I know people often speculate about Crocodile and if that is his "real name", either implying he has a deadname or his name is another one of those Hidden Ds (much like Roger and Law)

And like. This is just me but personally I would prefer it if he didn't have a deadname at all. It already grinds my gears when people use Sanji's "real name" when he himself hates it and doesn't want to be called by it, and so god knows if Crocodile is trans then the fandom misgendering is going to be obnoxious enough, you don't need to add a """real name""" into that mix

So. Personally, I would prefer it if Crocodile really was his birthname. It would just help us avoid some toxicity, ya feel me? Like people can't deadname him if he has no deadname to begin with?

That said.

I do find it interesting how Crocodile never actually introduces himself during the story to like. Anyone. Like we never see him go "yes hello you may call me Sir Crocodile" or anything

In fact, like, very specifically, when we finally get Crocodile's face reveal in Chapter 155, he explicitly says

"Call me what you will"

Of course, the citizens of Nanohana had just been calling him a 'hero', 'desert king' and 'the Guardian Deity of Alabasta' in the previous page, so his comment is mostly just in reference to the various titles people were shouting out rather than his actual name

And to be fair, the dude is Extremely Famous, he doesn't have to introduce himself because everybody already knows who he is

But it's still an interesting detail, isn't it?

(Also tangentially related, but Crocodile never seems to object to people calling him by cutesy nicknames either? Like to be fair, he probably couldn't object to Ivankov calling him "Crocoboy" to begin with, but he never seemed to mind Bon-chan calling him "Zero-chan" repeatedly either, nor did he object to Buggy's "Cro-chan" 🤔)

If nothing else though, considdering even his former bounty was associated with the name we know him by, it's possible that even if he had a deadname, "Crocodile" could be his "pirate nickname" that he chose to roll with. Kind of like "Strawhat" or "Blackbeard" or "Hawkeyes" etc, a title people use so often you kind of forget the person's actual name

Or he might have that Hidden D. Which, if he did, I'd be more inclined to believe would be more like with Law (where he might've been told as a child to keep it a secret). Instead of the whole "names being merged into one to hide the D" like with Roger, since that one was a specific, intentional move from the World Government

The only thing about the Hidden D is that. I just. I think it'd be a little silly. Like. Crocodile doesn't have to be a part of the D clan in my mind. Like I don't need that twist. But to be fair, there is an argument to be made for Crocodile being a D. Like if his goal is to destroy the WG and the World Nobles (that being the reason he wanted military force and Pluton to begin with) then ARGUABLY it would be fitting for him to be a D, since the D clan are the "Natural Enemies of the Gods". Also, there's the whole trend of D clan members always dying with a smile on their face. Like sure Crocodile hasn't died (yet) but he definitely went to Impel Down (hell) with a big ol' smirk on his mugshot (chapter 413 cover), which is close enough. So there is an argument to be made for Crocodile having a fullname with a D that's been kept a secret

im trans so all of the characters get to be funky about gender as a treat. 

Shadowheart is a trans woman in my heart. I don't know I think something about her just screams that to me, you know? And I think the idea that she transitions socially quite young, young enough that the name her parents call her when they see her was a name she chose herself, I think that just scratches an itch in my brain. Extra points for the fact that Shar's games means she likely can't remember so much of her own journey with gender, how strange and uncomfortable and isolating that would feel. Its just a story I think is interesting and would be fun to explore thematically. 

Gale is a trans guy because I'm projecting. Those enchanted underwear he has? Magic packer. Also something about his personality just screams trans guy to me. Again, projecting. 

Wyll is also a trans guy. This is because A) I like him and he's cool, so he gets my highest honor- the trans-ification bean. And B) because it makes his relationship to heroism and his ideals have such a nice texture. His gentlemanly, heroic beliefs become both an expression of how fundamentally good he is and also a fun bit of gender expression. He's playing the role of the dashing princely figure both because he wants to help people and because that's what manhood is to him. Also it colors his relationship with his dad in a way I really like. 

Karlach for me is like. She could be anything. Trans woman, nonbinary, cis, genderqueer, literally anything goes. She just has a fun gender expression and I think she's best taken as just, like. Her gender is that she's Karlach. 

Lae'zel is cis to me. But her culture has very different rules and I feel like her relationship with gender would reflect that. I feel like she'd be a cis woman, but insofar as she doesn't really want to be anything else. Like, she doesn't dislike womanhood it just doesn't matter to her as much as cool weapons and dragons do. And I like that, its fun to examine gender in that way. 

Astarion is also cis to me. I've seen headcanons that I like well enough but I don't know, I just cannot help but see him as cis. I think he has a funky relationship with gender and expression, but he's ultimately a guy. He'd love drag though. He gives me that vibe. The performance would be appealing to him. Maybe he doesn't do drag himself but he'd love the scene. 

Halsin is nonbinary to me and I will not be accepting criticism at this time.  This is just me blatantly pointing the tran-ification beam at a character I like and I do not care.

Okay! So these are kinda hard to do like, "reactions" for, so I went w some general HCs! Hope that's cool! These are mostly Pre-transition as well! Levi genderfluid Hc ftw too.

When you tell Lucifer, he doesn't give much of a reaction. You assume he doesn't care, maybe worse, he's judging you a little. He approaches you later to make sure it's okay he mentions it to his brothers. You're a little shocked but you give the okay, you see in his private text chat a message he had sent. 'MC is a boy. You will prefer to them as such from now on.' As your relationship grows closer, you small efforts from him. Your dead name is crossed out on old paperwork, and anything new always has your real name on it. When you grow even closer, you confess how nervous you were to tell him, he chuckles at you, smiling before grasping your hand, "my love, I adore you no matter what."

When you tell Mammon, he has a couple questions. He's a little confused, and kind of invasive, but he's got the spirit! "So I call you a boy right. Like, he should give me some of his money." You chuckle and nod. He messes up a few times at first but it's swift and you don't have to correct him, he does it himself. He doesn't make a huge deal out of it, but he makes a face when he catches himself. When you get together, he will loudly introduce you as his boyfriend. You're his pride and joy. Months later, you casually mention how nervous you were to tell him, and he makes a faux offended look, "I'm yer best man! How could ya be nervous to tell me anything? I like ya no matter what."

Telling Leviathan is a little nerve wracking. You're sitting down, playing games for a hours until you've worked up the nerves to say anything. "Can I tell you something Levi?" "Sure! What's up?" He instantly thinks you hate him. You tell him what's up, and a blush fills his cheeks. "Can I tell you something too?" You nod, smiling at him. "I think I'm genderfluid." With that, you both grow closer quickly. He's very accepting, you don't have to tell him much because he's already done all his own research, and had a few trans friends. Later in your relationship, you casually mention how nervous you were to come out to him, he hesitantly grabs your hand with both of his, and kisses it softly, "I like you for you, MC. Don't forget that, okay?" He averts his gaze, blush rushing to his cheeks.

Telling Satan is a little more anxiety inducing than you would have thought. But you had grown quite close, and it almost felt like lying to not tell him sooner. He puts his book down for you as you explain. He nods, asks, if that's all, and smiles at you. "Nothing could change how I feel about you MC." He's quick to change with no issues. You mention months later how nervous you had been, and he frowns a little, "I'm disappointed I made you so nervous, but I'm glad to have you now, as you are."

When you tell Asmodeus, he isn't suprised. "I had a feeling." He'd smile and say. He hugs you, asks if you need anything, or how he can support you. He has many questions. Some about the name, how you chose it, just personal but not super invasive questions, mostly friendly. It turns into a long talk about what your gender means for you, and what he can do to be supportive. After you both got together, months later you mention how you had been anxious to mention anything, and a soft smile graces his soft features. "MC, I love you to the moon and back, for who you are."

Beelzebub is a little nervous when you sit down with him while you're baking together. "Is everything okay, MC?" You explain things to him, voice quiet. Once you're done, a small smile crosses his face. "That's it?" You nod, he chuckles a little, "you had me nervous!" He pats you on the back, before asking if he can hug you. After a few months, you had both gotten together, and you had mentioned how anxious you were to bring it up to him. "Why would you be? Did I give you a reason to be nervous?" He seems troubled for a moment before you explain, and a smile graces his face before he grabs your hand. "I love you for you, MC. Exactly who you are."

Things have always been a little rocky with Belphegor. Because of the incident. But as you grow closer, you eventually tell him the news. He nods, "oh okay." He has no questions, he knows a little about it from Lilith, but that's about it. He is fairly quick to pull you back into his chest and lull you both to sleep. A couple months go by, you've started your relationship, and the topic comes up again. He asks a couple of questions, such as how you picked your name. You casually mention how nervous you had been when you told him, "really? I guess I'm not suprised, I am a little scary." He turns over in his spot to face you, "I love you for who you decide you are."

When it comes to transmasc representation in old media no one fits better than Oscar François de Jarjayes from "The Rose of Versailles" (1979) (Lady Oscar for my Italian friends). So much so that at some point I thought of having Oscar as my second name.

He's a fictional character set in a story based off of real-life Marie Antoniette as a teenager.

He's raised as a boy because he's the youngest of six, and never actually goes "back" to being a woman, because he dies fighting during the French revolution.

Oscar’s identity is a cause of great conflict in the manga and the anime. His agency is constantly taken into question, everyone around him is convinced he’s being forced to be a man by his father, when he’s constantly rejecting womanhood.

Transgender Identity as Parental Abuse, And Oscar's Agency

It's important to mention that Oscar is almost always referred to as a woman. The people close to him know he’s not cisgender, and always refer to him as a lady. But people who have never met before assume he’s a boy. 

He's always told to be more feminine by those around him except, most of the time, by his father. His father's decision to raise him as a boy is actually portrayed as dramatic, with thunder and lightning.

His friend André calls him Oscar while André’s grandma scolds him, telling him to call him Milady Oscar because of his lower rank as a servant. 

And even as Oscar tells her he likes it better this way, André’s grandma brushes her hand on a dress, reminiscing that Oscar could be wearing that instead of his boy clothes, and that she hopes one day he'll attend a ball dressed as a beautiful lady.

Later she drunkenly moans: "Oh poor Oscar, there's a conflict inside of [him], [he] doesn't know whether to be a man or a woman!"

Throughout most of the show, actually, people think Oscar acts like a boy because it's his father's wish, when it's Oscar himself deciding to present as a boy.

Oscar's agency is always questioned, just like it is for transmasc people and trans men (as well as the vague entity known as “the children”), supposedly "brainwashed" young girls. Many transphobes actually think trans kids are forced to transition because of their parents.

The recent decision in Texas to investiagte and remove transgender children from their families on the basis of “child abuse” echoes this sentiment, for example.

In the very first episode, André tells him "It's not too late! Become a woman, Oscar!" as he runs away. And even though he hated the prospect of becoming the Captain of the Guards, he chooses that over becoming a woman. 

The narrator even says "And so Oscar chose to become a man."

He's running away from his assigned role at birth by doing something he hates. He could have chosen to stay and "become" a woman, like Andrè and his grandma say, but he doesn't want to.

As his first assignment as captain, he’s ordered to dress as Marie Antoniette to take her place during a planned kidnapping, and he reacts by throwing away the dress and walking away angrily. His father actually sees his manhood as a costume he can take off whenever it’s necessary, Oscar sees it as his identity.

And even after Oscar's father decides to marry him off, he still doesn't want to play the role of a woman. But nothing seems to convince people that he's acting of his own accord.

Alternatively, many characters treat him like a silly girl who’s just playing pretend. It’s true that Oscar is young, but his identity in manhood is just as strong as those of the men around him.



Detransition Because of Social Pressure

Oscar doesn't express any wish of wanting to be a woman, except once when he dresses as a woman hoping to make a man fall in love with him, but learns the man is already in love with Marie Antoinette and desists.

Marie Antoinette also feels attracted to him, even though she says she’s disappointed Oscar was born a girl.

Which I think is very relatable for a transmasc person, to feel like we're unlovable as we are. Oscar trying to fit in his "womanly role" (the one time in the entire show) isn't really out of place, it's reminiscent of transmascs and trans men detransitioning because we're not accepted by the people around us.

Andrè, confesses to being in love with him (when he's seen him in nothing but men's clothes his whole life, might I add. He's not attracted to Lady Oscar, he loves Oscar the Captain of the Royal Guards.) but Oscar pushes him away and joins the army instead.



Transgender Identity Seen as Childish

At this point, his father regrets letting Oscar be "too unfeminine" and plans to marry him off.

This, to me, is another aspect of being trans even in a supposedly accepting family. There's an age threshold at which it's not acceptable to be trans anymore, that it's something childish that eventually the teenager will forget and join in their role in society. Then there’s the entitlement that families feel they have over children.

Yet another man, his rival, asks for his hand, but Oscar refuses. Then, as a Commander in the Army, he affirms his leadership on his troop, making yet another man, André’s friend this time, fall in love with him.

Most of these men have seen Oscar appear exclusively as a man. All of them, to my knowledge, are aware that Oscar isn't a cisgender man, but Oscar never presents as a woman, and he still manages to make three men fall in love with him.

Oscar realizes that he's in love with Andrè as well, and switches to fighting against the Monarchy with him, but dies by his side during the Storm of the Bastille.

The Return of Oscar

In a completely non-canonical book that only came out in Italy, Oscar doesn't die and instead becomes the Black Knight (a character that appears in the original manga), fighting against injustice.

It's revealed that he didn't die, instead just lost his memory. Once he regains it, he moves to England and lives a quiet life as Rose.

But that doesn't last, and he goes back to France to become the Black Knight. This is, in my opinion, just another instance of detransition that doesn't last (it's non-canonical as well). After all, Oscar is alone in England, the people that previously supported his masculinity are dead or have disavowed him, like his father.

He also kisses Napoleon. This man can't stop making men fall in love with him.

The story ends with Oscar leaving for America, but all of this is not canonical anyways.

In conclusion, Oscar's identity in manhood is constantly questioned or completely disregarded. Even as he says "My duty as a soldier comes before being a woman" everyone assumes he's simply being edgy.

Oscar is born to be a soldier and dies as a soldier. But being a soldier isn't even something he wanted to be in the first place. He just took on the role to avoid becoming a woman, both in the sense of getting married and starting a family, and in the sense of being seen as a woman.

Really, Oscar uses "soldier" as a short-hand for "man."

My Ripp Grunt headcanons

It was about time I put them all in one place because as you can tell I’m obsessed with him and have a lot😭 Some of them might make no sense whatsoever or sound weird or are probably me just projecting but who cares lol. If I forget any or think of more I’ll add them later. Also it’s going to be really long…

Anyway… “So Kai, how much do you like Ripp???”

Birthday

I have come up with a birthday for Ripp. December 13, 1988. (Yes I know December 13 is the same date as Taylor Swift lol.) He is a Sagittarius (that’s canon but that’s why I picked that birthday). I see sims 2 Strangetown as starting in 2005 and he was age 16-17 back then. He’s a year and several months younger than Tank and 4 years older than Buck.

Height

Kind of short for a guy, about 5.5. Tank and Johnny are significantly taller and he hates it.

Identity

He is bisexual and transmasculine. Maybe non binary too, specifically a non binary man (like a demiboy or something.)

Ripp has always been attracted to all genders. He doesn’t really care about that (can fit pansexual too.) He is open to seeing multiple people at once so is polyamorous too. Which can be one way of explaining the romance aspiration. And yes, he has a crush on both Ophelia and Johnny.

He is transgender and knew something was up from an early age. Like a lot of transmasc people he went down the “tomboy” to trans pipeline. He didn’t fully realise what being trans meant and that that was what he was until he was about 14 though. Ripp chose his name himself, idc. He thought it was cool.

Johnny and Ophelia were very supportive of him being trans. He had them at school when the bullies found something new to pick on. As was his mum Lyla who he is very close to. Buck didn’t fully understand at first because of being really young but is still very supportive. (Also Buck ended up becoming Rebecca and is transfem herself but that’s another character headcanon lol) Lyla helped him start HRT.

General Buzz though… I don’t see General Buzz as entirely transphobic. I think he’s the kind of person to prefer having sons, but is still weird about Ripp being trans. He is kind of against it at first but gets used to it. He would also want Ripp to be a man in the “right” way (based on a Tumblr post I saw.) He messes up pronouns sometimes but at least tries. He still thinks Ripp is a fucking lazy ass disappointment overall though 😭 “yeah you are trans or bi, whatever, but you are still my worst son ever.” I think he would be more concerned if any guy Ripp dated was an alien over the fact they were a guy (oops, he already has a crush on Johnny Smith.) General Buzz’s conflicting views about Ripp with Lyla also contributed to those two’s strained relationship. He sees a lot of Lyla in Ripp, in both appearance and personality and he hates being reminded of her.

Tank was in a similar position of getting used to it over time. Didn’t mean he stopped wanting to beat his ass all the time though. He had some internalised stuff he had to deal with himself though (being his own person with his own wishes and also, gay.)

Ripp took Lyla disappearing very hard, especially since she was the one helping with his transition. He was on his own. Things got complicated because General Buzz was still kind of unsupportive. Ripp snuck out for several days to get top surgery by himself and General Buzz was very angry about that.

Personality

He’s a very sweet person overall. He’s friendly with almost everyone and hates conflict, but if he is confronted he loves taking the piss out of them. He’s very positive most of the time despite his terrible life. Very talkative and can go on and on. Tries to make a joke and lighten the mood with just about everything, including himself, even if he does go too far sometimes (which he instantly feels bad about if he makes someone sad.) Definitely swears a lot which his father hates, but he loves annoying his father.

Relationships

I don’t think he has a bad relationship with his father and Tank forever. They make up at one point and maybe they don’t become really close but they at least get along somewhat again (no horrible PSP ending in my sims game.)

He was very close with Lyla, probably the most out of all three of Lyla’s sons so he was devastated when she left, and even more so when he found out she died. One of the few supportive people in his life and she was gone.

Him and Buck (or Rebecca later) are very close due to them both having a strained relationship with General Buzz. Rebecca looks up to Ripp a lot. Also they end up both being transgender which they make a joke out of later. “I can’t believe we’re both Grunts and trans.)

He’s been friends with Ophelia and Johnny since middle school. He hangs out with them a lot and prefers being with them to being at home. He loves being an idiot with Johnny but is sweet with Ophelia. He fell in love with Ophelia first then Johnny.

He met Lilith after she also ran away from home. The two became close because of that. They love poking fun at each other. He’s afraid Lilith will make fun of him if he tells her he likes her (but Lilith likes him too.)

Self insert time, he’s really sweet around Lana. Ripp talks a lot and Lana barely talks at all due to their extreme shyness but he doesn’t mind. He cares for them a lot. He is the most calm and gentle to them and loves listening to them ramble about their interests. He might want to marry her.

Music Career

Ripp was always interested in music, mostly rock music but he is open to other genres as well. I see him as being very into Nirvana. He started playing guitar at school with Johnny Smith, covering their favourite songs. Lyla got him own guitar, and he also started writing his own songs, uploading them to MySpace or something.

At one point he runs away from home and gets a trailer for himself. Away from his father, he has a lot more freedom to do what he wants with his life. He’s still working at the gas station and going to a lot of music labels and he eventually gets signed to one. He has his first major song released through them.

Ripp is the lead singer and guitarist in a band as well as a soloist, with Johnny Smith, Lilith Pleasant and Mercutio Monty, the last two he meets and befriends at one point. (Idk what to name this band yet lol.) Johnny also plays guitar, Lilith is the bassist and Mercutio plays the drums.

His music style is very diverse. And I’m also going to base them off Lana Del Rey albums and songs because why not. His very early work is very acoustic. The first ep and debut album he releases has influences of grunge, surf rock and psychedelic rock. A lot of guitar sounds. And whatever sounds come out of AKA Lizzy Grant.

He goes through some tough things in life which is why he takes a break between his debut and his second album. The sound of this album is quite different. I think Ripp was an unplanned child. Lyla was happy to have him but General Buzz not so much, he kind of hated Ripp from day 1.

He was a “problem child” at least in General Buzz’s eyes and also the schools he went to where he had behaviour issues and struggled to focus. His dad made him see a psychologist. He’s autistic (or aspergers back in the late 90s-early 2000s, also I don’t think General Buzz is the most up to date) and has ADHD. I don’t think this helped with General Buzz already seeing him as a disappointment. Ripp gets really fixated on music (both certain artists and creating it) or certain tv shows or very unconventional things that are kind of uncomfortable for some people. Like literally just the subject of woohoo interests him and he wants to know everything about it lol. I think he fixates on philosophical stuff too like death and the purpose of life (another thing that can lead to some uncomfortable conversations.) Very unlike the stereotype of autism because he’s really outgoing and social too, but it is a spectrum.

I think Ripp fits the pleasure aspiration more than the romance aspiration to be honest. “I wasn’t born a dude Steve,” Eddie whispered.

“Wha-what does that mean?” Steve asked, not moving his hands from Eddie’s face.

Like I said in a previous post, he has auDHD, but I imagine he wasn’t diagnosed until much later on due to misconceptions surrounding the conditions in his youth.

The actual diagnosis came a couple of years before the show started. Scrooge suspected it the whole time (because there’s definitely something neurodivergent going on with Donald and Della), and nudged him in the right direction.

Gyro normally doesn’t like hugs due to sensory and emotional issues. He never fully gets over it, but does accept them from Boyd on occasion. Boyd learns pretty quickly to ask Gyro if he’s okay with getting a hug and not to take it personally if he says no.

Donald and Della’s journeys with raising the boys share some similarities with Gyro and Boyd so they help out whenever they can. Donald doesn’t mind Gyro that much and is very supportive of Huey and Boyd’s friendship, while Della never gets over the Oxychew thing but would never dream of it getting in the way of Huey and Boyd being besties.

What can you tell us about the bots before they died? I’m interested in their lives before being robots

Not a lot of information was initially set in stone by the AU's original creator Surge, and I was always a little hesitant to expand on their previous lives. But I have some ideas, and hey, no time like the present?

We'll start with Frank, because he had the least info on him of the original three as far as I can recollect. Frank Saddler was an African American man who grew up in southern Appalachia. His father was a preacher for a small church. Frank was a good student as a child and his father tried to get him as much access to an education as possible. Unfortunately, their church was the target of arson when Frank was about twelve. Frank got out by smashing through a window, though he was left with some scarring from the glass. He lost his faith after that, and his relationship with his father became strained. The rest of his childhood, he lived with a few different branches of his extended family, mostly going where extra hands were needed. He was older than Tony by maybe 7-8 years; he was about twenty-four when the flyers for the Dandy Candy mines caught his attention and he took the jobs overseas and twenty-six when he met Tony and Jack. He worked in the processing factories more than the mines, though he did both. He was killed when a Copper Elephant collapsed a smokestack.

Tony Sapienti was the first born States-side to an Italian immigrant family in Chicago, who grew up to be a trans man. His deadname was something very American/English sounding, a pattern that would be later repeated with Jack; even though his family didn't cut their children (Tony, Jack, and a middle sister named Patience) off from learning Italian (which would've been hard in their community) they were pretty adamant about their children being 'successful Americans.' Tony chose his name to sort of snub that. He went to school until he was thirteen, but as he dealt with the one-two punch of puberty and realizing he was transgender, he dropped out to try and recreate himself. His parents were not accepting of his new identity, and he drifted in and out of his family's life. He wanted more than anything to be a singer, but never found an opportunity. He took the Dandy Candy mining job when he was eighteen, hoping for both a legitimate job and a clean slate among people who didn't know him. He suffocated after a cave-in during the Weekend War.

Jack Sapienti was Tony's younger brother by three years. His parents held him to high expectations as their "first son," so much so that they doomed him from the start. He was frail and nervous from a young age, and the ADHD that plagued his schooling hadn't even started to be defined by Western medicine. However, he did stay in school until he was fifteen. Tensions then came to a head with Jack and his father, and Jack fled from home. He went looking for Tony, who he'd always admired and considered safe, only to learn he'd just missed him-- Tony was headed to the shipyard to go overseas to the Dandy Candy mines. Terrified to return home, Jack rashly lied about his age and got on the ship after Tony, only revealing himself to the dismayed Tony after the ship had left port. When they got to the mines, it was obvious Jack was not cut out for the general work, so the foreman assigned him to be Tony's assistant. This is how they came to be in the same area when they died; Jack was crushed by the cave-in.

"Locke Smith," or Balthazar Ash, was a born and bred English businessman-- not aristocracy, but pretty damn close. Born in the 1860s, he had full schooling, including higher education, and had a successful early career organizing mundane goods trading. By chance, he discovered the true magical nature of one of his client's dealings, and being both discrete and shrewd, he began to ingratiate himself in the hushed world of magic trade, creating the alias "Locke Smith." He was no magician himself, but he soon became a popular figure in European magic circles for his ability to connect resources to patrons. Demand grew, and he unscrupulously dipped into darker and darker artifacts. This got him into enough trouble that he fled to the United States, eventually settling in San Diego specifically to supply the more "discerning" members of the Cavalcadium-- which eventually included Thadeus Becile. Locke provided the materials for Dee's construction, and then later volunteered himself to Thadeus to become a Rock Candy powered robot when he became terminally ill.

Dee was once Della Stanek. Della lived in the Everglades, south of Lake Okeechobee, the daughter of farmers who grew up on the cultural cusp between early agricultural developers and the Gladesmen, with some Seminole heritage. She grew up wild, an only child with little schooling and little care for ambition. As she grew older she became a talented wood-crafter, handy-woman, and hunter, her skills refined through the necessary self-reliance of living in a remote area. She tended to go barefoot whenever possible, though this was mostly at home due to the dangers of snakes and sawgrass. She had a daughter, Hannah, with her Gladesman beau Cliff out-of-wedlock when she was twenty-two. She never traveled far beyond her home region during her life. Both Della and Hannah perished in the Okeechobee Hurricane of 1928, when Della was twenty-eight and Hannah was six. Della had no connection to Thadeus before becoming Dee; it was simply bad luck that his spell, when it couldn't find Delilah Morreo's soul, plucked Della's from the beyond.

Oh I do, actually, ty for asking!

First one is Kaiki, who was going to be the protagonist for my Ein wip, but now I'm rebooting it so I think he'll ✨️shine✨️ the most as a supporting character.

He is trans, black, and Brazilian, and ace too. He dyed his hair so now it's blond instead of black, and he wears it in pigtails. He aso has two younger sisters (Luna and Stella) and an older one (Tatiana). His parents are divorced and he lives with his sisters and his aunt. I had such a haaard time figuring him out, because he originally was just a blank slot in the place of a protagonist but now he's fleshed out I'm taking him from the spotlight lol. But it's good since he's so fleshed out! He's very sex-repulsed but he can kinda stand romance. - About the story, he is an ambue (non-magic person living in the normal, living world) that gains magic someway (i decided it was going to be x way but since i also changed the magic system ill have to see) and gets recruited into Onemia, one of the multiple hidden magical countries in a secret web of nations. The story revolves around he and the main cast trying to avoid a war between Onemia and other hidde countries (also now the story makes much more sense bc with the protagonist i chose they have much more on the line if a war starts so it drives the plot better~).

Then I have ✨️Megan✨️. He's another trans man from a different story, Totsuka and Megan. He is from a completely magical world but can't learn magic because his guardians won't let him and nobody wants to teach him coz he got a magical condition (still figuring this one out, again remaking the magic system lol) so when a traveler, Totsuka arrives on his town, looking for a partner, he offers himself in exchange of being taught magic by her. The story is about them two going traveling together and saving some different people and nations :). Now, I like Megan a lot, he is also aroace (I really should make more aroallo ocs) and I didn't have that much of a hard time with him in general but boy his design was a pain to figure out. I think I changed it like three times in a row once. He is kind of the more grounded person between him and Totsuka because she is pretty hotheaded and stubborn while he is the most pragmatic out of the two. I'm still fleshing out their exact dinamic, but one thing I'm very fond of is that they have complementary personalities, AND despiste their designs not completely paraleling each other, their main colors are also complementary to each other :3 Totsuka's hair is v long, blue, and a main part of her design. Megan's shirt is bright orange and most of his design is also some tone of brown or toned down nude, so it revolves around that orange. He also is pretty disphoric, unlike Kaiki.

Next up is Lucy, also from Ein (same wip as Kai). She greycupioaro and a trans girl. Unlike the rest of the cast, she is actually USAmerican and white. She is also ambue and gnc, and one of the which I had the easiest time with. Her hair is blond and short and her favorite color to wear is light blue. Her full name (i had so much fun with this one!) is Lucy Diana Portland. Diana because of the marvel hero. BUT there is a special arc im planning where she goes missing and loses her memory, to join a group of the special forces of another magical country. In that arc she adopts the name of Fennice White -> i have lots of characters for this special force but not very detailed yet

Concept for Like A Dragon 9:

Given how both of the big bads have been his brothers, Ichiban decides to head off any potential future trouble by tracking down every woman that Masumi Arakawa had a relationship with. His most recent mistress died a few years back of Covid, but he finds out she did have a son, Kenji. Ichiban tracks Kenji down to a small fishing village, but when he gets there, the trail goes completely cold. No one has even heard of the guy.

While he's in the fishing village, he meets a tall, beautiful, and powerful woman named Kyoko. She takes part in some underground fights and is having trouble with a small-time local gang leader. He helps her fight the gang, and she reveals that she knew Kenji, but she hasn't seen him in years. But he always resented Arakawa for abandoning him like that. Ichiban realizes that abandoning people was a real pattern for his father and the two part amicably.

A year or so later, the Seiryu Clan is suffering from a power vacuum. It's still the largest remaining Yakuza family in Japan, but no one has been able to maintain control for very long. Suddenly, Kenji Arakawa returns, and he's the small-time gang leader! Also, he and Kyoko must have settled their differences because she's his girlfriend now.

He takes over the Seiryu Clan and engages in a brutal but insanely reckless purge of all of their enemies. Among the targets are Ichiban himself and all of his friends. Ichiban doesn't believe it and goes to Kyoko to find out what's going on. She tells Ichiban that "Kenji" is a total fraud (duh), with him having overheard their conversation and tracked down the real Kenji. That's how he faked the DNA test, and the only reason she's working with him is to get Kenji back.

I should note at this point that there are several fights with Kyoko. She's the first female enemy in the series, and she often has other women fighting with her, too. She's an extremely capable fighter and easily Ichiban's equal if not superior.

Kyoko proves herself a capable leader, but Kenji is erratic and unstable, a small timer playing in the big leagues. Some of they younger Yakuza start to respect Kyoko far more, but the older, more conservative Yakuza make all sorts of derogatory comments about Kyoko, which he almost seems to encourage.

Meanwhile, Ichiban tracks down where Kenji is supposedly being kept, but when he gets there, it's an ambush, and it looks like he's killed in an explosion. The Seiryu Clan celebrates this at a hostess bar, but the vibe seems off. Something isn't right. The younger Yakuza peel off one by one with flimsy excuses or not even a word. Once they're all gone, the hostesses pull out knives and slit the old Yakuza's throats or hold them down and stab them repeatedly, with the men too drunk to really fight back. Kyoko comes out and finds "Kenji" still alive, being held down. He rants about how they had a deal and she tells him that he shouldn't trust a yakuza. They'll always abandon you in the end.

Ichiban survived, of course. In the house–Kyoko's house–he found evidence that proved Kyoko was born as Kenji. She's a trans woman and his missing sibling. This should feel very different from the typical trans reveal because of how much it's been reinforced that society is unfair to women, and being a woman has only made Kyoko's life difficult. She should have absolutely no chemistry with Ichiban because she knew they were siblings from the start. This is an opportunity for the series to confront its less than stellar gender politics, especially the earlier handling of trans issues.

When she transitioned, Arakawa accepted her gender identity, for good and ill. But first he gave her a cruel choice: Woman or Yakuza. Either way, she would lose some vital aspect of herself. She chose woman, so he embraced her, called her his daughter, and then cut her out of his life. When Ichiban showed up, it brought back all of that old pain, and she decided she couldn't live without that part of herself anymore. She would reclaim what was rightfully hers.

When she has her shirtless fight (with a tasteful sports bra on), her tattoo is of Amanozako. A female demon born of Susanoo's repressed desires, whose name means "she who opposes everything in heaven."

There would be more to this story. Some stuff about Bleach Japan, probably. But it would once again be about the sins of the past and how the Yakuza need to change in the modern world.

I know nothing about anarky. What makes him so trans?

Thank you so much for asking, anon! I'm gonna go ahead and jump right in! (And I will do my best to keep this focused on gender, with very light context, so if you want to know more about this character in general, please feel free to ask follow-up questions!)

Word count: A little over 2100

Trigger Warnings for: mentions of gender dysphoria, discussions of gender presentation and bodies, assumptions of a character's gender identity, comic-standard violence, transphobia, and death. (Note: If I've missed something that you'd like a heads-up for both in this list, and before it happens in the text, let me know! <3)

So, in 1989, Alan Grant/DC debuted one Lonnie Machin a.k.a. Anarky!

Lonnie was posed as a challenger to Batman, someone who makes him think about his methods and choices. Alfred comments in Lonnie's debut, even, that Lonnie is a "kindred spirit" to Batman. Bruce disagrees, but he does admit that there's some similarities there, which calls into question vigilantism as a form of justice, and what methods vigilantes should and shouldn't be using, in Bruce's mind. (Sidenote: there's this great moment in Tec 609 where Lonnie analyzes how Batman works, and it makes Lonnie and Bruce's similarities and differences extremely stark. It's one of my favorite parts of Lonnie's two-part comic debut).

At any rate, I bring all this up to establish that, as a baseline, Lonnie's character tends to call into question understood norms. Lonnie himself is a subversion of many thought-to-be-truths. Anarchism itself does the same thing. By that idea alone, there is already a baseline for defying things like the gender binary, assigned gender at birth, and expected gender roles and presentation.

With that in mind, I'm going to get into some specific moments that really solidify the many possibilities for a trans headcanon for this character! (I myself headcanon Lonnie as nonbinary, but there's arguments that can made for any identity under the trans umbrella, which is what this essay will argue for!).

The first point I want to make is about Lonnie's first Anarky costume. This one:

I chose this specific drawing of the costume because it's on the cover of Lonnie's debut comic, which means that this is the very first instance of Lonnie that many people ever saw. It also shows very well the aspects of this costume that I want to talk about.

We've got the hat with the circle-A, which draws attention to it by how much it stands out. We have the massive, flowing cloak. And we have the absence of a visible face. I'm gonna talk about each of those in turn.

The Hat - the hat's main purpose is to show you exactly who and what Lonnie aligns with as Anarky. The name isn't just for show; the circled-A, according to its real-world meaning, summarizes how order can found through anarchy, a theory that Lonnie is an adamant believer in, and defender of. Anarky is announcing for you who Anarky is. Think about gender presentation now, and what quick, shorthand ways we use to try and present as our desired gender (not just male, female, nonbinary, but also a flower, the color blue, a certain aesthetic that cultivates gender euphoria-- there's as many genders as we have the imagination to create!) Right away, we are already being shown a person that Lonnie wants you to think of him as.

The Cloak (warning for a mention of dysphoria and body image here) - This cloak is huge and billowing and closed, so there is nothing that you can see beneath it; it's all draped red fabric with no form or shape. It honestly makes me think of dysphoria hoodies, and how they can be protective and comfortable because they hide one's body. And in fact, this is exactly why Lonnie chose this cloak: it hides his frame. In the comic, it's implied to be because Lonnie is a young teenager, and he wants others to think that he's an adult, so that they'll listen to him, but the way I see it: it also serves to hide Lonnie's gender. Anarky is a reflection of the common people, and is determined to be their amplifier. Anarky being of an indeterminate gender is one further way that Anarky could relate to the people that Lonnie is trying to uplift.

The Mask (warning for a mention of deadnames in this section)- In this cover, it's drawn in shadow, but in the comic itself, we see that Anarky wears a gold, full-face mask. It completely obscures any identifying features on Lonnie's face. (As a nonbinary person, myself... what a mood). This is because Lonnie does not want Lonnie to be recognized as a voice of the people, but Anarky. In Anarky (1997), Lonnie explains that he does not care who Batman is under the mask, because Batman is the figure he's concerned with. I argue that this can be applied to Anarky, too. The point of Anarky is that the people can find strength and power through this figure, as I've said probably too many times now. Repetition for emphasis! Gotta love that English Lit degree. Anyway, this is very important because it's the same as the Spider-Man effect: anyone could be Spider-Man. Anyone could be Anarky. Now, what I mean by "Anyone could be Anarky," is that anyone could be wearing that mask. Something that I find extremely fascinating is that Lonnie reportedly does not care about how others think of him-- yet, he does protect Anarky's reputation. I think that this is because, the moment that the common people no longer feel safe around Anarky, is the moment that Anarky can no longer exist the way that Anarky is supposed to. When that presentation, when that self, is damaged by the others around it, what can we do but feel as if we have to defend it, even if we don't really care how others think of us? There's a lack of attention of Lonnie Machin, but there is an overabundance of attention on Anarky (see: Shadow of the Bat #41, where Lonnie signs a letter as Anarky, claiming that "Lonnie Machin" is the alias). This calls to attention the idea of deadnames. If Anarky is the desired presentation and identity, then it could be said that Lonnie acts as the deadname.

Now, if you're not totally regretting asking yet, let's move on to point #2! The second costume!

This one will be quicker: The main idea I want to get across here is that once again, we're seeing rapid declarations of identity with the large circle-A on the chest, and that we've still retained the lack of identifying features.

(Second warning for assumptions of someone's gender. Another warning as well that if you read the comic mentioned below, the comment that the reporter makes is presented to be a joke, which I do believe was made in poor taste. Please proceed with caution, and take care of yourself if you choose to read it <3).

What's significant to me about this costume is what happens in Young Justice: Sins of Youth #1. Anarky attends a rally for young heroes, and the reporter commenting on the event doesn't recognize all of the heroes present, and so has to rely on extremely vague assumptions about the characters. It's the specific assumption that this reporter makes that intrigues me: The reporter assumes that Anarky is a woman. Based on what we've been discussing so far, this tells me, personally, that what I think Lonnie is trying to do with Anarky's costume is working. It's difficult to figure out anything about Anarky as a person, and so the people looking at Anarky try to guess. It's even more significant to me that this happens after we lose the shapeless cloak. Even without the cover that that cloak gave, Anarky still has no identifying features beyond what Lonnie wants you to see.

(Warning for violence, bodily harm, torture, and transphobic comments in this next section. No pictures will be shown. We are still discussing expectation and perception of one's gender that may cause dysphoria as well. Please proceed with caution, and take care of yourself <3).

Another significant piece of this costume for me is that in an encounter with Ra's al Ghul, the circle-A on the costume serves as the inspiration for a form of torture, wherein the circle-A is cut into Lonnie's chest. It's taking a piece of Lonnie's identity presentation and forcibly making it a part of his body. I bring this up because I think that it's important to discuss the idea of presentation being forced upon us. Even after someone comes out, we are still held to certain expectations of how we present our chosen identities.

Another example of expectation in Lonnie's own experiences is how Shadow of the Bat #40-41 raises the notion that Lonnie was expected to become the All-American Boy by his parents. He's told that he's outside of what he was "supposed" to be: he doesn't play baseball, he should have been a doctor or a lawyer, and he reads things that are seen as abnormal (leftist political theory).

Lonnie expresses in a letter that he writes in #41 that he hopes that one day, his parents will be proud of him, and he calls himself their son. This is note-worthy because he is fulfilling part of the role that his parents placed on him ("boy"), but he also admits in this letter that he knows that he cannot be what they want him to be. He asks that they are the ones who transform their thinking, to accept him as he is, not as they want him to be. This is also the letter which he uses to fake the death of Lonnie Machin, so that he can work full-time as Anarky. This letter reads as a parallel to a coming out letter, in my opinion. (Transphobia warning) It also lines up with this specific notion that certain parents of trans children have expressed before, which is that it feels as though the kid they knew from birth is dying or dead. As someone whose parents expressed that idea to me, I do not support telling your child this, as it's rooted in transphobia, but it is significant to me that this is something we see in a situation that strongly mirrors what Lonnie is doing in the comics.

My third point that I'd like to bring up is extremely short, but it has to do with that A scar, so warnings for blood and bodily harm in the images that you will see if you click on the links provided. I'm providing links, so that anyone who wants to read this still can, but can opt in to seeing images of a bloody injury.

Lonnie, particularly in Anarky (1999), is drawn in parallel to two women in classic art.

These parallels do not feel accidental to me-- especially the one with Truth.

It's noteworthy to me that Lonnie Machin is almost always drawn with long hair. Now, anyone can have long hair, of course, but when you look at the All-American Boy expectation, and then you look back to how Lonnie looks even out of the Anarky costume, I think there's something to be said there about how even Lonnie Machin subverts gender expectation.

Now, since this has already gotten longer than I ever meant for it to be, I'm going to stop here for now, since these are the main points that I wanted to cover in discussing the trans umbrella headcanon for Lonnie!

I want to close just by saying that all headcanons are valid for this character, and so I don't intend to imply that anyone who reads this HAS to feel the way that I do. This is just how I see and read Lonnie's character/comics, and it brings me a lot of joy, particularly as someone who relates heavily to a lot of Lonnie's experiences in the trans parallel experience kind of way. I love this character to pieces, and it brings me nothing but happiness to share him with you and anyone else who read this far.
