it takes the two boys a while to realize they both love you and once they do, it gets a little awkward between them

both suggest the other one should have you, but both deny as well. in the end, they settle on fighting for you and the better one wins!

sylvain continues his usual flirting with you, often taking you on dates as well, while felix attempts to have more time with you than sylvain, without actually having to call it a date or admit to his feelings

felix also likes to play dirty, telling you small lies like "sylvain won't be joining us today" so he'll have you to himself or he'll cover your eyes when sylvain is does something impress during training, to prevent you from seeing it

I had a hunch that Past Alear was stronger than Present Alear, so I grabbed an average stats calculator, punched in the numbers and sure enough, they are.

These are Past Alear's Normal mode stats (for the sake of this analysis, let's ignore the Revival Stones and Marth's stat boosts):

While these are Present Alear's average stats in Fixed Mode as a Dragon Child of the same level (so arguably with the same experience Past Alear would have):

As you can see, they are completely outclassed in everything but Luck. (Also that six Build difference, gee Alear must have lost a ton of weight during the coma)

They can only match them when promoted to a Divine Dragon of the same level. Same HP, Str and Speed, lower Magic, Res and Build, slightly higher Dex and significantly higher Luck. Which makes sense, at this point in time Alear's life was nothing but misery.

...but that's in Normal Mode. In Maddening, Past Alear once again wipes the floor with their present self, outmatching them in every stat. Poor Present Alear can't compete even at their max level.

So why does this matter?

Besides the ingame explanation of losing most of their power during the coma KH-style (and the fact that as @airlock pointed out in the replies, a boss that would be evenly matched with one of your units would be a total pushover especially for the endgame), I think it also clearly defines who Alear is at these points of time.

Past Alear can only rely on themselves. And they're so strong because they have to be, else their father decides they're better served as food for the Corrupted.

Meanwhile, Present Alear has so many people they can rely on, from their friends and allies to their Emblems. So their unique skills as a Divine Dragon and as an Emblem are all about supporting them, boosting their allies' performance, speeding up the Emblems' Engage recovery and being able to use their power more effectively.

In fact, Alear is an outlier compared to all the other Avatars because they are not a powerhouse. They can definitely fend for themselves, but they are clearly meant to fit a support role.

So what I'm saying is, it's nice seeing their growth reflected even in gameplay!

Friend Anon it has been FAR too long since someone came here to talk to me about Seteth, thank you for breaking my dry spell.

As for pillow talk, there's the "immediately post-sex" variety and the "waking up together" variety, which I think are very different for him.

For immediately after sex, we're talking: - so much praise and adoration, all with that sweet, warm smile that only you get to see- some at the monastery sometimes doubt whether he smiles at all, let alone like this. It's so soft and gentle, and even though it brings out the creases around his eyes, it somehow looks very youthful on him. - he almost can't help being his most emotionally honest right after being intimate with you. He's ordinarily so private and reserved about his personal feelings, but while coming down from that rush of endorphins and feeling that emotional high, he'll hold you close and gush about how he adores you, and that he thanks the Goddess each and every day that he has you in his life. - having been in a committed relationship before, he also knows the importance of sexual communication, so he's also certain to check in with you about that. He'll make sure you have water, that you're comfortable and so on, and he's more than happy to hear what you enjoyed, anything different you'd like to try- especially since he's got quite a bit of stamina and a repressed libido to let loose, so he always wants to ensure that he was never too rough or demanding with you.

As for in the morning together: - on work days (which, for Seteth, is nearly every day that isn't an important religious holiday or feast day), he's almost certainly an earlier riser than you. He doesn't enjoy it, but it's a long-established habit, and he feels it necessary to stay on top of things. As you can imagine, there's not much snuggling and chatting on these days, but if you haven't woken yet, he'll still always kiss your cheek or forehead before heading to his office for the day. He'd be incredibly embarrassed if you ever caught him doing this, but sometimes, he steals just a moment or two to admire you sleeping peacefully, and reflect on how fortunate he feels to have you. - on the rare occasion that you two do have time together in the morning, he can be convinced to stay in bed and snuggle and/or chat for a bit- though you might end up gently scolding him for starting to ramble about everything he has to get done later. He'll smile shyly and say, "Apologies, my love, you're right that I oughtn't dwell on such things when we finally have time to spend together." - he'll also seize this opportunity to ask you about things you two haven't had the chance to chat about lately; something you've been reading recently that he'd love to hear your thoughts on, one of the monastery cats doing something silly, how your teatime with Flayn was the other day. He's an attentive listener, and cherishes the opportunity to enjoy such light and casual conversation with you.

what the fuck is the red jello? i'm so glad you asked (thrasir metapost womp)

as this is my longest waiting muse, i figure it's time i post baby's first meta. please bear with me on what is basically just... a ramble with images.

(tumblr deleted this in its ((very fucking long)) first pass. so i'm grumpy about having to write it all again)

before there was a feh oc with the name, i took to calling the neon jello-like stuff the hel ocs have eitr. in old norse, eitr is the word for poison, and in nordic mythology it is a liquid substance that gave life to the first jötunn. my headcanons are all derived from that concept (though whether or not i will continue to call it eitr since getting a character with the name has yet to be determined.)

for now, though, we'll be calling it such. has a better ring to it than jello or goo lmao.

so, lina, what does this stuff do? good question. think of it like a preservative. the characters who possess it are all very much dead, and so eitr takes the place of things like organs and flesh when they are no longer needed. all of the helions we have seen are missing their chests and stomachs, so by that fact (and that being where our most important organs are) i assume this is where eitr begins its progression. from there it spreads through the limbs.

and i can say in confidence that it spreads in such a way because thrasir still has hands!

this is her day of devotion alt, in which you can see that beneath her elbow is eitr, and yet her wrists are still flesh. in her default, you cannot see this, because the entirety of her forearm is covered in armor.

looking at her design and the clear lack of care taken in protecting the eitr parts of herself, i've come to the conclusion that the most heavily armored parts of her are likely still skin. this would be part of her forearms + hands and some of her calves + feet. she also is the only oc with all of her face still (and a neck!) though i couldn't tell you why exactly on that one. she's just cool or whatever.

the protection also would make sense under the logic that, because she is dead, any sort of wound will not be naturally healed. were her remaining flesh to sustain any sort of damage, there would be only eitr to replace it. clinging to her last little scraps of humanity is what this is.

now, onto the real pressing question. if i punch her, will my fist go right through? and the short answer is no. the actual texture of eitr is kind of hard to guage, but i'll break it down for you.

based on damaged art, neither thrasir nor ganglot's jello-parts have any effects added to them to display how they react. we have hel and lif to source from, in this instance, and they give... quite different answers.

hel's eitr seems to crack like glass, lending more towards a hard surface than lif, who turns to liquid...?

my takeaway from this is that it depends on the eitr's age. hel has been this way for considerably longer, and is also way less frequently in combat than lif. hel's eitr would be cured, almost, and hardened on the outside, whereas lif's is probably still a little squishy (especially if it is consistently taking damage and being renewed.)

so this would give us thrasir's answer, which is that hers is likely somewhere in the middle. punching her would probably feel about the same as punching a normal person -- kind of squishy but definitely solid.

and of course, the most important question: is she cherry flavored?

no. and if you lick her you will die, be it because eitr is poisonous in nature or thrasir would explode you. one or the other, whichever comes first.

Day 1: Introductions here

When Alfonse tells Jane not to befriend the heroes she summons, she does the opposite because she no longer wants to listen to anyone. Most of the time it's fine and she gets along with mostly everyone; there is the occasional person she doesn't but it's nothing bad. Until she summons Grima and goes through hell trying to get him to listen to her; partially because she's stubborn and partially because everyone told her to send him home he's too dangerous. And she wanted to prove them wrong.

Let's talk about the ones in this image here:

Grima: Becomes Jane's special partner but the start was rough, her snarky attitude pissed him off and she taunted him to do his worst. Once he found a loophole in the summoners contract, the summoner is only protected physically not mentally he tried to break her spirit in various ways. After finding out her hidden hatred of humanity in one of his cruel attempts became curious about her and the two came to an understanding. He's like her shadow always there, even if it's a meeting he can't be a part of.

Leo: Jane's first summoned hero and her advisor. She doesn't listen to his advice most of the time however. It's his job to keep her in line and prevent her from getting into too much trouble. Enjoys being in charge for it allows him to step outside of Xander's shadow a bit. Sees Jane like another sister and butts heads with Grima and his "ideas" often.

Corrin: Jane's best friend in the new world, always willing to lend a hand. Full of trust. It's her heart and kindness that prevents Jane from going too far and saves the team from a lot of trouble. Also sees the summoner like a sibling, a sibling from another world. Really wants to befriend Grima and might be making progress with the Fell Dragon the more they interact as a team.

Azura: Quiet and reflective usually is the one to deal with the messes the group gets into. Her song can both calm and invigorate. Really interested in music from Jane's world and fascinated with the different styles. Once she learns of Jane's hidden secrets she is able to understand having secrets of her own about Valla.

Alfonse: Great friends with Jane but exasperated with her tactics of act first think later. Despite this he still trusts her with his life. Once he discovered she does the opposite of what he asks often he plays mind games with her and asks her to do what he doesn't want knowing she'll do the opposite. He has a 50/50 success rate of this tactic.

Plumeria: Someone agrees humans are disgusting? As a sex repulsed asexual Jane feels awful for Plumeria having to do that job because she sure couldn't do it. They're able to bond over this. With Askr Plumeria is slowly able to stop the job she hates and gives fluff instead of smut. Gains the nickname the Sugar Plum Fairy with her new purely romantic dreams.

Eir: Is the one to convince Grima and Jane to take over Hel so it has a ruler while she rebuilds Ymir her true home. Considers the order to be her new home. Gets really into magic girls after learning about them from Jane

Robin: Jane's tactics teacher; the only reason she does more than running headfirst at the enemy. Used to wake her up for her tactics lesson with a bucket of cold ice water, because she refused to wake up early but stopped once Grima moved in. Originally not very happy about the summoning of the Fell Dragon but over time the two are like twin brothers, and they fight over who is older.

trying to make the two of them spend time together only backfires, as your attempts to help them become friends often end in arguments between shez and byleth

eventually, you set the two of them an ultimatum: you'll only pick one of them, if the two of them can finally get along!

they don't need to become best friends, but you want both of them to be part of your life, without having to compromise!

Intermission I: Festival

Occasionally in my stories there will be chapters called intermissions, where the focus will be on interactions between characters and are used to move the story along, as to not linger too long at a certain point. As a rule, intermissions hold no plot points, but that doesn't mean that the points brought up won't be touched upon later. Essentially, these can be seen as filler. Intermissions are formatted like headcanons for the sake of efficiency.

• Once Xinyan started playing, everyone was in awe. You had tried to explain rock to them before but could never find the right words, and it was made abundantly clear why from this performance.

• Hu Tao spent a great deal of time listening to Mercedes's ghost stories, enamored by the feeling of a chill running down her spine from words alone.

• Xiangling was having the time of her life. Not only was Raphael willing to taste test almost anything, but Dedue was more than willing to share some Duscur recipes.

• Ashe and Xingqiu hit it off almost immediately. How could they not while they both hold a burning passion for literature, chivalry, and justice? They've both commented on how the other seems like a hero from a story they read, one of noble birth and one of humble origins.

• You already know but I'm going to say it anyway. Felix and Childe got into a fight. It was actually closer than you'd think, Childe still won but he was so impressed that someone without a vision could do so well against him. Offered to be Felix's sparring partner again in the future.

• Beidou, Catherine, Jeralt, and Alois are now drinking buddies.

• You shared your reward money with the others, not having much use for the sheer amount and also knowing you wouldn't regret it as Ningguang has already discussed a meeting schedule with Alfonse and Sharena to discuss a currency exchange rate.

• Dorothea, Manuela, and Yun Jin discuss how operas of their respective worlds differ, the two divas hoping to give the current opera singer any pointers they can. She likely doesn't need any, but she's so curious that she wouldn't say that out loud.

• Hilda, finally having some mora thanks to you, decided to try on some fancy Liyue dresses, and Hilda's fashion choice combined with Liyue's style of clothing left Marianne a blushing, stuttering mess.

• Ferdinand was enthralled by Teyvat's many weapons. Even just the polearms had a variety of designs and it sparked his collector's flame, and when he heard some people had signature weapons unique to them, without being sacred artifacts or heirlooms, he wanted to explore all of Teyvat at that point just to see these weapons.

• Seteth, Flayn, and Rhea were interested in Liyue's religion and history, but not wanting a glorified children's tale they asked around and were led to Ganyu, who was surprised but thrilled that someone outside of Liyue's devoted was so interested in its history to the point of wanting the facts without the fluff.

• If you thought Shamir and Yelan would get along, you were wrong. They don't hate each other, but Yelan can't stand how blunt and work focused Shamir is. It's more of a one-sided thing as Shamir actually doesn't mind Yelan's "outgoing" attitude. (I had to close the game because I was not expecting this woman to whisper in my/Aether's ear during the last Lantern Rite event.) However, they both have mutual respect for each other's efficiency. Their interaction was brief, so they didn't really get to know each other.

• Dimitri, Edelgard, and Yuri wished not to offend any Liyue citizens and to not be cheated like the tourists they are, leading them to Yanfei, who was more than willing to teach someone about Liyue's laws and how to avoid scam artists.

• Claude wants to learn about Liyue's culture. Being the idealist that he is, he hopes it'll help him find a way to convince Almyra and Fodlan to stop fighting. This leads him to ask around, starting conversations with countless familiar faces.

• The two Byleths were keen to bring Sothis to a food stall, as the goddess has only recently attained a physical form thanks to being summoned. The two were met with a fist to the gut each after commenting on how cute she looked while eating.

• Arval, being in a similar position as Sothis, is also accompanied by the two Shez's. However, they seem more interested in physical activity like dancing or making their own lantern.

• Hubert, while keeping an eye on Edelgard from the shadows, was scared half to death when he realized he was being watched by a masked spearman. While their face was covered, he could feel a glare that threatened to pierce his entire being. Truly, none can escape the eye of The Vigilant Yaksha.

• Lorenz could be found trading poems with Xingqiu or Hu Tao.

• Jeritza was accompanying Mercedes and was practically being harassed by Tartaglia's requests to spar after hearing about him from Felix.

• The Traveler and Paimon met Constance and Hapi. They were kind of put off by Hapi's seemingly uncaring tone, but it was cute how her tone would shift when talking about her Coco. Constance was bosting about house Nuvelle as usual. When the two groups parted, Paimon couldn't help but comment on how familiar Constance's behavior was, but she couldn't explain why.

• Ingrid had lost sight of Sylvain, and when she found him, he was talking to Shenhe. Assuming the usual was taking place, she grabs Sylvain by the ear, apologizes, and drags him off, leaving Shenhe confused, as they were just talking about flowers.

• Monica is attached to Edelgard at the hip, constantly trying to get her to wear some accessories she thought would look nice on her.

• Bernadetta, still on the boat, decides to paint the harbor as the lanterns lit up the city enough for her to see it, and her window gave her the perfect view.

• Linhardt tried getting books from Wanwen bookhouse, but he couldn't tell fact from fiction, as in he couldn't read Teyvat's writing. Due to language not being a topic of interest for him, he gives up.

• Caspar and Ignatz had left the city. Caspar had too much energy to stay in the harbor, and Ignatz wanted to paint Liyue from a good angle. Both had a chance encounter with Kazuha, who complimented their respective qualities.

• Balthus had told everyone about Genius Invokation and suggested it to them as well

If someone is absent from this, it means I couldn't think of anything involving them. My knowledge of certain characters is limited( I had to dig for Lorenz's poetry bit. ). Also, I know Yelan isn't really like that, but I put that in because I thought it might get a chuckle out of some people.

So now that Embla has dropped, is it cool if I ask for Embla and summoner headcanons, platonic or not?

Embla:

-Embla is difficult to find. She hides among shadows and only appears when she knows she is needed for battle. If Summoner actively seeks her out, she ignores them for quite some time.

-"I have no interest in speaking with you mortal. Approach another." She'll tell them from the shadows, her presence disappearing as quickly as it approached. And she's quite adamant of this fact. "I am here to fight your battles, not appease your misplaced desire for companionship."

-She'll eventually come around. It's slow and subtle when she does. First she becomes easier to find, she'll let her place in the dark be known but won't outright come out until Summoner grows closer with her. "I don't understand why you continue to pester me, we have nothing to speak of." But still, if they do have something to say she does listen, however, she's scowling the whole time.

-When tolerance turns to fondness, she frets. Refusing to allow herself to fall victim to the loss of another mortal, she'll return to the dark, ignoring them outright if they search for her. They can still feel her watching and following behind them in the night.

-The day she comes around is abrupt. Appearing before Summoner at random. "I forbid you to die. If that foolish child of Askr asks you an impossible task, refuse." She isn't joking, she will turn around and tell Alfonse no for them. Maybe throw in a threat or two.

-Being friends with Embla is strange because sometimes Summoner forgets they're even friends to begin with. She's protective to the point of being insulting if she thinks they're about to do something dangerous. "If you wish to die Summoner, merely ask me and I will save us both some pain." She wouldn't actually... okay maybe.

-"I have no need for offerings but since these are from you, I will accept them." Any gifts from them are labelled as offerings, but unlike offerings she does actually treasure most of the things they've given her. Even if she considers them silly mortal trinkets.
