Traditions are for Everyone
Traditions Are For Everyone by Burnt Ashes
So, you know that tumblr post about Fleur giving Molly a jumper for Christmas since she doesn't seem to make one for herself? Well, the screenshot of that post showed up on my Pinterest feed again and I ran with it. I don't know the OP, but the idea belongs to them, I'm just elaborating off of it. I'm putting this is my Hinny short story series, but all the ships are pretty minor.
I don't own these characters, they belong to JKR, whom I do not support.
Anyways, enjoy!

Hi 👋🏽
For the drunk prompts, I just totally see Hermione saying this to Ronniekins"I've always loved you. But I will never tell you."
Hi there, anon! Thanks so much for this prompt. It took me a while but here it is!
I really enjoyed writing this and I hope you enjoy reading 😊🍻🍹🥃
Prompt: “I’ve always loved you. But I will never tell you” from @creativepromptsforwriting’s drunken love confessions prompt list here
Amidst the neon lights
Summary: Ron experiences the challenges of keeping his partying friends in check, especially his girlfriend, who experiences her first episode of excessive drinking.
Amidst the neon glow of the club and the smell of alcohol lingering in the air, a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and music enveloped the small group of friends. The past months had been tough on everyone, Auror Training and N.E.W.T.S. had taken a toll on all of them, and tonight was about letting go.
As the night unfolded, Ron watched how Hermione found herself lost in the rhythm of the music, swaying to the beat with an almost contagious energy.

At last, I drew out the confession scene with Slytherin Hermione and Gryffindor Ron.
• S!Hermione confesses to Ron Weasley but a direct approach... with others to witness.
Hermione: Hey Weasley!
Ron: ... ?
Hermione: (bluntly) I like you.
Ron: (blushes) H-Huh?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I messed up on Ron's hair color at the last panel. Oops.
Sorry Dramione fans. It's one sided in this AU. At least you got some Dramione crumbs, though it's one sided :)
Also thanks for trying out the poll. I was happy to see the results in the end.

For someone who never tags side pairings (and I love you for that, you're an angel <3) you still write some of the best Romione I've ever read. Cheers!
LOL thank you for saying so!! i don't know if i agree (hence why i'd never tag them in the relationships field, and also because that's shitty tagging etiquette for romione fans!!!) but i appreciate it!!

Thoughts on Ron and Hermione as a ship?
thank you very much for the ask, @thesilverstarling!
i’ll state my position straight away: book ron and hermione are the best of the canon couples.
they will have a long and extremely happy marriage made rich by great and stalwart love, lust, fun, and faithfulness, rather than held together by duty and couples’ therapy like so many readers and authors (including jkr, who seems to have decided to spend the years since the conclusion of the series failing to understand anything about her own characters) tend to think.
i will state another position straight away: lest i seem like i’m just a fan with blinkers on, i think this even though hermione is, by far, my least favourite member of the trio. if she were real i would detest her, and i dislike how she is treated by the narrative as always justified in her negative characteristics. i like fanon hermione - perfect and preternaturally good - even less.
as a result, i think that it’s ridiculous that jkr has said that she thought ron needed to ‘become worthy’ of hermione. they belong together as equals - which is what they’re set up in the narrative as being from the off - and i hate seeing that undermined.
because ronald weasley? he’s an icon. and he doesn’t get anywhere near the respect he deserves in fandom.
there are multiple reasons for this - ron’s narrative purpose is to be the everyman sidekick, and so he is able to be less special than harry or hermione (the helper-figure); the amount of aristocracy wank in this fandom means that the weasleys’ ordinariness is less appealing to writers than making harry have twenty different lordships and call himself hadrian; the narrative interrogates ron’s flaws - especially his capacity for jealousy - much more intensively than it interrogates either hermione’s (cruel, inflexible, meddling) or harry’s (reckless, self-absorbed, judgemental) - but one i feel is particularly significant is that ron is such a british character that many of his traits are not understood as intended by non-british readers.
in particular - as is outlined in this excellent meta by @whinlatter - ron’s sense of humour isn’t indicative of immaturity or a lack of seriousness, but is, in fact, evidence that he’s the most emotionally aware of the trio.
ron is shown throughout the series to understand how both harry and hermione need to have their emotions approached - and i think there is no piece of writing which says this better than crocodile heart by @floreatcastellumposts:
That was what she liked most about Ron, she thought vaguely. He was very good at being suitably outraged on your behalf. For Harry, for her, for Neville. That sort of thing mattered, when you were hurt or embarrassed or wronged in some way. You needed to have someone else on your side, to be as emotional as you felt, maybe even more so, so that you might feel a bit more normal. It was very decent of him, and she was not sure he realised he did it.
ron’s inherent emotional awareness is an enormous source of comfort to other people. he does the work which isn’t flashy or special - he makes tea and tells jokes and is just there - but which is needed in healthy human relationships far more frequently than a willingness to fight to the death for the other person.
[as an aside, this normality - even though i think it is assumed rather than justified by the text - is also what ginny provides for harry. if you believe that hinny are a good couple but romione aren’t… i can’t help you.]
but let’s look at some specific reasons why ron and hermione belong together:
their communication styles mesh perfectly. ron is the only person hermione knows who feeds her love of being challenged and debated, and who is able to engage in this way of communicating without becoming irate when she refuses to back down. ron is good at picking his battles, but he’s also good at recognising that hermione’s tendency to argue isn’t intended to be confrontational a lot of the time - it’s just the way she works through feelings and problems. he’s far more easy-going about her tendency to nag, interrupt, try to provoke arguments, or speak condescendingly than he’s given credit for - and hermione evidently respects this, since when he does tell her not to push a situation (above all, when she’s trying to needle harry into talking about sirius), she listens to him.
that ron and hermione’s tendency to bicker is taken by fans to be a bad thing is because it’s something harry - from whose perspective the narrative is written - doesn’t understand. harry is extremely conflict-avoidant - he tends to take being pushed on views and opinions he has to be insulting; and he has a tendency to assume that he is right which is just as profound as hermione’s. he and ginny communicate not by debating, but by ginny having no time for his rigidity and refusing to indulge it - but ron and hermione bickering about everything is not a negative thing within their specific emotional dynamic.
[as another aside, this glaring chasm in communication styles is why harry and hermione would be a disaster as a couple.]
they each provide validation the other needs. it’s clear - reading between the lines - that hermione is a tremendously lonely person. the friendlessness of her initial few weeks at hogwarts seems to be a continuation of her experience as a child, and - outside of ron and harry - that friendlessness endures through her schooldays. i’m always struck, for example, by the fact that, when she falls out with ron in prisoner of azkaban, she has no-one else to spend time with, and that this is only avoided in half-blood prince because harry decides not to freeze her out. i don’t think her friendship with ginny is anywhere near as close as fanon seems to imply (ginny has no interest in being nagged either), nor do i think that she’s anywhere near as close to neville (not least because she is so condescending to him) as she’s often written to be.
and this loneliness seems to stretch beyond hogwarts. the absence of hermione’s parents’ from the narrative is - in a doylist sense - clearly just a device to maximise time with the trio all together, but the watsonian reading is that she doesn’t have a particularly good relationship with them. hermione’s obviously upper-middle-class background - the name! the skiing! the holidays in the south of france! - can be presumed, i think, to come with a series of expectations from her parents which she feels constantly that she’s not entirely meeting, particularly expectations attached to academic success.
[for example, the grangers - were she a muggle child - would undoubtedly have ambitions for her to attend an elite university and then go into a prestigious career. tertiary education of the type that they’re familiar with doesn’t seem to exist in the wizarding world - most careers seem to be taught by apprenticeship - and this, alongside all the other divides between the magical and muggle worlds which contribute to the distance between them, would be one very obvious area in which she felt the need to prove herself to them.]
ron, too, has quite a difficult relationship with his position in the family - voldemort’s locket is not wrong to point out that he seems to receive considerably less of his mother’s emotional attention than ginny or the rest of his brothers - and he too is constrained by expectations which he doesn’t know how to explain he has no interest in - above all, molly’s desire for her sons to achieve top grades and go into the ministry.
he also suffers while at hogwarts from being ‘harry potter’s best friend’, something which harry never appreciates. but hermione does. she recognises ron’s jealousy and never allows harry to minimise it (and she and ron are very much aligned on having no respect for harry’s saviour and martyr complexes). she appreciates ron’s strengths - above all his kindness and his sense of humour - and makes him feel as though he’s achieved things with them. and ron does the same for her; he is hugely observant when it comes to her, and he challenges and defends her.
the two of them clearly spend a lot of time together one-on-one while harry’s involved in his various shenanigans (including outside of school - hermione has often arrived at the burrow days or even weeks before harry, and they seem to write to each other frequently when apart). they do this within a relationship which is fundamentally equal. one issue with hinny is that, post-war, harry is going to have to get used to seeing ginny as a peer, rather than as someone he has to protect. but ron and hermione never have that issue - equality is baked into their relationship from the off.
because, to be quite frank, fandom overstates the role that jealousy plays in their relationship. it’s true that ron certainly doesn’t acquit himself brilliantly when it comes to hermione’s relationship with viktor krum (it’s because he’s bi and doesn’t know it yet), and a tendency to externalise his insecurity into trying to make others also feel insecure is one of his primary negative traits (hermione does this too, via her patented lofty voice when she’s trying to condescend to people). but this is often taken as the initial red flag for how the relationship would crash and burn, and ron’s toxic jealousy is often used in fan-fiction as the trigger for emotional and physical violence towards hermione which, frequently, seems to drive her into the arms of either draco malfoy or severus snape… who are, of course, the first people we think of when we hear the words ‘not prone to jealousy’...
but i think it’s important to point out several things in defence of ron’s jealousy over krum. firstly, hermione evidently regards his jealousy as ridiculous - she’s upset by it, yes, but her upset must be understood as being caused by the fact that she wanted him to ask her out. she doesn’t think he’s being possessive, she thinks he’s being stupid. secondly, hermione is equally as jealous over ron’s crush on fleur delacour and relationship with lavender brown. she behaves just as cruelly when it comes to lavender as ron does when it comes to krum - and the narrative only treats her actions as more sympathetic or justified both because harry dislikes lavender too, and because, by that point in the series, jkr has dispensed with any inclination to ever criticise her.
but, outside of this teenage pettiness, ron is never jealous of hermione over things which matter. he is never jealous of her intelligence or competence or ambition or success (indeed, he defends her constantly from attacks designed to undermine her in these areas). for someone who struggles with being overshadowed by harry, he is never upset at being overshadowed by her. he is clearly going to be happy to support her in any of the career ambitions she can be written as having post-war.
and, on this point, i think it’s worth interrogating why so many readers still seem to feel uncomfortable with the idea of ron and hermione having a dynamic where she is the more ‘powerful’ one. [it’s always a bit trite to say ‘but what if the genders were reversed?’, but actually that’s not irrelevant here]. if hermione ends up taking the ministry by storm and ron becomes a stay-at-home father or has a job which is just to pay the bills, what, precisely, is wrong with that? why, precisely, should hermione regard ron making that choice for himself as a negative thing? hermione so often seems to leave ron in fan-fiction because of a lack of ambition - something which seems to be particularly common in dramione - but, in canon, she is shown to not particularly care if ron and harry do the bare minimum when it comes to studying etc. she nags them to do their work so they don’t get in trouble. she doesn’t nag them to do it to the same standard that she would.
and, actually, i think that ron being less ambitious than hermione is something which is key to how well they work. because ron provides not only emotional support, but emotional clarity.
hermione is shown throughout canon to - just as harry does - have a tendency to become obsessive to the detriment of her own health. she is also often - as harry is - emotionally or intellectually inflexible, and finds it hard to move on when what she feels or believes is proven to be wrong. both she and harry are micro-thinkers, who lean towards knee-jerk assumptions and stubborn convictions (and, indeed, hermione has a remarkably hagrid-ish tendency towards blind loyalty).
ron is none of these things. ron is a big-picture thinker (it’s why he’s so good at chess). he’s a pragmatist. he’s the least righteous of the three. he understands that faith and loyalty are choices, and that sometimes these choices will lead to outcomes which are bad or hard. he is the one of the three most willing to own up to having made mistakes. he is the one least likely to act on gut instinct (and, therefore, the hardest to fool - i think it’s worth emphasising that he clocks that tom riddle is tricking harry immediately, the only one of the trio to do so). he understands that things are a marathon, not a sprint. he is the least obsessive.
and these traits contribute to aspects of his character which are underappreciated. ron worries about hermione making herself ill during exams, or when she is using the time-turner, and makes an effort to get her to set healthy boundaries and redirect her anxiety. ron stands on a broken leg in front of sirius or goes into the forest to fight aragog not out of righteousness, but out of choice. ron takes over the burden of preparing buckbeak’s defence when it is clear that hermione is approaching burnout. ron is completely right that harry hasn’t done any long-term planning for the horcrux hunt, and his anger does force harry to tighten up after he leaves the trio. ron has a clear head in the middle of battle. ron makes harry and hermione laugh. ron is unafraid of human emotion. ron arrests harry’s tendency to brood over the little things by looking at the bigger picture. ron will always come back.
ron is bringing his politician wife regular cups of tea and making sure she doesn’t work all night. he is helping his lawyer wife to feel less upset over losing one case by reminding her that she’s won ten others. he is noticing stress creeping in and whirling her off for a dirty weekend, or even just a takeaway on the sofa. he is teaching his daughter to be proud of her ambition and his son to treat women as equals and both of his children that all you can do when you fuck up is apologise and try to do better. he is making hermione smile on the worst days of her life. he is helping her strategise her long-term goals when she gets stuck on the short-term ones. he is telling her straight when she needs to get it together. he is seeing a misogynistic head of department call hermione a ‘silly little girl’ and choosing to tell him exactly what he thinks of that.
ron is the ultimate wife guy. hermione is a very, very lucky lady.

The Marauders: Bullies who sexually assaulted a person. Basically Draco Malfoy and his cronies who were shown the Light.
Fandom: Such feminists, I love them!
Draco: Human equivalent of garbage who bullied anyone with lower social status, and mocked an orphan. Also gladly joined the DE.
Fandom: So tragic! He had no choice, we love him! He deserved better.
Dursleys: Gross, shallow human beings who abused the orphan they were in charge of, and even starved that child (and only because Vernon's promotion was cancelled).
Fandom: They have a reasonable hatred, and Petunia is sympathetic!
Dudley Dursley: Actually apologizes for his behavior and abuse, unlike oh-so-great James Potter.
Fandom: Bad!
Ron Weasley: Brave kid who has commited countless selfless acts and protects his friends.
Fandom: Bad! Hermione deserved better! Wife beater! Predator! Hermione should have cheated on him with Harry!
Severus Snape: Also does brave, selfless acts, and is known by HIS ENEMY'S SON as the bravest man Harry ever knew. Proves he really loves Lily.
Fandom: Bad! He was obsessed with Lily and a creep and he stole Lily's patronus! He also bullied Neville!
Lavender Brown: Nice and caring, and gives Ron the affection he deserves. Also does countless brave acts, helps to round up Skrewts, and fights in the DA despite the danger.
Fandom: She should go, she is ruining our ships!1!1!1! (Side note: I do ship Romione, but this anti-Lavender bullshit should stop.)
Cho Chang: Cares about and loves her boyfriend, and simply wants to know how he died because she loves him. Also offers to take Harry to the Ravenclaw common room, and fights in the DA.
Fandom: So annoying, can't she stop crying about Cedric?

Roll up roll up, it's the Drarry Bridget Jones adaptation no one asked for!
This concept has been living rent free in my brain for months. I just had to get it out. Thank you so much to my little team of readers and betas: @getawayfox @citrusses @oknowkiss, thank you for indulging my crazy ideas and allowing me to write this nonsense.
Harry Potter's Most Miserable Year | Chapter One
Rating: E Relationships: Harry/Draco (endgame); Harry/Theo; past Draco/OMC, Minor Dean/Ginny, Minor Ron/Hermione, Minor Justin/Ernie, Minor Luna/Neville Tags: Endgame Drarry, EWE, POV Harry, Quidditch, Quidditch Manager Harry, Quidditch Player Draco, Sports Journalist Theo, Romantic Comedy, Romance, Diaries, New Year's Resolutions, Human Disaster Harry, Buttoned-up Draco, (a lot of) smoking, (a lot of) drinking, Recreational Drug Use, Explict Sexual Content, Banter, Pubs, London, Friendship, Charity Balls, Romione's naughty children, Dinner Parties, life in your 30s, Lying/Emotional Deceit, Smear Campaign, Infedeility (but not between Drarry)
After running into Malfoy at a New Year's Day party and overhearing some choice opinions he has on Harry’s character, Harry decides to change his life for good. Quit smoking, drink less, dress better, excel at his brand new role as Puddlemere’s manager, and find a nice, adult man he can settle down with. Sounds easy, right?
“What’s he like, then?” Ron asked a second later, suddenly at Harry’s side, plate piled high with turkey curry and rice.  Harry patted his pockets for his cigarettes. “A dickhead.” Ron laughed heartily. “Ha. I was right.”

Any text in italics has been taken directly from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Starts in the woods where they held the Quidditch World Cup. Somewhere enclosed, undercover, the first place Hermione thought of.
Enjoy :)
*********************************************************************************************************
It only took Hermione a second to regain her composure, scrambling to her knees amongst the fallen autumn leaves, wand raised. The brightly lit glade assaulted her eyes. But she forced herself to squint, desperate to assess the situation, to check for danger.
Yaxley wasn’t with them. Thank Merlin! So she had shaken him off at Grimmauld Place. That was…good…in a sense. Even though the tension in her shoulders relaxed slightly, they were, after all, out of immediate danger, she had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach. They wouldn’t be going back there today, tomorrow, maybe not ever. Grimmauld Place could hardly be described as home, but it had been a sanctuary, a safe place for the last few weeks. Now they were exposed, bare.
Harry was lying on his back nearby, one hand pinching the bridge of his nose, the other holding his glasses. He looked confused but he was moving so Hermione knew he was going to be ok. She frantically sought out Ron, her eyes landing on his figure lying motionless a bit further away.
Hermione momentarily froze, stuck on all fours, a rush of heat ran up her spine and fizzled at the back of her head as panic set in. The only movement was from her heaving chest as she took deep ragged breaths. She wasn’t sure if it was adrenaline, fear, or anticipation as she willed him to sit up but it felt like she couldn’t breathe.
He didn’t sit up. She watched horrified as a dark crimson bloom appeared on the borrowed shirt, the fabric soaking from beneath. It started at his upper left arm. Within seconds it seemed his whole left side was covered in red. Her heart lurched as he let out an agonised groan. It seemed to break the spell holding her in place, and she frantically jumped to her feet.
Hermione raced to Ron’s side and fell hard onto her knees beside him. There was so much blood, it was pouring out of him, the blue flannel turning a dark purple as it rapidly threaded the soft cotton. She wondered how long it would be until he had no more blood to bleed. She took in his pale complexion. He was as white as a ghost. His eyes screwed shut and his mouth opened in a silent scream of pain.
Hermione reached for the place where the bleeding had started and pulled at the fabric. The shirt tore easily like she was ripping a piece of ink-soaked parchment. She’d expected it to be more difficult to pull the material apart, her strength surprising her.
Harry had now realised something was wrong, very wrong. He crawled across the forest floor to join them. He watched as Hermione pulled back the cotton and revealed the damage to Ron’s arm. They both winced at the sight of the bloody mangled mess. To their absolute horror, Hermione and Harry realised there were huge chunks of Ron’s arm missing from shoulder to bicep. She felt nauseous looking at the exposed sinewy tissue that expelled more vital fluid with every pulse.
“What’s happened to him?” Harry asked nervously.
“Splinched.” She cried. Wasn’t it obvious!? Hermione applied pressure to the ghastly wound. Ignoring the grotesque feeling of flesh and hot blood against the palms of her hands. She needed to think fast, they could be about to lose their best friend. “Harry, quickly, in my bag, there’s a small bottle labelled Essence of Dittany.”
“Bag – right –” Harry was shoulder-deep in her purple beaded bag, it had only been seconds but it felt like hours. What in Merlin was taking him so long?
“Quickly!” She shouted desperately. Didn’t he realise Ron was bleeding out right in front of them?
“Accio dittany!” Harry finally shouted and scrambled back to them.
Hermione watched as a sense of calm came over Ron. She felt his entire body relax and sag beneath her hands. His eyes rolled back into his head leaving strips of white eyeball visible below half-closed eyes. ‘He’s not dead. He’s not dead. He’s not dead.’ She chanted in her mind. Harry offered the small brown bottle to her. But she shook her head, not wanting to take pressure off the wound until the last second.
“He’s fainted. Unstopper it for me, Harry, my hands are shaking.”
Once it was opened she raised her hands from his incomplete body. They were trembling, dripping with the viscous red liquid. She quickly rubbed them back and forth on her thighs, partly to wipe off the excess blood, but also to ground herself. She took a deep breath and clenched her fists in a bid to take control. Despite her clumsy hands she managed to take the bottle from Harry and drip…drip…drip the potion onto damaged flesh. It sizzled and emitted small puffs of purple smoke.
“Wow,” Harry breathed as the air cleared. He sounded impressed but she wasn’t. The skin healed rapidly over the trauma, taut and shiny. The bleeding had stopped, mercifully, but the gouges remained and she knew he’d already lost too much blood. She was terrified they’d been too late. She lowered her cheek to his lips and felt a soft breath. He was alive! He was breathing! That was all she knew right now. Time would tell if there was lasting damage.
“It’s all I feel safe doing. There are spells that would put him completely right, but I daren’t try in case I do them wrong and cause more damage…he’s lost so much blood already…” She knew the spells, had practised them before but she didn’t trust herself to do it right, not when she couldn’t stop shaking enough to pull the cork from a potion bottle. Not when she’d caused this.
“How did he get hurt? I mean, why are we here? I thought we were going back to Grimmauld Place?” Harry asked, looking around at the surrounding forest.
“Harry, I don’t think we’re going to be able to go back there.” She answered honestly suddenly on the brink of tears.
“What d’you –?”
Hermione cut him off, not wanting to delay her confession. “As we disapparated, Yaxley caught hold of me, and I couldn’t get rid of him, he was too strong, and he was still holding on when we arrived at Grimmauld Place, and then – well, I think he must have seen the door, and thought we were stopping there, so he slackened his grip and I managed to shake him off and I brought us here instead!
“But then, Where’s he? Hang on … you don’t mean he’s at Grimmauld Place? He can’t get in there?”
“Harry, I think he can. I – I forced him to let go with a revulsion jinx, but I’d already taken him inside the Fidelius charm’s protection. Since Dumbledore died, we’re secret keepers, so I’ve given him the secret, haven’t I? Harry, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!” She could see the disappointment on Harry’s face. The tears wanted to fall but she blinked them back defiantly, there were more important issues right now!
“Don’t be stupid, it wasn’t your fault!” He said but she didn’t believe it.
Suddenly Ron groaned, interrupting their conversation, reminding them that he needed them. They both watched him eagerly, hoping he was coming round, but he drifted straight back into unconsciousness.
“Let’s stay here for now.” Harry hastily decided and she found herself so grateful.
Hermione jumped to her feet to secure the area. She tried to focus on the spells she needed to cast but as she raised her hands she was almost sick at the sight of the deep red stains. She looked down at herself, she was covered in his blood. Another deep breath to push down the nausea and she set to work. “Salvio hexia … Protego totalum … Repello Muggletum … Muffliato…you could get out the tent Harry…”
“Tent?” He asked dumbly.
“In the bag!” Even in this stressful situation, she had to try hard not to roll her eyes. It hardly mattered, her back was to him as she circled the clearing casting protective wards. Did he not know how urgent it was that they make a safe place for Ron to recover?
“In the…of course.” Harry summoned the tent and started to pull apart ties and poles. This time Hermione most definitely rolled her eyes. Between the protective enchantments, she pointed her wand at the jumble of the tent.
“Erecto!” She shouted, Harry jumped backward as the tent magically constructed and grounded itself to the forest floor. He went inside, she could hear him casting charms and moving things to get the interior ready. A minute or so later he appeared at the entrance swearing profusely.
“Ugh ahh, fuck, something bit me.” He was shaking his left hand.
“What?” Hermione looked over at him as she finished securing the wards.
Harry only distracted her for a moment though. She glanced at Ron, he was shaking, convulsing on the darkened patch of soil, stained with his blood. She threw herself to the ground once more and wrestled off her jacket. She placed it over him, leaving her hand to linger on his chest. ‘Still beating, it’s still beating’, she silently whispered. Harry watched her, eyes wide with concern, then mimicked her actions. He handed her his folded coat and she gently lifted Ron’s head to place it as a pillow.
“His body’s going into shock.” She breathed, more to herself than anything. “We need to get him inside and warm.” She pleaded, turning to Harry again.
“Hermione there’s doxys…the beds are covered in them.” He said urgently.
“What!? Bring them outside Harry! Don’t let them infest the whole tent!” Hermione’s attention snapped back to him, and another wave of panic flooded her mind, constricting her airways. That tent was their backup plan, the only backup plan she had. There was nowhere else to go.
Hermione heard pops as Harry hit reduction charms on the bunk beds and single cot. He reappeared at the entrance. “What do we do?!” He called as he threw the matchbox-size bed frames into the clearing.
“I don’t know. Harry, I don’t know! But we need to get Ron inside right now! Wait…you’ve been bitten?! Doxys are highly venomous.” She eyed him as he sucked on the bite mark on his hand and jumped to her feet.
“I’m ok. It was only a wee one, barely broke the skin.” Hermione sighed, it would be just like Harry to overlook something insignificant and wind up dead from a Doxy. Then who would fight Voldemort? She grabbed his hand to check on the bite, thankfully it didn’t look to have infected him. It wasn’t deep or green and there was no symptomatic foaming pus.
“Ok, it must have been a juvenile, I think you’ll be fine.” She agreed.
“Do you have any doxycide?” Harry asked stupidly, obviously thinking of the long days spent cleaning Grimmauld Place with Mrs Weasley.
“What? No, I don’t have any doxycide! How silly of me to have overlooked packing sufficient cleaning supplies!” She shouted back at him, dropping his hand.
“Alright alright, sorry!” Harry held up his hands in defence. She knew he hadn’t meant to intentionally insult her, but it still stung. She’d packed everything for everyone and to be asked for something she didn’t have made her feel like a failure. “Let’s try stunning them. We’ll do the cot first. That way we can at least get him off the ground.”
“Ok.” Hermione hovered for a second, looking back to Ron. She bent down and stroked the hair from his forehead while Harry grabbed the tiny bed and placed it as far from Ron and the tent as possible while staying within her wards. “Let’s do this quickly.”
“Engorgio.” Harry cast and the cot grew to its full size.
Over the next few minutes, both Harry and Hermione tried to stun individual Doxies. They captured a few but there seemed to be hundreds more. The pests moved so fast, darting in and out of the bedding and burrowing into the mattress. Hermione could hardly concentrate on the task, throwing concerned glances at Ron almost constantly.  It was hopeless.
“It’s no use. Harry, I need to get back to him.” Hermione complained. She looked over to check on their best friend; desperate to touch him again, to check his breathing.
“Yeah, you’re right. There has to be a better way.” Harry grumbled.
“Wait! What about the knockback jinx?”
“The what?”
“Why didn’t I think of it before? Professor Flitwick taught it in first year. Try this.” In typical Hermione mentoring fashion, she squared her shoulders, flourished her wand, and cast the jinx. The swarm of doxy’s were pushed from the bed into the open, but as soon as the charm ended they zoomed back into the bedding.
“Brilliant Hermione! Do that again. I’ll stun them from this side.” Harry ran around the cot and stood ready.
Between them, Hermione jinxed the Doxys from the bed and cast a shielding charm so they couldn’t return to where they’d set up home. Harry stunned and grabbed them. As ever they worked well as a team and 15 minutes later the cot was Doxy-free. After cleaning and sanitisation charms it was ready for Ron. Harry once again reduced the cot to a manageable size and re-enlarged it in its rightful place within the tent.
“Finally.” Hermione cried as she raced to Ron again. “Help me, Harry.”
Ron was drifting in and out of consciousness as they half lifted, half dragged him inside. He was ghostly white with a horrible tinge of green. Once they’d got him onto the bed she cast a warming charm. Hermione and Harry stood for a moment watching him, considering what to do next.
Finally, Harry spoke up and voiced the worries she had. “I don’t think he should be left alone. Felt like that took forever to sort one cot, how about we deal with the bunk beds tomorrow or whenever he’s a bit better? We can sleep in the armchair?” Hermione nodded in agreement. “You know more healing magic than I do. I think you should stay with him. I’ll keep watch outside.”
“That makes sense I guess.” She nodded again, thankful that she wouldn’t have to leave his side.
Harry reached out and gave her shoulder a squeeze. “You’ve done a great job, Hermione. He’d be dead without your quick thinking.”
Hermione couldn’t help but break down in tears, Harry being nice to her seemed to open the floodgates. “No Harry. I’m the reason Ron’s been hurt. I let him get splinched. It’s my fault we can’t go back to Grimmauld Place. I haven’t packed any food or…or doxycide and I’m so so sorry.” She sobbed, hiding her face in her hands.
“Hey, hey don’t be silly, you’ve been amazing. We’re lucky we all made it out of the ministry alive.” Harry gently pulled her hands away and ducked to make eye contact. He tried to console her with a much-needed hug. “I can’t believe you’ve been carrying around a tent this whole time. I don’t know what we’d do without you, Hermione. Really. We’re lucky to have you!” He pulled back and held her shoulders.
“Thank you.” She sniffed. “I’m sorry, it all just feels a bit much right now.”
“Yeah, I know. Look, I’ll see if I can find something to eat. You keep an eye on Ron.” Hermione nodded sadly, her gaze drifting back to their red-headed best friend as Harry disappeared through the tent flap.
“Wait! Harry?” She suddenly shouted.
“Yeah.” His head appeared back at the entrance.
“We can’t leave him covered in…we need to clean him up.”
“Right, yeah.” Harry agreed looking confused.
“Well umm…don’t you think you should undress him?” She asked nervously.
“Err…I think you got it covered.” He said quickly and disappeared without waiting for an answer.
Hermione blinked at the tent entrance, her vision blurry from the previous tears. She wiped her eyes as she shook her head in disbelief. For goodness SAKE Harry Potter…I guess I’ll do everything myself, she thought.
Taking a deep breath she knelt beside Ron’s cot to take a proper look at him. She wasn’t sure if he was sleeping or passed out again. It felt surreal to be this close to him, to properly take time to look at him. And she was meant to, she was meant to keep watch over him. She had a proper excuse this time. She reached over and pushed the hair away from his eyes, letting her fingers trail down from his temple along his jaw. He looked so peaceful and handsome, even if he was out of it and had leaves and twigs sticking out of his red hair.
The thought crossed her mind that she needed to touch him, in her nursemaid capacity of course. Purely to help his healing process. She’d already torn his shirt to put dittany on the wound but she wanted to remove the blood-stained garments. Too gruesome a reminder of the danger they had just faced.
She leaned over and slowly unbuttoned his shirt. Button by button she revealed pale skin speckled with freckles, allowing her fingertips to brush against his chest and stomach as she worked. It was just as she’d imagined him to look. It was unfortunate that he was unconscious. She’d pictured him whole and a willing participant in such undressing fantasies. Keeping a careful eye that she wasn’t disturbing him she pulled the shirt from beneath the belt buckle and carefully peeled the torn material from his skin. She moved slowly, especially where it was stuck with dried blood. When his injured arm was free she used magic to banish what remained of the blood-soaked item.
She gasped at the sudden sight of him. She’d rarely seen his naked chest, maybe once or twice at The Burrow when they’d all gone swimming in the pond, but on those occasions, she had made a concerted effort not to stare. Now she had the opportunity to appreciate his broadened chest, strong from playing Quidditch. He’d really started to develop into his once lanky frame, he was more solid, more muscular now. His chest had a light smattering of red hairs which thickened below his navel running a trail that disappeared below the stolen trousers. She blushed at the thought of where it ended. His creamy white skin was interrupted by pale freckles and stained by blood. The whole of his left arm, from fingertips to shoulder, was almost dark brown. It changed to bright crimson across the left of his rib cage and eventually faded to a dull pink as the stain spread outwards to his neck, right pectoral and stomach.
She conjured a basin of warm water with a sponge and proceeded to clean the blood from his upper body. There were spells she could use but she wanted to tend to him properly. Doing it the muggle way gave her something to focus on, something to keep her hands occupied. It felt almost intimate giving him this sponge bath. She watched how little rivers of water moved over his skin as she gently washed away the blood. It took quite a while, the dried blood taking some time to remove from creases of skin and body hair.
Once he was thoroughly cleaned and patted dry with a soft towel she noticed his older scars, little shiny crescent shapes ghosting up his arm branching across his shoulder. She knew he’d been hurt the last time they’d broken into the Ministry of Magic, the tentacles of those horrid brains attaching themselves to him. She’d seen him bandaged in the hospital wing as they both recovered. But she couldn’t think if she’d ever seen these pale scars up close before. He mostly wore long-sleeved tops and school robes so she rarely had a chance. Tracing over crescents lightly with her fingers, she wondered if he was self-conscious of them. She thought they made the most beautiful pattern even if they did come from another life-threatening event.
Working her way to his new wound she saw it was weeping slightly and looked an angry red. When she touched the surrounding skin it was hot, which concerned her. Summoning the dittany she dropped a little where the flesh had reopened.
Hermione walked her fingers down the trail of ginger hairs on his stomach and blushed as she unbuckled the belt. Careful, not just to be gentle, but to prevent touching anything forbidden. She paused then summoned a blanket to pull over him, not prepared to intrude any further. If she ever got the opportunity to see what was below Ron’s waist she definitely wanted him conscious and consenting. She certainly wouldn’t want him to look at her most intimate areas without her knowledge. So she held the blanket in place with one hand and used her wand in the other to banish the belt then trousers, replacing them with a comfortable set of pyjama bottoms she’d retrieved from the beaded bag.
She left him topless, rationalising that she needed to keep an eye on the injury. She fashioned a sling from a clean tea towel in the hope it would restrict his movements when he woke and pulled the blanket up over his chest, tucking in his right side.
Hermione was satisfied that she’d done all she could for him at the moment, pleased to see him tucked up in bed no longer bloody or shaking. She pottered around the tent, sorting their things, and unpacking what they may need. She brought Harry a cup of tea and he offered up mushrooms he’d managed to forage for dinner.
She never left Ron for longer than a minute or two. Constantly checking to see if he was developing a temperature, which would be a sure sign of infection. But he lay peacefully all afternoon. She was anxious waiting for him to wake up but she finally pulled the armchair close to his cot and settled to reread the healer’s texts she’d packed. Checking to see if there was anything else she could do for him.
It was hard to concentrate on the textbooks and she found herself just aimlessly watching him. When she tended the wound hours later he stirred.
“Er…my…nee?” He whispered.
“Yes Ron, I’m here. How are you feeling?”
“Sore…th…thirsty.”
“Here, have some water.” Hermione used one hand to lift his head and held a glass of water to his lips. He sipped it down slowly.
“Wha…happened?” He said, sounding groggy.
Hermione started to explain but he dozed off again within seconds. She watched him for a few minutes to see if he’d come around again before deciding to tell Harry.
“Harry, he woke up for a moment there.”
“Yeah?” Harry smiled looking relieved.
She nodded. “He’s confused and weak which is understandable. I’ve been through all the healing books I brought. With that much blood loss, I was afraid he was at risk of organ failure but I don’t see any signs of anything shutting down.” Harry winced. “And I don’t think there’s an infection. All we can do is let him rest.”
“Thanks, Hermione. I’m glad you’re here, I wouldn’t have a clue.” Harry’s statement should have reassured her but all she felt was guilt. If she hadn’t been with them it wouldn’t have happened. There was no use dwelling on that now though.
“So. What now Harry? We haven’t even talked about the locket. At least we got it…it wasn’t all for nothing.”
“Yeah, I’ve been trying everything I can think of to destroy it. But it’s been no use.” He pulled it out from beneath his jumper to show her.
“You’re wearing it?” She said shocked.
“Yeah. We can’t let it out of our sight.”
“OK, so we’ll take turns? Keeping watch and wearing the locket?”
“Yeah, I guess so. Until we figure out what to do with it.”
“Right well it must be my turn. You’ve been out here for hours.”
“No! Can you…err…stay with Ron? You know what you’re doing there. I’ll try to stay up tonight. I don’t think I could sleep anyhow.” Hermione furrowed her brow. She knew she was exhausted but Harry must be too. There was no way he could stay up all night. As if reading her mind he answered. “If I’m falling asleep on duty I’ll come get you? Go on, he’s been alone long enough.”
Those words convinced her. She gave him a weak nod and a grateful smile before returning to the tent. Inside she brushed her teeth and got ready for bed before taking up residence in the armchair. She tucked the blanket tightly around her and settled to try and sleep. It wasn’t comfortable and she was cold. She was also too worried about Ron to let herself relax long enough to let sleep come. Instead, she stared at him. Watching his chest rise and fall rhythmically gave her a sense of calm. There was a weight of longing in her chest, and as the evening grew darker it seemed to get heavier.
Finally, she jumped up and walked to the other side of Ron’s cot. “This is ridiculous.” She muttered to herself and waved her wand. “Engorio.” She watched Ron’s face anxiously for any sign of pain as the bed grew by about a foot in all directions. Then, checking that the tent entrance was still closed, Hermione lifted the blankets and slipped in beside Ron, nuzzling against his right side.
It wasn’t quite comfortable, not close enough. So she pulled his right arm away from his body and manoeuvred into the gap it created. Lying on her left side she very gently rested her head on his right shoulder and placed her arm across his chest, constantly searching his face for any sign of him waking or causing him pain. His body was so lovely and warm, she could feel his heart beating under her hand and his breath moving her hair. She knew it was madness, completely ridiculous to lie so intimately with him while he was unconscious, but she needed it. His proximity and his smell finally soothed her. It gave her the confirmation she needed that he was alive, still with them.
“Ron…Ron…I’m so sorry.” She whispered. “I didn’t mean for you to get hurt. I’m pretty sure you’re going to be ok but it’s going to leave a nasty scar. No…that’s not even the right word. It’s more than a scar…there are huge, deep chunks of your arm missing. Oh, Ron, it’s awful! I tried my best, I really did, but I don’t know how to fix you up properly. Maybe if we ever go back to any sense of normalcy a specialist at St Mungo’s will be able to heal you fully. But that isn’t really an option right now. I don’t know if we’ll ever get there, I don’t know if there’s going to be an after all of this.” Tears pooled in her eyes again. “It isn’t all bad though, maybe you’ll like it, a heroic sacrifice while you helped to save the wizarding world. You’ll have witches falling at your feet.” She sniffed and tried to laugh despite the looming sadness.
“We can’t even go back to Grimmauld Place, Ron. Yaxley took hold of me when we tried to escape and I’m sure I’ve let him past the fidelius charm. So now we’re stuck in a tent…for Merlin knows how long.”
“Ron…I hope you don’t mind me getting in beside you. We’ve only got one bed at the moment. I wasn’t comfortable in the armchair and it’s a bit cold. But you’re lovely and warm…” She whispered again, pensive. “Who am I kidding…I really just want to be close to you. I’ve wondered…what it would be like to lie in your arms. It’s nice. It’s really really nice.” She trailed her hand over his chest, hair tickling her fingers as she mapped his freckles.
“I’m not sure what’s going to happen next, Ron. We got the locket though, so at least it wasn’t for nothing. But we don’t know how to destroy it. I guess we’ll figure it out. Somehow. We have to. It’s just us now, just the three of us.” A lump caught in her throat and a tear leaked down her cheek onto his chest.
“I’m terribly sorry, I didn’t mean for us to end up like this. I’m so sorry you got hurt again. It’s only been 6 months since I was last talking to your unconscious self. You do like to get yourself hurt or poisoned far too frequently you idiot!” Hermione gave a sad giggle. “I must say, Ron, you are an extremely good listener while you’re unconscious. I…umm…I care about you very very much. I’m pretty sure I’m in love with you. I don’t know what I’d do if…” She wiped her eyes and used her sleeve to dry the pool of tears she’d left on him. “Today’s really scared me and I have this horrible feeling it’s only going to get worse, much much worse. I’m not sure there is going to be an after, for one or other of us. But Ron there has to be. Please say it’s going to be ok. Once all of this is over I hope we can talk…about…us. Properly talk about us.” Hermione sniffed and snuggled into his nook further. She couldn’t help but think how well they fitted together. She closed her eyes listening to his breathing, feeling his heartbeat, enjoying his warmth. She didn’t know what was going to happen but right now, in this moment she had him.
Hermione wasn’t sure when she fell asleep but she woke in the dead of the night and realised Ron was stirring. She froze, she hadn’t meant to stay in his bed, and certainly hadn’t planned on being caught.
“H…Hermione?” Ron croaked in the darkness.
“Yes.” What else could she say? She leaned up on her elbow to check on him.
“W…water?”
Hermione sat up properly, grabbing her wand stowed under the pillow. She conjured a glass and filled it before helping him to drink again. This time he gulped down three full glasses before laying back against the pillow, slightly out of breath from the exertion. She didn’t know what to do. Should she slip out of the bed and take her place back in the armchair? Or…or what…he was awake and aware. It was completely absurd that he’d want her in his bed. Especially since he was feeling so unwell, she’d been selfish to do this. She twisted on her bum to slide out of the cot.
Suddenly she felt his right arm wrap around her waist and pull her back into him. Her heart almost burst from her chest as she took it as an invitation to stay. Tomorrow they’d pretend this never happened but for now she resumed her position and cuddled in close. It was even better than earlier with his arm now draped around her shoulders. She lay there thinking, heart thundering. He didn’t mind that she was here, didn’t mind she was so close to him. Not only that but he seemed to want her there.
“Hermione?” His voice sounded stronger.
“Yes, Ron.” She asked nervously.
“Who changed my bottoms?” Ron asked. There was a long pause.
“Umm…I didn’t look.” She promised, holding her breath. Was he about to get mad? But all he did was give her shoulders a squeeze and lean his cheek to rest on top of her head.
Hermione relaxed again and decided this was the best place to be in the whole world. She couldn’t stop her face breaking into a wide smile as she felt him fall back asleep, his breathing deepening and his grip slackening from around her. She almost wished the bed situation couldn’t be remedied, she’d happily fall asleep in Ron’s arms every single night.

Happy birthday to the one and only @writcraft! I know you probably feel this year hasn’t been as productive as you’d like fandom-wise, so this is both a reminder and a token of appreciation, a short rec list that hopes to highlight a little bit of your immense contribution to fandom. This is ofc 100% self-indulgent and my picks might be a bit too obvious - I doubt that anyone who’s been around for a while hasn’t heard of these classics before, but those who are new to the fandom (or just new to Writ’s works - I’m so jealous!) might enjoy this “starter pack” with my personal selection of must-reads.
There’s a little bit of everything: Drarry, Snarry, femslash, dark fic, kinky fic, angst with a happy ending, romcom, hurt/comfort. No matter the tone or trope, they’re not only perfectly thought out and executed but they also deliver profound human experiences that resonates within, and thought-provoking explorations of romance, queerness and hope. I have often wondered how Writ could be so prolific over the years, always impressing me with such flawless depth of characterization across different ships. Now I realize this comes from the amount of passion and research they pour into their work. Writ commits to fandom - and to writing - both intellectually and emotionally, bringing together their creative, fannish, militant and intellectual sides like nobody else can do. This combination breathes life and heart into every love story they create, making them all bright and unique, inspiring universal emotions while remaining deeply personal.
Writ, I cannot thank you enough for being such a kind, witty and welcoming friend, always up to discuss fandom meta, gritty fic plots, old and new ship obsessions, dog parenting, queer & pop culture references! I learn so much from you and it’s a privilege (and a delight) to have someone to share both silly and deep, insightful convos with. Becoming friends with you - an author I’ve been admiring and looking up to for so many years now - still feels a bit surreal but it’s easily one of the best parts of 2022/2023 for me. I hope you enjoy your day to the fullest, and have an amazing time celebrating with yours. Happy birthday my friend! 💜

Romione kiss - 1813 edition
From the most recent update to my Regency Muggle AU, The Pride of Burrough House: chapter 23. I love writing Romione kisses and wanted to share this one.
.
“You’re full of odd questions today,” he remarked curiously.
When she didn’t respond, he decided, “No, I take that back — ” He sent her a sly look. “You’re full of odd questions every day — Hey!”
He laughed as she swatted him with her book.
“Now listen here, miss — ”
Hermione wasn’t expecting it, and the book slipped from her fingers easily when Ron grabbed it, rolling away from her and rising to his knees
“ — that’s no way to treat — ” He paused, appraising the cover. “Now this one I haven’t seen before.
“Pride and Prejudice,” he recited as though reading aloud in class. His eyes glinted wickedly. “Is it about you?”
“Oh!” She lunged, but he was too fast for her, jumping to his feet and tucking it behind his back.
“It’s about a girl who meets a very rude boy,” she informed him pointedly, rising herself and brushing off her skirts. “Now give it here.”
Ron evaded her once again by lifting it high above his own head, feigning indignation. “Well, ask me nicely!”
She huffed.
“Mr Weasley,” she goaded, saccharine and affectedly courteous, “might I please have my book back?”
She punctuated her request by sticking out her tongue.
His laugh was the sort you couldn’t hear but could see, and he obliged her. When she grasped the small tome, though, her fingers closed over his and he didn’t let go, not right away.
Not for the first time she noticed that something about standing so close to him, face-to-face, set her nerves jangling — something inscrutable between them that made it hard to breathe, and not just because they were still breathless from their play.
Perhaps it was because they’d been so deliberately avoiding talking about it, instead talking in circles around it. Perhaps it was because they’d quietly refused to give it a name, that it grew impatient and decided to declare itself.
Whatever the reason, Ron decided to see about something, and Hermione decided to let him. She knew what was going to happen almost the moment the idea formed in his mind, just by his little intake of breath. Even so, at the first (somewhat inartful) clasp of their lips against one another, Hermione inhaled sharply. The book tumbled, abandoned, to the ground.
Ron’s face was flushed when he pulled away, and shyer than she’d ever seen him. He struggled to find his voice, and Hermione realised she couldn’t bear to hear him say he was sorry. Because she wasn’t, not at all.
Hermione solved that problem by kissing him again. She saw his clear blue eyes go wide, saw his hands gesture awkwardly at his sides, afraid in that second to do anything with them. Finally, when her hands rested at his shoulders, his came up to softly frame her face.
Hermione had always thought she was too sensible for this sort of thing. That maybe someday there’d be someone, because that was a nice thought, in its way; but not yet, when she still had so much to learn and do.
The trouble was, from that moment on, every minute of every day, Hermione wanted very little else than to be kissing Ron Weasley.

for the ask ship game: drastoria, jeddy and romione
Tumblr media
romione: i feel like i shouldnt even talk and let the books do the talking for me. the slowburn was ferocious. the relationship building ate every other hp couple up. with each installation the verse puts out that includes them in it they’re even more in love. it makes me want to rip my hair out that so much romione content is sidelined for other ships and only exist as a side pairing to other ships. ron is so clearly the only one who makes sense for hermione and vice versa hermione to ron. i have never seen a good argument from a romione anti about why they shouldn’t be together or how they would not work out realistically. i can chalk every argument up to classism, a critique of ron’s portrayal in the movies, or a misunderstanding of character flaws that are exacerbated by PUBERTY and the general emotional instability of an average teenager. you look me in the eye and tell me you have never tweaked out when you were teenager. you look me in the eye and tell me that having magic wouldnt make that worse. i’ve actually already made an essay-long post about romione so lets not even get me started on it LOL
drastoria: i’ve already screamed about my reasons here.
jeddy: jeddy is hard because teddy and james sirius are mostly fanon so it’s difficult to ascertain whether they would make sense or not based on personality. we basically know nothing about teddy’s personality and get a handful of lines from james in the cursed child. they seem both to have a rebellious side— james opting to disobey his parents to have a good laugh and the rita skeeter article written about teddy at the quidditch world cup final (which could have been complete slander knowing skeeter) but from what little we do know— teddy is very close with the potter family (lily basically calls him family), presumably since he was born or at least very young since they consider each other family. teddy is also six years older than james. going off that alone, if teddy was around when james was very young, or even when he was born, then no, jeddy doesn’t make sense. it would be a bit creepy, no? fanonly, i’m 50/50– i’ve read some pretty shit jeddy fics but it comes with the territory of liking scorbus so i have to suck it up 😭 but yeah, its a no from me.

A Little Ramble - Probably a Rant
I feel the need to say something for a very small percentage of people. Because most of my readers and reviewers are wonderful and I love them so much and I want to give you big, big, big hugs. You guys are amazing and you're the reason I can update consistently.
I get there are people upset with the way I write Hermione out of stories and how I cast her into the background. If you love Hermione, then my stories are not for you. She will never be a main character or even a side character. I will never write her POV. If that upsets you, there is an x in the corner. Utilize it.
I'll only talk about Brumous. This story is really a story about Harry and Sirius. It's about them finding the family they desperately needed for the past fourteen years. It's about Sirius learning to overcome his demons and step up as the godfather he was always supposed to be. It's about Harry learning to rely and accept help from others and learn what a family truly is. The main relationship, the main characters in this story are really Harry and Sirius.
This is not a story about Hermione. This isn't really even a story about Hinny or Remadora or Ron or anybody else. Yes, Hinny and Remadora are the main pairings in this story but Ginny and Remus are really the side POVs in this story. They do not always have a POV every chapter they do not drive the main plot forward, nor are they the center of it. That belongs to Harry and Sirius.
There is really no reason Hermione needs to be in the story. She holds no value, to be quite honest, as she doesn't have a purpose in this story like she does in the books. I'm not writing a character for the sake of writing them, especially when I dislike the character. I don't bash her, I don't make her look bad, I just push her into the background because she's not important to the storyline.
There are plenty of stories where Hermione is a main character, where she gets a POV, where she saves the day with her Mary Sue intellect. That's GREAT! I'm glad there's a bunch of stories people can read about what they like. But there also needs to be stories for people who don't want to read about her. THAT'S GREAT TOO.
The beauty of fandom is that we can find stories for whatever we want. Hinny, Remadora, Jily, Drarry, Wolfstar, Dramoine, Romione, Panville, the list goes on and on and on! There's so many stories that have a wide variety of main characters too! You want to read about Harry: yep, there's that! You want to read about Remus: oh, yeah, there's a bunch of those too. You want Hermione, Ginny, Ron, Neville, James, Lily, Sirius, whoever the fuck you want, YEP THERE ARE THOSE STORIES OUT THERE. HP is a massive fandom with so many talented authors and art and just people in general. You can legit find whatever you want to read. If you don't, you write it yourself!
You want to know what I want to read but couldn't really find so I started to write myself? A story where Sirius lives and he's like a dad to Harry. A story where Hinny had more time together before shit hit the fan. A story where Harry and Ron have an amazing bromance. A story where Harry dealt with his childhood trauma and started trusting adults around him to help him. Finally, a story where Hermione wasn't the focal point and always solving all the issues.
So, please, don't call me disrespectful for pushing Hermione in the background. Don't tell me I ignore Ginny's faults while highlighting Hermione's. Don't tell me that you're disappointed in my writing because Hermione isn't a focal point. Because at the end of the day, this is my story. This is what I want to write. I'm not pandering to what you want. Just because you're disappointed in me or whatever doesn't mean I'm going to change my entire story to make you happy. Because I won't. I don't care. I especially don't care if you're some anonymous person leaving a review since I'm just going to delete your review and move on. Yes, I do delete guest reviews that annoy me. Yes, I block people on Tumblr who want to hound me on my stance with Hermione. I do it because I can and I want to and that's my choice in order to make the fandom experience I want to have.
So, while you're annoyed with my representation of Hermione in MY stories, I'm equally annoyed with you when you can't just let me write MY STORIES the way I want to. I write for free. You want me to write Hermione in some great positive light, then fucking pay me. Otherwise, just leave me alone. Nobody is forcing you to read my stories.
At the end of the day, people can read and write what they want to. If you don't like my opinions on my Tumblr, block me. I'm fine with that. If you don't like the way I portray characters, don't read my stories. I'm okay with that. I found my little niche and I'm happy. I make it very clear what I like and don't like so you know exactly what to expect in stories from me. So, find your niche and the authors who write exactly what you like and be happy.
I am tired of people constantly trying to convince me Hermione is a great character (save your breath because you won't change my mind) or people being rude and telling me my opinion about her is wrong (it's not since we're all allowed to have opinions because they're OPINIONS and not FACTS) or people calling me a Hermione basher (I'm not bashing anyone in my stories - except maybe, maybe Snape a teeny tiny bit but he's a fucking cockwombling asshole and I will not apologize for that. I cannot stop from constantly portraying him in a negative light. Okay, I'm guilty of that.) I'm really tired of answering asks about Hermione or having to explain my reasoning on why I don't like her. I just don't, okay? There's nothing wrong with that. People can like whoever they want to. I shouldn't have to constantly justify my opinion.
I dislike Wolfstar because I don't think it makes sense with canon and I hate the fandom versions of their characters. I do not read Wolfstar stories, I do not follow Wolfstar blogs, I do not bother people who love Wolfstar. They can read and love whatever they like. Good for you! That's amazing. I'll never argue with you about Wolfstar. Because that's your opinion and what you like.
So, I guess what I'm saying is, you don't need to read my stories or follow my Tumblr or bother me if my stance on Hermione bothers you that much. In words of Elsa, let it go!
I've ranted enough but it's just been something that's bothering me for awhile and I'm tired of deleting reviews, asks, or blocking tumblrs.
Anyway, thank you for coming to my TED talk.
