When I was younger, we had a clock in the garage that would sing bird calls every hour, instead of chiming or ticking or the regular things clocks do. (......I am fairly sure it was exiled to the garage by my mother, who hated the hollow, tinny sound of it.) Anyway, I mostly remember that clock because the mourning dove call was so distinctive---twoo, twoo, too too too, too too too. I can shut my eyes and hear that song, and it taught me to identify it with unerring precision, even though I couldn't pick out another birdcall to save my life.

To this day, mourning doves are one of my favorite birds. and when I caught sight of one perched delicately on my bird feeder I lost my ever loving mind and will take it as a sign of good things to come.

Like when I waddle up to work and have to pretend I don't see the confused and shocked glances my coworkers give me as my huge, obviously overstuffed gut loudly suffocates in my too-small uniform, embarrassed out of my mind because I couldn't help myself from devouring a cake and a large helping of leftover spaghetti (needed something savory after cake!!) straight out of the pot right before leaving and it's obvious what a huge glutton i made myself to be.

I've been doing this a lot lately, I've been trying to not do it so much at the new job but I can't help that I'm meant to be very very fat, more and more lately I find myself having to sit down and catch my breath the moment I clock in, sit my ass down in my work chair that's been feeling way too tight recently, wiping away the sweat that's accumulated on my forehead in just the waddle over and try desperately to not unbutton my pants and rub my belly openly.

Then I'm in Stuffed Belly Hell for the first couple hours of my shift, and then I get to feel heavy, bloated and soft all over for the rest of it until I get home and finally unbutton my pants and let my gut free. And then because I no longer feel constricted, I'll sit right in my computer chair (once again, too tight lately) and I'll get high and eat more and more until I have to until I can't possibly eat another bite without puking, I sleep it all off and then the cycle continues. No wonder I'm getting so fat

I would think that they talked about it sometime during the events of "Old Times Gone By". I wasn't able to cram it into the interlude then but Reader and Vox are quite literally stuck in an odd juxtaposition by the narrative lolol

You could look at it in the literal sense where one is alive and the other is dead-

But you could also look at it comparing personalities-

Reader is mostly nonchalant, just relaxed and a very much- go with the flow person.

Vox is- well- Vox. He's manic, he's obsessive, and he's also slightly a control freak.

They have enough differences to look like an odd sort of yin-yang but with enough similarities to still get along.

For example, I think I wrote in other interludes that it wasn't above Reader to play hands under the table. Like they weren't above getting down and dirty to mess with others, similar to how Vox often uses hypnosis to make sure other sinners heed his words.

When it comes to how they talk about things- here's a snippet of text I had cut out from the interlude since it didn't fit so smoothly into my narrative anymore:

Vox is in hell and Reader is aware that he's definitely done something to deserve being there- but with what he's shown her thus far- it's not out there to expect that they'd be optimistic in a possibility that he could change for the better. They think he's... misguided at best and just an egocentric capitalist with issues at worst. Also Reader does have gripes with the fact he turns a blind eye a lot, but it's business- what can you do? Though again, they would probably get on his ass for it once they're down in hell with him. XD
