This is really interesting and it actually pertains to my home work
In a data set of 1000 people;
1 in 4 self diagnosed based off of social media
43% seek medical advice
82% have the diagnosis confirmed
So, 250 people self diagnosed
107(.5) sought medical attention
88(.15) had their diagnosis confirmed
The other 19 might've still be right but for some reason or another couldn't get diagnosed
In my opinion this should call for a larger data set and then comparison of the results
Also the 57% that didn't seek medical advice should be evaluated so we can see how if they had how the number would've shifted if they sought out professionals

The Digital Dilemma: Social Media and Its Impact on Youth Mental Health | Solh Wellness
The usage of social media by young people has recently been a major subject of concern. Many young people appear to be completely immersed in it, even living their lives via it. The primary motivation for taking photos nowadays is to share them on various social media platforms. The concept of making genuine memories seems to have vanished.
Another point of dispute has arisen as a result of this: the distinction between reel life (online) and real life. On social media, people frequently present an idealized image of their lives. These posts are usually packed with smiles and depict a happy life. This, on the other hand, has the ability to mislead those who follow them, leading them to believe that everyone else is prospering while they are failing. This viewpoint could contribute to an increase in sadness. To combat this, a new movement has evolved in which people are encouraged to talk about their personal difficulties. While this is a step in the right direction, it is only the beginning of resolving these challenges.
Tumblr media
Everything would appear to be fine if these issues did not have an impact on the mental health of young people. Unfortunately, this is not the case, and the results are disastrous. Because some people use social media to publish private photographs or conversations of others that should be kept private, the impact on them is negative. It is all too typical for accounts to be hacked and then used for blackmail. Tragically, this has resulted in suicides, and survivors of comparable situations have experienced significant mental health implications.
Aside from the issues mentioned above, young people are increasingly reliant on their social media presence. It has gotten to the point that many find it difficult to function without their phones. FOMO, which is the fear of missing out, has evolved as a new problem as a result of this phenomenon. This idea is centered on those who are addicted to social media and are continuously anxious that if they do not continually check their accounts, they will miss out on something significant that is currently trending. This absence could shame them in their social groups.
Here are some ideas to help young people deal with social media challenges:
Establish Boundaries: Setting limitations on your social media usage is critical. To maintain a healthy balance, limit your time on these platforms to a few hours per day and take regular breaks from your gadgets.
Choose Your Connections Wisely: Choose your following with caution. Maintain contact with those that inspire and motivate you. If particular accounts are contributing to negativity, consider unfollowing them.
Take Periodic Breaks: If you're feeling especially anxious, go away from social media for a few minutes. Taking some time off can help you cleanse your thoughts and return to work with a fresh perspective.
Emphasize the Positive: When using the internet, concentrate on promoting content and stories. Rather than focusing on bad content, seek out positive and uplifting content.
Reality Check: Keep in mind that social media presents an incorrect depiction of life. What you see is frequently only the highlights, not the entire picture. Remember that it is not an accurate representation of real-life experiences.
Seek Support: If you're experiencing difficulty using social media, speak with a trusted adult, such as a parent, teacher, or counselor. They can assist you in developing methods for coping with social media issues.
Conclusion
Excessive social media use harms youth by distorting reality, invading privacy, and fostering reliance. Setting boundaries, developing strategic connections, pausing, focusing on positive information, and getting help are all solutions. To protect children's well-being, we must all work together to promote safe internet use.

Internet addiction is one of the commonest complaints put forward by parents of teenage kids. Another common complaint is disinterest in socializing in the real world. Youth today are like isolated islands, glued to their i- pad, i-pod and all kinds of intelligent gadgets, lost in the  virtual world.

The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health of Young Adults | Solh Wellness
Social media is taking over our lives more and more, yet it also provides us with a fresh perspective on the world. It provides us with knowledge, keeps us connected, and is now necessary for career advancement. As much as we appreciate its advantages, we also need to be aware of the severe harm it can cause to our mental health, especially in young adults.
Tumblr media
Important issues with social media use:
FOMO, or the fear of missing out, is one of the major problems with social media. We frequently fear missing out on exciting activities or significant events if we don't follow anything on social media. When we see our friends' posts about events, trips, or social gatherings, we could feel inadequate, lonely, or worried that we won't live up to society's standards. Always keep in mind that social media only shows the highlights of people's life, not the entirety of them.
Social media sites commonly showcase people's life in an idealised way by showcasing their accomplishments, vacation experiences, relationships, and financial belongings. As a result, envy and comparison could occur. Continuous contact with these seemingly ideal lives may promote anger and disparity. When we evaluate ourselves in comparison to others, we could begin to question our own achievements, beauty, and general value. Always keep in mind that each person's experience is distinct and that what we see on social media only provides a small portion of the whole picture.
On concerns with negative body and self-image, the ubiquity of professionally altered and filtered photographs on social media can have a substantial detrimental impact. Online representations of unrealistic beauty standards have been linked to problems with physique and self-image. If we are always surrounded by perfect people, great physique, and perfect lives, we could start to feel inadequate and unsatisfied with how we look. This could damage one's self-esteem and open the door for eating disorders or other issues with the body.
Social media can be used for online abuse and cyberbullying in addition to providing a venue for connection and conversation. Some people are more likely to engage in risky behaviour due to the anonymity offered by the internet. Threats, slurs, and derogatory language can have a negative impact on mental health and lead to despair, anxiety, and emotional discomfort. To report and stop any incidents of cyberbullying, it is essential to get in touch with supportive people or organisations. In conclusion, problems with social media use that go unaddressed can harm mental health, including depression, anxiety, and other conditions that are connected to it. For these issues to be overcome, setting boundaries and giving mental health priority are essential.
Conclusion
Teens can openly share their real-life experiences and have important conversations on the genuine and encouraging platform offered by Solh Wellness. We can encourage a balanced approach to using social media and safeguard our mental wellbeing in the digital age by encouraging people to express their real selves via the use of tools like journaling and support groups. Young people may use social media while prioritising their mental health thanks to Solh Wellness' safe zone where they can be themselves and get support.
