Entry of the Gladiators
Remember my Fake Sith AU? Yeah, so I got around to writing it.
I started writing this around a year ago, planning to finish and post for an event. I never finished. So. Here's what I have so far, and let's hope I can get around to finishing it at some point lmao.
The year is 7939 CRC, and Obi-Wan is one-hundred percent not moonlighting as a Sith Lord with a drawling accent and a linen suit. And Anakin surely isn't pretending to be his unhinged Sith second. And Ahsoka definitely isn't actually a vigilante. And Cody absolutely isn't enjoying the chance to manage an entire set of organized crime rings. And Rex certainly isn't seducing the half-mad head priestess of an evil cult. Totally.
Chapter 1: Wake Me Up (Before You Go-Go)
Fun fact: I went to upload the first chapter of this fic, which I started writing a year ago, and I forgot I had a title for the chapter, so I just slapped something together to put into the chapter title slot.
Then I went back to my planning document and it's the same damn chapter title.
I am very predictable.
----------
Anakin wakes up with a pounding headache. This is, against all wishes, a very familiar feeling for him. Unfortunately, it has almost never been a result of something fun, like alcohol. He’s much more likely to wake up drugged and chained by his enemies or recovering from grievous injuries than, say, boozing up.
Hondo incident notwithstanding, of course.
(Besides, Obi-Wan got drunk too. That makes it his fault.)
As he catalogues his remaining fingers and extremities past the pain in his skull, he hears others shuffling nearby. The Force isn’t warning him at all, so they’re probably friendlies.
There’s a quiet groan a few feet away, high-pitched, that is almost definitely Ahsoka.
When he sits up, it’s to more pain and the ugly little realization that Ahsoka must also be in pain.
Obi-Wan’s voice cuts in. “What did you do, Anakin?”
“Nothing!” Anakin protests, his own voice loud enough to set his headache off. He runs through his most recent memories in hopes of uncovering actual wrongdoing. He doesn’t seem to actually have any memories past entering the possibly-Sith-in-origin temple, though. That’s… a bad sign, in part because they are now outdoors and looking at a completely different sky. “You went into the sketchy temple, too. I don’t remember doing anything that could have knocked us all out, especially not knocked us out and transported us to what’s probably a different planet.”
“Sky’s orange,” Ahsoka notes, getting unsteadily to her feet. There’s a moment where it looks like she’s about to fall, but Rex is closer than Anakin, and reacts fast enough to steady her.
Anakin finally gets a full look around. His master, his padawan, his captain, and Commander Cody, who isn’t Anakin’s in any way, except as a friend, but that’s not an exclusive group, because ‘his friend’ could mean a lot of—
He’s getting distracted.
“If we’re lucky…” Obi-Wan says, stretching his back with an awful cracking noise. He eyes the sky with distaste. “If we’re lucky, the cloud cover will dissipate and let us see the constellations when night falls. We can figure out where we are then.”
“Anticipating hostility from locals, sir?” Cody prompts
Obi-Wan shrugs. “Don’t want to hedge our bets on there being locals. We aren’t where we were, and we aren’t in another temple, either. Most planets in the galaxy aren’t actually inhabited by sapient species…”
“But that’s mostly because most of them don’t have breathable air, isn’t it?” Ahsoka asks. Anakin pats her between the montrals, almost like Obi-Wan used to ruffle his hair when he was this small. Well, smaller. Ahsoka at fifteen tolerates this much better than Anakin at the same age.
Ahsoka at fifteen is, however, the same height as Anakin at thirteen, when Obi-Wan was still ruffling his hair.
“You’re right, Ahsoka. Since this planet does have breathable air and some vegetation, the chances of sapient habitation are relatively high,” Obi-Wan agrees. “So, we’ll see how it goes. If we can find civilization that isn’t hostile to us, we might get off by nightfall.”
Anakin has a feeling that’s a bit too optimistic.

Asfsgdgf Sheari has to put up with so much SHIT from these clowns. I really have to wonder what she thinks about their case as we get further in. Because, like. Anakin's in two relationships. But he only married ONE of them.
"A marriage that demands your loyalty and prioritization" surely can't be too far off when Anakin has clearly prioritized Padme by marrying her... Does Sheari ever suggest that Obi-Wan would feel more secure in their relationship if Anakin married him too? Make it harder for Anakin to leave, give Obi-Wan equal standing, (shut both their brains down by just saying it) -- or would that be outside the boundaries of what's acceptable to address?
such a good question!!!
so the timing needs to be real perfect for this whole leg of the story - Sheari can bring up the marriage before obi-wan and anakin realize she thinks they’re together but she can’t really get into the meat of the marriage issue (aka by asking why anakin married someone else and not obi-wan when it seems to be the root of a lot of obi-wan’s anxieties about future anakin abandonment - anakabdoment if you will) because if she asked them point blank why anakin hasn’t married obi-wan or shown him he loves him in some legal and binding way equal to the marriage he gave Padmé, both anakin and obi-wan are going to be like well. cause we’re not in love,,,,or together,,,, to her face
And that’s not the way the story is going to go!! So before sheari can really ask about the marriage, anakin and obi-wan need to realize that she thinks they’re a couple and then they’re going to need to decide that they’re going to actively lie and pretend to be a couple so that they can keep seeing her because they’ve already been vulnerable with her and they don’t want to start over with someone else
and before that can happen, they need to actually be vulnerable with her over an issue that they would need her to know about but would be very reluctant to tell anyone or talk about
which is gonna be forthcoming in the next few chapters (as soon as they stop storming out of the sessions)

57 - 83, correspondence in a haunted house :3
Codywan, warning for Order 66 and all that implies. Apologies to @ilthit; I know these aren't your blorbos. And apologies to everybody whose blorbos they are for the angst.
---
The hut looks utilitarian from the outside, in the ugly way all buildings designed for hostile environments do - a squat, ugly thing, trying to protect life in the Tatooinian deserts that are so unforgiving to it. It reminds Cody of the war, of efficiently designed ships and makeshift shelters. Obi-Wan always hated the war, despite excelling at it.
"This isn't the kind of place I expected you to settle down in."
Cody's voice is hoarse. Who's to say from what. Lack of use. Too much of it.
"And yet, you found me." Obi-Wan's words flow the same way they always did, smooth like honey and crisp like fresh water, despite his having spent the last however kriffing many years as a hermit with no one to talk to but his personal demons.
Tatooine in general is nothing like the places Obi-Wan used to be most at ease, back when they worked together. He was at home in the lively cityscape of Coruscant, and enjoyed sojourns on planets teeming with green, living things.
"Cody, I-"
His voice is closer now. Cody didn't hear him move.
"Still not one for materialism, I see."
He slowly makes his way through the main room, stepping around sparse furnishings and careful to keep his eyes off the sleeping area.
"Well, a nexu can't change its stripes."
Obi-Wan is in front of him again, as if by magic, or some Force trick. There's a softness in his voice, and it sinks into Cody's gut like a vibroblade.
"I thought I changed." He stares at the ground because he can't look up at Obi-Wan, and he can't look back at the bed.
"Oh darling, that was never you."
"It still is me. I shouldn't have come. I should have stayed away."
"I've missed you."
Obi-Wan's feet shuffle into view, soft cloth coots and soft leg wrappings silent where Cody's beaten armour creaks with each breath he takes.
To be fair, they are rather heaving breaths.
"I've missed you too. Once I could again."
He's through the kitchen, now. There's a pantry to his left, and a bathroom to his right. That's the extend of the hut; there's nowhere else to go.
Obi-Wan stays in front of him, even as he turns around.
"I mourned you. I thought I killed you. When I heard rumours that you were still alive, I couldn't help myself."
There's a side door in the kitchen. He should go there instead of back to the living area. That's where the bed is.
"Cody, dear. You came all the way to see me. Won't you look at me? I promise, all that could happen already has."
He can hear the ventilation unit running to the side. Despite its reassuring hum, Cody can't breathe properly.
"I thought I was safe for you."
"Calm yourself, Cody. You are safe for me now."
They are standing close enough now that, underneath his armour, the hairs on Cody's arms stand on edge.
Cody gives up and looks up. He never could help himself, or he wouldn't have come in the first place.
Obi-Wan's eyes are blue, so blue, and the skin around them is lined with crow's feet and sorrow. Even now, the smile they crinkle with is sad.
"There you are, darling," he says. He's so close, and yet his breath doesn't cool the sweat on Cody's face.
Nothing more does happen as Cody looks at him and Cody, Cody finally gets to see him.
It already has, after all.
Through Obi-Wan, blue, blue, blue like the sky and just as untouchable, he can make out the shape of the corpse tangled in the sheets, a curl of steam still rising from the blaster hole C-2224 put between his eyes.
Good soldiers follow orders, the Jedi are traitors, and Cody sinks to the ground while the illusion of the man who paid for his mistake asks him to breathe.

Ask game title: Do you what I have been through (Fall into the Dark)
Siths have yellow eyes.
Orochimaru has yellow eyes.
Therefore when Orochimaru suddenly finds himself in a new-seal-gone-wrong-experiment-so-now-in-some-new-unknown-territory, it's not too surprising that the Jedis that he ends up running into all think he's a Sith.
Oh, and did I mention that this is during the Clone War?
It's a good thing that Orochimaru can take over other people's bodies... And Palpatine is no match for a snake but he's a little too old and ugly for Orochimaru's taste, so he just gets killed, not possessed.

We thought you knew
So this idea is both undeniably crack, and an AU of the Rako Hardeen arc.
The first thing to be aware of is that not a single member of the Jedi council is taking the threat against the Chancellor seriously.  The analysts of the Jedi Shadows, the intelligence portion of the Jedi, all agree. The only way that this attack against the Chancellor is actually a viable threat is if the Chancellor is a Sith, and the mastermind behind the attempt. And nobody believes that the Chancellor is a Sith.
The council does decide to fake Obi Wan’s death to send him under cover, but it is only because the Chancellor seemed so proud to be contributing a plan. However they do not change Obi Wan’s face, they do not change his voice, they do not even make him give up the Jedi robes.  The only attempt to change his appearance is that his hair and his beard were shaved.
They do not tell anyone that they are faking his death because they all thought it would be exceedingly obvious. Like the entire council thought that there was no way that Cad Bane or anyone else would fall for this, so they figured Obi Wan would be brought to the jail and then have to beat up a room full of criminals when he failed to convince them he was Rako Hardeen. Then they could all go back to figuring out how to win a war and try to get Obi Wan to take an actual vacation.
Note: To be fair, it was exceedingly obvious to 99% of the people who knew Obi Wan. Unfortunately Anakin fell into the 1%. So did the mercenaries Obi Wan needed to break out of prison with, and seemingly Count Dooku (Dooku knew who was there the whole time, but was under orders from Palpatine that this plan had to work). Ahsoka and the clones on the other hand, realized even before the funeral-due in part to the extended death scene that happened after Obi Wan was shot that had been written and directed by Mace Windu.
So Anakin is hunting down Obi Wan, in the guise of Hardeen, full of rage and grief. He is being followed at a distance by a troop of clones and Ahsoka. No one realizes until his first earnest attempt at murdering Hardeen that he is not acting. Every attempt to tell him what is going on is rebuffed in the most hilarious way possible.  At one point he is fighting ‘Hardeen’ and first Ahsoka, then Cody, then Rex, then an odd assortment of other clones, then  Padme (and inexplicably Yoda, who was not even on that planet at the time), each scream at him that ‘Hardeen’ is really Obi Wan, with Obi Wan agreeing each time, getting progressively more out of breath. Anakin cries dramatically to the heavens that Hardeen is not Obi Wan, he killed Obi Wan and everyone else is in denial.
Obi Wan is following through the rough plan of the Chancellors, which was never polished into an ACTUAL plan, because no one thought it would get this far.  There is also no good way to tell the enemy that you are undercover, but never thought it would get this far.  Also the surreal suspicion that occurs because ‘this should not have worked and this should not be happening’. Both Dooku and Obi Wan spend a fair amount of time pretending this undercover thing worked and the Dooku has not called him Obi Wan the times while not around the mercenaries.
In the end Obi Wan was there to save the Chancellor, though that this attack happened at all is what clued the Jedi in to the Chancellor being the Sith.  At some point Anakin pouts/is angry that Obi Wan didn’t tell Anakin that Obi Wan was Hardeen. Padme takes a moment to slap Anakin upside the head, because literally everyone told him that Obi Wan was Hardeen.

I am interested in your thoughts on your Codywan Fake Imperial Husbands AU :)
Thank you so much for this ask, Anon!!! Titles are taken from this WIP ask game.
The Codywan Fake Imperial Husbands AU (full working title: Fake Imperial Husbands of the Infinite Sith Sadness, or FIHOTISS) is an homage to/collaboration with this 'verse created by @frostbitebakery. It's a Purge Trooper Cody/Sith Lord Obi-Wan AU with a couple twists, and without giving too much away I can say the fic is going to be a 5+1 involving subterfuge and angst and hopefully some mystery. Here's a wee drafty snippet:
When CC-2224 returned to consciousness, he detected an unknown material covering his face and hands. A mixed-textile fabric. Garment-standard stitching and humanoid tailoring. A coat. It was Lord Tash’s coat, black and heavy - soft. The fibers were thick and soft against his fingers, not as rough as the robes.  CC-2224 blinked. An error. He detected a matching error: the coat was black and soft, but it smelled like - internal memory search initiated - like bergamot, like - warning: file corruptions detected - General Kenobi, he thought, the gray washing over him like a wave before - Initiate full system reboot.

October 27th- "I don't want to hurt you." @sithobiwanevent
Please tap for quality!!
Disclaimer: This is not the Sithywan from yesterday's post, they just uh.. have the same design. And I actually drew this comic first xD
This is from my own Sith!Obi-wan AU! Where Maul is a Jedi, and Obi-wan was Dooku's padawan. Obi-wan follows Dooku out of the Order, they fake his death, and he becomes Darth Vain, a mysterious, masked figure that spreads fear and chaos for the "greater good." AU rambles below!
Oh my GODDDD this took so long! I really thought I was going to do rendering shortcuts for this piece, but I wanted it to be Dramatic and Extra.
A little context! Because this AU lives rent free in my head:
Maul and Obi-wan were best friends (and gay for each other) when growing up in the Temple together. When Obi-wan "died", Maul found it hard to move on, and so threw himself into training Anakin and finding Vain. He has a conspiracy theory board, complete with string, in their shared dorm and everything.
Maul has been looking for Vain for ages at this point. He's training Anakin, but more than that, became obsessed with the man who killed his master (Qui-gon). The timeline is a little switched, in that Dooku left the Jedi Order before Qui-Gon died, but the rest is pretty role-swapped.
Of course he never recognized Obi-wan's force presence during their many encounters, but seeing his face finally makes him realize that his friend is alive. And worse than he ever was.

Entry of the Gladiators 3
Chapter 3: What the Hell is that Accent
Road trip!
--
"So," Obi-Wan says, dry and very obviously displeased. Anakin cringes a little. On the inside, of course. He can’t look scared in front of his student and Rex and Cody. “I suppose we’ve locked ourselves into this... farce.”
What a horrible word for it. Accurate, but still. Anakin doesn’t like that. He tries to argue. “You’re the one who started doing an accent in front of Ventress and her master.”
Obi-Wan pins him with a look. Anakin subsides, and manfully ignores Ahsoka laughing at him.
“I like the farce,” Cody volunteers. "It's a very good... farce."
Obi-Wan shoots him a look of absolute betrayal. "I trusted you.”
“I’m sorry that I have been unable to reward that trust, sir,” Cody says, prim and proper. “Shall I put on some clown makeup? Since it is, after all, a farce, we'll need a jester, and I’m certain that Skywalker and yourself will be too busy showing off your pretty faces to care for painting them up."
Anakin perks up, almost despite himself. "You think I'm pretty?"
Ahsoka snickers.
"You're adorable," Obi-Wan deadpans. Anakin kind of wishes Obi-Wan could say this without being sarcastic. That would be nice, probably.
Instead, he pulls himself up straight, locks eyes with Rex, and says, "so, Tatooine?"

He stands in front of the illegal installation in Lift 14 that keeps not getting cleared despite it not being regulation.
The lift doors have long since closed behind him.
He should remove it.
It’s probably a fire hazard.
He doesn’t move.
He should order maintenance to remove it.
He doesn’t activate his comm.
The doors open behind him, the voices of several of his men spilling into the lift. They cut off when the lift reveals him. He hears the faint sound of plastoid rubbing against fabric, then the doors close again and he’s once again left alone.
He should have Waxer and Boil dismantle it. They built it, after all.
He never should have allowed it in the first place. Patron Sith, really, what were they thinking, what were they. Why. Why did he.
Cody stares at the ridiculous, stupid little altar, sitting on the floor surrounded by painted bits of plastoid, pretty rocks, flimsi folded into shapes and other pathetic, desperate, hopefilled little offerings the crew of the venator have left here, the stupid, useless kriffing altar and the stupid, useless listening bug he’s reasoned with and pleaded with and threatened, and.
His lungs stutter, and the mic can probably pick up how wet his breath sounds, how shaky, how like a sob he’s trying to choke down and that’s choking him right back, but it doesn’t matter; no one is listening to that recording anymore anyway, he’s gone, he’s gone, gone, gone, and Cody. He just.
"I just want my friend back.”
He adds oblations of his own in the shape of drops of salt water.
Nothing happens. The galaxy, or the Force, or whatever, doesn’t care, and the man who did isn’t listening anymore.
Cody is alone.

My [ongoing] CodyWan Fic Masterlist
Hello! Sorry that this post is a little late, as I said in another post, I've been busy and it kinda got sidetracked--but it's here now!
This rec list isn't gonna be as long as the other one, since I haven't really had time to get into new fics (life stuff + the work of writing my own fic), but there a still a good chunk of them + a couple are series.
They're gonna be separated into "Ongoing" and "Abandoned" so that way you know what you're getting into and I'll put more info in the description--and yes, I'm recommending a couple abandoned works because I think they're still good and maybe with enough support the authors will decide to continue. Either way, they're good fics.
Ongoing
shoulder the sky by @shootingstarpilot
Have I already recced this series? Yes. Am I still reccing it again? Also yes.
I seriously cannot rave enough about how awesome and well done this fic is, and no amount of me harping on it will ever do it thejustice it deserves. This fic has made me laugh, cry, get really pissed at the characters, and it has me waiting (im)patiently for every update--like, every single day I check Ao3 and it's just to check if this fic has updated.
It handles Jedi and Clone culture beautifully and adds in so much interesting world building, it perfectly balances out the fluff with the angst, it handles grief and PTSD very well, and so many other things! The author is also honestly just very sweet and even takes time out of his day to reply to as many comments as possible (which is insane, because there are always like 70+ comments on every chapter).
The Emperor and His Mandalorian by wanderingjedihistorian (RangerJedi67)
Technically I think this would be considered finished, but the author has added a new work to the series every couple months since I found it, so I'm adding it here just in case.
It's a Sith!Obi-Wan AU where Obi-Wan kicks Palpatine's ass and becomes Emperor and marries Cody, son of Manda'lor Jango Fett, as an agreement when Mandalore surrenders to him. I honestly really like how this fic handles Obi-Wan as a Sith and how that affects his actions and relationships with others, as well as Cody being a sort of "balance" for Obi-Wan's dark tendencies.
I'm not even a big fan of Sith!Obi-Wan fics, but this series is the one that got me to start reading some of them--so it definitely comes recommended!
no one left to sing to by slotmachines_fearofgod
This fic is a really interesting take on what would happen in TCW if Cody took more of an active role in the story. I love the author's take on Cody's character and how both his duty to his brothers and all the Kamino bullshit effects how Cody handles Obi-Wan and his feelings towards him.
Also the ending of the most recent update had me screaming and crying at my computer.
The art of living anyway by Itstwointhemorningwhyamiawake
A "Rex is Force-sensitive" fic that follows Cody and Obi-Wan's relationship as well. This fic is pretty new, so I don't really know where it's going, but the first two chapters have been amazing so far!
Abandoned
the sun is just a star by clementines_and_colorful_things
It's hard to give this fic a description that does it justice, but it's honestly really really good. It's basically a slow burn that follows Obi-Wan and Cody through TCW and, according to the tags, would eventually lead to Order 66 happening differently than in RotS.
More Than Blood by generalekenobi
Where Order 66 happens a bit differently and Cody and Obi-Wan end up on the run with baby Luke and Leia, having to masquerade as a Mandalorian couple to do so (uh-huh, yep, totally fake--them have feelings for each other? never).
I really love how this fic gives Cody agency and lets him go "no, we're not doing that, try again" and actually effect the story's outcome. It makes the story a lot more interesting and adds to the dynamic between Cody and Obi-Wan--both relationship-wise and in their newfound mission in taking care of the twins.
I Can Barely Recall (but it's all coming back to me now) by Shortcuts_make_long_delays
Ok, so I don't know if this fic is abandoned or just taking a while to update, so I just put it here--just be aware of that.
This is a Modern!AU where Cody and Obi-Wan used to date, but broke up due to something that keeps being hinted at but not overtly stated (and fuck, I just wanna know what happened! It's killing me!), and now Cody meets his ex "Ben" again when he turns out to be Obi-Wan, Anakin's older brother.
This fic is really interesting and well written and, like I said before, I really just want to know wtf the accident is--the suspense is killing me! Ahhhhhh!
Honorable Mention
An honorable mention for Not This Crude Matter by thebitterbeast
This fic was gonna be apart of the "ongoing" section, but the final part was posted like right after I posted my finished CodyWan rec list.
This series isn't just centered around Cody and Obi-Wan, but I still think it handles their relationship--and other relationships--beautifully. It centers mainly around Jedi culture and it's honestly one of my favorite takes on it. I can't recommend this series enough!

If I may ask, what's your take on what happened to Riyo and Fox during Order 66?
During Order 66? What like canonically or AU-verse?
I mean canonically, Riyo was likely treated the same way as Bail Organa and other senators. Not enemies of the Empire but with increased restrictions. Fox likely carried out Order 66 but did not enter the Jedi Temple since that was the 501st.
Now if it's my own AU interpretation it is as follows:
Order-66 AU 1 (Canon-compliant)
Riyo is arrested and interrogated/tortured by Inquisitors and Lord Vader himself because of her known friendship with Ahsoka Tano. However, when they learn she truly knows nothing about Ahsoka's current whereabouts, she is released at the demands of the newly elected Pantoran senator Chi Eekway Papanoida.
Fox is a complete no-show during Order 66 as he was badly injured by General Grevious while defending Chancellor Palpatine during the Battle for Coruscant. Thire assumes command during Order 66 and serves Emperor Palpatine directly.
Order-66 AU 2 (Different Journeys AU)
Very similar to AU 1 except Riyo remains the Pantoran senator. She later has a son to an ‘unknown’ father.
Fox is caught in crossfire and electrocuted by Palpatine during the battle with Mace Windu. Friendly (dark side force) fire is on apparently. Bio-chip is fried. Fakes his death and escapes Coruscant.
Order 66 AU 3 (Bio-chip semi-removed AU aka Clusterfuck AU)
In this AU, Fives doesn’t get drugged and manages to escape. He tries to secretly dechip many clones but is unable to completely stop Order 66. Clones then must decide to obey orders or renegade and side with their Jedi. As such, Order 66 purge sparks a civil war.
Riyo works in the Senate to argue for a repeal of Order 66. Pantora threatens to leave the Republic and join the Separatist. She also joins Padme and other senators to help assist and relocate fugitive Jedi.
Fox initially obeys Order 66 and is tasked with tracking down escaped Jedi on Coruscant, putting him in direct conflict with Riyo, who lures him into a trap wherein Fox is captured by Thorn and dechipped. He then proceeds to continue working undercover.
Order 66 AU 4 (Mace Windu wins AU)
In this AU, Fox accompanies Mace Windu and the other Jedi to confront Palpatine. But when Palps enacts Order 66, Fox turns on Mace. During the fight, Fox gets electrocuted and blearily comes to his senses. He comes to just in time to witness General Windu fighting a red lightsaber wielding Sith. He shoots at Palpatine, who deflects the blaster shot but exposes himself to Windu, who swiftly decapitates him.
Order 66 AU 5 (It never happened AU aka Energy Drink Fox AU)
Fox drinks a killer combination of caf and an energy drink. Ends up killing Palps in 1v1 combat. You keep what you kill. Becomes Emperor Supreme Chancellor of the galaxy.
Riyo marries the Emperor Supreme Chancellor of the galaxy and gets him to relinquish power back to the Senate and call for elections. Boo.
Order 66 never happens. Riyo retires from her role as wartime senator to live life of peace and luxury in her family estate on Pantora. Fox follows her to become a house husband. Of all the clone commanders, he married up and is the most obnoxiously well-to-do. Riyo and Fox happily raise their children while Fox continues to build his secret caf empire and rules the galaxy (again).
~*~
TLDR; I have many, many ideas of what happened to Fox and Riyo during and after Order 66. But most of them are just stories and not comics 😅

Soulmate AU worldbuilding………………………… I am workshopping
I think I want there to have been a society, historically, where warriors formed these force soulbonds to become semi-immortal and drift compatible in combat- something along the lines of being each other's link to life maybe, making it so you have to kill them both just to kill one. Because I think the concept is cool.
And I'm thinking the Sith have a super dark history with it- maybe they co-opted the above? but added hierarchy. Maybe they used these links as a form of enslavement.
I want the exact nature and origins of the phenomenon to be murky and disputed, with wildly different beliefs around them.
I think maybe the most mainstream jedi philosophy around soulmates is that the force sometimes indelibly links people in a string of fate, and these people will have a great impact on each other and learn great lessons from each other and shape each other or meet by fate in order to accomplish something. (but it's not about being inseparable and staying together forever)
But circling back to the Sith and murky origins thing I think it would be cool if there was some fringe theories about dark origins or something. Maybe even that the phenomenon is the result of some old sith curse or something. It's a thought!
(I'm also intrigued by the idea that there are no parent-child soulmates. Possibly because of fate reasons- if you already have a direct hand in someone just existing, does fate need to guide you together? idk this feels goofy but on the other hand I'm thinking how this would shape thinking around it- there's gotta be people who believe it's an inherently romantic thing, since that is technically the trope, and this would be their 'natural' proof- which leads to some horror scenarios with soulmates with big age gaps or whatnot. And also if there are Master-Padawan bonds like that, with people making assumptions about Master-Padawan bonds… it's a thought)
In terms of Palpatine & Anakin as soulmates (which is where this thought started) I can imagine that Anakin believes in soulmates with his whole heart, and that Palpatine is very ready to use that and also some deeply fucked up sith traditions. (i guess in this particular version obi wan and anakin are not 'soulmates' and possibly padme and anakin aren't either, although if they aren't Palpatine possibly contrived to fake that they were for a while)
