the crazy thing about the sages in totk and their connections to the champions in botw to me is this: if the events of totk had happened 100 years ago, the champions would have been the sages. they have the sages' powers passed down by blood, and their descendants use the same powers throughout the game. all of them are related to the sages--

except Revali.

he's just some guy!! all of the other champions have their powers because they're descendants of the sages. but Tulin is the sage of wind and to my knowledge he isn't related to Revali at all. revali is the only one that has no special powers, only his own skills. the fact that teba and tulin exist implies that the actual descendant of the sage of wind had to be present when the hylians came looking for a rito champion, and revali took that guy's job. Imagine having the power to literally control the wind but even w that you're just not fucking good enough to compete with Revali 'I have to be the best at everything or I'll go nuclear' of the Rito for the title of champion. if all of the champions had survived the calamity and were there to help Link in totk, they would all be the ones with the secret stones taking up the mantle of sage. except Revali, who would just be some guy still hanging around losing his mind bc for the second time in his life an actual child is being given a position that he thinks he's much better suited for. it's a good thing he didn't make it honestly I don't think he'd take it well.

Things I Loved About Fleabag (2016):

The careful balance of spiralling and sincerity that keeps you rooting for resolution and relief, despite the show intentionally framing itself around grief

The way that it is clear based on the way that they talk about her that Fleabag is a great deal like her mother (her off-colour jokes, her charisma, even hints of difficult friendships through the Godmother) but they don't have anyone make that comparison until the last episode of S2, with, "You are the way you are because of [your mother]" and the look of surprise on Fleabag's face when she hears it

"Don't make me an optimist; you will ruin my life," being such a telling line, because as you fall in love with the Priest, and Fleabag, you want to believe that things will work themselves out

The love in Claire's line to Fleabag, "The only person I'd run through an airport for is you," and the delightful contrary optimism of her deciding to go to the airport anyway

The revelation that Boo had offered to take Fleabag's love for her mother, intertwining both losses

The way that the Priest not only breaks through the carefully constructed narrative relationship that Fleabag has with the viewer, but also himself directly looks toward the audience on a separate beat as he tries to understand her more ("You don't like answering questions, do you?")

The entire sequence of the last few scenes, "Being a romantic takes a hell of a lot of hope," to "I love you." "It'll pass," to Fleabag walking around with a statue that is, in some ways now, a physical representation of the love she is carrying around. Because while the show is about grief, and love, it doesn't feel like it is asking you to overcome those things, but to learn to live with them while moving forward

been trying out a new writing technique recently and it's called chilling tf out and reminding myself that fic is written for fun.

Wip Wednesday ☔️

I know, I know, I've been slacking with the wips lately, but I'm finally back knee-deep in the mudslide fic, which has now passed 48k in the main file 🫡 — and yet at the same time, I am totally running out of snippets to post that aren't too spoilery smh

So here, have this tidbit from somewhere closer to the beginning:

One second everything was just like before; people hustling and bustling around, carrying the injured on backboards from one place to the other, sending the ever circulating line of ambulances on their way down the road — and the next second the ground was rumbling under their feet.

He should’ve known, he should’ve known, he should’ve—

The main road was directly in the way of the slide and Buck snapped his head towards it so fast, he almost gave himself whiplash.

He watched cars get turned inwards and disappear under the wave of muddy water running down from the top of the hill, erasing them as if they’ve never even been there. Buck just stood there, all the blood running out of his body as he watched the mud push debris, rocks and bits of walls and fences out of its way before blanketing most everything in its wake, all the way down to the bottom where the trucks were now almost fully enveloped, only the very top inches visible as the water thrashed them around and licked at the underside of the bridge like a starving beast.

Suddenly everything moved in slow motion and the world dulled around Buck as he looked from left to right, barely even registering the shouts of names and the crackling of radios coming from all directions, the color of the gear of the rescue workers was seemingly one with the wet dirt all around them.

But on his next inhale everything rushed back to him; all the movements, the sounds, the colors — all with a terrifying realization.

#the realisation is of course that buck doesn't know if eddie's safe and he's just about to worry himself sick lmao #48k in the main file actually means that I have over 50k written for this fic altogether #and it has me feeling very wobbly in the knees 🥺🥺 #imma go sleepy bye bye now but I'm so glad that I finally managed to get through the part I was stuck on #also I can't wait to get to the spicy part buts of this ehehe and I don't just mean smut #🤭 #buddie #911 #the mudslide fic #wip
