New Life in Christ
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. — Ephesians 4 | King James Version (KJV) The King James Version Bible is in the public domain. Ephesians 4:1-6 – Realizing Unity and Peace through Humility
"Only humility will lead us to unity, and unity to peace." Mother Teresa
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and…

Talk the Talk, Walk the Walk
When I think back to being invited to our church’s leadership meeting in 2022, I can feel the excitement all over again. I can remember Micah and I half joking about how we weren’t sure if our pastors meant to invite us. I was nervous and excited to be a part of whatever these meetings consisted of but I also felt that being included in leadership would require a heart posture that was open to…

Church notes - 14th April 2024
14th Ephesians 4:29
Philippians 4:9 - 20
vs 13 We need to be brave and daring for God. He will back us up.
But there is a bigger message.
Paul had chosen to be a servant. He had learned to trust God no matter what his circumstances were.
Paul did anything to reach as many people as possible.
Learning to be content in whatever circumstances God places us in is important.
God is with us and is taking care of us.
God appreciates our gift. vs 18 - 20

A Sense of Belonging Through Worshiping the Lord
Ezra Chapters Three and Four The Judahites returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple to Yahweh. They were provided with the wherewithal to successfully complete the rebuilding project. However, the project had enemies. It seems other people had no problem with the Judahites constructing an altar on the site of the destroyed temple. Worshiping according to the teachings of Moses connected the…

IMSA Race Weekend
I’m always fascinating how we see faith in racing so often. It’s good for us to remember we are in the race together. We might bring different things to the race, but in the end, all the parts are needed.
I’m back at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park once again. This weekend is International Motor Sports Association, (IMSA) Race Weekend. A totally different weekend than that of NASCAR weekend as two styles of cars race on the track together. Continue reading Untitled

The Morning Devotional for May 25, 2023 The Westminster Confession of Faith 17.3 III. New Rules for a New Society (Ephesians 4:25-32)
A new society means new rules to live by which benefit and uplift the entire community.
We are part of the same body. Stop lying and start telling each other the truth. Don’t get so angry that you sin. Don’t go to bed angry and don’t give the devil a chance. If you are a thief, quit stealing. Be honest and work hard, so you will have something to give to people in need. Stop all your dirty talk. Say the right thing at the right time and help others by what you say. Don’t make…

Always speaking the truth from a renewed heart
Today we will be looking at the core Bible principle of the Kingdom of God, and how the establishment of the Kingdom is dependent on the truthfulness of its population. This was represented by the simplest of commands among the Ten Commandments that God spoke from Sinai. Exodus 20:16 – You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. As I have mentioned many times before, when God set…

Daily Devotional: Ephesians 4:25-32
Daily Devotional: Ephesians 4:25-32
Therefore, since we put on a new self in Christ and reject our natural entitled and self-absorbed ways, we lay aside falsehood and speak the truth to one another. The practice of falsehood is a selfish practice. We lie because we don’t want to be found out. We pretend to be righteous because we want to appear to be better than others. We wear masks and call it holy. But, we are members of one…

Living in the Light
Living in the Light
In today’s first reading, believers are reminded to speak “as is fitting among holy ones” and warned with a list of items which are considered “out of place.” Instead we are admonished to speak words of thanksgiving.  This admonition about speaking “as is fitting among holy ones” follows one of the great passages from Ephesians that is not used in any weekday or Sunday liturgy. The verses speak…

You've Been Given Gifts! Receive them. Now Give them Away.
You’ve Been Given Gifts! Receive them. Now Give them Away.
When you are given gifts, you usually get excited about opening them. You probably don’t think of giving them away. Paul, however, says that’s exactly what you should do:“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; and if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to…
