Out of context, one story the AI came up with is that Beth Harmon from “The Queen’s Gambit” has to work together with Charlie Kelly from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” to escape Jigsaw from “Saw”. But then it’s revealed that the whole movie was a delusional creation of Charlie’s mind and that Beth is actually a manifestation of his subconscious, there to help Charlie confront his fears and insecurities.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

My main right now is pro wrestling, currently NJPW with some AEW :) . I've got a lot of different ones on there, but The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is still top with 33 fics

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

burn this city, my first fic, lawlight for Death Note. Nothing special tbh.

ghost in the machine, my first longfic and third fic, also lawlight for Death Note and also nothing special.

acute gifts, which was a Beth Harmon / Benny Watts knifekink fic. I got in the Queen's Gambit tag very early and so it rose to the top. It's not too bad, not in my top 10 of my own fics but definitely quite charming.

Oesterle's Derealization Claim, a Disco Elysium Mathematicians AU. Cherished fic and I am so glad and proud it climbed the ranks to be top 5 :)

5. Do you respond to comments?

Always! I love responding to comments, it's not always right away but I do get there.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Intentionally? flowers grown in forgotten lungs, probably. Like in a lot of ways, that fic is about L giving up, knowing he's going to die, and saying "fuck that, I'll burn all my ideals and drag as many people as I can down with me". I think other fics that I've written have hit people harder, especially the ones that I intended to make a happier followup and lost energy for it. But that one was meant to be absolutely gutting.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I'm going to go with the most recent one I'm proud of and say blueprint drift, which I'm sure is more melancholy than some other ones but idk, I love the story that's there, I love to see Takeover lowkey husbanding.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not generally, I can't remember if there was anything too egregious? I've gotten a few passive-aggressive "why won't you finish this" pleas but I tend to shut that kind of behaviour right down.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Hell yeah, though less than I used to. I really like writing new and weird scenarios and I've done a LOT at this point. Some of my top 3 weird ones were "skeleton threesome" "the cask of amontillado but it's kink" "spider/bat porn"

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

A few! My craziest is probably Blair Witch Project x The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: The Grey Desert Mythos. Still very proud of that fic!

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not as far as I know!

No! I have had a fic chapter podficced though, which was a transcendent experience: Static Contact [podfic]

SO many. SO many. That's probably why my word count is so high hehe

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

HMMM. In practice my favourite is whatever I'm obsessed with at the moment, in which case Jaykada (Jay White / Kazuchika Okada, NJPW). By the numbers? Blondeyes (Angel Eyes / Blondie, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I'm pretty good about letting go of things I don't think I'll finish, so there's nothing I'm holding out desire for at this point. I have a longfic cooking but at present I do think I'll get it together for it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue, strong POV, thematic intensity. People say my settings are very evocative/atmospheric, which is flattering since I worked pretty hard on those.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Humor. I always feel so awkward with clown characters. I don't really do plotty works in the conventional sense, but I don't think that's a weakness, more of just an intention.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

So funny, I'm working on a fic with that right now! I would say the my practice is to write the dialogue however the POV character is able to understand it, and however they parse it. In my mind if you speak the language or know a solid translator, it's all right to actually "quote the dialogue" in its characters for the reader who can speak the language. If you don't, probably best not to use machine translation and only stick to vetted phrases if you can.

For the fic I'm writing right now, it's a lot of fun because the Okada/Jay series spans different stages of understanding they have of each other's language. In the young lion era fic, Jay barely speaks any Japanese, and Okada has patchy English but he's sort of limping along. In the current WIP, Jay's Japanese is better, but not perfect, and similarly with Okada's English. So they sort of speak to each other semi-fluidly and the gaps in understanding are written in the text. So it's fun to think about how in the later fic, Jay speaks fluent Japanese and exclusively talks to Okada in Japanese to keep his language skills sharp.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

In another life, Batman. Specifically I was inspired by The Dark Knight but I based a lot of my work on the comics.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

My favourite fic is always my most recent, which was Shadow Gimmick (a FinJay Fic!). Barring that, the Grey Desert Mythos :)

Ahh, thank you! 💖 I'm glad that you enjoy them that much. That's so flattering.

Anyway, I felt like this episode was a sweeter version of the season 3 premiere. Both episodes featured the citadel, went back to the Earth that Rick destroyed, wrapped up a cliffhanger, hopped around multiple dimensions and involved family dynamics. But the season 3 premiere was all about showing what a horrific monster Rick could be (OK, he was lying when he said he didn't care about Morty and Summer in that episode, but still.)

Conversely, the season 6 premiere is about showing a gentler, more affectionate Rick. He goes back for Morty and doesn't make up a bullshit (and mean) "explanation" like he did in season 3. He and Morty show each other genuine affection, although Rick still pulls back a little. We also get a protective Rick moment when he shields Morty with his body.

Even when he tries, yet again, to claim that he doesn't care about the family, Jerry dismisses him. They all know he's lying. He doesn't try to fight it, either.

Some other stuff I noticed:

Feral Jerry looked like Dan Harmon, lol. I wonder if that was intentional.

I liked how Beth and Space Beth argued, but it didn't come across as "lolz women are so catty and hate each other." They just had personality conflicts and got over it in the end.

Seeing Beth, Space Beth and Summer fighting together was awesome. Girls kicking ass.

One thing I disliked was how the episode wrapped up the season 5 cliffhanger in two minutes. I also had that problem with the season 3 premiere--the aliens (the Federation? I can't remember now) invading Earth left, and that was the end of it. I know this isn't a serialized show, but they could've done a lot with that.

I love the details of Rick pulling back when Morty tries to hug him and tensing when Summer hugs him. He does NOT like being touched. Makes sense for an autistic man (and he's obviously reserved in general.)

Feral Jerry was awful to Morty. Although I guess this is the same guy who basically agreed when Beth said she was happy that Morty and Rick were gone, so no surprise there. But damn, why did he yell at Morty? What happened was Rick's fault, not Morty's. He's a 14-year-old kid. This family really loves taking their shit out on him.

I did NOT expect so many trailer scenes to come from this episode. Totally thought the "cute" thing at the end was from something else, like the Rick and Jerry episode. I also thought that Rick fighting the robots would show up later this season. So we saw even less in the trailer than we thought we did.

What are they hiding from us? Damn. I love how we know nothing about this season.

Also, I guess it's canon now that Rick likes kawaii things, lol. He flat-out says that he picked it up because it was cute. Lolita dress! I want to see him in a lolita dress immediately.

This episode did a great job of showing while the family's learning to be a little nicer, they've still got a lot of issues and resent one another. Beth clearly isn't still thrilled about having kids.

Boy, I did NOT expect Murder Rick (or whatever we're calling him) to be "our" Morty's original Rick. I feel like I might've seen people theorize about that, though? It also makes it kind of strange that Rick destroyed Earth and hopped to another dimension, but maybe he was like "Eh, fuck it, he's not coming back."

I want to wrap this up by saying that I loved how this episode focused on Rick and Morty's dynamic while including the whole family. I was worried that the show was starting to lose sight of Rick and Morty, but their relationship was the heart of the episode.

Rick is still a hot mess, but he's healing and growing and I love him so much 💓

There's kind of a theme in Rick and Morty Reddit culture where they tend to make fun of fans who claim to be a fan of the TV show but then complain every single episode or every other episode that the show isn't good anymore and make fun of them for continuing to watch a show that they don't like.

I initially was one of those people that looked down on these people, but now here I am, finding myself to fit into that exact stereotype. And I understand why fans like us exist now.

You can't develop a show that, for the most part, sets up the viewers to be extremely invested in this crazy deranged drunk old man and his traumatized grandson, and the general family dynamic, and to have that be the core of the entire TV show and the point of it, and then to throw in episodes twice at a time or even just once or for half of a season that is just a bunch of gags and ridiculously one off one spin characters and not expect the viewers to feel cheated, especially with the show that is generally as slow in production as much as this one has been.

Even the first episode of this season was a little bit unsatisfying but at least it made sense-it showed Rick hanging out with his friends, and at least someone showing that he's starting to humble himself a little bit so it still made sense overall, we got to see Birdperson, etc. It still felt like a decent episode and it made sense to produce it.

I've never in my life have felt so awkward as a fan of a TV show honestly, because most TV shows are more consistent in their themes than this. For the first time in my life I genuinely do feel a little bit irrationally frustrated and depressed over being a fan of a TV show, and I truly don't think that it's my fault because I was set up to care about a certain theme that this show set up.....just for it to snatch or to rob it away from the entirely of some episodes-THAT THEY TEASE FOR A WEEK BEFOREHAND-at least a good half of the time for a show that only comes out with 10 episodes a year, if even that, as we've seen in the past with the show.

Fans aren't pathetic for being frustrated for being emotionally caught up in a show that swings around worthwhile content that they've been set up to care about to like a piece of meat, and then just to have a bunch of random gags and trash thrown in their face and then to be made fun of sometimes even by the creators themselves (I remember reading an article where Dan Harmon said that he loves to watch his fans cry whenever they get frustrated over the content, which for the most part I find ridiculously immature and pathetic) for being frustrated by it.

I was set up to care about Rick, and to care about Morty, and some parts of the family like Beth and Rick and Jerry and the like. Yes, it is true that it's just a TV show, but it is true that the real world is complete chaos, and I don't see what the point is in cheapening something that has the potential to give people a lot of meaning and connection with others and joy by staying consistent with its theme or at the very least, staying within the general realm of it.

It's not my fault as a consumer if I feel cheated and frustrated viewing the TV show-it's bad writing on the TV shows part. I'm not even usually the kind to even rant about stuff like this, but I truly feel like I've been caught up into a corner where I was cheated or set up into caring about this TV show and expecting for the TV show to play along with me with every single season, but it feels like half the time their intentionally throwing cheap or aimless gags or episodes that genuinely don't really seem to be for anyone-in the sense that I can't think a single person on this earth that would give a damn about an episode about Ice T, much less for the entire episode to revolve around him, and especially when there's only less than a handful of episodes left.

I've never been so dumbfounded as a fan of any piece of media, and I don't think it's my fault in our refuse to blame myself for it. Lol.

It's probably just my autism and my real life personal issues shining through, and I admit to that. I'm also irrationally attached to Rick for a personal reasons. But I've never in my life have ever felt so ridiculously disoriented and frustrated being a fan of literally any piece of media, they're usually all pretty straightforward and consistent about what they're about. The show is so on and off with its content, I almost feel embarrassed to watch the episode next week because of how irrationally frustrated I got about this one being such... Random meaningless trash.

From a local review: "Call it a KIϟϟ Army dream come true: The original members of pop's Kabuki quartet reunited Wednesday night for the first time in 15 years at the taping of KIϟϟ' 'Unplugged,' which will run on MTV late fall. Drummer Peter Criss (the cat guy) and guitarist Ace Frehley (the guy with the lightning bolts over his eyes) joined ongoing KIϟϟ czars Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons on three numbers at the end of the band's first-ever acoustic set. Rock hasn't witnessed such a high-cheese harmonic convergence since Sonny and Cher reunited on David Letterman's show. Then again, the reconvened group chose their material with care. Criss and Frehley sang on numbers more associated with themselves than with the old group (Criss on 'Beth,' Frehley on '2000 Man'). And when they performed a humongous KIϟϟ oldie together ('Rock N Roll All Nite') they made sure to haul out their current drummer and guitarist Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick, respectively to minimize nostalgia. Most of the show featured the current KIϟϟ configuration. It also unfurled an entirely new sound for these gods of stupid-rock. While hardly 'unplugged' (the group featured an electric guitar, full drum kit plus hugely amplified acoustic instruments), the results read as virtual folk-rock compared with their metallic standards. A far brighter sense of melody emerged in their work. Rockers like 'Gotta Choose' or 'Domino' emerged as Raspberries-level power pop. Even better was the smutty 'Plaster Caster' which came out sounding virtually Byrds-like. In general, the band downplayed early faves (no 'Strutter,' no 'Cold Gin') in favor of obscurities from the catalogue, like Simmons' 'Sure Know Something' or a track off their reviled 'concept' album, 'The Elder.' Some cherished hits did turn up, like 'Hard Luck Woman' or 'Rock Bottom.' And, for the most part, Stanley managed to keep his awful caterwaul in check. Expect the loosest and least pretentious 'Unplugged' to date" (New York Daily News, 8/11/95).

The concert showcased the talent of the non makeup Revenge era band. It was the catalyst for the massively successful Reunion tour with Ace and Peter. It was Bruce's last official full performance with the band.

HEADCANONS

samantha simpson was born to an average family in the late 90s, a family that consisted of just her and her parents. it really was average, painfully so, but she considered herself lucky. after all, sam wanted for nothing and all she had to do in return was be a good daughter, which came easily to her. she was polite, disciplined and always at the top of her class, a straight A student by all definitions. it never made her popular with the other kids, especially throughout her childhood.

though she was always happy to talk to other students and partake in group projects (that usually ended up with sam doing most of the work), she never really had any friends  —  until clover and alex came along. by the time high school came around, the three were as thick as thieves. they didn't always get along but no argument was so serious that it couldn't be fixed. so when sam realized she wasn't the only one who'd made it to evermore, her relief was immediate.

despite her strong moral compass and noble personality, sam can be a huge hypocrite at times. being the trio's mom friend, she likes to believe she knows better than clover and alex when it comes to virtually everything, even stuff outside of her realm of expertise. obviously that isn't always the case, yet she still struggles with admitting to being wrong at times. it's embarrassing to her, almost as embarrassing as blanking out during an exam.

while her wardrobe isn't as massive as clove's, it is pretty huge and mostly consists of greens, blues and floral prints. as a lover of fashion as a form of self expression and creative outlet, she's a huge advocate for making it sustainable and less harmful to the environment, and is very much against fast fashion brands and how quickly trends seem to change these days. she's much more into finding what you like and sticking with it.

probably has an entire library for brains. sam feels there's nothing more embarrassing than finding yourself in a conversation and having nothing to say about the topic, so she's made an effort to educate herself in basically everything from pop culture to niche things that somehow align with her personal interests. she's really always looking to talk about, well, anything.

thinks she's so above the girls (especially clover) for not putting her love life before all else but honestly, that isn't always the case. when she falls, she falls hard, but it hasn't really happened many times in sam's life and most recently, it hurt her pretty bad. she's much more career oriented, determined to be her own source of happiness but it does get a little lonely sometimes. it would be nice to have someone to grow old with who isn't alex or clover.

she loves her job at the lab! literally the highlight of her days. deep down, sam is hoping to be the inventor of something that will change history someday, but for now she's pretty content with what she's got.

firm believer of the whole 'healthy body, healthy mind' thing. she exercises everyday whether by working out early in the morning or going for a run, it's her way of destressing and keeping herself sane other than cleaning. she's also very big on meditation and likes to listen to podcasts while running.

sam is a polyglot! she literally learns new languages for fun, it's a whole thing.

 — her parents are german-american. she was born in marina in a big old farmhouse. her great-grandfather moved to america as an immigrant and worked on a plantation, made his way up cos he could speak a lot of languages and therefore win more people over. putnams have always been good at persuasion. for the last two generations, putnam men have owned the farm rather than worked on it, handled finances, kept the books and stocks, and do very little of the dirty work. the putnam farm is a big supplier in the island's meat industry. they have a competition for “the biggest hog in prospect hill” every summer.

— both of her parents had large personalities, so alma’s never really been shy around adults, even as a kid she’d speak to them in a forthright, confident manner, and because she was always surrounded by adults, she’s always seemed a bit wise beyond her years. up until high school, she didn’t really have any friends. other kids thought of her as an oddball, a grown up in an eleven-year-old’s body, and she thought of them as immature and beneath her. rather than sleepovers, bike rides, and making mud pies, alma put her time instead into bettering herself, learning to speak several languages, learning the clarinet, practising ballet, horse-riding. she was a child who always had to have an activity or project on the go, or she would become listless and nightmarish for the carousel of au pairs and nannies hired to care for her.

— after turning down juliard bcos of said injury, alma went to columbia uni and majored in classical civilisation. she can read ancient greek and latin, but she also speaks french and beginner’s italian. she studied classics cos she thinks it makes her sound smart, but actually doesn’t really care for latin and just loves learning about feckless hedonism and the festivals of bacchus and writing about how all women in myth are literally forgotten or abused for their bodies and the greek fascination with cannibalism. anyway she spent most of her time at uni doing ballet and theatre anyway

— she’s very much a consolidation of every character in the secret history. has a morbid longing for the picturesque at all costs. obsessed with w.h. auden and the beat poets. the film to watch if you want to understand alma is thoroughbreds. there are a lot of parallels between lily (anya’s character) and alma, but she also embodies amanda’s cold disposition and ability to cry on cue.

— alma’s idea of a romantic gesture: exchanging vials of blood so that each of you can carry a piece of your lover around on your neck with you always, or being gifted a ruby-hilted dagger engraved with her initials. she wants the fucked up kind of love that megan fox and machine gun kelly have. her love language is gifts (sociopath) and words of affirmation.  

— she will put everything else on hold for success. she lets things consume her with obsession. at university, her academic merit and her reputation within the theatre society was all she could focus on. she loves the smell of libraries, the ancient smoke of learning, of feeling like old wine in a new bottle reincarnated from the bones of some old, dead witchy woman who invented a cure for cowpox or somethin. as well as the practical elements of ballet, she loves the theory of it. she’ll read every book she can find, despite knowing u can’t learn a skill like that from a book. she will stop at nothing 2 get what she wants. watch ur damn backs.

— pretentious motherfucker. loves poetry, especially the romantics, loves the morbid poets even moreseo, edgar allen poe, sylvia plath, allen ginsberg, she just loves them all. can’t get enough. her favourite films are like…. wanky artfilm independent european cinema. especially french new wave. loved umbrellas of cherbourg and her clothing style is based a lot around looks in that film.  “what do you think of goddard’s work??” while snorting a line off someone’s sink at 5am on a school night, but you can bet she’ll make it to that 9am ballet class smelling of rose petals, looking pristine and like butter wouldn’t melt on her tongue.

— very intelligent and beautiful and knows both of those facts. loves to play devil’s advocate and growing up she was always an active member of her school’s debate society. humanitarian, vegan. judgemental but takes great care not to appear so. extremely petty and vindictive. must come first. obsessively devours mystery and thriller novels. she herself is a gillian flynn book waiting to happen.

— performance-wise, one of alma’s most commendable traits is her sheer tenacity and lack of inhibition – she is willing to do whatever it takes to climb to the top, and kick as many other people down as necessary on her way there. this unhinged hunger for success was evidenced when alma played tamora in titus andronicus. feeling the presentation of one of shakespeare’s most terrifying women was ‘pussy-footed’ and dulled down for a male audience, alma took matters into her own hands, and during the famous banquet scene where tamora is fed her own sons, she ate a pig’s heart live on stage – receiving both awestruck and horrified press reviews for her performance – and getting expelled from her vermont boarding school. she was 14 at the time.

*sigh* oh jerry. that whole ‘loving you is a work’ honestly had me seeing red for a few hours straight. i love jerry’s hurts/pains. but this one!!!! is like NO, fuck beth, you’re a vile woman! >n< 

so-so vile. and honestly, this should have been a huge red flag for any push of ‘romance’ between them, even partly bc it’s sorta twisted how they force beth into it as well, despite the fact she clearly hates this aspect of her life. she hates her marriage. hates him. thinks that he’s just like her mom. and for jerry.....i just wish that he didn’t have to spend a second near her. looking at that wreched bi word of a wine wife. *groan* 

beth & jerry’s narrative always was very frustrating to me, but at the same time, gross ‘romanization’ of long-term abuse aside, well, i could sorta see how this would work between them. between such people in general. yet, forcing them back together was one hell of an author’s avatar move. harmon’s wishful thinking, i’ll bet. 

then, there is that weird paralell between rick and beth, that some people adore cling to. but like when it comes to comparison on how rick also picks on jerry, i must say, that usually, it’s not all that deep for jer personally. he doesn’t care TOO sincerely about HOW rick depicts him (canon wise). he doesn’t see himself needing to live up to his expectations most of the time. vs beth, who had conditioned him into feeling, like he needs to meet some of her needs, no matter how selfish and one-sided they are. such as keeping her good-for-nothing father around their kids. but beth herself does a shitty job of keeping a track of what rick is up to, so it’s always her kids and jerry, who tend to pay the price of keeping him around. in a way, rick’s abuse of them is more personal vs what he gives beth. sorta sad - for her - isn’t it? he won’t even bother to give her meaningful pain.  

idk. years later this clip still gets under my skin. it’s one of those instances, where i started feeling slowly burning hate for beth as for character. it wasn’t quick, funny enough. in fact, i only began to truly loathe her, after attempting to understand her character, looking closely at/on it. 

but where rick’s nature always be ‘predatory’, beth is just like a bottom-feeder, an c-class abuser with nothing to give. the humor of it all is that they had to literally re-write her whole character in the end of 3th season to make it ‘work’. and it’s despite the fact, that the default beth of 1-2 seasons could actually idk be turned into smth else via progress of the story, be it good or bad progress. eventually, they did the same with the rest of the main cast, but like...it feels a tad jarring. if loving someone is so hard and unthankful, then ‘quit‘.

COMMENTARY:

Tabor has to take Jesus out of Revelation: his entire canon is based on taking Jesus out of the equation. It's the essence of the critical historic method of the Post Modern Historic Deconstruction of the Jesus Seminar and the dialectic Marxism the employ.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but the Jesus Seminar uses the same libertarian logic in its  intrpretation of the Gospels that Ayn Rand employs in the Virute of Selfishness and MAGA Mike Johnson uses to interpret Romans 13:1 - 7, the basis of his oath of offth, to accommodate treason in his official duties.
