“This is his building. Seventh floor. He’s fine, I promise. Well, mostly, I guess, but he can work, if that’s what you’re worried about.”

“Damn. There’s no way his apartment survived,” Lena said, stating what Eddie, and most definitely Buck, already knew.

“Yeah, he’s staying with us. Well, if Bobby doesn’t force him to stay with him and Athena. And Maddie, now that I think about it. I think I have competition?”

“Diaz, Buckley, report. That was an earthquake, we need to get you out before the first aftershock hits,” Bobby calls out on the radio.

“Buckley reporting. I have the couple with me. Eddie… fell when the tremors hit. He was standing on the ledge. His rope snapped.”

There was silence for a second. Then, “Get out of there. We’re sending another crew down. Get the couple out of there. That’s a direct order.” A pause. “We’ll find him Buck, don’t worry.”

SWEET {CHAPTER ONE}

Ellie x reader(NOTES: modern au, fem presenting au, She/her pronouns used, parties, crushes, spying, and slight mention of hypoglycemia(ever so slightly)- yes i'm projecting- this is gonna be some slow burn shit babes, cat, breakups, sorta fast-paced but it’s the first chapter so cut me some slack babes 💀🪻)

(first day of school)

The 12th grade was a shitty year to move schools. Three years of building friend ships, learning class routes, and most importantly getting teachers to like you all destroyed with the simple words “you’re mom got a promotion y/n! We’re moving to Wyoming!”

The first time y/n saw her, Ellie was peacefully unaware of the fact that she was being spied on at all. It was a Sunday and she was killing time in the school computer lab after her band practice. No one else was supposed to be there, y/n had just moved into town with her parents, and the snobby principal was giving them an “all-out tour of their perfect establishment”

It was near the end of summer break, and the kind of humid that makes you feel sticky and uncomfortable. Ellie was wearing a tank top that could easily be mistaken for a sports bar, black skinny jeans, and her crusty dusty black Converse that she had refused to get rid of despite the hole on the inside of the shoe, and constant harassment from Dina about how embarrassing it was to walk next to her wearing “world war ll shoes”.

Y/n hadn't meant to spy on her at all in fairness. She’d gotten bored of the forced “Ooooo and ahhhs” of her parents and wandered around. By the time it had hit her how long she had been standing there, y/n had looked like a complete stalker. Her nose just barely brushed the door, manicured hand gripping the door frame as if it was super glued.

She finally snapped out of it when the brown-haired girl turned slightly in her swivel chair, briefly facing the entrance. Y/n booked it away from the door, back pressed against the lockers at the other end of the hall leaving her slightly winded, a metallic taste in her mouth as she tried to calm her heavy breathing. After about 5 minutes of silence from all around and the occasional sound of ticking from the multiple classroom clocks, y/n sped back around in an effort to look for her parents. She hadn’t meant to react so hastily, but if she was seen by the stranger that would be one conversation she’d regret having to awkwardly explain.

“Ah, there she is! Y/n y/l/n! I see you’ve taken you’re own tour!” The principal laughed to himself slightly, amused by his own idea of humor “That wraps it up for today! We’ve emailed you your classes and a full map of the school. Make sure to be here first thing Monday morning at 8:30 just in case we need to be going over a few more things”

It was the first day of school, and y/n was secretly hoping to see the random girl she’d accidentally spied on again.

The brown-haired girl, with really pretty freckles and a nice aura. She wanted to be friends with her. Y/n was good at making friends too, usually, if you didn’t count that one time in the 10th grade when a girl physically sped-walked away from Y/n’s enthusiastic approach to speak with her.

“Phone? Check, backpack? Check, lunch? Check..” y/n trailed off mumbling to herself in hopes that she hadn’t forgotten anything as she made her way downstairs.

“Breakfast? Nope don’t see a check there” Y/n’s father smiled while pushing a small plate with strawberries, toast, and a few slices of apple on it. “Dad I’m fine I’ll eat at lunch we’ve been over this before” the time read 8:15 “I’ve got like 15 minutes to get to school, I don’t have time today- but I appreciate it ” y/n’s father grimaced, the girl almost never ate breakfast, but still complained about the headaches, occasionally vomiting, and weakness when she’d come home after a long day. “ at least take a banana or muffin will you? Just for on the way?” He tried to bargain with her for his own peace of mind, and it worked. “ will it make you happy?” Y/n questioned and he smiled “fine”

Y/n stuffed a muffin in her bag and shouted a “Bye! Love you” before stepping out.

…

Lunch break was the only time of day that Ellie had usually enjoyed besides her journal rants that could span from 12am to 3am occasionally. Not much else really did it for her. The promise of hanging out with friends while occasionally stuffing food in her face was promising.

“Have you heard about the new girl yet?” Dina asked, shoving her backpack into jesses arms as per usual, not that he wanted to but to be higher up on Dina’s “good boyfriend scale” he endured carrying her heavy ass bag every break for the past 2 years. “ we have a new student?” Ellie mumbled, eyes locked on her phone. “ do you live under a rock or something? It’s all that everyone’s been talking about! We live in the middle of butt fuck nowhere we don’t exactly get a new student everyday els” Dina cursed how out of the loop Ellie was. Despite being somewhat socially relevant, and being in band as well as a few other clubs Ellie was almost always never paying attention to things she deemed ‘boring people matters.’

“I sit behind her in French, she seems pretty neat to be honest- really cool backpack actually, it has a bunch of pins and shit on it” Jesse finally piped up as they sat down outside under one of the many trees outside. “ what neater than me?” Dina joked, raising her eyebrow at him.

Jesse playful pushed her and they started their usual lunchtime banter while Ellie drifted off from the conversation slightly. It wasn’t that she wasn’t interested in conversing today but rather that she’d stayed up till 4 in the morning arguing with Cat on Snapchat again. They’d gotten into a really messy breakup back in May- given that it was now September Ellie thought that Cat would be over her usual bullshit of posting photos with other girls and tagging Ellie just to try and spark something outta her. It never did affect Ellie at all, not emotionally at least- however being tagged a shit load of times by someone who was clearly trying to egg her got old after a while. Her calm text of “Can you please cut it out” ended up spurring an argument which resulted in a final block from Ellie, something she’d wish she had done sooner but couldn’t due to how close they used to be.

As Ellie's mind drifted back to the present, she realized that her friends had stopped talking and were now staring at her expectantly. "Sorry, what were you guys saying?" she asked, trying to shake off the remnants of her late-night argument. Her friends exchanged a knowing look before continuing their conversation. “ we’re going to a party tonight- you in?” Jesse asked, wrapping an arm around Dina “Uh maybe who’s, house?” “Owen’s- it’s some shitting first-day thing- but there’s gonna be alcohol and weed so ya know”

Ellie knew Joel wouldn’t exactly be exactly enthusiastic about Ellie attending a party on a school night, but it had been months since she’d gone to one and the thought of letting loose was enticing. “I’ll think about it ” “WOO THE THREE MUSKETEERS BACK AT IT” Dina yelled excitedly. Since the breakup with Cat Ellie hadn’t budged on her willingness to join Jesse or Dina to any group events, especially parties. “If you don’t stop with those goofy ass nicknames I’m gonna beat your ass someday and I said MAYBE” Ellie joked, getting Dina’s foot shoved at her side, Jesse watching as they pushed each other around on the grass. After a few minutes, they eventually calmed down and Ellie piped up “Okay fine I’ll come- but you better bring your stash just in case Owen has those shitty ass white boy rolls” pointing a finger at Jesse.

For Ellie usually everything after lunch was a bit of a blur. This semester however she had genuinely enjoyed the classes she’d gotten[math, science, English, and lastly advanced art history ] it was nice but made her day seem more dreadful and lengthy. Each class was roughly an hour and a half give or take, however now that Ellie knew that she was going to be attending a party and getting high it seemed like her classes spanned 5.

1:50 shined brightly on her deformed iPhone, the realization hitting that she was already 10 minutes late. “Well look who decided to grace us with her presence, Williams take a seat beside y/l/n” Miss.Blight announced loudly, the whole class's attention looking towards Ellie. “Fuck me” she mumbled under her breath, walking to her seat, barely taking notice of the person sitting beside her. “Excuse you?” “Nothing” she huffed out. Ellie knew she got lucky when she ended up getting English again. One of her favorite subjects, however, she’d only truly enjoyed it previously due to the teacher being one of those ditzy teachers who paid more attention to texting their boyfriend than being a real teacher. This gave Ellie a lot of room for creative freedom while writing, not to mention the fact that she was sure the teacher would most likely give her an A no matter what she wrote.

It really wasn’t until Ellie had actually gathered her barring and gotten out her Chromebook that she’d noticed the girl beside her wearing something that if she wasn’t new would easily get her sent home for “being too comfortable showing any kind of skin no matter the body type or size”. Ellie couldn't help but admire the girl’s confidence to wear her outfit without seeming to care. Ellie also noticed how pretty she was, Jesse had said she was neat but never mentioned anything about the new girl being hot. She knew she shouldn’t try to start anything given her past attempts at talking to girls failing terribly, it felt like a part of her had lost the spark since cat, instead, she decided to focus on her own work. Listening to the teacher regurgitate the same bullshit about nouns she’d heard in the first grade.

“Hi, um sorry I’m y/n.. not to bug you but I can’t seem to think of another word for ‘lovely’ and Google wasn’t much help- do you know any words perhaps similar...IT'S COOL IF YOU DON'T AND I APPRECIATE THE-” y/n trailed off slightly. Y/n could definitely think of multiple words that could replace ‘Lovely’ but knew that this was the most casual window of opportunity to talk to the brunette without coming off as “too much” some would say. “Sweet? And I’m guessing you’ve gathered I’m Ellie” She cut the other girl off slightly, trying her best not to sound awkward. “Gosh, why didn’t I think of that, thank you! I really like your necklace by the way”

"Thank you, I appreciate it," Ellie replied with the best smile she could muster. "It was a gift from an old friend, she gave it to me on my birthday a few years ago." Y/n smiled back, feeling a little more confident about their conversation. "That's really sweet," she said, using the word Ellie had suggested earlier. "I wish I had something so cool." "Yeah, she was pretty amazing," Ellie agreed. "Anyway, how’s your first day been so far- besides this grumpy hag” Y/n laughed a bit, she’d also noticed how shitty the English teacher seemed to be from her constant low muttering about how much she hated high school kids and teaching. “It’s been okay I guess, I mean I haven’t really talked to very many people. There’s this one guy in my history class that asked how I was doing but that’s about all. The school is pretty nice though”

The brunette nodded “Yeah a lot of people here just sorta stick to themselves or their friends, but the school itself is okay I guess” Ellie didn’t know what took her over but she felt somewhat obligated to ask her next question. “Ya know there’s this like super lame guy, Owen. He’s throwing some party tonight for back to school- ya think I’ll see you there?”

Y/n choked, she’d never been to a party- and definitely never asked by someone of Ellie’s nature. “Uh I don’t know I’ve never really been to one and” “Oh no problem you can always hang with me and my friends- not to mention I’m sure there’s gonna be a lot of people so I’m sure you won’t really have to worry too much about anyone caring ”Ellie spoke abruptly, sounding rushed. “Okay then yeah I’ll see you there…here’s my number just text me the address” y/n mumbled, pulling Ellie’s Chromebook closer towards herself so she could type her phone number onto the Google doc.

Then the bell rang.

As the day went on, Ellie felt a growing sense of excitement mixed with nerves. She hadn't been to a party in months, and she wasn't sure if she was ready to let go of her hermit lifestyle just yet, but as she and her friends piled into Jesse's rusty car, and headed to the party, she laid back, finally letting the feeling of excitement hit her. “what is with you fuckers and having the most old and disturbing shit” Dina spoke loudly, already tipsy from a bottle of wine that Jesse had stolen from his parent's liquor cabinet. She was referring to Jesse’s car and Ellie’s shoes, both of which had looked like they’d been through hell and back. “The car is not ‘old’ it’s vintage” Jesse argued, the car was passed down to him and despite his work on it the car didn’t look much better. “ can both of you shut up- and get off my ass about the shoes all the bitches love ‘em,” Ellie said with a smirk, knowing damn well that she needed to throw them out someday.

As they arrived at the party, Ellie's nerves started to get the best of her again. She hadn't been around so many people in a long time, and she wasn't sure how to act, but as she stepped out of the car and saw the bright lights as well as the deafening thumping music, she felt a surge of excitement return. “Woooo let’s go bitches” Dina jumped out of the car and ran for the front door, Jesse huffing behind her. “Idiots” Ellie mumbled to herself.

Ok outside of firmly believing that those parents HAVE to be legacies (esperanza ESPECIALLY or at least she saw thru the mist) I'm just gonna blab about an AU that makes me laugh. The way I spent 30 mins writing this instead of my finals...

Quick run down: the three of them were friends, tristan and beryl as childhood friends actually, and then they accidentally kill a man (monster)

Beryl:

Grew up poor in a small town, "trailer trash", extremely critical alcoholic mother. Dad left when she was a kid. Had an older brother who left as soon as he could and never calls

Enjoyed watching movies and tv to imagine a better life she can live in

Nerdy as hell in school, wore the biggest glasses in the world. Had a huge crush on tristan for YEARS, especially when he got hot in high school, but liked him before too

Esperanza

Has the sight, can see thru the mist and it scares the shit out of her. Part of why Rosa thinks Leo is fucking devilspawn cuz Esperanza thought she was seeing demons. She moved around a lot growing up because of that fear, but also Hazel's curse

Kinda a rebellious punk, wildchild younger sibling. Her and Rosa are CONSTANTLY fighting

She moves into Tristan and Beryl's town in high school, after her mom died.

There's a satyr and demigod in her class. She doesnt think too much of it. Her teacher is weird....

Tristan

Kinda geeky, has 5 siblings but never talks about them too much. Was always a very sweet and quiet kid. Childhood friends with beryl, also poor too

Super into Ezperanza because she's different. Even when she's weird and mumbling about being chased she's still sooo cool compared to the town they're in.

Okay so now that they're in high school... I think this would be the early 80s 🙂 they essentially are together in a rag tag group, lost trio style, until they see a demigod getting attacked. Tristan hits the monster with his car. The 3 of them are HORRIFIED because they killed a man, but Esperanza keeps talking about monsters and explains it. The demigod's satyr is fucking young Hedge 💀 he's shit at his job so he just tells them about demigods and stuff.

Beryl is slowly ENAMORED by this. Starts drinking from this event but she is DELIGHTED by the idea of a new better world out there. Ezperanza feels like SHIT! She thinks this is all her fault and she's cursed. Tristan is going CRAZY, racked with grief. He is not doing well at ALL!!!!

Anyway they go to college with this in California together, mostly out of being closer but also fear of this secret (dead body) weighing on them. A few more monster and minor god encounters. Eventually, Hedge has to mist-wipe Tristan's memories because hes going crazy, which causes Hedge's issue with the Council of satyr elders or whatever. Idk its in the books lol. But this causes them all to separate and go their separate ways when Tristan can't remember the other two.

Beryl drops out of college, and gets scouted as she is waitressing. Has her big break, goes onto TV and gets famous. She begins to forget some of the little things about how much the demigod world is HORRIBLE. Once, she meets up with Esperanza and they stumble into a minor god, which makes her remember how much she wants to be in that world. She meets Zeus at a party :) and thinks he's charming and powerful, just different. It reminds her of the monster experience. She fucks that man obviously. Desire for something different to her shit life. She is CRAZY!!! 🩷

Esperanza goes to New Rome Uni because i luv that place idk if they allow mortals but she will!!!!! When her great grandfather falls ill (Sammy) she demands hepaestus to stay with her. He doesn't obviously, but he promises to come back, if not for her than for Leo. He has to. He doesn't.

Tristan doesn't go to college, he just works at like, fucking Hollister or Abercrombie because he's hot now. He meets Aphrodite a few times but she's busy and he doesnt give in. Eventually they meet at the beach surfing and she's like "I've been trying to get your attention for a while now"... She doesn't tell him she's a goddess but Tristan kinda has a familiar feeling. He's forgotten what it was but she just feels different. When piper grows up, aphrodite sends little gifts to "her favorite heartthrob" and he just gives it to Piper.

......

Anyway it was just putting little seeds together + being crazy. Beryl and Esperanza sometimes still talked. They met once when they were pregnant and talked about their kids playing together. Esperanza, seeing theu the mist, had an idea that Beryl was fucking a god, but its not like she has high standing either. Beryl and Tristan bumped into each other with their acting careers, but Tristan doesnt really remember Beryl the way he should. Esperanza and Tristan have some kind of twisted relationship I fear of will they, wont they with Beryls jealousy 🙄 such it is. Naturally the same with Beryl and Esperanza 🙏

I had a long year, so I didn't get to write as much as I would have liked to, but we still got a ton done.

1. How many words have you written this year? 180,453 words.

2. How many works did you publish this year? Somehow the answer is eleven.

3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)? Reckless Abandon. Hands down. It took so much time to plan and so much energy to write and I am so proud of it. I'm writing the ending of the first draft right now and I'm sad to leave it behind.

HOWEVER I also very much enjoyed The Last Time, which is my Nilcent fic. I think just in terms of quality, this is one of my most beautifully written fics.

4. What work of yours has the most hits? The fics I have with the most hits is Reckless Abandon, but I think that's because it's the only one from this year that had more than one chapter.

5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected? Dress Up As ! I wrote that in like 30 minutes while half asleep and then didn't edit it, so I didn't think anyone would read it at all lol. It's not my most popular fic by any means, but more people read it than I thought would.

6. Favorite title you used? Wilhelm's Frog Addiction because it's so ridiculous. It implies that Wilhelm needs a rehab for frogs, and I think that's great.

7. If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most? I used the title of The Last Time from a Taylor Swift song, but I think that was the only one.

8. Pairing you wrote the most for this year? Wilhelm/Simon Eriksson with 9 out of 11 fics being about them or containing them in some way. (damn thats an unfortunate statistic)

9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year? Obviously Wilmon. I feel like that's a given at this point.

10. What work was the quickest to write? Dress Up As... again, I wrote it in 30 minutes while half asleep💀

11. What work took you the longest to write? If we rule out the one that's multi-chapter for fairness sake, then the fic that took me the longest to write was probably Not Entirely Screwed (But Almost). But take that with a grain of salt.

12. How many WIPs do you have in your docs for next year? Two or three that I actually plan on finishing. I have others that are started, but I don't know if I have enough plot to actually get through them.

13. What’s your longest work of the year? Reckless Abandon, containing 123k of my 180k words this year 💀

14. What’s your shortest work of the year? A Fool Proof Guide - 507 words.

15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you? Finishing Reckless Abandon! One chapter to edit and an epilogue to finish writing, and then it's done. I just can't finish it in the two days I have left of the year 😭

17. Your favorite character to write this year? I simply cannot answer this. My mind has been so consumed with Reckless Abandon and the switching POVs that I literally cannot choose one.

18. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year? I think I might like to write more of Felice's platonic pairings next year. I feel like I neglect her because I don't really ship her with anyone.

19. Which work of yours have you reread the most? The Thing In The Mirror. It's kind of a love letter to my grief, so sometimes I go back and read it when I'm feeling down.

20. How many kudos in total did you get this year? 2,754

21. Which work has the most comments? Reckless Abandon, but again, it's the only one with more than one chapter so that makes sense.

22. Did you do any collaborative works this year? Not this year! Maybe next year. Dani and I don't write "together" per se, but we do bounce a lot of ideas off each other, so if that counts then yes, but nothing plotted and written and posted together.

23. Did you write any gifts this year? I did! I wrote for YR Week, which wasn't a gift, but an event. And I wrote a Christmas gift for Nic!

24. Did you receive any gifts this year? Yes yes yes! A beautiful, perfect Christmas gift from @pagegirlintraining I enjoyed every word of it.

25. What’s your most common category? M/M

26. What do you listen to while writing? Not much, actually. I have the Reckless Abandon Playlist, but I only really used that when outlining.

27. Favorite work you wrote this year? For the sake of not repeating myself, out off the ones I haven't mentioned yet, Isn't That Your Thing? and Patience Is A Virtue are my favorite little crack fics.

28. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year? Oh jesus, that's impossible. I don't think I can choose just one. I can give you one that makes me think "holy shit I can write" though:

This piece of work — the one staring Stella in the face — was a revolution made of oil paint.

29. Biggest surprise while writing this year? I can write smut. And people don't hate it somehow.

ANYWAY livestream over nice 30 pulls of aventurine funds for anni!!!! they didnt do anything insane but honestly it was kinda cope to expect them to, ratio for free was clearly a more of a spontaneous move and hes available throughout anniversary anyway so the "another 5*" were.... a little over the top im sorry wjkjwdjkwdjk altho i wouldnt have complained obviously. a free himeko or sth couldve been on theme for the cosmodussy event but eh cant be helped

im actually glad for the skippability of the reruns 😭😭 like i have luocha n jingliu (+ LC for latter) so by skipping acheron for now im gonna have a nice time getting aventurine and most likely his LC (2/3 of his 4* LC selection is so sad tho), love that fucker hope he gets to do proper mayhem in story too. cool death talk please dont actually die yourself for real for real tho i will be sad. like i do think its based of aventurine to pull off a stunt that appears to be what we in the business might call a certified chapter 5 komaeda moment but. ahahaha nooo dont actually die youre such a funny hat man .

(also sick boss form is sick but . bootleg FL im sorry aventurine. they hit perfection already and theyre never fucking topping the galaxy cape cyclops eye beak mask drip i swear JSWJWJDKWJKDWJK but also yes me biased? in favor of that ginger? i could never)

but it seems ill have a solid time getting aventurine and saving up for now??? since i dont think im too interested in robin or boothill either. i was kinda worried topaz' rerun would be in 2.1 for IPC antics with aventurine bc i am kinda curious abt pulling for her but now its gonna be 2.2 at the earliest so. the stream ran a bit too long lmao but like overall i tend to like the dev discussions so most of it was still neat, altho downside of dev streams is that not knowing chinese i cant just like. afk and listen on headphones and go get water or something 💀💀 and they were definitely dragging stuff out on purpose no way they werent but eh. people will live its just bideo game livestream. and like these folks do hard work on the game they can yap about what they do sometimes its only right lmao

leakers public shaming session was definitely a jumpscare but i do genuinely empathize w shaoji on that one. like. ive always been one for kit + banner leaks first and foremost and story leaks just. i dont care for them much. ive had my share of looking at them occasionally but i definitely agree with the way story leaks either by themselves or when misconstrued and misinterpreted really fucking mess with the intended experience for any given story and how that must feel like shit for the writers. like if story leaks stopped happening altogether id be perfectly content. and thats just ppl who look at story leaks on purpose cuz. im not going to even begin w how like. yes the leaks subreddits and most big leakers do spoiler warnings and keep the story stuff spoilered. but then theres literally the entire rest of the internet where shit gets spread untagged and without warnings the second they are posted anywhere at all and how that fucking ruins peoples experiences. like its 1 thing to click at a spoiler tagged post knowingly and get ur experience messed up with. but when u dont even want to see it its rly fucking bad and i v well understand condemning all story leaks (even those properly flagged) just on that basis alone. but yeah actually felt bad for him there and see where he was coming from for sure, even as a consumer of leaks

Anyway. biggest priority is holding strong w skipping acheron as sick as her animations are but def looking forward to her teaser and the animated short. like . even with the black swan dykery. (that was a fucking jumpscare too). i dont need her rn. despite how cool she is 😭😭

& also have to say im v happy they clarified their stance on hi3rd references like. the way theyre going abt it is absolutely how it should be going. hsr by nature is more directly linked to hi3rd like honkai is in the name but its such a dumbass idea (like some fan takes out there....) to want the stories of hsr depend on another games lore. rewarding old fans with easter eggs and tidbits is perfectly fine and im even interested in seeing where they go with acherons obvious raiden situation - especially knowing theyre not about to ruin their own story with "it was hi3rd all along!" (not that i ever rly thought theyd seriously blunder that bad lmao 💀) . so yea thats neat

i think story wise im not gonna say much of my thoughts bc unfortunately i have clicked on like. a leak or four. not the major stuff i dont think but enough that commenting on stuff w some of the things im aware of in the periphery is going to tint stuff . but im still excited to see where things go!!!

AAND OH. ACTUALLY i do have one more thing . so the multiple POV thing being actually implemented is SOOOO good im so fucking happy theyre committing to it being a thing 😭😭😭 like SO many story pitfalls can be avoided by just letting it be that TB doesnt need to be fucking everywhere a major thing happens as the centerpiece of events so we as players can see it. like it gives a way of showing different events and sides of characters in a much more natural manner its sooo good that theyre implementing it already. like this alone has me in such high hopes for the story going forward. like yea theyve branched from our POV before already and in penacony as well but expanding on it even more is 100% the correct way forward

last thing: god they did jingliu so dirty in her concert illustration. WHAT is she wearing 💀💀💀anyway yeah lesgo 2.1 its cool

28. Favorite work you wrote this year?

💀💀💀 I love all my children equally but for sure "Every year with you is better than the last" (Cale Makar/Devon Toews, hockey rpf) because it was hard to write, but I wrote it in a way that really satisfied me and I'm pretty proud of the final product. I went on a like journey of Biblical grief trying to get it posted (hot tip: make sure you closed all your html tags. jfc I hate AO3) but I am really proud of the fic itself now that I've put a couple months between me and the experience of posting it lol

29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

I had some banger lines this year but I think I have yet to match:

I answered this but I will say my other...surprise? re-discovery that I don't love my personal reaction to? is that generally if you are not writing rarepairs, people will read your fic 🙃 like I'm never going to be a writer getting thousands of hits on every single work even if I were out here writing popular pairings bc i tend to write fairly short fic without smut, but every time i look at the fic I linked above I get a little like. man that wasn't even the best thing I wrote all year but it is far and away the most popular. so that was a little surprise that I've been mulling over since January 1st lol

Um. I know I haven't finished Good Omens yet. I was distracted by a lots of romance books which I try to be discreet reading about because. Yea. Let's just say I know a bit more about hockey now and oh wow sportsmanship sure can be spicy💀

So, I put aside Good Omens. Impulsively searched up books to read since I was lowkey feeling like I'm about to spiral into a certain genre to read exclusively so before I went too deep, I tried to look for something else. Not too out of my comfort zone (I wasn't too keen in sci-fi, but time-loop hits a bit of a comfort tropes), so I did. And after several minutes of judging the book from it's cover (💀) and reading summaries, i was... Locked into this. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle (or 7 1/2 in UK, I think). It's about a woman being murdered, and some guy (idk who) have to found the murderer. Time loop is involved, since the guy keeps being out into a different person each loop, presumably to know more about the situation.

it seems so intriguing. And only when I read a measly 11 pages I was reminded of a certain other media. Umineko... YEA... YESSS!!! I haven't read enough but the premise is just✨ and I'd like to savor my time reading it, I'm excited!! This is a preloved book I brought online and the scent, the yellowing paper, the slightly crumpled pages it's lowkey endearing like😭??

AHH I don't know what I'm writing. I'm just excited to start. It's a hella thick book and idk if my brains have the capacity to think and absorb everything lol but I don't mind taking my time!!

P.s. I want to read reviews and look through tags but I think I'll do myself a favor and not spoil myself this EARLY. AAAAAHHHHH

Also. The title reminds me of another title of the book, Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo who I know is mad popular because I've heard talks about it. I may or may not be wanting to put it on to read sooner or later

I LIKE IT..... AHHHHH the suspense. the mystery. there's a lot of clues laid out here and there. a backstory. i don't think i'm still anywhere near finishing the introductory phase of what's the story want to tell though.

A person inhabiting Sebastian Bell's body woke up to a woman being chased by a man in coat. This person calls out, 'Anna', and froze a bit before the man in coat shot her. Scared shitless, the man hands him a compass, told him where to go. He arrived at the mansion. Foreign figures, strangers. Daniel Coleridge welcomes him, Doctor Dickie checks on him, and he met one of the son of the house, Michael Hardcastle. A bit about how his family invited people for a party, a lot showed up but talks about them in an annoyed manners. This guy also discovers that his arms, has been slashed, assumed to be acquired in acts of self-defense. Someone is out to chase get him. End.

What I understood.

The guy is not Sebastian Bell. He felt foreign in his body. Memories isn't coming back.

The Hardcastle family is made up of burgoise folks. The Lord of the house moved here because of his failing in politics. I don't remember.

The mansion is located pretty far from crowds and the city. It's surrounded by forests.

Michael Hardcastle is the (youngest) younger Hardcastle? His brother older by two year were murdered when Michael was 5. The perpetrator is two figures, one known and the other unknown until now.

Michael seems like a fun character to read!!! He's easygoing, lively and he was close with Sebastian. Though knowing this story is about murders and all, I can imagine him being killed soon (probably not since that's his sister role!!!) but surely partake in some shady acts.

A guy helped the Hardcastle by avenging? beating up? one of the perpetrator. Ted S-something. He was awarded back then and now he's a snob.

I still don't know who is inside Sebastian's body. The story is told in his POV, but amnesia and all.

I can't make any guesses for now. There's barely anything enough to assume. I feel like even if I do guess stuff I'd feel stupid later on haha
