I wish I could explain things coherently!! I saw a tiktok the other day about an au where Marinette’s parents find out about her identity after she dies during an akuma attack and the news reports it live

And the part that really got to me, the part I found haunting, wasn’t her parents’ reaction, but the words on the tv that said something like “Marinette Dupen-Chang, 14 year old superhero”

And I can’t fully explain why, because there’s a lot of media about 14 year old superheroes (I mean, Danny’s half dead and 14 and none of the fan stuff that focuses on that affected me as much), but I think it might be the juxtaposition? Like, usually when identities are found out, everyone is horrified by the age

But there’s this news broadcast, revealing her identity after everyone watched her get killed on live tv, and they didn’t put “14 year old child” or “14 year old school student”, they put “14 year old superhero”

Like it was her job, and it was expected, and it was unavoidable, not at all like they were horrified to find out her age, these are just facts, her name was Marinette, she was 14, she was their superhero, and she’s dead now

a post I absolutely hate to make but I am in the trenches. I recently had a fall which aggravated an already miserable chronic pain issue and had me in and out of the emergency room. I currently live paycheck to paycheck so missing even a day of work unfortunately causes a huge financial burden.

This is the current state of my bank account. Everything in savings has to go to rent which is due on the first. My car insurance payment of 210 dollars was due on the 23rd which I asked to pay on the 27th, but then ended up missing work to be in the hospital on 10/19 and 10/20 so my paycheck was 380 dollars today. I ended up back in the emergency room on 10/25 which means my check on 11/03 will be short as well and rent(1400) and my phone bill(200)will need to come out as well🫠

I have no talents to offer in return but I would be eternally grateful even just for a reblog

I just read your x reader post (and the anon response to it) and good Lord you are right. I read your whole rant and I felt it in my bones!!

I've been in this damn app for over 10 years, and written for almost as many fandoms, and I'll say that the x reader tag has NEVER been this bad. It's not just st, it's nearly all of the ones I've seen and it's just gone down hill. It's really so fucking sad.

I was huge in the SVU fandom, and there were So! Many! Writers! We all reblogged eachothers fics and not everything had to be about sex to get notes! We LOVED when reader kissed the character for the first time because we understood that it was the yearning, the 'Oh God finally I'm having you' and not all about just fucking! God now even the most hastly written, shitty smut gets thousands of notes just because it's smut. It's so fucking disheartening. I've written a few things for st (one of which is the piece I'm most proud of, ever) and it got like, 100 notes on here. That's it, but I swear some 'popular' writers get so much traction just because they write smut poorly.

And not to sound like a boomer (cause I'm not a SWEAR) but the tik tok-ification of fandom and fanfic is ruining it! The lack of reading comprehension, the fact that reader has to be as description-less as possible or else "its not realalistic, I'd never do that, etc etc" makes me wanna rip my skin off. Fanfic used to be an outlet for so many people but the way its treated now makes it near unbearable.

i’m not pointing fingers but yes i know a couple blogs that get HYPED because they both A) write smut constantly and B) write fast. and isn’t that just such a kicker if you can’t and don’t want to do those things? like even though it means nothing, there is no correlation between writing slow = bad writing, this site reflects that SO much because they never give that shit the notes it deserves

To be frank I wouldn’t be where I am right now, if not TSPcc: I would’ve never stuck with The Stanley Parable for as long as I did, never could’ve met so many wonderful creative people (many of whom are my friends right now)

+the server kick-started my recognition as a creator

For that I’m thankful and still look back at this part of my life with a warm smile

But nothing can last forever

(god I’m saying it like something horrible happened, which is not the case)

Basically

The reasons are mostly the same as why I left the TNP fic*: I’m not active on the server + most of my friends left from there

(*TNP - The Narrative Parable fanfic – a collaborative project involving many other creators and narrators)

So um yea, this might not be enough of a reason

Creeps are not a fandom’s problem, creeps are just a problem.

And if people don’t want to address those situations: do not harass them with questions. If people want to address their experience or thoughts, they will. If they don’t want to start drama/don’t feel comfortable/just simply don’t want to - you should respect their decision. No person is obligated to report anything to the crowd.

i have a quick pandemonium question. absolutely zero pressure to answer because i know a lot of authors (me included lmao) like to keep this secret to add to The Experience, but i was wondering — if you are comfortable — if you’d be willing to reveal whether or not jegulus is safe from the mcd tag? i saw the mcd accompanied by the “angst with a happy ending” tag and jegulus as the main pairing, and i know angst with a happy ending can mean different things to different people, so i was curious whether or not them staying alive/together contributed to it.

once again i wanna emphasize that there’s zero pressure on my end for you to answer, and i completely understand and respect your decision regardless. i just think pandemonium is such a fucking amazing concept (especially as a lover of trans regulus and trans mpreg rep!! and a fellow writer who wants to explore being trans in an apocalypse because WOW what would that entail), and following along with wips/theorizing about the unknown as a fic is being published is something i love so much about fandom, but i am in fact one of those wimps who can’t handle mcd unless it’s temporary.

i dont feel like revealing who survives/who doesn't for the sake of immersion as u mentioned! the fun bit of zombie apocalypse/high stakes fics is the fact you're kept on your toes and truly worry for the character's wellbeing. i am, admittedly, still thinking about whether to add the tag regarding jegulus (or one of them maybe even) survives or not. and indeed, 'happy ending' is open to multiple interpretations so i might have to rephrase it as well........

The thing is, I was getting pretty good engagement with kudos and some amazing comments etc. It’s been extremely obvious right from the start that it’s a blatant sickfic, the tags make it extremely clear, tagged as emeto etc etc

This is the second chapter that’s had actual emeto in, and I feel like it’s slightly more descriptive and graphic in this chapter than the last. As in, there is three lots of puking, it’s kinda centric to the chapter.

I posted this chapter, and suddenly… nothing. Barely any kudos and like two comments that were kinda weird and I didn’t know whether were good or not.

It sounds ungrateful but it’s not that at all. I’m not doing this for attention or “likes” but it’s kinda got in my head and made me really insecure, like the reason that it’s suddenly all gone really quiet is because my readers and people in this fandom are suddenly weirded out and grossed out by my writing. I know there have been a couple people who explicitly said they loved my fic as they are sick *this character* enjoyers and there’s absolutely no sickfic content in the fandom at all apart from me. But like, have I gone too far? Do people think it’s too much, too gross, have I weirded out the fandom?

I know it shouldn’t matter. If I was writing really graphic and pornographic smut, that wouldn’t matter. It doesn’t appeal to everyone, I personally don’t read it but like, writing that kinda thing really graphically is very accepted and normal. My emeto wasn’t even that graphic, just like, a standard sickfic amount. I’d like to think that the descriptions of vomiting weren’t like too explicit to be intolerable to someone who wasn’t explicitly into that. I do try and make my fics enjoyable as a whole and not just like pure emeto porn.

The insecurity of thinking that people now don’t like my fic anymore because it got too emeto and too graphic sickfic for them is just triggering a whole load of trauma and shame from the kink shaming I went through and I just can’t write anything and tbh I don’t want to update the fic anymore either even though I finished writing it months ago

Anyway this is just kinda a ramble but in case anyone is interested in reading it whether you’re in the fandom or not, I’ll link it anyway. I’m really not fishing for compliments, it just makes me sad that I’ve scared people away with too much emeto lol and they think I’m a psycho or something, but emeto is all I wanna write 😭

idk if you’ve read these or any yet, so they might seem kinda basic. they’re just to introduce you to this world/the characters. i wish i had a list like this when i first got into the marauders fandom ngl

also these are only gonna be marauders era fics, if you want golden trio era fics as well, i can give you some!

anyway:

all the young dudes by mskingbean89 (completed, 527k words, wolfstar & jily): this is THE marauders fic for most ppl, and i just think of it as what happened canonically. no fic is perfect, but this should be every1’s first marauders era fic imo (you might’ve read this already cuz it’s SO popular). its from remus’ pov and it follows him throughout hogwarts and until (i think) poa or ootp

the wolf’s tail by myheadsgonenumb (wip, 457k words, no ships yet but prob wolfstar & jily): this one’s pretty underrated imo, and it’s SO WELL WRITTEN!!! this also follows remus throughout hogwarts. however id say the diff between this and atyd is that (so far at least) it focuses more on the war side of the marauders era, even when they are still young and at hogwarts. so if you’re interested in how actually dark and dangerous the times were back then, even for children, you will like this one! the only thing ill say for this is that its kinda very descriptive at points (ex. there’s a lot of newspaper clippings, book quotes, interview transcripts etc) but you can just gloss over them if you think they’re not that important. rn i think their 5th year just started, so keep that in mind (its gonna be a long one)!

the cadence of part-time poets by motswolo (completed, 980k words, wolfstar & jily): AAAAAAHHHH this one is my ALL TIME FAV (marauders era) FIC <33333 this is a muggle au, so no magic! this is also a remus pov (😭) and he goes to hawkings (which is basically hogwarts) in his (i think??) 4th year? or younger? smt like that :,). this fic also has my fav oc (tomny) hehe. as the tags say, its a band fic/au, but i’ll spoil no more!

the making of the map by fox_pitch (completed, 79k words, wolfstar & jily): this is a shorter one, but its also rlyyy good. pretty sure this starts and ends in their sixth year, but as the title suggests, its how the marauders map come to exist! its also how wolfstar gets together and its very cute and wholesome. the ending is kinda ambiguous in the sense that it doesn’t give any hints as to if anything changes in this fic’s universe’s future, but id assume not.

choices by messermoon (completed, 624k words, jegulus, wolfstar & jily): i kinda assumed you wanted the “canon” ships (aka jily and wolfstar) but if you’re interested in jegulus (james potter/regulus black) then this one is prob for you. i personally haven’t finished this fic, but ik its a jegulus classic/canon, just like atyd is for jily (& wolfstar). this one follows james, and it doesn’t start on his first year i think. it has alternating povs as well! however, as the tags warn, it is canon compliant, aka reg dies in the end, so do w that what you will :,)

only the brave by solmussa (completed, 646k words, jegulus, wolfstar, dorlene, rosekiller & pandalily): this is another jegulus fic! it has started being considered a classic and if you read it, you’ll understand why. this also does not start from their first year, and this one also has alternating povs! i love the writing and just general concept/plot of this one; i don’t love jegulus but i was still HOOKED w this fic, so yes. its rly good. and as you can see w the tags, this is a happy ending (aka, reg lives)!!!!! mwah love those.

art heist, baby! by otrbs (completed, 219k words, jegulus, wolfstar, dorlene, alice/frank longbottom - idk their ship name): i also have not read this fic, but ive only heard good things about it (and some sobs but that’s what you get for “major character death” : ) )! i know the ending of it tho, and it is kinda sad, so prepare yourself. it is a muggle au, and they basically wanna pull an art heist? yup lets go w that simple explanation.
