I honestly don’t see Strade’s mind as complex at all! He thinks like a cocky animal, at the bare bones of it. He is strongest, swiftest, wittiest, and overall biggest animal in the room at all times, in his mind. He’s prideful. It’s why he gets so terrified by Rire, why he was too shocked by MC jumping him to care for the wound before brutalizing them, why he kills and kidnaps in the first place. Humans are animals. “Meat is meat,” as another not-so-nice man once said. 

Strade only has empathy the way animals do. Life or death empathy; otherwise he only shows compassion and sympathy, mostly for beings he considers pets. Everything else he does that shows ‘care’ or ‘love’ is self-satisfying and for his own gain. Manipulation and toying with his captive’s emotions. He’s been like that since he was a kid too. He was the biggest animal back on the playground, even if he had to hide it moreso. He sees life as a big old jungle full of other animals, most of which are his prey. If you can imagine a siberian tiger getting cocky and only killing for self-satisfaction, then you’ve got Strade. 

He’s not complex at all, at the end of it. He sees himself as an animal; a predatory animal. And MC, other captives, even Ren, they’re nothing but prey. Every good moment or seemingly romantic spark is part of the hunt! Like cats throwing a mouse around in their razor claws, letting it slip and think it’s safe for a moment before grabbing it again.

He taught that mentality to Ren, too. After Strade was ‘bested’, it shattered Ren’s current worldview. He built it back up with himself in Strade’s position. With Strade gone, Ren now chose himself as the biggest animal in the jungle. Except it was already biologically ingrained in Ren, being a beastkin. Hence why he becomes more cruel, ‘bigger’ than Strade as he gets older. Strade was never half the animal as Ren, his very own accidental protgégé

I Do Not Love You Anymore

"No! I don't" she sobbed as she dashed away from him.  

He reached out to grab her arm but she expertly dodged it, picking up her skirts as she ran into the back gardens.  

It was pitch black so Letitia could hardly see as she ran. Her vison was obscured by the tears streaming down her face as well as the inky blackness the surrounded her 

How could he still think that she loved him? How? Especially after everything that had occurred. The secrets. The lies. 

She could hear footsteps coming after her as she ran. She sighed. She would not escape him this night. Confrontation was inevitable. But she could meet him on her own terms. On her own ground. Briskly Letitia walked towards the center of the garden where a large willow stood.  

Soon he came into view, panting and gasping for breath. In the past Letitia might've felt sorry for them, but now she simply didn't care.

"Letitia."

"What do you want Kendric?" She surprised herself at how firm her voice was given thst she had previously been crying. I have already said all that I needed to. I am simply not in love with you anymore and I beg you to leave."

Kendric took a step forward and caught one of her hands, holding it tightly so she could not twist it away; even though she tried. "You are in love with me," he said. "Our love is strong. It always has been. You and I promised each other that we would always be in love with each other. That was our promisec"

"And that promise was broken!" she all but shouted, finally succeeding in wrenching her hand away from his. "It was broken through your lies, your deceit! If you were always going to love me then why did you hurt me? You hurt me Kendric! And once and for all, I do not love you anymore!.

Letitia turned away, bitter tears coming to the surface of her vision. She wouldn’t let them show. "Goodbye Kendric." Then she turned walking away from her past and towards her future.

She did not love him anymore.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? looking at (vetted) gofundmes for people trying to escape palestine and i don't know how many of you actually click on the gofundme links you reblog but i would like to point out, for what it's worth, just how amazing it is that so many have raised so much money. it may overall feel like a drop in the ocean but the fact that several gofundmes have raised tens of thousands of dollars is amazing. it is so expensive to leave gaza right now, and people still need money after they escape. but regardless of what propaganda the US, UK, canada, and other western nations are trying to pump out, people across the world are doing what they can to help these people survive. many of them are still very far from their goals (like this one and this one and this one) and some of them are very close to high goals (like this one), and some of them have reached almost double their original goal.

and that's not even addressing direct aid or organizations that take continuous donations for distribution of food, menstrual products, etc. the PCRF has raised $16,000,000 of their target goal of $20,000,000 to fund current aid and long-term relief efforts in gaza. ANERA's febuary 13th update discusses the material ways they helped palestinians today:

my point is, it often feels like the world is turning a blind eye to palestine. but i would like to point out that there is an important difference between "the world" and "western political leaders and media narratives". a breathtaking amount of real people, the people who make up the world, are trying to help. in the face of israel attempting to commit genocide, the world is saying No. These people deserve to live. and literally sending millions of dollars internationally, through the internet connection that israel has desperately been trying to destroy.

it may not feel like it matters in the grand scheme of things. but to the people who get fresh clothes, or a hot meal, or blankets, or the kids who get new toys, or to the people who are able to bring their families to safety, it matters to them. go make someone's day better. i've linked so many options with ways to do that.
