Any other cool little bits from your coversation with Charlie? It is so awesome you got to meet all the guys!!!
There was so much stuff and I’m not sure how much I have shared/a lot is jumbled now bc it was a long day, drinking, and a loud bar, lol, but a few things:
Charlie was bragging to the guys next to us at the bar that Sunny is the wordiest show on television :,)
A woman demanded Charlie make her a cocktail, she returned it and made him fix it, he did, and then he said, “they don’t even let me bartend on the fictional show!” Which killed me.
He reiterated to us that they wanted to go with ‘my idea’ (😭) of Mac and Dennis still having inflatable furniture
This convo is kinda fuzzy but I remember he said they write episodes with the intent of surprising the audience, and if they get into the writers room and they find they’re just repeating something or not saying anything new, they either won’t move forward or they’ll go look for a way to catch the audience off guard (S16 has A LOT of this, which is I think what he was talking about)
My friend told him we miss when they used to do legit promotional stuff and photos, and he said he doesn’t really see (not involved in) what they do with that and merch nowadays
Again, he took so much time to talk to us and really truly just talked to us like we were kind of on the same level. I can’t stop thinking about how little opportunity he probably gets to do that with Sunny outside of the creative team. And it seems like he and Glenn did talk a lot/their minds were really on Season 17 this past weekend :)
(Also, I overheard a guy ask Glenn about S17 ‘this year’ and he told him due to the Writers Strikes pushing their schedules back, they wouldn’t be getting out a new season until next year. We knew this based on other things being said, but wanted to reiterate!)
It’s very cool I’ve met them all now and what’s like... Idk more insane?.. is that I appreciate them all even more now. They’re all just very real people, that are creating something they love and care about, and are genuinely excited and happy to get to talk about it whenever they can. Idk, I feel like we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I hope they do more stuff in other states so more people can get to meet them and share their love for the show too! They love talking about their little show!!

things that happened in cyberverse that I get dealt psychic damage upon remembering because this show was fuckin wild
starscream did his usual "IM THE LEADER NOW >:D" thing bc megatron was presumed dead but this time when megatron came back he went down the halls of almost the whole fucking ship beating the shit out of starscream while he was trying to run until he fucking shot him and left him for dead
at some point humans found about cybertronians (as in "the general populace found out cybertronians live among them" not "1-5 humans made friends") but instead of having anything like G.H.O.S.T or Big Conflict between the humans they just. made viral videos of cybertronians sometimes? Idk
speaking of which: megatron livestreaming starscream's funeral (after practically killing him) and there was a Facebook live style stream of emojis and one of them was the pensive one (😔) but on the decepticon insignia
he didn't stay dead though the autobots found him on the moon or whatever and stuck him in a lil cell
he got therapy once (the closest any tf show has gotten to having rung) and immediately used it to escape
...actually the closest they got to having rung was probably maccadam who looked like someone mixed rung with thanos (and I think was a prime???)
cheetor beast wars was there and he was fucking adorable and essentially did a round of marriage counseling for megatron and optimus and they went with it bc I think it was the only way he'd let them see the allspark or whatever
and then he died saving the allspark in very princess yue "I'm giving it my life force to save everyone" fashion
I stayed watching for maybe 5 more eps after that (bc honestly this would've made for the best albeit bittersweet ending instead of throwing in the quintessentions but I digress) so I know there's a fuckton missing from this list
perceptor was there and he got blinded after less than five minutes onscreen
but the real problem: no brainstorm
no mention of him to be had
no simpatico only simp
whirl was there but instead of having any of his insanity or Genuine Unhingedness he was just. kinda silly. and not even that silly. he kept getting hit and going "...I'm fine!"
tarn.
yeah that tarn.
but similar to whirl he was Very Diluted from his normal idw tarn-ness (bc. Y'know. It's a TV-Y7 Saturday morning cartoon) and I think he had clones
windblade had a "I sword fight my ex gf in a Dennys parking lot" thing going on for A While with one of the seekers until she literally got stabbed and died
they had drift but did his whole deadlock -> drift thing backwards. in reverse even
Roddy's Emo Paint Job from Lost Light (but it's because of the Acid he got dragged into bc that's how that works)
this show started with amnesiac mute bee doing dumb shit and windblade having to wrangle him and they went on silly adventures what happened-

HELLO 😁🤭😋 in my being young hot and sexy moment i almost forgot and checking the calendar was a jumpscare! but i’m here, once again asking for your book wrap up. how was your september reading? (spoiler: mine was awful) horror on the horizon for october? awaiting the deets
always with the end-of-month jumpscares!! I feel like I've only just processed the ending of august, probably bc it was packed to the brim but STILL! crazy!! very solid reads this month, I'll give her (september) that
Tumblr media
Cool For You by Eileen Myles
got deja vu while reading and bc it reminded me of Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh bc they both work in medical institutions and have this similar demeanor towards work so i was like? is Eileen based on Eileen Myles?? but I enjoyed this one far more, really dug her style of writing and generally autofiction as a genre lately. it's like the best of both worlds of more intimate-feeling fiction and memoir without this fragile energy an author sometimes carries when trying to frame their life as accurately as possible. I like how experimental it can get with the form of a novel in a way I thought Myles did seamlessly like all the jumping around different stages of her life really worked for me because there was a nice rhythm to it all. plus her writing voice is just so effortlessly charming + funny + playful, she could make anything sound interesting I'm sure. one of my favorite lines:
“I was a funny and stupid girl—Jesus sliding on a banana peel in the temple."
little silly tidbits like that, I can't not smile!
I Wished by Dennis Cooper
it's crazy to me that I've only started Cooper this year because his writing is so ridiculously special to me now. I was gonna hold off on this one til I've read more of his early poetry, but I think it was actually fitting to follow up my journey with the George Miles cycle with this as it was kinda like a self-reflection on the cycle. now having read several books by him, I realize the necessity of the digesting period each one needs because of how much more I get out of them the longer I ruminate, far removed from a freshly-read state to fully comprehend the piece as a whole if that makes sense. I don't even wanna read my previous blurbs about the cycle books because, though I remember loving them instantly, I'm sure my interpretations were barely scratching the surface of what/how I feel about them now,.... I feel like i've just talked myself into a circle/I've totally lost my grip LMAO but this was very sweet and sad and funny and sad again and it's just a miracle to me how striking his writing is even with how succinct it can be. absolutely beautiful!!
Quarry by Jane White
damn these boys are fucked up !!! I won't get too deep bc a lot of my thoughts come from the climax/ending of this book and I don't wanna spoil in case you ever read, but there's a funny formality running through it all that becomes funnier with every unfolding + atrocious act. surprisingly a lot of gay + incestuous subtext going on that my friend and I kept texting each other during reading like "did I really just read that ..." there were so many layers and dynamics to pick apart, far more than either of us were expecting I think. twas a fun and twisted time and makes me excited to continue on with this theme!!
I think I mentioned before that Quarry was the start of a planned trio, so Lord of the Flies is next which I guess is sorta fitting for October. I was just remembering how I read Jekyll & Hyde last October and am debating if I wanna do another classic (eyeing Frankenstein) or maybe American Psycho finally to dip my toes into Bret Easton Ellis... unsure if I wanna be simply entertained or wholly unsettled, will maybe try and find a perfect in-between balance ⚖️

lately ive been seeing some ppl on sunny tumblr/twitter spreading the agenda of ryan reynolds dating mac n dee n also dennis banging him and it reminds me of this fic idea i had for a while but i dont think i'm ever gonna make it so i might as well just say it
dee brags about having a date with this really hot guy who's at the bar n mac immediately feels smth between them the guy starts making eye contact and he just knows there's smth there so later he comes up to dennis n asks him for help to steal him from dee. he wants him to help sabotage their date thats happening tomorrow n dennis says yes bc he doesnt care if mac wants to bang ppl, dennis does it himself n he knows it doesnt mean anything plus pissing off dee is a bonus. so the next day he goes to dee's apartment pretending he wanted to hang out, puts some laxative in her drink n she obviously doesnt go to the date. ryan reynolds goes to the bar to meet dee n surprise whos there? mac. so they go out n dennis is "fine" with it. until he notices for weeks how mac is always with his phone n won't stop smiling n not coming home until the next morning so dennis asks him whats this all about n mac tells him "remember that guy dee had a date with but he was obviously more attracted to me? so we've been seeing each other all this time n i think we're going steady. i think i might actually like this guy" dennis is shaking n almost throwing up n then mac says "i wanted to thank you bc if u hadn't helped me sabotage their date we wouldn't be together so yeah thanks dude". then dennis has his kendall roy breakdown in the bathroom. then he does everything in his power to break them up he inserts himself in their dates he takes macs phone to delete their texts making them miscommunicate n mac is pretty oblivious about it but his bf isn't n dennis feels he kinda asked mac to distance himself a little from dennis and now hes going insane he has no resources anymore. so he does the only thing he can think of: hits on ryan reynolds who ends up being a cheater n they fuck. dennis tells mac like it was the most natural thing in the world saying he got suspicious about him being a cheater n just wanted to check, hoping mac will accept it, breakup w him, move on n everything would go back to normal. but he doesnt. he gets rlly upset n goes "what the fuck is wrong with u??? u're not even attracted to men n u banged him just to ruin my first long term relationship" he obviously wouldn't put 2+2 together that dennis wasn't straight n not even cross his mind that he might be jealous. dennis tells him he did him a favor that he was looking out for him and says "now that i clarified everything will u just breakup n we all move on from this? bc its starting to annoy me". but for dennis' surprise mac doesnt let it go n gets to the conclusion that dennis wanted to break them up just bc he wasnt a priority in macs life anymore n wasnt doing stuff for him like he used to n that he couldnt control mac anymore. he gets rlly hurt about this but deep down also bc dennis had gay sex and it wasn't with him. dennis wants to tell him the truth that he was just jealous bc he loved him n it was supposed to be him dating mac not ryan, that no one could understand mac better than he did n that everything was so clear to him now but he doesn't. he doesnt say anything n just lets mac think that bc he doesnt have the guts, bc its easier to let mac hate him. mac walks out the door and now the cliffhanger n angst is settled. dennis has to do the ultimate big romantic gesture to get him back

Hello, since you are literally BEGGING for someone to ask you about Transformers, I’ll happily do it. Besides, it’s been a while since I shared my opinions on Transformers with another Transformers fan.
So here I am, asking you to share every detail you like about Transformers RiD2015, I would also rant for hours about but no one ever listened to me about it. So yeah, start talking, give me everything you love about RiD2015, which characters you like, what episode you enjoyed the most, did you like the Insecticons? What about the Bee Team? Did you hate it when one of your favorite ‘Cons got put into stasis? Because I sure have. Are there any characters you absolutely DESPISED and felt internally salty about? Do you think Fixit is baby man? Would you like to be teleported into the RiD2015 universe some day? Start talking.
THANK YOU OMG I HAVE BEEN DYINGGGG TO TALK ABOUT THIS
first off, i am 1000% an unironic fan of rid2015. i loved every second of the whole show, and i wouldn't change a thing. except i would add more rescue bots references/crossovers bc those guys are my faves too, but the writing, characters and pacing all felt really good to me.
i liked all the characters. like, every single one, except steeljaw. he's a great villain and a well written character. his role as villain was so good, in fact, that i hate his guts. that furry pisses me off with his condescending attitude and his shifty schemes. i hate people who lie to others, and people who betray others, and ESPECIALLY people who are smug about these two things: all of which applies to him. i feel personally avenged when bad things happen to him.
my favorite is strongarm i think. she's so cool to me, and i really respect her work ethic, and the fact that we're getting more girl (used loosely bc i think that bots don't have feelings on gender) bots. also the fact that her design breaks away from the whole "the guys can be bulky and buff but the girls with the same experience and training can't" thing that tfp did. it bugged me, so i'm glad strongarm was allowed to be bulky and strong. i mean, she drags grimlock's trailer, and they've acknowledged that it takes a lot of brute strength. i loved that, and the fact that we get to see more girls who are strong instead of just agile or fast.
i don't know if i can pick a favorite episode. i really did like all of them, but episodes that i tend to really love are the episodes that focus on drift and the minis, anything where strongarm is the main focus/has a lot of screen time, and the episodes where we see more of denny and russel. i like the humans in rid, which is kinda surprising because i tend to kinda not care. i also like to see the subtle development they get, and how their relationship improves.
Fixit is hilarious, and i love him. he would not approve of being called baby man i believe, but it sums him up pretty well. i appreciated being able to see a character like him, where he was less of the fighting type and more of the helping from the sidelines. it's important to remember that the people we see in action can only be there because of the people behind the scenes, and i liked seeing a character represent that and be thanked/appreciated as an equal.
anyways long story short i really love rid2015, it's a great show with good humor, fun plots and interesting characters!! and once again, thank you so much for the ask!

NIRI!!! I am curious about all of your WIPs actually but if I must narrow it down..... pls tell me about It's Always Sunny at Skyhold (is samson frank or dennis) AND OFC thalia & kallian: full moon 👀👀👀
Hi aster thank you!!
Ask me wip questions here!
I will answer these chronologically bc it makes more sense to do so:
Thalia & Kallian - Full moon
This is meant to be the introduction chapter to the Curse of Strahd crossover. Thalia visits Kallian at Vigil’s Keep, fangirls over the Grey Warden commander, talks a bit about Blackwall and his deal. Then Kallian reveals she received a mysterious letter from someone calling himself the Burgomaster of Barovia and calling out the tyranny of a vampire lord who rules over those lands. This sparks interest in both of them, they do a little investigating in the library at the keep. They find evidence an ancient land called Barovia, which no one in modern times has heard of, may exist in this one remote region of Nevarra. So of course they decide to convene a retinue and go check it out. 😎 what could go wrong?!?
I can’t remember where the full moon comes in. I think it’s just there for the atmosphere LOL. It was based on a dadwc prompt.
It’s Always Sunny at Skyhold
(Samson is definitely Frank LMAO)
So I plan to call the romp in Barovia It's Never Sunny in Barovia. So this bit I half-jokingly named "It's Always Sunny at Skyhold" because I was envisioning a sequel (yes, I love jumping the gun) where Thalia takes her new bestie she met in Barovia, Metrion, and employs him as a spy at Skyhold. This scene is poor Cullen trying to grasp why his girlfriend would do such a thing and what shenanigans she got up to in his absence.
It's like 90% more written than the previous scene, so here's a snippet:
Thalia leans forward, squinting at the report to rival her own. Even upside down, she recognizes the penmanship. “What did Pravin have to say about him that I didn’t?”  Cullen looks stricken. He rocks back on his heels, crossing arms over his breastplate the way he does when he doesn’t want to deliver bad news. “You were, um, significantly kinder in your assessment of his character than your cousin was.”  “Kinder how?” Metrion and Pravin have never gotten along — despite having, it seems to Thalia, extremely similar experience and skillsets. Pravin never saw it that way, however, in a manner Thalia finds quite classist.  “Your account uses words like ‘actor’ and ‘diplomatic’ to categorize him,” Cullen says carefully. “Pravin’s descriptions, on the other hand, are more colorful.” “In what way?” Thalia asks, already wincing.  “Er, let’s see. ‘Con man, swindler. Ne’er-do-well, wastrel, fraudster, mountebank… Trickster, charlatan, knave, drunkard—’” “Drunkard!” Thalia huffs. “That’s the pot meeting the kettle, coming from Pravin.” “He includes several anecdotes where the two of you— ‘Thalia and Metrion, if that is indeed his name,’ ah,” Cullen says, flipping the parchment, “robbed local establishments through deception and guile. ‘Gleefully’ is the word he used.” Cullen clears his throat and meets Thalia’s eyes, troubled. “Seeming to imply you enjoyed it?”

Wait, you've been a Sunny fan for 8 years?! You've got to tell us how it's been in that time!!! What's the vibe been like here in that time and how has it changed? What were the big fan theories? Was r/iasip always such a hellhole dumpsterfire? What are the big things from the fandom back in the day that we don't know about but should?
Ooooh lets see what I remember-
Charlie reigned supreme- like really and truly so many blogs and so, so much content was Charlie Charlie Charlie, everyday, all the time and I mean he still is insanely popular but definitely back in the day Charlie in the show and of the cast was easily the most popular, like it felt like 7/10 posts were about him. Glenn was next in line but I do distinctly remember Kaitlin and Rob didn't have as much content about them, at a certain point I kinda was the Kaitlin Olson tag, that's not me being up myself I just used to be in her tag constantly and it'd be a lot of posts in a row of just me- the girls of the series def didnt always get the love they should and I'm not really sure that's changed much ☠ But yeah this was also around the time that everyone was also going gaga about Pacific Rim so that def made Charlie even more popular too.
Macdennis has always, always been a popular pairing but their popularity 100% has skyrocketed the past few years, and I mean SKYROCKETED. Like they're on par with some wildly popular mlm ships nowadays and it's lowkey so funny to see em in the ring with like. destiel 😂 now when I go in the tag it seems half the posts feature mac and dennis, which is notable to me bc Mac especially was kinda... Unloved is not the right way to phrase it bc fans have always loved him but Rob/Mac def didn't get /as/ much love back in the day. Like people often spoke of him as the weakest character but after season 13 I think he's gained more appreciation.
Fans have def gotten much bigger on theories and stuff these days, I'm sure they had em back then too but it wasn't as prevalent and none particularly stand out, it was usually just the "X characters are secretly sleeping together" type beat. I also remember a popular theory that everyone was going to die in the inevitable series finale but then the show never got cancelled and I dont know what that was about?
Reddit has always been messy and there def was a pretty big us vs them type vibe between sunny fans back then- though it was less reddit vs tumblr and more "straight dude bros" vs everyone else like I remember so many posts being like "Ugh straight dude bros don't get the show" I probably made some of those posts 😂 Lots of "Mac isn't actually gay" too which is very, very funny in hindsight- No one ever thought they'd canonize his sexuality.
Ummm... Probably the most notable thing to me tho is seeing how popular the cast has become, like 8 years ago Danny was the only "Big name" Like the media absolutely spoke of the show as these no name people and Danny Devito. I mean that was not totally the case for Charlie, he was becoming more and more popular and gaining traction in the mainstream with pacific rim and the likes but with Glenn, Kaitlin and Rob they were definitely not super well known outside Big always sunny fans so seeing them go from that to Rob being besties with Ryan Reynolds and stuff has honestly been super interesting and funny. Like I remember posting rob and kaitlins wedding pictures and getting so many people going WAIT THEYRE MARRIED?? it was hilarious to see the transition.
Yeah those are probably the biggest changes I can think of- it's gotten more popular which explains most of it, shipping has def become a much bigger thing as well, ships were pretty chill back then, there wasn't too much fic or art so thats different now :)
OH BUT ART! There's always been wonderful fan artists but nowadays wowee!! some amazing art for the series, like much more abundant! That's the gist of it :)

Random very rambling Boston Legal finale thoughts bc I’m bored some sorta spoilers obviously
Sometimes I think the writers forget Alan is a widower lol (like that scene earlier in 5x09 when he says "I was lucky enough to stave off the evil that so ages men... marriage.") but then 5x12 he says "I always thought, if I were to get married again..." so. I guess they remembered !
I'd always pictured Alan coming from a relatively well-off family, in large part bc of those episodes of The Practice season 8 where he goes back to his hometown of Dedham and his best friend is from a wealthy family, wealthy neighborhood, and also his general tastes and almost patrician attitude and things. But after noticing that line from the Thanksgiving episode—"I grew up in a very estranged, unhappy house. Most Thanksgivings my mother spent serving dinner in other people's homes"—which makes it clear they were not rich and perhaps the opposite? But nevertheless, keeping that fact in mind when Alan says he's always dreamt of opening a legal aid firm to help poor people who can't afford it...... sweet man. He’s done so much good and he’s only getting started
On a similar-ish note. Something about Alan remembering everything that’s ever happened to him—every wrong, every pain, every cruel word from his father, every time he was used. He’s been cursed with a steel-trap memory, it’s why he keeps people at arms length. But now that’s the one thing his best friend is losing, his mind. And as Denny’s legal partner and eventual caretaker, Alan’s curse becomes a blessing—he can remember for both of them. He’ll always be there to remember everything Denny forgets, to reassure him for the rest of his life. Ohhh man. Soulmates.
Still waiting for John Larroquette to share an autobiography someday because I would loveeee to hear his thoughts on the show generally/working with James specifically. On Night Court in the 80s, John and Richard Moll had some issues working together for the very same reasons I imagine John and James would not exactly mesh (work style/approach to acting)... but blegal is a much different show in style and format that I thiiiiink would negate some of those potential problems. But fascinated to hear how they got on!
How it feels thinking 100x harder about these TV lawyers than the writers did. Specifically being so mad about Alan Shore I want to analyze him like a bug I love him so deeply he’s such a wonderfully complicated character—while knowing it was just James’ day job for a couple years ago and probably means nothing to him on any deeper level and he hasn’t thought about him since 2008:

how long have you been a fan of iasip and how long on sunnyblr? do you know who here has been around for a long time? how has the fandom developed and changed from your perspective? has it always been so reddit-oriented? what have the main opinions (general consensus kinda shit) been in your eyes? were you into macdennis right from the start? did the fandom always follow rcg so closely or is that only after the podcast? sorry for asking so much, just interested in the history of this space
Step into my office Anon. Let me regale you the tale of Sunnyblr from the days of yore. Or whatever.
Me personally, I started watching Sunny in late summer 2019 (tragically I had just missed the fake MacDennis script panic of July 2019). My friends had it on when I went to their house and we didn't have anything else to do, so we just watched like a shitton of episodes that day and I was like hold fuck on this scratches something in my brain. I didn't start poking around on the Sunny side of tumblr until possibly a week later? I think. Basically in my skipping around Sunny episodes I was starting to pick up the vibes Mac and Dennis were putting down and as a joke I was like hmm what if I just take a look at the ao3 tag ahaha jk unless. And that was the beginning of the end. I'm not sure if I checked out the Sunny tag on tumblr first or the MacDennis tag but literally at that time it didn't matter. Sunnyblr was essentially MacDennisblr. Tumblr didn't get me into MacDennis but it definitely accelerated my hyperfixation with them This was all pre-s14 at this point for reference.
Honestly, not many people remain from that time or even before. I remember some folks I had followed reminiscing about post-s12, wondering if Dennis was coming back, or if he turned into the bar. Idk man I'm so glad I didn't have to deal with not knowing if Dennis was coming back like that would've been too much for me.
But 2019 Sunnyblr, and this may just be the nostalgia talking, but man it was magical. The gif sets, the meta breakdowns of episodes, the macdennis posts--god we were eating GOOD. It felt like one giant group chat in the best way. And then The Gang Gets Romantic happens an we were absolutely FERAL. Okay? Like picture Nov 5th but on a way smaller scale. But that was the energy, okay?
But then, tragedy struck in the form of Dee Day. That, for me was kinda the beginning of the end of that version of Sunnyblr. A lot of people were pissed. The glass shelves we had propped RCG and Megan Ganz up on had shattered. A decent amount of people left right then and there. But those who stayed were holding out for something -- a better apology from them regarding the brownface for one. And that...didn't happen (I don't want to speak more on this bc like...look I'll be real with you, I stuck my head in the sand on this one. But people had a right to be hurt by that episode and to this day I haven't rewatched it since it aired). But we trudged along. Bc it's "satire" and these are "bad people" and we are DEF getting canon MacDennis okay they are going to KISS on the MOUTH in BIG MO.
....and then they didn't. Clown shoes squeaking.
Okay trying to get this back on track...
As far as reddit goes, that's always just been the "dudebro" place for Sunny. Sometimes they make valid points and our braincells align and that warrants someone posting it here to discuss.
I feel like the general opinions kinda feel the same to me? Mac and Dennis are endgame, Archie. Dennis is bastardman but also baby. Charlie poor little meow meow. I do have to say...I feel like some stuff used to feel a bit more...grounded than it does now?? If that makes sense? Like idk man people were out here writing academic prose to describe the meta in Clip Show. And I do feel like that vibe's kinda gone. But it's not a bad thing. It's just different. Like it's more unhinged but hey we're still having fun so who cares?
Uh what else? Oh yeah so the RCG stuff. Like I said before, there was a point where Sunnyblr propped them up and we got reality checked real quick, okay? They went from being UnProblematic Kings ™ to Rob posting copaganda on his IG at the height of the George Floyd protests in June of 2020. That happening after all the shit with Dee Day was basically a powder keg. And that's honestly when Sunnyblr as I knew it, really died.
I think the podcast has def shoved them back into a more favorable light in the fandom's eyes. Speaking for myself, I never stopped stanning Glenn but Rob and Charlie and Kait were on thin fucking ice (maybe not Charlie so much but def Rob and Kait--actually mostly Rob). I think RCG have to be prevalent in the fandom as much as the characters do bc they're so close to them and the show like this IS their show y'know?
That's...all I can really think of. Like I said, not many people remain from those days. I can think of maybe a handful off the top of my head but I wouldn't consider them nearly as active as they were regarding Sunny when I joined. We're still moots but that's bc we like each other beyond the MacDennis of it all.
Sorry this is so long too lmfao. Like Sunnyblr was such a huge part of my life during that time so I guess I got shit to say. I also for real in no way consider myself the end all be all expert on this either. Like in no way am I the sole authority on Sunnyblr history. This is based on stuff I experienced and picked up on from other's posts from before my time. Anybody can chime in with their own opinions and shit. Correct me too. Idc.
Uh yeah. So I guess that's what you missed on Glee. Or Sunnyblr. The end? I hope that helped (for real).

Thinking about the time I saw a legitimate doppelganger and it was the weirdest goddamn thing.
I was 18 and in Ohio with my parents and sister, going to my brother's high school best friend's wedding (why yes it was weird). I am from California. The vibe was already bizarre. One day we went to a Denny's or something bc there was literally nothing else to do in this small town. The waitress walks up to our table and every member of my family freezes .
See. We have these family friends. Kids are similar ages and went to the same schools so we're close. My mom is the godmother to one of the boys bc she helped deliver him (it was a surprise home birth oops). They are a family with a unique last name and very distinctive features.
The waitress was the goddamn spitting image of the younger daughter.
I can't remember which of us was the first to stammer out a, "Mary?" but she clearly had absolutely no idea who we were. But like. THIS WAS MARY. This was before smart phones so we couldn't exactly pull up a picture of her, but. We couldn't get over it.
This poor woman in the middle of rural Ohio. We must have looked absolutely insane. She had never heard the (again, very unique) last name. Had never been to Californka, or even left the state. Was not even of the same ethnic background as the family. We had so many questions and she was so polite but clearly So Baffled.
What a weird coincidence though right??? Hundreds of miles away from home and we meet an absolute dead ringer for one of the most distinctive people I've ever known. (She was cute as hell, mind you, but in a way that was unexpected and rarely duplicated.)
That was like 20 years ago and I'll never forget it.
Anyway yeah Ohio is a really weird place.

for the fanfic ask game: 5, 12/13, 36?
5) What do you wish someone would ask about your fic? Answer it now!
mainly there's a bunch of lore details i had to cut from cdta, so i'll go ahead and bullet point some of my favorite tidbits!
adam's favorite album used to be radiohead's The Bends, but since alt!gabriel had it playing on loop while he was painfully transforming into his alternate form and during his time in the Nightmare Sand Pit, now he can't listen to any songs off that album without having a panic attack. thus, his favorite album is now deftone's White Pony.
adam detects the presence of other alternates/supernatural entities by way of prickling in his scalp because he (and all other Type 6s/sleeper agents) has horns! they're very small tho, looking more like little hard bumps on his head, and they're fully covered by his fluffy hair.
jonah unknowingly summoned adam like a demon during the blood magic at the church, and that's why he and adam have the matching sigils in their palms.
adam doesn't remember meeting mark and ruth in the Nightmare Sand Pit anymore
traumatrio did in fact stop at a denny's before they reached sarah's place, and thatcher's cover story for adam's roughed-up appearance was that he got caught up in a drug deal gone bad.
12) Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?
i think enemies to friends/lovers. my favorite version of this atm is when an enemy has to take care of their beloathed bc an even Worse Baddie fucked them up severely, and the two grow closer in that vulnerable state
13) Are there any tropes you used to like but don't anymore?
not a huge fan off those one-off fluff fics. those were the main thing i would read when i first discovered fanfic as an 11 yr old, but now all i wanna read are the most intense angst fics lol
36) Do you visualize what you read/write?
i mean my answer should be kinda obvious given how much art of my own fics i've made lol. tho i will say i think i visualize stories almost to a fault. in a fic that i've since orphaned, it got absolutely obsurdly long bc i felt like i had to describe everything with as much detail as possible so the audience could picture every moment as clearly as i could see it in my head. trying to get into doing comics is what finally taught me how to keep my writing as tight as possible (though again, i think i do this to a fault now T_T)

Rank the iasip main characters from most virtuous (comparatively, obviously none of them are free from sin) to most evil.
oh this is such a fun question I love u
ok so least evil is obviously charlie. stalking the waitress for a decade and a half bc he's convinced she's the love of his life is his only dark trait, other than that he's just gross and weird which isn't a crime and is in fact very charming to me. I also think his brain might just be too fried from huffing to even have the capacity for true evil tbh. he's chaotic neutral in the purest sense.
second to least evil is Mac. he's a huge misogynist, insanely selfish, a zealot, homophobic before accepting he's gay, etc. But as far as I can remember he's not a literal predator beyond just making unwanted passes at Dennis constantly, so that puts him closer to Charlie than to the other three in terms of virtue. He's just simply a bad person.
third is Dee. I love her as a character so much & I generally do support woman's wrongs but my goddd is she a horrible person. Implied to be a rapist (talking about the coercion she uses as she told Dennis about on the cruise, & then there's the teen boys-tho iirc the one she knew was a teen boy she didn't go through with and the one she did go through with she thought was a young man). she's also racist, like basically all of them, and insanely selfish (again, like all of them). Still, she's several leagues better than the bottom two.
Dennis and Frank (tied): these two are easily the worst people in the show. Dennis is a serial rapist, Frank literally ran a sweatshop in Vietnam where conditions were so bad that children died, and he dealt with that by putting them in the soup and feeding them to the rest of his "employees" (and he is likely also a rapist). It is crazy thinking about just how evil those two in particular are while also being totally hilarious to watch. Glenn & Danny deserve Emmys for that as do the rest of the main cast.

i have some more bc now i’m curious about your mysterious least favorite and also i’m enjoying your analyses :)
the gang turns black, charlie has cancer (for the mac/carmen plot line), a lot of charlie gets crippled, the gang gives back, sweet dee’s dating a r person (love the rock band storyline tho), thundergun express
it’s hard for me to say i dislike episodes entirely bc there are always parts i like but yeah as a whole i would say these are in my bottom 20
The Gang Turns Black: disagree. I was shocked to learn this one was so hated honestly. I love musical episodes, and I think all their singing is perfectly fine (I don’t know why people say they sound bad??) and the songs are mostly funny and catchy. And I know people think the Quantum Leap thing is stupid but I like it. I like the idea that the gang are so racist it would take a literal magical scenario for them to learn how to be better. I like that the final message of the episode is the reality of systemic racism and police brutality, but I get that’s heavy for a sunny episode and some people find it tactless and I understand completely if anyone feels that way.
Charlie Has Cancer: agree. Honestly I’ve seen this episode so few times specifically because of that plot line. But because I’ve seen it so few times I barely remember it and so don’t have a big rant prepared. But my biggest take away is—it’s one thing to show the characters being transphobic, because they’re horrible people that’s just what the show is, but when the camera is transphobic that’s just the writers thinking the idea of a trans woman having a penis is funny and expecting the audience to find it funny too. Awful. Honestly maybe this one is my least favorite I’ve just seen it so few times and so long ago it’s hard to even remember for me. I don’t even remember the Charlie plot at all or what Dee was doing if anything.
Charlie Gets Crippled: I think agree depending on what you mean by “a lot of”. The stuff about being in a wheelchair getting them free strippers is stupid and based on the false idea that life is somehow easier for disabled people because of pity (wrong and bad). And pretending to be disabled to get attention does make sense for the characters to think of and again it’d be one thing for the characters to be proven wrong but the episode plays it like they’re right and being disabled does get you adoration which uh. If you’ve ever actually been in public with an assistance device you know how wrong that is. But I like the Dennis and Dee stuff and of course our dear friend Mr Tibbs (RIP). I love the opening where Dennis runs Charlie over in his haste to flee from his shitty dad. I love that Frank is introduced as being “manically depressed” for most of his life—it’s a good way to set up the way he acts throughout the rest of the show. But yeah a lot of bad with the good. I don’t watch it often.
The Gang Gives Back: disagree! I love this episode! The gang are so horrible I think there’s a lot of humor in pairing them up with kids (also why I love Frank Reynolds’ Little Beauties). I love Mac and Dee competing to be head coach and I love the horrible dangerous things they tell the kids to do. I love that Frank “trying to bond” with Dennis turns out to be a ruse for Frank’s gambling, something Dennis doesn’t at all seem surprised by, which says so much about Dennis and Dee’s childhood without even directly mentioning it. I even think Charlie using AA to flirt with The Waitress while she’s only interested in Dennis is funny. And it’s hilarious that Frank chastises Dennis for sleeping with The Waitress when he knew Charlie likes her when Frank did literally the exact same thing lol. Just a very funny one for me I think all the character dynamic are really good and the kids are funny.
Sweet Dee’s Dating a: Agree! You found my least favorite episode! Congratulations! I hate it so much even the band parts and Dennis’ slutty little outfit don’t save it for me, which trust me is saying a lot about how bad the rest of the episode is. It’s just. Ugh. Similar issue as the others where it’s one thing for the characters to be ableist, but the narrative itself is ableist too. And it’s not even funny like. Even the band parts aren’t funny beyond their outfits to me. Yeah the scene of Dennis helping Charlie when he’s upset is cute but even that doesn’t save it for me. It’s hard for me to even think about this episode without my blood pressure rising. It’s both boring and offensive! Worst combo. I’ve watched this one as few times as I’ve watch Charlie has Cancer but this one sticks in my mind more in a bad way which is why I say it’s worse for me but who knows maybe if I rewatched both I’d feel differently. But I don’t want to lol.
Thundergun Express: disagree. This one’s another really funny one to me. The whole “we’ll come back for youuuuu” running gag is great to me every time, I love Frank’s awful boat tour where he just rambles about his chaotic life, I love that they’re all so excited for the dong, I love Mac stealing a motorcycle, failing to drive it, and abandoning it in the middle of the street, I love the sewer (yeah, that’s shit in my hair) and I think Frank calling in a bomb threat because he’s so upset he didn’t make it is a fantastic ending. Dennis’ plot is pretty weak but that’s my only criticism, the rest makes me laugh and there’s a lot of great quotable lines from this one.

episode 2 was so fun
I'm glad they remembered that Charlie had sisters lmao I forgot about that too 😂 that was unexpected, I was surprised at how his sisters are, but still fun haha
also, I love when Dennis and Dee get paired up bc you can always see that they're siblings when they're doing shit together 😂😂
Mac's relationship with his mom will never not crack me up
but Bonnie felt a bit too weird even for her, idk
Charlie is being like, very early seasons Charlie, if that makes sense 😂 or maybe that's just me idk 😂
actually, Dennis feels like early seasons too idk, they all kinda do? Idk, they feel more "grounded" again if that makes sense? it's late, I'm tired, I don't know 😂
omg not Frank thinking they wanna kill him 😭😂😂😂 the perfect day was great and I was just waiting for Frank to shoot the rest of them and it was great 😂🤗
also, I just need to say that I appreciate that Dennis' car looks like it's actually being used, unlike a lot of cars in shows 😂 like, it's not perfectly clean 😂 the dirty windshield made me think I have a dirty screen for a sec 😂

anon from earlier again!! the first mention is in s1e7 when dee and dennis r talking abt a prof (and they have nearly the exact same convo dee n dennis have abt ms klinsky but w the roles reversed, which i think adds a rly interesting layer to their dynamic tbh). i also cant find this bc i cant find my link 2 the sunny book anymore but theres a bit where dee talks abt running in to a girl she knew from high school n that it was awkward bcuz the girl hates dee for sleeping w the girls dad . and i swear i remember it saying her dad was their teacher?? tho i could be wrong bc no access to the book rn. sorry this is so long lol!
sorry this took so long to answer i had to dig out my book pdf and then forgot shdkdb but dont apologize for it being long i love talking analysis with people!!!
Tumblr media
this is probably the book part u meant? i agree that it adds a rlly interesting layer to the thing!! i had to look this up because i didnt go to school in the US but for senior year the age range seems to be 17-18, which is obviously still something extremely fucked up, especially sleeping with an authority figure and then getting blamed for it by your peers, but it also makes sense that Dee would compartmentalize that as not „rape“ in the way that what happened to Dennis was. because she was of age so there wasnt anything wrong with it. so it was just her having the „cool achievement“ of banging a teacher/older authority figure, just how dennis justified it.
and maybe thats why she made fun of him!!! because it touched on something she wasnt able to admit to herself yet. the recurring theme of dee and dennis being able to see flaws in each other but not themselves. GOD
both of them having been taken advantage of by a teacher and dee compartmentalizing it in a similar way by saying she „still has a thing for authority figures.“
and the thing with the prof too you mentioned in s1e7….once again a fucked up power structure and something dennis seems to recognize as wrong when dee refuses to. they really are just mirrors being held up to each other constantly….thats why they cant stand each other!! they cant stand seeing the truth that way. im insane
im on the floor clutching my head in my hands thank u for noticing anon this is driving me to madness currently. like holy shit. the patterns. the patterns!!!
