Sue moved straight into the brand-new house in Bigg City that Andy and Sara bought together. Sara's had a locked want to marry Sue for ages, but work hours were inconvenient and anyway it'll have to be "marriage," because it's the 30s and the laws are stupid.

Gene Poole drooped by and immediately started matchmaking Andy and a professor? Yeah, I don't see it, either, but who knows what Gene's up to now that he's a townie?

Regardless, Sue settled right into Homemaker mode and she and Sara made out when she got home, when they had the house to themselves because Andy was at work. The tentative plan is to create the impression among the neighbors that Sue and Andy are married and Sara is the Maiden Aunt. When Sue starts wanting children, that's what Andy and a turkey baster are for. Andy's on Dot's string and shows no signs of wanting to settle down so it might even work long-term.

I think that fandom glosses over how fucked up the Alexandrites are: In Doctor Sex, Pal jokes about Cam being stolen away to the Alexandrites--but Cam is a CHILD here. YUPPP. we've talked about this so much in the discord server because it really is so wild. it certainly doesn't seem like non-necromancers on the sixth choose which soldier division (hot and competent, hot and incompetent, ugly and competent) they're pulled into, meaning they're being judged on their physical abilities and attractiveness, which is both beyond fucked up and imo def plays into the cavalier-as-female gender binary analysis. and it also seems like non-necromancers don't have a ton of options (in any house) if they don't train to join the cohort — non-necromancers cannot rule, and how high they can ascend in house society seems limited. i might be mistaken, but it certainly seemed like all the scientists in doctor sex were adepts considering their psychometric abilities, and camilla says that if she weren't pal's cavalier she would have gone into data entry. which, once again: one section of society is categorically barred from even taking the tests that would allow them to rule/gain significant political say, based on a seemingly immutable characteristic? rings a bell...

Woody is grateful to have the support of his family right now. He’s been skipping work to play video games and sleep.

Edge cheers him up by revealing his ability to conjure grilled cheese sandwiches out of thin air - must be some sort of alien ability he’s unlocked! When Leela gets jealous of her brother’s power, Woody steps in and offers to sit outside with her while she looks through the telescope in the rain. Henry also steps up to be a support animal.

Next door to the David Ottomai live a couple of dormies who got playable through the Greeks. Lacy Roush got an outing call from Gene and went out to the nearest Bigg City venue to the location from which I townified him, the Seedy Bowl. Lacy had a fine time but Gene made the mistake of inviting both Andy Bellum and Edward Chert, who hate each other. No particular reason that I know of (I don't think Edward's one of Dot's dates), but they're both pretty grouchy, so who says they need a reason? Lacy tried her best but it was a short and not very successful outing, thanks to them.

Spent the morning and afternoon writing queer smut during a writers talk today. Perhaps in retaliation for one of the contributors talking about how she wanted people to think one of her characters was gay, just so she could reveal that he was not gay and is actually het-married with kids.

She was offended that she was accussed of queerbaiting. Except that was exactly what she did. She tried to play it off as, he was straight all along and planted the seeds for the eventual reveal that he's canonically straight, but like. Girl. You explicitly said you wanted to make them to think he was gay, then made him definitely absolutely in no way anything other than straight.

That is queerbaiting.

Sadly there was no explaining this to her. And then said something like "apparently people would rather believe he's gay, than believe a straight guy wouldn't rape a woman."
