#I also like the ship tropes that’s very bittersweet and still have flaws but they help each other grow as a person

how u draw eddie and barnaby is so silly and goofy like marketable plushies
Tumblr media
I sometimes get cuteness aggression when I draw them in the cutesy way (for example eddie right now)
And then another side of me wants to draw them in this out of pocket way with very detailed expressions

2, 8, & 21 for the fandom asks?
a headcanon you weren't sure about at first but have come to like!
Not a headcanon, but more a production decision -- I used to HATE the original ending in Chess, where Anatoly decides that he's essentially his only priority, that the women in his life are annoyances, and he's going to win the chess competition for himself. It went up against every single romantic notion I had; I much preferred the bittersweet ending where he sacrificed the game to save Florence's father, proving that his love for her was true even though they might never meet again.
As I've gotten older and I've grown to understand human nature better, the more I liked the other ending, particularly the anger that both Svetlana and Florence have for him, his frustration, his ambition, the selfishness that was always there (leaving his wife alone in Russia while he was living with another woman in London.) You are dealing with a bunch of very deeply flawed characters who are in the middle of this political powder keg; they don't need to behave nobly or even rationally. It isn't romantic, but Chess is such a deeply cynical musical that it makes sense to me now. [I also understand Freddy/Florence now, even if it still isn't my ship of choice (man's either aro, ace, gay, or any combination of the two), purely as two people with a lot of history between the two of them that no one else can get.]
you hope more people will come to appreciate ___ (a ship, a trope, an episode, etc)
See, I'm antisocial at heart -- I don't really WANT more people to pay attention to things I like, because (1) it upsets me out of my niche and (2) invites discourse and chaos. There are times I'd like more material, or have more people to talk over things with, but I'm also very good at dragging my friends into my special interests.
I just find, in general, that larger fandom environments aren't the healthiest for me. I don't want to be a BNF™, especially since I don't have the energy, but I also don't want to be swept away either. I like playing in my own little corner with a few other people.
...that being said. More Mina/Van Helsing from Dracula the Musical, please, my crops are dying and I miss my Parents.
a fandom you're not active in anymore but that you still really like
Terra Nova, my beloved, stupid dinosaur TV show, forever in my heart.

2020 End of Year Post - kdrama edition
You can find my 2020 cdrama post here: dangermousie.tumblr.com/post/638449659546845184/2020-end-of-year-post-cdrama-edition
This is only going to cover kdramas that aired in 2020; if it originally aired another year, it’s not on this list.
It’s been a pretty lackluster kdrama year. There are probably only 5 kdramas I truly loved and only three of them I was really obsessed over. Better luck in 2021!
DRAMAS WATCHED
(In order of liking from least to most as opposed to pure quality; I am including if I’ve seen enough to make up my mind; yes I realize that’s inaccurate, but that’s my list)
42 Born Again - so bad, so incoherent, so insane, I have no idea why the leads signed up for it (and unlike some of the other watchers, I think it was awful from the very start.) There is literally nothing about this drama that makes sense.
41 Love with Flaws - a bunch of people who should be tried under the Geneva Convention.
40 Sweet Munchies - Jung Il Woo proves his inability to pick a functional script.
39 Meow the Secret Boy - if you ever wanted to bang a cat, this drama is for you. Not being a furry, however...
38 Do Do Sol Sol La Sol - I lost braincells just typing out this title.
37 When I Was the Most Beautiful - the only way it’s not the dumbest, most pointless melo of 2020 is because Born Again considerately came out the same year.
36 Woman of 9.9 Billion - if you want to watch an artsy French movie about miserable people, but only badly made, boy do I have a drama for you.
35 Lies after Lies - screams after screams.
34 Backstreet Rookie - people were up in arms about various problematic plots. I am a survivor of many plots much more problematic but even I couldn’t survive how utterly boring and annoying this drama was and how utterly irritating the leads were. This has taken Ji Chang Wook off my top favorites into “should I even check his latest Lovestruck in the City? Probably not” territory almost single-handedly (Melt Me helped, to be fair.)
33 Men Are Men - boring is boring.
32 Dinner Mate - two beautiful boring people eat out a lot.
31 Was It Love - no it wasn’t.
30 Alice - Joo Won in the shower can make up for a multitude of sins but not plot nonsense of such magnitude. When you find yourself thinking it would be better if he hooked up with the alternate universe version of his mother because at least then something entertaining would happen, you know it’s bad.
29 More than Friends - started out OK, then made me hate basically everyone and kept going.
28 Start-Up - honestly, it’s probably more decent than its place here, but the toxic and batshit fandom for it (the worst this year) made me feel like breaking out in hives any time it’s even mentioned.
27 The Spies who Loved Me - how to take a good cast and waste it.
26 Private Lives - it was good but it never took off with its concept and spent more time on the incoherent plot than the OTP which was its one strength. It’s a decent drama but coming after Heartless City and My Beautiful Bride from the same writer, it’s a disappointment.
25 Record of Youth - as high as it is due to Park Bo Gum hard carrying this entire awful drama on his shoulders and doing it so well I finished it. Alas, while he is in one drama (and that drama is great), the rest of the characters and the entirety of the script are a pointless useless mess.
24 Do You Like Brahms - excellent first third, mediocre middle, and terrible last third. I don’t know what musical term applies to this? Diminuendo, I think.
23 I’ll Go to You When the Weather is Nice - nice and mellow but nothing much happens.
22 Forest - mainly for Park Hae Jin’s excellent and frequently naked bod.
21 The Ballot - I didn’t love it as much as everyone did but it was well-made.
20 Hyena - more romance and less weird law stuff would make it better.
19 365 Repeat the Year - surprisingly solid.
18 The Game Towards Zero - see 365.
17 When My Love Blooms - very old fashioned, very lovely.
16 Chocolate - also very old fashioned and very lovely but also with Yoon Kye Sang performing medical procedures bleeding and shirtless. MMM.
15 (tie) Secret Royal Inspector - a fun if run of the mill sageuk.
15 Find Me In Your Memory - best melo this year.
14 Mystic Pop Up Bar - surprisingly good even though I wasn’t planning to check it out.
13 Where Your Eyes Linger - came out of nowhere but was tender and hopeful and lovely.
12 Itaewon Class - Park Seo Joon hard carries a drama that is already excellent. Love it.
11 Psychopath Diary - Yoon Shi Yoon is such a treat in a hilarious, cynical, dark comedy.
10 Kairos - more like ouroboros.
9 Queen Love and War - in a year where sageuks are very rare, this was solid and surprisingly moving and shippy.
8 The King Eternal Monarch - people didn’t like it but I did. It’s no masterpiece and both the leads and the writers have better dramas, but it was a lovely romantic fairy tale for me.
7 Mr. Queen - sharp, hilarious, and some of my favorite actors.
6 Psycho But It’s OK - healing, sharp cinematography and even sharper chemistry.
5 Crash Landing on You - the last ep pissed me off so much this drama is dead to me but I loved it so much until then I can’t place it lower in good conscience.
4 Train - who knew I would go this hard for an OCN drama or that OCN would do romance so well? But this time-travel mystery romance is just incredible and I shipped the OTP and rooted for the characters and loved every last bit of it.
3 Run On - this is the drama Record of Youth wanted to be but failed. Smart and lived in, you feel like you are peeking at real people, but also even four episodes in, I am so invested in the main characters separately and together, and care for them so much, it’s a little frightening.
1 (tie) Tale of the Nine Tailed - my perfect fantasy romance. I liked it better than Goblin, yeah I said it.
1 Flower of Evil - all the tropes I love in one incredible package. I would rewatch episodes waiting for new ones trying to puzzle the story and to stay withdrawal but it works just as well on rewatch. Lee Jun Ki brings his trademark tortured intensity and for once, both his leading lady and his script back him up and are worthy of that. It’s perfect.
FAVORITE DRAMA
It’s a tie between Tale of the Nine Tailed and Flower of Evil but if I had to pick just one, FoE, because it had me seriously obsessed and guessing about the protagonist and gave me the narrative tropes I love so much and an OTP that statisfied all my hurt/comfort kinks and then some.
WORST DRAMA
Born Again - honestly, this is so bonkers it almost becomes good but alas...
FAVORITE MALE CHARACTER
Do Hyun Soo/Baek Hee Sung, Flower of Evil - he is so messed up, so on edge, so traumatized. Yet capable of so much warmth and caring even as he himself doesn’t realize his humanity. FoE is basically a story of a man pushed and punished by the world for his entire life who, because of one woman, finds a safe place and peace and slowly comes to life without realizing it, and watching his desperation to keep this small bit of normalcy is so heartbreaking and exciting all at once. Plus, you start the drama thinking he’s a psychopathic serial killer and end it (if you are me) thinking he must be protected at all costs and if anyone even looks at him wrong they must suffer, and that’s quite a change!
FAVORITE FEMALE CHARACTER
Nam Ji Ah, Tale of the Nine Tailed - she is so funny and tough and smart and loving and amazing that I will totally buy that a literal demi-god will do anything and everything for her and love her for literal eternity.
NEEDS TO BE MURDERED
Dad in Record of Youth - yes in a year with serial killers and supernatural demons, I picked a normal character from a mediocre drama. It’s his everyday awfulness to his family that hits so hard and I am sad he never got his comeuppance.
FAVORITE SHIP
Ji Ah x Yeon - a fearless reporter and an immortal demi-god who’s been hoping for his human beloved to reincarnate. A really rare set-up where the OTP is equally ride or die, so compatible and completely BAMF. I got why he waited for her for that long and then fell in love with her all over again. Perfection.
Runner up: Flower of Evil - he is so messed up he literally does not believe he is capable of love or empathy, but he falls in love with her anyway and so utterly she permeates his entire life. She is tough as nails and only believes what she sees and is the sole person who believes in him against the world. She loves him but he needs her. She needs him but he loves her. They are amazing.
FAVORITE SECONDARY OTP
Seo Dan x Gu Seung Jun, Crash Landing on You, North Korean x Conman were so good I shipped them harder than the main OTP and the end of that storyline pissed me off so much I dumped the drama and didn’t finish it for months (and it’s still dead to me.)
NOTP
Record of Youth - it started out and they didn’t have much chemistry but the dialogues were interesting and I thought the chemistry would grow. It didn’t and deteriorated, their dialogues became boring and relationship had zero development (about as much as the supposed female lead.) I think we were supposed to feel bad they broke up and they were going for a bittersweet open ending, instead I found myself happy about the break up of two incompatible, chemistry-less people and hoping for the love of God they never get back together.
FAVORITE SCENE
Yeon and the bridge of knives, Tale of the Nine Tailed - Yeon choosing to undergo the creeptastic bridge of knives for a chance to save Ji Ah, who at that point he is not aware is the reincarnation of his Joseon love because, as he says, he doesn’t care if she is or isn’t, it just would be more horrible to have her die than to undergo the horrific torture he is undergoing, and then the sequence with his catching her, her weeping over him and the fact that she is the original Joseon girl revealed and all the bandaging and his watching her sleep and all that loveliness, is everything for yours truly.
Runner up: Hyun Soo having that break-down at the cliff at the end of ep 15 of Flower of Evil as Ji Won desperately tries to convince him she is alive and he finally stumbles to her.
Runner runner up (it’s my list, I will do what I want): Do Won preparing to blow his brains out to give a chance to Seo Kyung to live in Train.
BIGGEST CRUSH
Seon-Gyeom, Run On. Yeah, I know. Im Siwan is tiny, delicate featured and has a runner’s build, none of which are things that normally appeal to me. But his character is so odd, so honest, so unflinching in pursuing what he thinks is right, so incapable of self-pity despite plenty of reasons for it, and so ridiculously attractive when he smiles, I don’t even care.
BEST SCENE STEALER CHARACTER
Kim Bum, TotNT - I started out being annoyed by him and ended up looking forward to his scenes and being distraught by his ending.
NEEDS A SEQUEL
Honestly, none. I was fine with all the endings. I wouldn’t mind seeing post-end life of Tale of the Nine Tailed characters or the OTP settling into their literal new world in Train, but I am good.
TROPE THAT NEEDS TO DIE
Time jump that solves all the problems off screen or alternatively years pass and everyone is frozen - something that kdramas need to learn and need to learn badly. See Record of Youth, Brahms and Start Up.
FAVORITE TROPE WE’VE SEEN A LOT OF
Men who are ride or die for their OTP - this was a great year for this - the male leads of four of my five dramas were beyond anything on that scale (only exception is Run On because it’s still too early to tell there.) Yes PLEASE.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT
This was a banner year for that what with Start Up, Do You Like Brahms, Record of Youth, and Private Lives all starting out well and nosediving off the cliff but winner is Crash Landing on You. I loved it so much for bulk of its run but the last episode pissed me off so much I deleted all my files and called it a day.
BIGGEST GOOD SURPRISE
Flower of Evil - I had no expectations of this drama and wasn’t even planning on watching it despite liking both the lead actors because yet another “look at evil serial killer be evil” drama with no romance was not my thing. Luckily someone convinced me there might be some romance and I peeked curiously. Honestly, their promo campaign was the most misleading and dumbest thing ever.
Runner up Psycho but it’s OK - I have never liked Kim Soo Hyun in anything before and the drama premise seemed WTF but it was shockingly good and KSH totally blew me away.
Hardest Working Lead
Yoon Shi Yoon - he starred in two (!!!) dramas in 2020 playing three characters and not only were both these dramas awesome in a lackluster year, but if it wasn’t for the fact that I knew it was the same actor and the fact that the characters shared a face, I would have never believed that they were played by the same actor. So good!
2020 DRAMAS I HAVEN’T SEEN THAT I MOST WANT TO WATCH
None. Covid Year gave me PLENTY of time
BEST NON-2020 DRAMA I’VE WATCHED IN 2020
My Beautiful Bride and Deserving of the Name - I was obsessed with both of them and honestly, they were much better than the bulk of 2020 kdramas I watched.
MOST ANTICIPATED IN 2021
The Moon That Rises in the Day, Hong Chun Gi, Joseon Exorcist, Island,  Frightening Cohabitation, Snowdrop.

Not-so-final thoughts on Luoyang
Tumblr media
Since I managed to summarize my feelings about this show on another site, I’m posting here to save it (for now) before it’s lost in the stream. Obviously major spoilers below.
Luoyang is my favorite Chinese Drama ever - beautiful cinematography, lovely sets/costumes/eye candy, relatively little filler, three very intriguing major characters, and a period drama to boot. Oh yeah, and a soundtrack I'd love to actually buy but don't see for sale anywhere. I absolutely loved how the three characters started investigating along separate lines and arrived at the same point to work together. And chef's kiss for the somewhat subtle foreshadowing with relatively slow revelations - my favorite way to progress (not too subtle to miss, just enough to make me check the "I might suspect this person down the road" box).
While I'm still not sure why Yibo is so popular (maybe because I'm an old lady), I thought his portrayal of Hongyi was fantastic. However, I really, really loved Huang Xuan (Gao Bingzhu) and Victoria Song's (Wu Siyue) portrayal of their characters even more. I am also firmly in the not-a-fan of Liu Ran's character, not the least because I couldn't see how she and Siyue would be best friends, but I get what her role was supposed to be (not that I thought she needed all that screen time). I often start to fast forward through some lengthy CDramas (Ancient Love Poetry, I'm looking at you) and reluctantly get back to finish them, but with Luoyang, I almost felt like 39 episodes was too short. Almost.
Because I enjoyed the show so much, I can even almost forgive my canon ship sinking at the end. That upset me most. I don't need a full-blown romance (in fact, I prefer it when the romance isn't the center story), but I wouldn't have minded a happier ending. I would have cut the Liu brother angle completely (and then Siyue's death didn't have to happen). I haven't read the novel, so don't know if there was more leadup there, but his plot thread seemed designed specifically to kill off a beloved character just for the hell of it, and that ticks me off. I like bittersweet when it makes sense, but tragedy just because it's an expected trope is not satisfying. Completely unnecessary and ridiculous.
Overall, Luoyang is still my favorite CDrama, though I think the bar is pretty low, because most of the ones I've seen end tragically or are full of filler or can't be bothered to make the characters (especially the women) more than one-dimensional. It's possibly because I tend towards drama in the non-modern wuxia, xianxia, or period historical genres, but I'm not so sure that's really the case.
Anyway, great show, despite all the flaws. 100% would rewatch.

Webtoons are good for the soul PART II - ECLECTIC BOOGALOO
A continuation of this.
Tumblr media
Sea Salt and Sand by neggut [ongoing]
In the autumn holidays 3 months ago, Brynn and Bailey shared a kiss. When Bailey left, Brynn tried to forget all about her and continue living an unremarkable life, only for Bailey to suddenly transfer to her school! What follows is a coming of age story full of pining, misunderstandings and confusion as Brynn and Bailey question the true nature of their relationship.
It’s cute and a bit angsty but not too much. The art style often feels incomplete or rushed but in a good way, its flaws give character to the characters and the story. One of my all time favourites.
Apathy meets labrador/10
Tumblr media
Dragonbourne by Gummy Shark [ongoing]
After a troubled past, Sir Ross Edmund Avery is somewhat content to lead a mundane existence, alone in his house. However, when he stumbles upon a child in the woods on Solstice Night who is anything but mundane, his simple life will be turned upside down.
A scar(r)ed man adopts a feral child, hijinks ensue. Once again, the art style is endearing, full of curves and long lines. Haven’t checked on that one in a while but the first twenty chapters were very promising.
Found family/10
Tumblr media
The Last Human by Zack Jordan [ongoing]
She's the galaxy's worst nightmare: a Human. Fortunately, she's the last one. Now her adoptive (alien) mother is realizing that raising a young Human is no easy task.
Basically the badass and child duo trope but the truth may surprise you. Fun, cute, very wholesome, and surprisingly emotionnaly philosophical at times. Spidermom is best mom.
Recommend/10
Tumblr media
Vampire Husband by Scragony [ongoing]
The life of Charles the Vampire an Cheryl the human after years of marriage.
What if tragic romance between human and vampire but they had their “happy-ever-after”? This is after. It’s funny and cute.
Relationship goals/10
Tumblr media
Blood Stain by sigeel [ongoing]
A story about courage, growing up and finding friendships in most unlikely places... spiced with some MAD SCIENCE!
Haven’t quite wrapped my head around this one yet, but it’s fun and drawn by sigeel (a.k.a. Linda Sejic) so of course it’s beautiful. Enjoyed it a lot, will have to keep reading.
Bloody merry/10
Tumblr media
Punderworld by sigeel [ongoing - on hiatus]
Hades' and Persephone's love-struck misadventures.
Another take on Hades and Persephone’s love story. Once again, sigeel, so of course I love the art.
Bumbling idiots/10
Tumblr media
The Queen and the Woodborn by Shiniez [ongoing]
Far away behind seven hills and seven forests, seven fields and seven rivers, there lived a Queen... welcome to the queen and the woodborn. a fairy tale romance for the mature readers about the unseen Queen and the Goddess in the woods. a tale of the two forgotten by the world around them who will make the world remember their names. expect gods and monsters and a romance for the ages.
Not many chapters yet but very long ones to compensate. This one is by Shiniez (a.k.a. Stjepan Sejic) so, once again, love the art. The story, the character designs and concepts, and the pace are all amazing.
Very wow/10
Tumblr media
P.E.T.S. by Gyxks [ongoing]
Just when Tasha was about to start a new life, she was abducted by aliens. Fortunately, she and other humans were rescued by an interstellar general named Tourmaline. She soon discovered that her body was unfit to return home without endangering life on earth. Join her on her journey traversing this new world and these new feelings for an alien general.
POV: You’re living your best life as a young adult, at the shopping mall at 2am in your pyjamas, when suddenly death aliens rain pain all around and you’re abducted only to be saved by tall buff alien commander lady. Romance ensues. Maybe, it’s slow burn but quite enjoyable to read.
Blush/10
Tumblr media
Scoob and Shag by Misterie Krew [ongoing]
Scoob and his best pal Shag are up to their usual hi-jinks, but everything is not as it seems in their latest adventure.
No relations to any character whatsoever. None. None at all. Also no relations to any kind of sense at all either. Can’t quite explain that one except that it’s genius. Just read it.
Is that a gun?/10
Tumblr media
Bewitched by peachyytown [ongoing]
The witch who keeps "kidnapping" the princess is actually her girlfriend and they're just going on dates.
Short but cute alternative take on all that witch/monster/princess shenanigans. In the same vein as Our days in Lumain. Also the art is very nice.
Meetcute/10
Tumblr media
When the Pink Trees Bear Fruit by neggut [completed]
A sweet love blooms between two women on an orchard in 1973.
A short story, five chapters only, but play devastatingly well with one’s heart. In the same vein as It Stems From Love by Soya S. Holm. neggut ist sehr gut.
Tears/10
Tumblr media
Rooftops & Roommates by Zaanart [ongoing]
Jeb is an architecture major at university, rooming with his best friend Todd. There's just one problem... Jeb’s secretly a gargoyle! Between studying, partying, and a bad ghost problem, will Jeb be able to keep his true identity a secret?
Jeb is sweet, Jeb is fresh, but Jeb is decidedly not very good at keeping a secret. It’s funny, slice-of-life, roommate college shenanigans at its finest. With a magical twist.
Ship/10
Tumblr media
Everything is Fine by Mike Birchall [ongoing]
Sam and Maggie are a normal couple, in a normal house, in a normal neighborhood. There is nothing strange about their heads, their neighbors or their sweet little dog. Everything is Fine.
I haven’t actually started this one yet, but the premise is very very very interesting. Perhaps not for thos who are faint of heart? Deceptively cute. Or is it?
It’s fine/10
Tumblr media
Castle Swimmer by Wendy Lian Martin [ongoing]
What happens when your entire life is ruled by a prophecy – your future foretold by people you’ve never met, who died long before you were born.  Such is the story of two young sea creatures.  One believed to be a guiding light for his people, a Beacon who will lead them to a bright, prosperous future.  The other is a teenage prince for who’s destiny is to KILL the Beacon so that HIS own people might thrive.  When both reject the course set for them, it leads to a raucous adventure as big and unpredictable as the ocean itself – and a romance that nobody could have predicted.
It’s fish. It’s gay. It’s under da sea and ya gotta kiss the boy. I haven’t read it all yet but enough to vouch for it and to have some vested interest in the universe and its lore.
Enemies to lovers/10
Tumblr media
Demon Highschool by Kiiyoko [ongoing]
After a compromise it was agreed that criminals would attend a "demons highschool" where they would work as slaves for demons And while it was all in good favor, things take a very dark and twisted turn at said, highschool.
There’s something, some kind of twist, about the MC which I haven’t gotten to yet, and which I am very interested to discover. I’m not quite sure how I feel about this one as of now, mostly curious I’d say.
Pet/10
Tumblr media
Hooky by Miriam Bonastre Tur [completed]
Dani and Dorian have missed the bus of the school of magic. Now, they must find someone who teach them how to be a great and good witches... Or maybe not.
This one is a strange one about witchery and family. Surprisingly deep and serious at times, very enjoyable. Unfinished on Webtoon but a good start to get into the story.
Siblings/10
Tumblr media
Loving Reaper by Jenny Jinya [ongoing]
Animals struggle. Pets and Wildlife alike. The reaper cares for their stories and helps them with the crossover. Short stories about the "Loving Reaper" to raise awareness and collect funds. Breaking hearts for a good cause.
Beautiful bittersweet stories about animals, pets, life and death and love.
Tissues/10
Tumblr media
Batman: Wayne Family Adventures by StarBite, CRC Payne, Kielamel Siba, Lan Ma, C.M. Cameron, and Camille Cruz [ongoing]
Batman needs a break. But with new vigilante Duke Thomas moving into Wayne Manor and an endless supply of adopted, fostered, and biological superhero children to manage, Bruce Wayne is going to have his hands full. Being a father can't be harder than being Batman, right?
What if Bat-family but happy? Official comic, barely started, very fun.
Wholesome/10
Tumblr media
The First Night With the Duke by MSG, Taeva, from an original work by Hwang DoTol [ongoing]
A handsome, selfish noble falls for a beautiful, kind commoner -- at least, that’s how the story’s supposed to go. When an average college student wakes up as Ripley, an extra in her favorite romance novel, she resolves to enjoy the luxuries of her character’s status while watching the novel's plot unfold from the sidelines. However, her plans are soon derailed when she finds herself in bed with no other than Duke Zeronis, the novel’s hero! Dodging the villainess’ schemes, the Duke’s advances, and her own feelings, can Ripley keep the story on track and survive beyond the first night?
Haven’t read that one but a very dear (and respectable) friend (*cough*  @berigolote  *cough*) of mine keeps pestering me to give it a try. So here it is, try it.
Do it before me and you get a cookie/10
Tumblr media
HEART Anthology by Marvin.W, caw-chan and many other artists. [ongoing]
Featuring stories from the 2020 Short Story Contest!  From wholesome stories to tearjerkers, are you ready to catch these feelings?
A collection of beautiful stories on the shorter side, all about the many kinds of love in life, the many beauties of it, and the pains that make it worth living.
Tears that warm the heart/10
Tumblr media
In My Heart by Redfield42 [ongong]
Sasaki Mari is a typical delinquent troublemaker whose only goal is to get a boyfriend, but due to her reputation as bully and low grades, all the boys reject her. Then she decides to change her style, and asks for help from the student with the best grades in the class.
It starts off light and fund and progressively seems to delve a little bit more into the seriousness of life. Not a tragedy, however, and very much worth a read still.
I think I have a trope I like/10
Tumblr media

Along the lines of Not So Shoujo Love Story, In My Heart, and Susuhara is a Demon. Delinquent/Good Student meetcute, romantinc hijincks ensue.
Seduction/10
Tumblr media
RAINBOW! by Rue & Sunny Gloom [ongoing]
This is the story of a girl named Boo. She has pink hair and a vivid imagination and she is about to discover a side of herself that she never considered before.
Okay, so yes, this one is also also a delinquent meets cute nice girl, but - BUT! - there’s an element of story telling that I love about it: the way we see Boo’s anxiety incorporated visually into the story. Just for that it is one of my favourite recent discoveries!
Protecc/10

Okay, that’s all for part II. Hope you enjoy those as much as I do. Thanks for your attention, sorry for the length and, please, do keep on reading, they all deserve it! As do you.

Top 10 WORST Powerpuff Girls Episodes
For a long time, I have been wanting to make a project resembling a countdown list, being inspired by the likes of @umbramagna777, @phantomstrider and even the Nostalgia Critic. After some considerate years, I have finally decided to make a list based on my all time favorite show The Powerpuff Girls.
Cartoon Network's breakaway hit of the late 90s and early to mid 00s starring three adorable, precocious little kindergartners with superpowers was a cultural phenomenon. Spawning hundreds and thousands of merchandise, a theatrical film, several TV specials, an anime and a reboot, it's unbelievable that a cartoon with an all female lead would become an icon in the cartoon industry.
Created by Craig McCracken fresh off two pilots in the "What A Cartoon" shorts and evolving from the earliest incarnation "Whoopass Stew", The Powerpuff Girls became the highest rated cartoon debut at the time. Critics praised this show for being so unique, entertaining, epic, action packed and nothing like anything else at the time, but most of all, this show was very, very funny.
But that doesn't mean this show gets all the glory and praise 100% per episode, like every television show, there will always be flaws and bad episodes and, the Powerpuff Girls is no exception when it comes to rotten entries in the line-up.
Whether you like these episodes or not, remember to respect each other's opinions, including mine. If you like these episodes, that's great, you're more than welcome to have your say, but be nice.
I am only counting down episodes from the ORIGINAL series, this won't include the movie, the anime, the Dance Pansted special, The tenth anniversary special, the christmas special or especially the reboot.
Mixing either of these up would be one big mess and would derail my points of view. With that being said, let's begin.
NOTE: Spoiler alert ahead.

 10. Keen on Keane   This episode was a new era for the original show, it had a new art style which was first introduced in the movie. So if you hadn't seen it, you would have had to get use to this new art style before getting puzzled or confused.
Unfortunately, these episodes were somewhat mediocre and after 2002, show creator Craig McCracken left the show to Chris Savino, so he could work on Foster's Home for Imaginery Friends. Usually when this happens, that's a sign of a show losing it's...err...Mojo. No pun intended. For a first of this newly animated version of the show, this episode is just ...well...sappy.
So what's the story: It's Valentines Day...oh boy, what a way to start the new era of an already great show. I am NOT a fan of this holiday whether I'm taken or not. I prefer to keep romance and affection personal.
While receiving various little Valentines from her beloved students, Ms. Keane gets the one simple innocent question asked by the girls: "Where are you going out tonight?" and "Who's your sweetheart?" (don't you just love precocious little questions coming from kindergartners). Ms. Keane explains to the girls that she doesn't have time for going out on dates and is too busy for that sort of thing, this leaves the girls slightly worried, knowing she may be lonely and in need of a significant other half.
Later that evening, the girls are all at dinner with the Professor whose attention prompts the innocent, curious little question from an inquisitive Blossom "Why aren't you going out, tonight?".
Personally, if he WAS going out, he may need to hire a babysitter for the girls and knowing the Professor, he may end up calling someone but being delayed or on hold due to everybody with their arms round each other, making googoo eyes and lip wrestling all evening as they bask into their romance.
Anyway, the Professor tells the girls that HE doesn't have time for dates or going out, nor does he have a sweetheart...(hope he hasn't forgotten the events a long time ago when meeting Ima Goodlady who turned out to be using him and was revealed to be Sedusa).
On hearing this, the girls trade rather sly and calculating looks to each other, a plan has hit them. If their father isn't going out and doesn't have a sweetheart and Ms Keane doesn't have a sweetheart, why not get them together for date?
At Ms. Keane's place, she is busy grading homework. On hearing the doorbell ring, she goes to answer the door only to recieve a love letter from a secret admirer and a rose. Oh bittersweet cliches...
Round the same time, the Professor too recieves an identical love letter from a secret admirer (by the way, I do love how he recieves a red rose and Ms Keane recieves a pink rose).  The two admirers meet at "Petes-A Pizza", an obvious parody to Chuck E Cheese, you can just feel how out of place these two are.
Not to hurt each others feelings, the two adults try to strike a conversation, but seem to show no interest in each other, all they can do is slap on a plastic smile each.
As they try to communicate and interact more and order, Ms. Keane suddenly forces a hearty little smile, stunning and questioning the Professor. As she tells him to look behind him, he sees that his own daughters are hiding in the large ball tank, this catches on as both Ms Keane and Professor Utonium have realized that they had been set up.
Unfortunately, the evening was unsuccessful and the Professor offers his date a ride home with three dejected little girls in the back. Their high hopes sunk to the bottom, gone down like a ship, but the Professor tells them if they did end up going out, then he wouldn't have enough time to spend with his own daughters. As he walks her to her door, Ms. Keane trips on a crack, the Professor immediately dashes forward to catch her. After bewilderment and indecision on what to do next, Ms Keane and the Professor's hearts become intertwine. As they stand up straight, they both share a nervous laugh while blushing (by the way, I find this scene amazingly cute, I mean...the Professor here is just...OMG, how can you not just want to reach out and dive into his arms...ahem...).  Finally,  they hold hands and are somehow...in love. Also note this is the only time in the episode where they see each other  face to face. Feeling accomplished, the girls smile knowing that their mission is complete . The following morning, the girls notice that not everything is all hunky-dory! Now having a significant other half, the Professor neglects his family duties and lab work and Ms Keane neglecting her school duties and even forgetting to feed her cat. Why? Because the two most important role models in the girls' lives are now sickeningly sweethearts talking to each other endlessly on the phone together, complete with EVERY single sentence ending with a mushy pet name. And you know what? It's really degrading! Also that phonebill must be really expensive by now,
Because of the neglection, the girls don't know what crimes are being caused....seriously, not even watching the news? Also, doesn't Ms Bellum have a light for a signal? Why couldn't she  just set that up in the sky for them?
But no! Instead, Sara Bellum gets kidnapped while the conversation continues until the Mayor sneezes, causing the couple to realize that they were holding up phoneline and neglecting their duties, including feeding the cat. This upsets the Professor and complains about the past event where a cat made him jump off a building which somehow, Ms Keane doesn't believe and causes them both to suddenly break up. Hmm...like every other couple today right? Okay that was bad.
Overall, this was a weak episode with no crime fighting at all and for a new start of upgraded animation, this was pretty bad. Especially being a Valentines themed episode.

9. City of Clipsville  I ought to let you know that seasons five and six sucked. Big time and this episode is no exception. I am not much of a fan of clip shows and this one was really weak, lame and the repetitive dialogue is as entertaining as a stale book made for toddlers. "Remember when Mojo Jojo turned us into dogs?"...umm...yeah? There's like two episodes with pretty much the same chunks of animation of it and it doesn't help that they referenced BOTH episodes! Also, did we really want to be reminded of some of the more mediocre episodes?
Mind you, most of these little trips down memory lane never happened. These include The Professor marrying Ms Bellum...for some reason, the girls losing their superpowers without realizing until they fall off a building...the Professor turning the girls AND all of Townsville's citizens into helpless infants...(no, seriously...make way for cliche'd moments whenever a baby is in a cartoon, which I'll get to later), complete with Blossom spitting up over the Professor's shoulder.
BUT the most most shameful fan-service cringe-worthy moment would have to be a quote on quote flashback of when the girls sped up time and became teenagers. Oh my god! Just...yeah. Complete with their midriff showing, slender figures, skinny jeans and stereotypical valley girl accents and mannerisms such as blowing bubble gum talking on their cellphones and ...discovering boys, teenage boys...in this case, the Rowdyruff Boys.
Yeah...remember when I said that the whole counterpart thing is a drag, well they do it here too. But this time, they are somewhat getting along, yet the girls are ditzier. I do love some of the hidden innuendos snuck in this scene visually and audibly.
Besides this episode being a weak one, I do admit that I like how the girls looked as teenagers, a bit two fan-service material-esque but still cute. I love how Bubbles still kept her pigtails in, but are a little longer, Blossom's red hair still makes me jealous *seriously...) and Buttercup growing out that little bob, it suits her.
Of course, I can't mention this scene without the fact that it was a reference to Craig McCracken's fan mail he was  receiving from fans about what would happen if the girls and boys were couples. He hated the idea so he decided to poke fun at this little trope.
Interestingly, there was going to be a scene that never made it, but there were storyboards lying around of the teenage girls becoming popstars...obviously a reference to the likes of Mandy Moore, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera and other teen idols, maybe even the lesser known band that have since broke up, No Secrets.
The episode gets more stupid as everyone somehow ends up in the house until the episode ends which turns out to be filmed in front of a "live audience". Yeah, just...weak.
If you do like this episode, that's great, it does have a few funny moments but I still feel like it's just another cheap bland clip show.
Tumblr media
8. Neighbor Hood Good god was this episode lame? The moral was a good one I will admit, but first, the story...Bubbles rushes home from school in time to watch her favorite show: The Wondrous World of Whimsical Willy. Mr. Willy being the host of the show (and an obvious parody of Mr, Rogers) greets his audience warmly, at first, he seems like the typical friendly, harmless, yet unsettling kind of person on a kid's show. He never snaps, he's calm and mellow. But when Daydream Lane loses all of the happiness and joy, Mr Willy asks his audience to hand over all of their cash to him so they don't lose hope.
Being naive and simple, not wanting the show to fall flat with misery, Bubbles somehow breaks into the town hall and takes off with the money in the Mayor's vault and hands it over to Mr Willy and the rest of the crew on set. By the way, the Mayor also donated...yeah, he's a man child. lol
Meanwhile, back at home, after getting a phone call from the Mayor, Buttercup and Blossom notice their sister live on TV with a huge bag of money, thanking Bubbles, Mr Willy and his gang celebrate until Bubbles' sisters barge in telling Mr Willy to literally drop his act.
Sweaty and nervous, Mr Willy finally snaps and reveals his true plan to steal all of the money of Townsville, showing his true colors at last. Bubbles demands an explanation and tells her sisters that Mr. Willy isn't a crook, he just needed the money to help save Daydream Lane. Blossom isn't buying it and tells Bubbles that none of this is real and that the whole set is just canvas painted with scenery and backgrounds and the crew are all crooks in costume.
Now shocked and realizing she had been conned along with the rest of the those who donated, Bubbles loses faith in Mr Willy and the show and even refuses to save his fall. In case you might guess, Mr Willy is arrested and thrown in prison and Bubbles apologizes for her foolish act and also that she shouldn't believe on what she sees on television. In a way, this is a great moral for kids, especially when the main cast are kindergartners, but come on, the girls are more precocious than this, they are better than this. This is basically a weaker version of Film Flam.
This episode is really unsettling for many reasons.  Mr Willy asking for donations from little kids, isn't that a little creepy and somewhat makes him a pedophile? But to go as far as flying all the way to the set on your own and revealing the stolen cash is even more risky and dangerous.
I have read something interesting here from the PPG wikia, this episode was based real-life events in a 1965 New Year incident where Soupy Sales, miffed at having to work on the holiday, ended his live broadcast by encouraging his young viewers to tiptoe into their still-sleeping parents' bedrooms and remove those "funny green pieces of paper with pictures of U.S. Presidents" from their pants and pocketbooks. "Put them in an envelope and mail them to me," Soupy instructed the children. "And I'll send you a postcard from Puerto Rico!" He was then hit with a pie. He later admitted that he was joking and that the money would be donated to a charity, but Sales was negatively affected by the incident.
Also I learned that this episode was actually written back in 1999 as a season 2 episode, but was scrapped since the staff feared a lawsuit from PBS, so instead the story was given to DC Comics named Remote Controlled. The story was much better and less mediocre compared to this one. It's such a downfall when a great cartoon runs it's course and episodes that were originally written for the comics suddenly have elements thrown onto the screen and never live up to how they could have been.
There's something else I would like to point out here. I saw this comment on the PPG wikia by a user named Crossoverfan4ever and he pointed out that Bubbles commited a crime and got away with it, and did she get punished? Of course not, because she's, cute, innocent adorable, precious, sweet little Bubbles who can probably get away with murder if she tried.
So...in A Very Special Blossom, Blossom steals a rather valuable set of golf clubs and gets punished for it with 200 hours of community service, yet the Professor asks the cops to go easy on her and she's also sorry (seriously, you can feel her sorrow in her voice and that face just says it all).
In the fan-loathing controversial episode Moral Decay, Buttercup commits a crime by breaking into the local villains homes and steals their teeth for money from the "tooth fairy" after already beating up crooks for committing crimes. Her punishment: Ambushed by her worst enemies as her sisters sadistically watch her get beat up (note that Buttercup is a little girl, so can you imagine the pain inflicted on her?). Going back to Neighbor Hood, yeah, it's bad. One of season five's worst.
7. Crazy Mixed-Up Puffs
Tumblr media
Season six was definitely the weakest link in the original show's run, so in a way, it's a breath of fresh air when McCracken and Savino declined a season seven from Cartoon Network (much to the disappointment to the fans).
CMUP just made way for some really weak points in writing and character development and derailment. Whichever one, even my feelings for this are mixed up...or mesed up. Whatever!
In this episode, Mojo Jojo is watching old clips of the past fights and battles he has had with the girls and soon stops for an ice cream break. Unforunately, a little girl is in front of him and he deters her. As Mojo orders his three scoops (which happen to resemble the signature colors of the Powerpuff Girls), the little girl throws her ball at him, causing him to drop the ice cream onto the floor. As it does, Mojo gets an idea.
Mojo then goes home to his lair and creates a dummy of a girl calling for help, attracting attention from the Powerpuff Girls, they fly over to save her and are immediately caught in his trap.
The machine swirls the girls together, fusing them all into one and because of this, the girls find it hard to fly, spin and even keep their own balance, not to mention worsening their arguments every single time. It's really unpleasant to watch.
From here, the girls  now have to rely on each other with trust and work as a team to stop Mojo. After finally making their way to Mojo, they defeat him, destroying the fuse machine with a huge blast, but are still stuck together as one.
As they make their way back to the Mayor's office, they get Professor Utonium to try and seperate them. Feeling hopeless, the Professor breaks down into tears knowing that his daughters will never be the same, but they tell him that they don't mind being this close and reassure him that everything is going to be okay. The Mayor finds a thread from their fused dresses and pulls it which somehow...separates the girls restoring them to their glory. I do love when the Professor tells the girls that he loves them all, it's moments like this that always make the show great, it's too bad this episode suffered from mediocicy, unpleasant arguments and...this (Really? After all you've been through, you decide to add this in here?) NOTE: Never let Paul Stec or someone else write a Powerpuff Girls episode storyline which may result into tasteless immature fart jokes...speaking of which...
Tumblr media
6. Reeking Havoc Season six...why? Why did you have to go with this crap? An entire episode about flatulence? Really? Okay, well silently but still visually. I for one don't care for this kind of humor, it's immature, lame, not funny, pointless and...just go watch South Park if you're into that stuff (by the way, I'm a huge fan of South Park, freakin' ironic I know! lol).
The Girls have just returned home from enjoying a beautiful sunny day in spring, admiring the fresh air until their noses are suddenly inflicted with the smell of something ...not so fresh, in this case, chili. Yep! Because how else are the writers going to come up with an episode which is ten minutes of fart jokes. Real mature. Not.
It turns out that the girls father Professor Utonium is cooking this...chili for the "2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off" in Townsville. The girls reluctantly try a sample, as expected by them and those watching, it doesn't go down well (we even see a shot of Buttercup losing it in the waste-bin). Worried that he may lose again, Blossom decides that they should tell the Professor, but her sisters object due to the year before, in which the Professor lost and broke down.
Later that night, the Professor still thinks his chili needs something extra...or should that be "x-tra"...with that, he adds a drop of Chemical X into the concoction. Sure, because somehow that works right? Also, maybe adding COFFEE into the chili is the reason it doesn't taste so good. Later on that night, the girls (one by one) also happen to put a drop of Chemical X in the chili.
The following morning during the annual chili contest, the judges (which happen to be Ms Keane, the Mayor and Sara Bellum) are trying out all the dishes that have been made for the event when soon, they try the Professor's chilli causing reactions that they never experienced before. With that, the Professor is declared the winner of the contest and is awarded the trophy and with that, the Mayor hands out free samples of the prize winning chilli.
What then follows is nothing but flatulent puns, visual and audible, one after the other while everyone's guts start growling and all that gas happens to escape and creates...a giant methane monster. No, seriously! A giant cloud made out of everyone's gas! What were the writers thinking, seriously? It's like they have watched Ren and Stimpy and got some ideas off there, no?
The following day, the methane monster soon causes chaos all over Townsville and his stench is so unbearable that it causes everyone to feel nauseous and complain. This then causes the Mayor to call the girls and...*sighs*...watching them trying to fight off a huge flatulent monster is just...well...yeah. Lame.
As if stinking up the city has already been done in season 2's Down and Dirty, but that as caused by Buttercup refusing to bathe, but nope, we get a full on episode with gastronomical proportions and bad jokes!
From here, we get some rather ridiculously stomach churning moments including the girls actually trying to suck the monster up...err...gross? So...after the mention of a "match", Blossom gets an idea and takes off and returns again in seconds with...a giant match...no seriously AND to make this episode even more cringy, she mentions that she got it from the same place where she got the giant jar in "episode two season one". Was that really necessary?
I don't wanna go on since its pretty cliche'd with the fact that entering a chili cook-off with an ingredient that happens to be linked to chaos, it's obvious what that equals.
This was a bad episode and I mean really really bad. GOLDEN RULE: Keep fart jokes off this show! Oh wait...the reboot pushed that further! *sighs*

5. Gettin' Twiggy With It Consider this the Pet Sitter Pat episode of The Powerpuff Girls. Nearly every character in this show is likable, funny, great, relatable and somehwhat a decent role model. All but one...that being a less major character: the girls class mate Mitch Mitchellson. A sadistic, nasty, evil, selfish, greedy, manipulative  child who takes pleasure in bullying his fellow...ahem...classmates. Think of him as the Nelson Muntz of Townsville. Think of him as Ren Hoek off Ren Seeks Help in Ren and Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon, or maybe even Stewie Griffin. In this episode, it's Friday and that means one of the kids has the responsibility of taking the class hamster Twiggy home. The girls volunteer, but somehow Ms. Keane chooses Mitch to look after her.
This episode is legimately painful to watch in my opinion. As an animal lover (especially hamsters) who hates animal cruelty to a degree couldn't even watch this. It isn't funny, isn't a pleasure to watch, it's just sick, twisted and evil, I'm glad though that the episode itslef wasn't treated as comedic, that would make me up this episode straight to number one in my opinion. Mitch apparently says he never owned a pet before, yet you can clearly see that he has a snake in the background, what the hell?
I like how when Twiggy becomes a vicious monster, the girls do their part to save him, but still teach him a lesson in harming little Twiggy. It's rare for an episode to be played out seriously for the most part, yet this is just so difficult to watch. Especially all the ways Mitch tortures the hamster.
Gettin' Twiggy With It is just nasty and an unwatchable episode. It's unpleasant, demented and just uncomfortable to watch. For a better review on this episode, I suggest reading this: https://www.deviantart.com/regulas314/art/1001-Animations-Gettin-Twiggy-With-It-517452789. He does great reviews and provides decent detail.
Overall, Mitch Mitchellson is hands down my most despised character in The Powerpuff Girls, maybe even worse than Princess Morbucks. And that's saying a lot.
Tumblr media
4. Girls Gone Mild I don't think there's one countdown of top ten worst PPG without this episode at least appearing on there. It's bad, the story, the premise, the fact that this episode was inspired by letters Craig McCracken received from parents thinking the violence was appropriate as a defence, pretty much the Three Girls and A Monster of the Chris Savino era. This episode is basically like a reminder that parents and legal guardians are the ones who should ultimately take responsibility for their children's actions instead of just blaming other people for it. But for what it is, it's not funny or entertaining and definitely one worth skipping. Need I point out that the two people of "P.A.P.P" (People Against Powerpuff Girls) were played by the same people behind the voices of Cosmo and Wanda from The Fairly Odd Parents?
But seriously, where do these two come from? Clearly not from Townsville otherwise they'd be more than happy to ask for the girls help, but no, instead they eat everything up with complaints and threaten to sue the Professor if the girls start using their superpowers again. I hate tropes like this, especially when we all know in the end, they go back to normal and do what they do best. Now if only they were kicking Stanley and Sandra Practice's butts instead.
Tumblr media
3. Moral Decay *sighs* some of you have definitely seen this one coming but you can see why. It's one of the most unpleasant, mean spirited and degrading episodes of the Craig McCracken era. What were the writers actually thinking?
Buttercup's nothing but a straight up sadist in this episode, the moment those mouth muscles form a malicious slasher smirk, she has straight up changed in personality throughout the episode. After accidentally knocking one of Bubbles' teeth out, she learns of the "tooth fairy" bringing money in exchange for teeth under kid's pillows and what does she do? She constantly abuses Bubbles just to try and knock out her teeth.
First off, Buttercup may be tough, but she loves her sisters dearly and wouldn't think of abusing her own sisters for kicks. Sure she gets into scrapes now and then, argues and teases them, but she would never want to hurt them to this extent!
UmbraMagna's stated this before on YouTube but have they go something against Buttercup, did they hate her character? Why did she always get the rough stuff in punishment and treatment? Think about it? In Down and Dirty, she refuses to bathe and even gets kicked out the house until she gives in and is forcefully given a full scrub by her own sisters. In Cover Up, a whole opportunity is wasted  on a story that could have had a heartwarming peptalk scene between Buttercup and the Professor, there, Buttercup feels vulnerable without her security blanket. You gotta remember that she is a little girl, it's normal for someone her age to have a baby blanket.
Going back to Moral Decay, it's a terrible episode that's just painful to watch and do NOT get me started on the ending. The Professor at his most non-caring right here, not to mention that close out ending scene. As punishment, the Professor pays covers Buttercup's dental bills with the money she "saved". By the way, I suggest you check out @UmbraMagna's extended review on this episode. Since mostly I'd be shadowing and echoing what she has said, along with A Very Special Blossom in her top 10 worst PPG eps countdown.
Tumblr media
2. Sun Scream/The City Of Frownsville I put these two together because...well, they both aired together, simple as, bit cheap and not so well explained or thought but what else. These two episodes are just torture! Despite being on different topics.
First off, Sun Scream. This episode is just a chore to get though. The girls all catch the sun after refusing to put sunscreen lotion on while trying to stop a solar flare from plummeting to the earth. What do their fans and the rest of the citizens do? They laugh at them, instead of showing concern for three kids who have badly been sunburned. Just...what has happened to Townsville?
The rest of the episode is nothing but the girls struggling to get up out of bed and trying to answer the hotline, getting dressed to even struggling to attack some con artists. I won't spoil this episode but if you have made it through till the end then good luck, this one's just painful to watch.
Then we have The City of Frownsville. Although being dedicated to those who lost their lives during 9-11 (with all my respect, I pray now even). Despite this, this episode is nothing but everyone sobbing their eyes out for ten minutes. If you can't stand nails scratching on a chalkboard, then you will definitely not be able to make it through this episode.
All of Townsville's put under a spell by "Lou Gubrious" and his machine that causes everyone to cry uncontrollably, this then reverses his mood giving him the new name "Hal Larious" (please, seriously?), the rest...ugh.
Skip this one while you can guys.
Before I get to number one, I'd like to give out a few dishonorable mentions.
Cover Up - For shaming Buttercup being a softy. Also her sisters cruelly laughing at her. Twisted Sister - First off, I don't hate this episode as a whole, I don't like what they did with the new sister Bunny. She's unstable, but her slurred speech and lack of English, as well as dying in so called comedic fashion's a bit too much. Fallen Arches - Blossom's unbearable in this episode. Sure, we should respect the elderly but refusing to fight these crooks and throw'em in jail. Just...no. Sweet and Sour - Ugh, cutesey animals getting away with crime and the citizens are just as clueless because they are "TOO CUTE!". Come on! Pee Pee Gs - Unsettling and nothing but pee jokes. Umm...no, unfunny and a cringefest. Prime Mates - Mopey Popo's constant complaining and rambling in his Droopy-esque voice and the girls not having enough screen time make this a true downer. A Very Special Blossom - Ugh, one of the first of episodes where one of the girls does wrong and gets punished for it. In this case, Blossom's dark side shows when she steals a valuable set of golf clubs just to please the Professor for Father's Day. That's Not My Baby - Ah the baby cliche! Whether it's abandoned or just being looked after the whole package is there. The baby never stops crying, and when it eats, it's diaper needs to be changed yada yada yada, I'm sick of this cliche and this episode's no better. HOW did they not even notify the Professor even? I left it out of here because the ending was actually clever. Cop Out - Forgettable, bland and yeah. Unfunny, also that cop. Ugh. Custody Battle - Just doesn't feel like a PPG episode, but a Rowdyruff Boys spinoff. Also the whole two daddies thing...nah. Divide and Conquer - I know education and learning's important but an entire maths episode...nope. Save Mojo - I'm a bit of an animal activist, no lies but...a cartoon chimpanzee with constant diabolical plans to destroy the Powerpuff Girls and take over the world, that's different (plus a cartoon), and...yeah. Basically Girls Gone Mild with animal activists and protesters. Say Uncle - Absolutely forgettable and lame. Mizzen In Action - I love the Crack McCraigen pun name but over all, this swash buckling episode's one of the show's most forgettable episodes. Seed No Evil - Bland and boring and...seriously, what's this all about seeds in olden times? The City of Nutsville - Bubbles gets stung in the throat by a bee/wasp and her sisters actually laugh at her...messed up. Also, squirrel apocalypse. Insane. West in Pieces - Ugh...ancestors of the Powerpuff Girls? really? As if Seed No Evil was no better.
And the number one worst Powerpuff Girls episode is...
Tumblr media
1. Toast Of The Town I HATE this episode! Talk about character derailment, especially when you're in the middle of season five. If you can get through this episode listening to the Mayor speak in the third person, good for you, because there's a lot of it and it's enough to make your eardrums split.
The Mayor has a huge craving for toast (say, at least SOMEONE now has a toaster unlike everybody in Too Pooped To Puff few seasons back) but his toaster is out of range, so he goes to the Professor to have it fixed. And with that, we get some of the most cringe inducing audio, lack lustered story writing and some of the most ANNOYING dialogue in any episode! The Mayor is basically nothing but...a child in a man's body here. The Professor won't fix his toaster because he's busy, but after more complaining from the Mayor, he gets on with the job and the Mayor is so impatient he asks in seconds if it's done yet...really? The Mayor is an idiot, that's for sure, but at least he means well and loves his city and job and looks out for the girls. BUT his stupidity here is both questionable, childish and dumbed down to a tee!
The Professor makes the Mayor wait somewhere in the lab which he does despite still dejected and impatient. What follows is...the Mayor curiously pressing buttons like a child and setting off an alarm and causing a huge explosion in the lab...err...is this Dexter's Lab or The Powerpuff Girls? Some weird pattern here! Anyway, the Professor then proceeds to let the Mayor stay put by putting him in a high chair...for...some reason...
Later on, the Mayor discovers a can of Chemical X and rubs some of it on his head thinking it's hair growth formula and...his entire body is now the size of King Kong, complete with a shameless parody to boot. I don't need to explain anymore of this.
Seriously? The Mayor's third person speech and childish behaviour here is some of the worst character derailment I've ever seen. As I said with Gettin' Twiggy With It, there's a more detailed review here by Regulas314: https://www.deviantart.com/regulas314/art/Animated-Atrocities-Toast-of-the-Town-475588395
There's no other way I can mention this episode without any...ahem spoilers, but I suggest avoiding it while you can. SERIOUSLY! This episode's unbearable!
Compare the Mayor in episodes like Uh Oh Dynamo, where he was against the girls having the city destroyed (even though it was the Professor making the girls use the Dynamo). Then compare him here...it's just painful. And with that, let me know what you think which episodes do you think are th eabsolute worst?

Everything to love about Far From Home not in this order:
Literally seeing that opening with all our loved avengers that are no more.
Whitney Houston “I will always love you” made me cry because damnit Tony’s face was right THERE! NOT OK!
The blip footage was pretty damn funny not gonna lie.
Peter’s cute ass plan to tell MJ how he feels.
MJ’s favorite flower being a Black Dalia because of the murder. Literally a girl I can relate too. Murderinos for life sister. Idk but it just made her sooo relatable!
The fact that Brad is a kid grown up from the blip and that made him seem all the weirder for MJ.
Jealous Peter was so freaking amazing! Oh my gosh! That face he’d get. I’m a sucker for jealousy and they did it so good.
Making MJ this awesome character she was before but also obviously has this softer layer where she does have flaws and insecurities and she’s really sweet but also so badass. That was amazing.
The starting relationship between Peter and Beck. It was cute and so I was sad knowing that Beck was somehow going to be the villain.
Also let’s talk about how Beck is basically Syndrom from the incredibles.
That scene with Peter and Brad....the pure terror when he snapped that picture
Also seeing how big of a dick Brad is and how unhealthy jealous he was.
“Nick Fury” getting ghosted, showing up in Venice, tranquilising Ned (don’t touch him you monster) and then promptly highjacking Peters Summer trip.
Showing the emotional trama Peter is going through. The anxiety, the greiving. It was very reminiscent of Iron Man 3 when Tony suffers from PTSD after the battle of New York. I loved that they showed Peter reacting as any kid would, many adults too, which is to just try and forget anything happened but being faced with the reality every day. So well done.
Happy and May’s relationship. Enough said 😂😂
I feel cheated we didn’t see Mr delmore again.
Addressing all the problems the Blip/Snap created. High school aging, school, drinking ages, homelessness and housing issues. That’s just the start of it I’m sure but they covered those pretty well and I love that.
The technology that made Beck into Misterio was so well done. Instead of some frankly, kinda far fetched story that he came from an alternate earth (which I was willing to believe but felt it was a cop out in terms of plot and character) they showed the real world issues that superhero’s can create. The Enemies that have a real deep rooted hatred for hero because they’ve personally been betrayed or wronged by them. Because marvel has always made clear, everyone is not on the hero’s side.
Steeping Misterio’s powers in tech which is classing marvel but again, so brilliantly done in this movie. I loved the development. Because at first glance, half way through, I was thinking “wow this is really kinda weird and unexplained and too witchcraft for what marvel usually brings to the superpower backstory” I know it’s weird to say after everything marvel has done. But it seemed just a tad out there without being too hard to grasp. Which again was brilliantly done because that was the whole point.
The nod to Misterio’s helmet even when Beck was in the hologram suit watching everything play out. I guess it was his screen? But I loved the staple of even without his big over the top suit he still had the trademark helmet. Great costume design.
Peter’s soft gazes towards MJ. Nearly gave me a cavity they were so sweet! Ahhh sooo cute
Mr. Harrington’s marital problems nearly made me pee my pants....we all knew here in the fandom that shit like that would half to happen but my god lol
The opera scene was sooo freakin cute and that one step Peter took when he saw Brad move in was so freaking cute and hot!
MJ running after him and finding the critical peice of information to crack the case wide open. Loved it.
Betty and Ned’s Sicily sweet romance that you knew couldn’t possibly last. They really nailed the realistic high school romance. But I still ship it.
The bus scene was epic. And when Peter knocked Flash out...god it was amazing.
Mj obviously having love eyes towards Peter same as he does for her.
THE FACT THAT HE ACTUALLY BOUGHT THAT NECKLACE FOR HER OH MY GOD! I CANT GET A GUY TO TEXT ME BACJ LET ALONE BUY A NECKLACE LIKE THAT WHICH PROBABALY COST A GOOD CHUNK OF CHANGE IT WAS SO FREAKING AMAZING AND CUTE AND TOUCHING.
All the iron man images got me feeling depressed as hell
“are you being serious because I was only like 67% sure?” That was amazing. Seeing MJ get so excited and trying to keep that hidden was awesome
The fact that she was so pleased with herself but also played it hella cool when Ned walked in and she said she figured it out. Literally that is me.
The shirtless Peter trope that we all wanted and freaking got! So freaking cute how she tried to peak at his abs. Like understandable girl.
The fucking illusions. Turning our sweet trusting Peter into a ball of mess. I was too.
God when he had to tell himself it wasn’t real but it still totally feels like it is.
Him trying to save MJ when she’s “thrown off the Eiffel Tower”
Every traumatizing thing Beck shows and tells him during the illusion. So shitty.
Seeing Tony’s grave, seeing iron man come out. That was awful and we all felt it in the movie because we’ve lost him too. We could FEEL that slap same as Peter.
Beck telling Peter that Tony’s death was his fault. I was abouta hurl myself at the movie screen.
Every illusion done in a way that just when you think it’s over, it’s never stopped. You forget what’s real and you feel trapped in it same as Peter does.
WHEN HE GETS HIT BY THE TRAIN!!!!!!!!!! Nearly had a damn heart attack!!!! My mom had to look over and ask if I was ok because I literally stopped breathing for a solid 30 seconds.
Showing gradually just how insane and evil Misterio was.
HAPPY BEING CONCERNED FOR PETER! LIKE SINCERELY AND HONESTLY CONCERNED! It’s good to know he’s got Happy to take care of him and May but that Peter still has a father type figure he can count on after Tony. Because you know Tony wouldn’t have put up with any of that getting hit by a train shit.
Also where the hell was Karen? We missed her. We got Edith but Karen wouldn’t have let Misterio take her over. WHERE WAS KAREN!!
Peter crying and needing to know Happy was real. Broke me heart
That hug between them was so sweet and you can see the concern on Happy’s face
Happy and Peter opening up to each other was so awesome considering their relationship in Homecoming.
ALL THE TONY and PETER PARRELLS! All of them!!!!!!!!! Not the people saying “Spider-Man’s the next Ironman” no the actual hints and glimpses at how similar him and tony actually are. The hologram gauntlet shot, a straight parallel to Iron Man when Tony is building his first real suit. Obviously “Back in Black” by Led Zeplen (formally known as AC/DC) playing. Another obvious hint toward Tony. The Stark sunglasses. Peter falling with the parachute and it literally looks like Ironman with his jet stream behind him from a distance. There’s so much more I’ll do a whole other post on.
Of course: “I love Led Zeplin!” Hahaha it’s such a kid thing to say! I’ve said it before I knew the big differences between AC/DC and Led Zeplin. It was so freaking perfect.
Peter making his suit and Happy’s face. Bittersweet and I live for the affection he holds for Peter now.
The Netherlands Holding cell...must I say more?
Brad’s downfall and MJs amazing comment about him taking pictures of people in the bathroom. Ep-ic. Even flash was like “bro that’s so weird”
Mr. witchcraft was hilarious and I loved his aside with Brad “I’m gonna be the cool teacher and tell you you can’t do that anymore.”
Flash is definately Gay or Bi and I’m so here for it. That wink he makes to Peter proves it.
All the near death truths in the vault of the tower.
MJ BADDASS COMES SWINGING WITH THE MACE AND IT WAS LEGINDARY OH MY GOD! YES GIRL! She’s my idol I love her so much.
Peter and his “Peter Tingle” And while we’re on the subject the banana he gets to the face while packing.
Important. His amazing skills at the end trusting his instincts (which is great because May says in regards to MJ, but it applies to this too) May tells Peter to trust his instincts and don’t think too much. And that’s what he does when he defeats Beck.
The bad ass “you can’t fool me anymore” after redirecting the gun away from his head at the end. Literally was so intense and well done.
Peter and MJ’s kisses! I loved how awkward it was at first and the slightly less awkward one. They really accurately captured the awkwardness of teenagers in love. Like that’s what it’s like guys.
Show me MJ’s parents you cowards, or show me something. Anything. I just want to know the nature of the situation.
Ned and Betty’s breakup. So funny and honestly not surprising at all. But still I ship them.
The hand hold. So cute.
May and Peter still being the cutest aunt and nephew duo there ever was.
I totally thought Peter was going to end with telling the world he was spiderman....BUT SOME OTHER ASSHOLES DID IT FOR HIM AND MADE HIM INTO A VILLAN AND IM PISSED. LOOKING AT YOU MR JAMESON YOU PEICE OF SHIT.
The movie ended and I have no idea what’s next.
Mid credit of MJ swinging through New York. Home girl doesn’t like and neither do I. Looks full on terrifying we don’t blame you hun.
After credit where the skrulls have been playing Maria and Nick fury for the whole movie. Honestly it made more sense because Nick fury seemed just a bit off. ALSO WHERE IS THE REAL NICK FURY at and I’m so psyched to see where this new movies are gonna go!
Alright that all for now folks!!!! Everything about the movie was great!!! I will have to watch again ad see if anything more pops up. Sorry for any spelling errors I’m on my phone.

► ( rudy pankow & cis male ) according to the school’s records, knox drury is a 22-YEAR-OLD senior studying political science, and he lives over in moriarty. he is a gemini, so that must be why others describe him as dignified, humorous, cowardly and naive. when i see him, i’m reminded of walking into class an hour late with sunglasses on, the feeling of anticipation as you wait for a firework to fully blossom, the sound of party music leaking through the walls of a bathroom. ( gibby, 20, they/them, est. ) ◄
Tumblr media
hello everyone !! so i won’t even lie to u guys, i am NERVOUS and it’s literally only bc this is the first group i’ve joined in so long like dfdhkjsfjad the last group i was in was almost a year ago but i ended up having to leave due to personal reasons and didn’t get to write so like !!! idk i’m excited !! anyways w that in mind, pls bARE with me bc i have like one (1) braincell and i forgot how to write intros. anyways enough of me rambling, lemme give you knox !!
also this is a bad intro pls dont judge me im trying 2 like. rewrite what i had b4 the storm took it out n like, i lost the braincell
basics.
full name: knox hale drury.
nicknames: drury.
age: twenty two.
gender and pronouns: cis male and he/him
sexual & romantic orientations: bisexual, biromantic, femme leaning.
major: political science.
housing: moriarty.
backstory.
triggers: implied bullying, police and incarceration ( dw i didn’t make him jj 2.0 ).
nobody gets to pick their beginnings. it’s something that people tell knox all the time, hell, it’s plastered in every stupid coming of age movie, book, film, everything he’s ever seen. you don’t pick who your born into, you don’t pick who you get to be. and to an extent, he does think that this is true but he can’t help but wonder if maybe, if people could pick, if they’d pick differently. because he knows he certainly would pick differently.
it’s not that he even came from a bad home - hell no, he had the most loving family ever. his mother was a saint, a warm sensation bubbling up in his chest when he thinks about her warm cookies or the way she tried to still tuck him in even as a teenager. his father had his flaws, we all do, but he was a good and honest man. hardworking, he showed knox what that stupid american dream is that everyone likes to preach about.
no, it had nothing to do with them but rather the overall opinion on him and his family. see, the drury’s weren’t well liked - they were seen as lowlives and as shady, the kind of people who you’d only go to if you wanted to get stabbed in the back. generations of drury’s fit this narrative but no, his father was determined to change that. and so was he, even if nobody around him seemed to want to give him a chance.
knox would go throughout school with this name attached to him like a dagger to his throat - whisperings in the hallway of, “oh, my mom said the drury boy might be steal things if you let him over,” and other random, rude remarks. of course, the people that get close to him know better - they see him for who he really is.
that person is knox. he’s a golden light, often more selfless than the rich pricks who run that small town. he’d give his jacket or umbrella to people even if they didn’t ask if it just so happened to be raining outside, and despite the fact that his family didn’t have a lot, he’d still go out of his way to try to give when he could.
he eventually graduated high school - one of the top people in his class due to his father’s encouragement, and after a lot of debate, settled on attending haddon university - miles away from that sweet, small little hometown he knew, but a fresh start where he didn’t have to work for anything. he could just go in being him, with nobody attaching a new narrative to him. it was what he wanted, what he dreamed of.
and he loved it. his first semester there was memorable as he found himself surrounded by new friends and people he even considered family. back home, however, things were slipping.
the drury family was never rich, ever by any means, but business was low. nobody wanted to go there, fearing that his father was just as shady as his grandfather. as things got worse, his father had to resort to other needs - stealing, lying about taxes, and doing everything he could to try to make it by.
it finally caught up to him when knox came home for spring break - red and blue lights flashing outside as loud noises went on throughout the house, until finally someone swung knox’s door open and briefly blinded him with a flashlight, demanding to know where his father was. by the time knox got a grasp on the situation, his father was being rushed off in the back of a cop car.
he plead guilty almost immediately and for the next few months, knox did school from home to stay with his mother. it was then that he switched his major from what had initially been just a vague, business degree to political science in hopes of going into law after getting that degree - a way of changing things, of helping people so they never got to that point.
for now though, he’s gone back to haddons campus where he study’s away and occasionally finds himself slipping and partying, glasses always covering his eyes as he slinks back class, getting almost nO sleep every night.
study.
so i need u to know right now... knox is baby, FDSHJDFSHAJK
like he’s not by any means like he’s kinda a gross dude like, absolutely randomly burps n is like lol oops n shit, very little manners, will grab clothes off of the floor to put them on kind of man BUT LIKE as a whole ?? he means very well FDSJFAHJ he’s very gentle and will sit there and admire flowers on a bush and then get mad if u pick one bc ur hurting it like. he’s baby.
he also is very loyal to the ppl he’s friends w tbh like. damn he will never leave ur side
that also makes him kinda... super, actually, naive. you see, while knox is incredibly loyal, he often finds himself ignoring signs of toxicity for the sake of preserving a friendship - he fights for people who won’t fight for him, he lets people back in too easily, he just. he sees the good in everyone, even if there isn’t any good.
regardless, he’s not easy to just... manipulate to an extent. while he’ll fall for you being innocent, you can’t ever try to make him think he’s something he’s not - he knows his intentions and he knows they’re usually pure and he’s not gonna fold for anyone if it comes down to him or them.
bt like again he’s baby
like i dont think he ever gets mad but damn when he does its probs scary as shit like bc he nEVER gets mad !!! hes like. a golden retriever ig
if u cannot tell im trying really hard not to make him too much like jj bc i realize that might be a big thing ppl do n i dont think jj is baby bt like. knox? knox is baby DSFHJKFDHKJ
he’s just. idk. he’s very protective and cares about his friends a lot and will walk you home even if you went to HIS place and like is always ready to give you a jacket if it’s raining and he’s just lowkey a big, kinda dumb at times, teddy bear and i think that’s valid tyvm
wanted connections.
friends. — please. knox will lOVE ur muses just let him be their friend tyvm plus he’s a bit of a social butterfly now and i think he’d honestly have a lot of friends.
best friend. — i’m gonna keep this to one muse bc idk i think it’d be really cute if knox got to have his own like, ride or die where they care abt him as much as he cares about them and they’re always there for each other and like !!! that’s cute !!! also found family trope bc i think that is.. again, kyoot, ty
frienemies. — so these are always like, super fun to plot out and i think there’s a lot to work w here... like give me ppl who are happy that knox is loyal and would defend them but would push knox to the side n not do the same for him... also friendships where knox fucked up ?? where knox, despite his goodness, couldn’t keep his mouth shut and revealed a secret to their friend group bc u see he can kinda be a gossip fsjfdaskj. idk there’s a lot u can do n i’d love to brainstorm!
enemies. — pls. like. we can brainstorm this too so i dont just ramble but pLEASE?? please.
flings. — honestly romantic ships are not the point of rps but romantic flings and stuff can be really fun to plot and i love getting soft about them so like ?? idk dude lets fling it up n have muses date for two weeks n then break up like thats swexi, dramatic, 10/10
exes. — i mean this is kind of like flings but i have an idea... give me an ex of knox’s who really was like. everything knox wanted. hell, the two had a really good relationship - they were in love and etc etc gushy details but they ended up breaking up bc they just. they weren’t meant to be! as sad as it is like it was as simple as that! and then the angst comes in after they break up bc god they still love each other so much but they just aren’t meant to be and they see them with other people and oh it just hurts but like, bonus points if they manage to become good friends even after this !! (sidenote, idk i wouldn’t want this to be a full ship tht gets back together bc idk i think there’s a bittersweetness in stuff like this n its just. like. its ok !!! idk !!! )
roommates. — and they were roomates- fdshjkfdsahjk
other things. — honestly these are half assed plots but i’m down for anything !!! i’m still fleshing out knox a lil too bc i really did make him on the spot so pls bare w me :)

S and T for the ask
S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?
> Bittersweet endings. I don’t like completely perfect or completely depressing ends… I like little nibbles of both.
> Witty banter. Never get tired of it.
> I’m not normally one for AUs, but I love college AUs for worlds that don’t have a college equivalent. What do they study? I must know.
> Fleshing unliked/overlooked side character out with an interesting backstory and cool hobbies.
> We dislike each other but have to keep up appearances.
> Smooth, probably sexually experienced character is easily flustered.
> Alternatively: smooth character flirts with someone, takes it too far, and instantly backpedals while screaming internally.
> Sharing space on a road trip.
> Soft holiday stories! Especially fantasy holidays, because then I’m falling in love with the worldbuilding and pleased that the characters are happy.
> Blind dates.
> Tired but loving single parent who works very hard
> Two tired parents working very hard, so glad they’re in this together
> Someone falls in love with a single parent, asks their kid(s) permission to marry their parent, and lets kid help them pick out a ring and participate in wedding plans.
> HEALTHY!!! STEP-FAMILIES!!!
> Jerk messed with the wrong person and now they’re in for it… We don’t know when… but oh, they’re in for it.
> Petty villains (“Whoa, whoa, whoa! I call in an evil plan, and you send your B squad??? Frankly I’m a little insulted!” -Snaptrap)
> Petty heroes… Read: Randy Disher, a full-grown adult police lieutenant, getting his feelings hurt when the Captain says he’d save Monk, not him, if both were in the water because Monk can’t swim, and Randy persists by asking if his mind would change if Randy was holding an anchor and the Captain asks why he wouldn’t just let go of the anchor and Randy looks him in the eye and says “Family heirloom” and the Captain just >:|
> Gift giving is shown to be a valid form of affection and not played as a greedy, materialistic love language (Related: Character A buys cute little gifts for B sometimes and it doesn’t turn into a story about wasteful spending or needing to shower your partner in gifts or else they’ll freak out).
> Bed sharing / cuddles (As long as it doesn’t progress to sex… I have to be in the right mindset for that and 9.5 times out of 10 I’d rather have snuggles).
> Quick, casual, absentminded kisses. Convince me this character’s instinct is to express affection even when they’re distracted and you have me eating out of your hand.
> Kisses in awkward places… Up against walls, quickly stolen while the third wheel is out of the room, couple trying to hide even though their friends ship them and no one present will judge them for a kiss… Yes. The more uncomfortable the position or time, the better. Love that spontaneous cute.
> Fake dating and in the end they’re still good friends, no push into a romantic relationship just because they were in this situation together.
> Healthy mutual break-ups
> Asexual characters!!! I’m for any story that acknowledges people like me exist and are happy, whether it’s a story about discovery, the difficulties of being ace, or a story where the ace character is just at peace.
> People are close friends and not dating. Both are comfortable with their relationship and no one tries to make them feel bad.
T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?
(Below the cut. Keep in mind these are my personal preferences and I’m not attacking anyone who likes tropes I dislike. This isn’t a comprehensive list, just some thoughts about tropes I don’t enjoy reading).
> Redemption through romantic love. So. Much.
> Everybody Lives AUs
> Soulmates
> Forbidden love
> Amnesia
> Coffee Shop AUs (I’m all for “In the future this character gets a job” stories, but I dislike “I’m going to flirt with this person while they’re in a position they can’t leave” stories)
> Psychic powers / Twins can read minds. It’s not an immediate deal-breaker, but my interest will drop sharply.
> Falling in love way too quickly / confusing infatuation with genuine love and the moral of the story is that you should risk your life plans and dive headfirst into relationships with people you don’t know well yet (I didn’t watch The Sun Is Also a Star, but the trailers pushed ALL my wrong buttons).
> Physical touch is the only or most important way to express affection. I’m all for love language miscommunication stories. I don’t like being told those who don’t express physical touch easily are frigid or uncaring.
> Big rescue scenes in romance (Ex: Hero carrying love interest from a burning building… I’d rather see hero helping love interest up a tough patch of the trail they’re hiking, or leaving a party to find their partner a dessert they’re not allergic to, something small and affectionate like that).
> Asexual invalidation/correction stories (Related: Virgin mockery). I don’t mind reading these if the main character is asexual and it’s a story about sexuality exploration or a character facing difficulties because they’re ace (That’s what Origin of the Pixies is, after all), but if the author legitimately believes asexuality needs to be fixed or that ace characters can’t be in fulfilling relationships, that’s what I don’t like.
> Canon: *Characters state they don’t want to be together romantically*  Fanfic: *Makes them romantic*  As a reader, I’m willing to let you take my hand if you show me careful thought processes and honest conversations while the characters work through changes together in early chapters, but if there’s absolutely no explanation (or indication that backstory will be given later) and the story just starts with them together for some reason… I won’t play along.
> When two people in canon are very close but not an official romantic couple and the only ‘fics about them are romantic. I don’t mind some stories being romantic, especially if they’re set in the future of canon, but if I can’t find more than a tiny handful of ‘fics that match their canon relationship, I get frustrated.
> Oh, here’s a trope I despise with the intensity of a thousand suns… Animals that are not dogs behaving like dogs (Ex: Maximus the horse in Tangled). Other animals are interesting too!
> I dislike a lot of angst tropes in general. I like psychological horror, like the slow recognition of your own sins (which is probably why I write villain backstories). A loved one dying in your arms, or trapped inside a burning house, does nothing to me. You could not get farther from affecting me if you tried. My heart will break if someone hesitates in an otherwise cheery story and the other person staggers back, realizing things aren’t as perfect as they thought. I live for moments where the bliss suddenly snaps and in an instant, everything’s changed. But deaths drawn out with gasps and bleeding, or houses going up in flames, don’t really land. Angst has to be fast and hard or I find it tedious.
> Developing a crush on someone before you even see or hear them interact. See also, liking someone you have no business liking when your people raised you to dislike theirs. How do you exist outside your culture? I want reasons.
> Using new pronouns for a character who hasn’t revealed their preferred pronouns to the narrator and/or a character outs someone by using new pronouns without ensuring they’re okay with that. I’m cool with long-established pronouns, but if some characters don’t know yet, they don’t know yet.
> I’m personally not a fan of self-insert stories, especially Self-Insert x Canon. Specifically, I dislike the trope that self-inserts will draw canon character attention and take the focus away from a canon character development story, which is what I prefer to read. Self-inserts who don’t disrupt the status quo are fine by me.
> I can accept OC x Canon if you don’t contradict canon, but the OC has to be well fleshed out with realistic flaws, and if the canon character is completely OOC, I’m backing out (It’s specifically Main Character OC x Canon that I don’t like- I’ll happily dive into “Failed relationships in canon character’s past involving OC exes because canon characters won’t work for this”).
> Timmy wakes up one day and realizes Tootie’s the girl for him. I need a looong slow burn to sell me on that one. I’m happy to see him recognize his own judgmental attitudes and accept her as a friend, but if it moves into romance while they’re still young, I’m out.
> Wanda being pregnant instead of Cosmo… I 100% forgive this for anything written before “Fairly Odd Baby,” but if Wanda’s the pregnant one then I immediately scroll up to check the upload date. If I can’t trust you with that piece of canon, what can I trust you with?
> Wanda confronts Cosmo and argues that he’s being mean to her. That’s a can of worms I’d rather skirt around.
> I’m all for Cosmo and Wanda having a second kid, but NOT while they’re still with Timmy.
> Abusive Juandissimo.
> I also don’t like fluff. I don’t deliberately avoid sweet, plotless stories, but I don’t seek them out. I lose interest in fluff more quickly than anything else.
… I’m realizing now that the reason I don’t like romantic stories is probably because most of them revolve around expressing affection the literal opposite way of how I prefer it (Ex: Way more stories about physical touch and making out until impulsive sex occurs, not enough quick kisses in passing or time spent existing quietly on the same couch enjoying your separate hobbies).
I don’t inherently hate romance, I just have different romantic preferences than the media that usually crosses my path. I’m more about companionate love than fiery passion. It’s hard to convey the comfortable silence I like in words.

YEASSSS. I don’t even know Banana Fish, but they cute, you cute, so I’m staying. (Also, if you could sum up why you love Banana Fish so much, I might get the motivation to watch it :D) WELCOME BACK, my LOVE!
Thank you so much!!!! ;A; (and NAW I’m definitely not cute, I’m a gremlin LMAO)
BUT Okay, so I think I wrote a similar response a few days back BUT, reasons I like Banana Fish:
-I like the characters, A LOT. They all have interesting, if often dark histories that influence their actions within the series. None of them are perfect, and all of them carry considerable darkness. They all have different motivations and allegiances. And even the most likable among them has major flaws, and makes questionable decisions, but I at least still really want to root for them.
-I like the RELATIONSHIPS between the characters almost as much as the characters themselves, and I think that’s what really got me to fall for the series? It’s heavily focussed on Ash and Eiji’s incredibly close, yet undefined relationship (the kind of relationship that’s my favorite to explore), but there are others too. Ash and Eiji’s relationship with Shorter, which I feel played a huge role in how they found comfort in each other. Shorter’s mentor-successor relationship with Sing. Sing’s growing friendship with Eiji, especially post canon. Ash and Sing’s relationship as an experienced boss + new boss who idolizes him. Blanca and Ash. Blanca and Yut-Lung. Yut-Lung and Sing, Yut-Lung and Ash, Yut-Lung and Eiji, Blanca and Sing…the characters have so many connections between them that are extremely emotionally charged and can be interpreted in so many ways, which makes them FASCINATING (and also super fun if you want to ship LOL).
-A lot of really, REALLY bad shit happens to the characters, and they suffer and sacrifice so much. WHICH, isn’t the content everyone’s gonna want, but at the same time, as fiction, it brings out of what the characters feel is important. Characters sacrificing themselves for each other, characters feeling the loss of another that shows how much they cared for each other…it’s like, the Whump trope. It hurts so much, but that heart-wrenching feeling can be so satisfying and even cathartic from a work of fiction, if you get my meaning?
-It covers dark themes that some people may want to avoid (human trafficking, child p*rnography, rape, murder, human testing, to list a few), but the way it handles the themes is respectful and serious. It treats them as real issues, and depicts survivors as survivors. None of it is brushed off, and it is all very directly addressed and confronted.
-The story follows through on its themes, and to me at least, it has a poetic ending that, while bittersweet, makes the story feel complete. It doesn’t hold back and choose the easy soft and gentle way out, because that’s not what the story is about. But as a result, it feels like art, like a truly meaningful story.
-It makes you think about themes like death and love? It can get philosophical ^ ^;
-From a visual standpoint, it’s got some really beautiful animation. It’s done by MAPPA, the same studio as YOI, so the art style may be familiar to YOI fans (but I think overall it was animated better ^ ^;). At the same time, it’s based off of an older manga, and some of the original mangaka’s art style does come through, especially for derp faces, and it’s really charming in a Ghibli-esque way.
-It’s not all tragedy. They have their fun and cute moments too. Yes, those moments come at a high price, but they feel even more valuable as a result.
-Canon media has always only been a starting point of inspiration for me, and it’s interesting to have a darker media to work off of. It motivates me in several different ways; one, I could always do happy everyone lives AUs because I WANT to desperately make them happy and it’s empowering as a creator to be able to do that, but also two, it’s also interesting and again, cathartic to allow characters to heal after tragedy. There’s so many different angles I can take with a fan work, so it’s both challenging and engaging!
Are just a few reasons why I like Banana Fish ^ ^

Pinch Hit #3
CLAIMED.
Requirements stand as a complete fic or art. Fic must be 1000 words at minimum and posted in full, and art should be neat, legible, and rendered (either color or grayscale is acceptable). Pinch hit deadline would be 11pm EST on Thursday, April 19th.
IN ORDER TO CLAIM: Please IM or send this blog an ask with your AO3 username, or email knightpilotmod @ gmail (.) com with the same info.
spookykingdomstarlight′s requests are as follows:
Request 1 - “Canonverse Future Fic”
In light of TLJ, I would love to see Poe, thrust further up the chain of leadership in the Resistance than he was probably ready for, struggling with the idea of a redeemable Kylo Ren. Maybe at some point, he has asked Rey about what she knows of the new Supreme Leader and is stuck with this knowledge that Rey at one point saw good in him. Then Kylo defects or otherwise helps the Resistance defeat the First Order and Poe is forced to interact with him on the regular and learns that Kylo is even more complicated than Poe had realized. And Poe's feelings about him in return are just as complicated.
For this one, I would prefer that they didn't know one another as youths, and Poe's first impression of him was always their meeting on Jakku and the interrogation afterward. Also, feel free to make Poe's feelings as explicitly romantic or not as you see fit. I'd like them to bend in that direction eventually, but it would be a tall order for a 1000 word minimum to get Poe from seeing Kylo as the enemy to love.
Art prompt: Poe seeing Kylo aboard a Resistance ship or in a Resistance base for the first time post-defection
Request 2 - “Darkside/Imperial Royalty AU”
Perhaps the Empire never fell and for handwave-y reasons Ben is the heir to Naboo and one of the most powerful figures in the Empire. Poe's one of the finest pilots in the Empire, so good he survived long enough to gain the captaincy of a Star Destroyer despite not having gone command track as a cadet. This catches Ben's attention and, when Poe's ship is brought in-system at the orders of Imperial leadership, he decides he wants to meet Poe Dameron. Turns out, Poe is even more interesting than his resume leads Ben to believe...
Art prompt: OTT Nabooian fashion for Ben and austere Imperial uniform for Poe
Request 3 - “Role Reversal AU”
Poe's the Force-sensitive Knight of Ren who has gone good and helped the Resistance/been redeemed and Ben's the Force-null Resistance ace who is drawn to Poe despite himself because he sees something of what he could've been? What would that look like? How would they get to know one another and come to respect and/or care about one another?
Art prompt: I just want to see confident, cool Poe in a Knight of Ren get-up while Ben is forced to hang around in some nerdy orange flightsuit
Request 4 - “Fake Dating Royalty AU”
Heir to the New Alderaanian throne!Ben needs a date to some event, but Leia/the press/people in general is or are onto his tricks (he might have pulled the fake dating schtick a time or two in his life) and so he has to REALLY FOR REAL THIS TIME bring a date. A REAL one. Except who has time for dating when there are so many diplomatic events and political things to attend to? Ben wouldn't know a real date if it bit him on the face. Friend of the family/New Republic hero/all around good egg Poe Dameron offers to be his date and because he's trusted by just about everybody, nobody would ever think that Ben and Poe weren't actually for real dating. It's all going so very well except for how possibly Poe has been pining forever and Ben's a bonehead who never realized he might maybe have been pining for Poe, too.
Art prompt: Embarrassed handholding that Poe is totally into and Ben is mortified by
Other Details:
Max Rating: T/M
DNWs: adultery/cheating, character bashing, historical/mundane/modern/non-canon divergent AUs, kink, porn/smut/sex, unrequested background pairings, underage relationships, blood in an erotic context, Hux

AUs: canon divergent AUs, canon-set AUs where characters might have another occupation, mirror!verse/dark side AUs, role reversal AUs Themes: betrayal (except for cheating/adultery), characters presented with moral/ethical quandaries, finding and encouraging moments of joy in the midst of pain and suffering, loyalty, sacrifice (of self, reputation, others, etc.), "the road to hell is paved with good intentions," unrequited love, what makes good people good and what might make good people do bad things

How I feel about Jaune Arc
Okay, I have taken a LOT of time to reflect on my personal feelings about Jaune from RWBY, and how I feel about him. I have taken lots of flack for not liking him, and even downright hating him, and so I decided to try and think more about the why I feel that way. This has been a journey for me of sorts. I am making an undercut as this contains possible spoilers for people who have not caught up with the show.
So, I started out with loving him in season one, episode two. He was quirky, fun, friendly, a bit of an outcast, but ultimately very likable. He was a dork, and a bit useless, but sweet. I didn’t mind him having an episode that showed how/why he ended up at Beacon even thought he was a useless fool, and I thought that his dynamic with Pyrrha was great, though predictable. You know, the useless guy gets the typically unattainable girl is a common trope, so I wasn’t too bothered by it. I actually was a huge fan of Arkos. Volume one was the Jaune I try to remember with great fondness. Volume two was a great volume as a whole, but I was a bit bothered by how much screen time he was eating up. While I am all for side characters that matter getting a good amount of time to interact with the mains, he was monopolizing time that could have been more about the actual main characters of the show. His team, while also getting screen time, was not given as much as him, and it was annoying. I craved to know more about Nora and Ren too, but Jaune had a lot more importance for some reason. It felt unbalanced at times.  And then came the dance episodes. This is was what started shaking my love for him. He wasn’t just focused on Weiss; he was obsessed with her. When she told him no over and over again, he not only refused to listen, he tried even harder. It was beyond disturbing, and what made matters worse, was that it was accepted by the writers didn’t even see anything wrong with having the other characters support it. What part of ‘no’ did he not understand? He tried to confront Neptune about rejecting Weiss’ invitation to the dance, but never apologized for his own behavior. And I think that this is what really has stuck with me. Volume three had lots of things that were already issues resurface. More of the now infamous Jaune Arc (a character arc about Jaune that seemed to happen every volume to date), and less about the development of the actual main characters. With the passing of Monty during the production of this volume, we lost a lot of direction, and it was a bittersweet time. However, we didn’t see the side character focus balanced; Nora, and Ren were pushed to the back burners, and the Fall of Beacon was heavily hinged on the brief sailing, and nearly instantaneous sinking of the Arkos ship. We saw some development for Ruby with the loss of Penny, the first cracking at her happy nature, which also was the herald of the all too common ‘chosen one’ trope. Blake and Yang have incredibly brief development during the battle, while Weiss had a great showcasing of the full extent of her semblance, albeit a minor version of it. The deaths of Penny and Pyrrha hit the fandom hard, and left me feeling as if this entire outcome had hit too soon. It felt rushed to some extent, as if we should have seen a lot more of the characters before this happened. Jaune felt as if he was a main focus, though he was simply a side character, and all of that felt so very wrong. Volume four, I felt was one of the biggest let downs so far. Yes, we FINALLY got some much needed Ren and Nora time. And it was amazing! Yang and Blake both had talks from important people in their lives about how they had messed up, and that they shouldn’t let those poor choices rule them. Weiss had one of my favorite arcs ever, as she finally was forced into a corner, and instead of knuckling under as her father expected, she fought back. She sang in front of a crowd that she wasn’t his little puppet, that she was taking a stand, and both of them knew the meaning of her lyrics. And yet, we still saw less of them than team RNJR, even though most of the RNJR time was spent as travel, exposition, and Jaune having once again, his own little Jaune Arc. We saw that video of Pyrrha giving him training, and him finally understanding that what she had stopped herself from admitting was how she felt about him. He seemed to regret not seeing her before, but instead of sympathy, I only felt anger. Pyrrha, whose death to me felt more like a plot device only for Jaune, now was his crutch even in death. I wanted to start liking him again, but damn it, I couldn’t. He was STILL eating up screen time, and the fact that neither Ren, nor Nora got anything of Pyrrha’s was a freaking travesty. She was a part of their team too, and they couldn’t even be spared a bit of her armor? Nor even like a bracelet for each of them? No, it all went to the idiotic stalker, Jaune. It felt like poor writing and lazy animating to not try to give something to the other two, and it felt wrong to me that so much time was spent on RNJR, when the other three had important and far more interesting stories to tell. I wanted more time on Yang’s recovery. Not just, “I’m going to finally accept this arm and jump into training”. I wanted more time on Blake facing her own inner demons about what happened; you know she also has to have major PTSD over it. I mean, she was stabbed by her ex boyfriend/ex partner, and watched her current partner have her arm CUT OFF trying to rescue her. That can’t be good for an already troubled mind. I wanted more of Weiss interacting with Klein, because holy hell, HE SEEMED SUPER INTERESTING TELL ME MORE ABOUT HIM. He seemed to genuinely care about Weiss, and Weiss seemed to really care about him too. Did he essentially raise her? Was he like a buffer for her at times from her father? I WANT TO KNOW MORE. Nora and Ren had really great episodes where we learned so much about them. TINY SAD NORA IS SO DAMN ADORABLE PROTECT HER. But aside from the major points that had to do with the actual story, so much attention of RNJR instead of the other three felt unnecessary.  I WANT to like Jaune. I want to like him again, I really do. But most importantly, I want him to own up to his own flaws, apologize to Weiss for being an actual harassing douche canoe, and have a lot less screen time. He isn’t a main character, he’s a side character. I think his handling as being a mary-sure is what keeps me from liking him again. He not only can do wrong, he has done wrong. And he needs to own up to it, on screen. He needs to stop dominating a show that is supposed to be centered around the four girls of team RWBY, and start actually taking a back seat like the rest of his team had. After volume four, I am going into volume five with very low expectations, so we shall see.

Yuletide Letter 2017
Darling Writer,
It's Yuletide again! This is my tenth year, and it's still a mainstay of my holiday season. Hope you're happy to be here, too. So, let's get down to business. Here are a few things to guide you:
Fic of all ratings is welcome. I read gen, het, slash, femslash and poly configurations with equal enthusiasm. Some shipping preferences are below in the fandom details.
Porn is also welcome! I love sex scenes that reveal character or highlight some issue in a new way. That is, please put the characters first: people don't stop being themselves when they get naked and busy. I prefer (semi)realistic depiction of characters as people over tropes-first portrayals.
Please don't write me hard-coded power dynamics of any kind (such as a 24/7 D/s relationship).I need my 'ships to stand on equal ground outside the bedroom, though playing with D/s is great. Hard kink, a/b/o etc. isn’t much my thing.
Please don't include glorified violence, graphic rape, underage, bestiality or animal harm. Canon-typical action violence is fine (and action scenes are adored!) for any of the fandoms I've requested.
Wedding scenes, proposals and curtainfic are not quite my thing. Kidfic turns me off a story. I love moments of domesticity against the backdrop of danger and conflict that's the meat of most stories, but not so much serene post-canon universes where characters settle down to raise children.
Poking people in (or through) the eye, and snails, and things that have very many legs (spiders are cool) freak me out.
Please don't shy away from any sticky controversial subjects, just don't exploit them. I like seeing characters react to horror and trauma as people do. Dark topics are excellent, but in general I need a dash of hope. Bittersweet endings are one of my favourite things.
I love action/adventure and plotty stories—few things make me happier than a well-crafted action scene. Breathless chases and daring rescues are a quick way to my heart.
Subtle humour and banter are golden. In general I love people using humour to bridge distance and to cope under stress.
Worldbuilding, expanding backstories, and extraneous historical details (whether real or imaginary history) are magnificent to me.
AU of the "what if this canon event went differently" variety is excellent. However, I prefer stories set in the canon universe. In particular, mundane modern AUs are not my cup of tea.
Exploration of party dynamics and the various ways people come together are always interesting to me. Relationship negotiation, wary/suspicious characters forced to work together, established couples facing a change in their bond, all of these are great.
I also love long lazy mornings, kissing in the rain, little kindnesses, philosophical discussions, fluid power dynamics, and characters being treated as actual people with strengths, flaws, quirks, wants and needs, and ridiculous odd habits.
1. Torment: Tides of Numenera Any Character
Here's the thing: I love this game, its sort-of precedessor Planescape: Torment was an utterly formative experience for me, and Tides of Numenera filled the void for the sequel I never got. This is not to gush about PS:T---T:ToN is the subject of this request, so let's move on to that.
I didn't specify any characters because I would honestly hear about any of them, or if you just wanted to expand the game world in some weird and twisty direction, I'd be happy as a clam. (If you have access to the Numenera tabletop RPG, also feel free to supplement the canon by any aspect of that, it's all good.) The setting flexes and flows so well that if there is a worldbuilder in you, go for it.
Strong party dynamics are a draw for me, so any kind of moment between party members would be great. Fighting together, arguing together, having to get along in dire circumstances. Fire-forged friendships, give me all of them. Write me a discovery in the Valley of Dead Heroes, a conversation in a cliffside cafe in Sagus, a battle gone wrong because a piece of numenera blew up in their faces.
Or tell me more about Tybir's past or Rhin's future (while she's gone, goodness!), or Matkina meeting the Last Castoff and (potentially) realising she has a sibling worth bonding with. I'm not picky about the Last Castoff, though I slightly prefer a female version and strongly prefer one who will not fuck their companions over. To me, nuanced good guys are more fun.
As for shipping: T:ToN has a wild, weird world where mostly anything is possible, and I get why the writers decided to focus on worldbuilding and not do companion romances. That said, I have a soft spot for Tybir and Auvigne at any point in time.
2. Final Fantasy IX Any Character
I chose "Any Character" here because the nominated four--Garnet, Eiko, Amarant and Freya--are coincidentally my favourites among the lineup. Please feel free to write about all or any of them.
Final Fantasy IX is close to my heart because it's an unabashed steampunk fairytale: there's the scifi of the two worlds converging, the fantasy of souls migrating, the hilarious science of the airships, all married to the frankly cuddly character design.
It also manages to have a lot of delightful gaps in the story: Madain Sari is sort of my favourite mystery, because we see the legacy of the summoning tribe on display on the Eidolon Wall, we have Eiko as their last voice, but they clearly lived there for a long time. So there's one thing I would love to hear about: Garnet and Eiko exploring the past of their people.
Freya is, of course, a great untold story as well. The game kind of veers away from her in the latter half, and we never see her deal with the fallout of Burmecia's destruction. I like the inklings we get of her bond with Amarant; how she refuses to buy his lone wolf act and is every bit as capable a warrior as him.
Speaking of which: Freya and Amarant, as well as Garnet and Eiko, go into the elemental shrines in each other's company. I did always wonder what happened during these little-seen scenes. Freya and Garnet, who don't really interact in the game itself, also fascinate me. They're both strong, dutiful characters who keep their thoughts close to the chest; it would be lovely to see them working or talking together.
I'm not too partial to ship fic in this fandom; to me it's a tale of friendship and loyalty and adventure. However, if you want to do something shippy, Freya and Amarant do have a spark that I always enjoyed.
3. Chì bì | Red Cliff Sūn Shàngxiāng — Xiǎo Qiáo
Oh, my cherished Ancient Chinese fandom. I chose only the two women, but I genuinely love most of the cast, so if you want to incorporate any other characters, that is welcome. I'd prefer the focus to be on Shangxiang and/or Xiao Qiao though.
One of my favourite things about this movie is how effortlessly it includes these two female characters in the plot, the action and the emotional arcs as well. They both have clear motives and desires, and they both act to achieve them in whatever ways are available to them. And the story allows that: never does anyone question Xiao Qiao's courage in crossing the river, and once Shangxiang and her armed maids are included as part of the defence force at Red Cliff, they remain part of it.
Clearly they are both somewhat exceptional women, but the movie spends little time underlining this. It also never adheres to just one sort of strength in women: Shangxiang aids the army by hiding among Cao Cao's soldiers and bringing the map, while Xiao Qiao accomplishes the same with a cup of tea. ("Someone here shall pour that full heart onto the floor.")
This works for me equally well as a gen prompt or something more femslashy. They don't interact much in the movie beyond their delighted greetings when Shangxiang gets back: this implies to me that they know each other well. They probably would, since they're part of closely related households (Xiao Qiao's unseen sister was married to Sun Quan's deceased older brother). This would open venues for fic set before or after the movie: How did they first encounter each other? Did they find common ground in a love of horses and riding, perhaps?
I do believe in Zhou Yu and Xiao Qiao's marriage: if you go for shippier fic, I'd prefer some acknowledgment of it. Perhaps they have an open arrangement?
On that note: please make this as historical or anachronistic as you like. I love worldbuilding and setting detail, but this period can be a pain to research (I know, I've tried). If you happen to dabble in Chinese history, I'd love to hear all about it, but considering the movie itself takes many liberties with the period, I in no way require it.
I hope this helps to get you started. Take what you can use out of it and let the rest fall. Optional Details Are Optional. I talked a lot, but I'm easy to please, and steadfastly believe that when a writer enjoyed working on a story, that always shines through. Write the story that speaks to you best. Thank you so much for writing for me, and a merry Yuletide to you!

Dear Chocolate Box Writer
Thanks for signing up for Chocolate Box and writing for me! This is my third time doing this exchange, I believe, and it’s always so fun! I hope you enjoy it, too.
Below you’ll find the following:
About Me General Likes/Kinks General DNWs Fandom Specifics/Prompts
Mad Men - Peggy Olson/Stan Rizzo
Schitt’s Creek - Patrick Brewer/David Rose
The West Wing - Josh Lyman/Donna Moss, Leo McGarry & Josh Lyman & Sam Seaborn & Toby Ziegler & CJ Cregg
How I Met Your Mother - Robin Scherbatsky/Barney Stinson
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - Rebecca Bunch/Greg Serrano
Harry Potter - Remus Lupin/Sirius Black
I’ve tried to list some varied prompts for each fandom, but please don’t feel like you have to stick to what I’ve come up with. If the rest of my letter gives you another idea you’d like to write, I’d love to read it!
a little about me to start:
My AO3 name is SuburbanSun; you can also check out my Tumblr if you’d like, and my tags for each of my requested fandoms here:
Mad Men | Schitt’s Creek | The West Wing | How I Met Your Mother | Crazy Ex-Girlfriend | Harry Potter
general likes/kinks:
I’m a big trope fan in general– faves include rivals/enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, bed-sharing, trapped in an enclosed space, mutual pining, secret dating/sneaking around, slow burn, FWBs that turns into something more. Subversions of tropes are also great.
I have a great love for Secret Service/bodyguard/witness protection AUs and private eye AUs, and these days I’m (perhaps unhealthily) invested in US politics/news in my everyday life, so if you want to have any of my requested characters run for office, I’d never turn that down. Unless noted, I’m good with AUs for any of my requested fandoms. Epistolary fic, either as part of a story or as all of it, is always fun to me, if it’s up your alley. Smut is cool and fun and here are some kinks that I like to read: Teasing. Phone sex/sexting. Semi-public sex (not actually getting caught though). Workplace sex. Dirty talk. Oral sex. Playfulness/joking around during sex.
general dnws:
Superangst and sad endings. Gore/intense violence. Miscommunication that could super easily be avoided. Babyfic/kidfic/pregnancy. Self-harm/abuse. Noncon/dubcon. A/B/O, mpreg, incest, bestiality, hard kink. Poly/threesomes/orgies. Members of my ships being paired romantically with other people (unless it’s just briefly, on the way to an OTP-happy ending). First person POV.
fandom specifics/prompts:
Mad Men: Peggy Olson/Stan Rizzo
I love and miss this show so much. It was so smart and made me feel so many things, and Peggy Olson is one of my favorite characters in all of fiction.
Peggy and Stan is such a great ship, and one I was on board with from the very beginning. Omitting his boorish behavior early on, once they established a rapport, they were such equals, and he seemed to respect her so much, and vice versa. They got on each other’s nerves and knew how to push each other’s buttons, but that’s just because they connected so well and really got each other.
Prompts:
I absolutely adore the time period where they’re basically phone buddies. Maybe an AU where they get together earlier in the series, during that time? How their phone conversations evolve from discussing work to discussing everything to falling for each other (or realizing they already had)? Phone sex (or getting ever-so-close to it before realizing they’re in the office and it’s inappropriate) is a-okay here too.
In the same vein, epistolary fic could be really fun to play around with here. Maybe a story told through a series of interoffice memos, messages, notes in the margins of copy pitches and along the edges of spec art?
What are things like now that Peggy and Stan are working together and being together (and possibly living together)? It’s got to be frustrating at times but worth it in the end, right?
NASA/Space Race AU– Peggy’s a NASA scientist/engineer and Stan is an astronaut
---
Schitt’s Creek: Patrick Brewer/David Rose
This show is so funny, dry and smart and sweet at the same time. I love how absurdly out of touch the Roses are, and how the show balances their outrageousness with the everyday humdrum of the town of Schitt’s Creek, and I especially love how their edges have softened over their years in town.
David and Patrick took my heart by storm, and are the kind of ship that makes me clutch both hands over my chest as I watch them. I loved the slow burn of them coming together and falling in love, and how much they really just LIKE each other. They really know each other and see each other and it’s so lovely.
**I’ll be caught up with the show week to week, so feel free to incorporate anything current!
Prompts:
David and Patrick move into their first place together, and David keep breaking things because he likes to watch Patrick play handyman
I love the more sensible characters on the show teaching David how to adult. What perfectly normal things has he never experienced or done before that Patrick has to walk him through?
I’m interested in Patrick’s journey from being so shy and new to everything when he and David first kissed, to being bold enough to sing a love song to David in front of half the town. Tell me more about how he got to that point, and how (whether he knew it or not) David helped him get there.
---
The West Wing: Josh Lyman/Donna Moss, Leo McGarry & Josh Lyman & Sam Seaborn & Toby Ziegler & CJ Cregg
I love this show and every character on it. It’s become a comfort show, especially in this political climate, and I rewatch episodes frequently (and along with The West Wing Weekly podcast!). if we matched on the Leo & Josh & Sam & Toby & CJ grouping, feel free to choose any combo of those characters-- if you can’t fit them all in that’s perfectly fine. (Also, I’m not very interested in a non-political/White House AU for this fandom.) Prompts:
For Josh/Donna: I’d love something set early on where there’s the same level of UST and flirtation that they had back then. Josh getting jealous of someone who’s interested in Donna, or vice versa. Or maybe something that shows Donna’s competence– how she’s the one who keeps the clocks running on time in the office. Or trading barbs that lead to something more when they’re on opposing campaigns later on. Or-- there’s an episode where an asteroid is potentially heading for earth. What if (in that episode, or just applying that idea to another timeline) an asteroid/world-ending scare is what forces Josh or Donna to tell the other how they feel?
For Leo & Josh & Sam & Toby & CJ: Scenes from the first Bartlet for America campaign trail, or anything involving political competence or our heroes getting one over on the other side is great I LOVE the flashbacks in In The Shadow of Two Gunmen when we see how they all came together-- more like that would be amazing.
---
How I Met Your Mother: Robin Scherbatsky/Barney Stinson
This show is one I don’t revisit often these days, but when I do it’s always a Barney/Robin focused episode. I loved their relationship so much, how they fit together despite being so independent and yeah, maybe a little damaged. How they support and respect each other in ways that nobody else they were ever with did. I wanted SO BADLY for them to end up together (and in my mind, they do, because I refuse to acknowledge that finale as a thing that exists).
Prompts:
Any way you can make the show end with Robin and Barney together is GREAT.
I love the episode relatively early on where Barney is sick and Robin is reluctantly tasked with feeding him soup, etc. What if their feelings for each other had started to develop then?
Fake dating-- Barney needs Robin to be his plus one at a GNB event, or Robin needs Barney to pretend to be her boyfriend at a family wedding, or something equally tropey and delightful
---
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Rebecca Bunch/Greg Serrano
I ship Rebecca and Greg so hard, in spite of their many flaws, and was bummed that Greg was gone, and am now tentatively excited to have him back, (even if he does look a bit different). I just love their chemistry– bickery battle-of-wits style relationships are a huge favorite of mine. I’d be happy with a story set while Greg still lived in West Covina, or a future fic, or just a total AU. I also love every other character so feel free to get others involved.
**I’ll be caught up with the show week to week, so feel free to incorporate anything current!
Prompts:
Rebecca/Greg + any number of tropes– stuck somewhere together; inconvenient bed-sharing; fake dating, the works.
New Greg and new Rebecca decide they’re best off as just friends-- but it doesn’t quite work that way, and they keep being drawn together. Accidental makeouts can’t be helped, can they?
AU where Rebecca is a defense attorney and Greg is her wrongfully accused client. It’s totally unprofessional for her to be attracted to a client, and truthfully he’s kind of sarcastic and annoying. But she just can’t resist.
---
Harry Potter: Remus Lupin/Sirius Black
Harry Potter is kind of always there in the background as something I love, and as far as ships go, Remus/Sirius is my faaaave. I love the complexity of their relationship in the text, and the subtext (THE SUBTEXT). I love thinking about the Marauder era and how deeply all four of them loved each other, and thinking about Remus and Sirius discovering feelings that went even beyond that. I love the (brief) time between Hogwarts and when everything went to hell, when they were potentially happy and in love. I’m much more interested in something within the HP universe for them than a total AU.
Prompts:
Hogwarts-era pining! One of them has realized their feelings but thinks the other isn’t interested, and that kind of adolescent angst is so bittersweet.
Post-Hogwarts domesticity! Moving into a ramshackle apartment together, hanging moving photos of the Marauders on the walls, cuddling under three blankets because the heat is on the fritz but it’s their place so they love it anyway.
So, that’s that! I really hope you enjoy the whole process this Chocolate Box season, and thanks for participating! Happy writing!

The 10 Absolute best New Board Video games.
The Aesop for Youngster interactive publication is made to be appreciated through readers from any kind of age. The Nintendo Switch over, unlike its own rival gaming consoles the PS4 as well as Xbox One, makes use of little activity containers as opposed to disks, the 1st home console due to the fact that the Nintendo 64 Twenty Years ago to carry out thus. The video games are actually approximately the size from a shipping stamp, creating all of them the best dimension to become swallowed through small children. In the future Wednesday our company acquired a new trailer for Season 7, which focuses again on the build up to The Great Battle. I intended to skip past Bailey's chapters, Friedrick Thiessan's phases, and a couple of much more chapters that slowed the book down in the center. The Evening Circus is a magical, spectacular manual full of such sad and bittersweet agony that nearly purchased me to rips. I have actually likewise added my Task Food Article on top from my dishes webpage If you are looking for some of the dishes I have made for PFB, that is where they are actually concealing! I would certainly really love to elect, yet guide is on my Christmas time listing so regretfully I do not possess that but. While lots of journey activities are actually loaded with conversation and also talkative characters, Machinarium's actors of tin-can robotics never ever talk. Remarkable: Likewise participated in baseball growing and also made it to the Lilliputian AAA degree. Completed on two baseball provincial staffs, losing in the final in both 2011 and also 2012. Invested 3 seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey Game with the Camrose Kodiaks (2012-2015). Notched 31 points in 30 games for the Griffins final season in his ACAC novice campaign. It's still in beta - thus CUE files and also CDDA are actually certainly not but supported - but that operates a great deal of CD activities. In the event that you are actually still certainly not convinced, though, let's examine exactly what brings in these video games suitable sports. A storyline that presently has a hard time for credibility really isn't helped through charmless personalities as well as cringe-worthy conversation, and also visual flaws and poor AI simply create the activity think unfinished. In the beginning, I really felt overcome due to the fact that I didn't understand just how I will locate the amount of time to manage a recipe testing group while carrying out whatever else, however our team at some point created a system that worked for our team. Eric developed an exclusive blogging site only for my dish specialists. As a father from 5 as well as 7 year old gals, this truly sounds with me. Although, I do not really feel pleasant sharing the short article along with my other half since I seem like it diminishes her task along with the ladies a little. Viewing him dismantle those skeletal systems, alongside his final getting rid of, was just one of the most amazing minutes of the entire time. This seems when you browse the web with the game to download multiplayer updates it contaminates the activity reports. Should you have just about any concerns regarding where by as well as how to make use of just click the following web site, it is possible to contact us from our own site. Matching and also Attention: Matching as well as concentration video games to find out unique as well as possessive substantives as well as plural nouns. Probably the best innovative component of this video game is actually that you could play against real individuals. This is actually still some of the very best shootings ever before created, however a video game that has actually come out a many years eventually needs to still have the capacity to compete. I have actually made an effort a few from your various other dishes over recent 6 months approximately and truly enjoyed them (particularly Detox Tossed salad as well as Vegan Shepard's cake!) however I simply couldn't cover my mind around alcohol consumption one thing that green! The solution means that certainly not just will consumers be able to play video games that wouldn't typically operate on their system, yet video games are going to additionally install rapidly to the cloud-based service. There is actually the transcendent magma fields from Dimmuborgir, where Mance Rayder puts together his camp in period three, the section from the Haunted Rainforest" where Samwell Tarly as well as Lord Commander Mormont are attacked by white colored walkers, and Grjótagjá, the cavern that comes to be Jon Snow and also Ygritte's trysting place (and the spot that guests are generally very most thrilled about observing, states Benediktsson). Lake Myvatn, near the community of Akureyri, is where Mance Rayder's wildling soldiers makes camping ground in period 3, while the nearby cave from Grjotagja is where Jon Snow and also Ygritte make love. This's a tough book to recap, yet primarily pair of historical illusionists establish their two best pupils from each other in a magical contest. The greatest of which is actually that Chrome does not support Oneness, a 3D video game engine that works along with Firefox, Opera and also Trip. The impacts from nurturing, looking after daddies on their little girls' lifestyles can be determined in ladies from every ages. I would like to create this crystal clear that I understand this book does not possess the most initial concept as well as that likewise uses a considerable amount of tropes, yet I still possessed such a fun time reading that. I really love the personalities and also the shock aspect and the world. I have actually been creating these brownies due to the fact that they appeared on your blog post over and over again. I do have to offer this book some props, since this is actually the first time I have actually ever had to close a publication for 90 few seconds if you want to hysterically laugh. Inner demonstrations provide our team a concept of just what the video game looked like just before this initial reveal yet a bunch of work was actually poured into generating the completed expose. Listed here's every thing you should find out about the body, from the activities to find in the observing full weeks and also months and also the equipment that electrical powers this. Yet another strategy is actually to fail to remember combinationing in to the video game and as an alternative talk to players to endure an add in exchange for online activity currency.

Thoughts on Dreamin’ Sun v2
So after three weeks of waiting, my replacement copy of this arrived after the first one got here damaged, and now I can finally talk about this!
I’m still not entirely sure if I’ll end up having enough to say about each volume to make a post about each one but thus far it’s working out, and this isn’t going to be very long or anything.
Thoughts under the cut.
This continues to be the exact sort of fluffy shoujo I’ve been needing in my life. It’s great. It’s not necessarily as emotionally heavy as Orange, but it doesn’t need to be.
I still have no idea how to organize these posts since they’re not exactly reviews and I tend to write them like a day after I’ve read the volume my memory is a bit fuzzy, but we’ll see how things go.
I feel like a lot of people might REALLY dislike Shimana as a protagonist, but I actually really like her. I said this before, I think, but I still stand by it. We’re pretty different as individuals, but I relate to her more than I expected.
The whole sub-plot of her getting a make-over to try and impress Asahi really worked for me, which I kinda didn’t expect. Probably because the story was self-aware of how relatively pointless it all was. It thankfully didn’t indulge much at all in the trope-y ways that most media handles characters getting make-overs. Although I still really liked seeing Zen get all flustered over it. It was cheesy as fuck but I have a huge soft spot for Zen in general lol. I’ll get to him later.
I really like how Shimana’s whole crush on Asahi is being handled, and the whole theme of how there’s still value in putting yourself out there and taking risks even if you know you might fail, and that it’s still good to get your feelings across to someone even if you know it won’t work out.
It’s also still really nice how open all of these characters are with each other, at least compared to most shojo manga I’ve read. It’s part of why I like Shimana as a protagonist so much. She’s really open about her feelings and her insecurities.
Her whole date with Asahi was really cute, but also pretty bittersweet. I appreciate that he didn’t have a really overblown reaction to her makeover [it worked with Zen but it wouldn’t have worked with him], and that he made it clear that he thinks she’s cute either way. And in general it was nice seeing Shimana be happy and relaxed. Though that got pretty upturned by the start of the whole courtroom drama sub-plot. I obviously knew that the legal system was a theme in this manga from v1, but it still kinda surprised me to get a whole sub-plot about that sorta thing here. It makes sense, though. Before I get into my thoughts on it though, I should also say that I like how Shimana was able to recognize that Asahi wasn’t as happy as he was letting on. She’s a bit more perceptive of that sort of thing than a lot of other protagonists I’ve seen. It really helps defuse some potential misunderstandings.
Onto the whole legal drama sub-plot that takes up most of the volume, I gotta say, does this sorta stuff actually happen in Japan because holy fuck that was messed up. This girl gets forced to move to America with her family and marry some dude just because her dad accidentally hit him with his car??? The dude refuses treatment just so he can force this girl’s family to care for him???? The fuck????? And she sure didn’t seem fucking happy about it. It was all way more depressing than I expected from this sort of thing. The whole ‘Asahi and Manami both like each other but they think it’s unrequited’ thing wasn’t exactly groundbreakingly original but it was handled well and contrasted neatly with Shimana’s progression throughout the volume and what she learned about the importance of emotional honesty.
The whole thing also made me respect Asahi even more, with how much he wanted to help Manami. It also helped flesh him out even more in general, especially since we got a deeper look into his own emotional dishonesty. I like that Shimana was able to convince him to see her off, even though the whole thing was super bittersweet in general. And on that general note, I like that Shimana got up the courage to reach out to Manami and hear her side of things. In general it’s really nice that she didn’t write her off as being ‘a rival in love’, and actually wanted to know what she was feeling.
I wonder if we’re ever gonna hear from Manami again or if she’s, like . . . gone for good now. That’d be kinda harsh.
And then we get to Shimana’s confession scene to Asahi, which I was not expecting. But it makes sense, what with the whole theme of this volume. It probably wasn’t exactly the most, uh, appropriate time for her to bring up her feelings, but it’s good that she got them off her chest. And that there wasn’t any miscommunication. I like that she made a point to say that she wasn’t confessing to try and get him to date her, but just to get her feelings across. And that Asahi took it so well. Seeing him talk about how he respects her for being more confident and open than he is was really nice. Obviously her feelings weren’t returned, at least not then, but still.
I still hope they end up together. I said it before, but I’m basically the most vanilla person out there in terms of how I like my romances, so I just kinda love their entire relationship and I want things to work out for them. I’m not completely sure if I expect it to be the big end-game ship though, at least because in this sort of manga I feel like the protagonist’s first crush is set up to fail. And the fact that she confessed so early also might be a red flag in this sense. But we’ll see. Now that her feelings are out in the open and Manami’s out of the equation, I really wonder where things between them are even going to go now. I’m kinda worried that with this much progression early on, the story might get dragged out pretty soon. Who knows. At least since this is just ten volumes long it won’t get quite to Fruits Basket levels of bloating/padding.
After that I guess we had some set-up for drama in the next volume, with the whole chapter of Shimana begrudgingly inviting her school friends to her house and things going, uh, horribly wrong. This is another part in particular where some people might get really annoyed at Shimana, but I could totally feel for her. It was pretty obvious that she just felt left out and isolated, when all the attention was being directed away from her. It’s still kinda petty, yeah, but considering that Shimana started the story out running away from home because she felt neglected, it’s fitting for her character. And of course she pretty much knew the entire time how petty she was being, and as soon as she left she immediately felt bad, but knew how awkward it’d be if she just turned right back around.
I kinda avoided talking about Zen and Taiga since they weren’t incredibly important in this volume and it would have been a nightmare to try and remember all of their scenes and how the timeline worked out, so I’m just gonna talk about them here.
Zen is still amazing and adorable and more or less my exact sort of tsundere, but yeah I ain’t gonna deny that he says some awful shit to Shimana, which is one of the main reasons why I don’t ship them. Thankfully she at least knows how to fling his shit right back at him. He definitely feels a lot more . . . trope-y thus far than everyone else, but it’s fine. It works for him. Though it’s always a bit weird to me when characters like him have the whole ‘what is this??? feeling in my chest????? when I look at a cute person??????’ thing. It’s kinda weird. It at least makes enough sense, in that he’s always been vocally in denial about being into her, but still. He’s a bit of a perpetual fuck-up in general, like how badly he handled the whole ‘comfort Shimana after she gets rejected’ thing, but I still love him anyway.
I’m liking Taiga way more than I expected to. Part of it’s probably that I’m comparing him a lot in my head to Shigure from Fruits Basket and oh man does he win that contest, lol. In general I sometimes find myself comparing this manga to Fruits Basket, partly because there are some superficial similarities with the set-up, and partly because Fruits Basket is one of the few shojo I’ve actually read. So I may end up vaguely spoiling that manga sometimes, but I’ll try not to. But I’ll at least say that Shigure and Taiga are REALLY similar characters at first glance, but I’m so glad that Taiga is turning out to be a way better person. He works really well as a father figure, of sorts, who has enough flaws and issues to not be too perfect. I also like how he’s supporting all three of the main characters, in different ways.
He feels like he’s probably the current biggest source of mystery and story set-up right now. I hope there’s enough content there to keep the manga in general from feeling a bit devoid of story. I’m curious to see how the whole deal with his personal connection to the law industry, and by association his family, will unfold in the long run. I also feel like there’s more to his whole relationship with Miku than we know thus far, but I dunno what. She did say that they met through his job so it’s probably something law-related.
Also, the whole deal near the end with him being like ‘I’m fine with girls, but I don’t like *women*’ was kinda . . . weird, and I hope it makes more sense by the end. Thankfully I think we’re intended to find it a bit weird, since Shimana doesn’t get it either. I’m not sure exactly what he meant by it.
Whenever this sort of ~mystery~ is set up about a male character ‘not liking women’, it always makes me wish that the big reveal could just be that he’s gay, but it’s always something like ‘his girlfriend broke up with him and now he hates all women’ or whatever. I’m not really saying this as a genuine criticism or insult, but I’m definitely not expecting him to be gay, as much as I’d be happy if he was. Shojo manga isn’t much better than shonen manga when it comes to this sort of thing, and I don’t want to get my hopes up.
I kinda wish I had stuff to say about Miku but I really don’t thus far. I imagine we’ll learn more about her and her history with Taiga later, but right now she’s not super important. But I do love how she’s trying to be such a big sister figure for Shimana. It’s really cute.
I don’t really have many predictions or anything for the next volume, but I sure hope Zen can redeem some of his shittiness by handling this whole situation right, with him going out to bring Shimana out home. I’m also really excited to finally meet his brother. [I still think it’s kinda . . . weird that we literally got told about the unintroduced characters and when they’ll appear, though. It’s odd. And it’s making me wonder what’s gonna be the deal with the girl who won’t appear until volume eight. That seems pretty late to introduce a new character]
