Pairing: Hufflepuff!Yunho x Hufflepuff!fem reader
Word count: 4,968
Note: Seems kinda silly sharing this one considering its March lol but when I was writing these Hogwarts AU imagines, they were being posted around November/December 2022 and I felt bad for not having anything festive written so I made this one take place around Christmastime to add some festive flair. Hopefully you guys can still enjoy it, even in March haha

"You need to dress warmly, Y/n. It's getting colder these days." Yunho tugged your scarf around your neck, making sure you were all bundled up.
You merely chuckled, amused at how much he cares for you.
"I'll be fine." You assured him.
"We have to walk all the way to the greenhouse for herbology. You should stay warm."
You gave him a reluctant smile, allowing him to adjust your scarf to where it would cover your chin.
"Okay." He gave a small nod of approval before linking arms with you. "Let's go. Don't wanna be late."
Leaving the warm corridors of the school, you stepped out into the chilly air. It was nearing the end of autumn and would soon be winter, though based on the bitter temperature outside it felt like the season had already arrived. You and your fellow housemate trekked across the school grounds, stepping over leaves that had long fallen off the trees, their color now a dull brown. The holidays were just around the corner and Hogwarts had rolled out the Christmas decorations, decking the entire school out in holiday cheer, the colorful array of twinkling ornaments and other baubles giving the castle a cozy feel. The Great Hall was the most beautiful with large Christmas trees throughout the room, holly and ribbons hanging along the ceiling, all topped off with white snow falling from above, the magical icy clusters not feeling cold at all.
The greenhouse came into view, you and Yunho hurrying over desperate to get inside and out of the chilly air.
"Good afternoon." Professor Sprout greeted you with her usual warm smile, her jovial personality shining through as always.
"Afternoon." You greeted, making your way further into the greenhouse, taking your place at the long table that stretched along the length of the greenhouse.
You and Yunho began unpacking your supplies, your fingers brushing against his by accident.
"Your hands are freezing." He commented, grabbing them with his larger ones.
A faint heat creeped onto your cheeks as he squeezed your icy palms between his, warming them a little. You were so focused on him, you didn't notice the other students filing in the greenhouse, preparing for class.
"Alright. Now that everyone's here let's get started." Professor Sprout spoke up, causing Yunho to release your hands.
You exchanged sheepish glances before the both of you turned your eyes away out of embarrassment.
"Since Christmas is approaching, I thought it would be fit for us to study mistletoe. As you all know, this parasitic plant is used for decoration, but you can also use it for antidotes for the forgetfulness potion and common poisons."
"Ha. Mistletoe." You chuckled softly. "How festive."
Professor Sprout proceeded to explain more facts about the plant, allowing everyone to examine the white berries on the herbage, cutting them open and grinding them for potions.
The greenhouse, though slightly warmer than the chilly outdoor air, didn't offer much heat for your cold fingertips. Suddenly you missed the warmth of Yunho's hands, wishing he could hold them one more time.
Professor Sprout filled the silence in the greenhouse by giving a brief history lesson on mistletoe, talking about how it was used as a holiday decoration in the 1700s, then she proceeded explain how wizards used it for potions, though at that point you started zoning out.
Her voice became mere background noise as your eyes lingered on Yunho, who was closely examining the leaves on his plant which was held between his slender fingers.
By some miracle, you managed to pull it together long enough to make it through class.
You rubbed your hands together on the trek back to the school, tugging your scarf up to cover your nose and shield it from the chilly gusts of wind that fiercely hit your cheeks.
Once back inside Hogwarts, you let the heat from the torches lining the hall to warm you up a little. Yunho noticed the way you rubbed your hands together, wiggling your fingers around a bit.
"Here." Yunho held his hands out to you palms up.
You placed your smaller hands in his and allowed him to warm them the best he could, though his fingers were pretty cold as well, but they were warmer than yours. Plus, you can't possibly pass up the opportunity to have his hands holding onto yours.
You chuckled softly at Yunho's appearance, noticing a tint of pink on the tip of his nose.
"What?" He asked amusedly.
"Your nose is pink."
"It's freezing too. Wanna feel it?" He teased, leaning in closely preparing to press his nose against your cheek. You were quick to pull away, laughing at him.
"Come on. Let's go to the dining hall and see if we can get some hot chocolate before our next class." He stated.
"That would be fantastic."
The both of you went straight to the Great Hall where thankfully you were able to get a hot beverage to warm you up, the drink doing wonders for you.
"This was a good call." You sighed contently, grateful that your friend had suggested the idea. "I needed something that would warm me up quickly."
He hummed in agreement, his face covered by the mug as he gulped down the chocolate beverage. Once he set the cup down, a small amount of whipped cream dotted the tip of his nose as well as his top lip, the sight making you giggle.
"What? Do I have something on my face?" He asked, knowing there was whipped topping on him.
"Come here." You beckoned, grabbing a napkin and cleaning his face.
Yunho's heart fluttered at your simple yet very effective actions. His eyes lingered on your face, taking in all your beautiful details, from your lashes to your soft-looking lips, his mind beginning to wander as he imagined what it would feel like to kiss them.
"Yunho?"
He blinked himself from his daze, humming in response.
"You zoned out. I asked if you were ready to go. We've got just enough time to get to class."
"Oh. Yeah I'm ready."
It was early morning, right around breakfast time and you were sat in front of the fireplace in the Hufflepuff common room with a letter in your hands and a heavy feeling in your chest.
The sound of feet shuffling along the floor above could be heard over the crackling fire before you, Yunho's voice following after.
"Oh, you got something from your parents?" He observed.
"Yeah." You sighed as he descended the stairs, taking a seat beside you.
"Must've been important if it was delivered straight to the dormitory."
"It was."
Based on your discouraged tone and small frown, whatever news you got wasn't good.
"What's wrong?"
"It's a letter from my parents. They work for the Ministry of Magic so they're really busy and it seems they're not going to be home much. Looks like I'm going to be staying here for Christmas."
Yunho frowned. He hated seeing you upset, even more so he hated that you would be stuck at Hogwarts over Christmas break instead of spending it with your family.
"Come here." He beckoned softly, pulling you into a hug, which you happily accepted.
His hugs were always the best. He was bigger than you, so being in his embrace always felt nice, warm, even safe. You've always joked that his hugs were magical because they always seemed to melt your problems away whenever you were upset about something.
Yunho rubbed your back soothingly, allowing you to stay in his arms for as long as you needed.
If you were forced to stay at Hogwarts over Christmas break, he would stay with you.
Or maybe...
He let out a sudden gasp as a lightbulb went off in his head, making him pull back.
"Why don't you spend Christmas with me and my family?"
You took in a quick breath at his sudden proposition, looking at him with a shocked expression. At your response, or lack thereof, Yunho continued.
"You can send an owl back to your parents and let them know you're going to spend Christmas with me."
You continued to sit there, your mind processing everything.
Spending Christmas with Yunho?
The idea sounded great, honestly. You'd be able to spend the entire break with your crush. What more could you ask for?
Judging by the hopeful expression on his face and the expectant gleam in his eyes, he really wanted you to accept his offer, so you did.
When Christmas break rolled around, you found yourself boarding the Hogwarts Express with Yunho and a suitcase of clothes and other necessities for your visit.
The both of you made your way into one of the roomettes, sliding the door closed behind you before moving to sit on one of the benches.
"Sit next to me, Y/n." Yunho patted the spot next to him.
Softly smiling, you moved across to Yunho's bench, seating yourself beside him.
"I haven't seen your parents in years." You commented.
"I'm sure they're excited to see you, especially mom. She asks about you a lot."
"She does?"
He nodded.
The train departed from the station a few minutes later, rolling into motion. You watched as the school got smaller and smaller the further away you got. Your heart started to beat a little faster at the thought of being with Yunho for two weeks at his home.
The snack trolley rolled by not too long into the ride making the Hufflepuff beside you perk up, an excited gasp leaving him.
"Y/n, do you want something?" He asked.
"Yes, please."
Yunho asked the lady pushing the cart for your favorite candy along with some of his favorites before she went on to the next roomette. It didn't take long at all for the both of you to tear into the sweets, enjoying them as you watched the trees and valleys pass by.
An hour into the train ride, you felt your eyelids begin to droop as a feeling of drowsiness slowly washed over you. Not wanting to fall asleep, you turned your attention to the view out the window and started watching the scenery, a vast field with mountains in the distance, each one a different size. Unfortunately, that didn't do any good and you ended up allowing yourself to rest your eyes for a moment, which of course resulted in you falling asleep.
Yunho's gaze was glued to the landscape outside when he felt a weight on his shoulder. Upon glancing over, he found you sound asleep, your body slumped over on him, head resting on his shoulder.
A soft smile of adoration tugged at his lips as he allowed his gaze to linger on you for a few moments, taking in your features up close. It was only when you stirred slightly that he averted his gaze back to the view outside, his cheeks slightly warm.
When he didn’t feel you move, he peeked over at you once more as soft breaths pushed past your slightly parted lips.
"Y/n. We're here."
You squeezed your eyes shut tighter, nuzzling your face into whatever you were resting on.
A deep chuckle sounded afterwards making you peel your eyes open.
Yunho was gazing down at you, eyes gleaming with amusement. It was then that you realized you'd fallen asleep on him, your head resting on his chest. This realization caused you to push yourself off him in a rush.
He only laughed, standing up from his seat.
"I'm sorry." You apologized.
"You seemed to be sleeping well, so I didn't wake you." He responded, offering you his hand. "Come on."
After a short taxi ride, you arrived at your destination, welcomed by strings of beautiful multicolored lights strung along the eaves of the house, the sight giving you a warm feeling in your chest.
You stepped into Yunho's cozy abode, the warmth from inside brushing against your cool cheeks, the smell of gingerbread and cinnamon reaching your senses.
"Come in, come in." Yunho's mom beckoned, ushering both of you inside. "It's freezing out."
Christmas music played softly throughout the home as you removed your scarf, your eyes roaming the house, taking in your surroundings. The feeling of someone tugging on your coat grabbed your attention, it was Yunho. You thanked him quietly, shrugging off the thick jacket and allowing him to hang it on the coat rack by the door.
"My Yunho, come here." His mom cooed, pulling him into a tight hug. "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too, mom."
After pulling away, she turned to you with a warm smile. "Y/n."
"Hello." You greeted.
"I haven't seen you since you and Yunho were in fourth year." She gushed. "You've grown into such a beautiful young lady."
You muttered a shy thank you before she escorted the both of you into the living room, going on about how excited she was that you'd be joining them during Christmas break and how she had prepared snacks for your arrival. Sitting on the coffee table in the living room was a plate of small sandwiches, crackers, and sliced fruit along with two glasses of water.
"Sorry. She gets enthusiastic when we have guests." Yunho murmured, cheeks tinged pink.
"It's fine. It's actually really nice. I missed her hospitality."
Just then, the front door swung open and Yunho's father walked in, shrugging off his jacket.
"Are they here yet?" He inquired before glancing into the living room where you and Yunho were seated on the couch. "Ah. I missed the welcome party."
"We just got in." Yunho informed him. "You didn't miss much."
"Good, good." His father nodded, making his way over to greet both of you, asking how classes were and how you'd been—just the usual small talk. He then grabbed one of the tiny sandwiches Yunho's mom had made.
At that moment, she entered the room and caught him in the act, immediately scolding him.
"Those are for Y/n and Yunho."
"Alright. Sorry." He chuckled, heading towards the kitchen.
"Y/n, why don't I take your bags to your room?" Yunho's mom offered.
"Oh, you don't have to do that."
"No, no, I insist. You're our guest."
You didn't have time to protest as she grabbed your bag as well as Yunho's and left the room.
After resting for a moment and finishing the finger foods that were prepared, Yunho's mom offered to show you where you'd be sleeping during your visit. Yunho wanted to unpack his things, so he got up and followed you and his mom down the hall, not expecting her to come to a stop at his bedroom.
"You'll have to share with Yunho. I hope you don't mind." She mentioned, opening the bedroom door. "Don't worry, though. I've set up a mattress on the floor so everything should be fine."
"I thought we had a spare bedroom." Yunho spoke up hastily.
"Oh, I've been using it as a storage room."
Yunho's face got hot at the thought of sharing a room with you, but at the same time it was a dream come true. Back at Hogwarts the boys and girls dorms are separated; the girls' dormitory is charmed so no boys can enter, though it's not the same for the boys' dorm, which is odd—but you've never stayed overnight with him before, even at school, so this would be a whole new experience.
Your palms started to get a bit sweaty as you took in the information you were just given, your slightly wide eyes staring at the sight before you. Alongside Yunho's bed was a small, inflatable mattress with a few blankets and pillows on it. While it did look comfortable, it was directly beside the place where Yunho slept. Judging by the giddiness in his mom's voice, she was more than okay with the both of you sharing a room.
"Well, I'll let you two get settled." She spoke up and excused herself.
As soon as she was out of the room, Yunho's head dropped as he let out a sigh.
"I'm sorry."
"It's fine." You waved him off.
You and Yunho have been friends for years, sharing a room shouldn't be weird... it only feels that way because of your feelings for him.
"I'm gonna unpack. You can make yourself comfortable."
Yunho moved across the room to his bed where his suitcase laid, unzipping the beg before removing items from it. You started to do the same, taking a seat on the blow up mattress in the floor, taking out your toiletry bag.
"You can put that in the bathroom across the hall." Yunho mentioned. "As for clothes, you can leave them in your suitcase or I can clean out a drawer for you to store them in."
"It's fine. I can just leave them in here." You responded, not wanting Yunho to go to the extra trouble.
Once settled, the both of you were called into the kitchen to have dinner, which smelled so good. It had been a while since you had a home-cooked meal. Though, Hogwarts had exceptional food, there's something different about having something made at home.
"You really went all out." You commented, your mouth watering at the spread before you.
"Of course. It's Christmas, plus we have a special guest. It's the least I could do." Yunho's mom smiled warmly, pouring everyone a drink.
After a nice meal, you spent the rest of the afternoon watching TV with Yunho and his parents. Turns out they found amusement in muggle television programs and enjoyed watching them. You unexpectedly got hooked on a particular show, the ups and downs of the plot pulling you in immediately.
After watching a few episodes, you and Yunho decided to get ready for bed and settle in for the night.
You watched in mild amusement as Yunho arranged his pillows in a particular order, one lying flat in the middle and one propped up on the bed frame on either side. A chuckle slipped from you by accident causing the tall boy to turn, eyeing you.
"Sorry." You apologized. "I didn't know you had a system going."
"I do. My bed fits me well so I arrange my pillows like this, but in beds that are shorter where my feet stick out, I arrange them like this." He began shuffling the pillows around, moving the ones that were resting on the bed frame flat on the mattress lying vertically, giving him somewhat of a barrier on either side of his main pillow.
"I have to do this at Hogwarts since the beds are smaller." He mentioned.
It may be silly, but his specific pillow arrangements were extremely endearing to you. The way he had a whole system figured out based on the size of the bed was too cute.
He didn't seem to notice your love-filled gaze as he fluffed his main pillow, shimmying underneath the covers.
"Are you settled in?" He asked.
"Mhm." You hummed.
Yunho raised his wand in the air, using it to turn the lights out before snuggling down into his bed.
"Goodnight, Y/n."
"Goodnight, Yunho."
Getting to sleep proved to be a bit harder than you had originally thought. You were hyperaware of Yunho sleeping so close to you and that prevented you from getting relaxed enough to rest.
It's not a big deal, Y/n. You told yourself. Yunho is your best friend. You've known him for years. There's no reason to be nervous.
Minutes passed and you tried different positions, lying on your back, your left side, then your right side. Nothing was working.
Movement on the bed caught your attention as Yunho's head popped up, peeking down at you.
"If you're not comfortable, we can switch spots." He offered. "If it's me you're uncomfortable with I can sleep on the couch and you can have my bed."
The thought of sleeping in Yunho's bed under sheets that probably smelled like him drove you crazy, but the inflatable mattress was just fine, plus you didn't want to take Yunho's bed from him.
"I'm good." You assured him.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. This is fine."
"Well, the offer is still there if you change your mind."
You murmured a thank you before rolling over, finally getting comfortable enough to go to sleep.
You woke up the next morning to Yunho shaking you awake.
"What is it?" You groaned.
"Get up. Hurry!" He pulled you to your feet, your knees nearly buckling, not used to all the sudden movement right after waking up.
Yunho wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you downstairs to the living room window.
"Check it out." Yunho gawked as he gazed out the glass pane.
"Wow." You gaped at the amount of snow that had blanketed the front lawn, the sight instantly waking you up.
"Oh, how pretty." Yunho's mom marveled. "You two should go outside and enjoy it."
The both of you exchanged glances, but before either of you could speak, Yunho's mom did.
"Go on." She gently ushered the both of you towards your room, telling you to bundle up. "I'll start on breakfast and you two go have some fun."
You had no choice but to do as she asked, going right back to Yunho's room.
"I'm so glad I packed warm clothes." You commented, pulling out a sweater and thick pants.
After layering up and putting on your coat and house scarf, you stepped outside hearing the many inches of snow crunch beneath your boots.
"That's one way to wake you up in the mornings." Yunho chuckled, his breaths coming out in puffs due to the frigid air.
"That's for sure." You shivered slightly, the icy weather flushing out the last remnants of sleep from your body.
"Come on." Yunho's gloved hand grabbed yours, tugging you out into the yard. "We should build a snowman."
"With all this snow, we could built three snowmen."
Yunho retrieved his wand from the inside of his jacket with a smirk. "You wanna try it?"
A knowing grin spread across your face as you pulled out your wand. "Let's do it."
With a simple locomotion charm, the both of you had large spheres of snow rolling across the lawn, getting bigger and bigger.
"Bring that one over here." Yunho pointed. "We'll use that for the base."
You nodded, moving your snowball to its designated spot as Yunho stacked his on top, using his wand to place the last and smallest sphere on top. In no time, you had three perfect snowmen built in front of the house.
Using your wands, the both of you gathered sticks and rocks to use for the arms and face for each snowman, placing them accordingly.
"These looks great." You beamed. "It's been  so long since I've done this. I feel like a kid again."
"Me too." He huffed out a laugh. "You think breakfast is ready?"
"I hope so. I'm starving."
"Come on." Yunho held out his hand. "Let's go."
Later that night, the air inside the house was cooler than normal thanks to the piles of snow outside. The double layer of blankets wasn't doing much to keep you warm, no matter how much you curled up or how high they were bunched around your neck.
"Are you cold?" Yunho asked.
You assumed he was asleep, so his voice startled you a bit.
"Just a little." You responded.
"Would you like to sleep up here? It's warmer when you're not close to the floor."
"I don't know. You've got that pillow fort up there, I don't think there's any room for me." You teased.
"I can always make room."
You were so desperate to get warm and Yunho's offer was very appealing, so you agreed.
Yunho shuffled around, adjusting his pillows as you got up off the inflatable mattress and joined him in the bed, which was noticeably warmer than your makeshift one on the floor.
You let out a content sigh, tugging the covers up over you.
"Better?" Yunho asked.
"Much."
At this point, the fact that you were sharing a bed with Yunho didn't phase you, in fact, it was the last thing on your mind. You were just grateful to be warm. Yunho shuffled a bit, giving you some extra space before rolling onto his side, his back facing you.
"This is so much nicer than that air mattress." You commented blissfully.
"I imagine it is."
"You don't have to be so far away." You told him, noticing the distance between the both of you.
"I just wanna make sure you're comfortable."
"I am. Come on." You tugged at the back of his pajama top, making him scoot towards you.
He kept his back facing you, too nervous to turn around. Yunho felt bad that you were cold and simply wanted to help out, but now that you were right beside him, things were starting to sink in.
"Goodnight." You murmured sleepily.
"Goodnight."
It was only when he was sure you were asleep that he turned around. Your cheek was squished against the pillow as small snores moved past your parted lips. His hand reached out towards your face, his slender fingers barely ghosting over your cheek. Yunho found himself unconsciously moving forward, his gaze focused on your lips. Before he could get too close, he came to his senses and pulled away, choosing to go to sleep.
It was finally Christmas Eve and things were in full swing at the Jeong household. Yunho's dad has just placed extra logs in the fireplace while his mom laid out all the sweet treats she had baked, going on about playing some board games later. Presents had been wrapped and placed neatly underneath the tree, each present with a different decorative wrapping.
"There's supposed to be some muggle
Christmas specials on tonight." Yunho's dad mentioned. "We should watch some."
"That'll be fun." You agreed.
"Oh, darn." You heard Yunho's mom mutter.
"Is everything okay?" You inquired, poking your head into the kitchen.
"I'm out of eggs." She glanced at the clock on the wall. "The store closes in half an hour. I need to go."
You and Yunho watched from the living room doorway as she hurriedly slipped on her coat, calling for his dad to come with her.
"You two will be alright staying here by yourselves for a little while, right?"
You both nodded.
With that, she pulled out her wand, both she and Yunho's dad apparating in the blink of an eye.
"I can't wait to get my apparition license." You commented.
"Me too. It'll be so convenient." Yunho agreed.
Letting out a sigh, you turned to face him.
"So, what should we do?"
Your question went unheard and unanswered by Yunho who was more occupied with something above you.
"Ah." Yunho glanced up with rosy cheeks.
Following his gaze, you spotted a small bundle of mistletoe hanging from the top of the doorframe, sucking in a deep breath at the sight.
"I'm sorry." He muttered embarrassedly. "My mom must've put that there."
The tips of his ears were a deep shade of pink while his cheeks were almost matching.
"It's okay." You shrugged it off, acting as if it wasn't a big deal to help Yunho feel a little more at ease even though you were internally freaking out just like he was.
Pulling your bottom lip between your teeth, you weighed your options. Either you could walk away and pretend this didn't happen, noting to avoid the mistletoe for the rest of your visit, or you could try and kiss Yunho and see what happens.
Before you could make a decision, he started to lean in closer, your breath catching in your throat.
Yunho's lips met yours, pressing softly as if to test the waters. Though there wasn't much force or pressure to the kiss, you could feel the pliant softness of his lips as they dragged slowly against yours before he pulled away, the lack of contact leaving you wanting more. Without hesitation, you leaned forward, reconnecting your lips. The action clearly caught Yunho off guard but he was quick to respond, his arms sliding around your waist pulling you into his broad chest.
Your mind clouded over immediately, the feeling of his mouth on yours was almost too much to handle, but still you wanted more.
You got your wish, because it was at that moment Yunho stepped forward, pressing your back against the frame of the walkway as he began kissing you more feverishly.
Your fingers found purchase in his dark tresses, tugging at his hair. He let out a grunt in response, pressing closer to you.
"Yunho." You murmured against his lips.
He pulled away for a moment, gazing drunkenly at you with half-lidded eyes.
"I like you a lot." You confessed breathlessly. "I have for along time."
"Me too." He sighed, leaning in to capture your lips with his once again.
Your leg wrapped around his torso, your fingers grabbing at the fabric of his sweater.
Yunho pulled away again, making you frown slightly at the loss of contact.
"You're so pretty." He stroked your cheek.
Your eyelids fluttered closed as you sighed out his name.
"I'm not sure how long your mom will be gone, maybe we should go somewhere else." You suggested.
"Say no more." Yunho began tugging you along through the living room and down the hallway to his bedroom.
The both of you collapsed onto his bed with a grunt.
"I think this was my mom's plan all along." He admitted.
"Me too. Maybe we should thank her." You chuckled.
"Maybe we should." He grinned, diving in for another breathtaking kiss.

Mondays are usually good days for you.
Though the week starts on Sundays, for you, they truthfully get going on Mondays. Mondays are when classes and work are back in full swing and when you make a list of everything you need to do for the week. When you are energized to clean your room, and when Mick comes home from races.
This Monday, though, you wake up with a cough, a runny nose, and your head pounding. It’s terrible. It doesn’t take you long to realize that it’s the flu and it’s not going away in time for you to get to work and classes, so you text your supervisor and send an e-mail to your professor, leaving your cell phone back on the nightstand and trying to sleep it off at least a little bit.
It gets worse after five minutes. Your whole body is aching and you wanna cry from stress because why couldn’t it happen any other day? Why today? You shrug the covers off, get Angie some food, get your water bottle, and some painkillers, and go back to bed. This time, the wiggly dog lies on your feet, as if she sensed something was wrong.
That was the first signal for Mick. Every Monday when he comes back from wherever he was in the world, Angie is at the door eager to greet him, but this time the apartment holds a weird silence, and there’s no signal of his dog. You also hadn’t answered his messages earlier this morning, something you would always do because, by the time he got home, you were up and running with your things.
He takes off his shoes, leaves his luggage by the entrance, and makes the short trek to your shared bedroom, a million thoughts going through his head. All of them dissipating when he opens the door and sees your sleeping form along with Angie lying on the bed. His shoulders drop in relief, only to go up again when your body moves on the bed, a nasty cough scratching your throat and making you whimper in pain.
Mick is by your side in a heartbeat.
Angie watched everything attentively as if knowing that he would talk to her soon, that right now her mom needed dad more.
You sit up reaching for the water, and finally notice Mick by your side.
“Babe,” you start but the coughing fits interrupt.
The blonde by your side passes your water bottle while rubbing your back, a worried look on his graceful features, “Why didn’t you tell me you were sick, Schatzi?”
And though there’s no judgment on his tone, you feel like crying, particularly because you’re sick, but also because you feel emotional. Of course, you know that Mick would always take care of you, but going through it was a completely different story, “It started earlier this morning,” you explain, taking a sip of your water again.
“Did you call your boss and your professor? Want me to do it?”
You nodded, then shook your head, “I already did, thanks though.”
“Have you eaten?”
And this time your eyes go to the ground. You know he’s about to huff a worried reply, but you’re too tired to try and explain, so you just lie back and watch as Mick kisses your forehead and starts changing his clothes, putting on his grey sweatpants and white shirt while telling you that you’re burning and he’s going to call the drugstore down the block to drop off some meds.
You hum in agreement. He pets Angie, leaving a kiss on her waiting head, but when he leaves she doesn’t follow, staying planted on the bed with you.
“Angie, sweet angel, you can go with Dad, I know you missed him,” you talk as if she would understand. Angie wiggles her tail, gets up from the bottom of the bed, and lies with her head on your belly.
You smile, caressing her fur, and it's not long before you’re falling asleep again.
You wake up minutes later, with Mick telling you to open your mouth while he’s scooping some kind of medicine in a spoon. You protest but drink it anyway, making faces at how sour it tastes.
“How are you feeling?” he asks.
“Terrible, I can’t breathe through my nose, and I’m cold, but I’m also burning.”
His fingers brush on your cheek, “Yeah, you have a fever, but I just gave you something to get the fever down. I’ll keep putting cold compresses on your forehead, but you can keep napping, okay?”
His soft tone makes your lips turn into a pout, some tears gathering in the corner of your eyes, “Baby, you’re gonna get sick too, no. I can take care of mys–”
Mick shakes his head, “I’m your boyfriend, I’m taking care of you. And besides, I’m an athlete, I won’t get sick that easily.”
Mick could very well be stubborn when he wanted to, and you couldn’t help but roll your eyes, sighing, “At least put on a mask.”
“Can I get a kiss first?”
You turn your head to him so fast you almost get whiplash, your brows are furrowed and your lips parted, “Are you out of your mind, Schumacher?”
He gifts you with a belly laugh, throwing his head back and showing you the milky skin of his neck. You so wanted to kiss it. And his pink plush lips too. But you couldn’t, and you told him this much.
“Yeah, I was messing with you, princess.”
You huff.
“Now, get comfortable, I’m gonna grab my mask. Your soup is almost ready,” he says, standing up from his sitting position on the bed.
“I’m not hungry,” you whine, lying down and bringing Angie close to you, snuggling on her soft fur.
“You gotta eat to get better soon, Schatzi.”
You mumble something not even you can understand, and Mick chuckles, walking back to the bed and sitting beside you. He brushes your cheek and holds your jaw, holding your eyes to his. You’re sick, you’re tired, and you have a headache pounding on your head nonstop, and a nasty running nose, but those blue orbs staring at you sure made your body tremble, all warm and fuzzy. His head dips and he takes the covers from your legs, just enough so his lips can find your naked thighs. He kisses there, and then your belly, and the inside of your wrist. There’s nothing sexual about it, he’s just kissing what he knows you would classify as a safe spot, far from your coughs, and snout.
Mick misses you though you are in front of each other right now.
And you miss him just as much.
“We went a week away, you really wanna make it more than it needs to be?”
You open your mouth, but then just drop your demeanor, shaking your head.
“Good, because I miss snuggling with you and kissing you, and we won’t be able to do it while you’re sick, right?” You nod. “I wouldn’t mind getting sick for you though.”
“Nope,” you pop the p. “Not happening. You’re sleeping in the guest bedroom until I get better.”
“Then you’re eating and taking all the meds I bring,” there’s a determination in his tone, and you can’t help but nod. “We have a deal?”
You nod reluctantly and shake hands with him. There’s a winning smile on his face, “good, I’m bringing the compresses and the soup.”

There was a tight feeling in your chest as you placed the last box up into the wagon the boys had. You had packed up all the small things you had in the room you shared with your sister. All your skirts and shirts were packed. Even if you had left the bed there, you knew in the end you were just going to share with one of the boys. It had been their idea anyway.
“Is that the last of it?” San asked you, rearranging the boxes like tetris on the wagon.
“Should be.” You smiled up at him.
“You have a lot of junk.” Wooyoung pursed his lips, scooting things over as he tried to make himself comfortable at the front.
“Me!?” You gasped, looking at him incredulously. “These are all your things! I only have two boxes.” You gestured to your things.
“We should really do some spring cleaning.” Yunho came up next to you, hands on his hips as he looked over their things.
“We'll get rid of things when we reach Aurora.” Jongho explained, bringing their horses closer. “We have to make room for you anyways in the house.” He told you.
“You guys have a house?” You raised your brows, making them laugh.
“You didn’t think we lived in the forest, did you? We aren’t homeless.” Seonghwa laughed.
“It's been our home for a while now.” Yeosang came up behind you, placing a hand on the small of your back. “I'm sure you'll love it.”
“I'm so excited to be going home! I can't wait for you to meet everyone.” Wooyoung told you.
“We are close to finishing our mission.” Hongjoong stated. “After that we can go home and rest. We have a long ride ahead of us.” He said.
You sighed deeply, turning around to find all your family waiting on the porch to speak with you. The tightening feeling only heightened when you saw them all with small smiles on their faces. Tears pooled at your mother’s eyes, your dad had his jaw clenched to keep from crying. Your little brother was none the wiser, happily skipping over to the boys to talk with them and pet the horses.
You laughed as he passed and gave you a quick hug. Turning back to your family, you began your trek back up to the porch, moving closer to your family.
“We were worried you would take off before even coming to see us.” Your dad said, reaching an arm out to give you a hug.
“Never.” You said. “I promise I'll try my best to come and visit. It's hard to let you guys go so easily.” You added, pulling away.
“You have a life to start.” You mom smiled through her tears. “We'll understand if you can't come down sometimes.”
You looked over at your siblings, moving to give your brother a hug before turning to your sister.
“Please write to me.” She sniffled, nuzzling her head into your shoulder. “I know you're much older but there are some things I can't talk about with the boys.” She pulled back, watching you through teary eyes.
“Same here.” You sniffled, patting her head. “I love you.” You whispered, tears finally falling.
“I love you too.” She smiled. “Thank you for being my sister.”
“As much as we always talked about you staying at the hotel forever and joking that you'd never leave, I'm not prepared for this.” Your father spoke to you as you turned to give your parents your attention.
“I don't think anyone ever is.” Your mom said.
“I know I'm not.” You laughed through your tears.
“But this is what you want.” Your mom reached out to grab your hands. “What you need. This is something that is part of your story.” She explained.
“It's a journey that everyone goes through.” Your dad told you.
“You just got lucky you didn't have to leave.” You snorted.
“I didn't, but your mother did.” He added, looking down at his wife.
“And I wouldn't change it for the world.” She smiled up at him. “Please take care. You mean so much to us.” She added, turning back to you.
“We're ready.” Yeosang came up behind you, wrapping an arm around your waist.
“Take care, boys.” Your dad spoke up, watching as all 8 of them came up behind you.
“Always.” Mingi smiled.
“And take care of our (Y/N).” Your mother added, looking at all of them with a pointed look.
“Our first priority.” Hongjoong answered. “She means a lot more to us than you could ever know. She's one of us now. No harm will ever come to her–not on our watch.” He smiled brightly.
“Lucky her to have so many of you. Stay safe on your trip. Please come and visit when you can.” Your mother reached out to give them all hugs.
“Of course.” Seonghwa smiled politely.
You gave last hugs to all your family, trying not to wipe your nose on their clothing. When you finished giving your little brother one last tight hug, you went to follow the boys, climbing onto the driver seats of the wagon with San. When the wheels began to turn, a sob left your throat smile shining on your face as you watched your family move behind you.
“Bye!” Your little brother and sister yelled, chasing after the wagon. “We love you!” They screamed, waving enthusiastically.
“Bye!” You laughed, waving just as excitedly.
As you took in a deep sigh, you turned in your seat, looking over to see San giving you his arm in comfort. You looped your own through his, laying your head on his shoulder as you wiped at your tears.
“This is it.” You said, looking around at the town that you were leaving.
You saw the hotel coming closer, the window where you had first met the boys passing by. You smiled, thinking about the last few months you had.
“A start to your journey.” Seonghwa spoke up, trotting next to the wagon on his horse.
“It's gonna be dangerous, Doll.” Mingi said, coming up on the other side.
You thought about the day you had officially met Mingi, the time when you had saved that girl from an aggressor. You would have never imagined what kind of adventure you were going to be getting into the day you had met them all.
“But I have you guys.” You smiled at him.
“And we get to have you all to ourselves!” Wooyoung laughed, leaning over to kiss your cheek as he sat on all the supplies the group had.
You never would have guessed this was where life would take you after giving a room to two cops who had entered the hotel. Never would have thought that by helping injured men would intertwine you with them. It was far from what you were thinking for yourself. But this was the adventure you were waiting for. The need that would spark your passion to help others.
The joy that it would bring you to spend time with 8 men who were ready to give you everything. The people you needed in your life.

Live A Little | A Worth It AU | Ralph Penbury x You | Masterlist
In This Edition: You spend time on solid ground and in hot water! Words: 3.3k
Tumblr media
Uncle Albert's car lurches to a stop in front of what can only be described as a mansion, and the driver jumps out with an umbrella. You don't see the point. You're already soaked to the bone. But Victoria clambers out, and he takes her to the door. The rest of you follow in the rain, rather than wait for him to return.
A host of servants scurry toward you with towels when you step inside.
"Is anyone hungry? Can I get you anything?" Uncle Albert asks, dripping on his own floor. Everyone declines. "Right! I suspect you've all had enough excitement for one night. It's after midnight, after all. How about I get you all into some dry clothes, and we'll put off the catching up until breakfast?" Without waiting for an answer, he continues, "Moira, please show each of our guests to a room, and ensure that all of their needs are met."
"Yes, sir," a woman in a uniform says with a curtsy. "If you'll all follow me, please?" You all trudge up the stairs behind her. Your soggy clothes weigh you down, making it seem like an endless trek.
"Mister Ralph and Miss Victoria, we've readied your bedrooms from your last visit," Moira says when you finally reach the second floor. Victoria takes off before she even finishes her sentence, but Ralph stays with you. "Ladies, your rooms are being prepared as we speak, and suitable sleepwear is on the way."
"We're married," Ralph says.
"Sir?"
"We're married," Ralph repeats, sliding his sopping arm around your shoulders possessively. "This one stays with me."
"Understood, sir," she smiles.
You look up at your soggy husband with adoration.
"Come on," Ralph says, starting to pull you down the hallway.
You look back at Molly, still standing with Moira.
"Go on, honey, get out of those wet clothes before you catch a chill. I'll see you in the morning."
You let Ralph lead you into a magnificent bedroom, where a fire crackles away. Ralph's pajamas are folded on the bed, and a maid arrives with yours seconds later.
Ralph closes the door, and you start stripping out of your wet clothes immediately. Ralph climbs into a pair of striped pajamas, and you slip a long gown over your head. It doesn't provide much warmth. You cross your arms and shiver. Ralph darts to the wardrobe and pulls out a robe, hurrying over to wrap you in it.
"Come," he says, leading you to the fireplace. You stand in front of the heat and lean against him. Eventually, you stop shivering.
A knock echoes through the room.
"Yes?" Ralph calls.
Moira brings in a tea tray.
"Thought you might like to warm up with a cup of tea before bed. Can I get you anything else?"
"No, thank you."
She gathers your wet clothes and leaves. You wrap your arms around Ralph's waist and rest your head against his shoulder.
"Tea?" he asks.
You shake your head.
"Just a little bit, to warm you up inside?"
"Alright," you agree. You know better than to argue with an Englishman about tea.
He pours and brings your cups to the fire, and you drink half of yours.
"Bed?" he offers, when you set your cup on the mantel.
You nod, eyelids getting heavy.
"Come on," he chuckles, downing the rest of his own tea in one gulp and leading you to the bed. He pulls back the covers, gestures for you to go first, and you crawl into the biggest bed you've ever been in.
"Ralph, this bed is so massive, I fear I may lose you in it."
"Never fear, my dear," he whispers, scooting closer and holding you tight. "Your Ralph is here."
You chuckle and melt into him.
"I love you," you mumble, already drifting off in the comfortable bed with the clean blankets and your warm husband.
"I love you too, darling."
The morning comes too soon.
You've both been awake for a while, and would be perfectly happy to just lie in your warm bed and enjoy each other's company all day.
Moira has other ideas.
"Good morning! I've brought you both some fresh clothes to change into!" She hangs them off the back of a chair. "Brunch will be served at 12:00. You have time for a bath, if you'd like!"
She leaves, and you both sigh.
"A bath does sound nice," you admit.
"Hm," Ralph hums, lifting his head to look at the clock. "I don't think we both have time."
"That's alright," you smile. "You go ahead."
"Nonsense," Ralph scoffs. "We'll save time by bathing together, of course."
"Brilliant idea, Mr. Penbury," you laugh. "I'm ashamed I didn't think of it myself."
"Quite alright, darling," he assures you with a pat to your hand. "We are new at this, you know."
You laugh again and get out of bed, following Ralph into the nearest bathroom. The water is already running, and has half-filled the claw-footed tub. Moira must've known Ralph wouldn't be able to resist.
You slip your gown off, and Ralph drops his pajamas on the floor. He turns off the water and steps into the tub, sitting down and holding out his hand for you. You take it and step over the side. You sink down into the warm water, sitting between Ralph's legs and leaning your head against his chest.
You both sigh happily when you're settled. You close your eyes, enjoying the warmth seeping into your bones as you wait for the water to still. It's the best you've felt in days.
"I don't think I'll ever get in water deeper than this again," Ralph mourns.
"We can have lots of fun in water this deep," you tease. You reach up to place a water droplet on his nose with your wet finger.
"Oh?" he asks, leaning down to nibble your ear.
"Most definitely," you assure him, sitting up to look him in the eye. "But not today, Mr. Penbury. There simply isn't time." You reach out to a nearby shelf to grab a bar of soap. "And you're much too filthy."
Ralph pouts, but lets you wash him. He returns the favor. By the time you're both clean and dressed in your borrowed clothes, you have to rush downstairs to make it to brunch in time.
Aunt Molly is already at the table with Uncle Albert, chatting like they're old friends. She's also wearing clothes that aren't hers. You want to ask where he acquired them on such short notice, but the food arrives as soon as you do, and it proves to be quite a distraction.
"I've called your house," your aunt informs you during a coffee refill. "And your parents are gone. The maid says they've come down here to find you."
"Oh," you breathe.
"So," Uncle Albert begins, "I've reached out to a few friends, and they're on the lookout for them. If your parents are located, they'll be brought here for a reunion."
"Thank you," you smile, feeling the nervousness set in.
"And it's going to be one hell of a reunion," your aunt laughs. She looks to you, and her face turns serious. "Remember what I said about me needing to be there when you break the news?"
"The news?" Uncle Albert asks.
"My darling niece is supposed to be marrying some stuffy lawyer when she gets back home," your aunt explains with a wicked grin on her face. "Only, she's come home hitched to a fancy English lad instead."
Uncle Albert's booming laugh echoes through the room.
You busy yourself with your plate, and Ralph does the same.
"Alright," Uncle Albert says eventually, when you've eaten your fill. "Tell me everything."
You and Ralph look at each other uneasily, and then take turns telling your story, starting with the night you met. Aunt Molly listens intently as well, having missed a bit herself.
Ralph is explaining the officer who told him to get in the lifeboat when Victoria saunters in, stretching and yawning and still in her pajamas.
"Uncle, if I'd known what kind of rags you had for me to wear, I'd have jumped overboard to save myself the humiliation." She slumps into a chair and surveys the leftover food with a pout. "And you didn't even wait for me."
"You are two hours late," Uncle Albert notes, with a look to the clock. He calls for Moira, and instructs her to fetch a fresh plate for Victoria.
"And what of those rags?" Victoria whines.
"New York has some of the finest shopping in the world, my dear!" Her uncle announces.
Victoria sniffs.
"Ralph, do continue," Aunt Molly says.
"I don't really remember much after that," Ralph admits quietly, glancing at Victoria. "They lowered the boat and we waited. When we got to the ship, we slept."
"I can attest to that," Aunt Molly smiles. "Poor babies."
"That bloody boat was so crowded," Victoria complains. "And nothing but women complaining."
Molly raises an eyebrow at Victoria, but she doesn't notice. Hadn't they been on the same boat? A maid rushes in with a steaming plate for Victoria, and another comes to refill your cups.
"Uncle," Victoria says. "I've lost my maid. Might I have one of yours during my stay?"
"How did you lose your maid?" her uncle asks.
"She went to the purser's office to retrieve my jewels and never returned," Victoria shrugs. "Filthy tramp, I bet she stole them. Do you know how long it's going to take me to rebuild that collection? I won't be able to properly accessorize for ages! I'll look like… her."
Victoria cuts her eyes at you, and you wonder how sharp your butter knife is.
"Would you shut up?"
Everyone's heads snap toward Ralph.
"You are, without a doubt, the worst person that I have ever met.
"Surely you're not speaking to me this way!" Victoria squawks.
"Damn right, I am." His fists clench. "You have no regard for anyone but yourself. Have you thought at all about the people who didn't make it into a boat? Or their families? Of course not. You don't care about anyone. You left the person who's been taking care of you for three years to die over jewelry!"
"And money!" Victoria adds, like it matters.
"You're a disgrace to the Penbury name," Ralph seethes. "And if you ever speak ill of my wife again, I'll tell Mother what really happened to Fluffy. You remember Fluffy, don't you? Sweet little dog that got more attention than you?"
Victoria's eyes bulge.
"I wonder if that would have any impact your inheritance?" Ralph ponders, eyes narrowed.
"Uncle, are you going to let him threaten me like this?" she shrieks.
Uncle Albert sips his coffee silently. Victoria shrieks, knocks over her chair in her hurry to get out of it, and stomps out of the room.
When her footsteps fade, you place your hand over one of Ralph's balled fists. He looks to you and smirks. You're so proud of him.
The doorbell rings, pulling everyone from their thoughts. A moment later, the butler announces that your parents have arrived.
You hadn't realized you were so eager to be reunited with them until you find yourself rushing to the entrance hall. You nearly leap into your father's embrace, closing your eyes and squeezing him tight.
"Are you alright?" he asks quietly. You nod, still not ready to let him go. You've been abroad for months, after all, and you haven't seen him since he took you to the train station. When you finally pull yourself away, you realize your mother is standing there impatiently.
"Mother," you greet awkwardly. She's never been the type for physical affection. And then a figure steps out from behind her. "Donald?"
"Hello, my sweet," he says, grabbing your hand and bending to kiss the back of it.
You stare at him in horror. You'd thought of breaking the news to your parents, but you were not at all ready to have this discussion with him! Here! In the house of the man you married instead!
"Well, if it ain't my favorite sister," Aunt Molly smirks from the doorway behind you, leaning into her southern-isms for spite. Ralph and Uncle Albert stand on either side of her. "Howdy." Your mother bristles. "Don't you have some introductions to make, honey?"
She is enjoying this far too much.
"Mother, Father, this is our host, Mr. Albert Penbury. He's the gentleman who sent for you."
Your father steps forward to shake his hand and thank him for taking care of his daughter and sister-in-law.
"And this is Ralph Penbury," you smile, only for him, and reach for his hand. He reluctantly steps forward and takes it. "My husband."
Your mother's eye twitches.
"Your what?" she asks.
"My husband," you repeat, holding onto Ralph's hand for dear life.
Murder flashes through your mother's eyes. You can see her blood pressure rise. The vein in her forehead begins to pulsate.
"Ralph, it's a pleasure to meet you," your father says, stepping forward. Ralph lets your hand go to shake your father's. Donald stands there looking dumb and dull, as usual. "Might we have a moment alone with our daughter, please?"
"There's a sitting room just through here," Uncle Albert offers, rushing forward to open the door. Your father thanks him, and holds the door open for your mother.
"C'mon, Don, tell an old lady how you've been," your aunt grins, hooking an arm through Donald's and leading him back to the dining room. Ralph follows hesitantly, shooting you a scared look. You wink at him, then follow your parents into the sitting room. They're not sitting.
"You are engaged," your mother seethes, as soon as you close the door.
"No," you smile. "I'm married."
"What do you mean, married?"
"I mean, a minister said some words, then Ralph and I exchanged some vows, and then we all signed some papers that say we're married."
"It was done under duress," she says to your father. "We'll have it annulled."
"It was not," you argue, "and you will not."
"He's swindled her somehow, taken advantage of her in her fragile state, she's not making any sense," she insists, still ignoring you.
"She can hear you," you remind her, "and Mother? You're in his uncle's house. Does it look like the Penburys need to do any kind of swindling to get by?"
"You," she growls, finger in your face. "Are marrying Donald Andrews this summer, just like I planned. I do not know who this boy is, and I do not care." She turns to your father. "Get rid of him."
"She's an adult," your father signs. "She's made her choice, and there's nothing we can do about it." He turns to you. "You love him?"
"Yes."
"This is really what you want?"
"Yes."
"Then that's that."
"THAT," your mother spits, "is NOT that!"
"If you like Donald so much, why don't you marry him?" you propose. Her palm cracks across your cheek. You stare defiantly, feeling a little satisfied that you've made her resort to violence like a commoner.
"Enough," your father says, staring her down. "We are going in there to properly meet our son-in-law and his family. And if you cannot be pleasant, you will be silent."
You can't wait to tell Aunt Molly about this.
"And you?" he rounds on you. "You owe Donald an explanation. Stay here. I'm sending him in."
"Alright," you agree.
Your father reaches out to take your mother's arm, but she jerks away from him and leaves the room. He heaves a sigh and follows. You drop into a chair and wait for Donald.
"You wanted to see me?" he asks, peeking his head into the room.
"Yes," you smile, gesturing toward a chair. "Take a seat."
He sits. He blinks. You search for words. How does one tell their fiancé that they've married someone else?
"Donald, I…"
"Where's my engagement ring?" he interrupts.
Perhaps this will be easier than you thought.
"It's in my jewelry box at home. Nancy will get it for you."
"Right," he says, getting up. "I suppose we're done here."
"I suppose we are," you say cautiously, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Tears, threats, a violent outburst, anything?
Donald leaves the room, and you get up to follow. He walks out the front door without a word. You stand there and laugh in disbelief. Could it really be that easy?
You shake your head and return to the dining room, where everyone sits around the table with a cup of tea. You slide into the chair next to Ralph.
"Where's our sweet Donny-boy?" your aunt grins.
"Gone," you say simply.
"Gone?" Ralph asks.
"Gone," you confirm, reaching for his hand under the table. You focus on the love in Ralph's eyes, and not the steam billowing from your mother's ears.
Your parents stay for tea, while you and Molly recap your adventures, but decline the dinner invitation so they can catch the last train home. Your mother remains silent, except for a very forced "thank you" to Uncle Albert when he helps her put on her coat.
You and Ralph see your parents to the door. You plan to walk out to the car with them, now that the rain has let up, but the butler advises against it.
"Journalists, Mrs. Penbury. They've gathered everywhere they suspect a survivor is staying, hoping for an exclusive story. The vultures practically chased Miss Victoria down the street on her way to go shopping."
You nod in understanding and hug your father one last time before he goes.
"When are you coming home?" he asks.
"When it's safe," you whisper.
"From her, or from the press?" he mumbles.
You laugh, and he kisses your forehead. He and Ralph share a goodbye handshake and a few quiet words. When the butler opens the door, your mother rushes out of it. Your father gives you a knowing look, then follows.
You and Ralph peek through the curtains, watching journalists yell questions at your parents. A photographer snaps a photo of the house, and you drop the curtain and step back.
"How long do you think this will last?" you ask.
"I don't know," Ralph admits.
Molly and Albert both laugh loudly from the other room.
"God help us at Christmastime, if those two team up," you grin.
Ralph laughs and drapes an arm across your shoulders.
"Well, Mrs. Penbury," he begins, walking you toward the stairs. "You've seen the world, fallen in love, survived a shipwreck, and broken the news of a broken engagement to both a former beau and your terrifying mother. What will you do next?"
"That's a good question, Mr. Penbury. Are you looking for an official statement?" He nods. You place a finger to your chin, like you're pondering as you ascend the stairs. "I think, in light of my brush with death, I'd like to live a little. Have adventures. Enjoy the finer things in life."
"Might I have an example?" he asks, eyes sparkling as you walk down the hall.
"Of course," you smile. "I believe my next adventure will take me to bed, with my darling husband."
"And what will you do there?" he asks, quirking an eyebrow as he opens the bedroom door.
"Mr. Penbury, what kind of salacious publication are you running?!"
Ralph throws his head back and laughs. You grin and pull him inside, and he kicks the door closed behind him.
The girl had lived a little, as she'd set out to do… but her life didn't truly start until she found someone to love a lot.

Ghoulette Appreciation Week 6
Week 6: Murder Ghoulettes and self-care
Aurora wakes up thirsty. Cumulus taking Aurora out on her first hunt, followed by a tiny bit of self-care with Cirrus afterwards.
Rating: M Content: murder ghoulettes, kinda vampire au, blood/violence/murder Words: 1270
In my mind Aurora is a huge Twilight-girlie, so you can't tell me she doesn't try and recreate Bella's first hunt to cope with learning what her topside diet includes...
Read below or on AO3! where this almost got named "good soup"
Aurora wakes up thirsty. She’s been topside for a few months by now, and while she’s mostly on top of this strangely fragile Vessel’s needs, she’s never felt a thirst quite like this. Her mouth feels drier than it does after a band rehearsal without water, like her throat is burning.
She delicately untangles herself from the arms of the ghoulettes around her and makes her way to the kitchen to get a drink. Grabbing the largest glass she can find, she fills it and gulps it down, immediately refilling it. Nothing. In fact her thirst seems to be worse than ever. Too cold some instinct screams at her. She puts the glass in the microwave, and takes another sip of the gently steaming liquid. Wrong. Aurora lets out a small growl which reverberates around the darkened kitchen, mocking her in her frustration. The lights flicker to life as Cirrus joins her in the kitchen, yawning widely.
“What’cha doing, Rory? ‘S too early to be up yet.”
Aurora turns to her with frantic eyes, gesturing to the half full glass of warm water, “I’m so thirsty Cir, but water just makes it worse!”
Cirrus seemed to wake up fully at that, blinking sleep from her quickly darkening eyes. “Ah. I thought you were overdue a feed. Lus is going on a trip soon, she’ll take you later.”
A feed? What sort of trip? Aurora rakes her fingers through her hair in frustration at Cirrus’s cryptic behaviour. With a tilt of her head at Aurora's confusion, Cirrus turns abruptly to head back to the dorms.
“Come on, you'll want to be sitting down for this.”
Aurora took the news well. Almost too well. Instead of the abject horror most ghouls displayed at having to hunt in their weak humanoid forms to survive topside, she seemed almost excited at the prospect.
"So we're like vampires up here?” There was a disconcerting gleam to her eyes. "That's so cool!”
Cirrus and Cumulus shared a glance. Oh dear. They recalled Aurora's current obsession with 2000s chick-flicks. She watched Twilight last week. Cumulus nodded sheepishly; at least this reaction was better than the hysterics from Sunny.
“Sure thing Starburst, just like Vampires.” Cumulus didn't specify that she meant the non-glittery-variety. “Go get changed, we'll head out this morning before the boys decide to join us. Rain always makes such a mess.”
Aurora practically skipped across the hall to her room.
"Good luck with that.” Cirrus remarked to Cumulus, “I'll have a hot bath ready when you get back.”
“Thanks love.” Cumulus rolled her eyes good-naturedly, pressing a kiss to her cheek. “I'll bring the little bloodsucker back in once piece.”
“I'm ready!” chirps Aurora from the doorway. She's met with stunned silence for a second.
"Sweetie,” Cirrus starts hesitantly, “What are you wearing?”
A short while later, once Aurora has been convinced that while yes, she definitely can wear that tiny silk dress, she really does have to put proper shoes on, Cumulus leads the way to the edge of the forest surrounding the Abbey. As she does, she makes a mental note of other movies to blacklist.
The pair trek through miles and miles of forest, well beyond the invisible perimeter wards of the Abbey. There is an agreement with the Clergy that although ghouls definitely need to feed, they should do so as far from the Abbey as possible, and not in the same region too often. After her initial excitement, Aurora now feels her mouth getting drier and drier with each step.
After what feels like hours, Cumulus stops, sniffing the air around them and smiling.
“Alright Rory, you're good to go.”
"What do I do?” Aurora asks uncertainly. The air here felt thick, and held the same allure as the waft of Mountain's freshly baked bread did.
“Oh you'll see,” Cumulus smirks, "just follow your nose.”
Aurora took a deep sniff before instinctually dropping into a hunting crouch. The scent was stronger down here, sticking to the leaves underfoot. She slinks through the trees, tracking the captivating smell until the air around them is rich with it. A gust of wind blows it even stronger in their direction, and she takes off running in the direction of the mouthwatering aroma. The branches around her tear at the flimsy satin of her dress and Cumulus has to laugh internally at the destruction: what did she expect?
The deer hunter Aurora has tracked never stood a chance. Before he could even link the sounds of branches snapping with danger, the small ghoulette is on top of him, his gun still raised in the direction of a spooked deer that is now bolting away.
She rips and tears at his flesh with vicious fangs and claws, carving through bone and sinew, and devouring blood, viscera, organs. The rush of warmth on her tongue and the sweet, metallic tang finally satiates her unholy thirst. As Aurora begins to return to herself from the red haze of the hunt, Cumulus looks on proudly, with feral eyes of her own. There is blood smeared around Aurora's mouth, her entirely ridiculous dress is hanging onto her by threads, more rip than fabric, and Cumulus can't help but marvel at her terrifying beauty.
She helps Aurora maneuverer the remains of the hunter's lifeless body deeper into the trees. By the time he is found, likely months later, his ghoulish mutilations will be indistinguishable from those caused by a wild animal. Possibly the ghouls will see talk of a bear attack in the newspapers the Siblings of the Abbey read.
Aurora’s thirst may be satisfied but Cumulus’s is only baited, so the pair move on. It isn’t done to share one’s prey with another ghoul if they are not mated, so Cumulus will find another victim, she always does. Sometimes they even come willingly, hypnotised by her unfathomable beauty in the depths of the unforgiving forest.
Eventually returning to the Abbey, Aurora find that the less feral she feels, the more she realises how deeply uncomfortable she is; cold and sticky, covered in mud, blood, and Satan only knows what else. Cumulus tempts her to keep moving quickly, despite the tiredness that is setting back into her bones, by telling her how Cirrus won't be able to resist her after a hunt. She’ll run them a warm bath, meticulously clean her claws for her, and take care of her in every way she knows. Cumulus tells Aurora how she's in for it now, as she looks every inch the terrifying hellbeast that she is.
They enter the ghoul wing with their hair everywhere, wild nests full of twigs and leaves. They are careful to avoid the common areas of the Abbey looking like this. All the ghouls, no matter how reckless they are when hunting, know better that to give any indication to the Siblings of Sin that this side of them exists.
“How'd the little vampire do?” Cirrus asks Cumulus when they tumble into her room, jumping up to begin picking detritus out of her Mate's hair and usher them both towards the cloud of sweet-smelling steam emanating from the bathroom.
Aurora is doing great: she’s preening just inside the door, feigning nonchalance as she picks blood out from under her claws. The dress maybe didn’t survive as well as she expected, the liquid silk slip hanging off her small frame in tatters. She shoots out a delicate tongue to lap up a spot of blood on her arm, her high-pitched purr reverberating around the room with self-satisfaction.
Cumulus smirks, “Oh, she’s gonna be just fine up here Riri.”

The Sheriff's Daughter
Tumblr media
Your day started out simple enough. You stood in the kitchen, preparing a basket of food, medicine, and some small blankets. Your skirt flowed against your legs as you whisked around the kitchen, gathering more supplies.
You were going to take it to a nearby rural area for the people there who needed help, help you were able and willing to provide. You weren't rich by any means, but when your dad's the sheriff of the town, well, you have more than others.
It was still dark out, but you were determined to get an early start since you had a while to walk. You quickly scribbled a note to your parents telling them where you were going before grabbing your coat and heading out the door.
The air was brisk and cold, coming as a shock to you. You started walking faster, hoping to create some sort of warmth. The full basket heavy in your hands, you were determined to get there as quick as you could. From past experience, you knew it would take you about 30 minutes to walk. Besides the ache already forming in your arms though, you really didn't mind. Helping these people you had already gotten to know was worth the effort. Many in that smaller village were affected by the Vietnam War, and that made your heart tug in several directions.
Before long, you saw the sun starting to peek above the horizon. You knew you were almost there, and making good time, too.
You arrived at the village as people were starting to come out of their homes, starting their work for the day. Children's laughs and playful shrieks filled the rural town as they ran around playing with each other. You made your way to the first few houses, distributing food and supplies at each. You liked to make sure that took time to talk with the people, getting to know and love them.
You soon came upon the house you knew the most, belonging to a widow named Mrs. Barry and her children. You could see her hanging the laundry to dry, but that wasn't the only thing you saw. There was a man you didn't recognize, slowly moving away from her before coming back to give her what looked like a slip of paper. He made eye contact with you as he started walking away again. You averted your eyes and continued down the path toward Mrs. Barry, greeting her as you got closer.
"Mrs. Barry," you called, "I'm back with more medicine!" You got closer and set your basket down. "How have you been?"
You talked with her next to the laundry, even helping her put the last of it up to dry before she invited you inside. Once through the front door, you headed to the table and set out the remainder of your basket.
"Thank you," Mrs. Barry said, "We are so grateful for your visits. God bless you, my dear."
"It's my pleasure, Mrs. Barry. Is there anything else I can do for you? Anything I can bring?"
"We're okay here, you've already done so much for us," she replied.
You chuckled before responding. "I'll be back in a few weeks then."
She was amused by your answer, helping you to the door. "I suppose I'll see you then," she said.
You stepped outside, saying your goodbyes before heading back down the path you came, empty basket in hand.
------------
Since he had seen her coming down the path toward Delmar's old place, he was determined to know more about this mystery girl. Rambo had stuck around, sitting under a tree, just observing the town around him, but keeping an eye on her, talking with the widow of his friend.
Soon they both moved inside the house, staying there for a while. He let his mind wander. How did she know Delmar's wife? She definitely didn't look like she belonged here, so why was she here? She's probably a friend, visiting from a nearby town.
Which was good for him, he was getting hungry. He could use a nearby town.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when he saw the girl making her way on the path that lead away from the village. Rambo stood up and made his way toward her.
------------
You made your way down the road, preparing yourself for the trek back home. You heard footsteps behind you and turned to face a man who seemed to want to talk with you. The first thing you noticed was his height since you had to look up to see his face. He had dark brown hair, a face with a sharp jawline, and eyes that were hard, but had something in them you couldn't describe. You actually found him quite handsome.
Rambo had some similar thoughts about you, seeing you up closer for the first time. He quickly took in your soft features, your long and light hair, and the dress that seemed to hug your sides perfectly.
"Is there a town nearby?" he asked.
His voice was a surprise to you, deeper than you expected. "Oh, um yes!" you exclaimed, getting over your initial shock at his voice. "I'm heading there now."
"Can I join you?" He asked, stepping a bit closer.
"Yes, of course. Although I should tell you, it's about 30 minutes of walking." You smiled up at him as if inviting a challenge.
"I'll manage," he said, smiling softly back.
____________
Hey people, I hope whatever random corner of the internet that's reading this enjoyed my first piece on my blog. I have another writing blog, but it's Star Wars, so I decided to make a separate one for Rambo since there's not nearly enough content for him out there :(
Anyway, Part 2 is in the works (in my head at least)

Hello! Can I request a Tanjiro's smut? (dom reader)
It's okay if you don't want to as I see a lot of writer considered his age...
Thank you!😘
I gave it some thought, and I'll be doing this.... as a 2 parter! Because I've been having fun with longer works. We're gonna lead slowly into the smut, but I promise it's there/coming. (Heh)
Keep in mind, Tanjiro is aged up and a Hashira, and this fic is spoiler-free for the most part. Featuring a Kakushi, F!Reader. No real trigger warnings other than you recovered from a bad injury, your relationship is low-key, and there's some nudity. Enjoy!
💗💗💗
A faint knock comes to the door, making you lift your head.
"Come in!," you proclaim, before the door slides open. Through this, Kamado Tanjiro is revealed to you, carrying a small bundle of wildflowers with him.
You feel your heart swell, as you instantly reach out to to him, anticipating his embrace. Tanjiro is quick to come to you, kissing your cheek as he wraps his free arm around you.
"Ready to be discharged?," he asks, before you shake your head.
"Not quite. Aoi is gathering some medicine together for me to take. As long as I talk it diligently for the next few days, I should be a-okay."
Tanjiro sighs, looking relieved," It's strange to be on the other side of things... especially with a Kakushi getting hurt in my sted."
You laugh, lifting your shirt slightly to reveal the fully closed wound across your abdomen," Right? It's weird for me too... but at least I'm cleared for home rest, for now. And, no more infection to worry about!"
Tanjiro sets your bouquet aside for a moment, his hand tracing over the scar that was soon to form," I know... I'm glad that things are finally looking up again."
You lean up and kiss his cheek, chuckling," I just know that you worried yourself far too much... but, hopefully a day together can put your mind at ease."
Tanjiro presses his forehead against yours, lightly 'head butting' you playfully," It would... it will, I should say. And I'm going to carry you all the way home." You feel your face heat up, childishly shoving him away.
"N-No way!!! Tanjiro, I can walk on my own--!!"
The door opens suddenly, making the two of you jump and seperate quickly. Aoi, not looking to either of you, seems to be juggling multiple things," Sorry for the intrusion: I finally have your medicine!"
You huff, relief flooding your body. The sooner you were out of there, the sooner you could make up for lost time. Tanjiro listens to Aoi's warnings and recommendations, just in case, as she talks away. He knows you tend to zone out when someone is scolding/talking at you like this.
He can't help but want to reach over and hold your hand, but he buried the thought, considering your feelings before outing your sneaky relationship.
When Aoi bids the two of you good day, Tanjiro looks back to you gleefully, offering a hand. You take it gingerly, and for the first time in weeks, you manage to get to your feet without much difficulty.
"Let's go, then!" You chime, tugging Tanjiro along as you make your way out from the Butterfly Estate. You smile and bid all of the ladies and girls of the estate well, as they and others wish for your health and prosperity. Again, Tanjiro can't help the look he gives you, one that's so full of love and longing, that he wishes he could just kiss you now. A few of the older girls happen to notice this, gossiping behind cupped hands. But for now, Tanjiro could always wait a little longer...
As the two of you start making the familiar trek to your estate, Tanjiro grins, looking around for any on lookers.
"Okay, it seems the coast is clear.... SO THEN--!!"
You yelp in surprise when Tanjiro scoops you up, before breaking into a light jog. You flail as your arms instinctively loop around his neck,"T-Tanjiro!!! I told you I could walk just fine!"
Your partner just smiles mischievously at you, a glint in his eye," I know... but I have plans for us today! I don't want to waste a single moment!"
You groan, your defeat holding your embarrassment at bay," You're lucky you're so cute when you get like this...," you grumble, leaning your head against him as his pace increases.
---
You feel your eyes open when you're set down, grogginess overwhelming you.
"I didn't think I was THAT comfy~" Tanjiro teases, ruffling your hair as you groan.
"D-Did I really fall asleep...? Ahh, sorry... the medicine must've worn me out..."
Tanjiro comes to sit beside you on your bed, a hand coming to rest on your thigh," I was thinking... You'd probably want a warm bath, to celebrate being home, right?," Tanjiro offers, making you hum.
"Yeah... a bath sounds nice, actually," you practically coo, stretching as Tanjiro stands.
"Just wait right there, then, and I'll get it going for you--," you tug on the sleeve of his haori suddenly, your face feeling hot.
"A-Actually... if you're going through the trouble, and you're all hot and sweaty too... would you want to join me?"
Tanjiro's eyes widen for a moment, before his face blooms a deep red," W-Well... I don't think that that'd be a very-- uhh-- productive bath..."
And then there were the puppy dog eyes: the eyes that killed Tanjiro every time.
He rolls his eyes, going to ruffle your hair again as he turns to walk away" But I guess we could make that happen. Today is all about you, and what you'd want to do today." You blink, a little surprised. You didn't think he'd finally agree to something like this so easily... maybe you should ask more?
"O-oh... y-yeah, I-- thanks, Tanjiro," you stammer, a grin slowly growing," I-I'll come join once you're ready... okay?"
Tanjiro nods, methodically performing the routine of running your bath, just how you liked it. While he's out of the room, you opt to change out of your hospital attire, finding a comfortable lounge robe. You swallowed your nervous feeling welling up in your throat, as you decided to omit your undergarments. Though this had been far from the first time he's seen you like this... something about this just felt especially intimate to you. That, or you were utterly touch starved by this point. Who could really say?
When Tanjiro calls for you, you make your way to the washroom, to the tub that awaited you. Hot steam exited the room, as Tanjiro was removing his blouse.
He looks to you, face hot as he eyes your robe," S-So, you're already ready, then..." You nod, attempting to be boldn in place of meek," Did you really want to undress me that badly, Kamado?"
Tanjiro could only flush harder, removing the rest of his clothing," And is it a bad thing if I did?" You snort, going to cover your mouth. You read him like a book.
You open your arms out to him, allowing him to walk over and undo your robe fastenings, before he tenderly slides your garment off of you. As he took in the sight of your recent injuries, and your body overall, he's blissfully happy. He's eternally grateful that you were still here, and that you weren't harmed anymore than you were. His hands brushed across your lower back so gently, it was as if he were scared to break you.
"So... anything on your mind?," you prod, leaning against Tanjiro's chest. You loosely wrap your arms around his neck, keeping him close.
He smiles, kissing your cheek as he embraces you back," Just about how beautiful you are, love... but, we should probably go and enjoy the water before it gets cold."
You hum, nodding as he leads you over and helps you in first. For a moment, you both fumble as you try to figure out where Tanjiro should be, before he opts to sit behind you.
You lean back into your lover once he's settled, sighing contently. Tanjiro can't help but mirror your sigh as a powerful but gentle arm hugs you close, squeezing lightly. He inhales, smiling as he fondly recalls your scent," I missed you so much, Y/N..."
You chuckle, looking back to kiss him on his jaw," I missed you too, Tanjiro... but, at least we're together like this versus in a stiff hospital room..." Tanjiro nuzzles into you, breathing you in again.
"Mm-hmm... 'glad to be back at your home, for now."
For a moment, the two of you stay this way, before you feel familiar hands explore your body," Did you want me to wash your back for you?"
You chuckle, knowing it was a very obvious attempt to touch you more intimately. You grind ever so slightly on him, as you look back to him, trying to act coy. You sit forward a bit, biting your lip as you hear him gasp.
"Go right ahead, pretty boy."
You could feel his restraint swaying, as a trembling hand reaches for a washcloth and soap. You couldn't even scold him when the cold soap touches your back; his hands radiated a heat that you were all-too familiar with.
You looked straight ahead, pretending that this had no affect on the current situation. You feel that your attempts are working, as Tanjiro's free hand gently holds your hip, keeping you in place.
"I think you missed a spot, dear..." You muse suddenly. He doesn's get a chance to speak before you're pushing your rump back against him, arching your back," A little lower, I think~?"
Tanjiro was throbbing from your teasing, biting his lip as the cloth ventured lower," R-Right, of course..." You almost felt the need to pout as he held himself back, wanting to wait and not rush into things. Partially, you figure, because you're not fully recovered yet.
The tension was enough to make you squeeze your legs together,"Baby...," you command softly, your voice lowering. Tanjiro's throat runs dry, his hand ceasing its circular path.
"Y-Yes...?"
You glance back, your eyelids lowered," Did you really miss me...? As much as you said?"
Tanjiro almost looks panicked as he nods," O-Of course! Every day, my love... I couldn't wait to see you--"
"Did you want hold me close?" Tanjiro's lip quivered as your voice seemed to drip with desire " Y-Yes..."
You swivel around a bit, your breasts coming into view as you brushed up against his manhood again," And...did you miss fucking me?"
Between the alluring angle, and the way your voice melded into his mind, he was absolutely melting. Tanjiro's face went through multiple stages of embarrassment and desire, but he ultimately nodded, casting your washcloth aside. You yelp in surprise when he grabs you by your waist, pulling you flush against him. Your breath hitches when familiar, gentle lips kiss at the crook of your neck.
"Without a doubt, Y/N. I want you... even now. Especially now."
You smile, pulling away from him before leaning over the edge of the tub. You can hear his breath becoming more labored as your wet slit was basically eye level with his face," Show me, then... won't you, Kamado?"
Tanjiro's breath ghosted across your bare sex as he leans forward, both hands coming up to knead the flesh of your ass.
"I plan to: full heartedly~"

what can i do for you? (jamil viper x gn!reader*)
i am not ok after seeing jamil's clubwear SSR. when he dropped, i ended up dropping an extra 2k words for this chapter. sige na nga, ill give u more fluff and bliss ser viper🤧 content warnings: -anachronistic (it is set during the main story of twst, but no references to overblots) -g/n reader described as having thick, long, not-straight hair -mix of jp and en terms -gratuitous headcanoning of how nrc classes work -light references to nightmares and bullying word count: 7.1k words chapter 1: just let me do this for you
Tumblr media
chapter 2: take my hand like you mean it
You were a capable set of extra hands, to Jamil's surprise. Well, as long as you weren't put in front of a stove. Chores that were usually tedious, like mopping and waxing the floors of certain hallways in the dorm, feeding the animals and cleaning their enclosures—in this case, removing the curtains and draperies that decorated the lounge area for laundry—took more or less have the usual time it required.
"Can you reach it?"
"I don't think so... I'm going to jump—"
"Don't jump!" His hold on the stepladder tightened as you stood up on your tiptoes.
You grunted, stretching your arm out to unhook the cloth. "But I'll be able to reach it that way..."
"Just let me do it—" A section of the scarlet cloth fell on top of him. He pulled it away to see your sheepish expression. "Never mind, get down from there."
You carefully climbed down, immediately going to pick up the other hand of the curtain and helping him fold it. Then, the both of you moved to repeat the process for the rest of the draperies in the lounge.
The golden rays of the afternoon sun streamed into the room, now unhindered from the lack of curtains. You paused to stare out into the surroundings, not one bit bothered by the heat. In fact, you seemed to soak up the warmth. The serene expression that washed over your features was quickly replaced with mild discomfort.
“If you’re tired, you can leave the rest of it to me,” Jamil said, snapping you out of your reverie.
You shook your head, folding the curtain in half and stepping closer to pass your end to him. “I’m good, I’m good. I just…” Your fingers carded through the ends of your ponytail. “Does it ever rain here? I know rain in the desert is a thing, but if the dorms are like a sort of pocket dimension, then does it follow regular weather?”
Sometimes, Kalim liked to make it rain. Whenever he saw the plants in the gardens wilting, whenever they trekked out to a dried-up oasis, whenever he heard his fellow dormmates complaining about the dry heat of Scarabia. Jamil didn’t have any strong feelings for rain, but a part of him—the part that was stubbornly curious about you, felt as if the question wasn’t one from random inquiry.
“It does, occasionally. The weather is independent from the main campus though, if that’s what you’re asking.” He started walking towards the laundry area, carrying the folded-up curtains.
“...Huh, cool.” You trailed behind him, your arms were swallowed up by the sheer volume of fabric. “I think I prefer sunny weather though. Reminds me of home.”
What was your hometown like in your original world? Did you come from a place that was always bright with sunlight? Or were you more used to the persistent scent of petrichor, to cloudy gray skies? Though if he asked, he knew that you wouldn’t be able to give much of an answer.
“That’s nice. Watch your step.” As soon as he said that, you stumbled, foot catching on the trailing ends of the curtain. He shifted what he was carrying to one hand and caught you by the back of your uniform’s jacket.
You quickly righted yourself and apologized, “sorry, um. Thank you.” You ran your gaze along the part of the fabric you stepped on as you gathered it into your arms once again.
“It’s going to be washed anyway.” Jamil let go of your blazer. The use of the upperclassman honorific in place of his name slowly became more frequent with each visit, he noted.
Ironic, seeing as how you were completely at ease with him during your first meeting.
In the laundry area, hampers containing his and Kalim’s used clothes were already sitting there. He figured he could kill two birds with one stone, and do it at the same time.
The curtains were vacuumed every week, but it had been a while since they were properly cleaned. And in a place as sandy as the Scarabia dorm, they were pretty much due for a washing. While the fabric didn’t contain designs as elaborate as the ones that decorated the Asim estate, it was still provided by said family. Tailored, not manufactured, for the renovated dorm and worth more than what he would ever amount to. He sorted through the fabrics, which ones were good to throw into the laundry machine and which ones had to be strictly washed by hand.
He nodded towards the latter. “I’ll handle these.”
“Is this too much detergent?”
“You could use a little more.”
Another thing he noticed about you, was that you were, for lack of a better word, quiet. Rarely did you ever ask questions about how to do or where to find things, only needing a glance around the room. He initially attributed it to the fact that you spent a large chunk of your first days here fixing up your dorm to be at least livable, to make the most of your meager belongings. But behind the awkwardly polite demeanor you wore, there was an experienced and practiced characteristic to how you carried out your work. The kind that was ingrained into muscle memory after years.
When you were alone, did your shoulders sag with bone-deep exhaustion? Did you ache from constant daily exertion? And if he were to hold your hand, would he feel the remnants of calluses and blisters?
“Did…did I do something wrong?” you asked, before closing the machine and letting it run its cycle.
“No, you didn’t.” He brought out a small stool for you to sit on.
Jamil could feel the weight of your gaze prickling the back of his neck. You spoke up after a few seconds of silence,  “do you need help with that?”
“No, I can manage this.” In fact, he could make quick work of it. There weren’t any stains that he needed to remove, for once. He filled an empty basin with water and let the fabric soak in the detergent.
“Alright…” you acquiesced, leaning your elbows on your thighs and resting your chin on your palms.
The rumble of the machines, combined with the slosh of water filled the room. Not that he was the most interesting conversationalist to be with, but he was grateful for the ambient noise.
“It’d be nice… if we had our own washing machine for Ramshackle,” you blurted out.
Jamil supposed that the once-abandoned dorm was equipped with all the necessary amenities during its time of use. But if you and Grim were the newest and only living residents, then— “Did Headmaster Crowley not replace the dorm’s appliances?” He rolled up his sleeves before rinsing out the draperies. If he wasn’t careful, he could tear the delicate cloth.
At your silence, he turned to glance at you, meeting your gaze. You gave a slow shake of your head before turning back to watch the machine in front of you. “I had to do it by hand at first—which is fine! Completely fine with me, actually—but everything in that dorm was on the verge of collapse. I kinda feel scared to touch it.”
“If you’re looking for a place to do your laundry…” This wasn’t the place to do it. He was up to his neck in responsibilities, spontaneous and planned. He gave the contents one last rinse then deemed it clean enough to be dried, emptying the basin and wringing out the fabrics.
“Hm? Oh, no, I mean, the ghosts showed me how to use it.” You pondered on your next words, standing up to take the freshly laundered fabrics out. “I just…think that getting a new one would end up erasing what they taught me.”
“The ghosts have been around for a long time. They’re more than used to seeing people come and go.” He flicked the water off his hands.  “what more for a broken machine?”
Your head tilted to the side. “...I guess so. ”
The room fell into silence once more as he hung the finished laundry on a metal drying rack.
“We still need to hang these outside.” He tossed a set of clothespins into a basket before passing it to you. The both of you left the laundry area, stepping outside. The clear, sunny weather showed no signs of diminishing and there was a pleasant breeze. With the area he chose, he wouldn’t have to worry about sand and dust getting kicked up by the wind.
“Henchmaaan!”
Your head searched for Grim spotting him bounding towards you on all fours. You threw the curtain over the clothesline before catching him in your arms. “What’s wrong? Where’s Kalim?”
“I dunno and I don’t care, let’s go back home!" Jamil guessed that even Grim had his limits.
At those words, he could hear the dorm leader’s voice calling out for Grim.
"Gyah, you gotta hide me!" He burrowed into your jacket, pitchfork-shaped tail jutting out.
You shared a look with Jamil, confusion furrowing your brow. “Did…something bad happen—ow, Grim your nails!”
“Probably not.” Jamil said as he clipped another curtain onto the line. The fabric billowed in the wind, the finely-spun thread catching the rays of sunlight. He stole a glance at you, standing on the opposite side of the clothesline. Grim was balancing on your shoulders as you talked to him.
“If you made him angry—” Kalim and the word ‘angry’ in the same sentence? That would have been something to see, Jamil thought to himself. “—you’re going to have to apologize to him,” you said as you straightened out another piece of fabric before hanging it.
“He’s…he’s not mad!” Grim protested, tail flicking back and forth. “But he kept taking me everywhere and pinching my tail, and I had enough!”
That sounded like something Kalim would do. His ears then picked up the sound of his footsteps, combined with the sounds of his accessories and jewelry clinking and chiming.
“There you are, Grim!” There goes Jamil’s two hours of solace and quiet.
Grim wailed, hiding behind your legs and putting you squarely in between him and Kalim. “I don’t wanna go with you!”
“Um…if you don’t mind me asking,” There it was again, the use of that honorific in place of Kalim’s name. “What happened a while ago?” Your hands picked at your fingers.
The dorm leader explained that the fire-monster got bored of studying, so Kalim suggested a few fun things they could do around the dorm. It started out with a few board games, followed by a visit to the animals, and then just before he could take Grim on a spontaneous flying carpet ride, the fire-monster ran away to find you. That meant Jamil had to do some extra cleanup after he finished putting away the laundry. Great.
“Oh, I see...” Your confusion didn’t let up but you continued without losing a beat, “so, while I—we appreciate your kind intentions, I think that’s my cue to help Grim study… Maybe you could take him flying next time?”
Kalim nodded in understanding. “Next time then. Oh! By the way, I’m throwing a party this weekend, we could do it then! Would you like to come?”
Your fidgeting paused. “It sounds fun, I just… I wouldn’t know anyone there?” It was clear you didn’t want to go.
“But you know me, and you know Jamil. And Grim can come along too!”
“...Um…I don’t—I guess I do, but…” Your gaze momentarily flicked to Jamil then back to Kalim.
He took your hands in his, eyes shining with undeterred excitement. “The food’ll be good! And, and, I could introduce you to my other friends too! It’ll be fun, I promise!” Guess Jamil had to step in.
“Kalim. They’re probably going to be busy on the weekend.” Or, from what he gathered, you just didn’t seem very extraverted. Surprisingly, he still had an iota of patience that he could inject into his tone. “Just invite them another time, when their schedule’s freed up.”
Thankfully, the dorm leader let go of your hands and didn’t push any further. “Just tell me when, and I’ll make sure to plan something for you, alright?”
You only gave him a stiff smile in acknowledgement.
Truth be told, Jamil didn’t plan on letting you continue to visit. At first, you would always get lost in the dorm, somehow ending up in a room on the complete opposite end of where you were trying to get to. And since Grim would always accompany you, the more the fire monster grew comfortable to his new after school hangout spot, the more of a menace he became. Your time went into chasing Grim around Scarabia, keeping him away from the kitchens while Jamil was cooking. He didn’t want to think about what would happen if you reached the point of having to babysit Kalim as well.
He could go on and on with his nitpicking, but none of it could take away from the fact that you were efficient. Somehow, you managed to take away a portion of the work that burdened him everyday.
[...]
Apparently, he wasn’t completely right about your ability to efficiently manage your studies.
His class was in the library, doing some preliminary research for a paper to be submitted later in the semester. He sat on one of the outer seats of the table his group was using. They were situated in a relatively quiet section of the library. Most of the noise came from the tables near the entrance and the sections with the resources that were most appropriate for the paper’s subject matter.
Said noise and chatter would only grow louder with the arrival of a first-year class. Jamil could hear the librarian already admonishing them. What Jamil would give to be able to throw on his headphones. He flipped the page of the book he was reading. A few passages proved to be somewhat promising, he took note of the important points, condensing them for easy reference—
“Grim! That’s not the right map!”
Something clattered noisily on the table. “Whaat? I was doing it exactly like you told me.”
“No…no, it’s wrong, it’s—we have to redo it, all of it.” The frantic flutter of papers combined with Grim’s drawn-out whine.
“Actually, I think you guys forgot about the time zone, it’s not on Sage Island remember?” Ace cut in.
“Argh, I forgot about that—” A thud against the table surface interrupted your words. Any louder, and Jamil supposed that the librarian would materialize right at your side.
“Guys, the librarian’s looking at us…” Deuce’s voice wasn’t that much quieter than yours, but at least he wasn’t completely ignoring his surroundings.
Your voice lowered to a non-discreet whisper. “What does your solution look like?”
“I got this for my answer.” Your group fell silent, reading over his work.
Ace then spoke up, “...ohh. It looks correct—hey, don’t start crying on the paper!”
“I’m gonna—we’re gonna fail, I don’t get it, I don’t get any of it—”
“Why do we need to manually calculate this? Can’t we just use that fancy crystal ball like the teacher does?” Grim complained.
Ah, first-year Astrology. Now your group’s reaction made sense.
“Hey, those freshmen are starting to be pretty annoying. Should I tell them off?” Jamil’s gaze moved from the book to his classmate. He noticed that he was the only person who had an open book, everyone else was either on their phones or leaning closer to continue in hushed voices.
“Ugh, I was waiting for someone to say something about them.”
“If you don’t do it, I’m gonna complain to the librarian. See how they like gettin’ thrown out into the hall…”
Without making a sound, Jamil pushed his chair back and left the table. Moved two—no, four shelves down to be away from the confrontation when it happened. Not that the distance did anything to lessen the fact that he could still hear the short screech of the chairs being pushed back, whispers slowly growing into an argument, Grim hissing as a warning—
That didn’t concern you. He pushed it out of his mind, put all his focus into scanning the titles along the shelf. A memoir from an author who was prominent in the connected field of study, a collection of similar studies published under NRC, his group could use these. He tucked the books under his arm and went to the front desk. “Excuse me, I would like to borrow these,” he said, setting them down on the wooden surface and filling out the cards at the back.
The irate expression on the librarian’s face didn’t let up. The force of him stamping the cards was strong enough to make the desk shake. But judging from the bits of quiet angry muttering that Jamil could hear, the librarian didn’t seem to have any plans of approaching the area where your group was located. He passed the books back to Jamil and waved him off.
The commotion didn’t seem to have escalated too badly by the time he returned. His groupmates were now just talking about their afterschool plans, counting the minutes until they were dismissed. One of his classmates’ tie was crooked, the collar of his shirt wrinkled possibly from being grabbed. Another was cradling a fresh scratch mark along his wrist. Jamil glanced over to your group’s table—Deuce was going over a worksheet with you. You were absentmindedly scratching the base of Grim’s ear. And Ace was leaning back in his chair. The look in his irises didn’t match his relaxed demeanor—their eyes met and Jamil only gave a small nod in greeting before he busied himself with arranging his belongings.
The rest of Jamil’s day went on without much issue. As soon as afternoon training concluded, he was surprised to see Kalim waiting for him so they could walk back to Scarabia together. The conversation was light, nothing noteworthy. Kalim knew how to speak for two people, he could make a conversation out of anything and carry it for seemingly forever. The problem only started when he would get caught up in his excitement, and since Jamil was talking about Kalim, this happened on a regular basis. Complaining about it wouldn’t amount to anything.
As he changed into his dorm uniform, his phone buzzed. You tended to message right before going through the mirror. The gesture of…courtesy started to make less sense the more your visits became a regular thing. It was still convenient, don’t get him wrong. Though… maybe it was just a bit weird, the more he thought about it.
He read over his reply twice and sent it before going to meet you at the dorm’s entrance.
[...]
“Henchman, y’have to try this!” Grim hopped off the kitchen’s tabletop and trotted over to you.
“Grim, we have to head back before six so I can tea—” Your sentence was cut off by the fire-monster pushing his half-eaten pita wrap into your face. You took a bite and made a pleased sound before going, “wait Grim it’s too spicy—!”
Jamil handed you a glass of water. He saw Grim pour an obscene amount of sauce over his serving. Not that you would know, having just returned from replacing the vacuum cleaner. He would’ve insisted that he should be the one to do it, but Kalim and Grim started bugging him for something to eat. And Grim, unbridled menace that he was, wouldn’t shut up unless his demands were met.
Kalim chimed into the conversation, “are you going back that soon?”
“Yeah?” You knocked a fist against your chest, stifling another coughing fit. “Well, I—we don’t wanna impose… so we’ll leave early.” You took another drink of water then wiped at your mouth with the back of your hand.
“Aww, but I don’t wanna study Astrology…”
“But I’m the one who has to teach you, you rascal.” Your hand ruffled the top of his head.
Grim backed away from you to leap up onto the table. Not that it added much to his height. “Myargh, don’ call me that! Y’don’t even understand it either!” When you pointed an exasperated stare at the fire-monster, he continued to protest, “but it’s Friday! Studying during the weekends should be illegal!”
“I’m sorry, we’ll start getting out of your hair in a bit…” You turned to the both of them, sheepish and apologetic.
“No, no it’s okay.” Kalim waved off your words cheerfully. “You were saying something about Astrology…? Are you having trouble with that class?” He took the last serving of pita wrap and passed it to you.
Jamil took the empty plate and brought it to the sink.
Accepting the snack, you winced. “Well… u-um, every class has its challenges, you know?”
“Liar! Y’were cryin’ snot all over our worksheet!”
Embarrassment filled your voice. “Grim!”
“Well, if it’s Astrology that’s giving you trouble, then you’re in the right place!” Kalim gestured with a wide sweep of his arms. “Did you know that you can see the stars really easily here? You could stay over for dinner and—” he paused, then his smile widened even more.
Jamil knew what that expression meant, that meant the dorm leader was going to suggest something outlandish.
“—we could take the flying carpet! I did that with Jamil when I was also having a hard time with that class in my first year. It’ll be fun, don’t you think?”
Jamil kept his head down, focused on the plates in front of him, the faint smell of dish soap, the cool running water against his hands. But he couldn’t tear his ears away from the conversation.
“Um… but curfew…”
“You could sleep over for the night!”
“Sweet~! We really lucked ou—ack!” Grim’s cheer was cut off by you, continuing to decline on his part.
“No, it’s really fine, Grim ‘nd me’ll start leaving right now—”
“Don’t worry about that! We have plenty of spare rooms, don’t we?” He looked to Jamil for confirmation. The unbridled excitement in Kalim’s irises sent a wave of irritation through him.
A strained laugh left your throat. “Um, I appreciate the invitation, but respectfully, I must turn it down…” you paused, considering what to say, “...seeing as how none of us have brought overnight clothes…”
“Whyre you suddenly talking like that? You don’t need to be formal with us. I insist!”
“I really don’t think it’s okay for us to overstay—” You tried protesting for the third time.
“Lots of people sleep over at Scarabia, it’s no big deal!” Yes, Jamil could remember the times where he found Silver slumped over in a pile of pillows from the lounge, the several instances where Floyd invited himself to stay over “for funsies,” and of course, he couldn’t leave out the bi-monthly Light Music Club sleepovers with Lilia and Cater.
“Um…”
“Stop scruffin’ me, henchman! Kalim’s got a point, doesn’t he?”
Kalim’s voice softened. “Look, you’re practically one of us at this point. It’s fine, really.”
That. That unwavering honesty in his words and how it easily spilled from him. It was careless how freely and earnestly he spoke. But above all, it was enviable. Only a young rich heir could find the capacity to be that open and kind and generous and Jamil could feel a headache pinching at his temple. He placed the cleaned dishes on the drying rack. It took every ounce of his self-control not to set them aside with a clatter.
You didn’t seem to have any rebuttals prepared.
Jamil discarded his irritation, easily plastering on the neutral expression he always carried. “Do you have your books and notes?”
You nodded.
“Make sure to bring it with you after dinner. I’ll tutor you both.” The sensation of having everyone’s eyes on him was uncomfortable against his skin.
“...alright.” Maybe the same could be said for you. “C’mon Grim.”
Now that the kitchen was mostly cleaned up, he needed to prepare a room for you and Grim, find a spare dorm uniform in good condition, then go back to the kitchen to prepare dinner. His internal list of responsibilities to work through shifted to make space for this extra work.
The moment of discomfort didn’t last for long though, Jamil refused to let it linger. Because if it lingered, then that meant he would have to figure out why his irritation was being overtaken with uneasiness. And if he thought about it more then he’d have to…
He stole a glance at you, keeping up with his pace. For once you weren’t trailing behind him like you usually did when you visited Scarabia. You looked like you were half-listening to whatever Grim and Kalim were talking about.
Articulate as he was, he couldn’t name the expression you were wearing. Whatever it was, there was a deeper emotion to it and Jamil found it hard to look at.
[...]
“Look, look I’m matching with you guys now.” You rested a hand on your hip. After a few beats, your expression faltered. “I didn’t wear anything backwards, did I?”
“You didn’t.” Save for the golden accessories that every student from Scarabia wore, the uniform seemed to fit you well. Not too loose or uncomfortably tight, the hem of the vest and undershirt were neatly smoothed out. Just like how you presented yourself in the NRC uniform. “It looks good,” he said.
“Really? It feels super comfy. Well…” you paused, looking down at yourself. “I guess the belt is just a bit long…”
“You can shorten it by doing this.” He stepped closer to you, taking hold of the trailing end and fixing it so that it wouldn’t trail down to your ankles. But in adjusting the belt, part of the undershirt had risen up. The habit of fixing Kalim’s clothes kicked in before he could catch himself.
Jamil’s hands brushed against your hips as he gently tugged the hem of the undershirt back down. He double-checked the belt and smoothed it out once more. At the sudden contact, you tensed up, breath hitching quietly. Several sheets of your epherimedes slipped from your notes as your arms came up by reflex, placing a sort of makeshift barrier between him and you.
Thankfully, instead of mentioning the proximity—the breach of personal space—you asked, "where's Kalim? I thought he said he was going with us."
Jamil picked up the fallen sheets of paper, passing them to you. "He turned in for the night." Well, Kalim was intent on staying up late, but Jamil had already tried waking him up once. To which the dorm leader responded by burrowing deeper into his blankets. Jamil motioned for you to follow him.
“So did Grim. I told him that we were still going to study but…” You sighed, shoulders slumping forward a bit. “...I guess I’ll just make sure to tutor him tomorrow morning.”
It was late in the evening now. The moon hung high in the sky, an upside-down bowl. The sound of your footsteps echoed through the empty hallways. Filling in the silence as Jamil weighed his words. “You’re very diligent.”
You laughed. But the sound was derisive, directed—stabbing—at yourself. “Diligence doesn’t mean much when you earn poor results.”
He thought back to what he overheard in the library. “Don’t be hard on yourself.” To his surprise, his words didn’t feel the same as the empty platitudes he would regurgitate for Kalim. “This isn’t my first time tutoring Astrology.”
And it would reflect badly on his dorm if he couldn’t recall what he learned in the first year, the afterthought needed to be there. To remind him of his responsibility. Because now his mind was catching up to the fact that it was only going to be you and him, and that thought wasn’t supposed to be so… bothersome.
"Are you really okay with it?” He knew that you were talking about having to be an impromptu tutor, your words held a hint of guilt and concern. And even if a part of him was aware that it came from a genuine place, it only made him feel small.
The automatic response came out, albeit a bit more curt and clipped than he intended. “I’m used to it.”
You didn’t say anything more, only muttering a quiet ‘oh, I see.’
The walk to the treasury was quiet, and your silence spoke volumes. It was as if he could hear the gears in your head turning. Despite your reserved nature, you were a mediator through and through, just like Kalim was.
If he said that he wasn’t okay with being volunteered to tutor others, that wouldn’t exempt him from being made to do so either way. He didn’t have a choice in the first place. The least you could do was make the ordeal less painstaking than it already was for him.
Jamil’s hand rested on the doorknob of the room. “Look, the sooner we go, the sooner we can get this done. You can manage that, can’t you?”
The guilt on your features gave way to a determined nod. “Okay, I won’t waste your time,” you promised.
He thought back to the pinky promise you first made. And he pushed the door to the treasury open. “Don’t expect me to hold your hand through the subject though.”
“I know that!” Your voice was pitched high from embarrassment. “You won’t have to start right from the beginning!”
At least you were standing behind him, you wouldn’t have to see the startings of a grin cracking across his face.
“You aren’t afraid of heights, are you?” Jamil asked as he searched around for the flying carpet. The magical artifact greeted you both with a wave of its tassels. It followed the both of you out of the treasury, curling and twisting in mid-air.
You stared. “...oh…we’re gonna fly…”
“Yes—wait, what did you think we were going to do?” Now that you were all outside the main building, the carpet laid itself flat on the ground. The cool night air was a complete reversal of the day’s heat.
“I don’t know! I-I thought Scarabia had some special observatory I wasn’t aware of!”
He gave you an exasperated look. “Are you sure you’re okay with flying?”
“Yes, I’m…I’m not scared of heights… only falling and breaking my bones…” You took a seat next to him. Your hold on your notes was tight enough to crease the edges of paper that jutted out.
Jamil supposed that you were saying that to convince yourself. Judging by the way that your eyes were squeezed shut, his suspicions were only further confirmed. He guided the carpet to slowly ascend, flying high enough so that your view of the sky wouldn’t be obscured by Scarabia’s buildings.
Your trepidation melted away as you took in the night sky. "Woah, the star maps don't do this view any justice…" you breathed.
"Don't get sidetracked now."
"Right, right. Sorry, um…" You opened the textbook and started rattling off what part of the lesson you were at. You showed him the graded worksheets and your notes.
As Jamil listened to you, he read over your handwriting. Somewhat messy, but still readable. Granted, while there were some missing segments in your solutions, you seemed to make sure to include the final answer. Was it a way to challenge yourself instead of copying another classmate’s solution? Or were you intent on figuring it out all by yourself? He guessed it was the latter.
The both of you pored over the material. Redoing the problems you got wrong, filling in the parts of the discussion that you missed. Jamil noticed however that you had trouble comparing the actual night sky with the maps you brought along.
“Wait, which star?” Your brow furrowed as you tried to follow the direction he was pointing at.
He tipped your chin up, keeping his other arm parallel to your gaze. “It’s a dim constellation, so you have to look at the surroundings to be able to spot it. ”
A short, frustrated exhale escaped you. “I still can’t find it.”
“Keep trying.” From his perspective, the end of the star pattern rested just barely atop his fingertip.
He could feel the short baby hairs framing the side of your face brush up against his arm as you continued to search for the constellation. Eventually your confusion dissipated and your eyes lit up with recognition “Oh, I see it now! So then that means…” You looked back down at your notes, flipped through the pages, then started hastily writing down a few messy calculations. All the while indifferent to the fact that his hand was still resting on your shoulder.
“Is this correct?” You tilted your notes towards him.
He scanned what you wrote. “...you used the wrong time zone.”
You swore. “Ugh, I keep forgetting about that.” Your eraser scratched at the specific part of the mistake, making the needed corrections. “Are the advanced classes just as math-filled?” you asked as you redid the solution. “I feel like we’re almost doing rocket science.”
“No, they’re more reliant on magical ability. Scrying, cartomancy, even astrology, when done right can be powerful tools to guide a magician.” So far, so good. He noted as he skimmed your handwriting. “The better you are, the more vivid your visions. Or so they say.”
“Do you believe in that? Things like seeing the future and all that?”
Of course not, he held back a scoff. His entire fate was neatly laid out in front of him by his parents and their ancestors. His destiny rested in the palm of a naive heir full of ignorance and misplaced kindness. His home, his own family, and the prestige they carried was a flimsily-disguised birdcage. Why, he wanted nothing more than to carve out his own path with his bare hands, to just up and leave everything behind. Fate, chance, and destiny be damned.
Instead he settled on this for a short answer. “I think it’s foolish to hinge everything on fate.”
“I thought you’d say something like that,” you laughed. “Rational, practical, down-to-earth Jamil.” Not one bit of the sound felt demeaning, and there’s a note of something…fond in the way you said his name.
Too close. “Don’t tell me you believe otherwise.” He pulled away from you and leaned back on his palms. The magic that powered the carpet thrummed underneath his fingertips, steady as the ebb and flow of the ocean’s waves. He pointed his gaze towards the half-moon floating in a sea of stars, adamantly turning away from your crescent-eyed smile. His stomach felt uneasy, it was as if he was helplessly suspended in between two moons.
“It’s not that I completely believe in it or the other way around, but I came from a magicless world so I gotta…” You hummed thoughtfully as you flipped through your ephemerides. “...think of it as something real now.”
The two of you lapsed into silence, accompanied by the sound of the wind and the flutter of the carpet. Was it supposed to feel this comfortable, being in another person’s space and having them in his own? With this stillness, the both of you were no different from the celestial objects painting the night sky. You were deeply engrossed in your work, oblivious to what your words were stirring.
The scratch of your pencil against paper stopped before his thoughts spiraled out of control. “Okay… is this right?” He thinks he’s composed himself enough to be able to spare a glance.
“Mm, it’s right.” His hand toyed with the edge of his hood. The triumphant gleam in your eyes was blinding.
“So, it’s good?”
He flipped through the textbook then tapped at another sample problem. “Do this one next, then we’ll see.”
“What? That wasn’t discussed in class!”
“It’s like the last problem, you’ll figure it out.”
Despite your initial complaints, the rest of the tutoring went by relatively well. You weren’t merely echoing what he was saying. Save for some minor mistakes, you seemed less daunted by the subject compared to before. As long as you took your time working through the problems, Jamil was sure that you would do well enough. But just before you descended back to the dorm’s main building, he had you write down the lesson’s main points. Just to be sure. You were still going to be responsible for teaching Grim in the morning, after all.
“Solid ground, thank God! I was about to freeze up there.” A shiver passed through your body despite your light-hearted laugh. As you were about to walk past him, Jamil grabbed your wrist.
The tips of your fingers were cold. “Why didn’t you say anything?” The tone he used must’ve come out sharper than intended, you flinched before answering.
“Well, because we were already there and you said…the sooner we went, the sooner we’d finish…” you reasoned weakly.
He sighed. “Give me your other hand.”
“I’m fine, really! Just give me a sec—” Your protests fell silent as he shushed you and cupped your hands in his.
Warmth spread from his palms to yours, a simple heating charm. Your hands relaxed in his hold. A stubborn part of him chalked it up to the needed change in temperature.
“Better?” His own cheeks felt warm. It’s the residual magic, he rationalized, the fact that he didn’t use his pen to cast it.
You gave a small nod in response. Your gaze continued to stare at your linked hands.
The edge of your palms were rough, hardened from work. If he shifted his hold, he could feel the bump of a callus on the side of your favored hand.
He let go. “I still need to put the carpet back in the treasury.”
"...no." The word was uttered so quietly that he strained to hear it.
"What?"
Your head snapped up. The moment you made eye contact with each other, Jamil noticed your eyes were blown wide. As if you were a deer caught in the headlights—you reached forwards and yanked his hood over his head. His vision went dark, tearing a surprised noise from his throat. He heard the sound of the drawstrings being pulled taut, followed by the sensation of you pushing him and turning to run away. He stumbled backwards.
Fumbling for the drawstrings of his uniform’s hood, he bit back a curse.
The strings were double-knotted.
[...]
Like every other person, Jamil had dreams. Of reliving certain childhood memories, of being chased and feeling like he was running through water, of having his teeth fall out. Once upon a time, he dreamt of being able to travel around the world once he grew up.
He doesn’t immediately recognize this as a dream. For all he knew, this was one of his usual days at Night Raven College. Robotically going through the motions, running to and fro at Kalim’s behest, reigning in his emotions, staying average and mediocre.
The sound of his class lectures sounded faraway, as if the professors were speaking through water. But as the day continued, he could also hear bits and pieces of your voice. One-sided scraps of conversations, you calling out for your friends, the sound of your laughter ringing in his ears, they all stood out against the muffled voices and hazy figures populating the school. Every time he searched, he would only catch a glimpse of your back as you entered a different classroom or the end of your ponytail as you would round a corner. And just before he catch up to you, he would only find a red feather lying on the ground.
It was as if you were a ghost.
He had other things to focus on. He made his way to Scarabia’s mirror and stepped through the glass, arriving at his old room in the servant’s quarters.
Why was he here? Everything was where he left it, untouched and undisturbed. But that did little to tamp down on his rising unease. He turned back to the door and found it locked. The windows were also locked, he was trapped—
The walls fell away to reveal an intricate and ornate birdcage, constructed out of gold, tall enough to reach the ceiling. No longer was he standing on solid ground, he was a little bird standing on a small perch now. No better than the numerous ornaments that decorated the Asim estate.
The door to the room opened revealing you. Dressed in the fine robes of his hometown, golden accessories decorated your wrists, neck, and ears. Your hair was adorned with a single, red macaw’s feather. You looked no different from a noble. A vision to behold. You unlocked the cage and carried him out. He was small enough to fit in your palms.
You gave him a soft smile and smoothed down his feathers. His wings were pinned to his sides but you were careful not to press too hard against the fragile bones. “You weren’t meant to be caged, little one,” you said, walking towards the open window.
No, he couldn’t fly, he couldn’t soar. He couldn’t do anything except flail about helplessly in your hold. Useless birdsong spilled from his throat. Each step you took brought him closer and closer to that endless blue sky. He didn’t dare look down.
He could feel the wind now. A light gust that would’ve felt refreshing now sent a spike of adrenaline through his veins. The only thing separating him from the ground was your gentle hold. His breathing quickened, don’t let me go, please don’t let me go—
You were speaking but he couldn’t make out any of the words. Your cupped palms dipped once before throwing him into the blue sky.
And then he was falling down, down, down.
Flapping his clipped wings.
Wind rushing against him.
Blood roaring in his ears.
Screaming mutely until his throat felt raw.
He was going to hit the ground and break all his bones and die why was it taking so long—
Jamil’s eyes cracked open. The first thing he saw was the darkened ceiling of his bedroom. He was still in Scarabia. He sat up and scrubbed a hand over his face. A glance at his phone screen told him he woke up two hours before his alarm was set to ring.
Might as well get started for the day.
The dream would be quickly forgotten. He would go through the latter classes of the day with a building headache. Even Kalim would notice his discomfort, but his attempts at concern would be waved off.
It was just a dream. And he knew better than to dream.

13 books tag game, tagged by @amemoryofwot and @asha-mage (incidentally I typoed that as "amemeryofwot" which would be an excellent sideblog concept, maybe snatch that one up?)
1) Last book I read:
Mistress of the Empire by Raymond Feist & Janny Wurts (at the time I started filling this out, anyway… I've been working on this ask for several days) This whole trilogy was a delight, thanks to @sixth-light for telling me I would love Mara!
2) A book I recommend:
The Best of All Possible Worlds by Karen Lord. It's a quiet little road trip romance exploring grief & diaspora, in a setting that I can best describe as 'if Madeline L'Engle had been in charge of Star Trek worldbuilding'. (If you squint you can see analogues to humans, Vulcans, Romulans, and Orions, but the tone is reminiscent of L'Engle.) There are sequels that follow different characters but this is the first one and it works as a standalone. I feel like it has a lovely light touch on some intense subjects and I appreciate the way each chapter works as a separate story while still fitting into the whole.
3) A book that I couldn’t put down:
I remember staying up past my bedtime for The Monster Baru Cormorant, I think? At the very least, that's where we first get my beloved Tau-Indi, and the pacing on the climax is kinda weird, about 2/3rds in, so I think I would have read through to it without stopping. I don't know if this question is supposed to be about compellingness or pacing? Probably compellingness, I think I'm weirdly fixated on structure when I read things. But sometimes I think books you 'can't put down' are at least partially that way because there's no damn place to breathe, and I don't entirely approve.
4) A book I’ve read twice (or more)
I see from literally everyone who has tagged me in this that this is one of the two free spaces for Wheel of Time, but I'll switch it up: Lifeboats by Diane Duane. It's set between Young Wizards 9 & 10 and deals with an emergency response team permanently evacuating an entire alien population from a natural disaster (RIP their moon and also consequently their planet). This novel is a huge comfort read for me and is undoubtedly the Young Wizards work I've read the most. I don't really know how to explain what it means to me… I wish I had had it when I was living and working in a foreign country.
5) A book on my TBR
A friend recommended Cahokia Jazz (in general, not to me specifically) and it sounds SO MUCH like my jam. I suspect if I can't find it at my library soon, I'll end up buying the ebook.
6) A book I’ve put down
Can't think of a recent one, but if I hadn't forced myself to finish reading it because it was a Hugo Award nominee, I would have DNF'd Project Hail Mary.
7) A book on my wish list
I wish for more Baru Cormorant but I also literally cannot imagine how Seth is going to write that next book. So like, I'm girding my loins for Baru #4 either 15 years from now or never.
8) A favourite book from childhood
When I was really little I loved the Berenstain Bear books and my mom HATED that I loved them ("they were so badly written!" - my mom the children's librarian) but she bought them for me anyway. That's love.
9) A book you would give a friend
You all need to read Middlemarch by George Eliot. I don't care what stage of life you're at, you will find something resonant in it. Read it now, and read it again in 20 years. Give it to recent high school grads. Give it as a wedding present. Take it to the beach. BUT I am specifically recommending it to the WoT contingent, because the characters are so good!
10) The most books you own by a single author
It's actually either Diane Duane or Terry Pratchett, and DD's probably winning because I don't have every Pratchett book but I do have almost every DD book including tie-in novels.
11) A nonfiction book you own
Four Lost Cities: A Secret History of the Urban Age by Annalee Newitz. I don't read a ton of nonfiction but the writing is very engaging and I think cities are neat.
12) what are you currently reading
I'm between books but I just finished The Imposition of Unnecessary Obstacles (as I am writing this part several days after question 1). I didn't like it as much as the first one, The Mimicking of Known Successes, but I think it's just a taste thing. I didn't like being in Pleiti's POV very much, her overthinking is too much like mine and it alternately stresses me out and makes me angry, because I can see the assumptions/unhelpful thought patterns but I can't fix them. Obviously, to draw that reaction from me the characters are well-defined, and I like everything else about the series, I just hope it goes back to Mossa's POV.
13) what are you planning on reading next?
WHEN WILL 'RED SIDE STORY' BY JASPER FFORDE REACH MY HOUSE??? I have been waiting like 15 years for this sequel to Shades of Grey and the entire point of preordering it was so I could have it ASAP. I could have walked into a bookstore on May 9th and walked out with it, and instead I won't get it until tomorrow. >:(
I think I am supposed to add a shelfie? The organizing principles(s) of this shelf in my bedroom are very weird…. Classics/adventure, fantasy, popular science writing? Someday I need to reshelve everything in the house according to size/favoriteness/genre/theme/vibes (in that order) but I haven’t felt like it.
Tumblr media
I think pretty much everyone I was going to tag already got tagged, so whoever want to do it, go ahead!

Heeey, I'd like to make an ask if you don't mind but first I just have to say that I really liked the fic you wrote on alucard, I thought the relationship dynamic was so cute *internal screaming* So I was wondering if you could do a modern au fic with a female monster hunter s/o who's like batman (uses their brains over brawn but definitely knows how to fight) and she works together with alucard on monster hunting missions(if it's possible to make it Genya Arikado version from the aria of sorrow/dawn of sorrow it would be really cool as there's not a lot of content with that but it's fine if not.)
Thanks!
Mr. and Mrs. Tepes (Alucard x Reader)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Alucard x Reader
Word Count: 1.8k
Summary: A slightly rushed "Where are you?" greets you as soon as you plug in your Bluetooth. You hear the clang of metal followed by gurgling growls on the other end. "I am on my way," you press harder on the gas as you speed to the site of conflict.
AN: Hi, thanks for requesting such an interesting ask. I am not familiar with the Genya Arikado version that you mentioned but I tried doing some research to pull up something decent. I hope you like it and please forgive any cannon inaccuracies I'm a noob.
Tumblr media
"It's just going to be a bunch of mindless skeletons," he said.
"I can handle it myself, he said,” you grumble as you furiously pull back your hair into a tight braid as you try to locate your crossbow.
You chuck your weapons in your trusted Audi. He better be damn grateful for this. You would have never put your darling Audi8 through this rough treatment, but alas, the situation called for it.
Giving your resort one last parting look, you speed your way through isolated roads. Speed limits and laws jump out of the window at 2 am in the morning.
A slightly rushed "Where are you?" greets you as soon as you plug in your Bluetooth. You hear the clang of metal followed by gurgling growls on the other end. "I am on my way," you press harder on the gas as you speed to the site of conflict.
It had been a no-work vacation that you had somehow convinced Adrian to take. After weeks of pleading, he agreed to spend a week of nothingness except for relaxing spas and soothing hot springs in Hokkaido.
You should have known better. Honestly, you had no idea when he snuck out to 'explore' the land. In his plan to be discreet, your very smart fiancé thought it wise to venture into an unknown territory without appropriate weapons or ammunition.
It had been too late by the time you caught on, and your dampir fiancé replied with cryptic texts that told nothing about his whereabouts. While you were busy freaking out about your missing fiancé, Adrian was out there living his best life, scouting Japanese forests.
Giving up on the cocky bastard, you resorted to destressing through the amazing bath at your disposal. And he did text you about how he did not need help fighting mere annoyances.
Next thing you know, just as you undress to hop into water that is just the right temperature, Adrian hits you with a "Need backup" text with the coordinates of his location.
Now here you are, very much away from your therapeutic bath and herbal tea. Parking your baby outside the forest parameters, you double-check your Bluetooth. "Take cover, I'll be there soon," you speak into the mic as you huff with the weight of weapons on your back.
In a matter of seconds, you transform yourself into a killing machine loaded with weapons of every kind at your disposal. Pulling Adrian's location on your watch, you start your trek through the forest or, to better phrase it, through the trees.
While Adrian fought head-on, you preferred to catch your opponents off guard. You lingered in shadows, waiting for a chance to strike. Maybe it was a habit from your past as an assassin that never left you.
Long ago, before you met Adrian, you fought for people who bought others' lives with the money they were born into. You sliced throats, spiked drinks, sniped unsuspecting targets, fabricated accidents. Adrian wasn't in your life back then. It remains a past you wish to forget, but you don't deserve to forget it, not after all the blood you have on your hands. This is your penance, to remember and live with your dark past.
But now, as you blend into the cover of the trees, your past helps you spot Adrian faster than ever. You find him crouched behind a rock. Great, he actually took cover. It must be pretty serious then. As if on cue, he looks up, and you see relief settle into his features.
From your vantage point, you spot about two merman and around twenty skeletons. Adrian could have dealt with this mix... if only Mr. Smartass had enough weapons on him. You could shoot some from your spot, but first, you need to equip Adrian with some ammunition. So, you soundlessly make your way to join Adrian behind the abnormally large rock.
The first thing you do after reaching him is to look for any possible injuries on him. Adrian, for once, lets you do your job with the patience of a saint, at least for him. After making sure that your fiancé won't bleed to death as you fight, you wordlessly hand him refills and the crossbow.
Neither of you speaks about the atrocious number of daggers in your pack. From the look on Adrian's face, you're pretty sure he's dying to present his reasons for the adventure, but it will have to wait.
Tumblr media
Adrian feels all the exhaustion leave his body as his senses focus on your hands tying a bandolier around his waist. Your movements are efficient and quick. You separate the poisoned dagger from the normal ones.
Even in such an unexpected situation, you remain undaunted. You scheme and plan, but you do not cower. That's what Adrian loves about you. You're brave. Brave enough to accept your past, your flaws, and live with them.
It's easy to forget the hideous monsters on the other side of the rock as you both huddle close under the clear skies. The cool night breeze sways a wayward strand that escaped your braid, a sign that you probably rushed on your way here.
"Eeek," Adrian squeaks as you pull him closer by the grip on his collar. He's seriously too old to blush like a schoolgirl, but his cheeks heat up when he realizes how close your face is to his, and his eyes meet yours.
"You better make it up for all this," you whisper next to his ear, and Adrian feels the warmth of your breath against his skin. Barely holding back the shudder that runs through him, Adrian nods silently.
With a satisfied smile on your face, you pull back, only to lean in again and steal a kiss before disappearing into the cover of the trees. Your message is clear as Adrian tightens his grip on the gun in his hand. Reeling from the distraction, Adrian tries to focus on your concealed footsteps and the obnoxiously loud monsters on the other end.
Adrian steps into the clearing where the monsters stand, waiting for him. Hidden in a tree, you provide cover as he approaches the two Merman. It's a well-practiced dance, a complex routine of taking the lead and handing it off to the other when needed.
As he fights the monsters, who seem to follow a repetitive pattern of overused attacks, Adrian reminisces about the first time he met you.
It was a grand hall, and he was disguised as Genya Arikado. It was the birthday celebration of a powerful politician's son. The most prestigious individuals in town had gathered to celebrate the man-child's twenty-seventh birthday.
Genya Arikado had been invited by a colleague who he worked with under his disguise's alias. The party had reached a point where Adrian was trying to discern possible faces and shapes in the botched ceiling paint.
Lost in thought, he was looking up when he bumped into another person, causing them to fall upon the impact. "Oof!" Adrian snapped back to reality and quickly apologized, his eyes landing on you.
Red. He saw red when he saw you. Dressed in the deepest shade of red, you sat there, glaring at him. "Watch where you're going, will you?" you muttered as you stood up, ignoring the hand he offered you. In a flurry of motion, you disappeared, blending into the sea of bored people.
Throughout the rest of the evening, Adrian searched for you or any sign of your red dress, but he failed. It was as if the entire interaction, lasting only a few seconds (though it felt longer to Adrian), had never happened.
Adrian's mind was consumed by thoughts of you and the fleeting encounter. Doubt gnawed at his thoughts. Had he truly imagined you? Had his longing for companionship manifested itself in a vivid yet illusory encounter? He replayed the interaction in his mind over and over, dissecting every detail, desperately trying to grasp onto any evidence that would confirm the existence of that brief connection.
The memory of your delicate fragrance lingered in his senses, adding to his confusion. It was a fragrance unlike any he had encountered before—subtle yet captivating, with floral and citrus undertones that momentarily transported him to a world beyond the confines of the party. The scent became intertwined with the image of you, deepening the mystery surrounding your presence.
As the night wore on, Adrian's frustration grew. He wondered if he had been destined to cross paths with you only for a fleeting moment, forever chasing an apparition that could never be captured. The questions echoed in his mind, haunting him with the possibility that he might never find the answers.
Yet, despite the uncertainty and the absence of tangible evidence, Adrian couldn't shake the feeling that the encounter had been real. The emotions stirred within him, the electricity in the air, and the inexplicable connection he had felt—all pointed to a profound encounter that defied rational explanation.
Later in the chaotic night, when the guests rushed out, Adrian found himself reluctantly leaving the hall. Throughout the night, he had been unable to find you. Even his enhanced senses had failed to spot any sign of your presence. The party ended abruptly when the politician's son had to be carried out on a stretcher due to an allergic reaction to a shellfish starter.
Waiting for the valet to bring his car, Adrian paused as the valet got out to offer him the keys. A familiar fragrance flooded his senses. Standing in front of him was you, dressed in a valet uniform with a seamless disguise. Smiling with a knowing look in your eyes, you handed him the keys and rushed back to work as a guy, seemingly your manager, called out for you.
Back in the present, Adrian tackled the last surviving skeleton, realizing he was almost done. From the corner of his eye, he searched for you, wherever you might have ended up during the fight. Lost in handling the final skeleton and looking for you, he didn't notice another set of footsteps approaching.
He suddenly became aware of the presence of another surviving skeleton running toward him and prepared to dodge the attack. However, it never came. The skeleton crumpled down into dust as you tackled it, jumping out of the literal sky.
Standing in the now quiet clearing, Adrian allowed his shoulders to relax. All the tension from the past hours left his body as he observed you collecting arrows from the ground.
"Make haste, Mr. Tepes. You've got a bath to run once we get back," you said, bundling all your beloved knives into their designated packs.
The slight smirk on your face revealed that Adrian would be running more than one bath. His list of chores had just increased exponentially for the week. Sighing in dismay, Adrian cracked his back as he followed you out of the forest.

20 Fic Writer Quesions
First, thank you @singeart and @mytardisisparked for tagging me!. I did a set of these last year and it was fun to see how my answers have changed since then!
How many works do you have on Ao3?
61
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
1.6 million and counting!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Star Trek Voyager
Star Trek Prodigy
Sailor Moon
Harry Potter
Madam Secretary
Ive debated writing SwanQueen for a long time but by the time I had the energy and time to write, I'd lost interest in the show. I might rewatch and come back to it one day...
I have thought about writing Wynonna Earp or Tamora Pierce universe fanfiction but have yet to get an idea that grabs me. I like to find things i want to fix and it's hard when the source material is perfection.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
The Parent Trap (305)
Sailor Moon H Order of the Phoenix (289)
Sailor Moon H Half Blood Prince (222)
Eden's Deception (167)
Out of Reach (150)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I try to! although if I'm busy or feeling down it can take me a while. Sometimes I forget.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I still think What Even is 3 Minutes takes the cake. Or I'll be Your First if You'll be my Last
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I Heard the Comm on Christmas Morn and Parent Trap
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Unfortunately I've gotten hate on fics since I started writing them... and it's become just something I expect to happen. Sometimes it's funny. Sometimes it confuses me. Sometimes it makes me sad. It really depends...
The memorable haters:
There was the delightful Fanfiction.net reviewer who got pissed i was "making everybody gay" (that was funny actually). I forget if they were the same person who flamed me when Mcgonagall and Hooch kissed under some mistletoe. I digress. They thought queering up the canon was like sinful or whatever. I was delighted to disagree and make the story even queerer.
Another person cussed me out for magically restraining Sailor Plutos time travel powers so my plot would work and for making her have feelings about it. aparently mad the senshi were not all powerful deus exmachinas who never feel feelings... That one stung. That was the reason I left FFN.
Hate because in Sailor Moon H, Harry Potter was not the main character.
Hate that I made a magic bio baby for the magical lesbians. (I can't have a biobaby with my wife irl, can't I at least let the fantasy girlies have one!)
Hate for including C/7 in a story
...I wouldn't call it hate for the fic but I have had an uncomfortable amount of commenters who hate on Chakotay any time I have him involved with Seven / don't have him grovel to Kathryn / really any time I let him advocate for how he's been hurt... at first comments like this stressed me out because i worried i had not written the character sufficiently sympathetic. But then Parent Trap breached containment and I got enough comments to be able to see I had definitely written the character fine... it was just that some people were always just rooting for a "Chakotay falls over himself to apologize to Janeway for not immediately dating her" storyline that... I'm not sorry 😅 I'm never going to write that. The older I get the more I feel like both of J/C just need therapy! They've been through so much trauma. Their feelings are valid (yes, even for other people).
Parent Trap breaching containment also meant that when I hit an irl rut and couldnt get in the writing headspace for a bit, a bunch of - sincerely, well meaning - fans got into their heads to start a commenting campaign to get me to update. I heard about it and panicked (i had bad experiences that year of getting people who only commented "update soon" and those conversely stressed me out and made me not want to write - I love fic writing for the conversations and community... so it made me feel like readers thought i was just a content vending machine). so just the thought of potentially getting an avalanche of guests, well meaning or not, begging me to update made me lock commenting until the fic was done. I wound up deciding after that that since "update soon" requests were becoming a lot more frequent that I'd consider before posting whether getting them would hurt my ability to finish. So most of the time now if I know a fic is going to reach a bigger potential community, I don't start posting it until it's almost done. That has had some upsides! (Im less dependent on positive feedback for motivation now!) and some downsides (no one comments on my fics with their theories anymore) but on a whole, a good decision.
Immediately after finishing Parent Trap I wrote Fever and got this amazing guest comment from someone who said (paraphrasing cuz i'm too busy to go find it) "Youre better than this. how dare you write this filth. J/C are better than this" that one had me laughing for days. But the comment did prompt me to create a second account later when I wrote a tentacle fic. At the time I worried i'd get a ton of similar flame comments from people who were subscribed to my main for other types of fic... but I am even feeling like that's unnecessary now. I write what I write! Yes, some of it is really dirty, weird smut. I'm not sorry.
Currently any time I post a Threshold AU fic an anon drops into my comments section in order to call me "Sick" and "Deranged"... they make me so sad I don't even make a quippy reply. I just delete them. I write that universe for my own wish fulfillment... Someday (soon, hopefully) I'm gonna have kids. And I am going to have to have conversations with them about who their biological dad is. Why they look like one mom and not the other, whether their non bio family love them even if theyre not blood related. I might have a kid who feels different from everyone else because they're queer or they're neurodivergent or they're some new alienating feeling I am totally unprepared for. and I'll need to help them navigate that.. Writing about hybrid salamander kids getting raised in a blended family is FUN. But more importantly... it helps me practice those situations. It comforts me to know that if the characters can figure this out in the AU then I can figure this out in real life! What the hell is sick and deranged about that!?
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I write all sorts of smut. I post the stuff that doesn't totally mortify me once i've gotten out of whatever mood had me writing the smut in the first place.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I have exactly two crossovers to my name: Sailor Delta and Sailor Moon H. I think on the basis of word count alone Sailor Moon H (>500,000) is definitely the craziest.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I consider the unlicensed use of the AO3 archive for ChatGPT and similar LLMs theft. (and there are several court cases pending that are also seeking to address whether it is legally theft as it pertains to published fiction and newspapers). The canon creators of the fandoms I write for aren't allowed to make money by using uncredited ideas pulled from my fanfiction (just like I am not allowed to make money from writing fic with their copyrighted settings and characters) and i continue to be apalled that ChatGPT and other LLMs think they can get away with using others copyrighted ideas without permission. Especially that they can take advantage of people who cant profit off their own work.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No but i would be open to it!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! Once with @magdalenejaneway, once with @jellybeansarecool and once with @trekflower and all three were fantastic!
Most of what I write for Threshold AU is also increasingly collaborated on a great deal by the AU creators and a few other folks. It's been going for over 2 years now and doing that more and more has enabled us all to drop more references to previous fics and to create a more cohesive body of fic for the AU. in general its just been so fun and fulfilling to make these stories with other people who are as invested in the characters as me and it just fills me with joy. I'm really grateful for you guys.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
On the one hand J/C have inspired over 50 fics, But on the other I have also been loving Sailor Moon and those ships since before I knew what fandom or shipping were. And really the only reason J/C inspire more fic is that all the sailor moon characters got a happy ending.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I never want to give up on a WIP...
but I am in knots about what all to do with Out of Reach.
Out of Reach is a St:Prodigy S1 AU where Chakotay has amnesia and doesn't remember anything from his time on Voyager, all the while he and Kathryn are in a situationship with a baby.
There's two questions I never figured out how to answer: 1. Does he get his memories back. If so, how much and what enables it. and 2: Do he and Kathryn stay together?
On the memories front. saying he never recovers seems unfair to the character. But saying he magically does thanks to 24th century science feels cheap and disrespectful - to the reality of real memory loss and to the plot that built up so much tension around this. Saying he gets back some or more over time is more realistic, but left me uncertain of where exactly to end the story. Tying his retrieval of memories to Kathryn also tied me up in knots. On the one hand they're in love and thats romantic. on the other hand the optics of his recovery totally dependent on one person is icky.
I also found the baby really annoying to have there by the end - I still think he's cuteeee i really do!!! - it's just... he makes the "we should stay together and try to figure this out" answer a bit too convenient 😅. and he complicates Kathryns reluctance to restart their relationship. The more she resists, the more callous she seems (deliberately not trying to patch things up with her kid's father) when i really just want to focus on her fears that Chakotay would be happier without her and that even if they restart their romance, she might lose him again on a future mission. It's ironic because i originally created the baby to ensure she wouldnt just run away from her fears. And now hes contributing to my difficulty ending the fic...
Actually the more I think on it, my real problem is I could write my way out of this, but I cant do it in only one or two chapters and that makes me feel tired. i was sorta hoping to wrap that fic up. 😅🙈
16. What are your writing strengths?
Imagery has always been a strength for me. But i think I'm also getting really good at action scenes too.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Oneshots.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Only if it was information i wanted the reader to understand but not the POV character.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
W.I.T.C.H way back when I was 15.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Universe to Mend - I even have a few sequel or companion novel ideas to come after it.
This has gone on a while... 😅 - thank you for tagging me and letting me ramble! i'll tag anyone else who wants to answer! have at it.

FInally just got to watch Sing 2 for the first time in a month or so (I'm a very busy gal) and ohmygod I just remembered why I love Sing 2 so much: the ending.
The entire performance of Out of This World is great, but I'll only be going over Clay's part and thereafter.
Tumblr media
Seeing Clay down breakdown, and hearing his voice softly apologize about not being ready. It really shows how vulnerable he is, and how even if we put on a brave face and think we're ready, loss and mental struggle is not just something done quick and easy. Furthermore, it really means a lot to see him here, finally putting of his whole facade and finally letting loose a second time.
Speaking of which, I actually wanna look back in earlier parts of the movie (still within the time frame of the performance). During the time where everyone gets ready and the scene where Meena and Alfonso singing, we get to see glimpses of Clay sighing and staring deeply at his guitar case, like he knows what's inside it is going to hit him emotionally, and hit him hard.
Back to the show, when we see Ash first exit, we can see her alone, sing the songs Clay have sung before. Clay sees this, and he sees himself within her. (See me later for how they're so father-daughter). He sees this, and realizes that he can do this too, and he's not alone either.
I also want to note that Ash's quills actually do sort of resemble a white mane here. (2nd pic from later in the song)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We can even see Ruby's ghost come in behind Clay, kinda sort of saying "get in there, she needs you." I like to think it's also a little call back when Ash asked Clay if Ruby would've wanted him to give up on music.
The theatre is flooding with lonely silence as she sings, even though it's full of people, similar to how people going through depression may feel lonely when surrounded with love. The crowd eventually chimes it, but it still feels close to that same way still.
And then BOOM, we get chills when we get hit with that first guitar. As soon as we start to hear him, the room fills with life as well. We hear applause from the crowd. We hear percussion. It's just great.
Now before I continue, I just want to mention. This scene is probably one of the best animated scenes throughout all of Sing 2. They did just such fantastic work on his facial animations. I can say that for every Clay scene in Sing 2, but especially here. And they didn't just do a fantastic job with facial animations, but all animation here.
Tumblr media
GUESS WHAT BABY. IM BRINGING IN LYRICS TOO!! (of course I am). So, this part also goes with the following lyrics
I believe in the Kingdom Come Then all the colours will bleed into one Bleed into one But yes, I'm still runnin'
I like to believe the lyric about running can be interpreted two ways. Firstly, it can be interpreted as a call back to him running from his emotions, in constant denial over his loss of Ruby. Another way of seeing it is him running towards, trekking on through all the hardships he has faced.
Back to the actual movie, I just want to mention: bro is getting groovy with it. You can se by the way he moves his body that he is really getting into the music, especially after 15 years
Later on in the song, we actually see Ash and Clay look at each other, kind of like thanking each other. Clay, thanking Ash for getting him out of that rut, and helping him to continue onward. Ash, thanking Clay for coming to the show, and being her idol for who knows how many years.
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, lyric time again! Here they are
You broke the bonds And you loosed the chains Carried the cross of my shame Of my shame You know I believe it
Ash is the one who broke Clay's bonds of that rut he was in, and she buried the cross of his shame by never making him ever feel bad about what he was going through, but being understanding with him.
Anyways, back to the main summary. God I love the song. I love how you can see the pure unadulterated hope and joy enter Clay's face as he sings his song. I love how you can see the moment he's officially caught his second-wind.
I mean, look at this face and tell me it doesn't make you feel all warm and inside. It doesn't give you hope for a better tomorrow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately, I can't include any more images at the moment, but I can still go on.
Anyways, now we're moving onto the next famous bus scene. You know the one that plays that one song. We all love it.
It's just so great seeing all the cast members finally interact with each other again after being separate for a lot of the movie doing their own stuff. It's just a great reminder on how they really are just one big family. Even better is seeing how quickly Porsha, Nooshy, and Clay were integrated into it. Sure, the other two had some time to warm up but Clay? Clay just got here, and yet he's still already seen part of the family, and I'm really glad to see it.
The camera angles and lighting here and before are also just plain phenomenal. They really do a fantastic job with the camera and the different views of the different characters, and the warm lighting just does a fantastic job.
Super random but Clay also does a nice sigh here, and it really just speaks words. You can tell that that sigh was long overdue, and how he's just so ready to keep going and not be so caught up in not letting go. He's finally allowing himself to relax. Around the same time, we also see Ash cuddle up to Clay, and I just love the idea of Ash seeing Clay as a father figure. It's so good and true.
Oh and do NOT get me started on that song. I could really ramble on about it all day, but I'll try to keep it short. (Mostly) each character was saved by music, and that really makes the music fit. It's also worth noting that FUNFACT. Bono and U2 kinda made that song for funsies too.
(Quick summary of what happened: Bono teased wanting to make a song because the story of Clay spoke to him so deeply. Jennings wasn't actually expecting it to happen, but then Bono literally gave him a demo at the end of his first recording session)
And now we get to The Majestic. It is just plain gorgeous, and it really shows off of Sing 2 could've been just jaw-dropping gorgeous the entire way through given they were able to utilize their setting a lot more. LOOK AT THAT CITYSCAPE!! THOSE PRETTY LIGHTS!!
Tumblr media
And then we also see just a lot of nice and comforting smiles. I mean come on, look at the guy!! It's so awesome seeing Buster Moon so unbelievably proud of what he's accomplished.
Tumblr media
And then of course we cannot forget the final part. I'm sure everyone knows this by now, but it's so amazing and invigorating seeing Sing 2 end the same way Sing 1 started, like Buster is finally a kid again. It's just an awesome throw-back. I really don't see how Sing 3 can top this.

2. first character you wrote for:
Ben Jones my beloved (from Midsomer Murders)
3. main character(s) you’re currently writing for:
I don't know if I'm even allowed to answer this one 😂 Probably my own characters for original works, aside from that I really am just all over the map.. I'll say the ones I'm most likely to come back to regularly these days are Captain Pike, Mobius, and Dalinar Kholin (along with, y'know, people for them to get it on with).
4. character(s) you haven’t written about before but plan on writing about soon:
Pike's sex toys 😏
But uhhh actual people I haven't already written? 🤔 I am still toying with the idea of writing a little Jordi x Erin scene for Who Is Erin Carter? but it's anyone's best guess whether I'll actually get around to it 🙈
5. fandom(s) you’re currently writing for:
The main culprits lately have been Stormlight Archive, Star Trek Strange New Worlds, the Loki series, Stargate, and original fiction! Honorable mention to OFMD and Good Omens who've popped in there a couple times as well and may or may not continue to make occasional appearances 💖
6. platonic pairing(s) you currently write for:
Tumblr media
.....let's say Ortegas & Pike since I did technically write them recently 😆 and also I love them.
7. romantic pairing(s) you currently write for:
All the things
Though let's be real, it's just straight up sexual pairings as opposed to romantic most of the time 🍾 But yeah, there's just.. so many to have fun with ✨

PWP, Omorashi... and in third place is a three way tie between Masturbation, Watersports, and Blowjobs 😂
9. your current platform where you post your works
Fanfic:
Original work:
With occasional cross-posting between the two 😊
10. snippet of the wip you’re currently working on:
..alright well here's hoping I do wind up actually finishing the big-dick-Mobius fic I started ages ago to go with @natendo-art 's hot fucking artwork 🙈
“May I?” Loki was asking— and he was trailing one hand downwards, fingers teasing along the line of Mobius’s belt.
Mobius’s breath caught in an embarrassing little whimper, but he nodded anyway, a little distracted from wondering… Should he tell Loki he didn’t have any idea what he was doing, not really? Should he keep quiet and hope maybe Loki wouldn’t notice how woefully inexperienced he was beyond his own hands? Or—
Mobius’s nervous train of thought was interrupted by Loki’s fingers finding his stiffened cock through his suit pants with a little squeeze—
…And then Loki stopped, pulled back, and stared at Mobius with wide eyes and a slightly shocked look.
“Wh… what is it?” Mobius asked, face flaming, instantly certain he’d done something wrong. “I’m sorry—”
“Sorry?” Loki breathed, and to Mobius’s tentative relief, that slightly slack-jawed expression twisted up into a grin of delight instead. “My dear Mobius, you should definitely not be sorry about this.”

I am on a cheesy movie kick & this is the direct result. It's corny and fluffy and not done yet. Check back for part 2 soon! Oh & leave a comment if you'd like to be on the tag list. I'll add you to part 2!
It all starts with Black Betty.
Steve is in his new rental studying for his comps when the loud music begins to play. Though it’s not the worst sound in the world, Steve’s brain focusing in on it is not ideal. He is renting a place off the mainland in hopes of getting through the slump of cramming without any distractions.
Clearly, that’s not going to happen, not even in this new place.
All is well until Molly starts to whine. Steve’s so in love with that dog that he immediately stops what he’s doing to investigate. “Are you still feeling bad, Molly girl?”
She stops whimpering when Steve puts a hand on her but she still seems a little off. Getting up from his chair, Steve prompts Molly to sit up when he notices it – there’s the smallest little swell to her stomach.
It takes no time at all for Steve to abandon his books and stalk out his back door, instead. There’s an unruly boy dog that lives in the house next door that Steve is absolutely positive is the culprit. Sweet Molly follows him out the door, though her steps are lethargic and slow, further driving home Steve’s diagnosis.
“Hey, excuse me – “ Steve says, practically shouting over the music.
He’s just mad enough not to notice the true beauty of the man sitting on an old wooden beach chair right away, though that changes quickly. Steve’s immediately transfixed by a thick head of dark brown curls and the biggest chocolate eyes he’s ever seen. A flare of lust settles in his belly – it’s the first one in a long, long time.
Though, that too is easily forgotten when Molly whines again and Steve remembers why he made the trek out of the house in the first place. By now, the music’s been turned down and his neighbor’s attention is completely on him.
“You’re my new neighbor, aren’t you? I’ve seen you watching me from the porch.”
Steve scoffs at the question, both because it’s annoying and the stranger’s voice is disgustingly hot. Is it too much to hope for a bad attitude to come from such a gorgeous creature?
“I haven’t been watching you. We live within 100 yards of each other, where else am I supposed to look?” There’s something so adorably obnoxious about the man before him that Steve continues, unable to decide if he’s truly upset or he just likes the fight they’re heading for.
His neighbor starts to laugh, even puts up both of his hands in surrender. “I’m just playing. I’ve noticed you, that’s all.”
“You’re hilarious,” Steve says, ignoring the beautiful man’s easy compliment.
“What’s say we start over, huh? You can have a seat and I’ll grab you a beer. As a peace offering.” His neighbor is almost out of his seat already when Steve gets himself back together enough to answer. He’s surprised how much he wants to ditch the books and join this rude man.
“I’m fine, honestly.”
“Oh, come on. Have a beer – I’m trying to be neighborly.”
“I don’t want one, thank you.” Steve reaches up to run a hand through his hair, a little exasperated. But, so does his neighbor. It’s almost like their movements are in sync.
The eeriness is hard to shake off.
“Well, I’m Eddie. And this little guy,” the man, Eddie, says as he reaches down to pet the dog Steve’s out here to complain about in the first place, “is Bugsy.”
Steve stares down at the dog in hopes that his lingering glare will relay his very unhappy message. Instead, the silence it causes is heavy. So much so that Eddie works to fill it in.
“This is usually where you tell me your name. Introduce yourself.”
Without thought, Steve shook his head. “No, I don’t think I will.”
Eddie is taken aback for the briefest of moments but eventually pushes on. “Then what can I do for you, neighbor? You sure looked amped up when you came barreling over here.”
Suddenly, Steve’s anger returns with a vengeance. “Your dog, that stink butt, knocked up my dog. My sweet little Molly!”
The smirk that takes over Eddie’s face is almost enough to have Steve swinging, but he holds onto his composure. He’s about to be a master’s graduate, fist fitting would be unbecoming.
Though, the urge is so very strong.
Especially when Eddie’s look turns into a laugh.
Things do not get any better after that. Steve is determined to pin Molly’s condition on the rascally dog, despite the knowing look Eddie has on his face. When the man tells him to check out one of the local vets in town, Steve almost chucks the card back into his neighbor’s face. While he knows he’ll be there bright and early the next morning, Steve isn’t very inclined to back down. Not even when he’s the obvious fool.
Which… becomes very apparent the next day when Steve walks into the vet’s office to see that Dr. Munson of Munson’s Veterinary Care is none other than Steve’s neighbor himself. His cocky smile makes Steve’s heart thump in his chest, though he swears it’s because of hatred, not burning desire.
In the end, Steve gives up his name and finds out that Bugsy is a fixed dog incapable of being the father to Molly’s puppies. He feels stupid enough that he doesn’t even insult Eddie when he so affectionately says, “you are the most bothersome person alive.” In fact, he’s a little weak for it.
Steve manages to keep his feelings under wraps for another couple of weeks before he’s desperate and goes running to Eddie for help. Molly’s been trying to deliver her pups for a while and nothing’s happening – other than her increasingly harrowing whimpers of pain. It’s gone too far and Steve knows Eddie will help.
Eddie, despite it being the middle of the night when Steve knocks, doesn’t hesitate to run across their yards and come to Molly’s aid. The pups are there within the next half an hour and Molly is once again safe and happy. Steve’s so overcome, he forgets to try and be upset with his rude neighbor.
Their banter is flirty instead of argumentative.
“Thank you so much for helping her. I don’t know what I would’ve done without you.” The admission makes Steve’s cheeks heat up, but he presses on. “Molly’s my girl.”
There’s a second where staring is the only thing that happens. Eddie’s big, brown eyes look at Steve as if he’s a puzzle that the man’s finally figured out. His gaze is so steady, Steve is disoriented when it eventually breaks.
Denying their chemistry after that is pretty futile. Steve makes dinner for Eddie the next night and the rest is history.
Steve graduates with Eddie by his side.
When the time comes that their relationship is put on trial, Eddie chases Steve down to bring him back home. Though, it’s with a shiny ring on his finger and a promise of forever that Steve wasn’t all that sure he had before.
They marry in front of the water that connects their two houses and keep them both, though Eddie’s place is their home base. Eddie adds another beat up wooden chair to his perch by the dock and their dogs find a way to cohabitate, despite Molly still not being Bugsy’s biggest fan.
Their family grows by one mouth a couple years later. Blue, their baby girl, is a happy accident that neither Steve nor Eddie is ever going to regret. Her arrival into the world is a whirlwind but they figure it out. Fatherhood, fortunately, fits them like a glove. Steve glows when he holds Blue and Eddie never stops making noises or funny faces to entertain the little girl.
It quickly becomes clear that just the one isn’t enough. Robin, always the reliable friend, offers to surrogate for them. It’s the best decision they’ve ever made. The little boy she gives birth to has big chocolate brown eyes that stare up at them. Travis comes home to a big sister and two dogs that love him from the moment Steve carries his car seat inside.
For all intents and purposes, things are amazing. Steve’s life is even better than he ever imagined it to be.
Except it’s not. Not really.
Eddie’s busy life at the clinic makes it easy for Steve to feel neglected. Between the hustle of having two kids and both of them working full time jobs, it’s hard to find some time for just the two of them. Especially when Eddie has trouble saying no to old ladies and their fickle cats.
After one missed date, Steve’s ready to make up for lost time. When he pulls into the restaurant for their makeup dinner and doesn’t see Eddie’s van, he tries not to get upset. Three glasses of wine later, Steve’s far past understanding and is mad as hell. He quietly pays the bill, seething on the inside.
He waits to unleash his ire until he’s in the car. “Eddie Munson, this is your husband calling. I can’t believe you stood me up on another date. That’s two now, baby. I need you to come bother me, Eddie. You’re never around – “
Steve’s stopped midsentence by a car slamming into the driver’s side door. His preoccupation makes him slow to react, though it’s futile, anyway. He tries hard to get his hands back onto the wheel, yet he’s already too late. The car rolls and turns and flips over with Steve along for the ride. The last thought he has before it all fades to black is of Eddie and his beautiful face.
He so desperately wanted to see him one last time.

Halo here to say that sketch, from my last ask was the cutest thing I've ever seen! Compliments to the chef! But goodness, you like my long rambles, but decide to cut your own ones short?! How dare you not simp to your heart's content?! "I simp, therefore I am," I tell you!
(But really, if there's more stuff you want to say on past asks, I want to hear it all!)
*Clears throat*
1. A short idea on Justice flustering the employee unintentionally. It remembers handholding. It helps two people stick together, especially when trekking through dark and uncertain terrain. At first, it's when guiding an employee through a foggy or dark area, or pulling them out of water/quicksand. But soon enough, Justice kind of does it instinctually.
Then, it starts doing it because it feels nice, though it can't quite understand why. The other employee isn't holding anything, and Justice doesn't need it's rifle out, at the moment, so why not? Crew mates stick together, right?
The camera duty guy watching that red dot following the employee much more closely than usual, again. And they just say to themself, "it's doing it again? Kind of a simp, ngl... But I ship it."
(Now I thought of a new scenario, where a different employee teaches Justice how to rizz up the master. Their motive would probably be for the laughs, though.)
2. Fluff with some angst. Think of all the mental baggage these guys have to put up with. Not out of the ordinary for an employee to suddenly scream or gasp awake, on their bed, because they had another nightmare of the hell they have to be subjected to again soon. Sure, it's probably normalised by the other employees; just part of the job. But Justice is always irked by this.
They deserve as much comfort as possible, right? A pat on the head or their hand gently resting up on their torso, a touch reminding them they're not alone. Maybe Justice is thinking of the past, again. It was back when the master's child was scared from a nightmare, storm, or a (reasonably sized) spider, and they sought out it to be the hero of their plight.
Or, if you want fluff with extra angst, everyone else dying and leaving only Justice with one employee. They made it to the ship, and are in orbit, but now what? Justice is trying hold it together, like it's about to snap, but notices the last employee just sitting on the floor and trembling.
Really, all it has left to do is to crouch down to their level and reach out to them, soon finding themselves holding each other to find some comfort.
3. Justice's original master having kids, but when they get in trouble, any confiscated tech and such go under and inside Justice's hat! I highly doubt you would beat Justice in a wrestle to take it back, though it is tempted by the pleading eyes of the children.
And Justice continuing the practice today! An eyeless dog nearby? You needn't the walkie-talkie, now into the hat! Robot toy not shutting up? The hat can at least muffle it! Cool mask you found... Into the hat!
But I'm not done, yet! Justice getting a mischievous idea, as it looks upon its favourite, orange suited master. The crew is enjoying their rest upon Gordion, when suddenly—
"Justice, give that back!"
Why did Justice take their flashlight?! As the confused employee jumps up, trying to retrieve it, Justice gently holds them away. Then, it takes a different item from out under the hat...
It's the dress!
As everyone else is frozen, knowing exactly what's to come of this, another employee casually walks back to the ship: "I'll get the record player..."
Later on, during another mission, the employee is on camera duty. They see a red dot, with a yellow triangle, approaching the ship. They switch to another, as it's clearly Justice coming back to drop off some stuff, as indicated by the sounds of it coming inside, placing the items down, and—
The employee yelps, suddenly being twirled around in a brief dance. Keeping it short, as not to distract the employee too much from their duty, it quickly ends and Justice gives a peck on their "cheek". It leaves, waving goodbye, like nothing happened.
~ Halo
HJASJHDSAHJDSAH I LOVE YOUR RAMBLES HALO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I just am ashamed of overtalking myself and beeing seen as a fool u_u;;; Ooh the pain of loving a character so much...
If I get any new ideas I'll post them,, still trying to free myself from the cringe (which is dead ofc!). So just for you, you're getting all my thoughts:
-- I am always thinking of all the human rituals and quirks Justice may have noticed (an picked up) in its life. The way their faces lit up with demonstrations of affection, it's only natural that it would want to make the team happy too!
Hand holding is a useful resource at first, without a voice box it is unable to communicate in a more efficient way than trying to play charades every time there's danger nearby,,, so it has noticed it's a lot easier to just pull its crewmate out of a nutcracker's line of fire.
Then it started doing it when it noticed someone needed a little more support or was feeling down. For example, when traversing a dark hallway when their flashlight would run out of battery, always staying as close as possible to try and calm the anxious crewmate down <3
As time goes by it just keeps doing it more and more, taking a liking to the warm touch of its mate. Using the situation as an excuse to hold them close. It is not sure why, but there's just some feeling of safety and belonging attached to such a simple gesture...
Comforting sketch I made some days ago that I deemed too shameful for the public eye (read it from left to right):
Tumblr media
AND THE RIZZING UP PART GAVE ME AN IDEA,, like first, do you think Justice, being able to feel emotions, would be able to also fall in love with their favourite crewmate??
Eitherway, imagine the camera duty guy just growing tired from just watching their constant displays of affection. Like, they can just feel the tension even through the cameras, so one day they pull Justice aside and tells them to PLEASE do something about it;; and it just sitting there like "huh wuh...?", so they now have to help the nutcracker win over the other employee... just chuckling from the side watching it go so horribly wrong but somehow working out in the end...?????? Lucky bastard.
Tumblr media
-- As for the fluff with a bit of angst: YEAS Justice will always be there for a friend in need, even if it hurts to see them reach that state, it will always be by their side through thick and thin.
Justice won't ever mind you needing some extra support. Holding their hand until they fall asleep would become part of their night routine. Or if they prefer to have more space, it will stay close enough, guarding them from anything that could its master.
And for the fluff with EXTRA angst: I'm going to hit you with a hammer;;; both of them finding comfort on each other like NNGHNGHHNGNHHN I will literally burts into tears right now oh my lord... I imagine that would be a sleepless night for the employee, or maybe Justice would let it fall asleep on its arms... hearing the hum of gears turning as it caresses their back.
Tumblr media
-- Now I can just IMAGINE the scene,, Justice finding something the employees should not be toying with,, confiscating it and hiding it under the hat, so far out of their reach... they better learn to behave before they get to have their stuff back!
And oh, it guesses they also need some rest from all the hard work they've been doing... why not lighten the mood with some fun!, Justice thinks as it approaches the oblivious employee, snatching the torch before they can say something and giving them the pretty dress in return;; watching them with "puppy eyes" (or rather, eye) and getting so joyous when they agree to it <3<3<3
OUGHHH it's always teh last part, it's always that part I tell you;; Justice grabbing the distracted employee and doing a lil silly dance before placing them back in their spot and then giving them a peck on their cheek???? AGH- god I wish that were me...
Them just standing there in the same position as Justice left them, flustered and incredulous... just watching its silhouette dissapear into the fog as many thoughts rush through their head;;;
