If there was anything Konoha did best, it was celebrating.
Compared to many of the other villages, the Leaf had some form of a festival almost every month. The first Sakura trees have blossomed? Celebration. The war is won? Celebration. The Hokage has a birthday? Celebration. 6 months without any outside threats? Celebration.
For the outsiders these constant festivities were both bizzare and a bit foolish. They could only imagine how much money were spend from the yearly budget, yet somehow the village blossomed economically. The other Kages tried to ask Lady Tsunade more than once in the past how exactly do they manage to do that, but they could never get anything more than a smug smile from her.
You, unlike your husband, loved a good party. During events like this everything felt different - the people were happier, the streets were busier, even the air felt more fresh! You have been waiting for the Spring festival for a while now - not only because you loved trying all the delicious street food, but also because this year you were taking your baby with you.
Being only a few months old, your son was an exact copy of Kakashi. His hair, his eyes, his nose, his lips, even the way he pouted was absolutely the same as your partner. There were times when you sat next to his crib, looking at him for hours, trying to find at least one thing in his appearance that he may took after you. While there were none, you found solace in the fact that he showed at least some traits of your personality - the main one being obsessed with Kakashi, of course.
As you watched your husband gently rocking your child in his arms and whispering sweet words to him, you couldn't stop the smile from spreading wide on your lips. Kakashi hasn't noticed your presence by the door yet, too busy booping your baby's nose and listening to his happy laughter.
He was definitely the favourite parent.
"I can't believe I carried him for nine months and I am still the second best in his eyes", you finally said, making Kakashi whip his head in the direction of your voice. He smiled sheepishly at you, his one free arm extending for you to take.
"You know that is not true, my dove", he tried to reassure you, his attention moving back to the bundle of joy who kept twitching in his grip, "No one can replace mommy! Isn’t that right, little man?"
Almost if understanding his words, the baby turned toward you, reaching one of his small hands toward your face. You immediately melted at the gesture, before carefully grabbing it in yours and lying numerous small kisses on his little fingers.
“Do we really have to go?”, your husband groaned, looking at you pleadingly. If it was up to him the three of you would stay in your house, enjoying a cosy evening just playing and goofing around the living room. With his new role as a Hokage, your time together was limited anyway and he liked to grab any chance he got to spend a few hours with you at home.
“You were the one that promised Naruto you would finally let him see the baby”, you cocked one of your eyebrows and Kakashi immediately shut his mouth, knowing he cannot argue further.
Even since you told Team 7 that you are pregnant, Naruto has shown an enormous enthusiasm about welcoming the baby. He self proclaimed himself “the best uncle to ever exist” and has bought dozen of plush toys and clothes before you even found what the gender is. Both you and Kakashi found this amusing, yet cute, promising him that he would be one of the first people to see your son once he is born.
However, things didn't go as planned and since he was on a mission outside Konoha for the last three months and a half, Naruto was now one of the last people to meet your child. Sakura has asked you countless of times during this period to let her and Sasuke come to your house, but feeling it was unfair to Naruto, you refused every single time.
Now that the blonde was back, however, all three were eagerly waiting to meet the young Hatake.
Kakashi gently passed you the baby, while he went to the corridor to grab the baby carrier wrap he liked to use. One thing about your husband was that he absolutely refused to use a pram.
"It is safer for them to be close to me", he often said, not even hiding his overprotectiveness. Despite your baby already being the village's favourite, he only allowed people to watch him, but never touch him or hold him. It was almost like your son was some kind of a rare jewel, which was so delicate, it had to be admired from a far. And while you found Kakashi's behaviour funny, he was being very serious about it, going as far as to glare and hiss a warning at Guy and Genma every time they tried to pinch your baby's chubby cheeks.
Once the little one was safely wrapped against your partner, you both made your way toward the village centre, where you could already hear music sounding. The streets were flooded with both adults and children, who were all eager to try some foreign food and watch special performances. Every year there were entertainers coming from different lands, performing traditional songs and dances from their cultures. While you knew you couldn't stay for all of them, since you had to put your child to bed quite early, you were excited to see at least some.
You felt one of Kakashi's arms wrapping around your waist, pulling you closer to him, while he shielded your son's body with the other one. While there were none real threats or risk for any of you, the amount of people made the man anxious. You were just about to grab his hand and try to make him relax, when Naruto's loud voice sounded from somewhere in front of you.
"Kakashi-sensei! Y/N! Over here!", he waved his hands energetically in the air, while both Sasuke and Sakura looked away embarrassed from his behaviour. Your smiled at the blonde, waving back, while your husband couldn't do anything else than let out a sigh.
Once you were a few meters away, the Uzumaki ran toward you, his whole face lighting up once his eyes met those of your son. He pushed past you, without even paying any attention to you, before leaning his head close to the baby's.
" Kakashi! That's your twin, dattebayo!", he shouted and moved his finger between his sensei and your son. Kakashi flicked his hand away, glaring harshly at his student. You sniffled a laugh, before you felt Sakura's hand on your shoulder. Turning around, you offered a smile to both her and Sasuke.
"Don't touch, step back and only watch from a distance", Kakashi instructed, his eyes narrowing at Naruto. The blonde, however, didn't acknowledge his words in any way, instead turning toward you.
"Can I hold him?", he asked, his blue eyes sparkling.
"No!", Kakashi immediately answered for you and you rolled your eyes at your husband, before moving toward the males.
"Of course you can!", before your husband can protest, you gave him a stare and he reluctantly picked up your son from the carrier wrap. He held him in his hands for a few more seconds, eyeing Naruto with suspicion.
"Be very, very, VERY careful!", he said, while passing the wriggling baby to the boy's stretched out arms, "And make sure to support his head! No, not like that... Naruto, I swear to Kami-"
You cut off the white haired male's rambling by wrapping your arm around his waist and placing your head against his shoulder. The Uzumaki was doing just fine, but Kakashi being Kakashi started to panic just at sight of someone else holding your little treasure.
The baby seemed to like the blonde, as he giggled, stretching his small hand toward his face. Sakura, who has been patiently waiting for her sensei to relax a bit, immediately rushed to her teammate's side, uncapable of controlling herself longer. She wriggled her forefinger in front of the child's face, her heart melting once he caught it.
"Hello, little one! I am auntie Sakura!", the baby grinned at her with its toothless smile and she let out an "aww" sound, before turning to you and your husband, "Kakashi-sensei, he really is your exact copy! Y/N, are you sure that's your child?"
You laughed at her joke, before shrugging your shoulders and pressing yourself closer to Kakashi.
"Trust me, I ask myself that every single day!"
Finally tearing your gaze away from Naruto and Sakura, you looked over to Sasuke, who remained frozen in his place. His eyes were focused on the little baby and there was a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips, but unlike his teammates he maintained a safe distance. Feeling someone was watching him, he turned his head in your direction, his cheeks going bright red once he realized you caught him staring.
"Sasuke", you smiled at him and everyone's attention went to the Uchiha, "Do you want to hold him too?"
The dark haired male gulped, his eyes widening. He nervously scratched his shoulder, his gaze going down to his feet.
"I...", he became silent, stealing one more glance at the baby. You found it almost amusing how he was a fearsome ninja that could take dozen of enemies at the same time, yet he felt scared to hold a tiny human.
Looking over at Naruto, you nodded your head, signalling him to pass your son to Sasuke. The blonde let out a huff, dragging his feet toward his teammate.
"Be careful! And hold the head!", he warned the Uchiha, who rolled his eyes in response.
"I know how to hold a baby, dobe! I am not stupid!"
"Language!", Kakashi warned next to you and you looked up at him, only for him to shake his head. It must've been hard dealing with these two for so many years, yet you knew your husband wouldn't had it any other way.
At this moment, surrounded by so much love and happiness, you felt like you finally had everything you wanted in life - an amazing husband, a healthy child and enormous support by anyone around you. If you could choose to re-live only one moment of your life, it would be this.
"You okay, my dove?", Kakashi whispered and you nodded your head, laying a small kiss on his covered chin.
"Never been better."
Unbeknown to you, all of Team 7 smiled at both of you, admiring how happy their sensei was. After decades of suffering and loss, Kakashi took the leap of faith and opened his heart to you. While he was unsure in the beginning if he was ready to be with someone and have a family, looking back he was glad he did.
Pulling down his mask, he laid a soft kiss on your forehead, before nuzzling his nose against it.
"I love you."
"I love you more."

Let’s talk about the Theatre Des Vampires & its potential impact!?!
First Lestat: pretty sure Lestat is a vampire here: he has the eyes, the nails & Armand is watching him. (Why would Armand watch mortal-Lestat? Unless watching Magnus and I’m sure we won’t see Magnus this season.) And that back bend has all the vibes of Lestat describing how as a vampire he can do impossibly graceful dance movements if he so chooses! (To delight and beguile, or so inhuman as to disturb!)
BUT book-Lestat does not theatre once he is a vampire. There’s only that one time that goes horribly wrong. To me, this does not look like it’s going horribly wrong!?! It looks like Lestat is still being “the greatest actor to have ever graced the stage”…??
Book-Lestat is horrified by vampire theatre. Including himself on the stage! He used to love how theatre conveyed something human & true & real. He felt it was a truly *good* think he could do. Being unable to read, human Lestat did a lot of improvised theatre (& Nicki taught him lines for some plays later on) - I’d argue improvisation being the most spontaneous & human theatre can get… so he finds it even moreso repellent how false it is as a vampire.
Compelled to go out on stage, Lestat looks out & sees a grinning skull behind every face. He feels he cannot find the natural, human meaning in words that was so instinctive to him when mortal. In the theatre, Lestat’s love as a mortal, Lestat truly feels what he has lost & will now never be. He could beguile & trick, but instead he intentionally horrifies the audience & himself - I think he does it `s he is so personally horrified and yet as theatre always was, still it must remain a place of truth for him? In the moment, there on stage, he realises his inhumanity and sees himself almost from outside himself as a horrific (though perfectly natural) monster “the mortal world seemed some desperate dream of rationality that in this lush and fetid jungle had not the slightest chance.” He sees himself like a cat or a rat or the evil vampire he is - he is a creature, but he is not human.
Until this point, other than when killing, Lestat has passed himself off easily amongst mortals as one of them. Yet, here on the stage he feels the Monster he is & cannot bear the artifice and the difference to what he once was, what he had the potential to be and what he was on the cusp of becoming. The theatre is like a reminder to him that his human life is over. This is a quality he will later be unable to bear in Nicki’s virtuoso violin skill once he becomes a vampire too. Nicki leans right in to the parody & evil manipulation of skill as opposed to mortal expression of humanity & performing with the devil’s instrument. Nicki finds a purity and truth in that & it’s the antithesis of what Lestat adored from & felt in Nicki’s mortal violin playing. Just as mad-Vampire-Nicki is the antithesis of all Lestat loved & they immediately despise each other (albeit Lestat will never truly not love too.)
Anyway, back to just-turned Lestat: at the same time, it’s Lestat’s *need* to return to the theatre that is really Nicolas’ downfall. Nicki was always fragile, and moreso when Lestat was stolen away. And of course when Armand kidnaps Nicki he is completely mad & unsaveable by then. But he had a small chance at some life... until this visitation to the theatre by Lestat, where Nicolas truly sees for his own eyes that something awful has befallen Lestat & he doesn’t understand it & nobody but him will believe it as they just want to believe Lestat the wondrous benefactor who has gifted them so much money and the theatre and charms everyone still.
This is in my opinion the point of no return for Nicki. He is a mad thing who I don’t think has any way back to sanity and life from here on. Gabrielle recognises it already even where Lestat cannot admit it to himself when she asks Lestat if he'll turn Nicki. At that time Lestat says he is appalled by the idea... but obviously he would have thought on it. Once Lestat showed his vampire self to Nicki, Nicki’s mortal life was done for. He begins drinking to extreme excess & cannot cope with life at... and this is before Armand snatches him.
Now, if the show have Lestat at the theatre for longer & actually using his skills to trick audiences for a while, will the impact this has on (presumably still mortal) Nicki be even deeper? It surely would be given the scenario…? And so will Lestat feel even more guilt o we Nicki’s eventual downfall? I can almost see it in my mind playing out now. Lestat using his vampiric skill to beguile audiences for a time, Nicki grieving increasingly mad & all the other people at the theatre merely adoring Lestat & not wishing to see anything wrong. And maybe even Nicki wanting to believe in moments that all is well? But really, Nicki growing increasingly fragile until, as in the books Armand steals him away. I just feel like something like this might be in the TV show and I feel that it could be an interesting deepening of the emotion (although it would alter Lestat in the theatre a little and the impact of the theatre to Lestat's self… but then, that was Lestat’s thoughts and horror as a new vampire. He feels very differently by the time he becomes a rock star… so…?!)
And this ties in: the recent clips suggest Claudia loves the theatre & Louis hates it. Louis always hated the callousness of the theatre, but Claudia loved it mainly as a clever way to ensnare victims. In the theatre in the book she is immediately in danger. Will this be different feelings here. This older Claudia may initially love the idea of joining the theatre! It may appeal to her nature! But oh, what awaits her…
Anyway: just some train-of-thought ponderings….
Anyone have thoughts on this?

Zutara Month Day 2: Diary/Journal
And since there is no end and no beginning / You will run, you will run, you will run
- Lost Girls, Tilly and the Wall
It had been a long day of combing through the palace vaults, one of which was filled to the brim with old scrolls and leather-bound books, all of them spoils of war taken by the Fire Nation. So much knowledge locked away, Katara thought. Of course one of the ways to destroy a people was to take away their knowledge, to deny them their history, but what surprised her was that it hadn't been destroyed. Rather, left to rot in the dust and the dark, which was almost worse.
"Some of these were used," Zuko said, his voice a quiet rasp, "to find out how best to conquer the other nations. I was here once, after my banishment had been decreed, grabbing what I could find about the Avatar and the Air Nomads to take with me." Katara saw him flinch at the memory. There were cobwebs in his hair, nesting in the loose topknot at the top of his head. He didn't wear the hairpiece today, and he looked like any other young man in loose dark-colored clothes with small red and gold embellishments. "But most of it's just been sitting here. It should go back to the people it belongs to."
What was salvageable would go back, Katara thought, but she didn't say that aloud. Zuko tried, he really did, but there was so much damage that couldn't be undone, so much destruction that had been caused by simple carelessness if not outright maliciousness. It made her sad, and angry, but still she persevered, eager to do what she could.
She had been unfurling what appeared to be a cracked and soiled earthbending scroll when she heard Zuko call her name, his tone rigid with urgency. "Katara. Look at this."
He was holding a thin bundle of yellowed pages held together by rotting animal hide, peering at the faded, looping script.
"What is it," she asked, but he simply looked up at her and said nothing. Wordlessly, and with an expression she couldn't read, he held the book out to her.
Katara took the old thing from his hand, holding it carefully for fear that she might damage it. She looked at the page that Zuko had held open, and began to read:
Well, this is the first entry in what I believe will be a long journey. Tomorrow, I will leave the Northern Water Tribe, with nothing but the clothes on my back, a few rations that will see me to the nearest Earth Kingdom port, and the necklace my betrothed made for me, to symbolize a union that will never be. I will never forget you, Pakku, but I cannot marry you. I hope that one day you will see that. My love for you is not enough to change who you are, I understand that now. I always have, but today I make my decision. Perhaps one day you will read these words, and know, too, of what I have done for love.
There was more, the words so faded and stained that they were difficult to make out, and Katara realized she could read no more for the tears that filled her eyes.
Gently, Zuko shoved aside a stack of scrolls and moved closer, placing an arm around her shoulders. Katara could not bite back the sob that escaped her, echoing in the empty vault. Her hand reached for him as he held her, fingers curling in the cloth of his shoulder as his own fingers gently combed the dust from her hair.

I think Rosie is a key factor to understanding Alastor's outlook on friendships.
The show all but spells out that Alastor sees attachments as a weakness, from the "Great Alastor, altruist, died from his friends" line to the hints about his failed friendship with Vox and to the way the narrative immediately punishes him when he admits to Niffty that "One could get accustomed". However something sets Rosie aside from all of this. With her, Alastor is open about scheming, he allows her to touch him and even seems to bleat like a fawn when she grabs him. Their friendship seems oddly healthy for a guy who seems to think that letting people even peek through the twenty meter wall he's built around himself is a fate worse than death. So what makes Rosie different? I think what sets her aside from other attachments that Alastor might view as dangerous (such as Vox, maybe?) is that no matter how close they might be, she still has her own world and he has his. There's a safety in knowing your life won't have to change and that you're free to take any risk, ruin any bond because you're not directly putting this person in danger. Rosie is Alastor's friend, not his responsibility. That's why she's not as affected by Alastor's disappearance and welcomes him back as if he had been gone for a week. Their lives are completely separated, but they choose to meet at the borders.
I think that someone like Vox doesn't do that. Vox lives with Velvette and Valentino, they share everything, success, plans, even a living space. Heck, Velvette can go to the Overlord meeting representing the other two because that trio can speak as one. When Vox asked Alastor to "join his team", he was basically asking Alastor to remodel his life to make space for him as well. If one of the Vees fucks up, all of them fuck up ("Our model is perfection"). Alastor has his own plans, his own messes and cannot by any means be tied down to someone else. Even if he did care for Vox, in order to really be on a team with him or anyone else, he would have to drop his creepy persona which keeps him safe, he couldn't just kill people and betray others however he wished, let alone make sketchy deals with much more powerful entities. His actions would impact the ones he kept close. Vox and Alastor couldn't join forces because they have fundamentally different goals and outlooks on attachment. Vox wants codependency, Alastor has conjured up indestructible walls just to survive.
So, tl;dr: Rosie and Alastor work as friends because they seemingly agree to keep their lives separate. Vox wanted to carve a niche for himself in Alastor's life just like he had done for him, but that's just not what Alastor wants nor is able to give.

I think another reason why Twilight is opening up while living with the Forgers is because he has to care for Anya's emotional well-being. Having seen how headstrong and stubborn Anya is, he has found that he cannot manipulate her into doing what he wants.
Unbeknownst to him, the manipulation fails because she can read his mind and see through all of his lies. He just thinks he happened upon a child so very stubborn that he needs to adapt his methods.
And in this case, his method is by making his asset trust him, so that she will do as he asks (study to get Stellas at Eden) and won't misbehave and jeopardize the mission. Again it's thanks to Anya's mind reading powers and willing participation that the story transforms into comedy instead of a tragedy of abuse it would have been without them, but Twilight has been adapting to a true supportive approach.
And since his core motivation to be a spy is to create a world where children don't cry - which is, practically, caring for children's emotional well-being - taking this approach with Anya allows him to reach back into that motivation. He reaches into his deepest self; a man who cares for other people's feelings and is willing to do everything in his power to protect and provide for that.
Caring for Anya's feelings happens to help his mission, but it also comes from the deepest parts of his true, hidden self. It's not something that will go away when the mission ends or if a considerable hurdle appears, and in fact, it's one of his main redeeming qualities - cause no matter how wholesome the family situation is, homeboy will have to prove his feelings are true; the audience may know that already (and Anya will know earlier than any other character), but it has to be shown in-narrative too.
But yeah in general there's such a good connection between his core traits and the whole bunch of 1) the nature of the mission he took up, 2) Anya's abilities, and 3) his relationship with Yor as a fake couple. It really ties everything up with a pretty, precise bow and makes his character development (and realization) make perfect sense. It's way more than "Oh he just develops feelings because Anya and Yor are Special™" and it's earned that.
(Anime only fan here, don't spoil me for the manga)

Hello! I love your blog! I watched the show when it came out last year and am getting prepared for season 2 by coming here and watching all the promos and such. I read the books years ago, so I am no expert. I have a tons of questions, but please forgive me if you have answered them before. At the end of the first season, when Armand was revealed, I assumed the love of my life line was for Daniel. To get a reaction out of Daniel, Louis did not seem Ok. But all the promo information seems to imply they have been happy for the most part all these years. Or if not happy, then content.  I get that there has been tinkering, I get they are putting on a performance for Daniel, but they seem to have elevated their relationship from the book. It has been years since I read the book, but I always thought in Paris, Armand was mind controlling Louis to some degree. They barely knew each other; it was only a couple of months I think before Claudia was killed. It wasn’t some grand romance. Just manipulation to get at Lestat. I know Armand fell in love with Louis, but I felt that Louis did not fall in love with Armand. He was infatuated. Then they travel around for 100 years, but just because Louis can’t be alone and there was no one left. They are not happy or even pretending to be.  Louis didn’t even notice when Armand left him. Did I interpret this wrong? I have seen that some are spectating that Dubai is Trinity Gate. But again, maybe I am wrong, but Trinity Gate never felt super romantic to me. Just two people waiting around for the people they really wanted to be with to get their crap together and come back. I know that they are polyamorous in the books, but their main romantic relationships are with other people. When Lestat and Daniel show up, they just get back with them, no drama or anything. It just feels like the show is trying to elevate Armand and Louis’s relationship to create some kind of love triangle, which just feels cheap to me. Very Twilight and Hunger Games. There are people have shipping wars over these relationships. I am also confused how people have such strong feelings about Louis and Armand when we haven’t even seen them on screen yet. Anyways, I guess I am feeling turned off by this season. Hardly any Louis and Lestat or Daniel and Armand and some love triangle with a ghost.  Part of the reason season 1 was so great was the chemistry between Louis and Lestat. I think an entire season with little interaction between them and a new Claudia just will feel like a whole new show.  Do you think the show is just completely diverting from the book with all of the stuff in Duabi? It seems obvious from comments made by the actors that Devils Minion happened in the past. But did it happen with Louis there? I can’t see that making any of these shippers happy on either side. Louis would very much be thrown aside for Daniel. Daniel and Armand were so intense about each other in the books and can’t see Louis not being ignored regularly if they were in a throple. I just don’t see it working because Louis in the show does not seem numb. He would care if his partner was deeply in love with someone else even if just for the principle of it. The show has already shown how well Louis handles cheating.  So I am assuming the broke up but then why did Louis say they had been together for 77 years? Also, Louis keeps giving side eye to Daniel and Armand when they are having moments. Does he not know about them? It seems like he does from his poking, but I am very confused by the whole thing. Why do you think they are trying so hard to manipulate Daniel? Taking journal pages out and such. What is the point of all of this. I just cannot see a way for any of this to make sense that at all keep in line with the books. Also do you think the show will do polyamory? They went so hard on the cheating aspect in season 1, which makes me think they can’t go there on the show. You can’t make it such a deal breaker for Louis for me to ever believe that he would ok with it later.
Hey!
Glad you like!
So, first off, the last line, the "Love of my life", was revealed to be inspired by "The Graduate", and was played as such, which... changes the meaning quite a lot, imho. Here is a good post on that.
I think the Loumand we see is very much presenting a united front (something the reviews have been pointing at as well). That said, the extended look the other day made clear that the pages were not removed for Daniel - Armand removed them (at least the straight cut out ones imho), and Louis does not have access to them either. And whatever they reveal will be a catalyst for sure (I'm thinking Merrick reveal, as that book is where the diary entries are from after all).
Louis definitely knows about Armand and Daniel, in fact I believe he is trying to bring them back together.
I think that parts of the Devil's Minion happened with Louis there, or Louis at least aware. I also think Louis tried to break up with Armand in Paris (as he does in the book) and probably drifted away from him later on too (also as in the book) but maybe... that is the part where things get very muddy re memory. And tinkering.
I do not think we'll have love triangles in the sense of the word.
This is not about cheating, whether that be Loustat, Loumand or Devil's Minion, it never was.
It was presented to be, for reasons.
But these relationships just don't work that way, and one of the very hard to stomach realizations will be that Louis stayed with Armand (and especially if there were no full break-ups!) despite what Armand does to Claudia. And him.
For me it all makes a lot of sense, tbh.
It's a tale. A version of the story presented for a reason, from a specific POV. In season 2 we will get more POVs. And we already know they will revisit things. Likely in the last episodes, if the reviews are any indication.
And then... the tale will shift.

Your exhaustion allows you to fall into a deep sleep. When morning comes, you resist any attempts to rouse you. Your father decides to allow you to skip your weekly visit to the Sept to let you rest. When you finally decide to get out of bed, it is long past breakfast and close to lunch.
But as soon as you make your way through the house, you sense excitement in the air. A maid is bustling around his room, laying out clothes and appearing to pack some of your father’s belongings for a trip.
Curious, you find your father in his study. His animated face immediately tells you that something happened while you were sleeping.
“Father, what is happening? Are you going somewhere?"
“Well, look who’s finally awake,” he teases you, but you can tell he is in an exceptionally good mood. “Yes, I am leaving for Harrentown in the morning.”
Before you can ask why, he hands you the morning newspaper, pointing to a specific story. Quickly skimming through the article, your breath catches when you grasp its significance. “Prince Aemond’s sapphire eye has been found after all these centuries."
“That is what I intend to find out,” he replies. “If I can determine that it is authentic, I will try to acquire it for the collection.”
Your mind races through your astonishment, as well as the possible implications this could have. Although you've never been certain whether to believe Aemond's tale of his sapphire's bewitching, you know he does. ‘But what other explanation could there be for his ghostly existence?’ you ask yourself. But surely, bringing him back to life is impossible? That would defy everything known to man.’
You still feel rather guilty for keeping Aemond’s presence a secret from your father, but you fear he would not believe you, and how would you convince him if you are the only one who can see him? However, you can't help but feel a spark of hope that you could possibly help him.
You plead with him, "Father, you really must acquire this stone if there is any chance it is authentic." You quickly add, "Having the sapphire would complete the display."
Your father looks up at you thoughtfully, considering what you've said. He agrees, "Yes, it would."
Before you are about to leave, your father stops you. “After I return, I think we need to have a long talk about your future and about what you want to do."
Though part of you dreads having that conversation, you cannot be angry with him; the look of love and concern for you shows on his face. "Yes, we will," you say simply with a smile.
Eager to tell Aemond the news, you head over to the museum. Quickly making your way up the staircase, you find him by his display, for he told you he is always aware of when you enter the museum.
“Has something happened?” He asks, curious about your unusual visit at this time.
Somewhat breathless in your excitement and exertion from practically running up the stairs, you gasp, “Your sapphire may have been found.” Quickly, you recount the article about the fishermen finding a sapphire in the God's Eye and tell him of your father’s pending trip to Harrentown.
“My lady, I must have that sapphire!” He insists, coming towards you abruptly, causing you to take a step back.
Sensing your unease, he pauses. “That stone could let me live again. It could end this awful existence for me. Please, I need you to make sure your father gets that sapphire.”
Taken aback by his intensity, you try to stay calm. “I know what you told me—how important the sapphire is to you.”
“But you don’t believe me, do you?"
“I don’t know. Even you must admit, it sounds impossible that a spell could bring you back."
“It will work; I know it,” he maintains. “I need that sapphire."
“My father leaves in the morning. If he finds the sapphire to be authentic, he will try to acquire it,” you remind him. “I will speak to him again and try to persuade him to do whatever it takes to get the stone. He should only be away for a few days at most."
You see him close his eye, struggling to maintain his composure. You continue to try to reassure him, but it becomes clear that he wishes to be left alone for now. Still unnerved by how intense he can become, so quickly, you leave him in the museum with the promise that you will do everything you can to help him.
The rest of your day is spent helping your father prepare for his trip and going over his instructions for while he is gone. You convince him to not close the museum, assuring him that you and the staff can manage for a few days without him.
For the first time in weeks, the closeness the two of you share has returned. You are both enthusiastic about a potential new acquisition, though for very different reasons. Wanting to see your father before he leaves in the morning and unsure of Aemond’s mood, you decide to go to bed early, skipping your nighttime visit with the prince for the first time in weeks.
While everyone sleeps, Aemond wanders through the museum, his conscious mind going over what you told him. As the centuries have passed since his death, he has not really experienced true emotion. Pain and rage are more like memories now. For centuries, he has been disconnected and reduced to a passive observer; he has not cared about living in ages.
For years, he raged at the bottom of the lake, his body chained to Vhagar’s saddle. Fully conscious and aware, he could feel the sapphire nearby, bound to him by the spell made with his blood. He raged at his misfortune to be born a second son to a brother who didn’t even want his birthright. He raged at his eye being taken from him, with only his mother pleading for justice to the deaf ears of his father. He raged at everything and everyone who ever stood in his way.
He raged at the indignity of being locked in a vault underneath the Red Keep and forgotten, rather than having his remains burned by dragonfire. Even in death, he could not receive the respect he deserved.
But even a ghost cannot maintain that kind of rage forever. After being separated from the sapphire, he weakened; his life became more of a distant memory, and so did the rage.
When Daenerys began burning the city, the part of him that remembered his pride in his house wanted to see a Targaryen on dragonback show the masses true power, and he wanted her to reclaim the throne. But also, part of him cared little if she burned the entire city, his bones included, if it would end his existence.
When her dragon flew off with her body, he only felt a slight memory of anger that his house was truly dead. Only curiosity about the strange young man who became king kept him from retreating to his refuge of endless drifting, ignoring time and the living.
However, for the first time since his death, this sweet girl has awakened memories other than rage and pain. He has spoken with no one like this since his death, and rarely even when he was alive. He doesn't remember anyone so accepting of him, who neither wanted nor expected anything from him. She was just curious about him; she even seemed to like him.
At first, he only reached out to her because he was perturbed by being moved to this new place, with his bones displayed for anyone to gawk at. He felt a dark mischievousness to perhaps toy with her a little, like he used to do centuries ago. Like he did with the serving maid, whom he terrified so much. But her bright-eyed beauty and lively nature interests him, and he finds himself drawn to her like a moth to a flame.
Now he finds himself looking forward to her visits. Now the idea of her leaving is quite distressing to him. For the first time in ages, he craves company, and he does not want to be alone again. And now you have given him something he has not had before: hope.
For the first time since he has come to this place, he decides that he needs to venture beyond the museum. He needs to know more about you and your father—the people who may hold his fate in their hands.
Though he is tied to his remains, he does have more freedom of movement than he has let on. He has enough to easily enter your home, and that is what he does, exploring room by room. He finds your father’s room, standing at the foot of the bed while the man sleeps. This man, who has no idea what is really going on with his daughter.
Next, he enters your room, moving to the edge of your bed, wanting to be close to you. He can hear your steady breaths and see the rise and fall of your chest as you sleep. He has to resist the urge to touch you. He watches as you shiver slightly, your sleeping body reaching to the chill he brings with him. He forces himself to leave soon after, not wanting to alarm you with his presence in your room.
After seeing your father off with wishes for a safe trip and a repeated plea to acquire the sapphire, you force yourself to focus more on your work. Despite your preoccupation with Aemond, you want to prove to your father that you can manage without him.
Over the next two days, you are quite busy with the museum and dealing with Aemond. Whenever you see him, he has the intensity of a caged wild animal, pacing his enclosure, yearning for his stolen freedom. While his new fervor is rather intimidating, your heart aches for him, and you find yourself praying that you can help him.
Fortunately, this uncertainty does not last long. A telegram from your father arrives stating that he found the sapphire to be authentic, and after negotiations, he has purchased the gem from the fisherman. He informs you that he will return to the city tomorrow with the stone.
Your heart leaps with this news, and you cannot wait to tell Aemond. Even though it is the middle of the day, you rush over to the museum to give him the good news.
Cautiously, making sure that none of the staff are around to overhear, you quietly say his name. The cold air alerts you to his presence before you see him appear next to you.
“Aemond, he has the sapphire!” You blurt out, trying to keep your voice down but unable to keep the smile off your face.
“He has it?” he repeats cautiously, almost as if he is afraid to allow himself too much hope.
You’re trying to contain your excitement. “Yes, he believes it is authentic, and he bought it. He says he will be back tomorrow.”
You see a range of emotions flash across his face—relief, hope—and you swear that he is almost shaking. But there is a hot-blooded, blazing gleam in his eye that nearly overwhelms you.
“Finally, this can end.” Though he says the words softly, his voice is impassioned and resonates with determination. When he looks at you, his gaze is almost burning with intensity. “I need you to bring the sapphire to me,” he implores you.
"But, Aemond, once the gem is here, what do we do with it?”
You follow him as he quickly moves toward his remains laying in the glass coffin.
He points to his skull and says, "I think it needs to go back to its place in my eye."
It is late the next afternoon when your father returns. You are busy dealing with another full house of patrons in the museum, so despite your excitement, you have to wait to hear all about his trip and see the sapphire.
Once you close for the night, you find him in his study. After a quick hug and a few questions about his trip, you join him at his desk. Aware of your curiosity, he opens a small black pouch and removes a cloth-wrapped object. Turning back the folds of cloth reveals a brilliant blue sapphire.
“Here it is, my dear,” he says, smiling. “This cost me a pretty penny, you know.”
At first, you are surprised by the sight of the gem, so you gently pick it up and examine it. “It is about the size and shape of a man’s eye, I suppose," you remark. “How do you intend to display it?”
“We'll have a glass display case set up near the portrait, I think.”
Suddenly, a thought comes to you. “What if we displayed the sapphire in the eye socket of the skull? That would make for quite a dramatic, almost shocking look, don’t you think?”
Chuckling softly, "It appears I'm not the only one with a flair for drama, my girl. That is something to consider, perhaps.” Stifling a yawn, he adds, “I’m tired from the trip, and I think I’ll go to bed soon.” Wrapping the stone up again and placing it back in its pouch, your father pockets it. “I’ll lock this in the safe in my room.”
As the two of you leave the study, he tells you, “I’ve arranged for a photographer to come to the museum tomorrow morning to take a portrait of us in front of the display. I want photographs to advertise the museum; we need all of the business we can get to make up for our recent expenditures.”
After he says goodnight and heads into his bedroom, you quietly go back to the museum to talk to Aemond. As you climb the stairs, you see him waiting for you as you reach the top of the stairs.
“It’s here. I can feel it,” he says to you excitedly.
“Yes, I’ve seen it.
He is clearly impatient and questions you. “Where is it? Can you bring it to me?”
Shaking your head, “No, not tonight. It’s locked in a safe in my father’s bedroom.” Seeing his frustration, you add, “But I did suggest putting the sapphire in your skull for display. I think he liked the idea.”
For the first time in days, Aemond smiles. “Clever girl.” Coming very close to you, he says, “I want to thank you for everything you are doing to help me. If this works, when this works, I want you to know I will never forget this, and I will always be there for you.”
Looking up at him, you can’t help the flutter in your chest that his words create. Looking into his captivating face, you see only sincerity and strength. With a will of its own, your hand reaches up to touch his cheek, almost going through him, before you can barely feel the cold skin beneath your fingers. Despite the guilt and hesitancy in your conscience for keeping this secret from your father, you would do anything to help Aemond right now. Your desire to restore Aemond's life surpasses all else, and you realize the ease with which your growing attachment to him could sweep you away.
Realizing that you have been holding your breath, you swallow shakily, trying to compose yourself. You suddenly feel awkward and fearful that the flush on your skin is visible. You try to move away from him, but he moves with you.
Leaning even closer, he murmurs, “Somehow you have stirred something in this long, dead heart of mine."
Returning his gaze, now wide-eyed with surprise, you can only stare as your lips part involuntarily, but you are unable to form words.
With a gentle smile, he reminds you, “It is getting late for you, I think.” Pulling back, he adds, "Goodnight, my sweet lady.”
Only managing to whisper ‘goodnight’ in return before beginning to make your way on shaky legs through the collection and back to your home. Pausing once to glance back, you see him at the railing, watching over you as you leave.
The next morning, after breakfast, the photographer arrives. After the he sets up his equipment, you and your father head towards the Kinslayer display. He is wearing his usual tail-coated tuxedo, and you are dressed in one of your finest gowns, with your hair done in one of the new fashionable styles. While your father and the photographer discuss the positioning for the portrait, you are surprised to see Aemond approaching.
Your father and you have decided to stand side by side in front of the glass case, with you holding the sapphire in your gloved hand. As Aemond approaches you, drawn to the bright blue gem you hold, you try to keep your smile steady. You pose until the camera flash goes off, and then pose for another by yourself. Moving to the side, while your father’s picture is being taken, you chance a look at Aemond trying to silently ask, ‘What are you doing?’ but he ignores you, seemingly entranced by the sapphire.
After assuring your father that he will develop the photographs as quickly as possible, the photographer takes his leave. You take the opportunity to ask your father about the sapphire.
“Are we going to display the stone tonight?”
"No, I'm thinking about waiting until after we have the photographs, and possibly holding an invitation only night here at the museum to debut the sapphire."
You can’t help but chuckle lovingly at your father. “A flair for drama and a head for business."
Strong evening storms keep many at home this night, with only a few hardy souls venturing out. You are somewhat grateful for a slow evening, given how much you have on your mind. But you are surprised when one of your staff informs you that your father has ordered the museum to close early for the night and for you to come to his study right away.
You go to your father, slightly worried. When you find him seated at his desk, you can tell immediately that something is wrong. He appears fatigued and pale, his lips pressed tightly together, a stark contrast to his cheerful demeanor earlier in the day.
As you walk toward him, you ask.“What’s the matter? Are you not feeling well?” As you walk toward him, you ask.
“The photographer brought the pictures a little while ago,” he replies, his voice almost quivering.
“Already?”
“He brought them because he thought I needed to see them right away,” he tells you quietly. "I do not want to frighten you, but you also need to see them."
Confused, you take the photograph he holds for you. Your eyes immediately widen in shock, and a loud gasp escapes your throat. The picture shows you and your father together in front of the Kinslayer display, but it also shows a third person. Aemond, though slightly hazy and transparent, is clearly recognizable standing close beside you. His long, pale hair, eye patch, and distinctive appearance make him easy to recognize if one has seen his portrait. He is looking down at you while you hold the gemstone with a sly look on his face, almost smirking.
You are very shaken. You look at your father as he hands you a second picture, this one taken of you alone. Once again, he is visible beside you.
Of course you knew he was there as the photographs were being taken, but it never occurred to you that he could be visible to the camera.
“The photographer assured me that there is no logical reason for these images, but I can scarcely believe my eyes,” he says to you, also shaken by the photographs.
“It’s him,” you simply say quietly. “He’s been here since his remains were brought here.”
Looking at you in astonishment, “What are you saying? You know something about this?”
Sighing deeply, you decide to tell your father everything. You’ve never liked keeping this from him, mostly because of the fear that he would not believe you, which has kept you quiet about Aemond. But you cannot lie directly to him, and now there is photographic proof of Aemond’s existence.
You leave nothing out—your conversations, Ameond’s tale of the sapphire spell, and the hope that it could bring him back to life.
While you thought confiding everything to your father would help, it has the opposite effect. He is horrified and nearly shakes with fury at you for keeping this from him.
“Have you gone mad?’ He asks, raising his voice at you. “Bring him back? That man was a cold-blooded killer! Even if something as far-fetched as this were possible, he is not someone who deserves to be brought back.”
“In fact, I’m going to put an end to this nonsense right now,” he angrily announces, getting up and leaving his study.
“What are you going to do?” you ask fearfully.
“I’m going to have a talk with our unwelcome ghost. You say he can hear what we say, then he can hear this.”
You are hurrying behind him, frantically beseeching to no avail for him to listen to you the entire way to the second floor of the museum.
Reaching the display, your father stops and looks around. Aemond materializes near his remains, clearly wondering what is happening.
Turning to you, “Is he here?” Your father demands to know.
At this point, you can only nod your head while fighting back tears.
“You are to stay away from my daughter! Any nonsense about bringing you back with the sapphire will not happen. I won’t allow it!” He rages furiously. “I know you can hear me.”
You watch Aemond react to this with growing anger. Aemond clenches his fists, seemingly ready to attack your father. Again, you try to plead your case, but he ignores you.
“I swear by the Seven, I will have your bones crated up, put on a ship, and dropped into the Narrow Sea if I have to, to protect my daughter from you."
Aghast at his threat: "No, you cannot do that to him. He would suffer terribly for eternity if you did that.” You tearfully beg.
Turning back to you, ”You are now forbidden to enter the museum. If I find that you have disobeyed me, I will have his bones shipped off. Do I make myself clear?”
Dismayed at your father’s anger, you can only look at him in despair.
"You will be attending college in Oldtown. I’ll start making the arrangements in the morning," he informs you.
Shaking your head, tears rolling down your cheeks, you cry, “No, please don't, father.”
“My mind is made up.” He begins to head for the stairs, motioning for you to come along.
Looking at Aemond, you can see the fury in his face. You only manage to mouth the words ‘I’m sorry’ to him before joining your father, who is waiting for you on the stairs.
Back at your residence, you try once more to reason with him, but he will not listen to anything you say. Finally, he insists that you go to your room and leave him. Sweating and his face red with anger, you comply, not wanting to enrage him any further. You retreat to your room, crying and wracked with guilt over this turn of events.
Long after you have cried yourself to sleep and your father has numbed his anger with a few drinks to allow him to drift off, Aemond still rages in the museum.
Knowing he cannot allow this chance to end his terrible existence to slip away, he once again ventures into your home. First, he stops in your room to check on you. He does not know exactly what transpired, but he is not angry with you. He knows from the tear streaks on your face and the restlessness of your sleep that you are distraught by your father’s actions.
Heading to your father’s room, he stays near the door, watching the older man sleep. Fury at possibly being denied his chance to live again courses through him. He has not felt anything so strongly since his death. Deciding he cannot allow this man to interfere, he moves silently to the bedside.
With the man lying on his back, snoring softly, Aemond places his hand above his body, hovering there for a moment before plunging his hand into his chest. He finds the man’s heart and begins squeezing the muscle. Using all of his energy to make his hand solid, trying to stop the heart from beating takes a great deal of effort. The man's eyes fly open, wide in distress; his hands begin to flail; and desperate gasps come from his throat.
It only takes a long moment for Aemond to stop his heart and watch life fade from his eyes.

I am very sad Wrecker didn't really get much development overall. And there are other things I would like to have seen. And Tech.
But anyway.
So consider this version I'm going to (possibly, when my emotions have calmed down), write.
Buckle up, folks. This is gonna be a LOOONG one.
Tumblr media
During Plan 99, Wrecker's neck injury is much more severe than first thought.
It is limiting his movement for some time, and AZI warns him that, without a bacta tank, it will take time and rest to heal properly.
Cue Hemlock turning up and their escape (during which time some of the damage is made permenant by the stress), and Omega being taken.
He is already dealing with not being 'strong enough' to pull up the entire railcar and save Tech (which Echo insists was impossible), because he was born and bred to be the strong one, and if he can't be that, what is he?
Flash forward to season 3, and when he turns up with Hunter to the Durands, he's visibly struggling, but only the audience and Hunter really recognise it.
He's hunched. He's stiff. He's more hesitant. But Hunter is hyper focused.
Wrecker is suffering from his injuries, but is doing so in silence, because Omega comes first, and Hunter is still his older brother and his sergeant. They'll find Omega, then they can rest.
During the visit to the old lab, his injuries flare up. Hunter loses an eye to the slither vines. They know they should be more careful, they know they were reckless, but Hunter cannot bring himself to care.
When the surprise reunion happens, Omega pauses for just a little longer when she sees the state of Wrecker. His armour, his posture, the way he falls to his knees to embrace her instead of picking her up because, despite how he wants to, so so badly, it hurts too damn much.
Her guilt only grows when she sees Hunter missing an eye, and realises how much they went through to try and find her. She apologises to Hunter for not listening to him at Cid's, for getting herself captured, saying that she was only trying to protect her squad.
They have a group hug, interrupted by Crosshair appearing silently behind the, uttering his trademark 'How touching,' paralleling the first episode where they find Omega in the brig.
They pull their blasters, Omega panics and runs to Crosshair, standing in front of him, explaining they escaped together. Hunter and Wrecker are still suspicious.
Onto Pabu.
Wrecker's injuries are bandaged, and he is insistent that AZI has had a proper look and he just needs to rest up.
Hunter asks him when Omega leaves why he lied to her. Wrecker shrugs and says he didn't want her to worry.
Omega finds Crosshair, he's still shaky and practicing. When he spots Hunter and Wrecker, he remarks how much they've been through, and how much they've changed.
Omega reminds him that they have too.
Crosshair finally has a talk with Wrecker about his injuries. They repair their relationship a little by admitting they're both scared of losing the one thing that made them 'special', a steady hand and true strength.
Echo arrives. He remarks on how run down everyone looks, Hunter wants to get straight to a meeting, but Echo insists on getting food first.
He expresses how grateful he is that Omega is okay and unharmed, and becomes visibly distressed when she talks about Clones being experimented on.
He looks to Crosshair and asks 'you too?'
Crosshair is hesitant, but nods. He tells Echo what they did to him, adding that he doesn't want Hunter and Wrecker to know.
Echo urges him to get support from his brothers, but he point blank refuses, insisting he will be able to get it under control. Echo is unconvinced, but agrees, beginning to repair his relationship with Crosshair.
On Barton IV, when scoping out the noises outside, when Hunter shoves Crosshair, Cross snaps, asking him how he failed to notice how much Wrecker is struggling.
Hunter retorts that Wrecker 'doesn't struggle', says Crosshair doesn't know them any more.
Crosshair reminds him he's spent the past 6 months with only Omega for company, and that he knows her better than Hunter, and that she is scared for Wrecker too. He accuses him of failing her, and that he can't even see how much she's hurting because of what happened to them.
After dealing with the Wyrm, Hunter let's out a long sigh, looking back to where Wrecker is moving towards them and finally seeing just how hunched and awkward he is when he moves.
Crosshair remarks that he seems to be able to see better with only one eye. Hunter chuckles and they squabble in a friendly manner.
During the mission with Fennec, Wrecker is injured further, struggling to carry their target with them, and Hunter begins to become very concerned.
When they get back to Pabu, he orders Wrecker to rest, Wrecker insists he's fine. Crosshair disagrees. They get into an argument. Crosshair takes Wrecker down in a hand to hand fight easily.
Realisation hits. Wrecker agrees to rest. Hunter feels guilty, apologises to Wrecker, who shrugs it off and hugs him.
When the Empire shows up and takes Omega, Wrecker's injury is exacerbated by the explosion. He's weak, he's seriously injured, but he keeps pushing.
They break Rampart out, but he struggles to carry him, struggles to throw him, struggles with everything.
Hunter comes to realise that his brother might never be the same again. He begins considering leaving him on Pabu while he and Crosshair go to get Omega from Tantiss.
By the time comes for him to consider it, it's too late.
They make the jump to Tantiss, the shuttle crash takes more out of him, and the fight with the massive creature nearly kills him.
By the time they get to the hangar, he's a shadow of his former self. When the debris falls on Hunter, he's in too much pain to lift it.
He can only watch as Hunter loses his other eye to the troopers, and Crosshair is knocked out.
He gets taken down too easily, unable to fight any more.
When they are tortured, he can barely resist, all of his energy failing. His strength, the one thing he was made for, is gone.
He's tired. His muscles are wrecked. He's had no time to recover, no medical treatment. He's beyond repair.
Despite it all, he pushes through to help Omega, he is faced with a CX trooper around his size, but for the first time in his life, brute force won't work. He just doesn't have the strength.
He doesn't dive through the window. He baits the CX trooper into charging him, and darts out of the way just in time. The trooper lands on his head, snapping his neck and killing him instantly.
So the final fight comes down to them fighting the CX troopers , but in a way they are not experienced in.
Hunter has to use his other senses. With his sight gone, he needs to trust his hearing, his spatial awareness, the electrical pulses he can feel.
Wrecker has to use his brain to trick the troopers, knowing he can't beat them 1v1 any more.
Crosshair's weakness is close quarters combat, but he fights through, desperate to chase down Omega.
Finally CX2 is the only one left. He talks about emotions being their weakness, and undoes his helmet, assuring them they will suffer an emotional response.
It's Tech. Wrecker all but collapses, just on shock. Hunter let's out a sob and similarly falls. Crosshair attacks.
He tries to get through to Tech, saying he knows he's in there. CX2 just laughs sharply, telling him he will lose, again, because that's what they always do.
No matter how successful they were, they were never meant for longevity. They were always destined for short, sad lives, and he's going to make sure of it.
Wrecker marches towards CX2, Hunter and Crosshair calling him and trying to stop him, unable to. But he just walks up and hugs him, crying as he murmurs how sorry he is for not being strong enough to stop him falling, for not holding on.
Tech's memories begin to return, telling him in a strained voice that Hemlock needs to be stopped, that Project Necromancer is a plan to keep the emperor alive forever, to cement his rule for multiple lifetimes. The only person with the knowledge to do it is Hemlock.
He needs to die.
They chase after Omega, Wrecker limping behind with Hunter. As the confrontation happens, Tech kneels down in front of Crosshair, getting him to rest his blaster on his shoulder, a callback to TCW S7 arc. Crosshair says he doesn't think he can make the shot.
Tech reassures him he's never missed one when it mattered most. Tells him to trust himself.
Crosshair takes the shot as Omega stabs Hemlock.
Then takes one clean headshot. Hemlock is dead. He doesn't fall. He's there. Dead. Crumpled. Gone.
Knowing they have no time, they get into Hemlock's shuttle, flying away towards Pabu.
Omega is shocked and overjoyed to see Tech, but devastated that Hunter has lost his sight.
They reassure her that everything will be okay.
They arrive on Pabu. Echo hugs Tech, tells him he's an idiot, expresses how sorry he is he was experimented on. Tech reassures him, they exchange a meaningful handshake.
Wrecker has a cane now, his body still recovering. He has a limp, it's obvious he's suffered permanent damage. Crosshair helps Hunter over to where Omega is. He still has a tremor, his hand still aches, but he's there, with his family.
They talk about the future, about how they are free now, to do whatever they want. Tech comes over and tells Crosshair it's time to go.
They all look at him, confused. He explains they're going with Echo to join the rebellion. They've been a part of the Empire, they know what they're up against, they need to fight. It would feel wrong not to.
Omega hugs them and they promise to be back soon. Hunter and Wrecker relax with Omega. Fade to black.
Epilogue:
Hunter still catches Omega before she goes. Only this time, Crosshair and Tech are waiting with him, having come to pick her up in their ship. Batcher is acting as Hunter's seeing eye dog, giving him his freedom back to a certain extent.
They reassure Hunter they'll look after her, that Echo is waiting for them. Wrecker appears behind them, chastises Omega for trying to leave without saying goodbye.
Conversations about rebellion and how the fight is going. Omega hugs Hunter and Wrecker and goes to get onto the ship.
Hunter, Wrecker, Tech and Crosshair all share an embrace. He murmurs about her being their little girl. They all smile and agree. Only she's not so little any more.
As Hunter and Wrecker watch the ship take off, the Bad Batch theme plays full force once more.
Their legacy lives.

a little rant abt kevjean
saw this post by @back2beesness and i have about a billion thoughts so i'll make a separate post instead of making an excessively long addition
disclaimer: these are simply my very personal opinions and feelings on them and you do not have to agree !
i've never shipped it. not in the way that i wanted them to get together. but not because i doubted they ever loved eachother (romantic or platonic). i just don't think it'd be good for anyone from the nest to be in a relationship. this is one of the reasons i cannot stand thea and kevin but that's a different rant for another time
nora confirming in the sunshine court that jean loved kevin absolutely shattered my heart. i always kind of assumed he did. it was a headcanon, if you will. but having that confirmed was a fucking gut-punch like none other. i'm not religious but i pray for anyone who ever has and ever will fall for Kevin Eyes-For-Nothing-But-The-Court Day.
when i first finished the first three books, before entering the fandom space, i liked jeanee. they were cute enough, but i knew almost nothing about jean yet. they were that one couple that just,, made sense. i could see it happening and i didn't hate it. she's her superhero, you know ? then i entered the fandom space. i was reminded very abruptly of jean's transfer to USC. to jeremy knox. i never looked back; not really.
i quickly found out abt the infamous (now removed) "extra content". i read all of it. now, i know the fandom has long been very split on whether we want to take anything from the extra content as canon, but jean's section ? oh man. it was confirmed jeanee wouldn't be endgame and at that point i was long moved on from them. i was shoulders-deep in jerejean already. but jean's section ?
holy fuck. it cemented my opinion that no one from the nest, especially jean, should ever be in a relationship with another raven. he deserves to cut any and all ties to that place and never look back.
he can't do that. he'll most likely never be truly free from the moriyamas for as long as he lives. not unless someone takes out the entire family. and he doesn't want to let go of kevin. he's moved on from wanting him in the way he once did, but they can still be sort-of-friends.
i still keep thinking about what could've been. if it weren't for the moriyamas, for riko (for renee and jeremy). could they have been more than sort-of-friends ?

Because I cannot go five seconds without smashing my interests together, here is which tma fear entity the ibvs characters would (!in my opinion!) align with; (feel free to ignore I'm rambling)
Isaac - the lonely, right off the bat this one is self explanatory,an introvert, no friends and everything else yada yada you have read the fic. He's with the lonely, but less in a enthusiastic way? More in a doesn't really want to be lonely but kinda fell into it on accident way? His power is definitely spiral coded tho.
Edward - the eye!!!!! His weird hunches?Eye coded. Him literally showing up on Isaac doorstep? Eye coded. The fucking binoculares? Eye coded. He was also the one who wanted to start the investigation club in the first place, which come oonnn.
Chris - The corruption. This is a big "hear me out' moment so hear me out. The way Everyone just likes him? He just walks in and everybody loves him for some reason?Mhm, exactly. The way you could technically see Charlie as a parasite? Yeah that's corruption coded. I know I'm kinda reaching here but think about it tho, like really think about it. It makes sense in my head. I'd say his power is slaughter coded? Like only the sword specifically.
Drew - The flesh. This is another hear me out moment but this time I don't really have a good explanation for it. All the scenes where he heals people seem kinda flesh coded to me? Sticking your fingers into a wound? Also healing could be seen as body manipulation but now I'm really doing mental gymnastics. Maybe the lonely in season 1. MAYBE the vast but I have absolutely nothing to back me up on that. The corruption could also still be an option here if I find a way to connect it somehow. Drew doesn't fit neatly into any of the categories so I'm having troubles.
Nevin - The web. He is a manipulative little ass, that's the explanation. If you wanna go the other route and connect it to his weird goop powers instead I GUESS the corruption.
Barry - Also the eye. He literally made an entire PowerPoint in the background. He gets called the "lore keeper" multiple times.
Dez - Again the eye. I guess technically everyone in the club could be aligned with the eye? Anyway, her cornering Isaac in that one chapter felt especially eye coded to me, kind off in "give a statement" way. Anyway girly pop who summons demons for the fuck of it and explores random buildings that are supposed to be haunted? Eye coded. Her power, is leaning more towards the vast I think? I'm not sure
Niki - also the web. The floor plan thing from late season 1, that's web coded. Also she just gives me that vibe. Maybe the desolation but I don't think she is quite evil enough for that.
Rachel - the stranger, she got possessed TWICE which is kindaaaaa like demons wearing your skin, so, stranger. Possession in general feels stranger coded to me.
Felix- the slaughter, because he makes me want to commit acts of undescribable violence (and everyone else around him too)
Charlie - The slaughter because he wants to commit acts of undescribable violence. In the name of justice of course. maybe the hunt, but I'm leaning more towards slaughter.
Fresh/Dillain - the spiral. Neon outfits? Spiral. The way he talks? Spiral. I think he also might be a bit insane so, spiral. Spiral overall.
Louis - The hunt. his entire families schtick is banishing demons and shit, that's the hunt. That's it's entire thing just less physical violence and murder.
Cody - the flesh. Lmao. He strong
Reuben/Cory - the end. One can kill shit with a touch the other sees ghosts. Don't even.
Geno - the dark. No real explanation aside from him having albinism and not being able to go into the sun (thats such a great concept for a dark avatar)
Tiny extremely oversimplified explanation of the fears so this at least somewhat makes sense; The eye - watching and knowing shit. The spiral - insanity, stranger - Uncanny valley horror, the flesh - meat, the corruption - bugs, disease (specifically for this post it's also about love/company), the end- death, the dark - darkness, the web - manipulation/control/spiders, the slaughter - violence/blood, the hunt - Hunting, the lonely - loneliness, the vast - big space/insignificance

Lestat and Louis at the start of TTOTBT
Ok, I’m reading Chapter 7 of The Tale of the Body Thief & would love to hear everyone’s thoughts, because to me it is like - why is Lestat really going to see Louis here? Is he going in some way to say goodbye? Is he going to Louis really to in some subconscious way, beg him to give him reason to keep on existing? Does he really think Louis will approve of his (bonkers!) mission!!?! Of course he won't!
Just before he arrives, Lestat talks of how Louis lives in ramshackle conditions & he feels like Louis on some level would love Lestat to pull him out of it all and into the luxury Lestat loves... and how Louis seems to love this luxury when he visits Lestat. Is this all a way of reflecting something Lestat is feeling himself on some level?…
Then, Louis is horrified to see Lestat's appearance and to realise that Lestat tried to kill himself, but Lestat brushes it off as if it were nothing and as if he truly didn't believe he could die and to be suicidal is nothing at all. He minimises it (as he also does for us readers) & tells Louis about his plan with the body thief, as if Louis will be excited.
Louis admonishes him & tells him he’ll kill Raglan James if he sees him. Lestat makes a jibe about the time Louis saw him in New Orleans post-Paris being untrue - alluding to the other time Louis experienced Lestat essentially suicidal, and indeed in way more ramshackle conditions than Louis now lives in… and they have spat about lies and truth and at the end of it Lestat says of Louis:
“He seemed tormented in some deep way, as if my words had caused him pain.”
Well they had, Lestat! Lestat talks of lying to himself before this moment in TTOTBT & personally I absolutely think he’s doing it here. After all, he just tried to kill himself. That did happen. Now he wants to become mortal via an interaction with a human he himself doesn’t like & sees is immoral and untrustworthy and has bad vibes. Why is it Lestat is *excited*? Well, as a mortal, he can still die! He’s still dreaming of his mortal life in Paris just as he was before he went into the Gobi Desert! He is still seeing Claudia, as he was then. His mindset is really no better than it was before that suicide attempt. In fact, it is worse, because now he knows he cannot kill himself by going into the sun! That has to cause a deeper crisis!
Why doesn’t Lestat care what will haven to his powerful immortal body & what havoc could be wreaked? Because on some level, he thinks he will (or at least is drawn to the idea that he could) die.
Lestat: “My suspicion is that we know a great deal of each other’s feelings and longings; only the amplification is too loud for any distinct image to come clear.” (Re: fledglings & makers not being able to communicate.) Why YES Lestat! Louis sees you as you avoid seeing your self!!!! 😭
“I found him still at his desk, looking at me in the most forlorn, almost heartbroken way.”
Louis sees you, Lestat!!!!!
Lestat on Louis: He grew reflective again and very sad….*snip*
“I love you,” he said softly. (Louis to Lestat)
And... (still Louis to Lestat when Lestat bemoans everyone telling him to stop being stupid...)
“Well, of course, you pick the voices that scold you. You always have, in the same manner in which you pick those who willl turn on you and stick the knife right into your heart.”
And all this time, Lestat wanders New Orleans observing the beauty and the charges over time. Reminiscing, looking at the stars, at the weeds, at the water and bridges, at the houses. Trying to conceive of New Orleans’ future. He sits in churches & contemplates existence and God and... is he truly in an excited headspace, merely wanting to be mortal 'as any vampire desires'? Obviously not.
I sense Lestat’s underlying despair still there: a deep chasm. And what does Lestat do when in despair. Well, he doesn’t dwell in it like Louis - he tries his very best to ignore it if he can. He'll ignore it and ignore it and ignore it until it absolutely almost destroys him. He does it over and over again. But for now: if he can find the most extravagant distraction or scheme then it’s a YES PLEASE from Lestat!!!...
“Something dreadful’s going to happen to you again. You’re going to see to it. I know.” (Louis, to Lestat)
There's just so much sadness in this chapter and it is so long since I read it, I had forgotten the depths of it and I just love how you can feel it without it all being put into words. Of course, as this isn't all in words, I do wonder if everyone feels it the same way I do?
Do you?

Every description about Nico (especially the canon ones) describing him as “cold” can personally fight me. Nico is jaded, yes, and often closed-off and sometimes stand-offish and defensive but he is not "cold”. He cares SO SO SO MUCH about EVERYONE. He loves and cares with his entire heart constantly and that is a core part of his character. He doesn’t often make public shows of his affection but he takes care to be kind when it matters and doesn’t hide that he does care (usually, the only exception really being him being in the closet, but even then he only hid his crush specifically and not the fact that Percy is important to him). He fine with hugging his friends in front of a crowd and will sit with strangers at a campfire just so they’re not alone. I mean, heck, he’s an extrovert! We know this! He actively seeks out people and gets lonely very quickly and easily! If he can’t talk to living people he will chat with the dead! That’s how much he thrives on being social!
The only time Nico has ever been actively “cold” was the couple of months between TTC and BoTL when he was actively mourning Bianca. Nico is not “cold.” He loves so much and he does show it, just in his own way.
#pjo#riordanverse#nico di angelo#analysis#brought to you by: I saw a blurb for TSATS that said something like ''Will melted through Nico's icy heart/cold exterior''#and it made me want to tear something apart with my teeth because of how Blatantly Incorrect that is#like that is a disservice to both their characters.#a.) Will did not ''fix'' Nico or ''change'' him or anything. He is just a source of joy in Nico's life#TOA even explicitly acknowledges that them dating did not ''fix'' Nico and that Nico is actively getting outside help for his trauma/etc#and b.) Nico is not cold!!! He has never been a cold person!!! there's a reason ''emo'' is short for ''emotional!''#Nico's character is ENTIRELY DRIVEN BY LOVE AND CARE FOR OTHER PEOPLE#yes he's jaded but he's only jaded in a way of being afraid of letting people into his life because he's afraid to lose them#not that it stops him because it sure does keep happening anyways because SURPRISE. HE LOVES TOO MUCH.#HE LITERALLY CANNOT HELP HIMSELF HE LOVES PEOPLE SO STRONGLY AND SO DEEPLY HE CANNOT STAY JADED ABOUT IT#he just keeps going ''Okay *THIS* time I won't let this person into my life to risk heartbreak- AW FUCK I'VE DONE IT AGAIN''#SO MUCH of his character is entirely driven by ''I care about people. I dont want them to suffer what i have suffered or suffer at all''#like really the only times we ever see Nico being actively angry/snappy at people#is like a.) He is either actively being majorly hurt or has just recently been majorly hurt (Bianca's death. Being outed. etc)#b.) Someone is hurting others is going to bring harm to others (Calling out his dad in TLO. Killing Bryce)#or c.) Someone is doubting or calling into question his lived experiences (Basically any scene where people say he's pushing people away)#other than that Nico actually tends to give people way more lenience than necessary. he will put up with a LOT#and he won't even call people out on it or hold a grudge about it (i see you alleged Nico's fatal flaw. you're wrong)#unless it's like. something A Lot Of People Do Often (ex: push him away/exclude him/etc)#at which point he might be like. mildly upset about it but not much more then that. which is just a normal measured response.#anyways Nico's not cold he's just autistic

you can't reclaim a word that's never been used against you
#if you've never been called fat before please dont use that word#as someone who has been called fat a lot in my life in very painful ways... y'all dont get it#and i dont want people within a hundred feet of a word they dont understand the connotation/power of#im really just sad and tired of seeing non-fat people call ashton fat. because it just Keeps happening a *lot* and i just like#cannot stomach it at this point. i mean i literally see it FREQUENTLY and now ive just seen some stuff about it on my dash tonight and like#it brings me to tears literally every single time i see it. and i *never* see fat people call ashton fat ever. it is *only* non-fat people#and it's because they just simply do not understand how that word feels. and i shouldn't necessarily fault people for it BC they dont get i#but people writing feeder fics about him?? and going out of their way to describe his body in a way they never would a thin person's...#and more than that. like. he's not *fat*???? that's just not the right word. sure he HAS fat. everyone does#but calling him fat pointblank is just like... i do not see the benefit in it. he's Big. he's Muscular. but he's not *fat*#and it makes me think that you dont know any fat people. when that word has only ever been used in a derogatory manner by the majority#i mean that is NOT a neutral word. at this point in history. and if you have never experienced the harm that it can bring i just#i mean i dont know why you *want* to be using it#so yeah uh saying my bit on that bc y'all know me#im a little blabber box chatter mouth#and it's just something that i see a lot of especially on ao3 and one of the primary reasons actually that#i dont really read new fics by authors i dont know#because the way people treat ashton's body is very different than how they treat others'#and it's usually not fat people creating that content SO!#please uh consider maybe the words you're using... and how they could affect others!#ok i have a lot of homework to do tonight so im gonna. hunker down and do that#and feel Not Good about my body because if you think *ashton irwin* is *fat* then#i dont really want to know what you think about an actual fat person

Tumblr media
I feel like tags like these were inevitable on the post about people traumatising themselves for the greater good or w/e... There is SO much emphasis on posting on tumblr and other social media being so important and so useful and we must never stop. But I would like to counterargue with the idea that posting on social media (especially tumblr) constantly does very little/nothing. If that was true then the point here becomes meaningless.
#i guess i must be broken according to this person because i don't seem to feel emotions the way they feel helps palestine#activists in palestine are also calling for a general strike where no one goes to work and that has yet to materialise in a meaningful way#because people keep watering it down by saying 'oh it's ok just post constantly/about nothing else than palestine on social media'#yeah awesome great- look i'm sure there are people in palestine saying get the word out about our suffering etc#but they are also calling for more meaningful symbolic gestures like strikes which as far as I know no western country has delivered#because that would take a lot of organising and much less guilt tripping and people spending all their time posting#and comfort always comes up- comfort and discomfort- what even is comfort?#is feeling ok in your own mind an insult to palestine?#are there people losing everything in wars feeling better because someone in the west feels really really bad about their pain?#like sorry to be facetious but what on earth does any of this rhetoric accomplish#i spent years thinking like this and it made me so sick and now i'm better i am DONE with it- i cannot go back to this thinking#i can only live if i bend away from this kind of thinking like a plant to light- and i want to help others but people just won't stop#please- post on social media if you like. it doesn't help anyone to view the depths of their pain and feel bad#it is better to look towards hope a ceasefire and a resolution and end to the killing of palestinians for good#that can happen!!!#i think avoiding misinformation and dehumanising rhetoric about either side is also very important#i fully believe you can only understand geopolitics and war if you see everyone as human

look i love my asexual headcanons to death and what i’m about to say in no way discounts said asexual headcanons. with that disclosed i do not think aziraphale is a “virgin” (<- virginity isn’t real but you get my point) take one look at that angel and tell me he didn’t go to bacchanals i mean come the fuck on
#marzi speaks#i have no opinion nor do i care about whether people think crowley fucks. i think it’s funny if he doesn’t but i could see it either way#but aziraphale? while i don’t think it’s his favorite thing in the world you cannot tell me he never dabbled#bacchanals (and dionysian raves before that) seem right up his alley#plus there’s the fucking. ‘discreet gentlemen’s club’ (THE FUCKING HUNDRED GUINEAS CLUB??? SIR.)#and this guy lives in soho!!!! i mean truly#i don’t think he really seeks sex out or anything#i mean there’s those diary entries where he turns down the woman who essentially flashes him (and i believe a man later?)#so like he’s clearly not someone who really wants sex that much#but there’s no way in hell he never tried it at least once. he’s wayyyy too curious for that#i have a feeling he really stopped ‘trying it out’ after 1941 though. i feel like after he realizes just how deeply he feels for crowley#he’d like. feel Extra Weird about having sex with anyone else#especially bc he isn’t attracted to humans (perhaps beyond like aesthetic attraction)#but he’s definitely dabbled#crowley? could go either way. on one hand: demon. temptations. et cetera#on the other: he’s far less cool than he acts and while having sex isn’t necessarily cool it feels like smth he’d lie about to seem cooler#plus i doubt he’d ever really have any proper interest in humans. probably even less so than aziraphale#see this still coincides with the asexual headcanons. it’s chill 👍
