Ex-fucking-cuse you
Thank you to @carlyv for the title idea! I don’t know if I really like whatever this is but other people seem to so I’ll leave it be. Let me know what you guys are thinking in the comments!

Whenever he had shared his feelings in the past, he’d had them stomped on. From crushes to life goals, anyone he’d ever confided in had laughed in his face. The first memorable time had been when he told Tommy about his crush on Heath Sellers at recess in fourth grade. Tommy H. told him that he wouldn’t be friends with a fag and if he ever mentioned liking a dude again, he’d kick his ass. That circumstance really showed Steve that he couldn’t trust anyone. If he couldn’t share what he was thinking with his best friend, who else could he tell?
The second time was with Nancy Wheeler. Steve told her he loved her even though he knew it was too early into their relationship and he knew she was still grieving Barb. But he still told her and all she did for the first few times was call him an idiot afterwards. Steve loved too much and too hard. Sure, after a few weeks she said it back but Steve could tell it wasn’t genuine and was most likely said out of pity.
The fact that she called him bullshit just two weeks later kind of cemented that fact in his mind.
It made him feel sort of hypocritical. He told the kids to be open and honest, prided them on their communication. And then he neglected to do the same. He hid his nightmares and semi-suicidal thoughts behind an impenetrable wall that no one in the Party could breach.
Until Eddie.
For months, Steve hated Eddie because it felt like he was stealing the kids away from him. He was jealous that they shared a common interest that he couldn’t understand and was gearing up for the kids to leave him behind. But then, Eddie told him that the kids worshiped him and he’d been jealous too. Jealous of the cool babysitter that influenced their actions in DnD and could do no wrong.
Steve felt like Eddie could truly see him, could understand Steve, and liked what he saw. He could tell that Eddie was going to be a great friend of his, or more. He liked more.
But when he ran back to the trailer park after flambéing Vecna, he saw a blood soaked Eddie being cradled by Dustin. His slow paced jog turned into a full blown sprint. Steve yanked Eddie out of Dustin’s arms and made a mad dash towards the portal in his trailer. He wasn’t going to lose the one guy that made him feel more understood than anyone else had ever made him feel.
The girls and Dustin tearfully followed them but Steve couldn’t spare them any attention. He was solely focused on the sluggish bleeding of Eddie’s wounds.
“Ow, Harrington. Calm the fuck down.”
“Eddie?!” The metalhead’s eyes were blurry but somewhat focused on Steve’s face. “Hey man, you have to stay awake. When we get out of here, you can teach me all about your shitty yelling music and nerd game, okay?”
The blurriness lifted slightly as pure offense filled his face, “ex-fucking-cuse you. That “shitty yelling” is true music unlike your Tears for Fears garbage or whatever the hell else you listen to. I have taste. And yeah, Harrington. I will be teaching you Dungeons & Dragons when we get out of here. Lugging my body out of here when I was trying to make a noble sacrifice is disgraceful.”
“You’re not allowed to die, Eddie.” Steve said, panting with exertion and stress.
“That’s not up to you,” and then he passed out.
“Fuck!” Steve screamed. That fucking dramatic shit, if those were his last words, Steve would bring him back just to kill him again.
Steve’s feelings were threatening to overcome him as his hands shook while he put Eddie into the car. Nancy held one of them and gave him a look of meaning. “I’ll drive.”
“Um, yeah, yeah. Okay, thanks. Henderson! Keep pressure on his wounds. We need to stop the bleeding.” He desperately put pressure on the worst of the wounds on his torso and prayed to a god he no longer believed in.
And then they sped towards the hospital.
Steve was there when Eddie woke up, just as he had been in the four days he’d been unconscious while recovering from shock. He was trying to read the dancing letters in The Hobbit but when he looked up and met Eddie’s eyes, the book dropped from his hands.
“Didn’t take you for a fantasy nerd, Harrington.” Eddie mumbled, his voice hoarse but unwavering.
“We need to talk about your theatrics, man. You almost gave me a heart attack, Eddie.”
“Oh, we’re on a first-name basis now? If I’d known all I had to do was risk my life to be in King Steve’s court, I would’ve done it a long time ago.” Eddie smirked at him.
“I’m not a king anymore.” Steve said and shook his head. It’d been a long time since anyone had called him that and he didn’t like the way it sounded on Eddie’s lips either.
“My apologies, Steve. You’re not a king, you’re a paladin. And that’s better than any noble.” Eddie said wisely.
Steve had no idea what the fuck any of that meant or what a pal-man was but he could listen to Eddie rant at him for hours as long as he kept looking at him like that. His face was fond and his lips, though scarred with a vicious bite marring their softness, smiled softly at Steve.
He coughed a bit to clear his throat and tore his eyes from Eddie’s lips to his amused eyes. “Um, do you said you were going to explain your screamy metal shit?”
That got Steve his desired reaction and Eddie squawked. “You motherfucker-”
As Steve listened to his enraged ranting, he made himself a promise. He was going to be more like Eddie. He was going to be more free with his feelings and he would find a way to talk to his friends about them. But for now, he’d listen to Eddie’s virtriolic soliloquy about the merits of metal artists and the importance on nonconformist music in “this sweaty armpit of a state”. And Steve couldn’t be happier.

A classic of classics in rom com history. Meg Ryan at her best, Tom Hanks at his. She's a small, independent bookstore owner. He's essentially Barnes & Noble, coming in to disrupt New York with corporate America.

A forgotten '90s Brendan Fraser must-see movie. He's the "rich playboy" type, she's scrappy and resourceful, pregnant by her deadbeat ex-boyfriend, and pretending to be the widow of Fraser's twin brother, who recently died in a train accident.

Based on a book, top-tier casting, bad ass mother-in-law, bad ass heroine, a classy, handsome, Good Man™️ hero? Sign me TF up.

9. 13 Going on 30
Easily Jennifer Garner's best movie, but also Mark freakin' Ruffalo. They're adorable together, and this one's a classic in its own right, full of heart, back-stabbing bitches, and 80s music references.

10. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
It's one of the best, folks. Also one of the most quotable movies in movie history lol. As a kid, I remember really identifying with Toula, who feels too plain, too big, too "frump girl."
But Ian never saw her that way. He genuinely laughs at her jokes. He's patient with her and sees her beauty, inside and out. He also deals with a lot of crap from her family in order to be with her, with all the grace and gentlemanly poise a guy could have.
And Toula learns to love herself, fall in love for the first time, and challenges every expectation of her family to do so.

And she served someone???? "Don is Sancho" theory never was as promising as now. Also, the fact that she lacks manners(while Outis is perfect King of Ithaca) also kinda makes it less believable that she was sime kind of noble.
Also in previous post I mentioned that I find ironic difference of Don's attitude to Shi corruption and to other shaddy organization. I wanted to speak more, but did not have time unfortunately.
I find it ironic and interesting because it makes me wonder what's Don's real goal? Like our Don feels like harbinger of justice and fan of Fixers, but technically there are only two ID which have something with Fixers and only half of her IDs have something to do with justice(some in a very gruesome manner)
I mean we can kinda see patterns in motivations of a lot of sinners? Faust seeks knowledge, Heath tries to find a way to return to Cathy, Ryoshu, and her Art.
But Don is kinda chaotic in this matter? From justice to trains to abnos to way of blade and than back to justice and her passion to all of these seems sincere.
But with our Don, it feels like there is some more motivation behind her hunger for justice.

Most older Danish folk art is preserved in the form of drawers, cupboards, and chests that were passed down as heirlooms. Imagine how much folk art must've been lost because it was just allowed to degrade, or was painted over.
There are a few rare examples of surviving wall paintings by regular people, but they're really hard to find photos of online

Of course, these are examples from large farms - but still, they're a lot more interesting than the noble/royal art that tends to be preserved and displayed.
I don't know what, if any, art has been preserved from the lowest classes (the rakkere, the nightfolk, the heath farmers, the factory workers, etc.), but if you want to see more examples of the above art, google 'almuemaling' and 'brudekiste'.

Shino: Heath. Has Vespa told you anything?
Heath: Yeah. I think I…sort of have an idea of what happened at the bottom of the sea now. Vespa, this is the dragon, right?
Vespa: …! …!
Heath: And these are the mermaids… And this is Balthazar, the tyrant that trapped the mermaids?
Vespa: …! …!
Shino: I get it. So this Balthazar guy locked up half of the mermaids. The sea dragon was originally your friend, but when Balthazar showed up, he allied himself with that guy instead.
Vespa: …! …!
Shino: (So we gotta exterminate a Northern wizard and a dragon. Time for me to make a name for myself. I can't wait to get out there.) (…is what I'd like to say, but our teacher isn't acting like himself, and none of the Northern wizards are around.) (Which means our firepower amounts to me, Arthur, and Nero…and Cain, I guess?) (If things don't go well, I've got a feeling the battle is going to end up hinging on me…) (I'll go to the wizards' market in a bit to make sure I've got everything in order first… What will we need to take on the ocean?) (Lennox… His magic is weak, but he's still strong. He's probably fine, but…) (There's also Shylock and the twins to think about…)
Heathcliff: Is there a particular reason you only drew Balthazar's face and nothing else about him?
Shino: Isn't she just slacking off? I'll draw the body.
Vespa: …! …!
Shino: Ow, hey! What are you getting mad about? I'm not just gonna scribble something.
Faust: Has Vespa told you what happened?
Heathcliff: Mr. Faust! Yes, I've got all the important parts.
Faust: Good. Summarize the highlights for me. We're going to go consult with Figaro.
Heathcliff: Alright. Shino, Vespa, I'm going to be leaving for a bit.
Shino: Gotcha.
Vespa: …
Shino: …Hey. You've been staring at Heath this whole time.
Vespa: …
Shino: You can't do that.
Vespa: …?
Shino: Heath's nice, and he's beautiful. I completely understand falling for him… But he's the son of a big-name noble. One day, he's gonna be the lord of a castle even bigger than this one. Weirdos like us can't be traipsing along after him.

Borda Castle Servant: As you say, sir… Perhaps the role of lord is too much for the princess who used to be called cry-baby Dianne…

Borda Castle Servant: My apologies. There's no need for me to be regaling our guests with stories like this. Sigh…
Claudia: I'm sorry she's causing you so much trouble. I'll speak with Dianne.
Nero: Good plan. Ask her about these mysterious disappearances, too.

Faust: We know the person controlling Lennox's body. The Northern wizard, Balthazar. It's probable that he appeared in the waters here around the same time as <the Great Calamity> started drawing closer. He's taken over the mermaid society here and kidnapped residents of the island. He's using a sea dragon for his purposes, too. It seems like he's also got an unhappy past with Shylock, and… Figaro?
Figaro: …Yeah, I'm listening.
Faust: You are aware that he's taken over Lennox, right? Your friend. I plan on heading to the bottom of the ocean. I have no illusions about being able to defeat a dragon, but I'm not just going to let Leno's head get taken.
Figaro: Yeah, true…
Faust: …"Yeah, true"?
Figaro: Ah, no! I'm really listening to what you're saying. I'm just thinking about things…
Faust: … …No, I'm sorry. I know that what's happened to Snow is weighing on you, too.
Figaro: Faust… I'm sure you're just as upset about your dear servant being taken.
Faust: Of course I am. I plan on tearing the culprit limb from limb. Not that Lennox is my servant anymore… But there's still no one with as pure a soul as his. Aren't you angry about what's being done to him?

Faust: Figaro?

Faust: Lord Figaro.
Figaro: Yes.
Faust: Look me in the eyes.

Faust: (…He always possessed such a sense of dignity in the past, but now, it's possible for him to look this weak…) (I wonder if I just never noticed before.)

Figaro: Well, it's my and Oz's fault. We stole Balthazar's territory and drove him West. That was when he turned into a thorn in Shylock's side. And now, he's causing problems for Lennox…

Faust: Then you do know Balthazar. Like what kinds of magic he can use?
Figaro: Only what he used centuries ago.
Faust: Then tell me. You can't leave Snow's side until morning, right?
Figaro: Hold on… This is a Northern wizard we're talking about. One that's got a dragon in tow. Are you planning on fighting a dragon?
Faust: Lennox and Shylock are in danger. I'd be happier if we had the Northern wizards backing us up on this, but…
Figaro: …What to do… This is because I crossed the line with Mithra…
Faust: Crossed the line? About what?
Figaro: …
Faust: …Why aren't you saying anything? Why didn't you immediately tell us everything you know about Balthazar? Do you not want to save Leno? Is there more you're keeping quiet about?
Figaro: I do want to help him! It's just… I've been…running away from something I should've been facing. From who I used to be.
Faust: … I'm still running. Thank you for speaking with me.
Figaro: …You're not going to keep yelling at me?
Faust: The Northern way of living is different from my own. As someone who's never lived that prideful way of life, I have no place to blame you for how you lived. But…
Figaro: But?
Faust: I also spoke with Rutile and Mitile. They're beside themselves over Lennox. If you're going to apologize to anyone, apologize to them.
Figaro: You're right…
Faust: I will bring back Lennox… I'll bring back your friend. No matter what methods I have to use to do so.
Figaro: Faust, wait. If you're planning on going alone, I'm going to stop you. You need to cool down and go with the others.
Faust: …I'm perfectly calm.
Figaro: You absolutely are not. Ever since we reunited you've been willing to mouth off and tell me you'll kill me or curse me…
Faust: I… I'm deeply sorry about that.
Figaro: But you really meant it when you said you want to rip him apart. The blood's rushed to your head.
Faust: …
Figaro: Lennox isn't only yours anymore. He's everyone's comrade. Everyone wants to save him, no matter how dangerous it is. Rely on your comrades and students. I'll talk to Mitile and Rutile, too. I'll tell them I'm sorry for being why all of this is happening. And I'll ask them to help me, too.

Figaro: I'm the one who should be thanking you. Faust… I don't have a very good impression of the ocean. Be sure to keep your guard up.
Faust: I will. But, Lord Figaro. Have you ever looked at the ocean after a storm has passed? The moonlight makes a path on the water. I'm sure that path will guide us to victory.

Riquet: What's wrong, Oz? Why are you gathering the Central wizards? Do you have a plan for rescuing Shylock and Lennox?
Oz: … I have something I wish to tell you all.
Arthur: …
Oz: There was once a Northern wizard who held quarrel with me, named Balthazar. I had thought I had turned him to stone, but I failed to finish the job. Balthazar has used Lennox's body to spirit Shylock away, to the ocean floor. I have heard there are a dragon and many mermaids also under Balthazar's command. I should have been able to bring this to an end by my own hand. But as it stands, I presently cannot use magic.
Cain: Even with the Sage around?
Oz: …The Sage called the dragon their friend.
Riquet: The one that was flying in the sky? So it really wasn't a bad dragon after all.
Arthur: A bad dragon?
Riquet: The townspeople were afraid that the dragon was going to attack the island. But if it's a friend of Master Sage, then it's a good dragon, yes?
Oz: This is not a matter of good or evil. The dragon very nearly killed Snow. Snow and White killed the dragon's brother.
Riquet: …Oh, no…
Oz: But the Sage called the dragon their friend. I will not force them to harm their friend.
Arthur: Lord Oz…
Oz: You also called the rabbits I caught for your dinner your friends, and wept for them…
Arthur: I didn't think you'd want to talk about…the past, Lord Oz…
Oz: …I never said I wanted to. There are many things that I wish I could forget, or that I had never known in the first place. However… I cannot feign ignorance if all of you are to be caught up in it. Arthur, Cain, Riquet. I am sorry for involving you.
Arthur: Lord Oz…
Oz: Arthur, Cain. I intend to free Lennox and Shylock from Balthazar's control. Will you aid me in this?
Arthur: Yes!
Cain: Of course. Let's all work hard together! Oz… I never imagined that you of all people would ask us to help you. It's an honor. Thank you.
Oz: You are a person I can rely on. Riquet. You will stay here, in the castle.
Riquet: But…
Oz: Figaro and Snow will be remaining here. I believe Mitile will do the same. Are you aware of the events that have been occurring on Borda Island?
Riquet: Yes… A pillar of fire rose up from the edge of a mountain at the southernmost part of the island. Mitile, Rutile, and I all saw it. The townspeople were trembling with fear.
Oz: It is possible that Borda Island will become a target while we are at the bottom of the sea. As Figaro needs to continue Snow's treatment, he alone remaining behind will not be enough.
Riquet: …I understand. So we need to protect the townspeople if anything happens, right?
Oz: Will you?
Riquet: Yes.
Oz: Ordinarily, I would not be asking such a thing of a wizard as young as you. But I have faith in you. Are you nervous, Riquet?
Riquet: A bit… But it's fine. I will help you. Thank you for talking properly with us. If you are willing to speak so openly and need my strength… Then I will always, always give it to you. If you can say "I'm sorry" and "thank you" properly… Then I will accomplish any task you place before me, no matter how difficult.
Oz: Riquet…
Riquet: After all, that's what I'm here for.
Oz: …I'm sorry.
Riquet: You're supposed to say "thank you" here. Come on, say it.
Oz: Thank you.
Riquet: Ehehe. Prince Arthur, Cain, please do your very best and save Lennox and Shylock. I'll be cheering you on from here!
Arthur: Yeah!
Cain: Just leave it to us!

Mitile: …Leno was captured by an evil wizard…?
Figaro: Yes… His body has been taken over. Shylock was spirited away by the same person, and we don't know where he is right now.
Rutile: Oh no… How could this happen to him…
Figaro: I kind of…well, some stuff went on between me and the wizard in question back in the day. He hates me for it. And Leno and Shylock got caught up in all of this because of it, too.
Mitile: How could anyone hate you, Dr. Figaro… He must be a really terrible wizard. You only do good things, Dr. Figaro, unlike those Northern wizards. Even if your jokes go a little too far sometimes…
Figaro: Yeah… …No… I was in the wrong this time. I'm pretty sure I was. It's no wonder he hates me, really.
Mitile: Really…?
Figaro: Yeah…
Mitile: …
Rutile: …Is it not possible to apologize and try to make up with him? A relationship crumbling because of arguments is always a tragedy, so if it's possible…
Figaro: Yeah… I feel like it might just piss him off even more, but the next time I see him, I'll try to apologize…
Rutile: …I'm sorry. I don't even know the details of what happened between the two of you, and yet I still tried to butt in…
Figaro: It's fine. Thank you for trying to come up with a solution instead of getting mad at me. Mitile, I want you to stay here. Rutile, do you think you could go with the Eastern wizards? I think Faust is going to be looking for Leno. I'd like for you to help him out.
Rutile: Of course. I'll do my best to make sure we get Leno back safe and sound.
Figaro: Thanks. …I'm sorry. I'm causing problems not only for Lennox, but for you two, too.
Mitile: No… It's fine.
Figaro: Mitile…
Mitile: It's like, how can I put it… You've never really let us do much for you…
Rutile: Now that you mention it…
Mitile: So getting to actually do something for you is making me a little happy.
Figaro: …
Mitile: If I meet this wizard, I'll be sure to tell him all about all your good parts, Dr. Figaro. Maybe he'll get angry about it, but… I want to tell him about how kind you are, about how many patients you've saved… That's how I feel, at least.
Figaro: …Mitile… …Goodness, really… Really, why did I do those things before we ever met…

Chloe: Are you still mad?
Murr: Huh? Me, mad? Was I angry?
Rustica: Yes, you were. In fact, I was quite startled to see you angry, Murr. And so I fell for you even more.

Chloe: I love all of you, too! I don't know if we can beat that Northern wizard and a dragon, but we're still always going to be Western wizards. That's what Shylock taught me. Passion is what's most important for Western wizards. And my heart has been repeating something to me, over and over, as passionately as it can. There are hundreds of species of butterflies found throughout the region of Doriath. Though Tolkien abandoned the idea that butterflies, all originated in the Nan Tathren, which was written in the book of lost tales, I do like to headcanon that this remained a legend or folktale in universe
Note: there are so many species of insects, this unfortunately cannot be a complete list
Primarily Neldoreth: orange tip (outskirts), elm autumn moth, Aglia tau, silver washed fritillary, dotted border moth, brown tail moth, comma butterfly
Primarily Nivrim: Checkered skipper, purple hairstreak (found in Region too), green hair streak, large copper, white prominent moth, purple emperor, large tortoiseshell
Primarily Region: Holly blue, northern blue, oak lantern moth, bird cherry ermine moth, blotched emerald moth
Throughout Doriath: ghost moth, wood white, cranberry blue, green longhorn moth, Luna moth, peacock butterfly, ghost moth, lilac leafminer moth, paper moth, white Pearl moth, red admiral, Heath fritillary, light emerald moth

World building notes
-Butterflies and moths, as a whole are associated among the Sindar with transformation and cycles of life as they are in many cultures. They are also symbols of abundance, color and precision/agility. Different species and varieties will have more specific connotations, however
-Arthórien has rare, even rainforest butterflies due to the difference in temperature and rainfall. I will make a separate post for its butterflies!
-The gardens of Menengroth also have several species of rare butterflies not found elsewhere in Doriath. These are nurtured by Melian’s power.
-ghost moths are associated with spring and summer for their bright colors and emergence in warmer weather. Insects and flora have had a large influence on color and pigmentation in Sindarin practices, both as inspiration and material.
There are even practices of safely collecting the dust and pollen that collect on the wings and legs of insects; it is immensely time consuming and precise.
-Orange tips can be found on the sigils of certain Doriath nobles. Their image is sometimes used in Doriathrim fashion, especially in jewel and hair pieces made from wood or metal. Alder bark is typically used to create the orange color
It was from these species among others that pollination was originally studied by the Sindar of Doriath.
-The purple hairstreak is associated with twilight and the darker reaches of the forest. This is primarily for its color as like most species of its family, they tend to emerge mainly on sunny days. They feed mostly on oak trees. The name for this species in Ilkorin translates to butterfly of twilight.
Their almost shadow like appearance in flight makes them a favorite for artists who make prints and illustrate naturalist work!
-Wood whites are often associated with niphredil both for their color and their habitat.
Note: I always imagine Niënor wearing a hair piece or embroidery with this species during her time in Doriath
-Luna moths are highly associated with Melian and with Lórien. They symbolize night, dream, and desire and appear as motifs in a lot of later Sindar poetry and art

To set up the scenario, (and sorry in advance for the long post) the Queen of kingdom A got married to the king of the kingdom B. They have one son together. King B dies, leaving his son to inherit the kingdom fairly young. Queen A sets up a regency council with nobles from kingdom B that she trusts, then she goes back to her kingdom. A few years later, she remarries to a prince from kingdom C to strengthen that alliance and to ensure she has spares in case anything happens to her son from her first marriage. Sometime later, she gets her spare. The queen’s eldest son primarily spends his time in kingdom B trying to consolidate and expand his power there, while squashing conflicts that come up as he grows older. As a consequence of that, he doesn’t spend as much time in his mother’s kingdom. (Kingdom A & B aren’t super far away from each other, but it does take a couple of months by boat to get to one to the other. Kingdom C is right above kingdom A, but a lot further from kingdom B and doesn’t have a direct connection with them.) However, his younger brother has spent his entire life in his mother’s kingdom, so he’s a lot more familiar with the nobility and general public. As both grow older, factions are starting to form. One faction wants to encourage the union of crowns between kingdoms A&B by allowing the eldest son to rule due the access of trade that Kingdom b could bring to them. Another faction wants to put the younger brother on the throne to avoid a mostly unknown “foreigner” taking over and out of fear that the eldest son will bleed their kingdom dry to fund campaigns for kingdom b. (They’re not worried about kingdom C forming a union with A since the father wasn’t as close to the throne anyway.) Eventually, the queen’s heath will begin to wane and she’s worried about a possible succession crisis. So my questions are:
1. Would the faction supporting the younger son actually be a credible threat to the elder brother’s rule and if so, what could be done to neutralize them?
2. Is the brother himself a threat just by his presence, even if he doesn’t personally want the throne?
(just a quick note to start off, The Queen wouldn't pick the Regency council, she has absolutely no say in who runs B)
Yes but all of this would be eased if A and B had a discussion hegore the wedding, as in discussing how heirs would work. Usually the firstborn gets everything unless they are unfit in some way, therein the next heir comes to power (look at the Hanoverian succession after Victoria's ascension). They would have had this talk. But let's say, in spite of agreeing the eldest would inherit it all, the little brother's faction is a threat - especially to the little brother. The best thing that can be done, is the removal of the lil brother from A, the mother taking action against the nobles or the return of B to remove the nobles. Either the threat dies or the little brother will suffer the consequences, even if this isn't his choice.
Yes. He's a focal point for tension. Have a look at young Elizabeth I, Lady Jane Grey, King John, Richard the Lionheart. Even the mere threat to the succession therefore the peace, must be answered.

Hi! Sorry to bother, but I was wondering if you could translate Guy's and Priscilla's japanese support from FE7? ;v; in case you haven't translated them yet. I read that their support has a different ending than in the localization, so I got curious to see how it was in japanese. Thank you so much for your translations! Have a good day/night :>

For the C-B-A supports themselves - I read them side-by-side, and confirmed that the localization is very directly translated from the Japanese - so no reason for me to do my own translation. It would basically be repeat work.
Now, as for Guy / Priscilla's ending, on the other hand...
I actually didn't know this ending was so different in localization until I translated the novel, and nearly doubted my translation abilities! After a double, triple, and quadruple check, I knew I had it right... The JP version and localization do lead to 100% different final conclusions!
Original Japanese:
戦いの中で出会い、恋に落ちた2人。しかし、プリシラ はエトルリア貴族の令嬢、ギィはサカ出身の傭兵・・・ 2人の境遇は違いすぎた。一度は、プリシラを諦めよう とするギィだが、彼女の涙を前に駆け落ちを決意。彼の 手を取るプリシラの笑顔は、その生涯で一番輝いていた。 The two met in the midst of war, and fell in love. However, Priscilla was the daughter of Etrurian nobility, and Guy was a mercenary born in Sacae... Their circumstances were too different. Guy once tried to let her go, but in front of her tears, he decided to elope. Her smile when she took his hand was the brightest he ever saw.
Localization:
They fell in love amidst conflict, but Priscilla was a noble, and Guy was but a mercenary nomad. Guy rode away before her tears could stain the earth, though her smile was the brightest thing he ever saw.
Considering that Guy and Priscilla's entire support chain was otherwise directly translated, and Priscilla's other endings were also translated directly (Erk has high enough social status to marry her, she and Heath do not end up together because of his deserter status), I assume this ending was translated in error and not changed on purpose.
Perhaps 駆け落ち (kakeochi) tripped the translator(s) up - it is a word in Japanese for eloping, but kake means 'to run' - maybe the translator read too fast and took it to mean Guy ran away from Priscilla before their feelings could overpower them. ...It's a theory, anyway.

Yes, def! I love non-noble heroes.
Lisa Kleypas writes a lot of self-made men, with some of the most prominent books I'd recommend (there are other ones, these are just my favorites) including:
Dreaming of You. Derek Craven runs a successful gambling club; he was born in a drainpipe!!! He named himself!!! He lived on the streets, he totally made a success of himself, and now he can't deal with his sense of inadequacy and his dirty, dirty hands sullying Sara (though he will for sure do stuff to her... I mean, if she was wearing a mask and they got started and he realized it was her during... he might as well finish it...)
Secrets of a Summer Night. Simon Hunt is self-made, and he comes off as a super successful industry tycoon. It's hOT. And of course, the conflict of his book is him asking the poor but blueblooded heroine to be his mistress, while she's like "omg he's so COARSE!!!"
Marrying Winterborne. Would recommend reading Cold-Hearted Rake, which does have a noble hero, beforehand for context. Rhys Winterborne is Welsh (!) and owns a department store and he's always like "spend my money babe".
Seduce Me at Sunrise--Kev Merripen is kind of like... a servant for the Hathaways? But he's also grown beyond that. He's most definitely not nobility, and nor is Cam in Meet Me at Midnight (which is also good, but I don't love it quite as much).
Again the Magic--McKenna was a servant for Aline's family, was sent away because of their romance, and made his money abroad
Lorraine Heath has some, which I love:
Between the Devil and Desire. Just re-listened! Jack Dodger was a child thief (the bEST child thief! He's Dodge!) and now owns a gambling club that's super successful.
Midnight Pleasures with a Scoundrel. James Swindler was also a child thief/con artist (a swindler perhaps) and is now an inspector. There's also a novella following this book about their friend, Dr. Graves, who's obviously a doctor and was a graverobber as a child--but I haven't read that one yet.
Her Sins for All Seasons series has 4/6 heroes who were born illegitimate and therefore aren't noble--Beyond Scandal and Desire has Mick, who runs a club, The Scoundrel in Her Bed as a hero who does similarly but is kind of halfhearted about it (and was a horse slaughterer when he was younger), and The Duchess in His Bed has a hero who runs a club for WOMEN!!! There is another self-made hero I've yet to read in Beauty Tames the Beast (I think?).
Elizabeth Hoyt has a lot of heroes who aren't noble:
Scandalous Desires--Mickey O'Connor is an extremely successful river pirate.
Thief of Shadows--Winter runs an orphanage for poor lil babies
Sweetest Scoundrel--Asa is trying to build up a pleasure garden (he's Winter's brother)
Most of Joanna Shupe's Gilded Age heroes are not noble, because American. Special shoutouts to:
The Rogue of Fifth Avenue--the hero is a former thief-turned-lawyer/fixer for a rich man, who falls for his boss's daughter
The Prince of Broadway--Clay Madden runs a casino and begins mentoring his hero (in a revenge plot)
The Devil of Downtown--Jack Devlin is a gangster lol
In the Fifth Avenue Rebels, the first three heroes (basically everyone but Lockwood) are not noble but they do come from money. Shoutout to The Lady Gets Lucky (Kit is rich but demands to be taken seriously by starting a supper club) and The Bride Goes Rogue (Preston is Vague Tycoon Man).
Grace Callaway has:
Pippa and the Prince of Secrets--Cull runs a band of CHILD THIEVES and lives on the criminal/vigilante edges of society
Glory and the Master of Shadows--Wei is a martial arts master who is recovering from some pretty severe trauma, while also handling some dirty dirty deeds on the low.
Sarah MacLean's first two Bareknuckle Bastards books (Brazen and the Beast and Wicked and the Wallflower) have criminal underworld heroes, and Knockout has an inspector hero!
Stacy Reid's A Scoundrel of Her Own has a hero who was born poor but has risen up in society (which is now why he wants to claim his upper class childhood sweetheart as his own muahahahaha--)
Beverly Jenkins's heroes generally are not noble, because she doesn't write about white Brits, but they do often come from money. Galen Vachon in Indigo comes from a wealthy, influential Creole family, and the hero of Forbidden is passing for white, but is actually the biracial son of a plantation owner.

The thing about Heathcliff = nature is, Heathcliff is named heath + cliff, he is linked to dogs and he is portrayed as animalistic and he is an outdoorsy person. I don’t reject these facts, these are textual facts. What I reject is that this means Heathcliff is a symbol, a stand-in for Nature. I would argue that it is the reverse, that the nature in the book is symbolizing aspects of Heathcliff, as is clear from lines like these:
“Pure, bracing ventilation they must have up there at all times, indeed; one may guess the power of the north wind blowing over the edge, by the excessive slant of a few-stunted firs at the end of the house; and by a range of gaunt thorns all stretching their limbs one way, as if craving alms of the sun.”
“Now, my bonny lad, you are mine! And we’ll see if one tree won’t grow as crooked as another, with the same wind to twist it!”
Wuthering Heights isn’t an allegory, for all of its Gothic nature and exaggerations it is a human story.
Also Heathcliff’s revenge isn’t the noble revenge of Romantic Nature against Civilization, Heathcliff does not reject Civilization (Civilization rejects him) and he later exploits the elements of Civilization in his revenge.
Anyway this is all confusing. Heathcliff is too complex to be reduced a stand-in for anything other than himself is what I am saying.
