Netflix cancelled Shadow and Bone and told us we'd never get a Six Of Crows Spin-Off, it's been two days and I still cannot believe it. I sobbed, got angry, tried repressing emotions, I honestly don't know how to get through this.

I am losing all my favourite characters and ships at once.

And for what.

We fought and trended so many times on twitter, we were #1 on the platform for like a week in many countries, what else do you want Netflix ? If this wasn't enough, then what would be ?

A great show like this, with good representation for poc, disabled people and LGBTQ+.

Those stories has helped me go through so much trauma that I cannot even begin to explain it. It has been what kept me alive for years, now. And to see them rip it off so emotionlessly makes me mad as much as it breaks my heart.

They don't even have the decency to contact the actors and writers, they all learned it through socials. This is how Netflix treats their employees and subscribers. So disgusting.

But again, we've been there again and again, I was there for Anne With An E, I was there for The Society, for Julie And The Phantoms, First Kill, Winx Fate, Lockwood & Co, Warrior Nun, only one of those fight lead to something. And I am tired.

did you ever make a post about pete not liking tankhun ? i know you mentioned it a few times in your tags but i don't remember seeing a post. (i share your opin ions.)

I definitely toyed with the idea of meta or a gifset but I didn't ever make a full post! I love unrequited love and I ESPECIALLY love the extremely rare platonic version which Tankhun and Pete absolutely nail in my opinion!

There are loads of moments where Pete's smile drops around Tankhun very quickly, or he insults Tankhun behind his back. Instead of laughing things off like Arm and Pol, he almost has a wincing fear-response to Tankhun, which we don't really see at all from the other bodyguards.

I think that Tankhun likes to think of himself as being close friends with his bodyguards, and he does genuinely show a lot of open affection for Pete and eventually concern for his safety. But I think ultimately for Pete, Tankhun is just a part of Pete's job, and over time resentment has built up until he thinks of Tankhun as one of the *worst* parts of it. I definitely don't think he resents Tankhun enough to hurt or endanger him, but that's about as far as it goes, there's certainly very little love there.

Something about that dynamic is just particularly brilliant, especially when combined with Pete's eventual defection from Tankhun's side to Vegas'. He chooses a man who has beaten and tortured him over a man who showers him in affection and throws parties on his return.

I utterly adore Tankhun but I think as a character that's grown up in a gilded cage, he doesn't really understand that what Pete needs is a sense of his own autonomy rather than being dragged to "fun" "lets cheer up Pete" parties that Tankhun has demanded on his behalf. At least with Vegas he *chose* to go back, he handed Vegas the ropes, let him lock him back up again. Even before he develops feelings for Vegas, Pete has clearly felt like a subhuman pet for Tankhun and the main family for a long, long time and I think ironically Vegas acknowledging Pete's humanity is the tipping point for him.

I think even without their nascent romantic love as a factor, Pete would always choose Vegas. Because despite the threat of suffering, he offers a sense of freedom that Tankhun's gilded cage does not. It all makes for an incredibly interesting betrayal, and makes Pete choosing Vegas over Tankhun all the more pointed. By choosing to be Vegas' pet, he chooses to be human.

Day 8 in NY: The Play That Goes Wrong!!! aka our last show

#the play that goes wrong #tptgw broadway #mischief theatre #mischief comedy #new york trip 2023 #but omigod WHAT A SHOW TO END THE TRIP #TRULY GOING OUT WITH A BANG #and we had the most amazing stage door experience!!!! #the actors were amazing 🥺🥺🥺 #basically there was no official stage door so my friend and I were rushing around the building #and managed to reach the makeshift stage door just in time to catch trevor #and we got to chat with him and he offered to take a selfie with hs #(please know that I made a point to not ask for selfies on this trip bc I feel awkward asking haha) #and then the rest of the cast came out one by one #got selfies with chris and dennis and got to chat with them all but max #max left while we were talking to dennis and chris but apparently he just flew in from chicago yesterday #the other maxes were out sick and he flew in last min and only got a few hours of rehearsals #but he and caroline chu (sandra) were understudies together so this was full circle moment for them!! #okay about the show real quick: one of annie’s papers flew into my lap so I put it back on the stage #I think that dennis remembered us bc of that #WE WERE SITTING IN THE FRONT ROW BY PURE LUCK #and omigod to be so close to the actors #truly today was the best experience and I am so glad that we’re ending this trip on such a high note

ooc. it's admirable that despite cxs being into many people's lives--whether happy ending or bad ending, he still keeps his mentality in check?? kind of?? like he tries to tbh. bro got wicked nightmares of all the people he couldn't save when he goes into the pictures but when he wakes up he's like " 'aight. a new day, let's do our best today!" like how fucked up was when he had to be the basketball guy, chen xiao, and see, well feel the life leaves his mother who is protecting him under the rubble??? thats so traumatic man. you know you could save people but you cannot do that because you can fuck time and space and all that. and u have lu guang yelling in your brain to leave the past and the future alone slfksdfkjsdlkjfsk ffffaaak. xiaoshi is constantly battling his inner strong justice, and the need to help people vs keeping the past/future intact. he tried it once and he fucked the life of Emma. if he hadn't sent the message who knows what could've happened--she might be still alive. it eats him from inside that he tried to do something nice for her and it backfired so badly ended up a target for the serial killer. cxs does his best to heal himself so he can be of use to others but eventually that will break him to pieces and thats why lu guang is always like a hawk..bat...idk from the shadows trying to make sure he does not cause a big mistake and break himself. techincally... ahem mister lu guang did the 'do like what i say, not like what i do' statement and went back in time to save cxs. haha.. idiots. cxs is like an adorable colored glass, so fragile but it can cut you nonetheless. puppy energy but if got pushed to the edge he is a hound ready to tear you apart (exaggeration lol) but still he will aim to hurt. lays on the ground...s3 when? it's unclear how many times did lu guang 'save' xiaoshi because lets be honest, that wild doggy is ready to jump in the line of fire for his friends ..*insert exhibit A*

The thing about the fall of the house of usher is that like. I think Mike Flanagan is a great character writer but... somehow maybe not a very good horror writer? Which I know is an insane take given his body of work but like. He's great with suspense, but when that tension finally breaks, at least in Usher, it tends to feel kind of... stupid rather than scary.

Which means you're watching all of these interesting, horrible people play off of one another in excellent ways, portrayed by excellent actors, as they unerringly make their ways towards extremely obviously telegraphed and kind of stupid deaths.

#the whole episode w Camilla where she's obviously about to get chimp attack killed #& you're sitting there watching her be a slimy media personality spinning her brother's death for clout #& like you're mourning already not because she doesn't deserve to die #but because you know something dumb is about to happen to her & the show is about to become a bit less interesting #because she'll be gone #i know mike Flanagan is on here so on the off chance he sees this like. no shade man genuinely big fan of your work #it's alive! #the fall of the house of usher #i guess this blog is just like. the place I'm bitchy about media now #it's like a frustrating viewing experience because the good parts are SO fucking good #& the actors are so good & watching them play off each other is SO good. #and then something really really dumb will happen. and you're like. oh. right. #oh no I wonder if the tanks in the roof of this building that was condemned for being full of dangerous chemicals #will in fact be full of dangerous chemicals that will kill everybody #oh they were? wow! #it's not even a Hitchcock'the audience knows there is a bomb but the characters don't' think it's just like. #you're just kind of waiting for it to be over so you can go back to the interesting stuff.

having watched the third episode of lockwood and co, i’m not quite as thrilled about it. i don’t really like how they fit the whole plot of the screaming staircase into just three episodes. Honestly, i don’t really like in general super long episodes. but here especially, they cut a lot of the more mundane things, of lucy, lockwood, & george building their friendship and showing more of their characters. They also cut a few of the less important cases, like lucy’s first with lockwood, with the motorcyclist. and while those kinds of moments weren’t super important to the plot, it helped to get a feel for both the world(not every case is dramatic and dangerous, this is a normal job) and the characters(lockwood’s growing respect for lucy, her Talent).

And i think this could come back to bite the writers when they introduce Holly, because lockwood being so casual with her so quickly was in contrast to him being formal with lucy for longer. if we don’t see those weeks with that awkwardness and formality, there won’t be that contrast.

#lockwood and co #also the speed that they found the source in combe carey call annoyed me #cause it really didn't show us *how* haunted the place was #it showed us a few little things but it really didn't build any suspense #maybe that's just me knowing what will happen but it felt very fast #it was just bam! red room. bam! screaming staircase(which didn't even scream!) bam! all done #while in the books there was a lot of time of them seeing little things. really showing how the ghosts piled up #and the moments of them drinking tea and joking about monk haircuts. that ties back to how they need some fluff and character building #having lucy's narration helped too i think #no matter how good an actor is you can't read their mind. actually being in their head communicates anxiety way better #this is very rambly #lots of words to say ''how did everything happen so fast let them BREATHE god''
