I never read the locked tomb series but I got into it through sheer vibes and aesthetic... The harrow nova au is what actually got me further into the, well, lore and universe. I already love your necro!gideon design, like the bone accessories and her look just *chef's kiss* it's perfect!

THANK YOU SO MUCH I HAVE REVEREND DAUGHTER GIDEON NAV ON THE BRAIN! Sit down with me while we talk, okay: First of all, she's an asshat, like, just straight up a bag of dicks. She's cocky, she's a show off, she thinks her shit don't stink. She's entitled, abrasive, MEAN, and above all else very VERY competitive. Physically she's a wet little chicken bone, with greyed out skin and dull hair. She did all her piercings herself (shocker), and she implanted bone into her own neck! Half for defense, half for it looking badass as hell. She also files her teeth so they're sharp af, which is great for looking like an abomination but the scars all over her lips and tongue will tell you not to do it yourself. She keeps a chain of teeth, fingers, and other misc. bone fragments around her neck for easy access for constructs, and she'll stim with it mindlessly while she's bored or thinking. She keeps three or four skulls on her waist for bigger constructs, sometimes she snaps off their teeth when she's in a particularly bad mood. She doesn't usually dress up in her full garbs with the skeleton hand shoulder pads, bone crown, veil and capes -- it's usually just for formalities and special occasions. Kept the idea of those braces on her fists, though I thought it would be cool to implement them into her gloves so she can wolverine at will. She's creepy, she's conceited, and she's seemingly always dissatisfied. She keeps Nova on her toes for sure (threatening). IDK i just think shes really neat, wish we could've gotten more of her in the books U - U

The sound of someone at the door startles you, drawing your attention from your unfinished sketch and to the curly-haired boy clutching a piece of paper in his ringed hand.

“Sorry, uh,” Eddie says with a nervous laugh, “didn’t mean to scare you.” When you don’t reply, he looks around the otherwise-empty classroom. “Is now a bad time, or…?”

You gather your thoughts, heart pounding a mile a minute at the sudden interruption. “N-No, you’re fine,” you stammer. God, he’s so cute. Cheeks tinged red with bashfulness, free hand shoved into his back pocket, frizzy curls brushing against his denim-clad shoulders. “Something I can help you with?” you ask when he remains standing in place.

“Oh! Um, yeah.” He shuffles over to you, as though reminding himself to put one foot in front of the other. “You draw, right? Like, sketches and stuff?” He winces at his stilted attempt at an opening, especially given the fact that your sketchbook is open right in front of you.

“Mhm.”

“Cool.” Eddie nods. “Could I ask you to draw this? It’s for my uncle’s birthday next month.” He hands you the photo, and your heart instantly melts. It’s a picture of him and who you assume is his uncle, and Eddie can’t be much older than ten years old. He’s wearing a blue shirt with an S in a diamond hastily drawn on the front. A faded red towel is tied around his neck in a makeshift cape. The older man stands behind him, half a KitKat bar hanging from his lips like a cigarette. “It was my first Halloween with him.” The first time I ever celebrated Halloween, actually, he thinks, but keeps that information to himself.

You carefully study the photo, careful not to leave fingerprints on it, even though there’s already a smudge in the corner. “I, uh, I don’t know what those stains are,” Eddie mumbles. “I can’t offer a lot of money, but if you smoke…” he mimics taking a pull from a joint, “I can hook you up for free.”

“You sure?” You wrinkle your nose. “I don’t want you getting in trouble or anything.”

Eddie dismisses the notion with a wave. “What’s he gonna do, call the cops?”

“Fair enough,” you agree with a smile.

You hadn’t realized that when Eddie had offered to smoke you up for free, he’d meant smoking with him. Over the next few weeks, any free time that wasn’t spent drawing the photo of him and his uncle–whose name was Wayne, you’d learned–you spent with him in a haze of marijuana. Sharing giggles, splitting family bags of potato chips when the munchies inevitably hit, snuggling up on his couch and sleepily watching sitcom reruns consumed your afternoons. To an outsider’s perspective, it looked like you two were together. Truthfully, you had no idea what you and Eddie’s status was.

“Oh! I almost forgot,” you sit up suddenly, shifting under the blanket and reaching for your backpack. “I finished this last night.”

Eddie’s bloodshot eyes go wide, and you swear that their glassiness is fueled by more than just pot. “This is…wow,” he breathes out, shaking his head in disbelief. “This is even better than I imagined.” He doesn’t know the technical terms for what you’ve done, but you’ve perfectly captured their enthused expressions, the joy in their eyes evident even just through pencil shading. “You’re amazing.”

And maybe it’s the compliment, or the high, or the way he’s been nestled into you for the last forty minutes, but you tilt his head towards yours and kiss him. Your mouths collide clumsily, and he seems shocked at first, but he quickly eases himself into it to deepen it. One hand cups your cheek while the other pulls you onto his lap so you’re straddling his lithe waist. 

“Wanted to do this for a long time,” he murmurs into you, not wanting to fully break the kiss. “Ever since I first saw you, I thought you were so goddamn pretty.”

“I’ve had a crush on you since you jumped on the cafeteria table and called Billy Hargrove out for leading all those poor girls on,” you admit with a laugh. “He turned bright red.”

Eddie inhales, shrugging his shoulders haphazardly. “Earned myself a pretty little black eye for that.” His nose nudges yours as he leans in to kiss you again. “But it was totally worth it if it meant you noticed me.”

You pull back slightly, taking in his beautiful brown eyes, the tiny patch of stubble where he’d missed shaving, the flyaway hairs on his temple. “Can I keep noticing you?”

“I’d be sad if you stopped.”

The Web - God of Fate (she/it): im pretty happy with her design atm, shes meant to be a half spider half woman thing and i love that for her. shes probably the one ive thought the most on so far given her importance to the story. i want her to wear silks and shiny silver jewelry that just sparkles like wet spiderwebs do, not sure if im gonna keep the veil?

The Dark - God of the Dark (she/he/it): probably my weakest concept at the moment. it doesnt do the dark any justice. i mean i like the cloak idea but i want them to be very tendrilly, all consuming, shadowy, but i dont know how to properly portray them :/

The Desolation - God of Destruction and Fire (they/it): i have a neat vision for them! i want them to be made of coal and ash and smoke, to be burning and glowing on the inside, and their body is decorated with melted wax to look like clothes. not quiiiiiite sure about how their melty candle dress is now? i want it to be less constrictive

The Stranger - God of the Unknown and the Whimsical (he/she/they/it): it's meant to be this. weird wirey creature hidden behind masks and a lot of fabrics, like the framework of a poseable plush doll? i like the way the masks look but im not so sure about the body.

The Vast - God of the Above (she/he/they/it): im not so sure about his design at all im gonna be real. i want them to look like the atmosphere and be covered in clouds and have mountains for feet and an ocean cape but i feel like it might be a bit?? idk??? im just not that happy with it :/

The End - God of Death and Time (they/it): ugh i love this concept sm, making death read as less scary and more divine is so fun. theyre based on a seraphim and a sand timer,

The Buried - God of the Underneath (she/he/they/it): ANOTHER OF MY FAVORITES!!!! i love them. theyre inspired by hermit crabs!! and they have silver chains holding their shell to them. they look so endearing with their lil lopsided eyes ;; <3

The Flesh - God of the Body and Meat (she/he/they/it): i have so many ideas for the flesh y'all- im very excited to do a concept sheet for them. theyre meant to have no skin, just exposed bone and muscle, large limbs, hooves, exposed heart underneath a ribcage, teeth that close around their abdomen. white bandages that wrap around like clothes. a teeth/horn crown? i dont quite know whether to go for a more animalistic look or a more human one? like- theres so many ways to go with him idek!!!

The Hunt - God of Predators and Pride (they/it): see, i like this design but i feel like its too werewolf like? yknow? thats cool!! but itreads more monster to me than God :/

The Corruption - God of Nature, Rot, and Disease (she/they/it): i love this weird bug thing. this one i was really inspired for (mostly because. corruption aligned. so obviously im gonna think about this one alot) theyre this weird bug thing, the veil is inspired by the one from the art on the wiki! i want to maybe make them a bit more gross and weird because nature is like that sometimes, a moot on tiktok suggested that i add animal bones!! and i think thats SO smart im absolutely going too

The Spiral - God of the Incomprehensible (it/its): this weirdo is so hard to pin down istg. i imagine them as this spiral thing. body is kindof liquidy, arms are spindly and long, multiple shifting faces, overall just constantly changing and moving and like!!! how am i meant to draw that??? when my brain cant even wrap my head around what its supposed to look like yknow??? bruh jrdbhgfjdldgfh- that being said i think the main problem with the design is that it just gives me too many Michael vibes!!! is it the hair? the arms? its probably both.

The Lonely - God of Solitude and the Self (they/it): i like what this one has going so far! theyve got fog hair, fog tears, their body is meant to be splotchy like turquoise marble, i vibe with it so hard. not so sure what to do with their outfit tho :/

The Slaughter - God of War (he/they/it): another one of my more stronger designs i think! centaur with weapons sticking into them, face concealed, medieval armor and antlers- it vibes

the extinction isnt drawn because i literally have no idea what they should look like aside from color palette-

New Ideas for HOTD Alicent Fashion pt.2

So technically the last one I did for Alicent was apart of a Rhaenyra one, but for continuity sake this is my second outfit redesign for a younger Queen Alicent Hightower.

The dress in question we’re changing is one that will be changed in both scenes it’s worn. One will be a new dress entirely but the other will be just mentally recreating it to look more like the concept art.

The scenes are the dismissal of her father as Hand & The confrontation between she and Rhaenyra about the rumor that had her father dismissed:

I actually love this❤️❤️❤️ it’s just missing a little something, so when comparing these two pics:

If you notice these look exactly the same, except the black is darker, perhaps a velvet, the gold embroidery is more in the form of a design and brighter. The necklace is also more regal looking, bigger than the ones we saw her wear in her girlhood as a noble Lady. Those are the things they should’ve kept for the design of the dress in this scene, she’d look more like an actual Targaryen royal of the time. No offense but the dress that made the cut is kinda bland in tone.

The hair as well, she went for a jeweled hairnet to back to her girlhood hairstyles, precisely why I wish they would’ve kept the braided jeweled crown. It makes her seem more mature (despite her not being but jewelry can be a mask just as much as makeup sometimes) and more royal. She could even still keep it in this half held up hairdo just with the jeweled braided crown/twist added into it:

And the last thing about it the to want to say, the cape would’ve been awesome to see and it would’ve fit the scene. It was raining and she had a man carrying an umbrella for her, I think she’d have that cool ass cape too. Again makes her look more regal, more queen like, more mature.

The next time she wears it that I’d like to change, when she confronted Rhaenyra. A tense scene.

However at this point in time is when she is the most conflicted between her marriage to her husband and her “duty” to her house. I feel she’d reflect that in a representation of both houses. More so red, almost as if adding green was an afterthought, bc I rather think it would be a last minute decision for Alicent to add a green sash or piece of fabric to her usually Targaryen adoption in appearance. A way to feel close to her father by wearing the colors of the house she was born from (just like I headcanon she wore blue as a child to feel close to her mother; Helena Cuy, look it up where I go on a whole rant).

That in mind, imagine something similar to this:

The green being held in place at her neck, Targaryen dragon scales but in gold (perhaps a subtle nod toward Sunfyre/Aegon), it comes to wrap around her waist like a belt, tied at one side the remainder of the green fabric falls free on her left side of her hips down side by side the red dress. Also from the neckline, a half cape of green coming to cover her right side, thin gold chains reaching out from the neckline to hide beneath the half cape.

The red dress underneath would suit the summer climate/warmer climate of the time in the Red Keep, it’s just the right shade of Targaryen red, not to mention the red dress isn’t what really makes the dress but really what is meant to catch ur eye is that she’s wearing green for the first time in a long time. It meant to be hinting at her internal battles. Ofc her cleavage wouldn’t be exposed as depicted so it’s have a higher neckline, perhaps some simple gold and/or black embroidery to enhance it a bit.

Her hair would be something else to consider, thinking back to how we want it to be more mature and queen like. So perhaps a head peace or a jeweled net?

A mixture of these two would suffice:

The first picture is my favorite one and the main inspo for how I’d have done her hair, the pearls, the way her hair is twisted at the top with her bun being kept nice and beautiful in a net. The only thing I’d add from the second photo is the gold lace around the edges of the net, as well as the braid surrounding that as a whole. I’d also take the bands and add them loosely to the bottom part of her hair left down.

As for jewelry, they could’ve taken inspo from actual royal jewels. Something like this for Alicent:

Like I said the look starting originally as her traditional Targaryen Queen attire, with her Hightower symbolism added as an afterthought. Some small pearls could be added between diamond to go more with the pearls in her hair (although I think I might see some pearls in there but I might be dumb).

As for the earrings they could be something like this:

Again incorporating pearls into them or straight up replacing the diamonds entirely.

It’s just Queenly. It’s appeasing to the eyes. And it’s what I expect people to design royal fashion as to look like in period/historical dramas when you’ve proven yourself not concerned with accuracy or if it is a style fantasy gown.

round 3 minigame

ok so i was going to make this a minigame once matejko is out of the tournament, but since it turns out you guys love him so much... favourite matejko lets-cram-as-many-people-as-possible-into-this historical painting minigame. ft the shortest possible contextual explanations ever for those not familiar with polish history (would be longer but i'm queuing this on the evening before the elections and i need to go to sleep early) (hello, future me, i hope the elections went Not Terrible)

meet our contestants!

The Battle of Grunwald: so basically in 1410 Poles with their king Jagiełło and their amazing Lithuanian allies defeated the Teutonic Order in a great battle and it became super symbolically important bc wahooo victory over the Germans (remember all of these were painted while Poland was partitioned). The guy in the white cape is the grand master of the Teutonic Order, the one in red in the middle is the Lithuanian ruler prince Vytautas. i feel like im back in my 2014 hetalia days

The Prussian Homage: blah blah the Teutonic Order evolved into the state of Prussia and in 1525 they decided to become the subjects of the Polish king. Another one nicely symbolic if you live in the 19th century and want to show the middle finger to the Prussians/Germans.

The Union of Lublin: basically when Poland and Lithuania became one country (Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth) in 1569. The guy with the cross is the king Zygmunt II August (in the round 1 minigame we had Simmler's painting of him and his dying wife Barbara Radziwiłłówna)

Bathory at Pskov: Russian forces asking the king Stefan Batory for peace during the siege of Pskov (you guessed it, this one is to show the middle finger to the Russians). ngl i dont know shit about this period in history so. go read up on it on wikipedia. King Batory is the manspreading chad in the gold cape

Rejtan (The Fall of Poland): Tadeusz Rejtan was a deputy in the Partition Sejm of 1773 (basically russia going ''heyyyyy poland and lithuania, could you pls officially agree to give away like half of ur territories to us and prussia and austria'') (fr im having 2014 hetalia flashbacks writing this) and he hated it all so much he bared his chest about it and tried to not let the other deputies out of the chamber.

Constitution of 3 May 1791: first constitution in Europe, second in the world babeyyyy. big win for the Polish enlightenment. attempt to reform the country while it was at its lowest. many cool ideas. so cool that russia, prussia and austria felt it was time to wipe the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from the map :/ so sadly there wasnt enough time for the reforms to work

i was organizing some files and found all the wip stuff from the previous secret samol for @/seamonsterart (go check out their work!), and these are two of my favorite illustrations ever, so here's some insight into how i made these!

for starters i already had a pretty much finished design for pickman that i had first drawn back in 2021

she has a completely wrong gun in this version because i did not remember how it was supposed to look like and couldn't find a description of it anywhere. she's wearing a hat because i forgot it was supposed to be a helm and so i ended up giving her the large hat just because the long horns coming through it are a fun image, though today i cannot imagine her wearing anything else. she already has the sword she takes from the lake skeletons, also. her armor is based on the armor the torumekian soldiers and kushana wear in nausicaa of the valley of the wind, with the incredible neck guard and long cape covering their entire body

i've always loved these designs and how the plates are evocative of insects, but also how mysterious they look with covered faces and bodies. matter of fact, at this point i had no fucking idea what pickman looked like below the cape.

the second inspiration is the young man from angel's egg.

OK, STAY WITH ME. i cannot explain this other that in my head pickman and him are VERY similar characters. the image of the half pulled cape while he holds his sword-cross-thing over his shoulder and the quiet demeanor are pretty fundamental to how i try to make pickman FEEL. i actually wanted her armor to have more piping, pulling from the biomechanical appearance of his sword-cross, but it didn't feel quite right

and the third inspiration is less inspiration and more reference work, the book "arms & armor, a pictorial archive" by carol grafton

it's a compilation of illustration works sourced from several books from the 19th century. VERY cool book to take a look at historical armor. it's on the internet archive for free!

there was also a fair ammount of looking at goats and sheep, but eventually i reached this after learning i suck at drawing furry designs. big shoutout to the furry community for making so many tutorials available btw. in highlight a very important study of the character.

now that i kinda knew what pickman looked like i entered the wonderful phase of "i don't know what the fuck i'm doing" which resulted in a bunch of bad doodles now sitting in a folder dubbed "dev hell". at this point i kinda had an idea for a relaxed scene based on one of the prompts, which i developed for a while on blender but eventually gave up on.

i then moved on to the second prompt, of pickman being badass. i decided on a low angle to make pickman look incredibly tall but the low angle of a goat's head legitimately kicked my ass so i eventually made a goat head on blender and used it to generate references with the help of designdoll. here i made her design a lot more muscular and fat, also, eventually coming to her final design.

the valve on her chestplate looks WRONG to me now, but at the time i was so tired i just rolled with it. the first pass of her armor was in a completely wrong color, which i corrected later on photoshop. i added the little metal forks pulling from her 2021 design, and the idea of little musical forks for atunning to the shape was cool to me. i also corrected her gun after actually learning what the fuck it was supposed to look like. i already knew i wanted her to be standing on the field of canola flowers, and the sky in the background was the last thing i added, also the time when i decided to really make the picture tall.

i liked the final result so much i went back and started working on the first prompt again. had a horrible time drawing the horns in the second image which led to this hell cage for building the perspective. im still not confident on the horns on the side of the head. i wanted to bring the atmosphere of a cold winter or fall morning in the second one, and to make pickman seem tired but relaxed. i overall like the second picture a lot more than the first and was very happy with how it came out.

I’ve had too many bug thoughts and had to draw a reference of my Pale King before I lose it.

Anyway reference notes and little tidbits/HC's!

The runes are written in Willowscript! It's a code created by @thealchemybook on tik tok! Go check them out because they also do other cool codes! I just usually go with Willowscript because I like the look of it and I'm currently learning to write in it.

The cloak's pin hides PK's half of the kingsoul. The pin itself is a combination of the king's brand and a complete looking kingsoul. It's kind of PK's way of trying to cleverly hide his actual piece while still going "I really really love my wife and want to show my love of her to the world."

His tail has spines of the end that are much darker than the rest of his body because I liked the contrast that they gave him. I almost made them the same sort of material as his wings but decided against it. The reason it's that dark is also because I took inspiration from Pale ore! It's got those dark bits in it (probably just ground but whatever)

His second pair of arms is not covered in fabric due to them being his "digging" pair and them typically being covered by the rest of his attire.

The way the robe flares out at the bottom was king of inspired by Grimm's neck collar thing. Also the way it parts isn't normal, it's just to show that it does part there so that when he walks he won't trip over himself.

The cape and robes being darker on the inside is purely personal preference and a need for more colours other than "Pale"

The runes are on each of his horns, with the other hidden ones being "Mind" "Ruler" "Ascended" and "Mimicker". This makes his eight (8) horns from the leftmost one in the picture around go: Knowledge, Soul, Pale, Wyrmling, Mimicker, Mind, Ruler, Ascended.

The words are present on every Wyrm, and change as one grows and changes substantially.

The reason the term Wyrmling is on the Pale King is because in wyrm year's he's not fully grown. He's close, but at the time of his rule it would have been another 150 years until he was old enough for Wyrmling to become simply Wyrm.

Mimicker is present because he changed his shape to blend into the bugs of Hallownest, mimicking them. Seeker is there because a large part of his life was him seeking something, a solution to the infection, a kingdom, loyalty, knowledge. Something.

The rest are kind of self explanatory

His wings fold into his back nicely and he can hide them using his magic.

(I also like to imagine that the monarch wing's were the remains of his wings and he had torn them apart before dragging the palace and himself into the dreamscape because he didn't want to be given the option of leaving the white palace and you kinda need the monarch wings to get through the traps but anyway-)

I'll probably draw another reference of him in battle armour because I have fun ideas for that!

After some time in the kitchen, I decided that when Yuya was younger, he was really into good versus evil roles when rehearsing his dueltainment lines. And who else better to serve as his practice opponents than his two brothers who aren't off busy making rounds at the stadium on a D-Wheel?

Tying his own fluffy, white towel around his shoulders, Yuya throws a nearby black blanket to Yuto. The oldest is initially a little embarrassed about the notion, but no one can ever say no to the baby of the Sakaki family, can they? (He'll just have to live the shame down from the twins later on... They barely even respect him as they are right now, anyway) In the middle of the duel, Yuri walks in onto the two of them after having finished his homework (or tweaking his deck). He raises an eyebrow at Yuto's appearance, but gets the gist of the situation when he sees their duel disks activated and Yuya standing on top of the sofa in a similar attire. As Yuto steals Yuya's schtick and becomes a tomato, Yuri pouts about being left out and quickly leaves to hunt for something that will allow him to join the fun. When the duel ends, Yuto passes the baton to Yuri. As he watches the two rattle off silly, goofy lines like, I will destroy the planet, the universe, all the worlds! and, Never! I'll stop you, fiend!, Yuto sighs in relief. At least Yuya now has Yuri to LARP with. Maybe Yugo would volunteer too, once he returned from driving practice and hears about it. Though, he'd likely ask to play the part of the hero himself. Anyway, Yuto's already almost in middle school; he's getting a little too old to play with costumes now. Then afterwards, at dinner, with an angelic smile Yuya says, "Yuuto, can we play like that again sometime? You look so cool with a cape!"

Yuri on the other hand, always had a tendency for the melodramatic, his own personal spin of the theatrics he's seen from his dad! Deep down he really loves playing the villain.

(This was meant to be a short description but I couldn't help putting some fic-like sentences in there tehe also yes that's a reference to the conversation between Yuya and G.O.D./Eve)

Another headcanon I have that I want to write/draw something for is that in the postcanon where Reiji, Yuya, Isaac and Ren travel through space and time together, Yuya has moments where he falters to his grief.

He's used to his brothers commenting and nagging him on almost anything and everything (A midnight snack? Think about your complexion, Yuya!) and his world is suddenly a lot more quiet. In his hurt, he starts to avoid Ren, not wanting to be reminded of what he's lost (He doesn't feel good about it).

Eventually Reiji intervenes and Yuya opens up a little. He's been unable to properly let himself grief for his brothers. All he wants to say is that he misses them.

But he doesn't feel like he has the right to do so, having being the one to seal their fates by personally destroying the one method of bringing them back to life. He doesn't regret his decision of course, but he's unable to stop himself from feeling this way too.

It has a happy ending; Reiji convinces Yuya to talk to Ren. Yuya shares stories about Yugo at Ren's request, making the both of them laugh. Yuya realises that there are other methods of bringing back people to life, too, even if only momentarily.

But it is enough.

Misc hcs:

Yuya's charisma and attitude is a combination of his three brothers fawning over his cuteness from birth and Yuya being so star-struck with Yusho's performances he attempted to replicate the movements ever since he could walk.

Being the oldest, Yuto feels a sense of responsibility for his brothers and pledged to take care of them in place of his always-missing parents. However, he oft times finds himself not having to do much because Yugo and Yuri are so determined to win over Yuya's heart (and be proclaimed 'favourite brother') that they also make sure to set a good example for the youngest when possible. This causes Yuto a little bit of an identity crisis (/j it's just for fun) until he settles into his role as the househusband cook.

Reiji and Yuya are supposed to be silhouetted by their fathers, so Yuzu is meant to seem like she's looking at Yuya, but is in fact looking at Yusho. I also think VJ Yuto should be allowed to smile more!

This drawing is meant to be my love letter to the manga as a whole, and ESPECIALLY the last duel between Reiji and Yuya. I talked about it a whole ton in the review linked above already, so go check that out if you haven't!!

I was really happy with the composition when I first made this, especially with Sora/Ren/Isaac Versus the Yus mirroring their duels! (Well, okay, I know Isaac didn't duel Yuto but.... just give this to me)

Anyway I really wanted a fun and positive energy for it! Every month I think about returning to this but I get slightly demotivated when I realise I have *zero* colour references for both Ren and Isaac... Please send in your headcanons...

Last but not least, last month I got brain worms for another animatic/hand-drawn MV for Eve's Fight Song! I'll never ever have to time to go back to it, but I wanted to take the chance to talk about other songs that make me ill when I think about them with the manga.

This is a fun one, when I watched the PV and in the chorus Lum was spinning I instantly went wow what if that was Phantom.. and then the lyrics bared their claws and sunk them into my brain and hasn't really let go since

Unlike the above two songs, not all of the lyrics are a perfect match, of course, but I adore how in general the whimsical yet lonely nature of the song feels like it fits Phantom so well!

4. Eve - Fight Song

Last but not least the song I posted the above storyboard for! Okay so Luiza and Helena are (bear with me) half-brazillian half-greek lycanthrope Attuned that, with the help of their cringefail dad Kallas, roam around Europe in a barely working RV in search of a cure (in Helena's case) or source of control (in Luiza's case) for their lycanthropic curse, running into a number of very wacky and deadly hijinks involving alchemists and cryptids because canonically Europe is Symphogear's equivalent of a Mad Max continent apparently.

(Also they're kinda running away from SONG too once they discover there's two 17 year olds with two undiscovered relics mucking about in the deadliest place in the world which is very irresponsible but Kallas loves his daughters too much and hates the government just enough as to not hand them over at first)

Kallas is a good dad that tries way too hard to look cool and is also extremely gullible, to the point where he gets most of knowledge from bootleg occult books, which, to his credit are sorta right but also have so much misinformation. Case in point he knows the basics of alchemy but it sorta explodes on his face any time he tries putting it into practice, which is the trend for most things he tries to do.

Luiza is an anime nerd (much to her sister's chagrin) and so she constantly tries to get Helena to make Gurren Lagann references. Half of their battle talk involves Luiza saying something incredibly cringe and Helena holding herself back from slapping her, and vice versa since Helena is a certified theater kid and diet goth.

As for fighting styles, Luiza is completely based around countering opponents with her Rebound Technique and offensive open palm strikes while Helena employs traditional fencing techniques and feints with her half cape. Helena has no idea that her Rati is a Philosophical Armament, but nonetheless ends up making use of its property but visualizing strong foes as "mountains to be overcome". Luiza on the other hand embraces her Angrvadall's special berserk state (which she named "wolfing out") and often makes use of it when push comes to shove. Thankfully, Helena and Kallas can snap her out of it easily enough by singing a certain lullaby to her.

i love love love being the knight concepts because i would kill to be a lady knight,, just imagining the 8 kings of miroh are very weary of who comes in their inner circle but for some reason they completely trust the knight who no matter the circumstances keeps their helmet on. they’ve never spoken a word save for the occasional grunt or hum to assure the kings they’re listening.

one day while returning from another kingdom after a meeting they thought had gone well the carriage is ambushed. the four kings in the carriage are huddled closely together quietly trying to comfort eachother before the door burst opened and a voice rings out with a “come with me, your majesties”

felix is sure the voice sounded quite feminine but he’s honestly too scared to question it, especially when he recognizes the emblem on the cape of the knight. the four follow the knight for a good few leagues before a group jumps in front of them.

the knight quickly swings into battle, easily taking the men down. but not before their helmet could be knocked off their head, falling to the feet of the kings. standing in front of the king is their knight; her hair disheveled & face a little grimy. but none of the four could deny it she’s beautiful

and they’re angry. because how dare she hide her beauty from them this whole time! hyunjin has half a mind to tell her off for “keeping such a secret from them” while jeongin & jisung just stand there slightly gaping. after the dramatics are over the knight simply huffs before putting her helmet back on muttering something about “this is exactly why” and dragging the kings back to the carriages

what inspired your Link’s outfits? I love them!

Thank you! I’m not sure what inspired them but I’ll just talk about them (without pictures cuz I can’t 😔)

Sky: I really loved the green color he had from LU, how everyone had a deeper green shade while he had a lighter, more minty green shade (maybe not minty green but sh), so I went with that color cuz it suited him so well! I also like him having his sash so I keep them. His design sorta changed, I originally had him wearing more baggy clothes, but I added bracers and tightened up his clothes a tad. I also kept his green pants from the beginning of the game cuz I thought that’d look quirky. The biggest things were the sailcloth and loftwing feather. I always vibed with feather earrings, and I wanted the feather to be king, but when I actually drew it, it was a HUGE pain. So I removed it and just put it on his belt. And I put the sailcloth on his belt as well cuz I HATE drawing capes lol. Luckily drawing Sky for a bit made me realize what I liked and disliked about his design so I was able to change some things. I do love the diamond thing on his chest. Admittedly LU inspired the design a lot lol, but in the end I kept some stuff for myself :)

Minish: the Minish clothes inspired his shirt! I found his og shirt very bland so I spiced things up with a leafy shirt and called it a day UwU. I also liked him having a headband with an Ezlo pendant at the end, thought it looked cute! And I think I added some metal toes cuz what if you dropped a hammer on your feet? Anyways, it’s safe to say LU inspired a lot of these designs and I’m not ashamed to admit that (LU did NOT inspire this au tho)

Time: I was actually inspired by bonus Links with their oot Link having a vest. I thought it was a cute and gave my Time a more farm outfit. I made his shirt a more forest green and gave him a weird eyepatch to cover half his face, and then gave him cowboy boots cuz I thought they looked cool. I lvoe his pants cuz he looks like a sexy mom so there’s that lol. Also, about his hair, this is an unpopular opinion but I prefer his short and spiky hair 😔 I’m sorry to the folks who loved the long ponytail. I also added some gloves that I think are strength gloves that aren’t ungraded? Made his outfit more battle ready (in the beginning the Links were in more comfy clothes but I didn’t like that)

Legend: oh boy, he probably has my fav design lol. I sorta added this red sash thing to go against his green shirt and I think it turned out cool! And the red accents look dope as well! I’m particularly proud of his boots, which sorta resemble the Pegasus boots (I think that’s what they’re called 😭). Also I love the idea of legend link hating pants so he wears shorts. He hates pants. He’s just like me fr

Hyrule: I’m not sure how much of Lu inspired my Hyrule, but I always ADORED Lu Hyrule’s floofy hair so I kept that. I kinda like his clothes being baggy and casual, and I made his boots a little scuffed since he travels a lot. Idk what is going on with his design tho. I cant think of anything specific that I did with his design minus the boots and turtle neck (I noticed one of the designs for Zelda 2 had link in a turtle neck and I thought that was perfect for Hyrule). Yeah not many thoughts. Just like the amount of thoughts going through his head

Twi: oh boy, I just gave him a shirt that matched Rusl’s cuz it has a boob window, gave him that dumb arm thing, his ordon sash and obi, and just sorta lightly tweaked his farmer’s outfit. His boots are meant to have goat fur popping out cuz I thought that’d be cool. Plus an ordon goat on his design cuz he likes goats. Not much to say

Four: I looked at all the knights from the FS manga and tried to make him look like that. I always thought his braid and color thing was unique and showed the four colors well. I also made his clothes more white and cream colored cuz I’ve seen four Links as white and then go colorful when they split and I LOVED that. He also gets a cool cape. He sued to have more Arno but I removed it cuz he’s still a kid and I hate drawing Armor.

Windy: oh boy, I had to change his design since I aged him down, but I gave him a sleeveless overcoat since there are a lot of overcoats with pirates. I also gave him a pirate-esque shirt and made his colors more deadpan green which I ADORE. I always liked his gray pants and simple shoes so I kept those!

Spirit: it’s just his engineer outfit, nothing special lol. A boy…

Age: idk how I feel about his design, but I mixed the knight’s outfit with the champion’s tunic with a hint of the zora armor and Mipha’s scale!

Wild: I sorta mixed the Hylian tunic with the champion’s tunic. Again, idk how I feel about it but Wild has his entire wardrobe on him so I can just change his design whenever I want UwU

Warriors: made his scarf look more triangle and covering his neck, and added some pizzaz to it, idk.

" Drawing small doodles in each other’s notebooks, when one day your friend writes ‘I like you’ " with Eddie?

I. Love. This. And I was hoping someone would ask for this one!!

Title: Written Confession Pairing: Eddie Munson/GN!Reader Word Count: 982 (Once again, LMAO)

The library is so quiet you can hear a pin drop, the silence encouraged and endorsed by the absolutely stereotypical woman behind the desk. She’s already shushed you and Eddie twice, and you fear that if she has to do so a third time she may actually drag you out by your ears, so you’ve resorted to scrawling notes in each other’s notebooks. 

You’re at the community library working on the newest campaign for Hellfire, a homebrew campaign that Eddie admitted to biting off a little more than he can chew, so he recruited your help. You’ve been friends for a while, but only grew closer over the last year, after he cornered you after the school play and convinced you to join Hellfire. 

“It’s practically the same as Drama!” He pleaded, “except you can write your own script! Come on, we need a Rogue!”  

Something about his puppy dog eyes and the hopeful smile he sent you, tongue poking out between his teeth earnestly, made you agree. So here you are a year later, helping him write the backstory to his big bad evil vampire man. Granted, the writing came to a grinding halt about a half hour ago. Now you’re passing your designated DnD journal back and forth adding onto the same doodle line by line. 

It started off as a mountain that you tried to draw to depict the vampire’s lair, but Eddie turned the squiggly line into an angry unibrow on the villain’s face, and you both kept adding onto it from there. The giggling from that is what resulted in your first violent shush-ing. 

Eddie dramatically held a finger to his lips, holding back a snicker and pretending to shush you further. 

Then, when you added a cape to the paper man, an addition that Eddie clearly did not agree with, he smacked the table, his heavy metal rings clattering loudly against the wood and his hair whipping around him as he shook his head and wagged a finger at you in disapproval. 

This earns you another shush, and you giggle, whispering, “what? Capes are cool!” 

Passing the book back and forth again, you scoot your chair closer to Eddie’s so you can both hunch over it at the same time. He flips to a new page, starting another collaborative doodle. You lean into each other, shaking with silent laughter at each new line or squiggle, and soon enough, your head is resting on his shoulder as you watch him color in the…pirate hat? Sure, the pirate hat on this current drawing. 

He holds out the pencil to you, and you take it with a smile, unsure of what to add to the piece. You decide to write a message instead. 

I like this… 

Passing it back, you  can practically hear the sarcasm in his voice when he writes out his own and draws an arrow pointing to the pirate. 

yeah - hes a pretty cool dude

You roll your eyes and lift your head to look at him, scrunching your nose and shaking your head. He hasn’t offered the pencil back yet, so you reach out to pluck it from his fingers. He holds his hands up in defense, then motions to the paper with a ‘by all means…’ gesture.

Sure, but he’s cooler. 

Your own arrow points to Eddie. 

He puts on the dramatics, puffing his chest and faking a deep bow, his tongue poking between his teeth as he smiles and you try to hold back more laughter. 

But he isn’t getting the hint. To be fair, you could be more forward, and maybe deciding to admit that your feelings are a little more than ‘friendly’ in a setting where you can’t speak wasn’t the best idea on your part, but now that you’ve started you really don’t want to stop or you’ll lose the nerve. 

Eddie holds his hand out for the pencil, but you shake your head and scrawl out another note, punctuated with a little heart at the end.

I like YOU, Ed. Lots. 

He stares at the paper for a minute too long, and you start to get nervous. Maybe you’ve read into things wrong, maybe he hugs everyone a little too long and lays his head in your lap at Hellfire in a totally platonic way…but then again, there’s color creeping up his neck, a redness touching the tips of his ears when he tucks his hair back, and he swallows thickly as he looks at the paper. His eyes flick up to meet yours, and you smile meekly, almost apologetically, and shrug. 

He smiles back. It’s soft and unsure, but there’s an excitement in his eyes and he reaches out for the pencil. 

Underneath your admission he draws two little letters, his initial and your own, and draws a heart around them. He taps the paper with the eraser with a note of finality, and the smile he was holding back breaks out fully across his face, wrinkling the corners of his eyes and baring his teeth. 

You giggle out loud this time, unable to stop the loud, “for real?” from coming out of your mouth. 

“For a while now, yeah.” He nods, his hand falling to your knee and squeezing with a laugh of his own. The sound of it is music to your ears, but its far too loud in the quiet room. 

The librarian appears over his shoulder, her arms crossed and foot tapping. Eddie closes the book with a slam and throws it in his backpack. “Sorry ma’am,” he says, turning up the charm and holding a hand over his heart. He stands, reaching out to take your hand and pull you up with him, “We were just leaving!” He drags you out into the cool night air by your hand, both of you spouting excited laughter and a very annoyed librarian in your wake.

Here's a cute little head canon you might enjoy

So lately I've been coming up with the strange idea that after the war Adora starts to "Find herself" and realizes that the Brightmoon aesthetic isn't for her, and as a "Horde Baby" she misses the blacks, the gothic designs and even some of the more harsher elements of the Fright Zone (Minus of course the trauma and what not)

So Adora begins going her own Adams family route and having a gothic aesthetic to her. Black gowns spikes crowns, spooky fortress for a house etc etc.

Anyway to the part you might like.

I just imagine Adora spending a lot of time in Dryl and Hordak teaching her how to properly apply black eyeliner she can wear daily, and maybe loaning a big cape or two.

This is so funny! An online friend of mine / long term Facebook friend with whom I exchange art and crafting stuff sent me a cape. A full-on cape! I'd expressed interest in it and it arrived today. It's red. It's not exactly a proper villain-cape, though. It's a short-cape and in-model resembles somewhat the cape worn by Meryl Stryfe in the original run of Trigun (anime), like a half-cape. But, you know, I know what it's like to have a friend who will give you a handmade adcape. Which is pretty cool. It would be funny to have an innocent / benevolent take on the "Despara" idea! You know, I've had an idea long-term regarding Adora and "Fright Zone things" in terms of food of all things. Like, we all know that Adora discovers regular Etherian food and is all over it, but I always liked the thought that "she misses ration bars sometimes" and finds a way to procure them. This thought struck me when I was contemplating my love of the McRib along with my knowledge that it was originally developed as an army-ration before it became a fast food item. I thought of my love of "crappy" poor-people food born out of being a poor person that would probably continue on in my life if were were to ever by some improbable stroke of luck become rich. I just sort of thought "the girl grew up on army rations, so maybe she'd have this inexplicable love for them that would gross out her Princess friends." Except Entrapta - she likes how small and efficient they are. An entire aesthetic? Yeah, works too. I see this going double for Catra, who absolutely does not strike me as the pink and sparkly Barbie-aesthetic princess-type!

first appearance of survivor and hunter, i did them in an aggie with my kismesis... although i drew on half of the canvas,, survivor looks very disasterous here because i was struggling to give them the most "neutral" clothes (the lines on their skirt is the the survivor karma/symbol) (ill get to it in the next image

concept ideas for all of the symbols for the scugs, originally was going to also include the karma theyre associated with, but i quickly dropped that realizing how "complex" it would be on their designs, especially rivulets. you can actually still see this in monks design! their necklace still has the monk karma on it x)

more survivor outfit failures... i think this would look too weird for me + unconventional in an environment where they have to run around the world (thats why i gave most of them shorts/clothes that make them move better. except for saint of course.) also, survivor with this outfit looks like toriel LOL

i reeeeaaaaally disliked spearmasters older design. it looks uncomfortable. there was another one where they wore long black gloves and thigh highs (again, i did not like it so i deleted it and kept redrawing it.) sm also appears more spiky here, but the texture was too rough for me if that makes sense. i did not like the scarf either...

oh, yeah. i kept the artificer pose from this because it was too cool to let go !!! amazing considering i drew it with my finger on ibis paint haha

heres the third bundle... i changed the rivulets pose because they looked like they were holding in a pee........... saint looked too dramatic so i changed it too

speaking of saint, this is their older design, i didnt keep the long hair because i thought it looked a bit too silly. i still prefer the one with short hair! also rivulet has way more frills in this than their current design

and hey! speaking of rivulet, coming back to this. i kept changing their colors because something was bothering me and i couldnt figure it out! was satisified enough with the current one though

going back to saint again, i was going to make them have a pink robe but it blended in with the tongue too much so i made it orange instead! strawberry saint would be... very interesting though!

heres vibes i wanted to have for each of the scugs and their shape language

monk = friendly, energetic, joyful, some sort of childish shape

survivor = neutral, unsure, wary, a mix of shapes intented to not make you feel anything

hunter = hostile, cool, alert, sharp shape

downpour ones!!

gourmand = "cool uncle" energy (i dont know how to explain it), silly, round shapes

artificer = dangerous, rough, unhinged, spiky shape

spearmaster = mysterious, elegant but still dangerous, agile, sharp shapes

rivulet = the "athletic dude" (gender neutral), bubbly (get it?), very long shape (i also made them the tallest scug due to how tall swimmers are the fastest)

saint = smirky, calm, quiet, cozy shape

id also like to mention this- the reason why hunters clothes are purple is because they are associated with nsh! not a detail that many people notice. also another thing that i put thd detail in, since monk and survivor are siblings i made their clothing styles similar to each other!!! the brainrot goes so hard!!!! i think thats enough rambling,, as i have many things to do..

"the fact that dickbabs is toxic" One, not an objective fact. Two, no it isn't. Three, no, really, it isn't.

That’s honestly just two things instead of three babe. Also yeah, dickbabs IS toxic overall. Is every comic, tv, or movie representation of them toxic? No. But are many? Yes. Especially with how the fandom will portray them as well.

Babs most of the time is older than Dick by a lot.

The problem with this is that she did basically see him grow up. She was there when he was Robin to when he became nightwing. She would be able to legally drink and vote when he couldn’t even have a license half the time. We’ve seen her get aged down just for the relationship. That could be argued to be a good thing but it could also be argued to be bad because why should she have to be aged down for a male character, right?

Also her being deaged takes away so much from her character. It completely changes her story. And listen, don’t know about you anon but anyone having to change themselves or be changed for a love interest ain’t gonna be a healthy relationship.

Also when they first get together it wasn’t good. Dick cheated. And then gives Babs an invitation to his future wedding, with Kori, right after doing the you know what.

That is a start to something not healthy at all. And that’s full on blame for Dick. (Also just bad writing because god was this unneeded)

Also, this relationship have some racist undertones one could say. Twice Dick ends up in a romantic relationship with a black women but oh no gotta make room for the white woman. Since apparently for Dick and Nightwing to be at his best he’s gotta be with white woman Barbara Gordon.

Which is once again going with the whole idea that to be their best selves they need to be with each other. News flash people you don’t need to be with someone to be your best self. Why can’t Dick stay with a woman he fell in love with? Why is it that in order to be considered his best he has to be with Babs?

Also the plain out disrespect that writers and fans have for Kori because of this ship. Why must one love interest have her relationship with the guy completely reduced and ignored? Why must she be made as lesser for the other love interest to succeed? Dickbabs is a toxic ship that affects other characters as well.

And Barbara is a jealous person. This if all fine and good, many people are, many hero’s are, I myself am a self proclaimed jealous person. But this time she let it get in the way of hero work, of building a powerful team. She chose to not include Kori in the group/team, Birds Of Prey because of Kori’s past relationship with Dick. The fact that Babs is letting her jealousy affect her work now is not good, especially considering what they all do. Kori is powerful, she would have been incredibly helpful. Babs letting her jealousy get the better of her with something this important isn’t good and only leaves the question of how many times will something like this keep happening as long as dickbabs is still present. (Also putting two very smart and talented woman against each other isn’t cool DC)

Now boundaries, a key point in all relationships. Something Babs has trouble with. Including her relationship with Dick.

Ever heard of the Grayson cam? It’s what Babs uses in Chuck Dixon's Nightwing and Birds of Prey of her spying on him. Without his permission. Dick Grayson has a past with being sexualized, especially by women. Babs is just one of the many, and is sadly his girlfriend in many things. This is a huge red flag and not okay at all. Anon, how would you feel if you had a SO who was spying on you? In your home where you should feel safest? With you completely unaware? I would feel violated that’s for fucking sure.

And it’s not just that, oh no, the boundary crossing doesn’t end there. She is constantly over riding his decision. Out of the capes and in them. Now Dick is a leader, he’s been a hero since before he was 13. He knows what he’s doing, been doing it longer than her. At the very least she could listen to him but she doesn’t. That’s not a healthy relationship.

Now let’s get into Babs and her being disabled being something that is taken away in order for these two to be together. You read that correctly, our beloved girl behind the screen who didn’t stop being a hero just because she’s now disabled is something that was completely erased in order for these two be in a relationship.

In Nightwing (1996) #86 these two broke up because Babs was having a hard time with Dick talking about the past, when he was Robin and she was Batgirl, when she wasn’t in a wheelchair. Now Tom fucking Taylor puts them together again and suddenly they’re back together! Bravo! Good as new! Except oh, whats this? Babs is no longer disabled! Oh well, who cares? As long as dickbabs are together. How many shows and movies and yes comics still have them together and Babs is still kicking it as batgirl? Why does her having a disability have to be changed in order for these two to be together? Does it make her less perfect? Once again not very healthy and terrible fucked up writing.

Now let’s talk about big changes to Dick’s character. Say goodbye to the OG Titans, his best friends, since when Babs is in the picture that doesn’t exist anymore and neither does his love interest where in an alternative universe/future they do get married and have kid. (Aka Kori). This relationship always has to be number one. Can neither have other friends or relationships? Must it always be just each other? Must their entire world revolve around the other so much that they might as well have no connections outside of Gotham?

Now I don’t have a problem with people shipping them. I’m just saying y’all can’t ignore the fact that this indeed is a toxic relationship. Of course I do have my personal opinions that cause me to have a stronger dislike for the ship itself but that’s just me.

I’m not saying it’s bad to ship them or don’t ship them, just be aware of exactly what you are shipping. I hope these at the very least teaches some people about this ship. It’s okay to get more or new information and to change opinions about stuff. It’s okay to grow.
