Note
I just read the maws bonding ficlets from the start. It’s so cute. Just immediate child acceptance. Clark is going “so I’m a dad now” no questions asked.
no questions only dad.
“I like the name,” Superboy mumbles into his chest, just barely shy about it. Conner mumbles into his chest. Clark feels an overwhelming warmth in his own thrumming heart and smiles helplessly, then gives Lois the soft, besotted look he can’t hold back. They have a baby. It’s so great. Conner is so great. He and Lois have a baby and he's great!
Lois turns very red, for some reason, then straightens up and shoves her phone back in her pocket as she clears her throat.
“Conner James Lane-Kent,” she decides firmly, putting her hands on her hips. “I’d say ‘Olsen’ for the middle name but ‘James’ we can sell as a coincidence easier when we’re figuring out how to explain . . . literally all of this. Any of this. This is going to be very difficult to explain, actually, given the fact you two are functionally identical. Hm. Yeah, the cover’s gonna require some work.”
“We’ll figure something out,” Clark hums unconcernedly, nuzzling Conner’s hair. Conner bites him, then jumps up and wraps himself around him like a supernaturally strong koala. Clark rumbles happily–his kid likes him!–and Conner starts purring just as happily. Clark feels even warmer.
“. . . also you two can never do that out of costume,” Lois says. “Like, ever.”
“Hm?” Clark glances back at her, a little puzzled. “Why not?”
“Clark,” Lois says, staring at him. “The sounds you two are making right now sound like if a mantis shrimp was trying to explain color theory. Those aren’t even sounds, I’m pretty sure, our senses just don’t know how else to translate them.”
“I think my fillings are buzzing,” Jimmy agrees thoughtfully, poking at his own cheek. “Feels kinda weird.”
“But Conner’s so cute when he purrs,” Clark says, trying not to pout at the idea of telling his kid he can’t purr whenever he wants to. Conner purrs louder and bites him again. It’s the most adorable thing that’s ever happened in the entire history of the universe. In the entire history of any universe. Like, all those alternate realities they saw only wish that anything that adorable had ever happened to them.
“That sounds like purring to you?!” Lois asks incredulously.
“Yes,” Clark says, a little puzzled. “Why, what does it sound like to you?”
“A rockslide causing a ten-car pile-up,” Lois says frankly.
“And you sound like somebody made a pack of tigers fight a whale,” Jimmy says.
“I don’t think tigers do packs,” Clark says, frowning consideringly and hooking Conner into a headlock as the other tries to claw his face off in the cutest possible fashion. “Do they?”
“I don’t think so, but lions’ roars aren’t as bone-jarring and viscerally terrifying to hear up close as tigers’,” Jimmy says. “So I went with the scarier one.”
“Pa’s not scary!” Conner protests indignantly, scowling at Jimmy, and Clark feels warm all over again and hugs him harder. Well–tightens the headlock, anyway. Same difference. He really was so worried about being a weapon, being something dangerous, being . . .
He can’t imagine ever worrying about that again, when Metropolis turned its lights off for him and Lois and Jimmy both trust him even knowing what he’s become in other realities and Conner knew it was safe to come and find him.
And when he’s looking at Conner, he can’t feel like any kind of a “weapon” at all.
No. Not even a little bit.
“Clark’s not scary, no, but the sound of a pack of tigers fighting a whale is,” Jimmy says. “The rockslide and ten-car pile-up is a little unsettling too, to be honest. Like, much less so, but it’s still on the radar there.”
“No it’s not, it’s precious,” Clark says, then starts preening Conner’s ruffled curls into some semblance of order again. Well . . . a vague impression of it, anyway. Maybe. Kind of.
A bit.
. . . possibly that’s a fool’s errand, but whatever. He’s willing to put the effort in for his kid, fool’s errand or not.

Detective Aziraphale
Aziraphale's Edinburgh Journey: Part 1
Tumblr media
This is the beginning of a series of posts focusing on Aziraphale's trip to Edinburgh in S2. Several times people have asked why he even had to make the trip - why didn't he just email the pub to ask his questions? Ah, thinking like true child of the 21st century, you are! In a narrative sense, its not that simple, especially in the GO narrative where there are always parallels to be found to enhance the story. And I think there a couple of other reasons why its been hard to understand the reason for this drawn-out and apparently dead-end investigation, which haven't really been explored or talked about much yet. We will start to look at one of them in this meta.
I mentioned a while ago when I was putting together the S2 Chiastic structure that I was hoping to find some hints to the purpose of the trip to Edinburgh. What it did reveal was that the trip was a larger parallel to Crowley's trip to Heaven with Muriel in S206. This is pair S; where the publican in the Resurrectionist asks Aziraphale if he one those investigative reporters in S203, matched with Crowley bounding up to Muriel at the end of S2E5 and declaring "Officer, I need to report a crime."
Both Crowley and Aziraphale have fantasy alternative personas. Most of us are familiar with Crowley's James Bond role-playing from time to time and other hints of tough masc characters he sees in films.
Tumblr media
When he dons the "tactical turtleneck" we know there is some kind of super-spy power cosplay going on (and it also extends to other characters, such as Gabriel and Saraqael, if you pay close attention.) Hence why it's part of his costume when he infiltrates Heaven.
Tumblr media
But we don't often see this wishful side of Aziraphale's, other than his dream of being a magician. According to Neil, he also sees himself as a journalist, a detective and a "man of the world." *
The publican asks Aziraphale if he is one of those "investigative reporters" when he arrives at the Resurrectionist, and sometimes that is the dual role of a journalist, to be both a detective and a reporter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crowley has gone upstairs to gain access Gabriel's record, the one place he can do that.
Tumblr media
Aziraphale also gets hold of Gabriel's record...er, recorded song.
Hang on, no. That's not right way to look at it, actually.
While you might think the focus is still on finding out about Gabriel in Edinburgh, Aziraphale's mirror in S2 is Beelzebub, so there is a slight twist in the way we need to consider various aspects here.
Perhaps this should be "Aziraphale gets a hold of Beelzebub's music" instead, because he's really going to Edinburgh to find out more about Beelzebub, he just doesn't realize it.
Tumblr media
Yep, you heard me right. The trip to Edinburgh is not a fact-finding mission about Gabriel, its actually a fact-finding mission about Beelzebub. And he doesn't get the answers he needs.
Neither does Crowley, by the way.
Tumblr media
GABRIEL: I told you you could ask. However, I am the only First-Order archangel in the room, or, you know, the Universe, so I'm not gonna answer so much. But you feel free to knock yourself out with all the asking. Anyway, Armageddon the Sequel, that's a nah.
Crowley wonders out aloud why Gabriel changed his mind about starting another Armageddon, but the trial doesn't really answer that either. Nothing is really answered until Gabriel regains his memories, in the end.
To round out this post about the parallel investigations, each of them take an opposite with them, that they couldn't have got there without: Crowley takes an angel (Muriel) and Aziraphale takes a demon. Well, something demonic, anyway. **
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you to @komorezuki for pointing out that the trip to Edinburgh was really about Beelzebub. While you could still do this post making it a full Gabriel parallel, in the long run it makes more sense to look at the other way, as I hope to show you in the forthcoming posts.
*I thought I had a link to the post that this came from, then lost it. I've spent several hours trying to find it again with no luck, so if you know the post I'm referring to please let me know so I can link it!
**I've read that Aziraphale could have taken the train in less time it would have taken to drive, and that the train station is only a short walk from the pub etc. But this wouldn't have driven the narrative!
This series continues in the following posts:
Part 2: Aziraphale-Beelzebub Parallels Part 3: Stocktaking in the Basement Part 4: Judgement Day Part 5: I Know Where I'm Going

the thing that kills me about Steve's drug induced alternate reality is that...well, for all the times people (mostly Danny) compare Steve to a Superhero/superhuman, they tend to cast Danny as the Sidekick, Steve as the Protagonist and Danny as an Extra, even Danny unfortunately sees it that way ('you look like James Bond and I look like a waiter'), but it's not how Steve sees him.
if Steve were a superhero then his dad being killed in such a traumatic way is his Origin Story. you'd think in an ideal universe Steve would change the past to save his dad himself and yet in his dream, it's not Steve who saves his father. it's Danny. Steve makes Danny The Hero of his own Origin Story.
other people may think of Danno as a Plucky Sidekick™ but he's been the Main Character for Steve all along, actual centre of his universe. Danny may not think highly of himself but Steve thinks he hung the moon.
most people only wish to find someone who loves them half as much and thinks as highly of them as Steve does Danny.

The Devil Judge Rewatch Ep 11 (Part 1)
If this was a chess game, then this episode is when the parties involved had made their major moves. One which would determine the outcome of their fate in the drama.
And it started with Cha Kyunghee making use of Sunah's past to blackmail her.
Tumblr media
And you can see how quickly their position have changed. Sunah not allowed to sit, unlike when Kyunghee had visited her at her office in the previous episode.
Tumblr media
It's a scary and stressful world where your position can change in the blink of an eye. And I'm glad that I don't have to deal with such a toxic environment in my daily life.
And we can also see how unscrupulous and underhanded Kyunghee is.
Tumblr media
Forcing Sunah to do her bidding.
Tumblr media
Kyunghee uses her power to threaten and tear others down in order to benefit her agenda. And which, I feel, is the reason why she ended up backing herself into a corner.
Such tactics don't earn you loyalty or allies that might offer you a helping hand in your time of need. Everyone is doing what you want because they fear, not you, but the power that you hold and which could harm them or their loved ones.
And the moment that power is gone (which is difficult to hold onto in the first place). People would be sitting back and celebrating your downfall. Cause you, who had been a threat to them, is now gone. And could be threatened back, just like the president had done so to Kyunghee towards the end of this episode.
Forcing her to make the choice of killing herself. Cause she couldn't stomach, seeing her son suffer again because of her ambition. And neither could she accept losing her power. Living in shame and at the mercy of others, who would surely attack her and her family, if they had a chance.
But most of all, it was the unbearable fact that she had lost that Kyunghee, who was such a proud woman, couldn't live with.
And which Yohan hadn't seen it coming cause he didn't understand. His motivation, from the start, was to take revenge for his brother and not for personal gain. And even if there were setbacks to his plans, it was merely a matter of detouring and finding an alternative.
But to lose what you have staked your pride, your self-worth and identity in - like Kyunghee who had built herself up to be this powerful woman who could 'move mountains' if she wishes. Death was better than being alive and crippled of your powers and your might.
Yohan, on the other hand, uses seduction to tempt Sunah to help him.
And I don't think it's a coincidence that Sunah chance upon him having a shave at his exclusive barber.
Maybe Yohan had ensured that his schedule was such that the barber was the only place Sunah could waylaid him.
And how can someone look so good with shaving cream on their face!
Tumblr media
And this whole scene, it's sensual to the max.
Tumblr media
And I can understand why people will ship the two of them.
Tumblr media
I love TDJ and their use of mirror reflection. This isn't the first or the last time we see the drama doing that. We have them doing it too when Kyunghee was about to threaten Sunah in this episode.
Tumblr media
And when I have the time, I shall do a separate post on the number of times TDJ had used this tactic.
Next, we have Yohan so cool and suave despite having a shaving knife held to his throat.
Tumblr media
The Kingsman should have accepted him based on how unruffled he was.
And he could be James Bond too, disarming Sunah with just a shift of his hand.
Tumblr media
And then we have him seducing Sunah by being the type of bad boy we fantasied about. And which will have to go into Part 2, which I will put up later on.
Part 2 can be found here.

Spoilers for guardians of the Galaxy vol 3
So...I was able to go into the movie with no spoilers.
I got what I always wanted...which is Rocket Racoon’s wonderful Otter girl friends......
but also not what I wanted because TRADGEDY.
Someone better get the gauntlet or something, or dead pool better make his girlfriend the embodiment of death because i’m not sure how healthy it is for me to endgame ship Rocket with a deciesed otter.....i’m still gonna do it because they are ADORABLE together...but STILL. be careful what you wish for.
I swear to god if Thor being added to teh guardians for a throw away joke threw off the final volume so Peter and Gamora don’t get together I’m gonna kick em.
Very happy that James Gun helped on this movie....kindof worried Mavel will mess up the Guardians while he’s gone....but maybe theres a buffer so he can come back and wrote more later.....?
Over all I love the jokes and I love how it actually lets the emotional moments to BREATH. I cared for all of the characters so I felt basically all of them.
also question if I’m over thinking stuff.......did the volume try to ship peter with Nebula over Gamora and also fail at it?
On one hand I feel VERY weird about Gamora becoming a ravager? She is mean and definitly talented but her joining a team feels a bit odd to me...especially when I know nothing about that team aside from the fact he was the semi dad figure to Yandu who was willing to give Yandu a proper buriel? after(understandably) cutting him off for child trafficing. On one hand that can imply he is at least a better leader than Yandu with slightly stricter moral so she is in good hands...on the other it feels odd because Gamora before was working to do good across the galaxy to make up for what she did under the command of Thano’s and she was lowket trying to sabotage or keep infro from Thao’s hands before the first Guardian movie right? Which they implied in the lead up to the snapp.
On one hand its a living...and I get her creating a life different from our Gamora to try to avoid comparisons...but I’m also confused why they think I should feel as satisfied seeing her having happy moments with strangers who I have no idea how they opened her up to smiling that way, rather than just see her with the Guardians.
I mean..she technically is the same Gamora that becomes our Gamora right? SO it feels like shouldn’t she reap the harvest that she sowed?
On the other hand I also get why Peter and Gamora can;t be together right now. first all the moments that led to them bonding and falling in love hadn’t happened to this Gamora yet..and that love took years and ages to work up to the same level where they both started on the same page. Expecting her to fall for him just like that isn’t going to be easy and isn’t exactly fair to expect since love is hard work. And there is still alot of pressure that she’s gonna feel because they remember a Gamora with different character development. AND while she is their Gamora...it also doesn’t change that the Gamora THEY loved and had all that time with died/became a soul stone. So it wouldn’t exactly be a good look if they could easily forget that and just replace her with the ‘new’ her....even if it IS technically still their version(and not like a alternate version of her)(since this is technically one timeline)(as far as I know...I haven’t looked into loki the tv show yet helping to smooth the ruffles).
So them not getting toegther is a way to remind us that the Gamora we built memories with is gone and we have to mourn her. and just because we love someone doesn’t mean they’ll love us back or that everything will just work out.
on the other hand....it does feel a bit odd because why wouldn’t she take advantage of the relationships that ‘she’ had built up already? did they not try to get her to stay? and wouldn’t she have tried to help out the universe after what her...thanos did? They did help fight side by side in that final battle with Thano’s right?
Does Nebula miss her in the same way that Peter does? like Nebula grunts a her though maybe because Gamoura didn’t go through the same developement of softening up and being more understanding and having that heart to heart with Nebula that that the first Gamora did...theres still a kindof disconnect.
Also..anyone else get the weird vibe she was trying to ship Peter and Nebula a few times...on one hand....that makes no sense? Peter and Nebula didn’t really hang out or connect on a personal level as far as I knew except that they both cared about Gamora. So them both missing Gamora in odd ways made sense...and since Nebula is the only one this new Gamora really knows...they could think of Nebula as responsible for Gamora stuff on trying to fix that...but new Gamora saying that what Peter was saying(all these nice things about the first Gamora) describes Nebula...I was kindof confused...because Nebula can’t fixate on her revenge anymore and did help convince the new Gamora...but I’m still a bit confused because she wasn’t exactly nicer.
There was the weird vibe peter had after Gamora brought it up where he brought up Nebula’s eyes and that Nebula told peter to not look at her like a sad puppy...which I can’t tell was it supoused to be a shipping moment or was it supoused to mock the idea of that couple or who people might backupship and its just peter being sad and desperate for comfort?
I’m just saying we did see Peter and Gamora still have a odd moment at the end saying their goodbyes...which I think hinted she might have picked up feeling at least something towards him...but then she kept looking at Nebula and back at Peter and even seemed to cut it short a little after Nebula started walking towards them...so does Gamora actually think Nebula likes Peter like that?
because on one hand Nebula DID try to save Peter...but she is also part of the team now and she KNOWS Peter is someone who was very dear to the Gamora who she had the heart to heart with...so it kind of makes sense she would be protective over him?
I mean I was sensing some build up between Peter’s bro with the whistle arrow and Nebula before...but a passing joke in Thor love and thunder kind of cut off that potential build up.
Over all definitely still love the movie. just a few thoughts(and not even all of them.
also does everyone else miss gamora?
I still am kindof confused...because on one hand...peter taking time to process alone and maybe close his earth chapter a bit makes sense...but we just found out rocket had almost died. and most of teh guardians were dead for literal YEARS due to the snap. and we found out Rocket had his entire family die and leave him before....why woudl leaving him alone after all that be the right move instead of reassuring him they’ll take care of themselves more for his sake?
Also...i love Rocket being his best friend...but I kindof wish we saw them talk about stuff more? or just...how she was one of the permanent losses of Thano’s?
someone gave me a theory that Gamora might be avoiding the team because she doesn’t think she deserves them because they seem so good? especially since she doesn’t have the context of being in the same jail at the begining.
I really hope this isn’t the end for Peter and Gamora though...

I've started listening to this on audio. It's been interesting so far. I wish there was some work done on polyamorous relationships in connection to attachment theory.
I personally find that my style very much shifts depending on my partners. Chris is a very secure attachment person and with him I also have a secure style. That's why we've never fought. We support, encourage, love. There's no drama over here. It's all good. We're still working on open communication, as all couples must, but this marriage is rock solid.
With James I was more anxious style, at least at first. He was generally anxious and needed a lot of reassurance. So we had two moderately anxious-attachment people trying really hard not to upset the apple cart, which is probably why we had so many things left unsaid.
When my needs are met, I feel secure and become a less anxious partner. I need fewer reassurances and the depth of the attachment is strong. I can relax into a more secure style, enjoy the bond more, be more fun loving and emotionally satisfied.
In the beginning of a relationship that I really want and am committed to, I can be very anxious. I need to be reassured, verbally and physically, that I am desired, loved, admired. The less I get of it, the more I need it, until either I find a way to get that need met or my partner decides my needs are too much (not realizing that with support the need actually reduces) and leaves. Alternately, sometimes I realize the need I have is greater than the connection I feel, so I decide to end the relationship. Most relationships end (either on their side or mine) relatively quickly. It's when I find that the person I've fallen for is truly worth the effort to get to that secure place that I can hold on. My therapist recently asked me, "Is it worth it?" Oh yes. Yes. He's worth it.

Ethereal Wisteria
Ethereal Wisteria by vani is typing
Reincarnation sounds fun, doesn't it? Especially when the world you are being reborn into is one you'd always wished could have been real, and that you could have been a part of it. Diane Allan-Becker thought so too.
It's probably why the universe decided to have a little fun with her, and instead of sending her to the Heaven where she was supposed to go, she was reincarnated in the magical world of Harry Potter as Harry's twin sister, which meant playing a crucial role in the prophecy, and having to handle all the other problems that came along with being a Potter.
She didn't know if this was a mistake or if it had been done on purpose, but it was everything Diane had ever wanted. The universe had given her a gift. A chance to form bonds with and save lives of the people she had always adored, in a world she could have never imagined even in her wildest dreams to be real.
Diane was getting the chance to live the Y/N life, and oh, was she ready to fuck shit up.

MIXTAPE #6 (12/09/22)
I Wish I Was James Bond - Scouting for Girls
Album: Scouting for Girls
Year: 2008
Track: Single (Post-Release: 2008)
Me and girlfriend share music a lot, and in fact, it’s how we first got talking. On her recommendation, I listened to Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix - a fantastic album - and on mine, she listened to Skylarking by XTC - my all time favourite album. Every now and then, we’ll put together a collaborative playlist to listen to whilst we play games together - the most recent of which I dubbed the “Sumeru mix”, in honour of the new region that was recently added to Genshin Impact - my girlfriend is a rather big fan of the game, and so I play along with her. This track, which she added, has been stuck in my head recently, entirely because it is just so damn catchy. The vocals are very enjoyable, and very Wombats-y, and I feel it just really captures the feeling of wanting to escape the realities of life, and to become a cool pop-culture hero. For Roy Stride, that’s clearly 007, but for me, I’d probably go with The Flash.

Kick Out the Jams - MC5
Album: Kick Out the Jams
Year: 1969
Track: Single (Post-Release: 1969)
It’s funny how people always think of the Ramones and the Sex Pistols as the originators of punk, when you’ve got acts like The Stooges and tracks like this one embodying that energy back in the sixties, and sounding way ahead of their time whilst doing so. Proto-punk is the name apparently, although nothing about this song sounds like a prototype - despite being a live album, the production on this track sounds so clean and sharp, and the attitude of vocalist Rob Tyner feels palpable - no wonder it was first track ever played on XFM. If you were unaware, XFM was a British alternative radio station, the former moniker of Radio X, and home to talent such as Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. A documentary about the station’s early days was recently released, and you’ll never guess what song they named it after…

Hate to Say I Told You So - The Hives
Album: Veni Vidi Vicious
Year: 2000
Track: Single (Post-Release: 2000)
Speaking of Gervais and Merchant, I’ve previously mentioned my affection for their landmark sitcom The Office, which I would entirely consider to be a 10/10 bit of content. And despite my enjoyment of their other work, particularly Extras and the HBO-animated Ricky Gervais Show, the only other item in their body of work I’d consider to be a 10/10 is their radio show on XFM. Joined by the round-headed buffoon that is Karl Pilkington, Gervais and Merchant show an open contempt for both the station and its audience as they discuss all manner of content, which nearly always tends to loop back to one of either A) Chinese fellas, B) gay fellas, or C) little monkey fellas. All the episodes are up on Spotify, and I’d recommend them to anyone and everyone, even if you’re not a fan of Gervais’ recent work or attitude, which I assure you, I also am not. But this track was played quite a few times on their show, which was how I discovered it - it was a popular single at the time, and so presumably in regular rotation on the XFM playlist.

Be Sweet - Japanese Breakfast
Album: Jubilee
Year: 2021
Track: Single (Pre-Release: 2021)
Japanese Breakfast seem to have become quite a popular band, as every track off of this album has at least two million listens, but I regret to inform you that I am merely a Japanese Breakfast novice. I discovered the band through a Yoko Ono tribute album - Ocean Child: Songs of Yoko Ono. Veteran David Byrne delivered a fantastic cover of Who Has Seen the Wind? with indie legends Yo La Tengo as his backing band, whilst Death Cab For Cutie contributed my favourite track, covering Waiting For the Sunrise. But alongside the two of them, standing out front he crowd, was Japanese Breakfast, and their beautiful rendition of Nobody Sees Me Like You Do, which then lead me to this, admittedly their most popular track, but with good reason. It’s fun, it has a funky backing track, and Michelle Zauner’s vocals are absolutely stunning.

Our House - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Album: Déjà Vu
Year: 1970
Track: Single (Post-Release: 1970)
Not to be confused with the Madness song, which is rather different, although still quite brilliant. Thanks to being a track recorded with folk supergroup Crosby, Stills & Nash, this is one of a handful of Neil Young tracks still on Spotify, after Young and Joni Mitchell pulled their libraries from the service for not deplatforming Joe Rogan. This song was in one of those Spotify playlists - “my life is a movie” I think was the one - and upon hearing I instantly recognised it. I’m not sure exactly where from - it could have been How I Met Your Mother, it could have been The Simpsons, it could even have been some advert from days gone by. But like the titular house our supergroup sings of, this song is cosy and comfortable, and one that finds me fantasising of the future, of the house that I’ll - hopefully - someday share with my girlfriend, our children, and two cats in the yard.

Pain - Jimmy Eat World
Album: Futures
Year: 2004
Track: Single (Pre-Release: 2004)
My girlfriend and I recently got into a conversation about The X-Files (her favourite show, I’ve only seen the pilot), and she was telling me - I think - about an episode which featured a ship out of time, and everyone on board resembled someone important in Mulder’s life, for example, Mitch Pileggi, who normally plays Walter Skinner, played an SS Sturmbannführer. I’m not exactly sure of the rank, but I’m certain that’s just a high-ranking Nazi officer. But she told me how much she enjoys episodes of TV shows where actors in the main cast get an episode to try their hand at a different character, and it got me thinking back to one of my favourite examples of this - Transference, a fourth season episode of Smallville wherein Clark Kent switches bodies with the incarcerated and terminally ill supervillain Lionel Luther. Tom Welling does fantastic work replicating John Glover’s performance and mannerisms, and the episode is genuinely tense, thanks to Lionel discovering Clark’s well-kept Kryptonian secret. Granted, Lionel has forgotten by the episode’s end, so that the show’s status quo can be maintained, but before we get to that, we get a thrilling showdown between Clark and Lionel - still in each other’s bodies - in the midst of a prison riot, all set to this catchy pop punk number.

The Queen Is Dead - The Smiths
Album: The Queen Is Dead
Year: 1986
Track: Album Track
And finally, we arrive at the part where I talk about all any Brit has had to talk about the past few days - the Queen is dead, boys. The discussion in my group chat did not take the situation as seriously as most outlets did, as in the hours leading up to her death, we discussed how if she died, she wouldn’t have the chance to play Fortnite Chapter 4, how wikipedia keeps reverting my edits on the Better Call Saul cast list despite their information being entirely incorrect, and how radio stations were preparing to ban punk music and anything by Queen. However, we noted that they did not say anything about The Smiths, and so we began a listening party, wherein this song, the title track from the band’s best album, played on a continuous loop. And then she died. And so whenever someone asks me what I was doing when the news broke of the Queen’s death, I can honestly say that I was listening to The Queen Is Dead. People may see that as disrespectful, but in my opinion, what was much more disrespectful was my friend David’s response to the news - “sadge”.

Summative Assessment Compulsory Question 1: Discuss the seven weekly topics as a whole
How do you understand the Critical Thinking Skills module? Explain your choice of visual metaphor. Do you have an alternative visual metaphor? Include image/s in your response.
This module has extremely influenced my personal development as a student and as a designer equipping me with a spectrum of essential soft skills, ranging from effective communication and proficient teamwork to adept time management and adaptability. Moreover, the module has made me delve deeper into the concepts of different skills and strategies changing my perspective of how I look at things and enhancing my way of thinking.
Tumblr media
My group selected a cow as the visual metaphor using the spots on the back of the cow to summarise what we've been learning over these seven weeks. The quote ‘Don’t cry over split milk’ is about not dwelling on our past mistakes and that we should live in the present. These mistakes aren’t roadblocks but stepping stones as a learning experience for us to grow and improve ourselves so that we can avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
Tumblr media
Another visual metaphor is a tower of Jenga. The blocks represent experiences in our lives and sometimes the blocks fall out which are our failures, however, we take those blocks that fall out and put them back at the top. These failures are our stepping stones towards growth and improvement transforming us into an individual with more experience and propelling us forward in life.
Which was your favourite activity or session? Why? Which aspects of it were memorable for you?
Tumblr media
My favourite activity was the collaborative week activity as I managed to bond with my new classmates that I had not really talked much to and during the activity, it was filled with fun and laughter and it was very enjoyable working together with them. Also, I think that our final design is really good and I am very proud of what we have achieved together as a team.
What is the value of working in a group?
One of the most important values of working in a group is being able to have diverse perspectives. As the people in the group are from different backgrounds, have different skills and viewpoints on the subject leading to a broader range of ideas. We are able to encourage each other, fostering a productive and positive work environment. We can also utilise our strengths as each member possesses unique strengths. For example, James is better at hands-on activities, so we let him make the hands for our design. Lastly, working in a group hones our communication skills such as listening and giving constructive feedback which are essential skills needed in life.
What do you wish you did more of, or better?
Having better time management. I procrastinate a lot and I take a long time to start working so I hope that slowly, I will be able to be less distracted and start working earlier so as to give higher quality work.

Week ending: 28 May 1953
Another three-song week - I am being spoiled! No familiar faces here, either. I think this might have been coronation week, so let's see if we're in a party mood...
I'm Walking Behind You - Eddie Fisher and Sally Sweetland (peaked at No. 1)
I can definitively confirm that with this song, at least, we are not in a party mood. It's slow and very soupy. Oh well.
Actually, this goes in the same category as All the Time and Everywhere, I think. Sleepy, creepy and very much of its era. But we'll get to the lyrics later.
First, the voice. Eddie Fisher, but also Sally Sweetland, singing at a pitch that probably drives dogs mad. Seriously, this is the highest pitch we've had yet, and it's unpleasant. Sally Sweetland also basically just seems to sing this bit - not sure why she gets a full credit, unless it's just that everyone was particularly unnerved by the pitch? There's something ghostly about it.
The situation is initially melodramatic but not that creepy; Eddie is apparently walking behind his love at her wedding, and sings about how he's going to hear her making her vows to another man. Sad, but not that weird, except for how Eddie's masochistically listening into the wedding. But hey, maybe they parted amicably, or maybe he knows both parties, who am I to judge. There's lots of reasons he might be there.
Things do, admittedly, take a turn for the worse in the next line: "Though you may forget me / You're still on my mind". Okay, so he's still hung up on this person, possibly unhealthily so? Not too weird, but it gives "Look over your shoulder / I'm walking behind" some serious stalker vibes.
And then Eddie loses any sympathy I had for him in one weird line: "Maybe I'll kiss again / With a love that's new / But I shall wish again / I was kissing you." Gross! You're basically comparing any future loves with your old one.
And then we end on the actual worst line: "I want you to know / That if things go wrong, dear / And fate is unkind / Look over your shoulder / I'm walking behind". Which, in the kindest interpretation, is him being incredibly untactful on this poor woman's wedding day and positioning himself as some sort of "nice guy" alternative to when her new love inevitably cheats. Gross.
And then there's the sinister "shame if anything happened" serial killer undertones. To be honest, this was my initial read on the song, and I still think it's quite convincing. This would be an incredible song to have as backing to a horror film, actually.
Amazingly, this is a cover of a version by one Dorothy Squires, and the song was semi-autobiographical? It was written by a former partner of hers upon learning that she was now with Roger Moore (yes, of James Bond fame) and for some reason she still did a version of it? Wild - if I were her, I wouldn't touch this one with a twelve-foot pole!
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me - Muriel Smith (3)
Unlike the last song, this song is both not creepy and actually quite sexy. I didn't know Muriel Smith at all when I hit play, but she's got a very unusual voice - lots of very emphatic "oooh" sounds, quite trained, but deep and it hits the emotional peaks of the song hard.
And this is a very emotional song, dripping in dramatic strings from the intro to the harp glissando at the end. It gets quite at points, where the backing drops out completely, and then it swells towards the end, at Muriel declares her love boldly and proudly.
The song itself feels quite "easy listening", but the lyrics are some of the raunchiest we've had yet. I mean, even the opening: "Hold me, hold me / And never let me go until you've told me, told me / What I want to know and then just hold me, hold me / Make me tell you I'm in love with you". Quite the challenge.
They then go on a walk down a shadowy lane where there are other lovers hidden, too (?) which sounds quite disreputable, but who am I to judge...
She then sings about how people told her to be sensible and not fall too hard for her lover: "But they never stood in the dark with you, love / When you take me in your arms / And drive me slowly out of my mind". And the drum build up on that last line adds just enough intensity to really sell that last line.
And, finally, if you hadn't got just how bad Muriel has the hots, the little sigh after the final "never let me go" is a dead giveaway. Oof.
This feels like an aquired taste, to be honest. The drama of it, and Muriel Smith's voice isn't my favourite thing ever, but I am living for the drama and the pure horniness of it all, all wrapped up in quite an elegant package.
Terry's Theme from Limelight - Frank Chacksfield (2)
I started this track very excited, because Frank Chacksfield brought us the lunacy that was Little Red Monkey. I was keen to see what this maverick of electronic music might have for us next. I was on the edge of my metaphorical seat. I eagerly searched it up. And then... this happened.
It's not bad. It's quite pleasant, all things considered. It's a sweeping piece of orchestral film music. But it's no Little Red Monkey. It's generically pleasing at best, and bland at worst.
There's something very classical about it, like it's based on something well-known, but I can't quite work out what. Or perhaps it's just become well known in and of itself, like the sort of thing they play on Classic FM? I can hum a whole snatch of the thing it reminds me of, but I can't match that with a composer, which is really annoying.
Either way, it's a cover of a song that did originally have lyrics, and lyrics sung by none other than Charlie Chaplin, in the song Limelight, and as ever when there's a song from a film, I'm going to have to look up the film and decide if I'd go to see it.
So, Limelight (1952). A film set in 1914 wherein a washed up literal clown stops a failed dancer from committing suicide and helps her get her career underway again. She falls for him, even as he continues to fail at being a clown, but he thinks she'd be better with another character, leaves her to become a street performer, is persuaded to give it another go and then dies of a heart attack (?!). This is billed as a comedy-drama, but I'm not seeing much comedy here, to be honest. I'd still possibly go see it, it sounds like an emotional rollercoaster.
Actually, that makes this song actually work. It's sad, but in an understated way, and has some real emotional swings, and knowing the story that goes with it actually does sell me on it a bit more.
Only a bit, though. I want more claviolines, damnit!
So, a field of three, all very different, all weird versions of various early 1950s trends we have seen so far. First Eddie with a particularly creepy take on the earnest and soupy "I'll love you forever" ballad, then Muriel with a particularly raunchy, but still perfectly-enunciated sentimental easy-listening standard, then a slightly overwrought bit of instrumental film scoring from Frank. Of them all, Eddie amused me most, I have to say, but not for the right reasons. So:
Favourite song of the buch: Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me

The Haunting of Maddy Clare (Simone St James, 2012)
CW: the sexual assualt and later suicide of the titular character are major elements of the book; there is also an explicit sex scene between the main couple but the context makes it feel more dubious than I think the author intended
Plot: A mere few years after the end of World War I, Sarah Piper is hired as an assistant to Alistair Gellis, rich eccentric ghost researcher, alongside the temperamental already-present assistant Matthew Ryder. Together they investigate the case of Maddy Clare, a nineteen-year-old maid who is rumored to still haunt her employer's home after her recent death and seems to be especially hostile to men.
Spooks: the ghost stuff was mostly well done. The atmosphere is uneasy and Sarah is quite reasonably spooked. Maddy is angry and hurting and I don't blame her for being so hostile. Didn't like her dialogue, it felt very "Crazy=Dangerous=Monster" in a way that just felt generic horror villain which doesn't sit right knowing that this is a traumatized victim. Also the weird obsession with Alistair that could have worked but wasn't set up or explained well.
Romance: Sarah and Matthew have a Hallmark-level romance but it isn't even decent Hallmark. Every conversation until the last third features some kind of misunderstanding they don't resolve. More than once Matthew crosses some kind of boundary, including when they barely know each other and Sarah's narration has already mentioned worries about abuse from employers, seemingly just to make her uncomfortable; and no, I don't think pressuring her into half-undressing supposedly to look at her ghost bruises but really as petty revenge for accidentally walking in on him and seeing his burn scars is equivalent. Throughout most of the book Sarah is convinced he hates her, even after they have sex, and I don't find their bond compelling enough to make up for it.
Sex Scene: On a technical level, it's fine. I've read worse (and better) in fanfiction. BUT Matthew enters her room in the middle of the night, he just climbs right in while she's still a little groggy, and there is absolutely no dialogue until afterwards. And it's framed as completely consensual, which is good I guess, but I really hate that there's no talking between a couple that has had so many prior misunderstandings! All they had to do, is say "I couldn't sleep/was having nightmares" and "do you need a distraction?" That's it, just a bit of ultimately unsatisfying comfort sex that doesn't feel like it's edging into dubious consent. And as an extra dick move, Sarah doesn't get to climax before he abruptly leaves and is left wondering if he is actually attracted to her or if she was just conveniently nearby. Later sex scene is leagues better.
Trio: Sarah, Matthew, and Alistair have some fun banter in the second half but I wish the dynamic felt consistent. Like early on it seems to be setting up as Alistair the self-centered and his assistants having to look out for each other, but then it switches to an actual team dynamic with Matthew and Alistair being old friends and Alistair being a bit of a prick but not really. Wish the dynamic was either more consistent or had steady development.
Sarah: not the most compelling POV. Alternates between being timid or having a backbone, and even her backbone moments are quickly followed by timid embarrassment. Also very insecure about her looks, comparing herself to Mrs. Barry (Alistair's sort-of former girlfriend who is the ideal 1920s beauty) and wondering if her male companions find her attractive. Her personal trauma is the weakest of the leads, as I forgot it was a thing until her sudden breakdown, but I think there's some implication that her father's sudden illness related death and her mother's resulting suicide led to her current reserved outlook. Like the idea, wish it was more developed.
War Trauma: Matthew and Alistair were both soldiers in WWI and are both coping with those scars (both physical and mental). Matthew has nightmares that keep him up at night. Alistair has a full-on flashback episode caused by Maddy later that is recognized as shell shock and treated respectfully. There is thankfully acknowledgment that romance won't fix the trauma.
Disability: Alistair has some kind of leg injury that causes a mild limp. I don't recall mention of a cane, and his status as higher society could probably let him use the excuse of looking classy, but maybe he doesn't need one. Some writing weirdness when he chooses to take a 20 minute walk instead of a carriage, with no acknowledgment that it might bother his leg despite that occuring in the first chapter; it does later mention that he's feeling sore but no reflection on him pushing his limits and his emotions on it. Matthew has severe burn scarring on his back and arms, and is notably uncomfortable with Sarah seeing it during their second sex scene, which they still fail to discuss beyond arguing about whether or not to keep his shirt on, because even by the climax of the book I'm not convinced they can hold an open conversation.
Grade: 3 out of 5 stars

플렉스홀덤 #41 $25K BUY-IN $500 - $2000 HANDS Good Action with Lots of Doubles and Tons of 플렉스홀덤s
one fascinating thing about blackjack is it has 52 cards in a deck, and surprisingly, there are 52 weeks in a year.If the player wins and the dealer does qualify the Ante bet is paid at 1 to 1 and the Call bets is paid according to the following paytable; Casinos running on the GameSys software platform offer an alternative version of Caribbean Stud Poker called ‘Caribbean Advanced Poker’. The videos played and light patterns can also give players a general idea of what their odds of winning are. The ball bounces from pin to pin, both slowing the fall and making it travel laterally across the field.
He is sitting on a block of stone on which are carved hieyroglyphics and is surrounded by instruments or products of the Arts.Straight flush pays either 10% of the displayed progressive jackpot or pays $5,000 (licensee chooses payout option at the time the game is put into play); Four of a kind pays $500,Full house pays $100,Flush pays $50. The opposite is also allowed. By default place and buy bets are not working without an established point; a player may wish to wager chips before a point has been established. The dealer will then deal a 5-card hand face down to themselves with one major difference:They will flip one card (typically the last) over to display face up
There are several advantages associated with a live session. For example, you can see the deck of cards shuffled after every round and that gives you a certain peace of mind. Everything is displayed digitally and that very thing eliminates any kind of possible human error. If a player does hit bingo in the right number of numbers then they win all the money in the jackpot. The courts are double-headed, split diagonally, with their names usually stated in full length (note the spelling Under, which differs from the german Unter, according to the dialect locally spoken, known as Swiss German). Among the personages, the under of Bells looks like a jester whose hood resembles the petals of a flower. Caribbean Stud Poker is a Poker alternative - the first casino table game to offer a progressive jackpot. It is based on the traditional Five Card Stud Poker game, where you pit your hand against the House.

These are bets that the number bet on will be rolled before a 7 is rolled. The dealer also deals themselves one card face up. 플렉스홀덤It was on 22nd October 1628 that Charles I granted the charter to the Company of the Mistery of Makers of Playing Cards of the City of London, and from 1st December that year all future importation of playing cards was forbidden. But in video poker, the payoff for three of a kind is usually 3-for-1.
If your vision of casino players is James Bond, in a tux, at Monte Carlo, forget it.The house advantages in casino games are narrow enough to produce winners -- lots of winners, in fact -- every day.The luck factor in a casino game is quantified using standard deviations (SD). Casinos want to keep their best customers coming back.
Although many professionals advise this, taking insurance more often than not lands you with a loss.If a player is playing don't pass instead of pass, they may also lay odds by placing chips behind the don't pass line.About 75 percent of a convenience casino’s win (i.e., money lost by patrons), derives from slot machines, rather than tables games such as poker or craps. A computer chip in each machine determines the percentage of payout.
One well-known instance is the casting of lots by Roman guards (which in all likelihood meant that they threw knucklebones) for the garment of Jesus during the Crucifixion. There are also floating casinos operating on boats and barges on waterways across the country.State-licensed or state-operated lotteries expanded rapidly in Europe and the United States during the late 20th century and are widely distributed throughout most of the world. The joker is fully wild and substitutes to make stronger hands. The inclusion of the wild joker also adds another winning hand in 5-of-a-kind.
It can also be known as a "square pair", "mom and dad", or "Ozzie and Harriet".Other systems depend on the gambler's fallacy, which in craps terms is the belief that past dice rolls influence the probabilities of future dice rolls. This bet must be at least the table minimum and at most the table maximum. Happy Birthday! I wish you have lots of joy and blessings, better times and good vibes for you! Hopefully you haven't answered these: which Alternate Universe/Franchise do you feel Heid would fit in? Which one would you like for him to be in the most? Also, what would he have been if he wasn't involved with Shinra (or the military in general)?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is how slow i am - slow at even answering my own BIRTHDAY messages dslkngskldgn ; but thank you, friend ! i had a lovely day ~
to answer your questions -!
an alternative universe / franchise that i think heidegger would fit would definitely be anything that features a big evil cooperation or something with a powerful group of people ( basically, anywhere that heid can fit in as a supervillain of some sort ). i'd love to write him more in the resident evil verse, maybe form a specific plotline / verse for him alongside another writer. or, i'd love to write him in the james bond universe ( as a villain of course! ). otherwise, i was watching mad max earlier and had the awful brainworm of heid in a post-apocalyptic leather-wearing setting. that'd be fun!
when it comes to the final fantasy vii universe; my headcanon around heid is that he joined the military initially because of his father's influence ( and he didn't...exactly...want to ). but in his own time, he was a keen fisher and played rugby.
so, i think if heid hadn't had gone down the path he went down...he would have either been a fisherman or a rugby player ( up until age would have him stop ). a part of me would actually /love/ to one day explore a universe in which heid never went to work for shinra / the military.
