Elephants have been a part of Indian weddings for quite…
I was at a wedding, where Robert California from The Office was hitting on me the entire time, telling me to, “stop denying the chemistry between his lizard and I”.
My gay friend managed to distract him, and I ended up on a boat playing with some dachshunds.
i finally decided on the words i want to use to describe rope dart moves!
while the dart is being spun, the direction it's moving doesn't change much- it has a lot of momentum. so most of rope dart consists of moving one's body around the rope. the dart orbits in a fixed plane while the dartist dances about it. i want my terminology to reflect that.
so from now on, instead of saying "i'm in alley stance with a downspin" i will say "i'm facing the sunset/west." when i'm facing the sunset, the dart is spinning at my side in such a way that it comes down in front of me, like the setting sun.
instead of being "in alley stance with an upspin," i am "facing the sunrise/east," watching the dart rise up in front of me.
i would just use north and south for the two wall stance directions, but there's a problem: left-handed people exist. a left-handed dartist spins the rope with their left hand, so in order to do the same shot in wall stance, they need to be facing the other way relative to the spin of the dart. if i ever teach a rope dart class (which i desperately want to do) i will need one set of terms which make sense to everyone.
so instead of saying "i'm in wall stance spinning towards my anchor side" i'll say "i'm facing downhill." for righties like me this involves moving my right hand counter-clockwise and corresponds with the direction "south," while a leftie would spin clockwise and face "north." i know i'm facing downhill whenever the rope is traveling down as swings in front of me.
similarly, i'm "facing uphill" when the rope is moving up in front of me in wall stance, or being spun towards my lead side.
these terms will be used in all future rope dart... things... i create. i will still use "wall stance" and "alley stance" when relevant, but i should be able to save a lot of words, and hopefully train myself to understand rope dart in a truer way.
until next time, e'zi xalla!
