Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 3 15

I spent most of the first season complaining about Kang Dong Joo, a character who had to be hauled kicking and screaming to perform the basic functions of his job and who so desperately needed Kim Sabu’s approval that it was almost fun, in a sadistic kind of way, to see him almost never get it. I love YYS, always have, but I did not like Dong Joo at all! By the end he had grown on me, for sure, but if I were listing my favorite characters from the show, he probably wouldn’t make the top 3.

In contrast, I really liked Cha Eun Jae and Seo Woo Jin in season 2, especially Eun Jae. Her blossoming was so satisfying, even more so that Dong Joo’s in season 1, for me, because she was a lot less of an asshole about it!

So riddle me this: why is it that, when Dong Joo, Eun Jae, and Woo Jin share the screen together in this season, I instinctively take Dong Joo’s side against the other two and am deeply annoyed at them for standing up to him? I mean, a lot of it is the relentless character assassination that Eun Jae has suffered this season (she’s petulant, she’s whiny, she’s spineless, she’s childish, she’s everything she wasn’t by the end of last season. What a waste of good character development!). Part of it is that the boycott plotline was so mind-numbingly stupid that I feel like I’ll never be able to take Eun Jae seriously again. Is part of it that Kim Sabu was so mean to Dong Joo and so comparatively gentle with Eun Jae and Woo Jin that I feel Dong Joo has earned more respect? Maybe. Is part of it that there are very few actors with enough charisma to credibly go toe-to-toe with YYS? Alas, almost certainly. (And that’s what made his battles with Kim Sabu, the most charismatic man on the planet, so watchable in s1.)

It’s weird--this season hasn’t been particularly good (the decision to make a grieving mother with a genuine complaint against the hospital the mustache-twirling villain was WILD), to the extent that it kind of felt like an experiment--can entire seasons of a drama justify their existence on the strength of one performer? (the answer: shockingly, yes) And in that respect, Dong Joo’s arrival has provided a much-needed bolt of energy. But now that he’s here, I find myself unable or unwilling to accept that the current nominal lead students are, in fact, the leads. Once YYS is here, it feels only right that he should jump straight up to the 2nd place on the call sheet, and characters that to this point I liked (particularly Woo Jin, who’s had a pretty good season) become these irritating afterthoughts. 

Or maybe I’m overthinking it and I just am YYS’s fan and it really is as simple as that?

Kakashi actually can pull off a sexy costume whenever he wants to, especially ones with masks at least. But since he isn't as promiscuous or as arrogant as most good looking guys, he's quite humble and is very content with the full body costumes, his personal favorites are funny or costumes that contradict the theme.

Every rare moon, he would dress up in an extremely cool costume if he feels like showing off, but the most you'll get out of him would be the normal easy to put together costumes.

Also increasingly aware that a LOT of people "manage" getting through the 40+ hour work week by sleeping less than is healthy and relying on stimulants like coffee and energy drinks to keep them going.

For people who are unwilling or unable to do this...work really does just dominate your life. Like we really should not have to rely on unhealthy practices just to have a social life or keep on top of housework or whatever.

I know I post about this a lot but I'm so TIRED all the time and it's just so depressing that this is how we're expected to spend the one life we have.
