I'm going with 10 All Time Classics from the Captain America (MCU) fandom. I mean, they're all classics to me, at least. In no particular order:

1. This, You Protect by owlet

First installment in the Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail series, which are all amazing. It's a “Bucky escaping Hydra and rebuilding his sense of self” fic, which he does while spying on Steve. With eventual Avengers Family and a lovely cast of OCs bonding with Bucky in the meantime. It has a very distinctive perspective and writing style; Bucky's in constant internal (and sometimes accidentally external) dialogue with himself, making it hilarious and tragic all at the same time. I love it. I've recently been getting into The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells and this Bucky has a similar sassy-but-vulnerable vibe? Read this if you like that, anyway.

2. The One Who Knows by Dira Sudis (dsudis)

This is a Political Animals AU, in that no-powers Steve is inserted into the Political Animals world and Bucky is TJ. Discusses being outed and depression but is ultimately hopeful. The author is one of my all time faves and has written lots of great stories for this and many other fandoms.

3. Blue Scales by chaya

Steve is a merman AU. He's still Captain America, though. It's crack with heart, I love it.

Best line: "May your scales and your love story be our weird secret forever.”

4. Our Lingering Frost by eyres

AU where Bucky is rescued from Hydra in the 50s (?) and so is around for Steve to be found.

5. Assets Out of Containment by follow_the_sun

It's a classic to *me*, OK? Bucky goes undercover at Jurassic World just as that movie's plot kicks off. They're Hydra dinosaurs! It's just great. Also has a podfic and crossovers with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

6. Not Easily Conquered (series) by dropdeaddream and WhatAreFears

Some of the greatest fanfiction I've ever read, the whole series is epic. Anyway, it's a "Steve doesn't go into the ice" AU with added queer angst when (never sent) love letters from Bucky resurface. I particularly like the second installment in the series The Thirteen Letters, which are just Bucky's letters and are insanely well-written.

7. to memory now I can't recall by Etharei

Time travel AU! Featuring post-CATWS Bucky accidentally switching places with CATFA era Bucky.

8. If Wishing Made It So by Leveragehunters (Monkeygreen)

Genie!Bucky AU! This author is great at writing AUs with fantasy/genre elements, it was hard to choose. They've also written an excellent werewolf!Steve AU and a horse!Steve AU that I really love.

9. Into That Good Night by Nonymos

An Interstellar AU! Very angsty and tragic but with an eventual happy ending.

10. Goodbye Piccadilly, Farewell Leicester Square by Speranza

Speranza must be one of the best writers in the fandom, so it was hard to pick just one of their fics. Other strong contenders were All the Angels and the Saints and The Fifties, so check those out too! But this one has a special place in my heart. Steve, Tony and Natasha accidentally time travel to WW2 London, leading to an accidental run-in with CATFA-era Bucky. The author does tragic and romantic time travel tropes so well, but with a happy ending.

I now realise that most of these are AUs, so here’s a bonus rec for a non-AU in-universe story that’s severely underrated and deserves more love:

Heart, Have No Pity on this House of Bone by Sena

This story follows Bucky in-action in the Pacific Theatre. It’s very well written and, from what I can tell, well researched. Steve only appears in Bucky’s imagination and the story focuses on the horrors of war rather than romance, but it’s gripping! And it explores unrequited love, being closeted and period-typical homophobia, which I also enjoyed. I’m still holding out hope for a sequel.

My experience with Analog Horror/ARGs and why you should check them out

Marble Hornets: the classic, and a big favorite of mine for obvious reasons. I cannot stress enough how good and spooky that series is, and the ToTheArk videos gave me nightmares, love it! <3

If you're into Slenderman stories, you should definitely check it out. The acting is very well done and the story is awesome overall :)

The Sun Vanished: the ARG that started my interest for ARGs, and especially enigmas/internet puzzles. Unfortunately I was not smart enough to figure the stuff out by myself, so I just watched explanations on it. Highly recommended if you like post-apocalyptic settings and subtle horror.

The Mandela Catalogue: possibly the series that brought back my interest for these things. I have only watched the first two seasons of it, as I sadly lost interest after a while, but from what I have watched, I would recommend it to those of you who like horror with religious themes (which is a big thing for me) and most importantly, trust issues. Do keep in mind this series deals with more serious and dark topics, though you have probably heard it already.

Local58: the analog horror of all analog horrors, Local58 barged in before TMC took the spotlight. There is so much going on and all of it is very interesting and scary. America's pride leads to its doom, the moon can control electronic devices, and weird creatures spread through the world. If you like stories that leave you not understanding what the hell just happened but loving it anyway, you will love Local58.

Rocket Archives: A single-video series that has unfortunately been taken down for reasons I am not certain of. But if you're curious what it was about, the video presented a reality where us humans were forced to leave Earth with how hot it was getting, and moved to contained bubbles in space. Suddenly, uh oh! The sun's getting closer! Outer Wilds moment! Everything is melting! Humans are gone and the sun is... alive???

Analog Archives: made by the creator of Rocket Archives, has also been taken down but can still be found re-uploaded. The series is slightly similar to Local58, as in it also focuses on broadcast hijacking used for ending off humans. The series also includes a few religious topics that can get very dark. I love it. "Nature Show" makes me tear up with fear every time.

Gemini Home Entertainment: ALL-TIME FAVORITE MOMENT!!! I don't think I need to explain why I love this one so much. GHE leaves a lot to your imagination/speculation, while also twisting your head directly into the direction of the threat and forcing you to look at it while you squirm in fear. GHE is subtle in the most obvious way, obvious in the most subtle way, and most importantly, IT'S COSMIC HORROR, BABY!!! THERE IS A PLANET IN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM THAT GOT HERE UNINVITED AND NOW IT WANTS TO EAT US!!! UGHHHH I can't put in words why I think it's so good, it just is. Watch it. The Gardeners are cute, I swear. There's even a plush of them.

Monument Mythos: something something alternate realities, something something time loops. I have not watched all of it, barely even half, but I deemed it a little bit too confusing for my brain. BUT! If you're into things that boogle your mind, you might really like this series! I mean, world monuments are alive, what could be scarier?

Vita Carnis: EW. (affectionate)

But, seriously, if you like gross, you are certainly going to like this series. It's meat, and it's alive. Although, I did stop watching it because it got a tad too graphic and violent for my taste, but if that doesn't bother you, then I recommend it a lot! The editing is soooo good, and some of the creatures are very likable and cute ^v^ (the others are gross and I do not want them near me I do not WANT FUCK OFF)

Don't Look at the Moon: Minecraft spooky. Do I need to say more?

who wants to hear some fucked up crackpot headcanons. TOO LATE IM SHARING THEM NOW BOY!

some of these ive definitely already said before but they're going on here for the sake of categorization anyways. cw for uhhh body horror, parasites, emeto, cannibalism and necrosis, all the fun stuff you'd imagine go along with this

•after a certain point in dissonance overexposure his face literally just Melted Off. Gone. it's mostly just bandages, exposed muscle & scar tissue under there now which is why he kept the helmet on fulltime & wears a mask. he also used to have bleach blonde hair which he lost pretty much completely along with the face WHOOPS!

•speaking of that plague mask DOES NOT COME OFF! like, it's literally part of him at this point. it fused to his skin after a while of him constantly wearing it & then his skull grew out underneath it to fit it so that is quite literally just his face now. it's made of metal but he still has sensation in it like it's skin! it'll still bleed if you lash him across it hard enough. (if you decked him good enough in the center of the beak you would PROBABLY hear the disconcerting crunch of bone.) THIS IS ALSO THANKS TO DISSONANCE! HURRAY DISSONANCE!!!!

•his old anti-dissonance helmet also had some dull feeling in it, mostly towards the end of his career, though it was never able to get to the level of attachment that his current mask now has <3

•post-nexus he is constantly losing teeth and growing new ones in like a shark and it hurts like fuck and he basically has to teathe on shit like a dog sometimes to alleviate it. also in this vein his bite is INFECTIOUS like that's a given for any person but i think his especially would quite literally BURN from the very get. he has a super nasty bite bc his lips are just jagged metal so it can rip and tear like shit. coincidentally he is definitely not above biting people in combat and probably might even if he's already armed. Just for fun!

•actually in general i think he fights like a wild goddamn animal. he doesn't like guns (re: sucks dick at using them) and only likes melee bc it's *honorable" and Blades Pretty but he is QUICK o resort to biting, kicking, clawing, etc etc and he's damn good at it too. he's probably impaled someone through the head on that beak of his before. i would LOVE to animate how i imagine him to fight in the good ol fashioned style of Madness Combat: The Series About Animated Violence bc it's SUPER vivid to me

•his mouth will seal over & will have to rip itself open if he goes a while without using it. he's pretty much completely numb to it by now after so many times but it definitely catches other people off guard when he smiles or something of that nature i think

•hes super drooly. weird mouth situation and it's honestly probably a good mix of blood from his tooth situation/mouth constantly tearing itself apart

•i honestly dont think i even need to say this but he smells. Bad. like. as bad as youd anticipate a sewer zombie to smell, yk. it kind of sucks bc he USED to be like hyperaware of his own hygiene but after the facemelter incident that kinda gradually declined until he was. just okay enough with it to Live In The Sewers. sometimes he will have moments of self awareness where he can feel every inch of grime on his body and it makes him SICK TO HIS STOMACH so he tries his absolute best not to pay any mind to it

•after being enmeshed he is so full of maggots and flies and mold... and other such detritivores YUM!!! he lost a lot of feeling in his extremities bc a lot of nerves died off so he barely notices but sometimes he will catch one crawling up his shirt or something & hold it and maybe talk to it a little bit and admire it.....he likes bugs idt he minds to be frank <3 (well. he does and doesn't. similar deal to the general hygiene yk? really not much to be done about it anymore and if he thinks about it too hard he WILL freak out so it's best not to!)

•the fact that i color his saliva/internals that bright ass green is not just stylization for fun I do legit think this boy has glowstick blood. something to do with constantly handling other people's S-3LFs during enmeshment. i think he quite literally has fragments of countless people's souls stuck in his system & they often manifest as hallucinating random voices/people

•hes so stupid proud of himself for managing to come back as a zed and also. Inwardly a little horrified by it. his body definitely isn't up to full function like it used to be (it was already kinda deteriorating due to dissonance poisoning so ERM!) & if he isn't careful about when he eats he WILL just dull back into blind hunger and attack & eat the nearest person he can get his paws on! it's kinda scary to black out and lose control of yourself like that over something you almost never think about being a huge issue.... OF COURSE. not that he'd ever TELL anyone it scares him. GOD FORBID HE ADMIT HIS LINE OF SCIENCE IS KIND OF FUCKED UP!!!!

•he was also a cannibal before becoming a zed so the whole fact that he eats people now isn't really an issue and didn't . really change lol. NOT WHEN HE WAS A SCIENTIST but like. post nexus he Absolutely resorted to cannibalism almost concerningly quickly. HMM!

•he definitely makes stuff out of people bones too. you can't look at him and tell me he doesn't

•he's specifically become a swamp zed and sometimes he WILL have to physically hold himself back from throwing up as a stress/defensive response

•however, BECAUSE he's a swamp zed he's adapted to be semi-aquatic by now so he can hold his breath for a pretty good while & he's a REAL good swimmer! he has webbed paws and a strong ass salamander tail for this purpose

•he has very vivid nightmares almost every night and tries to avoid sleeping as much as possible due to this. this was something that started while he was still working for nexus due to dissonance exposure but it just got worse and worse and became ESPECIALLY bad following phobos's death. he'll push himself days and even weeks on end without sleeping until he quite literally passes out...

uhmmm probably forgot some i intended to add here but OH WELL! this post is already gigantic i can just make another one. I HAVE THOUGHTS!

I’m sorry you’re feeling so down about finding a community to write with. :( I’ve had some really similar struggles the past few years after moving to a new place—it’s SO HARD to know where to start (and unfortunately I’m still trying to figure it out, so this is more an ask to express sympathy than offer solutions).

uhhhh what DO I write. Well. In the spirit of Anne Boyer's Not Writing, currently:

I'm not writing a short story set in historical rural ireland which uses the tradition of lifting stones to explore themes about disability, masculinity, and (of course) transgenderism.

I'm not writing a two-person, one-room play called The Immortal Irishman which is about cowardice and trauma and the experience of living through Interesting Times.

I'm not writing a YA novel about a deeply closeted 17 year old figuring out she's queer during Ireland's 2015 marriage equality referendum. I particularly wish i was writing this one because I interviewed quite a few people who were queer teens not of voting age during the referendum & the experience fucking sucked. Plus, we're only a little over a year off All That being 10 years ago & wouldn't it be great to publish a book in time for that comemoration?

I'm not writing a post-post-apocalyptic coming of age/YA novel with the working title Whalefall about a small community living difficult lives in a harsh landscape, who are contacted by a "more developed" culture who want to "trade freely" with this community, and aren't like the old empires no sir we're sustainable now. Specifically this story follows the trainee doctor of this community, who would super love to have access to better healthcare technology, especially as she has a physical disability herself, but still can't quite trust these newcomers are as benevolent as they seem.

I'm not writing a short story or possibly novella about a haunted forest, a tween ghost, and a teenager from the city who doesn't really believe in ghosts but is in this situation anyway.

I'm not writing a BBC Being Human Season 3 Softer-and-kinder AU where Hal, Tom, and Annie get a year or two of peace and healing before the vampire prophesy shit kicks off, and Tom joins a parenting group at the nearby community centre.

I'm not writing the rest of my Good Omens/Daredevil crossover WIP, where Adam turns up.

I'm not writing a novel with the working title Slime Chunks which is about reconnecting with ur childhood best friend who has since got youtube famous. & she's now in legal trouble & possibly she did some very shady things, which should be unforgivable, except that you're realising with dawning horror that you would forgive her anything.

I'm not writing the rest of my Gilmore Girls series about Rory & Paris getting together while Rory figures out the whole pregnancy & motherhood thing, & Lane is being poly with her two husbands and many girlfriends in the background.

Those are the main things I'm not writing! There are other projects too, of course.

Really surprised to see people criticising the new TV show for its messaging (e.g. the Jobs episode overtly critiquing western work structures) when the YouTube episodes did... exactly the same thing?

Episode 1 (Creativity), Episode 3 (Love [read: religion]), 4 (Computers), and 5 (Food) were all commentaries on their subject matter. The fifth episode is the most obvious with its use of the "health shape" (versus the food pyramid) and the contradictory, confusing guidance on what food is "healthiest" to eat.

Episode 2 (Time) also kind of counts, but that's the more existential of the subjects, the overall point being to just not take time for granted because it moves on inexorably no matter what.

I think people get so lost in the theory-making with the YouTube shorts though that there's not enough focus given to the commentary happening in each individual episode. Nobody really talks about what Healthy was trying to achieve, fans instead obsess over Duck's image being on the food cans, the horror of Yellow Guy appearing to have eaten his friend, the fact Red is missing having had his mind blown in the previous episode... But on the surface, the creators are poking fun at the way food is advertised and talked about.

The behind-the-scenes narrative was something adopted by the fans, not really the true creative intent. I've always felt that, personally. And I think it's very telling that the creators didn't vibe with Wakey-Wakey if we keep that in mind. DHMIS on the surface has always been about commentating on current affairs (or topics that are prevalent in Western culture).

The reason it's difficult to pin down one single over-arching theory for the YouTube series is because each episode can exist independently, with the exception of episode 6. And the TV series repeats this. To put it simply, it feels a bit like a way of saying that the "lore" implications are a last thought, and not necessary to enjoy the series as a whole. If DHMIS wanted to expand its world and lore, it could have started with episode 6 and given us a very different series. What we got was how the YouTube series initially started but with a longer runtime per episode and more chance to the develop the three main characters. The extra set of stairs Yellow Guy misses before going back to his friends, however, feels like an invitation to keep theorising anyway, because it was the internet's obsessive need to find meaning in DHMIS that ultimately bought it its popularity.

But again, this then takes away from the "British-ness" of the series, which is really under-appreciated (and really being torn down by the loudest critics over here). I hope the series does well outside of fan interactions because as a jumping-in point for the uninitiated, it hits all the right beats for a quirky British comedy akin to The Mighty Boosh. It's just a little sad Channel 4 have parked it in an 11PM slot and right behind a Jimmy Carr-led panel show...

But yeah... YouTube's Episode 5 beats the audience over the head with its message just as much as Jobs does... The format is very similar too - even so far as Duck's discomfort with the subject matter that is being taught via the song not matching up with what is actually happening. He is the only one in Jobs to resist whilst Yellow Guy gets caught up (as he did in the YouTube episode) and Red Guy is for the most part, MIA (out in the "real world", playing his part as the company's manager).

The only key difference between the YouTube shorts and the Channel 4 programme is that, with a 23-minute run-time, the songs can't take up the entire episode and so as a consequence they aren't the most iconic takeaways.

What we've lost in quirky musical format, we've gained in character and relationship development for the trio though, and I'd argue that's not such a bad trade-off...

a decade later sure i'll put it into Text Post "tumblr user claims: plausibly may feasibly" form, starting with these classic screenshots i still have saved

this being dialogue from 2015's always watching: a marble hornets story, which is like hey this is a pretty well produced indie venture & you can sure like sit through it even if you then never watch it again b/c it's still kind of overly on the beaten path & "i'm not sure this choice is justified in much of anything" (see: bizarrely omnipresent thread of a love triangle just to be There; typical Mental Patient(tm) Harbinger; several real marked More Is Less instances arguably) that is still a better time than other random horror material i've seen & hated vs. only mostly been underwhelmed by but in an Overall Shrug way alone. yeah imdb's 4.7 out of 10 seems fair enough if you consider like 5 stars truly middle of the road solid if forgettable vs that anything < 7 stars is for [Bad!] or whatever

anyways the main character is named milo & indeed the creator(s) / actors / writers troy joseph & tim were involved in the production at all: tim at least by being the first step in doug jones's casting by reaching out directly (online), but troy & joseph also via Some writing, like in that slender game sequel also: not the Primary creators / writers, but still officially involved in the creative process at all. & i knew of them & they knew of me by this time & in a [source: dude just trust me] style of way, i, a tumblr user, am like "i think milo alwayswatching Could be named after me, milo unproduciblesmackdown. lol." b/c also like yeah i can take it on the chin if it's a coincidence, which is also likely. great name & it's just not being used enough in fictional & nonfictional people's names. you might also be aware that some role in tribetweIve is named milo (maybe the main guy. i never watched it) so you might also speculate it's named after that guy, which seems plausible also, But: afaik there are no other similar plausible shoutouts at all, to that series or to emh which was just as majorly like One Of Those 3 Biggest Online Series. may or may not add a grain of salt to take it with. like my own "of course, there's a grain of salt in 'milo just like me milo, and Uncoincidentally?' b/c how wouldn't there be. a name people have"

the dude just trust me argument: distilling it down to "i went to their first convention & then the same one the next year, & in these experiences i Know they knew of me from that + also online, where people knew my name was milo as well" and "it seems feasible enough it's an easter egg Not Coincidence that i first knew this character's name happened to also be milo b/c someone who experienced a clip sent me an ask about it, so they assumed it was a possible actual connection too lol." and, of course, it might be a fun coincidence after all. but i'm still like "yeah no it Could be a funny little shoutout to me specifically for real" and mean it and, again, i can endure it if i'm completely wrong. b/c who could care, and also b/c it's so funny that the character is a guy who basically just is like "i am going to have a bad attitude. b/c of the insistent tiresome love triangle thing. well now I'm insistently tiresome" and fucking everything up but like, sure. exasperating epic fail protagonists

the only relevance i think it has besides "to me, b/c i can go haha yeah. that might be like: just like me!!" is that it's Also plausible b/c yeah marble hornets Is the kind of series that might go "this could be an easter egg about some queer autistic tumblr user we know about" lmao, its Inherent Queerness both re: the material and in the creators' knowledge like yep that's how our Appreciators skew! like it's low stakes to be like [lol, Me. perhaps] b/c it's obviously of zero importance like it adds no info, i'm just some rando queer fan from back in the day, but it's this potential Fun Fact that's funny to know & it's about "yeah like they knew i was trans back then too & that it was like, amidst the MH Fans, like nobody's cishet man (shaggy rogers voice)" Gay Rights!

my mbti is intp. I'm a very shy and reserved person in public, I try not to cause too much attention but also express myself openly. I suffer from anxiety ( I don't take meds or anything so I'm usually on edge) and overthink about people/other things. If you get to know me, im a huge extrovert and cheerful person. I love making jokes and laughing <3 I'm airheaded and clumsy. I'm a very random person too, more eccentric for sure. Top 5 MP100 arcs (WARNING- SPOILERS!!)

5. Teruki Hanazawa arc, the reveal of ???% and just the general conflicting morals between the 2 were really great.... looking back on it now it's crazy to me how that was what Teru used to be like, now he's just so much more of a protagonist than he ever intended to be.... anyways, loved the humor, loved the story, and the art was wonderful as always!!

4. World Domination arc, while it might have been pretty similar to your stereotypical Shonen at times, the way it was done was great and didn't feel too overused. Honestly, Reigen, Dimple and of course Serizawa felt like the MVPS, plus my boy Mob, and his feelings and the fight with Toichiro were great... it was also nice to see all the other characters from the past participating! Shoutout to the Teru vs Shimazaki fight because that was AWESOME and the animation for the anime version was SO GOOD.

3. Divine Tree arc. During the whole arc, I felt this increasing sense of dread, and honestly I found myself crying during multiple parts near the end of it. I adored the development of Dimple along with Teru and Mob's fight, there was just something about this arc that made me go AAAAH. Art beautiful and made me terrified. Story great. Also I cried like a bitch at Dimple's death despite having already been spoiled he was going to die, and then not die.

2. ???% Arc, I could NOT have thought of a more perfect ending to the series. I reread the manga version and I will admit it was better than the anime, especially with the Shigeo-Mob dialogue. I was so terrified during this whole thing and the characterisation of Shigeo was perfect. Highlights would probably be the thing with Teru because oh my GOD the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! THE HORROR ON HIS FACE! I LOVE MY BOY! as well as of course the shigeo mob interactions, accept yourself boy! But of course, my favourite part was... Reigen. Firstly oh my god, the taking off shoes... I've listened to Rolling Girl enough times to know what that means... but then also the way he speaks and the helplessness he feels? And Shigeo just rejecting him.... but then my fucking boy DIMPLE JUST COMES BACK AND POSSESSES HIM?? I SCREAMED DESPITE ALREADY KNOWING HE WAS ALIVE. THE ANIMATION IN THE ANIME AT THIS PART WAS SO GOOD. And Reigen's Confession of his lies and how he's a fraud... just... God I cried so much. Shigeo's shock that he admits it snapping him out of the ???% state was incredible. I love my boys. I love this arc.

Hinata Hyuuga

I started Naruto when I was 10-11 years old and that was the period of time when I began to lack of confidence and I began to be pretty introverted. And well, I was relating so much to Hinata so I immediately got attached to her. Also I grew up with her in a way, and seeing her becoming more confident and strong, while still being very empathic and sweet, she became like a model to follow in my eyes. It's really one of the character who had the most impact for me so yeah, Hinata will always be Best Girl to me <3

Natsume Takashi

Natsume Yuujinchou is my favourite anime, especially because of this sweetheart. I’m very moved by empathic character (you’re gonna notice it with the charac I’ll pick lol). Natsume has such a sensitive and sweet personality, I loved him instantly tbh. Also, the fact that he is careful to not get too close because he fears to bother them or to get hurt...well, I totally understand that feeling ;; And seeing him being more open little by little, and warming up to people, it makes me feel happy, so yeah, it’s a character that makes me feel good and warm inside =v=

Makoto Tachibana

I think everyone following my blog is aware of my love for him xD What can I say more. Makoto is THE friend everyone would like to have ; he is a sweetheart, he is adorable, he is caring toward his family and friends and he is the best to comfort people. Simply, he makes people happy, putting the others before himself sometimes (#protecttheboy), and really you cannot see this guy and not feel the need to smile back at him <33 this boy needs to be loved as much he loves people, so here, TAKE MY ALL MY LOVE MAKOGOD <3

Tifa Lockhart

My beautiful, strong, confident, sensitive and caring girl <3 I think Tifa is an amazing female character. I love her personality so much and even though she can kick ass, she is still a pretty calm and sweet. She is confident but humble, strong but adorable, sensitive but sassy when it needs. I really love all those sides of her <3 also she is one of the reason that made me realize that I wasn’t that much straight XDDD

Fai D Flowright

He is the first character that made me turn into protective mode (;v;) He is such a tragic character, and despite all the pain and horror he went through, he is still such a lovely man who just wants to take care of his loved ones. He suffered so much but he has still love to give...even though he doesn’t love himself ;o; I swear I just wanted to jump in the manga each time to hug him and comfort him. Yes he is funny, and cool and beautiful, but that’s definitely his fragile side that made me appreciate him even more.

Clear

I started playing Dmmd for the gay boys...I ended it by getting a son to protect. Clear is a kinda a mix of everything I fall for : empathic, sweet, strong and a bit unconfident. But also he is SO INNOCENT, SO PURE!!! he has this childish innocence that makes me melt all the time ;v; so when the angst came, I just cried for him. I don’t know how much tears I cried because of him, his story touched my heart so much and he deserves only happiness ;; also, he sings (yes this is a very good reason to love him too xD). Anyway, I love this angel so much <3

Tomoyo Daidouji

She wasn’t immediately one of my favorite girl. I appreciated her kindness, the fact she was always so caring toward her friends but also her fun side, like being a kind of groupie of Sakura xD it’s when I finished to read all the manga when I was older that I realized that she was such an amazing character. Without spoiling, she is definitely the type to sacrifice her own needs as long as the people she loves are happy. She’ll be happy either way, without any resentment or regrets. And I think that’s something to admire. Also...she can sing xDD

Mihashi Ren

My maternal side activated at the sight of this baby boy. I was older when I began Oofuri, so I was less shy, still pretty unconfident but I was hiding my anxiety inside all the time. But Mihashi was expressing his anxiety through his expressions and his acts. And when I saw him I was like “yep, it’s my inside-self personalized there”, that no one can’t really see. So obviously, I’ve been right away attached to this character since I was relating to his social struggles and his lack of confidence. But the most important fact is that Mihashi is always doing his best, and he tries to be better all the time, fighting against his anxiety and trying to believe the words of people who praise him. He is so inspiring to me ; more than just seeing myself in him at that time, he became a character that gave me the desire to control better my anxiety as well ;v;

Levi Ackerman

Ok Levi is a bit different of all my previous crush characters ;) I’m gonna admit, I first liked him because he was such a too cool charac xDD loved his design, his sort of grumpy personality, his badass side too etc...but through the chapter, we all discovered a protective and sensitive side of him <3 I also love so much his honesty ; he assumes his beliefs and won’t hesitate to shake a bit people for their own good. He is also very smart and combined to his agility skills, he is such an amazing fighter, and he never hesitated to put his own life in danger to protect others. But he has a violent and controversial side due to all the trauma he went through, so that makes him even more complex. And that’s why I think he’s the best charac of snk, and also one of the charac I love the most~

My reason to love her is kinda close to Levi’s. She appeared at first as cold and determined but she is much more complex. Through the manga, it becomes clear that she is a broken person with depression and PTSD who find a reason to keep living when she fell in love with Roy. She is ready to do anything for him to fulfill his dream even though she will have to give up to a part of her humanity (but also femininity). She is such a selfless character and basically she is following her heart. And for a character that appears strict, it’s such an adorable and touching side of her. And this sweet side appears from time to time, when she adopts her lil doggy or when her fragility breaks through the shell in some situations. I will end with obvious point too like, she gorgeous and strong, so yep, an amazing lady indeed ;)

I'm playing Bloodborne now so-

Okay: I'll actually admit, when it comes to the Souls games? I don't actually know what the fuck is going on, I'm just this guy:

BUT since I just played the Prime games beforehand I want to talk about something I love about the Souls games; that being the inspiration they take from the Metroid Prime Series in terms of design philosophy, level design, and world building.

Sure, there’s a lot more obvious inspirations in play with the Souls games. The Gothic horror stylings of Castlevania as well as the RPG mechanics of SOTN-style Castlevania is a big one, European fantasy as a whole (iirc Miyazaki is a huge European fantasy nerd), Berserk, and some other stuff I'm not as familiar with are the clear inspirations in terms of themes and style of the games. The gameplay and combat is notably 3D Zelda inspired, albeit taking everything that OOT pioneered and making it slower and more deliberate while placing a higher emphasis on using your movement and dodging.

So where does Metroid Prime come in?

Well, the most obvious place to start is in pointing out the map of Dark Souls 1: Heavily interconnected, looping around on itself with an emphasis on finding and unlocking shortcuts that further connect the areas you explore to the rest of the world.

You are given a few distinct goals, but not the path to get there. The world, through various barriers, naturally leads you down the critical path.

In Metroid Prime, this is accomplished with an abundance of locked doors and ability gates. Through some ingenuity by the player (and heavily frowned upon by the devs), you can do some tricks to break out of the critical path in order to take different paths, such as grabbing Space Jump first.

In Dark Souls, while locked doors do play a part in the path, the idea of the player being able to break from the "intended path" is intentionally expanded upon; Weapon level, and your soul level form the largest combined "ability gate" in the early game but player skill can overcome both, a few early keys can be bought or alternate, harder routes can be found around doors while still breaking from "intended" progression. And the Master Key you can start with as a gift opens up even more routes to take!

This 3D Metroidvania-esque world design heavy in backtracking and in linking all of the world together was pioneered by Metroid Prime and used to incredible effect in Dark Souls. But that isn't the only similarity.

Isolation is used to great effect in the Souls games; while you have a handful of allies and shopkeepers, the world at large is entirely hostile to your presence. Many of your alliances are temporary or fleeting, several NPCs untrustworthy, and many friends you make slowly losing their battles with the world over the course of the game as you end up more alone than you started.

The world tells its story as well, both in the gorgeously detailed environments as well as the small scraps of information you can glean from everything you pick up; while you may not have a scan visor, the items enemies drop can similarly give you information about their place in the larger world and it can all be put together to form an incomplete picture of what happened, why you're here, and what you're really doing.

Huge bosses that take up most of the screen are the norm, your only places of respite being your save points, etc. Etc.

I could go on. It's just neat to talk about tbh.

Anyway the funny thing I noticed is that the changes in world design philosophy in the numbered Dark Souls games mirror the changes in world design philosophy in the Metroid Prime games too, going from:

1. An interconnected and backtracking heavy world that winds around on itself

2. A central hub branching out in multiple directions to progress through, with each branch terminating in a dead end

3. A linear progression of areas where each area is to be fully or mostly explored to the end before moving on to the next one.

It's kind of funny.

Personally I'm not bothered if something's ends up being kind of standard MCU stuff if it's good MCU stuff. I'm not expecting like an art house movie. I'll watch something else if I want that. I just want the standard MCU stuff to at least be good.

Yeah, I hope you don't mind anon that I'm going to use this ask as a bit of an excuse to talk about how frustrated I am by the responses to Marvel criticism lately.

I'm so annoyed by the way people just immediately dismiss any arguments by being like 'uh it's not that deep, what were you expecting, an arthouse film, this isn't A24'. Like. Yeah. I know that. But I'm still allowed to want the blockbuster action/adventure movie to like...be good? Or fun, at least? And they just...haven't been, for me, lately. I think I'm fairly judging them against similar genre films. Like, I liked the first Doctor Strange a lot better than this one. I liked most of phases 1-3 a lot more than phase 4. I feel like we're being asked to accept more and more mediocre content as the best thing ever just because it's the latest MCU entry.

This also gets into the 'let people enjoy things!' argument and I agree, if the situation is someone posting about enjoying a movie or show, and you're coming onto their post or comments section and being like 'uh, it was trash' sure, let people enjoy things how they want, leave them be. But I'm increasingly seeing people having valid critiques be utterly dismissed with this 'how dare you not let people enjoy things.' Pointing out that there was a lot of unnecessary exposition that dragged down the pacing and that the themes were confused and not ever properly developed is not impacting someone else's enjoyment of it. That's just how film critique works? And it's not 'betraying' or hurting the cast, crew, or studio? I've started to see that dismissal as well, like 'oh you can't say that, people worked really hard on this.' I'm sure they did, but that doesn't mean that there aren't parts that went wrong, or the movie as a whole wasn't very good.

This is also like...a billion dollar-studio with a near-monopoly on the industry. I'm not sure why some fans feel like they need to defend it with such a passion from like...tiktokers and bloggers with less than a thousand followers.

I also think it's kind of interesting how reviewers have started to get preemptively defensive about their positions. I'm finding it interesting to watch Tiktoks that are like 'I felt like MoM fell short in x, y, z ways, I wasn't really a fan of these things, this could have been done better....I STILL LOVED IT.' And on the one hand sure, you can love something and still point out the ways that it fell short. But it does feel like these people are really ranking it like, mid-tier at best and yet still have to add in that they 'loved' it. Maybe I'm off-base there. But those tiktoks have felt...defensive...

Anyway. This is probably kind of rambling. I hope it makes sense. The tldr is I'm getting increasingly annoyed with the way that any critique of an MCU film is dismissed with this attitude of like 'well, what were you expecting, an arthouse film?'

(Or: "you had too high expectations, you all just hate it because you wanted a thousand cameos!" I wanted less cameos. And I wanted the cameos to make sense. And also I had the level of expectations the trailers, promotional material, and previous films set me up for, I do not see why I should adjust my expectations to accept movies that I didn't enjoy?)

Final Aside:

I also think, as someone who also does like auteur cinema and horror, that I would prefer to have the MCU be kind of standardized in its style because, well...I don't really like Sam Raimi. I know the Evil Dead series is super popular, but yeah. I've never liked it that much. I don't really like his horror style. And having it sort of shoehorned into a serialized story, that the viewer kind of has to watch to figure out the story...it's kind of annoying. Because I just wouldn't watch Sam Raimi films normally. But I felt like I had to, because of the serialized nature of the MCU narrative.

(Honestly, I actually would have preferred Scott Derrickson keep the reins and be let loose with the horror elements, because I really like Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose isn't perfect but I like how moody it was. But again, that's a personal preference that not everyone would agree with and it kind of sucks that the way the MCU is structured now, you have to watch all the movies to get the story. Like, if Doctor Strange had been able to have a standalone film in the same way that the earlier phase films could be watched on their own, there would be room for a full horror Doctor Strange or even I saw a tiktok suggesting that it would be a fun experiment to have like, arthouse-style character study short films set in the MCU but like...it feels like it's all such a mess right now.)

Ok, I did like some Raimi-characteristic shots. I liked the montage of Wanda's spell with the guitar riff in the score. And I liked Wanda's fourth wall break when she finally took over other!Wanda. But the Bruce Campbell cameo made me roll my eyes.

Donna Hayward

Ok so the thing is I AM into Twin Peaks but it's been a while since I've seen it and I tried to watch The Return but I was too stupit to understand much less enjoy it :( sowwy. So I would be dating my own flawed incomplete interpretation of a person, really. Typical Twin Peaks.

Anyways I love Donna! I think we have similar personalities and stuff. In all brutal honesty I think if I were in her situation with a friend like Laura I’d have done similar things. Also yeah maybe her actions did lead a man to suicide but that was NOT her fault. I think the only three things that would prevent an attempt at a relationship here are

1) The obvious. Her taste in men = atrocious. In all the rest of these hypotheticals where the character is already canonically in a relationship or has feelings for another character I’m just like yeah the more the merrier but if Donna insists on inviting her insufferable ass boyfriend into the mix I could NOT fucking do it I’m sorry.

2) This girl is not ready for a relationship yet after All That god damn. But then again neither am I so maybe that balances out. We would need to spend some time as support group buddies just hugging and crying a lot before even considering a date.

3) It is unlikely we would ever interact as I am never setting foot in that town ever in my life are you kidding me. Donna is super pretty in both her incarnations but I’m sorry I don’t think any pussy pops severely enough for me to risk going to fucking doorknob hell or some shit.

Dale Cooper

Ignore everything I said in that last paragraph. I change my mind. I forgot my beautiful autism creature husband is here. I would risk it all for a date with Dale Cooper and so would all who know and perceive the truth. AND he’s got two hot girlfriends with him at least one of whom is ALSO an autism creature??? Sign me the FUCK up for this polycule IMMEDIATELY. “Oh but OP what about the horrors” I don’t even fucking care it’s fine. Dale can have little an evil doppelganger. As a treat.

Still there are some problems:

1) Dale is an FBI agent and Harry is a cop. Booooooo!!!! But maybe if Annie and Caroline and I unionize we can force them to quit their jobs.

2) Unclear if I would be forced to join the Black Lodge Horror Vision Rotation along with Annie and Caroline. Boring and time consuming task and unlike Laura you don’t even get to do a Big Scream.

3) I personally actually don’t like pie or coffee at all :( I’m sorry babygirl I understand if this is a deal breaker.

Trapper McIntyre

You know that “golden retriever boyfriend” joke? Trapper is like THE golden retriever boyfriend to me. Which I mean as an absolute compliment! Golden retrievers are friendly, helpful, adorable, lovable dogs. I am always up to pet a golden retriever.

But the thing is, I would never get one myself. They’re just a bit too big, bit too much energy, bit too messy, and anyways I prefer cats. No hate, no judgment, just a series of tiny preferences. Not into jocks, not into casual no-strings-attached type relationships, not super into kids, you know how it is. Boring and petty answer but I just feel like this adorable happy-go-lucky goldie deserves the PERFECT forever home and obviously he’s one of the most popular of all the dogs at the Mashblr shelter so I know he’ll get adopted super fast. So I can turn my attention to the miserable ass overbred old cat in the corner <3

Hawkeye Pierce

Oh, Hawkeye. I just don’t think so. Idk what’s wrong with me but I have to work to see Hawkeye as like. A dateable entity in my mind. He’s our little scrunkly! It’d be weird to date a scrunkly. BUT maybe I’ve just been overexposed to him purely by dint of being in the fandom he’s the main character of, because objectively I DO find Mr. Alda’s portrayal of him in certain scenes to be Attractive (TM), and seeing clips of his charisma and charm and humor and all that good handsome stuff is literally what got me to check out the show in the first place! Man. What happened. Hmm.

I think one issue is that scenes where he’s explicitly trying to be Romantic and/or Seductive have just never done it for me. Like comparing Hawkeye’s lovey scenes with Kyung Soon to Charles’ with Martine, there’s no contest in how they make me feel. To me, Hawkeye is honestly at his most appealing when he’s radiating Friend Energy, which is why his casual relationships actually work really well IMO; you feel like he’s truly a great pal to the nurses he hooks up with. This is also, I think, one of Piercintyre’s great strengths as a ship, because Hawkeye and Trapper both have amazing Friend Energy and then their natural compatibility makes that bleed seamlessly into sweet romantic vibes. And to be clear I would LOVE to be in a Friends To Lovers relationship too but unfortunately I am cringely obsessed with loveydovey romance in a way I’m not sure Hawkeye is even capable of. Plus there’s also just the fact that I’m a shy waiting til marriage person and I suck at banter and yeah it’s just not working. In conclusion neither Hawkeye nor Trapper should date me they should date each other!! But we knew that :P

Like fuck. My dudes. We’ve done it. We found the one villain who actually does do a complete 180 and starts trying to act right as soon as a girl takes pity on him enough to look at him twice. Like even though objectively the way he nukes his relationship with Martine was hurtful to both of them, he’s so Tender the whole time it’s insane. Can you give more details about your lapis comic? Like what time is it set in or is it an au or a rewrite? I'm sory I'm just curios 😔 it's really fun seeing your occasional posts about it

omg yes ofc thank u so much for asking 🥺🥺🥺 YEAH so its basically intended to just fill in what I would consider as a missing arc for lapis, everything in it is written so that it could believably have happened in the show offscreen similar to how other series spinoff comics have done things. Its not an au and not intended to be a rewrite, I'm doing my best to just expand on her character in a way I think was implied in the show but was never fully fleshed out (imo). I have a prologue that takes place right before Super Watermelon Island, then parts 1 thru 4 take place between seasons 3 and 5 and I have an epilogue that takes place a month after Change Your Mind. Hopefully the end result fits decently within the narrative of the show without too much suspending of disbelief necessary. Also gonna fill in missing development with her and Peridot obviously.

I'm writing it with the intention of it being a psychological horror while not being jarring different toneally from the show aha. I've actually been going out of my way to watch and read more surreal and psych horror based media to try and get more creative with it, its been a good way to get myself to finally pick things up that I've been putting off looking into! The horror elements are definitely secondary to keeping things feeling natural within the universe and I'm not introducing anything that would feel absurdly out of place (at least I hope not!) I would say the peaks are maybe equivalent in tone to Keeping It Together with maybe sometimes veering a little darker but nothing crazy.

ANYWAYS I'm hoping that I'm not overwhelming myself haha, I'm being really careful about how much I'm public about before I at the very least have everything completely scripted because I know from personal experience that jumping the gun on starting huge comic projects before you're prepared can quickly lead to a ton of stress and burnout. The comic has a title and each part has a thematic name but I'm gonna wait until everything is more solid before I actually say what it's called lol, its just another way to keep some pressure off myself until I feel like I'm ready. I am working on making a set of pages for a scene that I really wanted to see visualized so I can feel out the style and look that I'm going for and once I'm done I'm gonna post em here! I'm probably gonna release it one part at a time but I'm gonna wait until I at the very least have everything sketched before I go that far, once I'm ready I'm gonna make a little neocities website to host all the pages on ^__^

Ok sorry this is kinda going on for a long time, I wanted to be a little more specific but there's like a lot I wanted to cover LOL I really the commentary and interactions people have with my art esp anything having to do with this project 🥺 staying motivated with big projects can be really tough especially with things like comics and I don't wanna expect too much out of myself but people interacting with my art on here has really put me in good spirits about creation and I'm really excited to share everything one day <3 if anyone ever has any other questions abt it u r very encouraged to ask i love to talk about my projects

Wow! So I’ve never read Werewolf By Night and honestly I think my only knowledge of him is just the fact that Moon Knight debuted in his solo series. I loved the Werewolf By Night Disney+ special which sparked some interest in reading more about the character. So I started with Jack Russell’s (still laugh at his name) debut in Marvel Spotlight #2! I then read #3. Btw I found a Marvel reading order that chronicles all the Marvel comics starting with Fantastic Four #1 and onward. I told you guys that I made a list of mystic/supernatural/horror characters that I wanted to explore more of and spent most of last night coordinating with the reading order and their appearances to make a list of comics to read (there’s a lot btw). Anyways, so my list of comics to read started with Marvel Spotlight #2-3. I LOVED Werewolf’s debut! I couldn’t put it down. I loved how much dialogue and text description in the 28 page comic. It felt like I was reading something more akin to a short graphic novel than a comic book if that makes any sense. This really felt like a book with pictures lol. I totally get why a lot of comic readers today would absolutely hate this issue because of the word count (that’s why I’ve heard people hate Bendis. Just between you and me, he’s one of my favorite writers.) but for me I was engrossed even more with the amount of reading I had to do! It felt like a great universal monsters movie mixed with some pulpy action. Also just to add some context, my favorite Universal Monsters movie is Wolf-Man so I’m an easy lay here, I’ll admit. There’s even a mention of Lon Chaney Jr. which made me grin, not gonna lie. If I had to voice a nitpick and this goes for a lot of comics from this era, I hate the whole “he’s wearing a mask thing” it’s like really you can’t see that this dude is clearly a werewolf? But again, I think it’s just a sign of that era. So like I said with my Morbius posts, I’m a sucker for a tragic character and Jack Russell is similar to Michael but less villainous in these first two issues. Jack has the wolf genetics from his father and once he turned eighteen he started transforming into a werewolf every full moon. I like that there’s a physical struggle (that Jack has less control over) with Jack and the wolf but also a mental struggle between himself and his wolf-self. It just works so well. I also noticed right away that these issues mention the word “kill” and even show people dying a lot more than the Strange and Spidey comics I’ve made posts about. I wonder if because this is a horror comic, if they were free to show more death and killing? The comics authority were still around and they were sticklers for pretty much anything which often is why some comics are just really bad because they had to be careful about what content they showed. Jack’s mother dying immediately made me care more for the character but I’m biased because of my own personal loss (my mother) probably. I’m curious because the comic went back and forth between his stepdad being responsible for the death of his mother so I hope they give more of a confirmation at some point. Jack killing the man who killed his mother worked for me. I’m also a sucker for great anti-heroes and Jack fills that bill too. I think anti-heroes are probably more realistic than the straight up good guys but that doesn’t mean I don’t like heroes. So yeah I loved Marvel Spotlight #2.

So getting to Marvel Spotlight #3, I gotta say while I enjoyed it this was definitely less enjoyable for me than Jack’s initial debut issue in #2. We have a classic horror trope with a right-hand bad guy named Kraig very reminiscent of Igor but here more of a physical threat. At first I thought Kraig was Frankenstein’s Monster but just turned out to be a metal-handed heavy named Kraig. Jack gets tricked by Nathan Timly one of his “dad’s friends” and is chained in a dark room by Nate and his wife Andrea. Andrea had hair like Bride of Frankenstein which I liked. I do enjoy the various references to Universal Monster movies. One of my favorite moments is when Kraig loses his cool and kills Nate. It’s a very dark moment and I was surprised to see it happen in a Marvel comic from this era (it’d be different nowadays). I did feel for Kraig, he thinks Nate and Andrea are going to give him his hand back if he follows their directions. But sadly I think any reader knows that’s not going to happen. The whole time they have Jack they interrogate him because they want a book called the “Darkhold” (I was very excited when it was mentioned!). Anyways I liked the final fight between Kraig and Jack (great art throughout!) and how it ended with Kraig getting struck by lightning after he holds his hand in the sky. Brutal death. Then from what I can gather, Andrea is killed for trying to use spells without the Darkhold? I might be wrong about that. I gotta say I like when Jack is in and out of consciousness he thinks he sees a female figure in the distance and the way Mike Ploog drew her silhouette with a storm in the background was just great. Loved it. Overall I enjoyed the issue and can’t wait to explore more of Werewolf By Night!

Apologies for going off-fixation lol - to make up for it tell me more about Chrysi and her new bf 👀👀

AAHHHH, I HAVE! SO MANY THOUGHTS!!! My apologies if this is all over the place because... Mordred, my beloved.

So at the end of the series, Mordred ends up being exiled from Camelot (which... fair. It was very merciful that he wasn't killed in the end), so he goes to the island of Avalon, where a lot of other exiled witches live. Most of them are women, and so Mordred becomes their protector of sorts.

Chrysi ends up there for reasons I haven't totally figured out, but I want her to have been essentially kicked out from her own kingdom by her sister after she, uh, accidentally brought back all the dead from a graveyard. Oops.

She and Mordred get along. She makes him laugh and he's intrigued by her, and she thinks he's cute! And smart! But she doesn't let herself like him because she knows he's still not over this other girl (she didn't know the other girl was Queen Guinevere, but that's neither here nor there. Yet.)

Obviously they grow closer as they live side by side in Avalon. All the other witches and girls there love Chrysi, and they all think Mordred should start pursuing her instead of still being caught up on Guinevere (what is it with Chrysi and her men with fixations on their past relationships <//3 she has to break them in like a wild horse). During this time, Chrysi quickly gains a reputation for being clumsy / bad with magic. Every time she tries something new, something will explode. All the time. (Mordred’s all like “So what was it that got you kicked from your old place? Too many blown-up torches?” “I brought a legion of the dead back to life on accident” “Oh.” He’s still not sure if she was joking.)

Eventually, I want there to be a horror aspect, similar to magical / supernatural zombies showing up. Chrysi’s the only one that knows how to take care of them, so she… essentially tears them apart and sends them back into the ground headfirst (so they can’t scratch their way up). Ten she makes new protections around Avalon and Mordred’s like “Wow… soulmate right there? Wow!!!”

Buuuut unfortunately, these creatures showing up means Chrysi has to go back to her home kingdom and make sure her sister isn’t doing everything Chrysi told her not to. Spoiler alert: she is.

Anyway, Chrysi tries to sneak out of Avalon in the middle of the night, only for Mordred to be at her back door when she’s heading out. Chrysi just barely manages to avoid cursing him out, fortunately.

Turns out Mordred guessed what she was doing because for the past couple days, she’d been going around and giving ppl some gifts and being all grateful to them for taking her in and all—and he rightfully guessed she was trying to leave. Well, too bad, because now he’s pledged himself as her knight and she has to take him with her. Excellent.

Chrysi doesn’t really want to argue with him (though they do. They do argue quite a bit.), so she ends up bringing him along. It’s handy to have someone that can talk to animals (which btw!! Mordred can commune with animals! It makes me all fluttery inside + you know Chrysi’s annoying him with “Can you speak to my cats? Can you tell them I love them? Please? Pretty please?”) and someone that’s half-fairy and also can do magic. I love them together.

So they set out to the coast, where Chrysi hopes to catch a ship (Mordred… does not like the ocean all that much, I choose to believe. I like to also believe that he gets somewhat seasick. All because of a throwaway line in the book.). Along the way, Mordred teaches her how to fight. He quickly finds her to be really good (not as good as him, but that’s alright—she’s best with a quarter staff and he can tell she might be his equal with that weapon) and he also finds her to be?? Really scary with a bow and arrow? Okay, he’s handing over his heart already, she’s earned it.

They get very… close on this journey. Lots of them sleeping close for “warmth”, then intermittently waking up to watch the other sleep and marvel at how pretty they are. Anyway, they aren’t in love. (Keep telling yourselves that.)

When they get to Chrysi’s kingdom, Mordred finds Chrysi’s essentially a princess (what the fuck!!!) and also a feared and powerful magic being—occasionally called “Death’s Bride”, “Angel of the Crossroads”, “Queen of Nightmares”… Mordred’s like “Who the FUCK have I been traveling with?? And kissing?? HUH???”

He also meets Jacks, who is obviously in this universe because I love how dedicated Jacks is to Chrysi even when they aren’t together, and he decides it will be very funny to irritate Jacks from then on out.

This is where drama happens and, while I have many scenes planned, most of them aren’t coherently linked together. There’s lots of the undead coming back and eating ppl, lots of ghouls, but Chrysi pretty easily takes them down. Her main concern is who is causing all this?? She can only stop the symptoms, but she’s not able to discern the root of the issue—which bugs her.

To add to her issue with tracking down what’s causing all this, her older sister is deliberately making things more difficult for her. Lots of political intrigue happens at the same time, and Mordred’s suddenly really glad he made himself Chrysi’s knight bc he can be with her all the time. Jacks is also trying to be around Chrysi all the time and he finds Mordred’s presence really fucking annoying. It’s awesome.

OH, ALSO! This kingdom is full of magic, in direct contrast to Camelot. Mordred’s actually… really fascinated by it. Chrysi likes showing him all her favorite places (a hallway where all the walls and ceilings and floors are made of stained glass, her cave garden that her brother kept up while she was gone, the springs that are inside the castle with a waterfall coming in from the top to keep the water levels up… Mordred thinks he loves it here.)

I really enjoy them…

OH, ALSO I HAVE A MODERN AU WHERE THEY’RE DUMB COLLEGE STUDENTS AND ALSO THEY PLAY DND TOGETHER AND MORDRED LIKES TO BE A MODEL FOR CHRYSI WHENEVER SHE DRAWS!!! I just want to bring that up :3
