This is not really an ask and is more just generic fan-mail. It might even be a bit trite, but I just couldn't hold this in. I have to express how much I enjoyed Inverted Fate! I only just learned about it for the first time last month, and it has been so much fun catching up on the series all the way up to its current point! The sprites, the music, the games, the videos, the secrets page, the overall story, everything was so well done! (To the point I could see myself revisiting it all in future and binging it all over again lol)

Experiencing everything blind starting from Chapter 1 on the website and working my way through was a far more interesting roller-coaster than I had ever imagined.

I know I'm just a random anonymous voice on the internet, nobody of importance. I'm sure you've probably heard this kind of thing hundreds of times from many other people, but I don't think praise can ever be said enough. This series is awesome! It's easily one of the best UT fan works I've had the pleasure of seeing, and I can't wait to see what you choose to do with the series in the future! (Rift has been especially interesting so far!)

DEATH THREAT: REVISITED

On November 8th 2022, an anonymous person took issue with a post I made regarding the use of read more on long fics. All I asked in that post was that people used it, and if they didn’t know how, to google it or ask someone how. Simple. It should not have been offensive, and yet, someone took offense and started a tirade against me.

The post in question was this one:

I put it in the Top Gun Maverick tags because that's where I spent my time. Usually I wouldn't, but I was fed up with having to scroll past 5k word fics, so I wrote this post. Could I have worded it differently or been nicer? Sure. The ask that followed was this one:

In the next one, they asked me to be kind. I made many of the same points as I did above, as seen here:

This response was clearly not the one they wanted, so they turned to name calling, vile accusations, and inappropriate sexual messages. I'm going to use the read more here to 1. hide the asks I got because they're upsetting and 2. shorten this post. No one wants to scroll forever to get past this.

That last one is in reference to a message I answered, asking what evidence they had of me being into bestiality. I also do not have twitter.

This went on for hours, and while I was initially laughing, at some point it turned. I started feeling really upset and anxious about it. I remember shaking. Then came the death threat. It caught me off guard. I wasn’t expecting it, and honestly, calling it a death threat might be a little extreme. Nonetheless, the threat of harm shocked me. I replied, trying to give off an air of nonchalance, when in reality, I was freaking out.

After that, I got a few more asks, upset I was calling it a death threat. I started calling it a threat of harm instead, because it felt extreme. After those asks, I turned off the option to send anonymous asks, which I had not done in all the years I’d been on Tumblr. I had to protect my mental health. I reported it to tumblr support and took a few days off the hellsite to give myself time to process.

Eventually, Tumblr got back to me, telling me they were “sorry I had a bad experience with anonymous asks” and told me to block the anons. I was furious. They dismissed not only me, but the threats I’d received. When I sent in my original ticket, I made it clear they could contact me if they needed more information. They never did. I’m still pissed about that. This was before you had to have an account to send anonymous asks, so they could still come back. I had to block five separate asks to get all of them to disappear.

Anonymous asks are currently open, but I'd be lying if I said I don't still get anxious when I see that grey icon in my inbox. I'm still scared they could come back and start up again. I'm finding it easier to turn off anon these days, and I've had to do it several times since then to protect myself further. I won't hesitate to do it again.

If you read this all the way to the end: Thank you for reading. I know this doesn't affect anyone but me, but I wanted to share this post, regardless. I want to thank the people who have been there for me through it all, and the ones who've listened to me talk about it. I appreciate you.

A Welcome Wake Up Call by anonymous - this one is very soft and sweet! bold/assertive Near in smut is such a weakness of mine (and also long-haired Near!!)

I also have to give a bonus mention to hot soup on a cold day by neallo - I felt it probably wasn’t great form to rec a fic from the person who sent me the ask but I had to mention it anyway given it fits every single one of these categories 🥰 it’s such a delightful fic!!

For your AO3 vs Tumblr comment poll: I have been posting on AO3 since 2012 and while I've been on Tumblr longer than that, I didn't start posting fics on here until last year. I get about the same number of comments on both sites (1... maybe 2 if I'm lucky), but I know more people read my fics on AO3 because of the hit counter, whereas I don't think hardly anybody sees my fics on Tumblr except maybe a couple mutuals.

It's easy for posts to get lost on Tumblr and to miss notifications, whereas AO3 comments are easy to find and revisit for that motivation boost. Some people in the reblogs of this poll have said that the sense of community is better on Tumblr, and they're lucky to have followers who talk to them. I can reblog all the ask games and reblog all the "send random asks" or "ask me about my OCs" or "ask me about my WIPs" posts I want and yet they all either go unseen or ignored because I'm not Tumblr famous. (And the reason I'm writing this on anonymous is because I don't want people to think I'm begging for attention or guilting the few followers I have into messaging me.)

AO3 is also nice for readers who leave longer, more detailed comments. Tumblr has character limits on comments and tags (there might even be a tag limit but I'm not 100% sure), and some people might not want to leave their comments in a reblog. People used to have long threads of conversations in reblogs years ago, but that is no longer "in-style" these days. And I have also had back and forth with readers or other authors on AO3 (one of my fics has a comment thread that is over 60 comments long and most of them have nothing to do with the story). So you can still have a lot of interaction on AO3, as well, but it depends on if the author wants to do so or if they would rather chat on a different platform.

I chose AO3 for the poll, but if your comments are short enough (regarding character limit), you can post them on both sites. Or you can post your initial comment on AO3 and then have that conversation on Tumblr (especially if anything comes up that might be a spoiler). But like others have said, any comment is appreciated.

I can reblog all the ask games and reblog all the "send random asks" or "ask me about my OCs" or "ask me about my WIPs" posts I want and yet they all either go unseen or ignored because I'm not Tumblr famous.

*hug* So many of us feel this way (I do too, occasionally), but I hope you continue to reblog those posts regardless. I have faith that every writer out there has an audience, and you need to give readers every chance to find and appreciate you. <3

I've written for Glee, the Star Wars Prequels, The History Boys, and Mystery Science Theater. I'd consider myself to be currently writing for Top Gun, Mission: Impossible, and Darklina/Shadow and Bone, but I would never rule out writing for an older fandom again!

I do! It takes me forever and a day (and I really want to get better at it!) but I appreciate every single comment I get and it always makes me smile when I see a new one in my inbox

6) what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably Losing (There You Are) by nature of it being a fic that is canon compliant with the ending of the Star Wars Prequels. Given that I've yet to update it and the cliffhanger was particularly cruel, you could also count The Once and Future Queen

7) what’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

the definition of fatherhood is one of the happiest endings I've ever written, period. Looking back on it, a lot of the endings I've written aren't explicitly written as happy per se but rather as open interpretations because they directly feed into canon (see any of the fics I've written for Mission: Impossible). I'm not against a happy ending though, I've just never actually finished writing my Big Magnum Opus fics that have the earned happy endings.

8) do you get hate on fics?

I did occasionally get some "How Could Anyone Possibly Write This" style comments on The Once and Future Queen but given that I've not updated it in over 18 months... No, not really.

9) do you write smut? if so, what kind?

Confession time: I've attempted to write smut so many times but I've never published any because each time I try to write it, I just get too horny and then never finish writing the scene. Oops.

10) do you write crossovers? what’s the craziest one you’ve written?

In my head there are plenty of crossovers that live in my little mental sandbox, but I've yet to put one to paper. I guess the most niche one that's fully self-indulgent would be the Madam Secretary/The Last Five Years crossover that would appeal to an audience of me and approximately two prairie dogs.

11) have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge! But I do have a fun and funky little sticker/mug design for if it ever does happy to me

12) have you ever had a fic translated?

Not to my knowledge! (again)

13) have you ever co-written a fic before?

No, but I'm really intrigued by the idea! A friend and I do have joint custody over an MST3k AU that will be written and published by the 21st of Never, though.

My ao3 stats will tell you it's Darklina. I don't think that's necessarily true, because all my ships live in my heart and are waiting to be drafted back into active duty from the reserves like the Manchurian Candidate.

15) what’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

The Glee WIP I started when I was fifteen and have thought about at length for Years but can never revisit because—and this is key—I was fifteen when I started posting it and I simply cannot face the realities of my writing at fifteen.

Dialogue, evoking the desired emotion, descriptive language, inner turmoil

17) what are your writing weaknesses?

Plot (aka why I've never finished a long fic)

18) thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Okay so one time I double and triple checked a term of endearment in Mandarin Chinese and then a friend asked me why I'd used that translation because she'd never heard it as a platonic usage, always a romantic usage, and long story short I will never be doing that again.

19) first fandom you wrote for?

A long time ago in a middle school far far away there was a little schoolgirl writing fanfiction on wide-ruled loose leaf paper. It has since been lost to time. Archivists think this was probably the best for everyone involved.

20) favorite fic you’ve written?

Right now, I really love need you / want you / miss you / love you, because it was my first foray into writing second person POV, and I really enjoyed living in Julia's head that way! It presented me with an interesting challenge grammatically, and it was a great way for me to think about how Julia goes from Ethan's lawfully-wedded wife at the end of MI3 to his lawfully dead ex-wife at the start of Ghotocol to the long-lost love of his life in the third act of MI6.

Rad's enormous pile of abandoned MetaWare WIPs/things that ARE finished but I didn't like them/WIPs that I might come back to/other stuff!

Below the "keep reading" button will be a detailing of all of these images! Please be aware that this WILL be an extremely long post, so... Just a warning. There'll be a second post after this that will also contain the rest of the art that I wasn't able to squeeze in here. (Even 30 pics per Tumblr post isn't enough for this...)

Let's start off with the most recently abandoned WIP!

I started drawing this about two weeks after Chris' birthday (her bday is January 4th) and I was really happy with it, but then I had NO idea how to pose Izzy. It's a bummer since I liked how Chris' hair came out, but alas! (Happy belated birthday, Chris!)

Possibility of finishing?: Yeah, maybe. Prob will have to change Izzy's pose if I really want to finish it though.

Oh hey, I posted this a few months ago on my other blog!

Really wish I finished it, but now that I'm looking back on it, there's definitely some improvement to be had here. I don't like whatever's going on with her face. You can tell that I gave up while trying to make the background as well. Poor Hope!

Possibility of finishing?: I'll have to completely redraw this if I plan on finishing it, but I've definitely got a feeling that I'll come back to this someday.

Hey, remember that art I had pinned on my other blog for a while? I was planning on redrawing it, but I only ever managed to complete one part of it until I forgot about it... It's definitely an upgrade from the original version, though I can do better than this nowadays.

Okay, here's some context for these two. I got an anonymous ask on my other account saying that they liked my MetaWare PFP and I thought that it would be a great idea if I responded to it with some art and also turn that same post into an announcement for my MetaWare sideblog (this one!), but that of course did not actually happen.

I like how I drew Hope, but ergh... that is NOT Nari. I don't know how I managed to make her look like a completely different character in this one, but I do NOT like it.

I actually touched this one up a bit before sending it here. It used to look MUCH more incomplete, but it's basically done now besides from the hair being missing 'n all.

Possibility of finishing?: I might draw more MetaWare stuff with drastic lighting in the future, but I don't plan on revisiting this specifically.

I worked on Hope before sending this because she looked kinda off, but I think she looks OK now. You can see that this isn't really what my usual art style looks like. I was trying to mix together the original MetaWare sprite art style and the style SparkBag used in the polaroid anniversary art he made, and I think I did just fine.

Possibility of finishing?: It's basically already done! Coloring it would probably make it cooler, but I don't think I'll ever do that.

This won't be the last time I try to use eyes symbolically.

Yep, this was based off of Papyrus' "Dating Start!" minigame! Just another proof of concept or... Okay I don't know what else to call these. Like, they're definitely NOT finished nor are they actual fleshed out sketches, what else am I supposed to call them???? I think it's cool though.

Personally, I think this is adorable. When drawing people's fursonas I always kinda make them more animal than anthropomorphic, but I think it leads to pretty cute art!

iiii really think I made the hat too big. Like... WAY too big. Don't really like how her face came out, but the body itself is pretty OK. I based it too much on Ingo's original pose though, kinda looks like I just put Nari's head on his head LMAO

Don't exactly remember what this was for. Either it was for an AU of mine or someone else's AU. Her front hair's kinda too far down though, I had a bit of a habit making her face REALLY small compared to her hair in my old art.

I had to edit this one a SHIT ton before sending this final picture. I wish I had a pin that said "I HATE DRAWING METAWARE STYLE NOSES" because I loathe them. There were other reasons why I didn't like the original version, but I was annoyed with the nose the most. Really happy how this came out though!

This features Lumi (Metolefrul-indus' fan character) and an old version of Rowan (my fan character)! I changed Rowan's design and personality soon after this, so I don't think this interaction with Lumi and Rowan will actually ever happen... Sorry Lumi! 'Twas just a little doodle.

ahhh i don't really know how/when i got into writing. i'd always been a huge reader as a kid, and i think that was probably the greatest influence on wanting to write. monkey see, monkey do. i used to write a lot of short stories, and did all throughout college as well. also i took writing courses throughout high school and college but tbh i don't think those helped me much. i think what helped me be a writer more than anything else was english courses, and reading classics, and reading books that made me see the face of god (im an atheist). and, of course, you'll never write anything worth reading if you don't have something you REALLY want to say. you gotta have something to say... even if that's just 'namkook married' you've got to want to say it with ur whole heart..... and i do.. i rly do... hope readers can see that 💞

as for dialogue.... 1. my birth chart is mostly air (gemini tbh) so i think that cannot be undervalued as a contributing factor... just... love to have a lil chat... ask anybody who dms me rip.... 2. my rule of thumb for dialogue is that it should read/sound like something you'd wanna eavesdrop on and not miss a word of (which is what readers are essentially doing). whenever i write and i start getting bored by the conversation, i delete and rewrite. if i'm bored by my own stuff, spare a thought for the poor readers... also, personally, i have focus issues reading fic so i also try not to weigh dialogue down with too much narration, exposition, internal monologues, and unnecessary movement. also i think dialogue scenes read better/faster/stronger when there are line breaks between speakers and clear indications as to who is speaking. i cannot speak for other people, but my personal mount everest is trying to read a dialogue scene that is dialogue + huge brick of narration after every exchange... may god save my soul.... basically i write as i'd wanna read... i hope everybody does that for themselves! maybe everybody who likes my dialogue just enjoys their adhd being catered to hehehe quick and snappy, people!! let's gooooooo!!

1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone Who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)

ooooo, this is actually a really hard one. part of my wants to say Big Feelings Little Boy, because i probably feel most proud of that one so i’d be like ‘look at this!! (:’ but maybe Double Trouble? perhaps ‘cause it has 4 characters, it’s just a good time really and i feel like it’d be a good first read.

12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?

hmmm, i guess maybe soothing items like paci’s/bottles? it’s not like i disliked them, i guess i just didn’t feel like the writer for them/their vibe in the universe. i’m yet to incorporate them (if ever) but it used to be a no and right now it’s a maybe.

not that i can think of at the moment. at least nothing regarding nsap/lf1a.

i have a spicy fic posted anonymously; nothing to do with age play or lf1a but that was a experience, i did enjoy the anonymity of it and getting to step out of something i know how to do, i guess it made me a little more ‘loose’ writing fic in general? if that makes sense? like i was like okay maybe i can just try and write things that didn’t initially feel like something i’d be the kind of writer for.

Keyboard 99% of the time. Once in a great while, I'll use a notebook but I prefer to type since I type a lot faster than I write with a pen and I tend to get writer's cramp if I write too much.
