I do suppose I could share the character design line up!

I really just need to finish designing all the go karts, (atleast most are done!) and then I can make proper cards for them and really get into the written details.

To be honest it’s a little hard to just ramble about info and details without specific questions to go off of, so I’ll try my best hhh

for starters, the tent? Not a tent!

It’s actually a stadium, the amazing digital race!

And rooms? Sort of tweaked, they are more like each character owns a personal garage, a large open space where they store their vehicles and then have a loft above that showcases their cozy safe havens. Bed, entertainment, basically a small room in a much larger one.

I haven’t revealed Ragatha, Zooble or Gangles karts yet but I’ll go ahead and just talk about all of them!

Caine:

Caine has a motorcycle, specifically one inspired off of the motorcycle I’m saving up for this summer, a Kawasaki Eliminator. It’s a cruiser, I’m thinking he has a 600cc model but considering Bubble is his right hand man and operates as the races pit crew- he’s definitely tinkered with Caines bike, making adjustments and improving the engine. God only knows what the little psycho did, but it’s a damn good bike that’s not supposed to rev as loud as it does.

Pomni:

Her kart is inspired off a Volkswagen Beetle, seemed very VERY Pomni to me. Her car mimics her outfit design a lot, I might do some color changes to be honest but it will be super minimal, it’ll be final when the cards are done! She definitely stops at the pit the most often despite her placement in a race, are my tires okay?? Do I need my oil?? I know you just filled it but it went down- is anything damaged?? Sweetie you did one lap..

Jax:

Jesus Christ he has a giant supercharger on the hood of his car, and he is absolutely one of those annoying mfs that reva their engine OBNOXIOUSLY loud all the time like he’s super cool. If you’re wondering who most of the skid marks on the track are from, that’s also Jax. Hes the best as drifting, and he loves to show that off. His car isn’t based too much on an actual vehicle?? I stared at Mario karts and pieced it together, but also gave it a very sports car look, the wing on the back fr fr I think Jax would dig that.

Kinger:

OHHSOSK I was so creative with his little wagon,,, it’s castle shaped!! And the best part? Operates like a rocket. In the back past the battlement (the crown looking thing you see atop castle pillars) ARE GIANT exhaust pipes and yes, they do spit fire !! Operates like a rocket. It’s very cool! (Also he has a great muffler because unlike Jax he’s considerate of others hearing 💔) Oh also, he has one of those silly horns, I forgot how to describe it but you can just look at how I drew it on his kart and you’ll know heheh!

Zooble:

Our second motorcyclist, owns a trike! If you don’t know what that is, picture a bike with training wheels but super badass. 3 wheels! It’s inspired off the Harley Davidson freewheeler, I like that design a lot but it’s def not actually a Harley because istg when you buy those bikes your just paying for the fancy name brand- expect it to be in the shop all the time, smh not good- BUT ANYWAY!! The looks are inspired off it though and I can’t wait for this one because it’s just as crazy kooky as Zoobles design is.

Gangle:

Her kart is based on my favorite car, classic style but not too cool because you can bet she has anime stickers on the back and a decal that says “please let me merge before I start crying.” It’s similar to a karmann ghia convertible, 1963. Cherry red (so so pretty) She always has the top down, unless competing because damn you gotta go fast. That car itself is really slow, top speed normally is 68mph, however people have modified them enough to get up to 120mph. Thats still pretty slow compared to others, but her kart only reflects the appearance of the ghia! It’s much faster and I assume Bubble works on all their vehicles if asked to.

Lastly, Ragatha:

Our 3rd motorcyclist. 4 Karts, 3 cyclists. Her bike is a futuristic style, if you want a good idea then look up “icare bike”! Not so much a straight forward posture, she leans over ofc, you’ll likely get the idea when you see her bike. I’ll be honest, I haven’t gotten too into her design yet because I haven’t started drawing but!! Dark blue leds,, everywhere yes yes so cool ❤️

Sorry that’s so much 😭 but yeah! Just need to finish 3 kart designs for you guys and I can make official ref cards 👀

The dresser is completely covered in makeup, jewelry, magazines, and a scattering of gin and vodka bottles - they all have interesting or pretty shapes so Venetia collects them, and it makes for easy gifts so long as Felix is willing to trawl through a bunch of shops. Farleigh is to blame for the six-litre light-up vodka bottle currently glowing pink at the very edge of the dresser, the one they all made themselves as sick as dogs trying to drain a few years ago.

I kinda rambled a bit?? So, under the cut here

Venetia's room was very much influenced by Alison Oliver's interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygMQn0viPcE) where she describes the room as being full of makeup, jewelry, mags etc (Elspeth's effect shining through here), and very pink and black.

And just the general MESS in Saltburn really heaping up for Venetia's room as an extremely deliberate choice of hers. A sort of control/ownership in it, especially since she's there all year around, and it can be so comforting to have a bedroom as an escape and let it be a complete tip that's just yours, no one else's.

The gin/vodka bottles are inspired by my sister specifically xD She doesn't collect them the same, but the prettier ones do get kept sometimes (and we even had this MASSIVE whiskey bottle (think knee-height) filled with coins never above a 10p in our living room for years that was my granddad's), and it's kinda impressive how elaborate some can go.

SO for Venetia, it's a few things.

The casual alcoholism across the board with the Cattons, the idea of underlying fucked-ness with so many bottles of pretty but cheap, mass-produced glass and the lingering smell of the alcohol inside, a few drops where it wasn't cleaned out properly and maybe some still half-full, reflecting the lights on the dresser and her distorted reflection back at her, lovingly enabled. The half-hidden sentimentality of her keeping the gifted ones on prime display, but mixed in among a whole load of mess so there's too many things to draw your eye. And they're all very cheap in the grand scheme of it all, but these end up being what last for years on a dresser used every single day, compared to priceless gifts tossed in a pile and forgotten.

(hi yes I'm still going??? Oops) Now, the vodka bottle specifically...Again, blame my sister for being super into vodka and flavoured ones until she got really sick on it once and then stopped drinking it xD Also, blame a google search for 'pretty vodka bottles' or something like that, and a light-up one popped up which felt too perfect.

Flashy and objectively cheap but it's 'saw this and thought of you' and 'isn't this silly' and 'let's get sick together for no good reason just to celebrate you and us' and 'here's something for you to look at and think of those memories when it was just the three of us when we're not here but you still are'.

Pretty pink and tacky and a shared mockery but if *any* of those bottles were moved even a centimeter, Venetia would notice. Left at the very edge like she wants it to fall, but would *absolutely* cry if it ever broke.

(Felix is the one who got the sickest on their binge attempt, and would've fallen into the pond if Venetia and Farleigh didn't grab him in time.)

I need to say this, cuz smth embarassing happened to me and now I can't stop imagining Chula in that scenario and literally any turtle.

Because yesterday, I was talking to one of my friends and on one word, I started stuttering SO much. Istg it was SO bad😭

I went "Haha, crazy that you said that cud-cu- don't- I-dont...do-don't.. huh???? Cuz you- don't.. what the fuck were we talking about??"

And now I can't stop this moment in my head and I need to get it out somehow. However, knowing my mind (hopefully) it won't stop anyways but yea, i've been imagining Chula as the poor girly-pop who needs to listen to Leo stutter as if he don't know how to fucking talk. Or she'll laugh, who knows?

She gon go "Oh don't worry bout my kid. He's okay. Or...mildly on drugs... morphine...maybe. Wouldn't know how THAT happened tho. Or he knows how to un-learn the whole shabbing alphabet. Could be it."

Don't mind me. Just a lil' guy that wants to feed myself and others some serotonin with these little shenigans.

Be sure to drink a lot and treat yourself to your favourite snack. And don't forget those blankets for some nice rest this night.

So, your ask got me think of what Leo could be rambling about to cause him to stumble over his words. Which made me think about when I stutter like I don't know English and how it happens most often when I'm overly excited about shows and movies and my brain moves quicker than my mouth.

And THAT made me think about the fact Chula basically lives in the Rise Lair now so, of course, the boys will be showing her all the Lou Jitsu and Jupiter Jim movies. And THAT made me wonder what Chula's relationship with sci-fi would be like.

Because she's LIVED THOSE THINGS, more or less. The 'fiction' in sci-fi is basically all the stuff she had as everyday items and events. But, since the tmnt shows are kind of silly, the silly shows within the shows are pretty ridiculous so Chula is basically watching a horrible interpretation of a rough idea that was a fully developed thing in her dimension.

In short, Chula Verd doesn't like sci-fi because seeing all the completely incorrect interpretations of how space travel and exploration and space wars work is just painful but she knows the boys like it so she just smiles and tells them that it was a great movie.

And then I wrote a dabble about Leo stuttering while they watch a movie! Enjoy!

“Oh, oh, oh! This part is awesome! This is when Jupiter Jim crash lands on the alien turtle planet and he’s gotta fight his way to the super secret base-”

Chula nodded along as Leo explained the scene playing out of the kid's holoprojector.

Since she was staying long term, they had all taken turns catching her up on ‘every modern culture medium she needed to know about’. And at the very top of that list were their favorite holo-drama franchises.

One of which was a series about this space explorer slash adventurer called Jupiter Jim. An absurdly massive franchise that, in Chula’s opinion, was following the worst interplanetary explorer she’d ever seen. It was a wonder he hadn’t started a galaxy-wide diplomatic incident and all the conflicts were usually contained to the planet he visited per film.

But the boys liked Jupiter Jim and she had nothing but time to kill, so she tried to pay attention when they dragged her to the beanbag chairs for a movie night, either as a group or one at a time. And in both circumstances, she would smile and nod and sit through the horrible inaccurate depiction of how space travel works and what the protocols were for making first contact and getting far more enjoyment from listening to Leo break down every scene and how it was made instead of actually watching the film.

Leo gestured to the screen, hands flapping almost too quickly to track as he chattered away, “Oh, the production details of this are really cool! Did you know this was made a decade ago and the effects still hold up better than a lot of the CGI they use now? Yeah, yeah, it’s ‘cause they were tryin’ new stuff, lots of stuff, the director was really trying to push JJ onto the big dogs franchise map with this! They had a whole studio that- that they made the sets in and- and- and the costumes were reva- rev- re- re-, bah, bah, bah- Revolutionary! They handmade every single cell- sale- sail- Fuck!”

Chula blinked when Leo cut himself off, crossing his arms and blowing an angry little raspberry. She waited a few moments for him to keep going, mild disappointment rising when he just made unhappy little grumbles under his breath. 

She glanced back at the holo-drama, fighting the urge to wrinkle her nose at it. She would never, ever tell the boys but…she had found out after the first Jupiter Jim film that she didn’t enjoy ‘science fiction’. Mostly because of the fact that most of the hypothetical ‘fiction’ was very close to things that were pretty standard on most of the planets she’d been to in two realities. But the movies got so many things so ridiculously wrong it was almost painful for her to watch. The only part she enjoyed about the sci-fi movies was how into them the boys would get, flapping their hands and ranting about their favorite part. 

So Leo not talking anymore was quickly sapping her enjoyment of the one-on-one, impromptu movie night. She leaned over to Leo, lightly bumping their shoulders and asking, “What did they handmake?”

“Huh?” Leo blinked, face smoothing out from the pinched, grumpy expression as he looked up at Chula. 

She tipped her head towards the film, where ‘Jim’ was not doing his job as a ‘simple space explorer’ very well, considering he started shooting the moment an alien poked their head into view, “You were saying that this was the holordrama that made the franchise take off, right? And that they handmade somethin’ that helped it do that?”

“Right, right, uhhh, the alien suits,” Leo, much more calmly this time, pointed to where a turtle alien was running across the screen. “The, um, costume department made every scale on the turtle suits by hand. It helped make them look super realistic.”

Chula nodded, waiting for Leo to keep ranting about the film.

Except he seemed to deflate, tucking his knees up and propping his head on them to stare at the screen.

It made Chula a bit sad, seeing all the excitement just poof away. She loved it when Leo got excited about stuff, waved his hands around, and talked a mile a minute. It was weird when he got too quiet, reminded her of the first few weeks of them traveling together when he was scared and lost and didn’t fully trust her yet.

She carefully poked at his side and jerked her chin towards the holo, “What was the secret behind the little sidekick’s tail? I imagine doing all those stunts was hard to pull off without looking fake.”

Leo’s head perked up a bit, eyes flicking up to see the small, red and white furred alien that followed JJ around, “Red Fox? Oh yeah, she’s a yokai! Me and my bro’s met her once, she helped us save Raphie and JJ from getting melted in acid.”

A part of Chula knew that that statement should have set off more alarm bells for her.

But something she’d learned with these crazy kids was that their lives were nuts and it was better to roll with the punches and weird, wildly out of context statments as they came.

So, instead of freaking out, demanding details, running to Raph to ask if he’d gotten any acid on his person during that event, she nodded and turned back to the holoprojector, “What led up to that little misadventure?”

And, like magic, Leo was rambling away again, sitting up to recount the epic tale of when he and his brothers had gone head to head to claim the coveted place as Jupiter Jim’s fake sidekick.

Chula listened, only interrupting to ask questions if Leo stumbled over his words again in his excitement and basking in the warm atmosphere of the room.

She didn’t like sci-fi, but she loved listening to the boys talk about it so she could put up with a couple hundred terrible movies.

Everytime u mention william's intense hatred for vulnerability and constant need for control...man he just like me fr💔 anyway my beloved author i have arrived with a new idea: william and a s/o who's just obsessed with car trips so they'll always insist he takes them for a drive (or even offer to drive themselves when he's too tired for that in case of a bigger trip). They're the kind to piss him off on purpose when they flick the radio to a rock station and turn it up while spazzing the fuck out in the passenger seat as they fix their makeup casually. Also bonus points if they stop in case of an issue and he gets to take a look under the hood bc they think its the most attractive shit ever watching their beast of a boyfriend work on machinery💯💜 insert rihanna's shut up and drive here - will kinnie anon

(me too bestie..me too </3 BUT YEAHHH ROAD TRIP REQUEST! fits well cuz I came back from one like..a month ago or so during my school break.[it was hell btw,got sunburnt on my legs and back </3] and this post will be a bit longer- mostly just me rambling tho )

William actually loves road trips! He kinda just hates he’d have to bring Michael and Liz along but accepts the fact since you seem them as your kids also. (the two have fun btw..they barely got out of the house till you came around-)

William has to buy a whole fucking van for trips since his poor car can barely even hold itself together at this point. Yeah it’s all shiny but trust me that thing has been through things.

The one thing he hates is having to pack everything,plus since we both know Liz has to bring every My Little Pony toy show owns but Michael just packs some clothes,hair brush,toothbrush,ya know..stuff ya actually need!

You have to basically beg him to take at least two weeks off work for road trips,since one time you has suggested Las Vegas and he just stared wide eyed at you. “Luv,i’d love to but taking the kids plus you would cost a lot just for a simple hotel! Vegas is expensive!” - Will,who still took you and the kids.

 That trip to Vegas was probably chaos,but we won’t get into that-

The trip you all went on was to California (which was a 12 hour drive..help Will istg-) As soon as William started driving you turned on the radio,flipping it to one of the rock stations which made Will hissy as hell since he couldn’t even focus on driving.

Tbh,if this was to take place in the 2000′s,he’d fucking LOVE songs from 2016/ect like “Summer”,”Shut up and dance” you know the songs im talking about- (ones i grew up with and fucking love-)

He does let Michael and Liz pick music though,Michael likes playing Green Day and My Chemical Romance and you can fight me on that- Liz prefers Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.

Michael and Liz are the siblings to fight over the smallest things in the backseat- Will always has way to keep them quiet though,as i said this takes place at least during early 2000′s so he just makes the two watch a movie they both like on the Liz’z tablet.

i mean, we know nols is more on the reserved/less social side (it’s the reason so many of us have already discussed the whole ‘nolpat having a soft spot for you/going soft for you’ idea lol), so i feel like your relationship would be based on a genuine connection and very strong love for each other as human beings—once y’all meet, you both know it’s pretty much endgame right away.

anyway, i just see him being so wrapped up in you and the idea of you having his children drives him insane, because it’s everything he’s ever wanted since he first laid eyes on you. like, he’s been thinking about it forever but he didn’t wanna scare you off by talking about kids early on in your relationship, so he keeps to himself. but then on his birthday, you surprise him with a small party (just his close friends and a couple guys on team are invited, because you know how he is with crowds and you wanna make sure he can actually enjoy the day) and a short weekend-trip home to visit his family in winnipeg, and all nolan can see all night is you.

after everyone leaves, he’s starts making sweet love to you and telling you how much he literally adores you and your soul, and as he’s trailing his lips down your torso he stops, closing his eyes and pressing his forehead to your stomach while mumbling something like “oh my god i can’t wait to put a baby in you” but like all exasperated, and you’re just like “what?” and this poor boy gets nervous that you oppose so he just starts rambling like “shit, wait, i didn’t mean right now, i just—god, i love you so much, and i never want to be without you again. i can’t wait ‘till the day i can finally put a baby in you, and watch you grow a perfect mix of us in right here” as he puts his hand on your stomach so gently, and before you can even say anything he’s starting again like, “getting to call you my wife one day sounds like a dream, but you what really gets me? thinking about calling you the mother of my children. y/n, i’m beyond in love with everything you are, and i just know that you’re the one i want to spend the rest of my life with. i want to make a family out of this—out of us—and spend eternity loving on you and our beautiful babies.”

and by the time he’s done, he’s got tears in his eyes, and you just grab his face and smash your lips together because you realize that you feel exactly the same way and when he pulls away you just go “then do it, put a baby in me nols” and istg his eyes almost pop right outta his goddamn head and you just stare into them with the biggest grin plastered across your face “fill me up, baby—gimme everything you’ve got.”

like kabsiwjw—this man straight up combusts inside and he rips the condom off so fast before showing you just how much he wants to do exactly that. and the vibe never changes either, like he’s still gentle with you and everything, but now his thrusts are needy and laced with hunger.

by the end of the night he’s filled you to the fucking brim, and just stays there watching you, sprawled out on his sheets, in awe.

and oh my god, at one point while you’re lying there you jokingly go “nolan! hurry, i think we’re losing some!” and he looks so confused before realizing what you mean, and you just lose it because he seems to genuinely panic when he notices and is like, rushing to push it back in but he looks so proud of himself for saving it and is like “wait, why are you laughing :(” ✋🏼😭
