#I get Kishimoto probably didn’t think that far ahead in the series because so much of their dynamic is explained later

I don’t understand why Kishimoto never added Kakashi having thoughts about Gai when he died in the pain assault. It’s like he doesn’t want his relationship with Gai to have depth but then adds all these interactions and feelings that show how much he means to Kakashi.
He thinks of his dead friends and family, he thinks of Konoha 11, but he doesn’t think about his longest and biggest support? Not even a passing thought?
Might Gai is Kakashi’s best friend and rival, he isn’t a nuisance to him and he doesn’t think he’s less than him. Their relationship has substance and evidence to show how much they care about one another, im sick of Kishimoto and his constant need to diminish it then prop it up and then diminish it again. How can he be so inconsistent with relationships and character writing??

I heard there were rumors about Naruto being developed into seinen after Shippuden. Wouldn't that have been wonderful? I think it was such a wasted opportunity for another amazing experience. We wouldn't have any child marriages, or that recycled bs Boruto. And a challenge for Kishimoto. Although I am not sure about that last one, he kind of lost the plot towards the end there.
But even so, what a wasted opportunity.
What's your take? What could have been the implications of that?
Am just going to take this ask as an heartful rant!!!!!! 😊😊😊😊
Just because of this ask, I decided to dig deeper into his past interviews and found things that even confirmed my opinions even stronger.
Damn you!!!! Kishimoto!!!!
Thanks to you @sneezemonster15 🤩🤩🤩. LOL. Because When your speculation becomes true, you will experience some satisfaction which is immeasurable.
[[Anything I am going to cite from an old interview, after this line of the post is something I got to knew only today. Which means I never knew about these interviews before. Probably SNS shippers knew about these long back but to me it’s a new thing.]]
I heard there were rumors about Naruto being developed into seinen after Shippuden. Wouldn't that have been wonderful?
I never heard of such development and even if they do, they already did a lot of damage in the name of Boruto. And I don't think they can tell anymore story after Shippuden in a convincing way.
For me, Shippuden is in and of itself looks like a big seinen based Manga because I believe there were certain themes which were told in part 2 that are simply not suitable for a 12 year old to comprehend. Even I was overwhelmed by such plots because it really questioned my world view.
I mean, what can a 12 year old understand about Hatred or World peace which Nagato planned to implement or Itachi's pain? Yeah, there may be very few who could understand but majority don’t and hence we could see some part of fandom who still thinks ‘Sasuke should have left alone and made to start a new Village as a Revolution, or he should’ve destroyed Konoha to dust’. Any mature audience who consumed various media and have a broad world view would never spout such nonsense. Because the real world wouldn't work that way.
he kind of lost the plot towards the end there.
He didn’t actually. I believe he was made to create that Kaguya plot as a thread to continue Borutoverse. It may not be his idea. I am just speculating. Because Kishi is a damn genius in dropping threads much earlier in the story.
Example, Uchiha Madara.
When Sasuke and Naruto battled in VoTE1, I was wondering about the statues as to who might they be?. Then Kakashi slightly hinted us that the statues represents the men who created Konoha, but they were fighting until the very end for some reason. Similar to how Naruto and Sasuke fought there. And when Madara’s name was dropped for the first time when Sasuke suppressed Kurama, it just got only better.
So, I think Kaguya was a plot which was created right when Naruto was decided to pair up with Hinata and have a baby who will lead the Next Generation. When the series was going on and on about Sharingan, all of a sudden it took a U-Turn towards Byakugan. I was like, ‘Who the fuck cares about Byakugan anyway?’
Then it all made sense after looking at the abomination called ‘Boruto’, where all the Aliens were seen having Byakugan. So, It feels like he lost the plot. But I really think he was forced to.
So far, whatever I wrote till now was my observation.
That Damn Kishimoto gave an interview long back which proved my hunch right.
Tumblr media
So, You see, he was never interested in a sequel series to happen. He was just forced to.
Do you know what was the real ending he aimed for?
In many of my posts, I wrote about how SNS was a carefully constructed bond which Kishimoto paid a lot of attention to. I mean, there’s no way we can call the chapter 698 as a Retconned one. Every clues and hints were already there.
It seems that the bastard confessed about this 15 years ago, in 2006 Shonen Jump Interview and again in 2015 NYCC comic con.
He didn’t talk about Ships and shits in any of these interviews. He already planned the ending long back when he finished Part 1. The ending with Naruto and Sasuke doing Reconciliation Seal with Hashirama and Madara statues by visualizing everything into details and that too in freaking 2006.
[[Click the picture to see the full view]]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reconciliation of Naruto and Sasuke was something Kishi planned long back after finishing part 1. He even visualized all the panels in detail and that's the ending he was striving towards.
It seems, he never planned about pairings and stuffs ahead as many shippers would like to claim. I am not saying he planned SNS as the endgame couple either. But I honestly think, Kishi wished for an ending similar to Chapter 699. Like without any pairing trash, finishing off with Naruto and Sasuke sharing their dreams and hopes together.
And this is what I’ve been screaming in all my posts... That I speculate, I guess, I believe and so many similar words... that Kishi always wanted to finish with Chapter 699 and Chapter 700 feels like an afterthought.
But anyways, with Studio persuaded him into pair up his Main Characters, he was asked to write Boruto Script for one last time and it seems, that’s the only movie where he wrote the entire screenplay from A to Z. He said that Boruto movie is the ‘Pinnacle of his career’. Does it mean, ‘The Last’ movie was not his pinnacle, eh???
And what do I always scream about Boruto series in every posts?
That I feel like Naruto and Sasuke seems to Babysit Boruto like a parent.
And that’s what he wanted to finish as the last chapter of Naruto.
Tumblr media
I mean throughout the movie, there were no trace of Hinata and Sakura playing any major role in their Child’s life, instead Sasuke is seen talking fondly about Naruto to his Son, I mean Naruto’s Son. So, If he envision drawing 2 guys taking care of a child as the last chapter, then what was he trying to say?
This Kishimoto is just too sinister!!!
And it seems, he dissed ‘The Last’ movie subtly in his own words. Like almost he claims he had no part in that movie. Well, I always had my doubt regarding that movie. Never expected Kishi would say this.
Couple of days ago, I made a post about, how Kishi never gave 2 fucks about Sakura from the beginning. I analyzed that post based on my observation by carefully reading through panels in the initial chapters and his motivations to draw the panel in a certain way. That gave me an idea of what Kishi’s style of designing a character. I never knew about this Interview thing, when I wrote that post.
It seems, in an Interview, he pretty much confirmed my view about him.
Tumblr media
Kishi’s assistant was posed with a question, ‘How every character, no matter how bad they are, gets redeemed in some way?’
To which he answered, ‘Before even making a first appearance, Kishi will lay out how he wants the character to be, what it’s personality traits are, what was it about to do.’
So, Kishi really never planned to make Sakura redeemable. Her fate was sealed when she unveiled her grand dream in chapter 4 before her teammates.
What I would like to conclude is,
Kishi developing anything after Shippuden will not have his full heart. So, that development based on Seinen may not be true.
Kishi planned Chapter 698 long back when he completed Part 1. He even visualized every panels about how it is going to be. So, probably Chapter 699 is where Kishi intended to end the series. Hence, the abomination you were made to see in Boruto is not his idea.
He never planned about pairings unless he was asked to. Hinata was the popular one and he just went with it. It’s not like he always intended for Naruto to end up with Hinata.
Tumblr media
When he was asked to write a story about Boruto, he envisioned Boruto movie as the final chapter of Naruto series, if only he had the opportunity to draw this as a manga. In this movie, Naruto became an Hokage, Sasuke is a Shadow Hokage, Naruto’s son was adopted by Sasuke. Hinata and Sakura were the bench warmers.
It seems to me that Kishi somehow wants to place Naruto and Sasuke as the face of this series towards the end. He knew that he can't make them as an official couple and when things didn't go as he planned he made them into an unofficial couple who takes cares of a boy with all the care.
Geez!!! I wish I were wrong😏😏😏😏. But all these interviews proves that I was right about many things without even realizing it was there.

Umm, I just wanted your opinion on an yt video about sasuke called “the conflict and compromise of uchiha sasuke” by crafswarf
youtube
Here’s the video if anyone is interested. I’m just going to watch it and make notes as I go.
“cutting off bonds but can’t seem to ignore Naruto” - I feel Sasuke would have had no problem ignoring Naruto if Naruto wasn’t constantly chasing after him. There is no indication in the series that Sasuke would have sought out Naruto of his own volition.
“Sasuke was so far gone he was impossible to root for” - and yet here I am, though the creator does qualify that that is how Kishimoto wants us to see him which is correct. Maybe I’m just getting ahead, let’s find out.
Viewing Sasuke through the lens of Karin??? I have a hard time taking that seriously because Karin is mostly a gag character and Kishimoto doesn’t take her seriously.
“if there were one character who would accept Sasuke no matter what it would be her” - not to get ahead of what I’m going to cover later on the blog, but that was Itachi’s whole character arc so, disrespect.
“Sasuke at his most likable” - Listen, I’ll be honest with y’all...my favorite Sasuke is kage summit through reconnecting with Itachi era Sasuke. So I’m not in the headspace to call early Sasuke the most likable Sasuke. But that’s just me. My favorite FMA character is Kimblee so that’s my taste is characters.
I have already made a lot of the points being stated so not to concerned about mentioning them.
I don’t think Sasuke is even remotely “behind” Naruto is terms of training or strength. Sasuke sees it that way, but it’s not that Naruto is better, Naruto is just progressing very rapidly and has the fox that is assisting in that.
Girl, not that clip of Naruto using rasengan on Kabuto to emphasize Naruto getting stronger and Sasuke wasn’t progressing because he couldn’t beat Itachi. Kabuto sucks it’s not very impressive to beat him and Itachi would wreck Kabuto and Naruto (but not really Naruto because he’s the main character has the fox, the cheater 😂)
I think it’s a mistake to not also touch on the fact that no one in the village was supporting just the fact that Sasuke wanted revenge. Especially the point where Kakashi straight up tells him to give it up.
“Naruto’s only forcing his will onto Sasuke thoughtlessly, giving him no option. Sasuke will be taken back to the Lead and that’s final. Through his lack of understanding and his desire to avoid pain, Naruto is being just as selfish as Sasuke was in starting his new path” - 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 Okay but this is T
He said genocide so points for that as well.
“Itachi’s planned path might have led Sasuke back to the Leaf village a hero, one who could potentially make the shinobi world a better place” “refusing Itachi’s path for him and refusing to compromise”
Tumblr media
Fully lost me with that one. Sasuke does not owe anyone compromise. The onus should not be on Sasuke to go to the Leaf and work out how to fix shit. It’s the Leaf that killed everyone Sasuke knew and loved. It is their duty to recognize their wrong and atone for what they did. But they won’t so I say burn it to the ground.
The idea that Sasuke goes against Itachi because Itachi “got one over” on him by making Sasuke fight him to the death and he’s mad he never surpassed Itachi so he contradicts what Itachi wants is ludicrous. - I’ve covered it a little and I will cover it more. Sasuke hero worshiped Itachi even when he hated him. He’s not contradicting Itachi out of pride, he’s doing it out of love for Itachi. Because like Itachi’s love for Sasuke was stronger than the village, so is Sasuke’s love for Itachi.
That Sasuke’s doing this to “surpass” Itachi fully got me out of it. I’ll try to keep paying attention.
No one is allowed to talk about Sasuke’s exchange with Kakashi and Sakura unless they bring up That Panel. (I don’t even know if it’s in the anime tbh, which is further proof that That Panel was an accident or Kishimoto’s intern sneaked in and made it good). I don’t want to talk too much about That Panel now though I’m saving it.
Fun fact that might have been changed by the anime so take it with a grain of salt: Hinata didn’t die during Pains attack.
I have a big problem with Sasuke’s character being so heavily tied to Naruto, and this is something I want to cover when I’m talking about shippuden so I’m just going to say straight out I don’t like it and move on. I’ll talk more about it on the blog.
The end of Naruto is such a mess I don’t even want to think about it until I have to so I’m just not going to say anything for now.
That Karin thing really was dropped, huh? For the best. Wow, I’m rereading through my initial notes and this video sure forgot to tie up some of those strings left dangling earlier in the video.
So, overall I probably only agreed with like two things? I think the ending really failed in that, much like the Naruto series itself, it dropped the genocide thing to tie everything up in a neat little package and didn’t address the fact that a serious wrong occurred and 1. no one acknowledged the wrong or 2. attempted to give retribution for the wrong.
I think this video has a premises of Naruto as a series being good or at least adequate which I disagree with on principle. Once again this blog probably isn’t even halfway done so there will be plenty of time for me to talk more about my myriad of feelings.

What do you think about Boruto? As a character I mean.
Heyo! Ah, yes, the true question anyone who watches Boruto must answer at some point in their time with the series. You know, anon, I’ve been grappling with this one. I’ve seen so many opinions about Boruto as a character, most of them negative, some indifferent, some positive, and I’ve had to take some time of my own to really grapple with my own opinions about Boruto. Honestly, though, yes, I do like him. Now, anyway. When I first got into the series, I didn’t like him at all. Even now, he isn’t perfect. He still acts like an entitled, spoiled, selfish, inconsiderate, bratty kid. For me, that was a major put off for his character when I first started the series. However, having had some time to think about it and having watched every episode at least three times and having read the manga through a couple of times- which is an entirely different arena than the anime is- I do honestly like Boruto as a character. And please allow me to explain that further so that it may make sense to you and buckle up cause it’s gonna be a long one:
Yes, Boruto is selfish and entitled and self-centered and bratty. That’s how he’s been established since Kishimoto-sensei put out chapter 700 and it’s sort of what I come to expect of his character in many different situations- it almost has a comedic nature to it. But, I think it’s important to understand that he feels- or at least felt before everything went down with the Otsutsuki during the Chunin Exams- neglected and ignored by Naruto. He got to spend a lot of time with Naruto before he became Hokage and by the look of it they were actually very close before Naruto became Hokage. Unlike Sarada, for instance, he remembers all of the time he got to spend with his dad. And then to suddenly have all of that time and attention taken away because Naruto now holds the most important position in the Village probably didn’t make sense to Boruto, considering how young he was when Naruto became Hokage. Then add to that the fact that no one, Naruto especially, ever properly explained to Boruto why it was important for Naruto to work as much as he does and spend so much time and effort into maintaining the peace and stability of the Village and even the Shinobi world as a whole. And I will say that I personally think they didn’t learn enough about it in the Academy or that it wasn’t taught to them properly. Everything they ever said to him just sounded like excuses for Naruto’s absence and never provided the appropriate clarity that Boruto needed to fully grasp the weight of Naruto’s responsibilities. He needed to understand that Naruto wasn’t putting everyone else above his family, his wife, his kids, but that he was doing everything he could for them and everyone in the Village. He needed to understand why Naruto considered everyone in the Village his family and why those connections were so important to him and certainly why they are important for Boruto to learn for himself. He needed to understand Naruto better and Naruto himself didn’t recognize that in his son and make efforts to talk to him as his father about those things. Boruto really needed to learn about his dad to understand him and why being Hokage is so important for Naruto. We as fans of Naruto know the sacrifices he had to make to get where he is today. We understand the pain Naruto went through, the growth Naruto had to go through, the loss he endured, all of the sacrifices he had to make, the dedication he had for his dream, and the work he put into achieving it. Boruto didn’t and that isn’t his fault. (As a side note, this is a widely used literary techniques wherein the audience knows something that the characters don’t, which helps to push along the plot and provide a satisfactory resolution to the readers when things come full circle- when done properly, at least- and the characters learn what the readers already know, so I understand why they did the story as they did, even though it frustrated me to no end before I realized that’s what they were doing.) Now, does that excuse Boruto’s behavior? No. But take into consideration that Boruto is still a young boy who grew up feeling distant and neglected by his father, whom he needed by his side growing up, and plenty of kids like him react in the same way and lash out, get into trouble, and do whatever they know will work to get their parents’ attention. It happens in real life all the time and I’m honestly glad that they are portraying it because young kids read these types of Manga and identify with characters like Boruto for their experiences and I can see this situation helping plenty of kids deal with similar issues that they are experiencing. We can sit around and gripe about Boruto being so bratty and obnoxious all we want, but if we don’t try to understand why Boruto acts the way he does, then we won’t appreciate his growth when it does happen. And he still has a lot of growth to go through and certainly a lot of maturing to do. Thinking about that, it’s definitely glaringly obvious how immature Boruto still is when you compare him to, say, Mitsuki and Sarada who are leagues ahead of him in the maturity department. But, for me, that’s going to be one of the most enjoyable things to see in the series: how Boruto went from being so bratty, to being a mature young man with a good head on his shoulders. It happened with Naruto and it’ll happen with Boruto, guaranteed. And on that note, it is happening with Boruto, even now. Boruto has matured slightly, has learned a lot about Naruto, the role of the Hokage, and at the very least now has a dream of his own to work towards. As a quick example, think about this: early on in the series, Boruto didn’t care about Shinobi, being a Chunin, or even particularly care to be a Genin, despite inspiring so many of his friends to appreciate those positions and that status. Jump over to the time skip at the beginning of the series and Boruto is proud to represent himself as a Shinobi and wears Sasuke’s headband with pride. He obviously goes through a considerable amount of growth to get there from where he was early on in the series and even where he is now. Right now, he’s still very head-strung, stubborn, and selfish, but he has definitely learned the importance of being a Shinobi- even if he doesn’t quite understand what that means for himself as a person, and yes, I do think he doesn’t quite understand that, yet. He has shown more respect for his father recently, has learned the importance of working on a team, and he does go above and beyond for his friends, even putting himself in danger and risking his future to do so. He still has a long way to go before he actually grows up, but he’s one of those characters with immense potential for development that’ll leave people speechless- it’s kinda one of those “started from the bottom, now we’re here” type things. And that’s honestly why I do like Boruto as a character. His potential is fascinating to me and I know he’s gonna go far. Plus, as much as people like to say it isn’t, I think Boruto is completely separate from Naruto as a series and the experiences these characters are going through- although they are paralleled to Naruto’s characters- are different because it is a whole new set of emotions behind it. Maybe that’s just me, but that’s what makes me see Boruto as he is and like him for who he is and to like the series for what it is. It’s not perfect, but I’m definitely here for all of the potential.
As a last note, I will add that I like Boruto’s character because he is smart, funny, compassionate (at times), adorable, and, honestly, very innocent. He’s also an amazing brother to Himawari, considerate of Hinata, and a dedicated student of Sasuke’s. Also, the day he actually gets to read Jiraiya’s books is going to be a great day for everyone.
Thank you for the ask! It is much appreciated!

Sarada’s Sharingan | Boruto Theory
heres a theory about Sarada, cuz duh mate, i idolize her. shes a cute tsun-tsun, and has much potential. sorry if theres like spelling mistakes, not grammar. i may use grammar in some sentences, some not. please like if you enjoyed~
Most of this is from Quora, paraphrased and applied to this theory subject. This covers her cannon MS design, what triggers her MS, and evolution.
PS: THIS WILL COVER A LOT WITH SASUKE AND ITACHI, DON’T GET MAD PLS BC OF HOW MUCH INFO IM SAYING ABOUT EM
PS 2.0: THIS WILL COVER THINGS ABOUT SAKURA AND uhh DEATH DON’T GET OFFENDED I LUV HER 2 BUT
Now, now. Here’s just basically random things about Sarada’s sharingan. Let’s start with... What is the Sharingan?
Sharingan is developed when an Uchiha member experiences a powerful emotion (about a person close to them). During this emotional moment the brain releases a special form of chakra that affects the optic nerves and transforms the eye into the Sharingan.
(Credits to Hemanth Mothkuri on Quora!~)
Evolution
So. Her evolution of the Sharingan. From now, (ep 90) we still only had one tomoe. She should atleast have two, in my opinion. Too bad, though. Sasuke Uchiha, awakened double tomoe when he was fighting Haku. Would they be able to unlock their second tomoe when under stress, and saving someone they are really close to? Haku appeared episode nine from the original Naruto series, which is really fast for Sasuke to get double-tomoe. But then again, Sasuke unlocked his sharingan in a very young age. He unlocked second tomoe in his right eye first. Example:
Tumblr media
It is unclear when we see his left eye unlock it, but just know that it’s one eye first after another.
So basically, here’s a list when we see his Sharingan unlock.
One tomoe:
He unlocked during the Uchiha massacre.
Double tomoe:
On the Great Naruto Bridge, part I of Haku and Zabuza.
Three tomoe:
Fighting Naruto at the Final Valley of the End.
I’ve been noticing a pattern, here. You first unlock the Sharingan when experiencing a great and intense emotion. For Sarada, it was seeing her dad for the first time. The double tomoe, you unlock protecting someone close to you, or INTENSE training. Triple tomoe, you unlock fighting the person who was close to you.
Let’s compare this to Itachi.  When Team 2 was given the task of guarding the Fire Daimyō, the company was attacked by Obito. Tenma attacked Obito and was killed in the fight. This emotional moment caused Itachi to awaken his Sharingan. Credit to Henmath Mouthkiri on Quora. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was on episode 453: The Pain of Living. It can also be retrieved in itachi Shinden: Book of Bright Light.  I’m not too sure on him getting his second tomoe, and third tomoe. But, we do know how he got his Mangekyo Sharingan. Probably, just witnessing Shisui's death to protect the village was traumatic enough for Itachi to awaken his Mangekyou. Itachi, the only person I know so far to manifest two tomoe in one go, was a deep thinker. The death of his teammates and his will to do something about it though his friends were already dead made him desperate. But his will against the desperation held on due to his inquisitive nature (by which he kept himself inside the desparation long enough to generate enough of the unique chakra) and he managed to unlock enough power for the two tomoe sharingan. It can be that this is how an Uchiha is able to contain and harness the power of the Sharingan. Credit to JNat on Animestackexhange :) Credit to Tehol Beddict on Quora, too!
All in all, Sarada will get double tomoe, soon. But don’t get your hopes high in case that doesn’t happen in the few next episodes.
Mangekyou Sharingan
How will Sarada Uchiha retrieve the Mangekyou Sharingan? It’s like experiencing unlocking the Sharingan but the trauma is 10x more. Sasuke unlocked Mangekyo Sharingan by witnessing Itachi’s death. Even though he didn’t murder him, Itachi died of tuberculosis or lung cancer. Same with Itachi, he witnessed Shisui’s suicide. Itachi was a deep thinker, so no wonder he’d get his double-tomoe in one go, and Mangekyou Sharingan. Itachi lost everyone, and so did Sasuke. Sasuke couldn’t get Mangekyou because of how young he was, and he would have that much chakra prepared for the doujutsu. Many theorists believe that Sarada will fight Boruto, I don’t think so. They don’t have a rivalry like Sasuke and Naruto. They have a protection relationship, and which is “I want to get stronger for I can protect you.” Either Sasuke or Sakura will die for Sarada, to get her MS. Naruto is out of the question, since he will be training Kawaki, he won’t be Sarada’s mentor. Please note, not every Uchiha needs to experience death, I want to see somethign creative and peaceful for Sarada to push aside all the hatred, but hey! This is just a theory. :) And, she’d just awaken it by strong feelings, like Obito. He didn’t lose anyone, but just his emotions.
Sasuke
First of all.. look at Boruto.
Tumblr media
Besides the fact that Boruto is fine ;) look at everything. Now, this is one of the most obvious theories.. but look.
Boruto has the following from his master, Sasuke..
Kusanagi
Cloak
Headband
Now, it would be reasonable if Sasuke gave Boruto his headband. Like in the Momoshiki Arc, I can see that. But his weapon? His cape? Hmm? Be reasonable, look. The sword he has had since a teen? His cloak that hides his arms, and his headband is ok. I personally, don’t think Sasuke will die. Kishi will lose about 80% of the fanbase if Sasuke dies. (i’d stay tho :) ). In my opinion, the flashforward is bait. I have some pictures on what Kishi has drewn himself for promotional pictures of Sarada grown up. She has an MS, if you were wondering. ;)
I couldn’t find much and think about the rest, but Sakura has a big way up ahead.
Sakura
Tumblr media
Most definitely. She will die in my opinion, for Sarada to move on. It’s not because I hate her, but this is one reason on how I imagine Sarada getting her Sharingan upgraded. Why, though?
Sakura is irrelevent in Boruto now. She isn’t a main character anymore, she doesn’t play a role.
We all know Sarada and Sakura’s relationship. Sakura even raised her by herself. Sakura is a amazing opportunity. Also, her death will not only be amazing for Sarada’s development.. but her relationship with Sasuke, too. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see Sarada start falling in the Curse of Hatred by that and Sasuke stepping in to help her not commit all the sins and mistakes he did? Or, what about Sarada accusing him o fhis own wife’s death and not being sad, or feel any emotion for it? Massive chances are at stake here by this single event, which is by a character we don’t use anymore. As much as I love Sakura, and would most likely cry to see her die, this is an amazing opportunity. I know, you’re sad too. Kishi claimed that in Boruto, no older gen characters are safe from death. He also claimed it will get a LOT darker, and may be no happy ending. Let’s continue on.
Finally, because of the cause of Sakura’s death, we could actually see her fighting again, some spotlight on her. She hasn’t gotten some lately, besides Sasori and Shin. She was used as a chakra batter for Obito, getting a single hit in Kaguya or bursting some Juubi fodder won’t count, let’s try to see something special for her, and only her. She had a big fighting will in part one, but now she’s just a housewife.
Overall, I see Sakura with the biggest potential of  her death. Sasuke is too important to die like that yet, but someone needs a boost for Sarada for her sweet, sweet, lovely, Uchiha porwerup. There are too many doors open for her death. There’s no risk involved, also.

Now, let’s see some pictures.
Kishimoto hints
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sasuke will take the ‘Jiraiya’ role, in that case, he’s too important to kill of like I’ve stated before.
However, while Jiraiya died around two thirds into the story, I simply can’t see Sasuke getting rid of, at least not that early. And its important to note here that if this were to happen, it would HAVE to happen somewhere relatively early, though we’ll get to that soon enough.
The fact is that he’s just too strong. A threat able to defeat someone of his level would be well beyond the main characters’ abilities as things are now and anywhere in the nearby future as a matter of fact. Furthermore if he were to be killed, that would cause all hell to break loose way too early. The logical next step after all is for Naruto himself to step in, as he’s the only one strong enough to take on someone at that level.
But then what? Have Naruto killed by the same threat? No…it does build this threat up a lot, but its basically the same thing twice. What about having Naruto defeat the threat? Again, no, that doesn’t work. It would make Sasuke’s death seem pointless and drive away attention from the new generation.
The point I’m getting at is that Sasuke’s death at any early point in the story would just be playing one’s cards too soon, especially at the sole benefit of Sarada. It leaves little leeway for the plot to move on and more so complicates things than builds them up.
All of this was retrieved from Ian Schumann on Quora, that’s why you see block-quotes around. Sasuke is too important to kill off.
Blindness
Now, if Sarada got MS, would she get blind? Well, Sarada has glasses, which can somewhat help her but I doubt it. Sasuke could either take her to where he kept his eyes. To swap them out, but she’d need MS that time. (Also supports how Sakura’s part would come in play). This is a short concept, because not much evidence will be supported but, will edit when I think of a good theory!~

THE GREAT CRUNCHYROLL NARUTO REWATCH Crashes the Chunin Exams in Episodes 64-70!
Come and come all to THE GREAT CRUNCHYROLL NARUTO REWATCH! I'm Nicole Mejias, and I'll be your host this week as we make our way through all 220 episodes of the original Naruto. Last week, we covered episodes 57-63, and we continue this week with episodes 64-70.
So the Chunin exam finally comes to a close in an explosive way, as Sasuke and Gaara face off! This was quite the rollercoaster batch of episodes, with the debut of Sasuke's Chidori attack, the hints about Sasuke's true abilities to power up, Gaara's real strength, and then... the exam ends with the attack of Sand on Leaf. It seems like Orochimaru felt Gaara going out of control was the perfect time to hatch his plan, and now everything is in chaos. As we finish up for this batch, we start getting some truly confusing resurrection powers utilized to give us 2 on 1 Hokage fighting action! Seems like things are only going to heat up after this week's batch!
Alright, let's get the ball rolling and on to what the Crunchyroll Features team thought of this week's episodes!
This week's episode sees the Chunin exam come to a somewhat unsatisfying ending as the true plan of the Sand Village unfolds. I remember my first time around that I wanted to see the exam actually complete, but how do you all feel about this sudden interruption?
Joseph: I didn’t mind it at all, it made the story less predictable and kept the pace up rather than transitioning into your usual post-tournament downtime. I really enjoyed the tournament but I can’t say I care who would have won.
Carolyn: I have to agree, I thought it was nice to see a bigger world/threat/issue than just the controlled, one-on-one fights.
Danni: I love a good tournament arc, so it’s a bit of a shame this one only lasted a few matches. That being said, the new developments are pretty cool. I’m looking forward to where it goes from here if a war does indeed break out.
Kevin: It makes for a bit more dramatic turn, since on first viewing it seems like we’re about to go into another short tournament to finish the arc, but then a war starts. In terms of personal feelings, I could go either way. I appreciate the story not following the exact beats that the audience expects, but I also like tournaments, so wanted to see how the fights progressed.
David: Stopping powerlevel defining tournaments early isn’t exactly new—looking at you, Saint Seiya—but in this case the seeds for the attack have been sown as early as the forest arc, so it’s hard to complain. If anything it would be disappointing if nothing had come of that.
Paul: I welcome the swerve. Sure, in part it feels like Kishimoto got bored with the whole tournament fighting arc, but I love the idea that there's a huge, precarious world out there filled with fragile alliances and ninja skullduggery of which the main characters, in their youthful innocence, are only experiencing a tiny taste.
Kara: I don’t think I’d call this ending unsatisfying, really. I mean, everyone got slapped in the face before the Round 3 preliminaries with the fact that the exams are largely politically motivated, and we’ve known the Sand Village was up to something the whole time. I feel like finishing everything out by the book and handing out Chunin diplomas or whatever would be more disappointing after all that setup.
Noelle: Tournament arcs are such a staple that they almost feel expected for the genre—so anything that tosses it up is something that I’d welcome. 1v1 fights are fun, but after a while, I think I’d lose the patience to sit through the whole thing.
Jared: I think this was fine the tournament during the opening round. It’s certainly something that doesn’t blindside you as it’s abundantly clear something’s going to happen, but it’s a neat way to play with your expectations.
Sasuke is back the spotlight this week during his face off against Gaara, and wow, it’s definitely quite the impressive fight! What are your thoughts on Sasuke vs Gaara after all the build up for Gaara and Naruto?
Joseph: I love how unhinged Gaara is, especially after we learned more about him during his backstory last week. It’s kind of dull that Gaara essentially turtles on defense the entire time, but I like the moment where it hints once again at his monstrous transformation. Even though I said I didn’t need to see the tournament fully play out, I would have liked to have seen where this fight went if it were allowed to continue.
Carolyn: I just felt so bad for Rock Lee the whole time. Those were his moves! But Gaara freaking out and losing his mind over a little blood is part of why I liked him so much on first watch. He’s almost uncomfortably weird.
Danni: I dunno, I thought it was pretty underwhelming. It seemed more like a teaser for an approaching REAL battle between them than anything.
Kevin: Sasuke versus Gaara is one of the fights that I remember most from when I watched the show as a kid. Sasuke pulling out new techniques, showing how much more powerful he’s become, all of it stuck in my head. Watching it again… it’s not as good as I thought. They renamed Raikiri to Chidori for no real reason, and Sasuke managed to reach Lee levels of Taijutsu in a month (and also offscreen), when Lee himself is supposed to be a genius at martial arts, and it took him years to get that far.
Nate: They actually get into this—the Raikiri (Lightning Blade) is Kakashi's version of the original technique, Chidori (Thousand Birds).
David: As others mentioned, this is the first real example of classic shonen action powercreep; Gai and Kakashi point out in no uncertain terms that Sasuke has matched Rock Lee’s physical prowess within a month, and Rock himself even admits this. There’s also only one good bit of animation before the whole thing goes wrong. Overall it’s important but kind of disappointing even if you’re a Sasuke fan.
Paul: I don't currently have any opinions on Sasuke vs. Gaara, since that fight it still on-going, but I do wonder where exactly the story is going with that bit about Gaara momentarily transforming into the Tetsuo-blob from the end of Akira.
Kara: This was my semi-regular reminder that Gaara is a walking horror movie. Gotta agree with Carolyn, I feel sorry for Rock Lee watching Sasuke out there using his moves. Nothing against ludicrous power-ups. Just Sasuke taking a level in awesome, while awesome, feels kind of sour when viewed through the lens of Lee’s story. I’m starting to understand why Naruto is so cranky about Sasuke in his periphery constantly.
Noelle: Sasuke was always going to get his power-up, that was inevitable, but it feels kind of… eh. Probably because we didn’t really see Sasuke work to get these power-ups much, so it doesn’t really feel earned that he’d suddenly become more powerful, especially enough to copy Lee. Sure, Sasuke’s the co-protagonist of the series, but it doesn’t feel as much of a thrilling fight from his end. Gaara is now full-blown horror and I love it.
Jared: It was kind of weird since they build this up to be Sasuke being the returning hero to vanquish Gaara, but since he’s been out of the picture since his fightin the prelims, the real build had been more Naruto/Gaara. Probably doesn’t help that there’s no real conclusion here. Sasuke certainly gets his moments of showing he’s truly back and more formidable than ever and Gaara looks even more unhinged, but it certainly didn’t have the same feel that a Naruto/Gaara match would have had.
This is the first time we see the Chidori in action, showing off how much Sasuke really does seem to be ahead of Naruto in terms of skill. How’d you all feel seeing this signature attack for the first time?
Joseph: They do a good job of making it clear how powerful Sasuke has come in such a short period of time. I dig that they made it seem as if he spent the whole time mastering genjutsu before busting out his awesome new move.
Carolyn: Agreed. It gives some justification for his almost rockstar status amongst his classmates. But also goes to show that hard work and determination are key factors.
Danni: It was cool seeing a physical manifestation of chakra just obliterating anything near it, but it still bums me out that Naruto doesn’t get to be the protagonist of his own show.
Kevin: Sasuke running down the wall, ball of lightning in hand, is one of the most iconic moments in anime for me. It stuck in my imagination for years after seeing it for the first time. My only issue with it is that Guy and Kakashi try to explain away the name change, and it doesn’t really make sense why the technique has two names.
Paul: Having never watched Naruto before, and having only ever absorbed bits and pieces of it through cultural osmosis over the years, I'm ashamed to admit that when I kept hearing people say “Chidori”, I assumed that it was the name of a kunoichi. I think the technique is cooler when Kakashi uses it, personally.
Kara: Despite my aforementioned feeling for Lee, I gotta admit the Chidori looked pretty rad. And yeah, I kind of thought Chidori was a person and not a move, but I’m looking forward to seeing it used later.
Noelle: There’s no questioning it, Chidori looks awesome!
Jared: It makes sense he would inherit a devastating attack like that, plus it’s a cool looking attack to boot.
This segment of the show really gets to let Shikamaru shine a bit, with him fighting Temari and also fighting the faceless Sound Ninja. Shikamaru was always a favorite of mine, and I know some of you like him too, so how do you feel after seeing him get some serious action?
Joseph: I love Shikamaru’s attitude, and I appreciate how differently his fight ends up playing out compared to the rest of the tournament. With that in mind, his real highlight is episode 70 in the classic trope of staying behind to give your teammates a chance to escape. The resolution of that scene is fantastic.
Carolyn: I love him! He’s basically a genius mastermind who hates that he’s so capable and it’s great. I agree that his stepping up in the actual battle is where he really shines this time around. My favorite bit would actually have to be his very, very detailed plans for how he expects the rest of his life/future to turn out. The boy has brains and strategy, to say the least.
Danni: He has such a bad attitude, and I love it. It was great finally seeing him thinking five steps ahead of everyone else around him. I hope he eventually figures out some kind of finisher for when he has someone trapped in shadow paralysis.
Kevin: Seeing Shikamaru actually fight is a bit odd. I love seeing him in action, but he is most at home as a tactician. In his first fight, he gave up because he was running low on chakra, and in the second fight he needed his teacher to save him because he ran out of chakra. He is a brilliant strategist, but don’t force him to actually fight people himself.
David: Honestly, I don’t think the show does a great job of convincing me of Shikamaru’s character. We don’t know a whole lot about him before this, which is fine, but then he ‘defeats’ Temari mostly because she forgets a tunnel can also have a shadow in it. Then later Sakura is impressed when he stays behind to stall the enemies because he has never been “this reliable of a character before” as she puts it, but most of what we’ve seen from him has been a subverting of that so far, which doesn’t work when I wasn’t convinced of the original concept in the first place. So overall I’m less impressed than I remember being before.
Paul: I like the cerebral aspects to Shikamaru's fighting style, but I could do without the low-grade sexism of him complaining about how he keeps getting matched up against girls. The women in this universe are clearly as dangerous as the men, and a shuriken will kill you just as dead regardless of the gender of the person who throws it. Get over yourself, Cloud Boy.
Kara: It’s funny because Shikamaru annoyed me so much early on for being Captain Haaa Mendokusaaaai. Not that that’s not a mood. I do appreciate that the show played me (and Shikamaru’s classmates) for a fool with that, though. It never occurred to me that he might consider things boring because he’s already five steps ahead of everyone else. As much as I appreciate his tactics, I do kind of hope he gets his ass handed to him by a kunoichi before long.
Noelle: I really think that Shikamaru’s real time to shine comes later, but here we get a fairly good idea what he’s about. He’s smart, his fighting style is unconventional and that makes him rely more on tactics as opposed to brute strength. That being said, even though he’s up against Temari who is more along the lines of overpowering her opponents, this fight isn’t that bad.
Jared: I was kind of surprised just how much they put him over in these episodes. He certainly has a different style and attitude which is a refreshing change from everyone being rather serious about what they do. Although if he really wants to commit to the tranquilo lifestyle, he needs to be more cool and collected than just bored.
I remember my first time around not really understanding the resurrection jutsu in this show, and I won’t spoil things but it comes up again later. If it’s so easy to bring people back from the dead, why don’t people do it more often? Both the First and Second Hokage seem totally fine until Orochimaru controls them. What are your thoughts on this life and death power that we see here for the first time?
Joseph: I don’t recall how it’s used later in the series, but regardless of what it hints at this is just a cool way to heighten Orochimaru’s showdown against the Third Hokage and make him seem even nastier as a villain.
Carolyn: I don’t remember a lot in advance either, it’s been so long since I last watched the show. That’s why this is so much fun!
Danni: I...don’t really get it. I expected them to be zombies, but they seem totally unaffected. How are they supposed to be a threat when they’re friends with the guy they were summoned to defeat?
Kevin: I’m pretty sure that it’s not used more often because it’s a Forbidden Jutsu, like the Mass Shadow Clone jutsu, it’s just probably forbidden due to ethical issues. Seeing Resurrection for the first time, it doesn’t have as much impact as I would’ve expected. If Orochimaru brought back Zabuza, the audience would have a much stronger personal connection and we could measure a previous antagonist’s power against the Third Hokage’s. Instead, he summoned the First and Second Hokage, who are definitely better choices for Resurrection targets, but there are two problems. First, the audience has no idea who they are initially, so we aren’t as invested in the fight. Second, how did Orochimaru get their bodies? Shouldn’t they be under the tightest security the village can muster?
David: It’s currently confusing and weird and as far as I remember it only gets more confusing and weird.
Paul: I'm still of the opinion that Summoning style Ninjutsu techniques (and by extension, Resurrection techniques) don't actually summon a real, individual person or animal. Instead, I think they involve Chakra taking physical form, and that the resulting manifestation is shaped by the will of the summoner. I don't think that's literally Zombie Hokage 1 and Zombie Hokage 2 we see in Episode 70, but rather it's the idea of these Hokage colored and called into being by Orochimaru's memories, biases, and desires.
Kara: I have so many questions about the resurrection jutsu, mainly regarding the summoned people’s loyalties and the entire ethics of it. Granted, ethics in the world of Naruto are pretty screwy already. But the can of worms the show has opened up just by saying this can be done is big and squirmy and terrible. I hope they go into it more.
Noelle: Not going to lie, still kind of iffy on the Resurrection thing. Half zombies, half mind control, I suppose? I do think that revival is by no means easy, but Orochimaru lives for breaking out taboo jutsu anyway.
Jared: Gonna agree with some of the others and say it’s kind of confusing what’s actually happening. My thoughts were that they were able to come back but couldn’t disobey orders from Orochimaru? Whether it’s actually them or not, I’m not sure and I’d assume this isn’t done more often is because it’s a high level technique or forbidden.
And as always, what were the high and low points of this week’s batch of episodes?
Joseph: Low point: gosh, I actually really liked this section of episodes through and through. I guess, while I didn’t mind the tournament itself ending, the low point was cutting the fight between Gaara and Sasuke short. The high point was Pakkun and his SOFT AND SUPPLE PAWS.
Carolyn: High point is definitely Shikamaru taking charge and running through his already planned out future in his head. I don’t think I had a definite low point this week, but I laughed a lot at Sasuke’s James Bond-like introduction of himself at the exam. Does that count?
Danni: Can’t really think of any standout low points. I think the high point for me was finally getting to see the Third Hokage in action.
Kevin: High - Shikamaru’s thinking stance. Seeing him just take a moment to clear his mind, think of a plan, then start acting actually impacted my so much as a kid that it is seriously something I still do. Clasp my hands together in some kind of fake hand sign to focus my thinking to break out of my current mentality. Low - As simple as the moment is, my lowest point was when Kabuto knocked out Kiba. Sure, Kiba’s out, but Akamaru should still be conscious and making a ton of noise that would alert at least the crowd, meaning that Kabuto wouldn’t be able to cast the genjutsu that starts the war.
David: High point despite everything is Sasuke just bodying Gaara. Extremely satisfying and smooth to watch. Low point is Rock realizing how underpowered he is in the face of Sasuke, not necessarily because of the power level issues there, but just because no one is there to comfort him for it all.
Paul: Although I bagged on him earlier, my high point was Shikamaru pretending to be put to sleep by the hypnosis Genjutsu in order to avoid getting dragged into the bigger conflict, because he's just that much of a lazy ass at heart. My low point was probably the English translations for some of the episode titles. “Hit it or Quit it” and “Late to the Show, but Ready to Go” in particular rub me the wrong way, bruh.
Kara: High point is the existence of Pakkun. I love this good boy and his squishy paw pads. Low point is, again, having to watch Rock Lee watch Sasuke. Which is less a “the show did bad” low point like previous weeks, and more an “I feel sad about this” low point.
Noelle: High point, Sasuke vs Gaara, especially with Gaara freaking out over finally bleeding again. Low point, Rock Lee feeling bad because Sasuke powercreeped him, give Lee a break.
Jared: I really liked the Third Hokage taking off his hat to reveal an even cooler hat. Low point was my boy Rock Lee getting real sad about being overtaken by Sasuke.
How about a little bonus question? Since the Chunin exam ends and is more or less never referenced again, who do you think would have won had it gone to an actual conclusion?
Joseph: Knowing this show, probably Sasuke. Then they’d do the whole thing again later Dragon Ball style so Naruto could win.
Carolyn: It seems almost impossible, from a writing standpoint, that Gaara could win, though he’s so powerful that seems to be the logical choice. It’s too soon for Naruto to take it. So, I think Sasuke is the only real option, here.
Danni: No one. The proctor would try to stop Gaara from killing Sasuke, leading Gaara to kill everyone there rendering the entire exam null.
Kevin: I can’t imagine Shino defeating Temari, since she can blow any flying insects away and can fly to get away from any remaining ground insects, so she would advance to the finals. I could see Sasuke versus Gaara going either way (provided he don’t allow stuff Garaa reveals in the next set or two of episodes), but Naruto wouldn’t be a match for either of them, so whoever won that fight would advance. If Temari fought Gaara, she’d probably forfeit before the match even started. If she fought Sasuke, he could probably overwhelm her with speed alone. So unless shounen tropes intervened in the tournament to give Naruto a way to the finals, I suspect that either Sasuke or Gaara would win, depending on who won in the first round.
David: If Gaara’s powers had been allowed to completely come out—in other words, the tournament not interrupted—then Gaara would have completely obliterated Sasuke. Squashed him. He would be dust. Gaara would not only win but Sasuke would be dead.
Paul: Definitely Sasuke. Not only is he a prodigy, he's also got that whole legacy thing going for him as the last-remaining (non-evil) scion of the Uchiha clan. Whether he actually deserves to win it is another matter...
Kara: If things actually went as power levels and fighting styles seem to dictate they would, Gaara, nearly to the death. Considering how Naruto goes, Sasuke with one last-ditch, low-powered jutsu he learned in the first season.
Noelle: At this point in time, it would probably be either Sasuke or Gaara. Provided that Gaara doesn’t go berserk of course, Gaara would probably outmatch Sasuke. If Sasuke activates the power of plot armor, he’d likely make it to the top. Sorry, Naruto.
Jared: Probably the winner of Sasuke/Gaara, although with how everyone was incredibly drained after their first matches, I wonder if by the finals it’d just become a stamina battle and technique wouldn’t be as much of a factor.

how do you feel abt boruto?
ugh anon... ugh....like i don’t... talk about it because I hate it and there are ppl who follow me who are actually invested in this series... but honestly i really hate it and for a lot of reasons all of which boil down to very personal and emotional things: since i sometimes get random asks about Boruto that really just... aren’t what I care about, maybe this is as good a time as any to break it down that I’m here for Naruto and Shippuden, not for Boruto because... well, it’s a laundry list:
1) CH700 and Boruto was character assassination at its finest. Naruto as a series has many flaws, but I loved the characters in this series, and Boruto took the characters we know and love and shat all over them. Like that’s not to say Kishimoto never did because he certainly did that at times just fine on his own. But Boruto? No. These characters are not the characters I loved. At all. They are so blatantly out of character it’s laughable to even call this thing a spinoff. It’s a pathetic attempt at cashing in on the success of Naruto and honestly does the series, its characters, and its fans a huge disservice. It’s a slap in the face.
2) it’s a fucking cash cow. it’s like watching the HP franchise continue to produce more unasked for content. I love HP, but I do not care about CC or FBaWtFT. I don’t care about Pottermore and all of JK’s bullshit. It’s the same with Naruto. I never asked for Boruto. I never asked for all those fucking dumbass novels that came after the end of the series. I never asked for the blatant homophobia of 700 or fucking Cursed Child. But people can make money off these things, so they keep rehashing the same shit in new unoriginal ways to steal money from ppl with an emotional investment in this series. Hence why it’s a fucking slap in the face as per my first point.
3) Probably my most important point: 700 and Boruto are blatantly homophobic. You can’t pretend that Kishimoto and everyone behind Naruto don’t know about SasuNaru, that they aren’t WELL AWARE of its popularity based on the CANON. I mean holy shit the Naruto and Sasuke seiyuu literally made a drama CD based on a SasuNaru fic. They fucking shipped Sasuke and Naruto together so hard. They wanted that shit to be canon. THE FUCKING VOICE ACTORS!!! 700/Boruto shoehorned every character into a heterosexual relationship so that all these characters can produce offspring that I largely have no emotional investment in for various and sundry reasons. A huge part of the character assassination that was committed was literally tied to the blatant homophobia in 700. You literally have a plot that is setting us up to believe that Boruto and Sarada are gonna be like a romantic thing????? that fucking KISS??!?! THE EXACT SAME KISS THAT NARUTO AND SASUKE HAD??? TO THE POINT IT LITERALLY LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE JUST FUCKING TRACED OVER NARUTO AND SASUKE?!?! HOW FUCKING DARE! LIKE THEY SPAT IN THE FACE OF EVERY GAY PERSON WHO HAS BEEN EMOTIONALLY INVESTED IN NARUTO! Like not only is it fucking lazy ass writing, but it’s fucking homophobic. We get it! YOU HATE THE GAYS! But sure do love our money.
4) Every fucking woman is a house wife? Really? REALLY? Temari and Karui just...up and left their villages? because marriage? and babies? like that’s such a fucking load of shit. Sakura. Ino. Tenten. All of them are just... house wives. Like I could accept Hinata--MAYBE, if and ONLY IF, she’d had any growth and been able to discover herself outside of Naruto and actually been allowed to like address any of the issues of her fucked up clan. But like she didn’t. Neji died so she could be a housewife with a man who barely knows her and a man she barely fucking knows. God. The misogyny of the writing continues in how its presented the female characters we love--from all of them being housewives (or in Tenten’s case having a failing weapons business?) to them being fucking abusive mothers/wives. Character assassination wrapped up in sweet misogyny AND homophobia.
5) None of these characters are good anymore. None of the important points of the series matter. The Uchiha clan massacre? That literal state sanctioned genocide? Who cares. No one needs to know the truth. Caste system of the Hyuuga clan? Bah! It’s fine. Hinata’s horrible fucking abusive ass dad is so happy to have his grandbabies. Never mind the literal hell he put his daughter and nephew through. All’s forgiven! Naruto is a bad fucking Hokage who has done NOTHING to bring the crimes Konoha has committed to light, done nothing to change this horrible fucking militaristic system they live in that’s abused and killed countless CHILDREN. Like Naruto is just flat out bad at everything. He and Sasuke are bad fucking dads. Like he and Sasuke were these kids who were orphaned, who were abused, who were neglected--and they’re not just struggling as parents they are actively bad and awful. It’s like why? What was the point of that? Why even make these ppl parents if they don’t even seem to care about their kids?
6) Rehashing the same fucking shit. Boruto’s got some prophecy about him, he’s probably gonna defect and destroy everything he loves or what-the-fuck-ever. He and Salad kiss the same way fucking Naruto and Sasuke kissed. Metal Lee and Shinki fight during the Chuunin exams. Like I don’t fucking watch or read this. This is what I know of the rehashing, and it’s like so dull. I don’t care. at all.
Like I won’t pretend that I’m reading or watching this series, so I can’t really say much more about the actual plot (which I literally don’t care about) or any other possible bad rehashing of things that have been done or will be done. Truthfully I know far more about this series than I ever wanted to by default of being involved in fandom, but that being said it’s just a fucking unoriginal rehash in a lot of ways to get more money. And even if it wasn’t I don’t care! It could have the most interesting plot, the most complex and masterfully woven story and I would not give two shits about it. It could be more politically charged than Naruto and I’d still rather burn it all to the ground and spend my time writing fix-it fics.
Like if ppl have an emotional investment in Boruto and these new kids and the story, that’s fine! Good for them, do you, be happy. But quite frankly I don’t care and it’s exhausting thinking about this series that makes me so fucking angry because of how fucking dirty it did characters I love, and how fucking homophobic and misogynistic its entire existence is. Like I’m nice to ppl who send me asks about it because w/e, it’s not worth being like an asshole to someone who just wants to talk about it, but ultimately sending me asks about Boruto is just... I don’t care about the series, I don’t know about the series, and it does nothing for me to talk about this series but make me angry. Like I have friends who like it, and like good for them but I honestly don’t want to talk about it much because of all the above things. And I don’t want someone coming to me tryna convince me that I’m wrong, or that I should give it a chance. I do NOT care. I do not. You cannot make me look at 700 and say there’s potential. You cannot make me look at the characters I love being done this dirty. And you cannot make me get over the blatant homophobia. Like y’all go right ahead and enjoy it. I don’t care. I’m not gonna sit around and rain on your parade, but honestly I just... don’t want to talk about Boruto at all if I can help it.
My opinions and feelings on it go this far. I will say I like some of the kids in like a distant way. As if they were cute fandom OCs--Chouchou is wonderful, Shikadai has done nothing wrong by nature of his existence because ShikaTema is good and wonderful and was always gonna be canon (literally the only good endgame), Metal is a pure child who deserves the world and two dads who love him, Inojin has kinda grown on me that fugly lookin alien child. Like I really do sort of just divorce these children from the series as a whole so I can still enjoy making fun posts about Metal being Lee and Gaara’s son, or appreciate the existence of Choucou or Shikadai. But... that’s like the extent of my positive feelings on this series. I will never have positive feelings about it beyond that. So like /shrug emoji/

SasuSaku Month 2017 - Day 11 (Shelter from the Rain)
Title: Weathering the Storm
READ ON FANFICTION.NET
Summary:  Mid-mission, Sasuke and Sakura are trapped in a torrential downpour. But they choose the wrong spot to hide and instead Sasuke finds himself facing a storm within. Genin SasuSaku. Genre: Adventure / Romance  Rated: T(Teen) Words: 3835 A/N: So I initially set out to write something cute and fluffy as a light break from the craziness of writing A Twist in Time… and then this happened instead. :’) I hope you enjoy!  Disclaimer: All characters belong to the great Masashi Kishimoto.
“In here, Sasuke-kun! Come on!”
Sasuke’s head jerks up at the sound of his teammate’s voice from somewhere around the bend and follows it, his sandals sinking an inch into the mud with each sloshing step he takes. He’s as desperate as she for some refuge from the torrential downpour they have the misfortune of being stranded in.
But what led them to this predicament in the first place? Well…
Team Seven was tasked with capturing the bandits presumed to be stealing food and livestock from a poor, no-named village on the Western outskirts of Yugakure. They figured it would be a piece of cake, considering the hell the trio had been through in recent months (namely, the Chūnin Exams and the shitstorm that followed them). But while they searched Yuga’s Western forests, where the bandits had been spotted last, Sasuke detected a chilling disturbance – one that sent familiar waves of pain up his neck.
“We need to move!” Sasuke yelled, just as white spots began to cloud his vision and a pair of gentle hands helped him stand upright.
“The curse mark?” he heard Sakura whisper from somewhere beside him, but he never got around to answering her because then there was an explosion.
“What the-?” Naruto gasped, and leaping into a neighbouring tree as the ground below him crumbled to pieces. But then the tree split down the middle with a resounding crack and Naruto disappeared from view.
Sasuke was thrown backwards and it just about knocked the wind out of him. What the hell is going on? he thought while clambering to his feet and sensing Sakura do the same somewhere to his right. What kind of bandits use explosives?
Unless…
“Sasuke! Sakura! Find Naruto and get out of here!”
Kakashi sprang into view through the rubble and smoke, his Sharingan whirling to life. “Kakashi-sensei!” Sakura cried, and drawing nearer. “What about–?”
“I have a plan to hold them off! Get moving and I’ll catch up!” And then he was gone.
Sasuke and Sakura exchanged wide-eyed looks and nodded. As much as Sasuke hated being pushed out of the heat of battle, it made a whole lot more sense to listen to his sensei than to run into this fight completely blind. Also, they were already quite exhausted after two straight days of travel and that pang he felt in his neck indicated that, perhaps, they were up against tougher enemies than they bargained for.
“Let’s go!” he said, while grabbing Sakura’s arm and pulling her along with him, in the direction of the fallen tree he’d just spotted Naruto in.
But when they arrived, their teammate was no where in sight. And that was when the first of the raindrops began to fall.
“Shoot,” Sakura cursed while climbing through the debris and pushing aside fallen tree branches. “I don’t think he’s around here.”
“You’re right,” Sasuke agreed, his own Sharingan-lit eyes scanning the area for any trace of a familiar chakra presence, but to no avail. He neared his female teammate after casting an apprehensive glance towards the sky. The rain was coming down harder and thunder claps rumbled somewhere in the distance.
She straightened up and bit her lip. “Maybe he went back?” she offered, but her wide, emerald eyes held traces of disbelief.
Sasuke looked back to where he presumed their sensei was still awaiting battle, unless it had already begun. Could Naruto have returned there? Well, if he did, he’s with Kakashi now, and safer than being out on his own… But there was a nagging doubt at the back of his mind that he couldn’t quite place…
“But if he didn’t we have to find him,” Sakura continued and gesturing towards the expanse of wilderness ahead. It was clear that Sakura was skeptical about the situation too. Naruto, being the loud and flashy guy he was, was relatively unlikely to disappear from his teammates’ radars of his own free will.
Sasuke agreed and that was how their trek into the forest began.
And from there, a dreadful storm ensues, with ear-splitting thunder claps, sheets of water obscuring their vision, and howling winds that might have knocked them down if their feet weren’t lodged in the muddy ground. A shift occurred in their search, from being a hunt for a missing teammate to a scramble for temporary shelter.
“Shit,” Sasuke hisses when he climbs into the cramped, rocky alcove Sakura spotted nearby. If, for whatever reason, Naruto vanished because he’s in danger, the longer it takes to find him, the lower his odds are of being found unscathed.
Sakura seems to share the same frustrated sentiments, but unlike Sasuke, has a knack for holding her head up in desperate situations. “I’m sure he’s okay,” she says determinedly as she pushes soaked strands of her short, pink hair away from her eyes. “We can use this opportunity to strategize.”
Sasuke mops some of the perspiration off his face with the inside of his collar then turns to look at his teammate properly. She’s shivering all over, water droplets are falling from the tip of her nose, and mud is splattered up her calves. And his initial instinct is to tell her to sit tight and try to warm herself up, but lately, Sasuke has been realizing that this girl deserves more credit than he previously thought.
“What do you have in mind?” he asks and somehow, his words appear to fill her up with some determination. She sits a little taller and her face flushes.
“Well,” she says while reaching into her weapon pouch and fishing out a scroll. “Maybe the scripture we found at the site of the latest robbery is more important than we thought. Oh! It’s still dry, thank the gods!” She rolls the paper open
Sasuke stares at his teammate for a few extra seconds before he shifts closer to her and peers over her shoulder. Why was it that he had been so insistent on not listening to Sakura before? She was getting smarter and stronger and fast and wasn’t exactly the weak link she used to be.
“I only grabbed this because it had the bandits’ fingerprints on it, and at first I thought they just picked it up by accident because it doesn’t make any sense, but what if it belonged to the bandits – or, whatever they are – and these are clues to finding them?” she speculates, and Sasuke just shrugs because maybe she’s right. He glances towards the mouth of the alcove to find it somehow raining even harder than it was before.
Well, it looks like they have a few minutes to spare either way.
And so, without any protest from her teammate, Sakura proceeds to re-read the scroll. Meanwhile Sasuke, who isn’t quite as good with deciphering puzzling texts, scans the forest ahead of them with his Sharingan activated for any sign of movement or chakra flares. He stays put though, with his arm stretched behind Sakura because, even though he’d never admit it, she’s warm and sitting close to her isn’t all that unpleasant.
Not long after, Sakura gasps and Sasuke jumps.
“What?” he asks, his hand hovering over his weapon pouch. God his teammates are expressive sometimes.
She doesn’t respond, but instead, looks to the rocky ground between them and starts running her hands along the surface, like she’s searching for something she dropped. The least he can do is move aside while she crawls about, patting the slick ground.
Sasuke opens his mouth to question her peculiar behaviour, but Sakura speaks first. “I am departed in at night… shake as if I’m angry, but never will I bite… Of course!” she mumbles, seeming to forget Sasuke is there at all.
She’s solving a riddle, that much I can tell, Sasuke thinks and raising his eyebrows.
“Aha! Look at this!” she finally exclaims and motioning to roll aside a boulder near the back of the cave. Sasuke still hasn’t got a clue what she’s doing but he crawls over and helps by giving the boulder a push.
There is a trapdoor beneath it.
Sasuke freezes and gapes down at his teammate’s discovery. “The scriptures had a series of riddles about passageways into enemy hideouts,” she breathes. “There was supposed to be one hidden in the ground at these general coordinates. And I… I think this is it.” She gulps and edges her way behind Sasuke. “Should we check it out?”
He feels his pulse racing. What a strange coincidence that they would take shelter in the opening of the enemy’s hideout. But that being said, if Naruto was captured… “Maybe this will give us a lead,” he says, though it’s probably quite unwise to explore enemy territory with their teammate missing and their sensei engaged in combat. “But how about we just –”
“—look but not go inside?” Sakura finishes and catching his eye. Sasuke nods and is relieved that they seem to be on the same wavelength.
They devise a plan where Sasuke will pull open the trapdoor with his Sharingan activated and ready to blast a fireball down the hole if they are attacked, with Sakura standing above him with weapons poised.
They assume their positions and Sasuke wrenches open the door with a loud creeeak… and…
Nothing happens.
“Oh good,” Sakura sighs and dropping to her knees beside him, without lowering her kunai. It appears the trapdoor is concealing a tunnel that leads deep into the ground. Aside from the metal rings that mark the top of a ladder, it’s pitch black with no way of gauging how far down the tunnel goes.
“Well, I guess this is the passageway described by the riddle,” Sakura muses while poking her head over the edge and squinting her eyes. “I guess now we should wait until we find… are you all right?”
Sasuke pulls his eyes from the tunnel and meets Sakura’s concerned ones. Am I…? Oh. He’s clutching the curse mark at his neck again. When had his hand moved up to do that?
“Sasuke-kun?” she asks and reaching for his arm to comfort him, but that is when Sasuke sees it.
There is a hand emerged from the tunnel, gripping onto its edge – pale, with spiraling black marks snaking along it…
“Sakura! No!” Sasuke yells, but the words are barely out of his mouth when, as quick as a flash, the hand takes hold of her ankle and yanks her in.
Sakura screams and flings her arms out towards Sasuke in her panic, and he manages to catch her hand, but with the combined slickness of their skin, which hadn’t quite dried from the downpour, he can’t hold on for long.
“No!” he shouts again as Sakura is pulled out of his reach and disappears into the dark tunnel below, his stomach flipping and his heart racing. He is in utter disbelief that he literally let Sakura slip away between his fingers…
Before he knows quite what he’s doing, Sasuke is leaping down the tunnel, bounding from wall to wall using chakra to anchor his feet and arms, and supporting a small flashlight between his teeth to make sure he doesn’t jump straight into an enemy.
If something happens to her…
His heart is thudding harder than he would ever admit.
This is my fault. I shouldn’t have opened that door… I should have taken her far away from here…
The descent is unsettlingly long and Sasuke can only pray to the gods that Sakura hadn’t free-fallen any of this distance…
Sasuke touches ground and shocks rocket through his ankles. It takes a moment for him to gain his bearings. He finds himself in an underground cavern with high ceilings, tunnels branching from it, and torches lining the walls that emit an eerie, green light.
He sends another pulse of chakra to his eyes in attempt to sharpen his Sharingan’s view of his surroundings. Where is…?
He spies a body just a little further ahead, splayed out on the dark, concrete floor.
Sasuke is barreling towards it a fraction of a second later, hoping beyond hope that it isn’t Sakura and if it is, to please let her be…
But as it gets closer, it becomes apparent that it isn’t Sakura, though that didn’t calm him any because it’s Naruto.
We were right. He was kidnapped, Sasuke thinks while crouching beside his friend and checking his vitals. And much to his relief, there is a heartbeat, and, all in all, Naruto seems to be in decent shape – just knocked unconscious.
But… who did this to him?
Sasuke gets his answer a little sooner than he anticipates.
He hears Sakura’s scream echo through the cavern.
Then his body goes on autopilot.
Sasuke sprints through the cavern with Naruto hoisted on his back, towards where he just came from, past the tunnel leading into the alcove, and into a small clearing lined with gigantic, black doors that look like vaults. And in the center of the clearing are two figures – a large, burly one with grotesque marks spiraling along his body, and a petite one with her arm bent at an awkward angle. They appear to be mid-fight and are facing each other, though it’s apparent that it won’t last much longer for…
“Sakura!” Sasuke yells instinctively while dropping Naruto and racing towards the center of the clearing to meet her.
“Sas-,” she starts, her eyes flitting in his direction, and all Sasuke can process are the cuts and bruises lining her limbs and her visibly broken arm, but then Sakura’s opponent snatches her by the throat.
And it’s hard to tell it if it’s the sound of her straggled scream, Sasuke’s relatively low reserves of chakra, or the fact that Sakura’s opponent reeks of Orochimaru, but that is when it’s like his Sharingan inverse – Sasuke’s world is stained red.
With a rush of dark, vengeful energy, Sasuke finds himself in the air and firing weapons encased in balls of fire towards the enemy, and it’s enough to throw him off course and fling Sakura aside. Then, with a burst of speed that Sasuke himself can’t comprehend, he also manages to catch Sakura before she hits the ground.
“Sasuke-kun! Oh – not this again!” comes her distant, hazy gasp.
What’s wrong? he thinks while leaning down to look at the girl in his arms, but that’s when he catches sight of the black marks creeping up his arm and the raging purple chakra surrounding them.
Ah yes. This again.
Sasuke stands and examines his hand and how each mark leaves angry red smears across his skin. The sensation is burning and all-consuming and…
…intoxicating.
“You!”
The enemy is crouching in preparation to pounce, his teeth bared and beady eyes locked on Sasuke’s. And that’s when it finally occurs to Sasuke just what those marks on the man’s skin are. I’m not the only one, it seems, he thinks while cracking his knuckles and feeling a wicked smirk grace his lips.
But not for long.
He has the man pinned to the ground an instant later.
“You brat!” the man sneers while clawing at Sasuke’s arm with a heavy, taloned hand, but Sasuke is far too high on power to feel any pain. He is also too busy contemplating the best way to end his opponent’s life.
“Perhaps… slow and painful?” he thinks aloud in a voice he hardly recognizes, as he summons tiny, chirping lightening bolts to his fingers and drags them teasingly across the man’s chest. The electricity tears the fabric and skin there, and the man cries out in shock while twisting desperately against Sasuke’s restraints. “No, you don’t like that? Shall I speed things up?” And then there is a complete, throbbing Chidori in the center of Sasuke’s palm, hovering directly over the opponent’s head, ready to descend and crush his skull –
“Sasuke-kun, STOP!”
He feels a tremor in his hands and freezes.
It’s Sakura, from somewhere on his left. She’s sobbing.
“Please… Sasuke-kun… stop!”
Sensation returns to his body and he vaguely notices that his arm is bleeding and that his heart is thudding against his chest.
I’m about to kill a man.
There’s perspiration lining his brow and his body begins to tremble. But this power… It feels so exhilarating. And there is a sickeningly hopeful gleam in his opponent’s eyes now that he notices the flicker of doubt in Sasuke’s former resolve…
Sasuke closes his eyes and lets his lightning blade descend.
It pierces the cursed man’s shoulder, severing the flesh and cracking the bone, and the man screams and withers, but he doesn’t die.
Then Sasuke is dragged away from the man by small, strong hands with vice grips on his sleeves, and he surrenders to the force and stumbles into Sakura.
Her green eyes are brimming with tears, her lip is trembling, and blood trickles from a cut on her cheekbone, and Sasuke feels the curse begin to subside, dragging back to the constraint on his neck like fiery claws.
Sakura appears to release a breath as she brings her hands up to his face to wipe something off his forehead and jaw. And the friction brings him some grounding comfort, reminds him that this is him – here with her, and not… not what he was just now. Not a slave to Orochimaru’s curse mark. Not a killer.
“Let’s get out of here,” Sakura breathes, and she doesn’t have to tell him twice.
Sasuke collapses to his hands and knees when he stumbles into the cabin, Team Seven’s base camp, trudging mud and water all over the wood floor. Naruto slumps forward against his back and Sasuke carefully manoeuvres him off and then helps Sakura carry him over to the couch.
Fortunately, they made it out of the tunnel before any other curse-riddled cronies of Orochimaru’s got to them, but then they found themselves trapped in the very storm they were striving to get away from (though it didn’t seem quite as catastrophic anymore, at least, compared to what they just experienced).
Yes, so it seems Orochimaru was involved in this mess after all, which, in retrospect, shouldn’t be so surprising because they were awfully close to the Otogakure boarder. And perhaps this explained Naruto’s capturing. Orochimaru always had quite a keen interest in Team Seven and luring them into trouble.
“There’s a message from Kakashi-sensei,” Sakura says quietly from where she stands by the kitchen table. “Must have been sent by a dog summon. It says he’s okay and will meet us here in an hour, once he’s certain the enemy is off his trail.”
“Good,” is all Sasuke manages to get out in response, just after he deems Naruto to be in good condition. He suspects their teammate will wake anytime now. Then Sasuke approaches Sakura by the table and finds that, by the gods, she’s smiling.
“Well that was a terrible, wasn’t it? Why can’t our team get a normal C-Ranked mission?” she asks with a soft, musical chuckle.
He raises an eyebrow and folds his arms, observing his ever-puzzling teammate. She led them to this cabin, by the way. She knew how to get here all along because she left markers to trace their path (which was so by-the-book and so Sakura). But she hadn’t mentioned it sooner because following the markers entailed backtracking to where Kakashi had previously been fighting. But in their desperation to flee Orochimaru’s experimental cavern, they took the wager and luckily, Kakashi and his opponents appeared to have relocated.
“Are you all right, Sasuke-kun?” she asks and he notices her eyes shift to his neck.
He doesn’t have it in him to lie. “Better,” Sasuke says, not directly answering her question. That’s when he remembers her broken arm. “But you aren’t,” he remarks.
“I’m fine,” she lies while taking a nervous step back and motioning to conceal her awkwardly-bent arm behind her back. But she doesn’t get around to it because, despite her gasp of protest, Sasuke scoops her up and sits her on a kitchen chair. He snatches one of the moth-bitten blankets from the armchair behind him, drapes it around her shoulders, then rummages through the cupboards for first aid supplies. He knows enough of the basics to set her arm, which should tide things over until Kakashi returns or they find a proper medic.
Sakura holds out her arm when she realizes Sasuke’s intentions. “Thank you,” she mutters through chattering teeth. Sasuke’s hands are trembling slightly throughout the procedure, and he suspects not only from the cold. She whimpers softly but doesn’t cry as he sets her small limb back in place, but his gut still twists painfully.
When it’s done, Sasuke kneels in front of her and rests a hand on her knee. “I’m sorry,” he says abruptly and he’s not entirely sure what he’s saying it for – for the painful procedure, for letting her get hurt in the first place, for losing control and frightening her…
And honestly, if it weren’t for Sakura’s sharp analytical skills, they might have been goners. She found Naruto. She discovered Orochimaru’s involvement in the mysterious robberies. She led them back here, to safety.
Now, if it had been Naruto to save the day, Sasuke would have felt jealous, but with Sakura?
He felt something like pride with a bit of guilt mixed in.
“Sasuke-kun,” she says and it startles him. He realizes that both of his arms are resting on her lap, hugging her legs, and his hands are squeezing her knees. But as he motions to move away, Sakura holds his hand in place.
Sasuke freezes and meets her gaze.
“You have nothing to be sorry about,” she says and smiling that same bewildering, watery smile. “We’re safe and we’re together and soon we’ll get to the bottom of this and stop that Orochimaru guy once and for all.”
It’s a grand statement coming from a ninja of her stature and rank, but there’s something comforting in knowing that someone with this kind of optimism even exists at the time like this.
Sasuke stares at her, for a second too long maybe, to examine the strange light in her eyes and the way her wet hair clings to her face. She blinks at him and her face colours.
“Annoying,” he mumbles while leaning forward to burry his face in his arms and conceal the colour tinting his own cheeks. And he imagines Sakura pouting at him with confusion, but she doesn’t voice her thoughts. Instead, he feels the delicate fingers of her uninjured arm reach out to stoke his hair.
Sakura massages careful, gentle patterns along his temples and the base of his head, sending pleasing chills up and down his spine and despite how cold and exhausted he is, something about the sensation warms him up.
He gives her knee another squeeze and thinks about how, and not for the first time, he would never, ever let this girl slip between his fingers again.

Summary: Sasuke looks as if he has been turned to stone, his hands clenching around the kit in his hands. If she didn’t think he could turn any redder, she was mistaken. For several seconds his eyes zero in on everything below her neck. Sakura feels the warmth in her cheeks travel downward at this, and trying for confidence, she purrs, “Like what you see?” [SasuSaku Festival 2017 – Day 12 – Prompt: “The Virgin Sees”]

Beta Reader: Sakura’s Unicorn
It starts out as a run-of-the-mill information retrieval mission.
Simple, straightforward—they don’t even need the whole team. It’s just as well; Kakashi has been helping Naruto improve his change-of-nature techniques, and Sakura’s been hoping for some quality alone-time with Sasuke. Between everyone’s training regimen, it’s hard to find the time to just be two fifteen-year-olds in Not-Quite-Love-But-Slowly-Getting-Past-Like.
So, when Lady Tsunade proposes the mission to retrieve some stolen documents from a group of mercenary ninja and deliver it to the intended recipients, Sakura jumps on it. It’s easy, requiring stealth and intelligence which both she and Sasuke excel at.
Everything goes perfectly, until it turns out that one of the enemy is a sensor type.
Sakura and Sasuke’s carefully planned infiltration and extraction gets turned into an all-out brawl. They get the documents, but they’ve been made and are now being hunted through the forest.
On top of that, a shuriken has just become deeply embedded in the fleshy part beneath Sakura’s left shoulder blade. Sasuke hangs back, ready to grab her, but she steadies herself mid-stumble.
“I’m fine,” she insists, despite the cold pain and the feel of blood soaking through her shirt.
Sasuke considers her, and she knows from his expression that he’s weighing their options. If the wound is deep, blood-loss will make a long-distance sprint impossible, but in their current situation, they’re at a disadvantage.
“We need a distraction,” he says. “You or me?”
The fact that he isn’t even acknowledging her wound shows how far they’ve come over the years. He knows she can take care of herself.
She smirks. “Well, you’re pretty, but I don’t think you’re their type.”
The corner of his mouth tugs upward at this and he nods, turning to leave. “Five minutes,” he tells her. “Three if you don’t have a choice.”
And then he is gone. Seconds later, the enemy catches up and she is surrounded on all sides by a half-dozen missing-nin dressed in black.
“Seriously?” she asks as the closest ones lunge at her. “Why do people like you always dress in black?” She bends into her taijutsu forms, dodging blows and volleys of shuriken. “Wouldn’t it be smarter for mercenaries to dress in camouflage?”
One of them tries to slip past her and she tosses an exploding tag in front of him, forcing him to jump backward to avoid the blast. Her shoulder burns and her side is now slick with blood, but she knows her limits. If she can just make it to five minutes…
It’s four minutes before she begins to feel lightheaded and is forced to make a quick getaway. As she flits through the trees, she hears the raucous laughs and victory shouts; they think they have her on the run: a wounded wolf being chased back to her den.
Up ahead, she sees Sasuke waiting on the other side of a clearing. His fingers flash in what anyone else would interpret as hand signs from a distance, but she knows they are a series of numbers. Grid coordinates, just as they’ve practiced.
Still running full-speed ahead, she assesses the open space, makes a quick calculation in her head, and dives into the air. It’s difficult to twist her body to avoid the razor-thin wires, especially given her wound, but she manages. Her pursuers won’t notice the gleaming strands until it’s too late.
And she’s through.
She botches the landing, however, stumbling and rolling once she hits the ground. Still, she doesn’t stop, stagger-crawling onward and glancing over her shoulder to make sure she’s in the clear.
The mercenary-nin enter the clearing as well, see her on the ground, and assume she’s succumbed to her injury. There’s more yelling, more promises of a slow and painful death, and several of them dive into the air toward her.
The minute they’re airborne, Sasuke’s fist fills with electricity and he hurls it forward. The wires come alive with a current, lightning jolting through the giant spider’s web below the mercenaries. It’s far too late for them to react, and electricity surges through their bodies. Within moments, heaps of unconscious ninja lie among the grass and tree roots.
In a final move, Sakura pulls back her uninjured arm and shoves a precise burst of chakra into the ground. The clearing splinters, collapsing beneath the unconscious men, burying them in the eroding rubble.
It’ll be a while before any of them are able to follow her or Sasuke.
“Nice teamwork,” she beams at him, going down on one knee.
Sasuke scowls. “They were already unconscious,” he points out. “You wasted your strength, and now I have to carry you.”
She sticks out her tongue. “Well, that’ll be a break from usual, then. Because usually, I’m the one carrying you.”
He mutters something unintelligible and probably insulting under his breath then scoops her up in a fireman hold—he can’t risk jostling or removing the shuriken just yet—and they’re off. Sakura shamelessly uses the opportunity to admire his backside as he runs. They stop only when Sasuke is sure that they’ve reached safety.
There’s a small, shaded glade near a river with enough leaf coverage to keep them out of sight of anyone who might come looking. He puts her down carefully and examines the wound.
“It’s deep, but it hasn’t hit anything vital,” he informs her.
“I could’ve told you that.” She tries to move her arm around to examine it herself with her fingertips, but can’t quite reach.
“Stop that,” he orders. “You’ll tear it further. I shouldn’t have to tell you that.”
“Right. Because you make such great decisions when it comes to your health.”
“I’m not a trained medical-nin.”
“So, that’s an excuse to get yourself half-killed?”
His only response is a glower.
“How about, instead of shooting me dirty looks, you stitch me up?” she suggests. It’s not an unreasonable expectation; he’s done it before. “Do you still have that healing balm Naruto asked Hinata to give you?”
“Yes, it’s in my pack.”
“We’ll need that when you’re done. For now, though, go get some water.”
“Hm.” He turns to head for the spring. “Wait here.”
Hah! Like she’s planning on leaving!
Sakura reaches into her own pack, digging for her suture kit. She lays it out and, with minimal maneuvering, pulls off her shirt and sports bra. She swears as some of the threads get stuck on the shuriken, then tugs them out and quickly applies a cloth compresses. The sooner Sasuke stitches this up, the better.
There’s a muffled thump behind her and she whips around, clenching a fist in expectation of an enemy behind her. Instead, she finds Sasuke, jaw dropped and cheeks flushed with colour, the canteen lying at his feet.
“Sasuke?” she questions, unsure at first what has him so startled. It takes a few extra seconds before she realises it’s her bare breasts that are throwing him off. Her mouth tugs into a rueful smile. “If I was anyone else right now, I would’ve bled out in the amount of time it’s taking you to treat my wound. Now are you going to do something, or do I have to find a mirror and do it myself?”
He visibly shakes himself out of his daze, but continues to blush furiously. It would be amusing if she didn’t have an open wound right now. “We’re in a combat situation,” she reminds him. “Can you maybe think with your upstairs brain?”
His mouth shuts with an audible click, and the glare he gives her is beyond annoyed. But he picks up the canteen and makes his way over. He looks everywhere but at her chest as he sits behind her. She hears rummaging in the suture kit.
“What does it look like?”
“Like a gash.”
“Very funny, Sasuke. I mean, how deep is it?”
“I told you, nothing vital was clipped. It’s just deep,” he says. “I’m going to clean it then start on the stitches. Try not to move.”
They’re quiet as he threads the needle through her skin. The job is long and tedious. She needs something to occupy her mind so she doesn’t wince every time she feels a pinch.
“So…” she begins. “I never realised you were so easily flustered.”
The needle pauses. “What?”
“I mean, it’s a little weird. We spent six months in each other’s bodies that one time. Seeing me without a shirt on shouldn’t be anything new.”
“We were thirteen,” he snaps, a strained note in his voice. “And you didn’t have…” She notices his unoccupied hand make a vague motion out of the corner of her eye. “… those.”
“The word you’re looking for is breasts,” she supplies, amused. “And while I’m glad you’ve noticed them, they really haven’t changed all that much.”
“Yeah, well, I wasn’t exactly sitting in front of a mirror making an in-depth catalogue of your freckle-to-skin ratio back then,” Sasuke replies defensively, jabbing the needle through her shoulder with a little more force than necessary.
Sakura hisses in response and tries to glare at him over her shoulder. He, in turn, is staring at her shoulder wound as if it holds the secrets of the universe and he can’t afford to lose his concentration. Her annoyance turns to curiosity, because she only ever sees Sasuke get like this in two cases—when he’s furious and when he’s uncomfortable. Considering the situation, and the fact he usually lashes out at people who infuriate him with violence, she guesses it’s the latter.
But why? It’s not as if he…
Well, he’s had to have seen a naked woman before, right? Even aside from the utterly bizarre swap they underwent when they were genin, he should’ve had the opportunity. They’ve both studied biology with diagrams and everything. He’s the student of Kakashi Hatake, the most perverted shinobi in Konoha since Jiraiya. He’s also teammates with Naruto, who not only parades around with his horrible Sexy Jutsu, but has been known to sneak into the women’s bathhouse—she can just picture him dragging Sasuke along.
“I don’t get it,” she says. “You’ve seen Naruto.”
“Naruto isn’t real like..” Sasuke snaps before abruptly cutting off his words at the back of his throat as if his mouth has betrayed him.
“Like I’m real?” she supplies, her own cheeks turning pink.
“…”
“So, just now, that was the first time you’ve really seen a naked woman?”
“I’m not talking about this with you.”
“But you just mean real as in alive, right? You’ve seen—I mean, I’ve been to Naruto’s apartment and I’ve lived with Kakashi. I know guys have stashes of those magazines. You have to have...” He growls slightly. “Oh. Wow.” Another idea occurs to her, and before she can stop herself, she blurts out, “Does that mean you’ve also never…”
“Never what?” he asks tightly, like he’s already regretting asking.
“You know…” This time it’s Sakura who makes a vague up and down motion with her hands. She feels him fumble with the needle and yelps.
“No!”
“Oh.”
There’s a heavy, uncomfortable silence.
“That actually explains a lot,” she finally says. She knew Sasuke was repressed when it came to this sort of stuff, but what teenaged boy doesn’t—ahem—take matters into his own hands?
She’s a little concerned for him.
“What’s that supposed to—Wait.” His voice drops in suspicion and something like wary curiosity. “Have you?”
Sakura’s cheeks are definitely warmer than they were before, but she tamps down any sense of embarrassment. Medic-ninja don’t get embarrassed by this sort of thing.
“It’s a natural, biological function. Of course I have,” she sniffs. “Which is why I don’t believe you haven’t. Unless…unless you’re just not interested. Which is okay, too, I guess.” She really hopes that’s not the case. “Lot’s of people don’t—”
“I’m interested, okay?” Sasuke barks. “I’m very, very interested.” When she turns to shoot him an amused, challenging look, he scowls. “You know what I mean.”
“Kind of don’t.”
“It’s about having discipline.”
“Are you sure it’s not about having some kind of health issue? If you don’t ever get arou—”
“Stop talking!” he cries. “I do, but I can control it. It’s just a matter of focus. End of discussion.”
“What’s the point, though?”
“I’m done,” he announces. She turns around in time to see him jump to his feet and hurry back to the spring as if he’s been burned or she has some kind of transmissible disease.
Right. Because avoiding the problem will make it go away, she thinks peevishly, checking the sutures. They’re a little sloppy—he must’ve been really distracted by the topic of conversation.
And he still hasn’t answered her.
A mad idea occurs to her then. She almost dismisses it outright, but then figures, she might not get another chance like this. It’s rare that they’re alone together these days, even rarer that they are sent out on the same mission. He can’t just run away from her in the middle of a mission, even if the mission is pretty much complete and might as well just be a stroll through the woods at this point.
In a fit of bravery, she strips off the rest of her clothing, drops it in a pile at her feet, and waits for Sasuke to return from the spring, hands on her hips.
He’s several feet away before he clues into what he’s seeing, and then he freezes.
Sasuke looks as if he has been turned to stone, his hands clenching around the kit. If she didn’t think he could turn any redder, she was mistaken. For several seconds, his eyes zero in on everything below her neck. Sakura feels the warmth in her cheeks travel downward at this and, trying for confidence, she purrs, “Like what you see?”
Sasuke’s head jerks up, but instead of meeting her eyes, he looks to the side. “Sakura…why…why are you…”
“You can’t be flustered like this,” she lectures him. “Naked people happen. Sometimes, you end up having to help them, especially in rescue or disaster situations. Not everyone has time to get dressed when something happens, and you can’t—”
“I…don’t have a problem with naked people,” he grits out through clenched teeth.
“Oh, really?”
He makes a strangled sound low in his throat, which might be an affirmative; she watches his fists clench and unclench, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallows. Sasuke is doing everything in his power not to look at her right now, and it’s actually bothering her.
In fact, she’s a little hurt.
“Sasuke, look at me.”
“No.”
“I’m giving you permission.”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Because you’re…”
“Naked. Yes. We’ve established that,” she rolls her eyes. “And to tell you the truth, the fact that my boyfriend doesn’t want to see me naked, it’s kind of insulting.”
“What? No!” he actually does look at her now—briefly—before again averting his gaze. “That’s not—I want to, just not—”
“Just not?”
“Like…this.”
“Then how?”
“Could you just—please put your clothes back on?”
Sakura hesitates, and then sighs in frustration. Slowly, she gathers up her pants and tunic and pulls them back on. Sasuke twitches with every rustle of her clothing, and when she’s done, she grumbles, “It’s fine. You can look now, I’m decent.”
He exhales and she watches the tension flow from his body.
“I’m sorry for putting you through such a hardship,” she bites out, balling her hands into fists. “Let me make it easier on you and give you some space. I’ve got to figure out where we are anyway, so—”
She begins to breeze by him, but his hand snaps out and grabs hold of her wrist. “Sakura.”
“It’s fine, Sasuke.”
“No, it’s not.”
She takes a few calming breaths, fighting down her annoyance. She has no right to be angry about this. It’s not like he can help being uncomfortable. Even if she is hurt, she isn’t going to let it ruin their relationship.
“Forget it, Sasuke. It’s all right. We’ll pretend this didn’t happen, okay? We’ll never talk about it again, if that’s what you want.”
“That’s not what I want,” he tells her, tugging her back so she’s facing him. His entire face is drawn tight, as if in concentration, like he’s trying his best to find the right words. “Sakura, when I think of…when I think of seeing you like that, it’s not in a forest in the middle of nowhere, or with you wounded on a mission, or stripping of your clothes to make a point. It’s in our home. With me taking off your clothes. Because we both want to.”
He is as red as his favourite fruit now, cringing as if worried she’ll be offended and take a swing at him. But Sakura isn’t focussed on the imagery of his little confession, so much as the word choice.
“Our?” she repeats.
“What?”
“You said our. Our home.”
If possible, he turns redder. “I meant—”
“Sasuke, are you asking me…”
“No! Yes. Not…not yet.” He shifts uncomfortably. “But one day.”
They are silent, then, the implications settling over both of them. Sakura isn’t sure what to say to that.
“I…” she begins, her emotions gravitating between being utterly confused and utterly pleased. “I didn’t realise you would be traditional about this sort of thing.”
He shrugs. “It’s something my father said once.”
“Your father? You must’ve been very young.”
“He didn’t say it to me,” Sasuke admits. In a lower voice, he adds, “He didn’t ever really say a lot to me. It was a conversation with Itachi, but I listened in. I did that a lot.”
The usual dark expression passes over his features, and she winds her wrist out of his hold to clasp his hand, offering him a comforting squeeze. “What did he say?”
Sasuke returns the brief pressure. “He said, there are certain experiences—certain privileges that you share only with the person whom you intend to spend the rest of your life with. As much as I…as much as I want…”
He trails off, looking at her meaningfully.
“You’re trying to honour his memory.”
“Hm.”
There’s another lull in the conversation as Sakura processes this. Then, “Okay.”
Sasuke blinks. “What?”
“Okay. We can wait,” she repeats. “I promise I won’t assault your virgin eyes with my naked flesh again before you’re ready.”
He makes a face at this. “It sounds much less noble when it’s clear you’re mocking me.”
“I’m not mocking you. I think it’s sweet.”
“Sweet,” he repeats, distaste filling the lone syllable.
“Yeah,” she says, smiling at him. “It’s not a side of you I get to see very often. I like it. And I’m all right with waiting, if that’s important to you.”
“Thank you,” he hedges, still sounding suspicious.
She beams and leans in to kiss him, before abruptly pulling back.
“Wait. Is this okay?” she asks. “I wouldn’t want to compromise your discipline by making you feel a—”
Sasuke growls and pulls her toward him, rough but still mindful of her injury. His mouth crushes into hers, working her bottom lip between both of his. There a nip—almost a reprimand, she suspects, for her earlier teasing—and when she opens her mouth in protest, he takes full advantage, his tongue in her mouth, deepening the kiss until she’s whimpering for oxygen.
When he pulls away, he looks only half as dishevelled as she feels.
“I’ve managed for this long,” he tells her, leaning his forehead on hers. “Besides. I know of a few things that can be done which don’t require any kind of nudity.”
The look he gives her can only be described as smouldering, and her mouth goes dry trying to imagine the possibilities.
“But,” he goes on, abruptly pulling away from her, “we’ll have to discuss it some time when we’re not in in a combat situation. Pack up your stuff. We’ll head out in five minutes.”
She gapes at his retreating back, trying to figure out what just happened.
And what he means by knowing ‘a few things’.

Okay so I know I’m far off my rocker with what I’m about to say but I have to say it otherwise I’ll forget or keep thinking about it like crazy.
It’s probably just me but I can’t help but feel like SNS aren’t straight. I can’t help but feel like Naruto could possibly be bi with women preference or don’t realize it. I can’t help but feel like Sasuke might be gay or bi. I don’t want to state it as a fact because we don’t know their sexualities canon wise plus I want to respect the author’s creation however I can’t see those two as straight, especially Sasuke. I understand that Sasuke puts his goals before romance and that may be the case for this. I know he wants to defeat his brother and restore his clan, thats his top priority in life. People say he doesn’t know how to express his emotions, yet I see it fine with Naruto. He seems to trust Naruto more than anything and wants to be with Naruto. He turns down girls, mainly Sakura when it comes to affection or flirtatiousness. Now it could be just that those girls see him as a trophy and Sakura doesn’t understand him or respect him, however even after Boruto when he “marries” Sakura, it seems he’s depressed and regrets the relationship. He visits Naruto’s family more than his own and I find it depressing and interesting because it shows he chooses Naruto over his own “wife”. Even with Karin, he cares about her as a comrade or friend yet I don’t feel romantic attraction on his side. Yet I feel a bit of that with him and Naruto. There was a rumor that the author or creator of Naruto that between Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura isn’t a love triangle but rather a circle like a fish biting its own tail. So Naruto —> Sakura —> Sasuke and Sasuke —> Naruto. Anyways, i know this show isn’t about their sexuality and I shouldn’t focus on that but I couldn’t help but notice something or rather feel it. Also, your post on SNS Sasukes pov, I remember you mentioning Sasuke being comfortable enough to show his vulnerability with Naruto and that had me thinking... is this Sasuke accepting his love for Naruto? Is this Sasuke allowing Naruto to open him and save him. It seems Naruto was the first and only person that made his way to his heart, even expanding it just a little.
That’s just me but I would love to hear what you have to say and correct me if I’m wrong. What do you think?
Nice ask @larrycherry04 😍😍
There was a rumor that the author or creator of Naruto that between Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura isn’t a love triangle but rather a circle like a fish biting its own tail. So Naruto —> Sakura —> Sasuke and Sasuke —> Naruto.
Again larry, there is no official proof for this interview. And if it is so, I don’t really believe any of his interviews, tbh.
Tumblr media
These are the two different official interviews from Shounen Jump at different point of time with Kishimoto and two contradicting answers.
So, when it comes to drawing Manga, Kishi was very truthful. But when it comes to interviews, he started to contradict his own answers. Which makes him a liar, in my opinion and I don’t blame him.
So, In short, Read the manga or Watch the Anime and see how you feel about it and come to a conclusion rather that believing his interviews.
But to answer whether it’s a love circle??? Nope.
Sakura, like I said before, she is a pairing fodder for Sasuke, most of the time and for Naruto, a little bit.
If it is a love circle, like, if Naruto truly loved Sakura, he never should’ve let Sasuke off the hook, for all the tantrums/outbursts he has shown towards Sakura not once or twice but multiple times.
Imagine you are Naruto, you love Sakura so much and values her a lot above everyone.
What would you do in the following scene?
Tumblr media
I seriously can’t stop laughing here. Here, a boy, your supposed rival, is mildly insulting your most valued person’s tears. What will you do?
You will speak on her behalf, Of course. Just like Naruto did.
But the moment your rival says something to you, you forget everything about Sakura and starts to think about your rival. Wellllll ... So weird!!!!! Which begs the question ‘Do you really love her in the first place???’.
In this scene, the moment he heard those words from Sasuke, Sakura was out of the picture. Important point to note, Naruto still had a crush on Sakura until this point.
Moment 1
Sakura: I am going to stab Sasuke-Kun
Sasuke : Am gonna kill you too
**Naruto heroically saves her**
Naruto: Sasuke, Sakura was a member of Team 7.
Sasuke: I don’t give a fuck
Naruto: Anyways, I heard the truth about Itachi and what you’ve been doing so far, is understandable, (including trying to kill Sakura)
Sakura: **surprised pikachu face**
Moment 2
Sakura: I love you, Sasuke-Kun
Sasuke: Annoying!! I am gonna put her in a murdering Genjutsu
Naruto: Sasuke, you shouldn’t have put her in such a strong Genjutsu
Sasuke: If I didn’t , she will come in our way
Naruto: Ummm, that’s true. Let’s go fight!!!
This is the pattern of Team 7 dynamics even until the very end. And I don’t see a love circle at all.
To put it bluntly,
Tumblr media
These words from Naruto is an admonition to Sakura, that is, ‘Whatever happens between us, do not meddle!!’
Sakura is just a third wheel to elevate the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke. Naruto likes her but not more than Sasuke. Naruto will die for Sasuke but not for Sakura. Sasuke will put his life on the line for Naruto but not for Sakura.
Sasuke closed all his walls in his heart to let anyone in, after the massacre. And even before that incident, it was never shown that he had any friends or rather he was frustrated with those boys revering him because of the ‘Uchiha’ name he bears. Uchiha is the powerful clan of Konoha and so everyone has high level of expectations. So, there is that.
Tumblr media
Sasuke was thoroughly frustrated at this comment because nobody is seeing him as a boy named ‘Sasuke’ in his Academy. Even his homeroom teacher saw him as 'Itachi's little brother'. He was clearly facing an identity problem during this time, even in his home. Because Fugaku, Sasuke’s father completely ignored Sasuke and was showing his full attention towards his brother Itachi. When it comes to girls, I don’t have to say anything. They treated him like a trophy. Meaning, Everybody was expecting something from him but nobody was trying to befriend him unconditionally or approach him for who he was.
This was explained nicely by Itachi in Itachi Shinden novel.
Tumblr media
I wish this scene were in the Anime series. Such a warm one.
He was turning down all those girls, because like you said, they just see him as a cool boy who can do anything. And Sakura was one among them.
If Sasuke looked like Rock Lee, would Sakura have flirted with him??? Absolutely not.
And to play romance, there should be certain effort from Sasuke’s side, like going for dates or whatever shit, which he was never ready for. Most of all, there should be a reason when you start a relationship. Sakura never tried to reach him in a deeper level and tried to understand his sufferings and hence there were no reason. This is the case even after their marriage. Does she know about Uchiha Clan massacre's reason? Or Itachi? If she had known, she should've educated her daughter and stopped wearing that fucking clan crest on their back. And most of all, what could Sasuke talk with her if she doesn't know a single thing about him?? Their relationship was built on Editorial pressure, regrets and shallowness. Of course, If I were Sasuke, I would avoid my family by staying in my office more.
With Karin, their relationship was purely business 'I use you, you use me' kind. He was very clear about that when he formed 'Team Hebi'.
Tumblr media
He helped Suigetsu to get Zabuza's sword and in turn Sasuke wants him to help with his goal. Same with Karin & Jugo. But it seems Sasuke respected her a lot in terms of her strength. Karin was similar to Sakura when it comes to flirting but when it comes to work she means business and can offer Sasuke a lot in terms of Chakra replenishment or sensing enemies plan while battling. That's why he treated her better than Sakura but that's all there is to it. It never went anywhere because Karin knows nothing about him. And Sasuke was not interested in forming a bond with any of Team Taka members either.
In other words, to evolve from a friendship to romance, it takes a massive effort from both sides in terms of understanding. Like I said before, Sasuke built a strong wall around his heart and he never let anyone in it as he saw it as a weakness. Sakura barely made a scratch on that wall. Just for becoming a friend takes a big effort to break that wall. How much effort do you think it takes for romance?? Instead of becoming his friend first, Sakura jumped straight into romance, which makes Sasuke uncomfortable most of the times. Hence the depressed reaction you see in Boruto.
Even with Karin, he cares about her as a comrade or friend yet I don’t feel romantic attraction on his side. Yet I feel a bit of that with him and Naruto.
Hmmm, I don't see Sasuke having a romantic attraction with Naruto. Romantic attraction leans towards sexual desire. But, Sasuke has more of a childlike attraction which leans towards purity and innocence, like more of a desire to be near Naruto, will never be bored even if it was for eternity and would like to look after his safety without expecting anything back.
I've seen this quite a few times.
Tumblr media
Sasuke is not competing here, otherwise he would have walked ahead Naruto. He just wants to walk along side him.
Tumblr media
This is that dream sequence after their fight. Sasuke, just like before, approaches Naruto by himself and listens to him intently. I am pretty sure he could do this for a whole day and still would not leave him.
Tumblr media
LOL. Sasuke, at this moment, doesn’t gives two shit about the world. Meaning he is not missing anyone from there. The person he really wants to be with is right next to him. He even convinces Naruto that Kakashi and Sakura will do something and he doesn’t have to worry. However the moment Naruto leaves, he worries and looks around for him.
This is what I called, an innocent attraction and the desire to be around the person you feel warm and comfortable.
But every possibility of changing this into romance is already there. Because Naruto broke his wall long back and has a high place in his heart. A strong friendship with an innocent attraction is all there. If someday Kishi comes out and said 'Sasuke loved Naruto', I won't be surprised at all.
Sasuke being comfortable enough to show his vulnerability with Naruto and that had me thinking... is this Sasuke accepting his love for Naruto? Is this Sasuke allowing Naruto to open him and save him. It seems Naruto was the first and only person that made his way to his heart, even expanding it just a little.
I think Sasuke started to like Naruto unknowingly ever since he started to watch him secretly. Because it always makes him feel warm and fuzzy.
Tumblr media
But, the scars left by Itachi made Sasuke feel that having people around will always makes him weak. Meaning, The more people you love and when you lose them, you will feel weak. Hence, he was very hesitant to reach Naruto. Slowly but surely, Naruto was already making his way into Sasuke’s heart. And once they were put in the same team, he just loved Naruto unconditionally. That’s why he almost gave his life for him.
But Once Sasuke decided to leave the village, he severed all the ties with Konoha, including Kakashi and Sakura. The level of bond Sasuke had with them can be cut off by saying ‘Thank you’. But with Naruto, it takes more than that. Because for Sasuke, Naruto’s existence itself is making him weak by bringing back all the feelings he once had for him. Like Orochimaru said, Naruto has certain power to influence Sasuke’s heart. So Sasuke decided to kill him but in the end he simply couldn’t.
Everytime Sasuke strays off the path, Naruto will always appear and remind him that he is his friend
Tumblr media
Every time Naruto appears and talks to him, Sasuke’s heart was changing but he simply doesn’t want that and he hates that feeling. Which was why he wants to destroy Naruto and whatever he represents. What Naruto represents is a powerful bond between Sasuke and Naruto.
In the final fight, he simply couldn’t cut that bond even though he had a chance to kill. These bipolar battles are what he was fighting all along internally. And finally accepts that he lost and was happy for it. Those words, ‘I lost’ meant he lost the fight physically and mentally he had with Naruto and was ready to totally embrace the feelings he already had.
It’s not Naruto who was expanding Sasuke’s heart a little, Sasuke already gave a wide berth for Naruto and one day decided to close it. In the end, he couldn’t.
As for their sexualities, I seriously could not conclude anything. But from the way Naruto behaves, he certainly looks like a closeted bisexual just like Kishimoto. And Kishi was not hold his guns in this aspect at all, he went all out in the Manga chapter 347.
Tumblr media
I mean it was evident from the way he casted Multiple Reverse Harem no jutsu before Kaguya without any reaction but when Konohamaru did the same Jutsu with Sai and Sasuke, he looked visibly disgusted.
Tumblr media
Why to react extremely when Konohamaru is doing the same as you? Probably he doesnt like Sasuke in this jutsu I guess. LOL.
Tumblr media
When asked about that ‘accidental’ kiss again, he reacts visibly disgusted but at the same time with a Nosebleed. This screams ‘Closet bisexual’ to me.
As for Sasuke, I simply see him as close to Asexual and possibly demisexual for Naruto.
Why Asexual?
Because Kishi purposefully made Sasuke to be in certain awkward scenes and on top of it, he painted an over sexualized aura all over him, in part II of the manga. It was evident from his bare chested costumes and the way characters like Karin behaves around him. In the same chapter 347, Kishi went all out for Sasuke too.
Tumblr media
I don’t even know why Kishi made this scene. But it certainly shows Sasuke wasn’t bothered by a naked man at all unlike Naruto who acted disgusted.
I simply cannot see Sasuke will be romantically attracted to someone if they cannot form a strong bond with him. And to form that kind of bond is not an easy task. But even for a demisexual, there will be a preference. and his preference were not any of those girls especially Sakura. So, I can safely say, if he ever wants to be romantic, all the possibilities points towards Naruto. Because of certain obsession he has towards Naruto throughout the War arc.
Believe me, Obsession comes from two ways. You will be obsessed on someone whom you hate to your bone because of what they did to you. Most possibly, a hard betrayal. Or, You will be obsessed on someone who you love above yourself.
Itachi falls under the first category (that’s why when Sasuke was told Itachi was good all along, he couldn’t accept the fact that he hated him for wrong reasons and he snapped and went onto a killing spree because of that obsession. Even though he was sane after losing his parents) and Naruto falls in the later.
Like he was basically saying ‘Naruto is my person. Only I can kill him, he is not yours’ to Obito when he was trying to kill Naruto. And where did these obsession comes from provided Naruto never betrayed him in any which ways? Because of all the past he had with him and he was already in love but was trying to deny it.
Anyways at the end of the day, I don’t mind their sexualities at all. What matters is how they prioritizes each other at any given situations without an ounce of regrets. Because, like I always say, their bond transcends way beyond Marriage, Children and Sex.
Hope my answer helps :-)

THE GREAT CRUNCHYROLL NARUTO REWATCH Meets New Characters And Rallies Around Rock Lee
Welcome back to the GREAT CRUNCHYROLL NARUTO REWATCH! I'm Carolyn, and I'll be your host this week as we make our way through all 220 episodes of the original Naruto. Last week, we covered episodes 43-49, and we continue this week with episodes 50-56.
Let's be honest, I like me some good pathos. While the exams are definitely one of my favorite arcs in this series, I can't help but be drawn into the aftermath of the one-on-one tournaments. Especially poor Rock Lee's physical devastation that he's still somehow determined to overcome. The gut-wrenching stuff is the stuff that really gets me. Anyway, enough of that.
Let's get on with what really matters... you. Or in this case, reader WiseJake237, with a good question about Rock Lee and chakra!
Yeah, the Rock Lee vs. Gaara fight is really cool, but one thing's got me confused. If Lee can only use Taijutsu, how is he able to master the forbidden art of opening the gates that control chakra flow? Doesn't controlling chakra fall under the category of Ninjutsu?
Nate: I think the difference is that Ninjutsu molds chakra to create something, like a spell--Sasuke molds chakra to do a fire jutsu, for example, while Lee is just actively releasing chakra in his body to power it up. He's not actively using it as much as he's channeling it, but that's just my take on it.
OK, let's see how the Crunchyroll Features team is holding up after this week's episodes!
Naruto has taken to saying his signature catchphrase “Believe it!" a bit less. Do you miss it?
Kara: He still -dattebayo’s a little at the end once in a while, but yeah. I wasn’t sure if it was just me noticing it less or if Naruto really was saying it less. I don’t really miss it so much, but that could be because it achieved joke status in my circles so quickly.
Joseph: I feel like he’s doing his little vocal tic just as much as ever, they just don’t always bother giving it the “believe it” flavor in the subs.
  Peter: I didn’t even notice.
Paul: I think Naruto's still doing his “-dattebayo” speech affectation about as much as usual, but he has fewer lines in this batch of episodes, because they focus more on the supporting characters.
Jared: I feel like I still heard it here and there, but it wasn’t enough to make me think it wasn’t as frequent, so I guess I really didn’t miss it much.
Danni: It’s always felt like an awkward addition, so I don’t miss it, honestly.
Kevin: Honestly, since I’m watching this subbed, I only occasionally caught the “dattebayo” anyway, so him not saying it as much really doesn’t make a difference to me.
Naruto has come face-to-face with the Nine-Tailed Fox and that thing is terrifying. How do you think this event will change/shape Naruto’s journey to becoming Hokage?
Kara: This is seriously exciting! I’ve been waiting to see how that comes into play. So far, Naruto has had to learn to exert discipline over his own impulses and personality. He’s doing a lot better than he was but, you know… Naruto is still Naruto. Now he’s going to have to do the same with something that’s a lot bigger and scarier than anything about him personally. I’m interested to see how taming the Nine-Tailed Fox helps him discipline himself.
Joseph: This is a really big event, and while I don’t know that it was handled as expertly as it could have been, the Nine-Tailed Fox is an appropriately intimidating entity. Also, tick the box, because pushing Naruto in this direction is the first cool thing Jiraiya has done.
Peter: I always thought Kishimoto steamrolled what I thought would be a huge revelation for Naruto. He discovered the reason he was ostracized as a child was he had a literal demon sealed inside him and didn’t even bother investigating it? I suppose it changes nothing but it probably wouldn’t have taken too much effort to discover who his father was after that. He kind of doesn’t even interface with it despite going kyubi several times until the finale of this stretches final episode.
Paul: Personally, I think Megumi Hayashibara's turn as Hakumen no Mono in Ushio and Tora is the scariest incarnation of a nine-tailed fox that I've seen in anime, but Tessho Genda's take in Naruto is a close second. I love that Naruto's reaction is to belligerently demand that the fox fork over some Chakra, like he's a deadbeat roommate living in Naruto's body. As for the final question, Naruto becomes Hokage? OMG! Spoilers!
Jared: I’m real curious to see just how much of a power boost this gives him initially and how that’ll help him in the final bits of the chunin exams. I also liked how he just didn’t back down from it which earlier Naruto might have done.
Danni: I expected a multi-episode stretch where Naruto literally has to fight his inner demon to earn his power, so I was pleasantly surprised to find his inner demon is just kind of a deadbeat roommate finally forking over all the rent money he owes.
Kevin: *Looks ahead to Shippuden* Uhh… I plead the Fifth on the grounds that I legitimately don’t want to spoil what happens.
David: While I too know from experience how this plays out, I wanted to point out that its placement in the story is pretty perfect as a mirror or counter of sorts to Sasuke’s own internal power issues. It’s going to be interesting to see how differently they each handle their newly discovered powers.
So … we’ve met Jiraiya and he’s really something, isn’t he? If this is your first introduction to the Pervy Sage, what are your thoughts on him so far? If you know how Jiraiya turns out, how do you feel about this introduction?
Kara: So I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned this before, but years ago I messed around with the old Billy vs. Snakeman game on Anime Cubed. That started out with Naruto one-offs but eventually brought in Bleach and Death Note and a lot of other stuff. So whenever I see a new character, I immediately think of their BvS counterpart—which means I only think of the comical view of them. It was really cool seeing that Jiraiya is actually kind of a badass, and but for one thing, I would 100% name him New Favorite Character.
Joseph: I have all the cool stuff he does later in my head, so I forgot what a dip Jiraiya was in the beginning. What a dopey introduction for a cool character. I thought Naruto already had pervy dudes in it but I guess they didn’t have the ultimate requisite perv sage yet.
Peter: I completely forgot how bad he was. I guess I didn’t think about it much back in high school when I first watched Naruto but man Jiraiya really sucks. Tsunade was the only good to come of that squad.
Paul: If I could go the rest of my life without encountering another example of the Shonen Jump “perv” character creeping on girls from the bushes, I would be able to die with no regrets, fist raised to the Heavens, Raoh from Fist of the North Star-style.
Jared: They really wanted to nail down and beat you over the head with the fact that Jiraiya is a skeevy dude and leers at women constantly. I hope what everyone’s saying that he becomes better is true because oof, that was a bad first impression.
Danni: He’s just Roshi for a new generation of Jump readers, and like Roshi the only thing about him I like is his big animal friend.
Kevin: I am part of the group that has seen the show before, and this introduction really doesn’t do Jiraiya service. He’s awesome and is actually really important to the overall backstory of the world, but this paints him as just a pervert who is experienced enough to teach Naruto, and seems to have a bit of backstory that we don’t know yet.
David: Jiraiya, as he is right now, isn’t a very likable character in my opinion. If I remember correctly, he does get more interesting and fun to watch later, but I wouldn’t blame anyone for coming out of this introduction with a bad taste in their mouths. Compare to Kakashi, who reads questionable material out in the open but isn’t quite such a creep.
Speaking of Pervy Sages, the Sexy Jutsu is back in full force. Is that killing this part of the story for you? It feels quite creepy seeing Jiraiya constantly ogling his underage student.
Kara: Yeah. That’s the one thing that stops me from naming him New Favorite Character. It doesn’t kill this part of the story, entirely, but it does shake me out of it temporarily. I understand it’s meant to be funny, but wow no. Stop. Please.
Joseph: It’s 100% clear that Jiraiya is like three bushes away from being concealed enough from the public eye to have sex with Naruto in Sexy Jutsu form. It’s a bad gag.
  Peter: Oof.
Paul: Blargh. I like the idea of three legendary ninja that are so strong that they basically answer to no one except themselves. It reminds me of the Seven Warlords and the Four Emperors from One Piece, and how their presence (or absence) can completely tilt the political balance and set world-shaking events in motion. I just wish it wasn't wrapped up in a package like Jiraiya as he's currently presented.
Jared: Ban sexy jutsu and ban Jiraiya doing this.
Danni: I hate the frog man.
Kevin: Can’t say I disagree. Honestly, most of the time I’m not too upset about the Sexy Jutsu, since generally, it is either on screen for a short time or Naruto is using it in a surprisingly strategic way, but the scenes with Jiraiya are where it got legitimately uncomfortable at times, as the middle-aged man gets a nosebleed from someone he explicitly knows is a 12-year-old boy who just looks female (and decidedly not 12) for the moment.
David: The only blessing here is that there is a pretty large gap between times when Sexy Jutsu rears its ugly head.
Man, Rock Lee, you guys. Given how much everyone has loved him over the past couple weeks, how are you all holding up watching his brutal, emotional journey?
Kara: ROCK LEE DESERVES BETTER. That said, I was kind of surprised to see that the show didn’t immediately reward “hard work and guts,” but instead chose to show actual consequences for using a killer move.
Joseph: It’s a bummer of an ending to Rock Lee’s battle, but I kind of love that about it. Rather than giving him a victoriously explosive finale, Kishimoto totally ripped him up and put him back further than square one. With that said, please get well soon, Lee, we love you.
Peter: Sakura’s line at the end really killed the scene for me, kind of implying neither girl has even attempted to work as hard, not just Rock Lee, but any of the boys in the cast. I really like Rock. I’m not sure if he ever really gets a narrative pay-off but both Kishimoto and Pierrot love to show off his power so in that way he gets a lot more than similar characters like Chad.
Paul: If you'll pardon the pro-wrestling reference, Rock Lee is clearly the Mick Foley of Naruto, in that everybody loves him yet his most famous matches tend to involve him getting his ass royally kicked. I don't like to see Lee suffer like this, but I also know that, on the meta-textual level, there was no way in heck he was going to beat Gaara. That's just not how these kinds of story arcs are written.
Jared: The Rock Lee comeback tour starts now. I’m even more curious to see where they go with him as the guy who tried his hardest and still came up short, so where mentally does he go from here. Even if he wasn’t able to beat Gaara, he’s still a winner in my heart.
Danni: I really, really wanted him to win, but I’m at least satisfied with how he lost. He fought to the bitter end, past the brink of consciousness. I have a sneaking suspicion his ninja days aren’t over yet.
Kevin: This is largely why I think people love Lee so much. Sure, you got to see him grow in power immensely during his fight, but he really endears himself to the audience by not giving up on his dreams, even when literally everyone is telling him that there is no hope of achieving them.
David: Always, always a fan of when stories get you excited about a character, have them lose or fail in some way, yet manage to only leverage that to make you like them even more. Rock Lee is a huge winner in that area.
And on that note, the one-on-one battle portion of the exams was a popular arc. Is this new arc jarring? Is it a welcome change? How are you all adjusting to the post-exam arc?
Kara: I loved the battles so much, and I loved finally getting to meet a lot of these other characters. But after all that, I really am kind of ready to bring it back down to our protagonist again. Unlike the bit before the Chunin Exam, though, I feel like this period of time is letting us see the growth of the characters and letting those events take hold more permanently. Like, even Ino and Sakura are showing growth in their friendship.
Joseph: With just a couple post-battle episodes, I haven’t quite settled in yet. I’m completely fine with some downtime, though. Naruto is generally pretty good at its peaks and valleys.
Peter: I forgot they got an entire month. This is where my perception of time got really messed up because I felt like Sasuke Retrieval was right after Chunin Exams. Wasn’t even sure whether Naruto learned his super move before the last stretch. Seems like a huge amount of time considering there are supposed to be a ton of diplomats in town ready to watch the event.
Paul: After all of the intense combat of the Forest of Death and the preliminary matches, I liked that they took some time to focus on everyone training for The Final Test. I liked the idea that Naruto has been brute-forcing his away along while relying on his superhuman stamina, and I liked that the focus of his training involves Naruto learning how to manipulate his Chakra with finesse. We also get a glimpse at the bigger picture, with the various Villages plotting intrigues against one another. It's a welcome change of pace.
Jared: The way the show has been moving at such a rapid pace with the Forest of Death and all the fights, there needed to be some downtime. After coming off the highs of those last few fights, it did feel somewhat like the show slammed the brakes, but that hasn’t wavered my anticipation of the final parts of this arc.
Danni: It hasn’t been as jarring as I thought it might be. I tend to like one-on-one training arcs that really lean into a character’s strengths and weaknesses, teaching them how to make use of both. I didn’t think Naruto would ever use a summoning jutsu, so I’m eager to see him ride some big frogs in the future. Again, though, why Jiraiya???
Kevin: In short, I wish that the preliminaries hadn’t happened. Just cut out the prelims, change nothing else, and then add in the prelim fights as the first round of the main third Exam. This month of downtime is great for introducing new mentors and getting the Genin to have new abilities, but it really doesn’t work well when it comes between two sets of 1-on-1 fights with high emotional stakes.
David: Honestly, it mostly just seems weird that they would put such a huge gap in what’s essentially the middle of an exam. Imagine taking a test, you get two-thirds in, and then your professor tells everyone to go home and study some more for the last part. Bizarre.
As always, high points and low points. What you got?
Kara: High point, absolutely where we left off, with Naruto finally confronting the Nine-Tailed Fox. Close second being my perfect son Rock Lee still trying to train even while in multiple casts. Low point is any and all Sexy Jutsus, and this probably won’t change.
Joseph: Low point: Jiraiya’s introduction and almost every scene he’s in here. High point: Naruto’s attempts to use summoning jutsu resulting in increasingly less tiny frog children.
Peter: Low point was Jiraiya. High point Naruto confronting his inner demon. Pretty straightforward this time.
Paul: High point: Choji Akimichi finally getting to eat some BBQ, which is a welcome reward after he got completely punked in his preliminary match. Low point: Jiraiya.
Jared: Low point was all the sexy jutsu and Jiraiya being Jiraiya. High point would be Rock Lee continuing to be the best even when he’s hurt and Naruto finally facing off against the Nine-Tailed Fox.
Danni: High point was seeing everyone acknowledge Rock Lee even in his defeat. I don’t really have a low point this time around ha ha just kidding it’s Jiraiya.
Kevin: High Point: I know that it started in last week’s episodes, but I will always love Lee’s fight, and I absolutely adore the Eight Inner Gates as a concept. The only thing that can content with it for top moment is Lee doing push ups outside the hospital, due to the sheer emotional weight of the scene. Low Point: Worst moment is probably the first time that Jiraiya sees Naruto’s Sexy Jutsu, for reasons discussed above. Other Point: As for another moment I want to shout out: Everything to do with Naruto’s seal and chakra control. Sure, we’ve seen him as a screw up throughout much of the series, but when he is serious about training, he can honestly learn and grow very quickly. We’re also getting the first steps of controlling the Kyubei’s chakra, which will have major impacts to the latter part of the series.
David: Agreed with this set being straightforward. High point is Rock Lee’s everything, low point is Jiraiya’s poor introduction.
