Prompt 271
“Grandmother is visiting,” Damian suddenly said with no warning and with his usual not-quite demanding tone.
“Who?” Tim wasn’t the only one to startle, seeing as Bruce had practically froze, a downturn to his lips in a silent show of confusion.
Damian scowled. “Are you deaf Drake? Grandmother is coming to Gotham to, quote, make sure I am being properly cared for.” None of them had known that Ras was with anyone actually. At least Tim was pretty sure that would have been in the files.
“Oh?” Dick didn’t quite crouch to Damian’s height but it was a near thing. “She-” “He,” Damian corrected, interrupting him. They all exchanged a glance before Dick continued.
“Is he coming to the Manor or…”
Damian scoffed again, a tiny bit of a flush against his face. “No, Grandmother will most likely be staying with Akhi-”
Now wait one moment-
“YOU HAVE ANOTHER BROTHER?!”

There is a happiness no-one else knows:
the feeling of mud between fully webbed toes;
the caress of a breeze on your moist shiny skin;
the warmth of the sunlight that slowly soaks in;
the gentlest hum of a thought far away,
as you sit and you soak and let time tick away.

Snoot boopers, this one’s for you! Meet the duck-billed tree frog (Triprion spatulatus). Found on Mexico’s Pacific coast, this species inhabits altitudes of up to 1,640 ft (500 m). Arboreal and primarily nocturnal, it feeds on invertebrates including crickets, grasshoppers, and spiders. Scientists have observed this critter using its shovel-like head to plug the openings of its burrows, guarding itself while it rests inside, which is why it’s also known as the shovel-headed tree frog.

Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
Camouflage is a valuable skill in the animal kingdom, and what better way to do it than to make yourself see-through? Glass frogs accomplish this by storing most of their blood in their livers while they sleep, rendering them almost completely transparent! When awake, they appear mostly green, except for their undersides which remain partially translucent.

Muppet Fact #1052
Originally, Kermit was going to be sitting on a lilly pad and not a log during the "Rainbow Connection" scene in The Muppet Movie, but it was easier to hide Jim Henson and position Kermit using the log.

Is this amphibian a visitor from outer space? 🛸 Nope… it’s the Yucatan casque-headed tree frog (Triprion petasatus), a species that can be found in parts of Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala. How does it put its head to use? When the weather is dry, this frog has been observed nestling into tree holes. It plugs the opening with its hard head, using it as a barrier against the outside world. This is thought to help the frog retain extra moisture in its skin!
