yeah his grandmother really helped forced pete's perspective here because she knows him so well and can see exactly what hes doing/ what hes being in denial of. so its definitely cracked a door for pete to better view his feelings in a way.

but the deal with the russians is definitely tied in with vegas' foot in mouth moment about pete bottoming and petes storming off to go a sleep with someone else out of spite (before he admits to the fact that he only wants vegas and they finally get their heads out of the asses and make it official- and by then vegas will be at least a little better healed for them to start having a lot more sex lol) so its very likely all of this is going down in the next chap :)

- GRIAN. HE TRIED TO TALK TO YOU TWO CHAPTERS AGO AND YOU IGNORED HIM.

- Also like how when we circle back to this point at the end of the chapter- Mumbo brings it up, Mumbo apologises- Grian lies and goes through the conversation "on autopilot", forcing himself to register absolutely NONE of the emotion so that when he goes through with his plan he can have this degree of separation- (if that's what you call it?). Just like how right here he's ignoring/selectively forgetting the fact that Mumbo did try to talk to him

- I chose this one because of the "burning" metaphor. It creates this imagery of something akin to a wildfire when Grian's actions were first revealed. Emotions were blazing with fury, grief, confusion, horror and betrayal. It's all still there, but muted. For Mumbo specifically and how he initially reacted when G woke up the metaphor makes it feel like Mumbo completely burnt himself out with how he felt about everything. What's left behind in an ashen log, a carcass ready to collapse into dust at the next breeze.

- "Someone he can't save", meaning mumbo being unable to save grian, but dually meaning that Grian doesnt believe he can be saved- not by himself, not even by his best friend. He's tried, tried to stop making the games, tried to live off of MCC. It didn't work; he's stopped trying to save himself.

Grian's deeply unreliable narrator-ness makes me SO insane tbh, im so obsessed with how he very deliberately ignores things that dont fit into his personal narrative. Like ur objectively right Mumbo DID try to talk to him!!!!! But in Grian's head, that doesnt support his "i am doing this for everyone's greater good" agenda, so he dismisses it. Same as the gold farm-- Scar actually mentioned it to him all the way back in chapter 5, but when Mumbo asks if he knew, he insinuates that he wasnt told, without actually confirming or denying. Its a fun little tidbit that i enjoyed adding-- i really like highlighting just how unreliable Grian's perspective is rn wrt reality :]

I am SO happy you enjoyed that burning metaphor-- its definitely attached to that wildfire imagery, but its also attached to the concept of cooking for me too!!! The idea of letting something simmer down and thicken, except its burning, was very integral to that snippet ^.^

I have a couple of tips! Practice! I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I used to write reader inserts like constantly a few years back. When I'm not writing these, I'm working on my fantasy series and murder mystery novel.

My other tip, read. Reading helps a lot! I've always been a book nerd so reading different series helped me get a better understanding of how stories can flow, what I like about certain styles, what I didn’t like. If you're not a reader give audiobooks a chance.

As for writing smut, I think reading helped a lot with this. But then again I’m super sex positive! I listened to all the ASMR’s, read the smuttiest books, and roleplay with friends in college with our OC’s. Practice practice practice! It's hard to write at first, but then you get more comfortable as time passes.

I'm sorry glad you love the escort series! This Suguru one might be really interesting for you! The Reader is a writer so I plan to go into more details in there!

I know I've mentioned it before, but one of my absolutely all time favorite books is The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin and her approach to gender has really influenced my writing (both in On a Friday and in Make Way For Ducklings) ... also not to be TMI but I also have horses... I just have a gelding (castrated male horse) now but I used to also have a very slutty little mare that made her heat cycle everyones problem and I would constantly be yelling at her to leave her brother alone 😬

I'm very proud of my Top Gun work - I'm taking a little break from updating most of those fics because I was putting too much pressure on myself with them because of how many hits they were getting and making myself anxious about it which was not fun and not the vibe- BUT I am extremely proud of them! My recent Hockey RPF (Hurricane in particular) I am proud of as well and am still actively working on! The rest... Baby Ally was unmedicated and very unhinged, proceed with caution and read at your own risk - I like to think I have become a much better writer since a lot of that was published haha

So, I finished reading the final parts of biof days ago, but I needed time to properly mourn it... now that I went through all the stages of grief, I can just say how perfect everything was. I loved every single moment.. the family fluff, the smut, everytime aema was mentioned made me extremely emotional, every scene with helaena melted my heart (her calling Nyra mama 😭), jealous!Rhaenyra is always a delight to read, the whole milf mess (angry!Alicent is so hot) 🤣... I'm rambling, sorry. I'm not really good with words and giving people complements, so I'm just gonna quote lady gaga and say: "talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show-stoping, spectacular, never-the-same, totally unique, completely-not-ever-been done-before".

Okay, there's a couple of things I need to mention:

Currently I’m planning for chapter 8 to be out around mid-late august, and while I don’t know exactly when I’ll finish the oneshot I am trying to get that out before chapter 8, so I’d say you can expect it within the next 2-ish weeks(?) Idk, ik that’s super vague but I try not to give exact dates anymore bc i feel like every time i do i end up not meeting them 😅

I’m back and, AHHHHHH!!! 😭❤️ So much happened I can’t believe it! First off, he went to her house, not one but twice. I could just imagine how they both looked like when he brought her in the next morning 😅. Her mom was so sweet and welcoming with him, I’m sure he very much appreciated that type of maternal affection coming from her with insisting to take some scones and bread home. And the fact that when he felt overwhelmed and anxious, he went back to her place because he missed her and she brought him peace. 🥹 Ugh, both of them are so stubborn though, I love how we’re seeing them both go through the same emotions and thought process, like both wishing the other was pocket size so they can protect the other constantly from the world, and yet they’re the only ones who don’t see it from the other. She knows deep down that Reece isn’t the guy for her and Harry brings her a joy she hasn’t felt in a long time. But at least Harry knows he’s fucked and can admit she’s the first person, besides his grandmother, that accepts him for who he is and that he feels comfortable with. I feel for Harry, his family is so mean and he truly does feel alone and like an outsider. Poor grumpy, he just wants to be truly loved and accepted for who he is and not what his name can bring others. The haircut scene was so cute, and she’s “Been dying to get her hands on his hair!” 😏👀 I loved how she got so nervous to cut it because it’s Harry but he trusted her to do whatever felt right for her ❤️. And the head massage 👀 the boy was feeling it 😂. Ugh and don’t get me started on the towel scene, instantly reminded me of his Barcelona show a few nights ago, I get what she was feeling 🙈. Now you left us with big cliffhanger last chapter, but this one is HUGE!! 😱 THEY KISSED!! He kissed her, she wanted more, and he Left 😭. Nooo, and he told her they were friends 💔. This was such a good chapter and I’m so I’m love with this story, I honestly can’t wait for the next part. X

snow was falling outside. the landscape beyond the window was completely white, almost as if there was a sheet of empty paper being held up against the window. you couldn’t tell if the sun was beginning it’s descent or if it was just the snow clouds blocking the light.

you were wrapped up in blankets in front of the fireplace with your boyfriend, backs resting against the couch. you’d initially stopped by kaeya’s house to bring him some pastries that you made— but the weather worked against you. honestly it was a blessing in a way. you and kaeya had been extremely busy lately with the holidays coming up and hadn’t had much time together. when you noticed that the conditions were too bad to go back to work you got a little excited deep down. it was like the universe knew you were missing your time with him.

you had snatched one of kaeya’s hoodies from his closet. you loved wearing his hoodies— they all were extremely comfortable and also had his scent on them. despite the fact that he was literally right next to you his scent on the hoodie was calming.

your head was currently resting on kaeya’s shoulder, your bodies pressed up against each other. he had his arm snaked around your waist as a way to keep you close. he’d occasionally run his fingers up and down your waist while humming a soft melody that you couldn’t quite tell what it was.

the room you two were in was silent besides the crackling of the fireplace. most people hated silence.. but not you. not when you were with kaeya at least. the silence between you two was never awkward or heavy, it was— peaceful. it never felt like there was an elephant in the room. just you two silently enjoying each other’s company.

he came back with a book. not a normal sized chapter book— it was too big and thin for that. it was almost sized like a kid’s storybook. you didn’t understand what it was until he sat back down next to you, resting it in his lap. you saw the words “childhood photo album” written on the front.

“photo album?” you tilted your head slightly as you looked at kaeya. “i never really thought you’d be a photo album guy.”

“technically i’m not—“ he ran his hand over the cover. it seemed to be made out of leather. you could tell it was a little old by the wear on the seams. “—it was a christmas present i recurved when i was 16. i just decided to hold onto it.”

you mouthed a small “oh” as you watched him open the book. the first page was empty— just looked like a filler page. the second and third pages were filled with pictures though. they were all of kaeya, diluc, and crepus. most of the pictures on those pages seemed to be christmas pictures. a couple of them looked like christmas cards. the others were of them opening presents on christmas morning, playing in the snow, decorating the tree, and a lot more.

kaeya spent hours flipping through all of the pages with you. he explained every picture to you, giving all the details and context. quite a few of the pictures made you laugh. you teased him about how cute he was as a child.

you didn’t really say all that much though, you just let him talk. it wasn’t that you weren’t interested in it but you just didn’t want to interrupt— and kaeya knew that. he’d noticed that whenever he gets going on a topic about something you fall silent and just listen closely. he could tell you payed attention and actually cared just by the look on your face.

every now and then you’d look over at kaeya. at first glance he seemed very happy to be reliving some nostalgia— but as you looked closer you could tell it was saddening to him. at the flip of each page the pain in his eye got more and more visible. despite the way he was smiling… his eyes were betraying him.

once he got to the very last page you only saw one picture. it seemed like it was at a party— you could see streamers and happy birthday balloons in the background. it took you a moment to realize what it was. it was at diluc’s 18th birthday party, just hours before their father was killed. hours before kaeya confessed all of his guilt and was almost slain for it.

you noticed kaeya basically froze once that picture showed up. he seemed to be drifting off somewhere— probably remembering all the events from that night.

he had once told you everything that happened and exposed all his flaws. it happened while you were laying in bed one night. you had woken up randomly in the middle of the night to find kaeya still awake, sitting at the edge of the bed. when you crawled over to sit next to him you noticed he was crying. when you asked what was wrong everything just came pouring out. everything about khaenri'ah, everything about the night he was left at the winery, everything about the night crepus died, and everything that happened between him and diluc that night. he expected you to be pissed like his brother was, so he was extremely shocked when he felt your arms wrap around him. you quietly explained that you’d love him no matter what and wouldn’t let his dark past change your love for him.

“bub—“ you placed a hand on his shoulder. you felt him jump slightly, shaking his head and looking over at you. “you were drifting.”

“oh- i- sorry,” he cleared his throat slightly as he shot you a weak smile, putting that front back up.

you could tell that he was on the verge of tears— you knew that look better than anybody else.

“cmere,” you extended your arms, motioning for a hug. kaeya closed the book and set it on the floor next to him as he felt your arms wrap around him. he buried his head in your shoulder and just let the tears fall. you just rubbed small circles on his back and ran your fingers through his hair.

you two stayed like that for awhile. kaeya felt safe in your arms— like nothing from his past could ever haunt him while he was there. your arms were starting to get tired but you didn’t really care, you just wanted him to feel comfortable.

later that night you two crawled into his bed. you had changed out of what you previously had on and just threw on one of kaeya’s shirts.

that night he let you be the big spoon (kinda). he had his arms hugging your waist while his head rested against your chest— your legs all intertwined under the blankets. your fingers slowly raked through his hair again while whispering small “i love you”s until you both fell asleep.
