bell I do have a crochet question for you. how do you get better at freehanding things? is it just experience? bc I've been crocheting for a few years now but I still sweat if I can't find a pattern for what I want to make 😭
so my initial answer is just fuck around and find out-- as in just start making stuff, sometimes don't even try for a specific shape, just do stuff and see what shapes you make and get a feel for how increasing and decreasing impact a work, how to incorporate larger stitches (i.e. switch from sc to dc to make one side of the round taller), all that kind of stuff. and maybe try and make something purely based off an image-- as in, no pattern, no fucking clue how to go about it, just go at it and see what you get. it won't always be pretty, but it'll teach you! and practice helps immensely, so you can even just work on things you do have patterns for/know how to make and that will teach you how shapes come together and how to sculpt something (bc that's what amigurumi is, really, just figuring out how to sculpt something with loop & hook-- imo, it's what makes crochet pretty different to other fiber arts, although you can do 3-D stuff with them as well) into what you want.
my other answer is i've been crocheting for thirteen years and i consider myself pretty damn good at it and i still whine and cry when i can't find a pattern for what i want 😭 i think getting really good at tracking stuff down and also sometimes just resigning yourself to having to buy a pattern is really the answer. also, tbh, you can look at how someone else made it and try and replicate that without a pattern-- if you sell stuff, i recommend you still credit the original designer, since you are basing it off their work, but looking at how someone else made something and trying to do the same thing is how a lot of artists build technique. again, don't rip them off entirely, but going "how tf did they make this?" and trying to do something similar can help you learn more about how pieces are put together.
also ravelry, pinterest (if you know how to use it properly and are willing to deal with the spam/clickbait fake pins... bane of my existence), various pattern databases, and, tbh, just rando people's blogs are your best friend. i have a few amigurumi artists where when i'm just absolutely lost, i go on their sites and search up what i'm trying to make to see if they've done it before, and sometimes they have! elisa's crochet has really cute stuff, as does ami amour, and you can find way more people through instagram (the one and only time i will recommend going on that site)

I'm still rotating in my mind the idea of selling stuff I make but well. I do a lot of different stuff through different fiber crafts and I have no idea if it would help or not to have so much stuff instead of one precise direction

Another bee finished! This one is for a local beekeeper’s daughter
My dad knows the beekeeper and next time he sees him is getting fresh honey with honeycomb. When he told me that, I was like “ah, I will make a bee for the bee man*”.
When I told my friends why I was making a bee, @gardenvarietyfae was like “the way you made tooth plushies for the dentist, a chicken plushie for the chicken restaurant, and a llama quilt for the llama farmer**?” and I learned a thing about myself I somehow did not know lol. I don’t even do it on purpose! Sometimes I’m just like “yes, I know the perfect thing to make for this person/doctor’s office/restaurant that is sort of in my life but I’m not friends with!” and then I do!
*I did not know the beekeeper had a daughter when I said I’d make the bee, but he does and apparently she really likes both bee themed things and cute things in general so it works out lol
**I’m paraphrasing a bit, but I was genuinely delighted to learn that about myself, especially from a friend and especially in such a hilarious way

the dollar store did not have much for felt or fabric but i managed to scrounge everything i needed except for guz.ma's skin colour :(
i CAN make the janitor since they had a peach colour but I'll have to look around the house again to see if i can find anything that might work for guz's skin tone

Made my friend a hat, and I think it turned out incredibly well!!
The initial video pattern I was trying to use was using a different hook size, so I had to augment that, and then ended up just freehanding pretty much the entire thing. I only ended up using the eyes and braids from the video. I am really proud with how it turned out for me just winging it lol.
It is spiderpunk!
Here’s a close up on the embroidery for the webbing. I wanted it to actually go around the whole thing, because stopping on just the front looked hella weird.
Probably inaccurate in multiple ways, but hey! I think it looks neat :)

Last night at least half of my twitter timeline was just pictures with Dream and George wearing those crocheted cat ear looking hats. Then an hour ago I was at Hobby Lobby and saw some crochet books on clearance, so I decided to flip through a couple of them in case I wanted to buy one and no joke the second random page I flipped to in the first book I picked up was just:
It’s hard to read but the small text under the title reads “What tween wouldn’t love wearing this sassy hat and matching scarf!” which i just think is funny given the context here
....And yes this photo was taken at my house because yes I bought the book.

This might be my project for a bit, because I have 65 total African flower motifs to make, but I have started my next African flower animal! This one is for a nibling and will be part of a semi matching set. Matched but not matching.

I made a lil koala 🐨 it was pretty fun! A nice quick and small project.
Credit for the pattern goes to “ComplicatedKnots” you can find the pattern here.
I also have an Etsy shop where I sell my crafts, and I do commissions as well. If you want to learn to crochet yourself though, check out my learning crochet master list. It’s helped a surprising amount of people.

I have a little question, I dunno if anyone would be able to help me out.
I like doing crochet and cross stitch stuff, and I’ve made a few cross stitch designs of marvel superhero logos, like Captain America and Thor. I would love to sell these as PDF patterns but I wouldn’t want Disney to then try and close me down or sue me or whatever because of copyright etc. so I’ve decided I won’t ever sell stuff like this because it’s too risky for me, despite other people managing to do it a lot with various things, and getting permission to actually sell them would likely take forever and cost a bomb.
So, here’s my question: does anyone know if I’d be able to just give people these patterns for free without being sued, since I wouldn’t be making any money off them?
I’m fine with never letting people access the things I’ve created like this, but at the same time it would be nice to be able to share these patterns with people so they can make their own or edit them for their own purposes.
If anyone knows much about this, please let me know, and if you could let me know in the simplest of terms because I’m really not great with understanding much about copyright and trademarks and all that legal jargon. I find it all very difficult to grasp. I’ve also tried googling this but I can’t get the answer to my question, just about actually selling stuff and most of the stuff I come across still makes no sense to me.
