anime, so it seems like the reboot is being really faithful to the manga which is exciting to see.  I can tell the VA is having a really good time dipping into that nuance.  

WE.  GET.  TO HAVE.  A KISS.  IN THIS ANIME.  FUCK YEAHHHHHH!!!

Kiss Ask #17 to distract, Kyo x Tohru

Ooh, another Kyohru request! I hope you like it!

Tohru was calm as she woke up. The sunlight streamed in the windows, birds tittered outside, and the fever she'd had all night seemed to have finally broken. She turned over in bed, perhaps looking for Kyo, and saw the clock on his nightstand.

Then a panic set in.

"Almost ten already!? How could I have slept so late!?"

Kyo chuckled downstairs as he heard her fretting. After so many years of marriage, he was used to her post-sickness freak outs. He finished with his daughter's diaper and sent her to play before going upstairs to keep Tohru from going too crazy.

"Tohru, it's okay!" he tried to call her down.

"I have so much to do today! I didn't get all the chores or the shopping done yesterday since I got sick and now it's already ten and I haven't even started-"

"Tohru-"

"And Hajime was going on that field trip today, I was supposed to pack him a lunch-"

"Tohru-"

"And I set the alarm early today even so I made sure to get up in time and-"

"Tohru!"

"Oh dear, you've been home all day with the kids, haven't you? What about the dojo!? Is it going to be oka-"

Tohru's eyes widened as her worrying was silenced by her husband's lips against hers. She relaxed at the feeling and smiled when he brought his hand up near her ear to cup her head.

"Don't worry, Tohru," he told her. "You were still a bit feverish this morning, so I shut your alarm off. I took care of Hajime's lunch, and the dojo is okay. Kunimitsu said he'd be fine without me. Actually insisted I stayed home when I explained you were sick."

Tohru nodded, feeling more relieved. "Okay. Alright, thank you Kyo."

He moved his hand over to her forehead. "Hm, you still feel a little warm."

"I'm still sick!? But you just kissed me! Oh no, Kyo, what if I get you sick?"

Kyo chuckled again and cupped her cheeks. "Then I know I'll have someone who'll look after me just as well as.I looked after her."

Tohru blushed when he pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Yeah, I will! I'll take as best care of you as I can!"

"I know you will, Tohru. You always do." He stood up from the bed again and stretched. "If you're up for it, I can make you something to eat, otherwise you can just go back to sleep if you wanna."

Tohru nodded. "I'll... Probably get up in a bit."

Kyo smiled. "Just let me know about the food, Honey. You'd better eat before too long." The sound of one of their children yelling downstairs interrupted the stillness. "I should go now, make sure the littles aren't gettin' into trouble." Tohru nodded again, signalling for him to go check on the kids.
