Growth (Part 3)

Growth, 3/3 - And … with that, we finish off yet another series 🐸🐸 I hope y’all enjoyed the ride, I know it’s been a long wait for this, but I really wanted to take my time and craft this comic and what I had to say with it (and also take my time with these last few greenhouse scenes haha).

I don’t think the ways in which amatonormativity affects us has been explored as much, since our awareness of the topic is so new. Or at the very least, I haven’t seen much discussion and I feel like we’re all just taking stabs at it atm. So here’s my take, it’s something I’ve reflecting on for quite some time, and I hope you’ve found it interesting too.

Also, this is less relevant to aromanticism, but I wanted to sign off on this: I know growing up I really clung to the idea of finding the *right* relationship, romantic or not, to be this kind of … magical key, to fixing many of my personal problems. But as I’ve learned through my own experiences, sometimes all you really need is the time and space to rest, to recover, and the will to try again at the end of the day (or the next morning, or whenever your strength returns).

If love and relationships have been the key to your healing and growth – fantastic! I’m genuinely so happy for you, and I think that is beautiful. But to anyone that needs to hear it, you can be fine too without. Your growth can be something that you shape and lead, and for what it’s worth. I think you will find at the end of the day the path you carve for yourself will be beautiful in its own ways, too.

A character analysis of Yoshiki cause he’s very dear to me 😔

I genuinely hope that as the story progresses we’ll get to learn more about Yoshiki’s father and the dynamics in the Tsujinaka household. Even tho we still don’t know the details we can see how much his father’s abusive tendencies ended up affecting Yoshiki , and mokmoklen is truly able to bring it out in a subtle but magnificent way in the things Yoshiki says , both about himself or others , and also in his relationship with “Hikaru”.

So, I’m not a psychology major myself but from personal experience I believe that Yoshiki presents symptoms of the so called fawn response. Fawning is also known as the “please-appease” syndrome, being mainly associated with people pleasing and codependency (see where I’m already going with this?). Usually these people seek safety by pleasing others as a way of avoiding conflict.

A possible reason as to why people might develop this syndrome is because they grew up in an abusive environment when they were little , maybe seeing one of their caretakers have outbursts of anger (we know that Yoshiki’s parents used to argue to such a degree that neighborhoods could hear them + if I remember correctly it is stated in the light novel that his father always used to slam his hands on the table and such).

As a consequence of this , he learnt that being good and pleasing his father would be the only way to guarantee his own survival. We see this happen in one of the flashbacks where his father grabs him (rather forcefully may I add) by the arm and Yoshiki just let it happen , knowing it’s best not to say anything. Even tho we can see how uncomfortable he looks with his father around.

People suffering from fawn response also have a hard time saying no , feeling guilty about expressing their own needs and feelings. Since growing up in an environment where you have to constantly walk around eggshells with others and where communication has never really been a thing , the things left unsaid make these people start believing that THEY might be the problem.

We see this happen in ch. 7. Now , I know that people will probably have various interpretations of THAT specific sequence of scenes , but personally I interpreted it as a metaphor for attempted r*pe or violation of some sort , with “Hikaru” trying to claim Yoshiki in the only way he knows , because he aches for him so damn much but he realizes that stealing Hikaru’s identity doesn’t make Yoshiki his in any way. He’s different from Hikaru and he can’t and shouldn’t expect to occupy the same spot as Hikaru previously did.

And even tho what “Hikaru” did is horrible , Yoshiki is still the one feeling bad about RIGHTFULLY trying to set some kind of boundary with “Hikaru”. He feels like HE is the one that should be apologizing for being harsh with him.

This brings me onto the next point which is being self-sacrificing , with Yoshiki quite literally feeling guilty for all the deaths happening most probably because of “Hikaru” and even deciding to share the burden of his possible next killings with him. Plus I would also add in what he said in ch.21 , where he literally states that he would give “Hikaru” his whole EVERYTHING if it meant that he could live somewhere as he pleased. He’s always thinking about others’ needs before his owns , deciding to share burdens that don’t have anything to do with him and he shouldn’t be carrying.

Other obvious trait very common in people suffering from this condition is having codependent relationships , which perfectly describes what he has with “Hikaru”. Hikaru is no longer here , so I’d rather have a fake around than having to live without him. This is what he says more or less in ch.1 , and it’s actually so heartbreaking to hear because Hikaru was quite literally Yoshiki’s light and source of comfort. He was the one always protecting Yoshiki and taking care of him. So when “Hikaru” goes “I bet you were crying not wanting for me to leave you” it is actually true , Yoshiki is no good without Hikaru! (or at least that’s what he thinks , but I swear you are baby 😭)

And even tho in ch.21 we see his journey of processing his grief for Hikaru’s death finally ending, he’s now becoming even more attached to “Hikaru” and getting all worried when he started thinking that maybe going back to the mountain might be the best option. You can clearly see his distress as he says “Didn’t you finally find the place you belong? You can’t do that. Let’s find another solution together”

Another thing is obviously the fact that he hates being scolded , especially when he’s so well behaved all the time like mokmoklen said.

I would also like to add the fact that he thinks so lowly of himself when he’s actually such a caring and kindhearted person. He says that he’s not sweet , and that he’s as hard on others like he is on himself. But as soon as Asako feels insecure about her hair he goes “I can definitely ask my mom since she’s a hairdresser” , we can see his kindness in the way he cares for his sister etc …

Anyways this was just me rambling about him because mokmoklen is able to write such beautiful characters and Yoshiki is literally my son

CHARA INTRO: next up, lee hyeon. he's a 25yr old city boy, currently "visiting" yuseong bay (re: staying here indefinitely) to ride out some bad press, as he was an idol up until his group noisily disbanded in late 2023. he's always been interested in cars/had some mechanic experience so he's now the shop hand at park's garage. you can view his stats here & his pinterest here if interested!

when did your muse first arrive in yuseong bay?: has visited a few times before, but moved to yuseong bay indefinitely in february 2024.

what does an average day look like for your muse?: wake up around 6:30 or 7:00am, skincare/brush teeth, go for a jog around town, go back home to have breakfast, go to work, go home to shower and change clothes, go out for a while (probably for a joyride, but maybe somewhere to socialize), go home to spend the rest of the evening helping out around the house or working on music, go to sleep.

where can your muse usually be found?: during the day, he's usually at park's garage. aside from that, he's known to just cruise around in his car; though it is somewhat common to see him in the recreation center's gym or at 88& bar.

how does your muse feel about hanwha resort?: indifferent. it doesn't affect him in any way, but he's currently living with his best friend's grandparents, and he feels a bit sad for them that their quiet little town is becoming a little less quiet. still, he doesn't care a whole lot as it doesn't seem to have done any real harm to the area, and is more just of a nuisance than anything from what he can see.

is there an aspiration for your muse to stay in or leave yuseong bay?: he's waiting out bad press, so he'll probably be in yuseong bay until (a) his location leaks or (b) he can search his name without the disbandment news & articles about him being sued being the first things to come up. he was young when he started training to be an idol & only 18 when he debuted, soooo he's also just now getting a chance to (kind of) relax for the first time in his life—these are his motivations to stay, but he's a city boy at heart & does want to return to being a public figure when the drama dies down, so he'll have to leave sooner or later.

describe your muse's style: simple, straight-forward. a closet full of basics in a dark color palette, but if pay him any mind, you’ll see that most of what he wears is designer—he’ll define his taste as “quiet elegance,” but it’s mostly just his pretentiousness speaking. occasionally wears accent pieces or graphic tees, but mostly stays minimalistic with layered jewelry as the “point”.

three strong likes and dislikes for your muse: really likes reptiles, racing, fashion / really doesn't like scifi, having to share anything, being disagreed with.

three positive and negative traits for your muse: positive decisive, hard-working, supportive / negative dishonest, unloyal, volatile.

three talents and shortcomings for your muse: very musically skilled, esp with producing, great at making decisions when no one else can/wants to (he'll never make you choose where to eat), very handy / poor control on his emotions, often acts without thinking, starts shit he can't finish.

what is a book/tv series/movie/video game character that you feel your character relates to?: mostly mac, some dennis (it's always sunny).

a relevant goal or arch for your character to overcome: hyeon's a very self-focused person. he's not quite as bad as he was when he was a little younger, but he's still quite aggressive & quick to use people for personal gain, then ditch them when they have nothing left to offer—doesn't necessarily want to be like this, and he's gained some self-awareness in recent times. so, it'd be nice if he can (start to) overcome this and view people as... people... instead of tools to get himself further in life!!! which will hopefully be easier for him in a place like yuseong bay anyway, where life is a little slower and the people are more genuine than what he's used to. aside from this, he has some inner child healing he needs to do and also needs to rediscover his own personality outside of the public image he's curated.

MORE INFO!

hyeon was the main rapper/subvocalist of a boy group called twi5t. debuted in 2017, disbanded in late 2023. they were pretty popular and believed by the public to be not just coworkers, but very good friends—which amplified this positive, ideal perception the public had of them. tl;dr is that they all hated each other. the only real friendship was between hyeon and one other member, who happens to be from yuseong bay and whose family hyeon's currently staying with.

in his stint as an idol, hyeon was originally the least popular member of twi5t. had an attitude scandal not long after debut, so he was under scrutiny already and it didn't help that he had a rough sense of humor and a tendency to use banmal with people he ought to be respecting. over the years, he gained (some) public favor thru the extensive producing he did for the group and other groups within the industry, solo variety show appearances, community service he was forced into, etc etc. but even as people cut him more slack and started to like him, he was perceived as being the most problematic one in the group which was... not true...

but i digress. he was one of the first members to start releasing solo music, which he "bribed" the company into. basically said "hey i'll let u guys have more of the profits than stated in my contract if u let me do this" because he was like... 21 and stupid as hell JBSDHJVSBDF like... he really thought that if he gave them a leg up, it would prevent them from trying to fuck him over. spoiler: it didn't. ultimately his contract was amended and resulted in the profits from everything with his name as an individual on it being split 60% to the company and 40% to him, but he didn't realize this was a permanent thing until a few years down the line when people who'd featured on his songs were making more money off said songs than he was. atp he was one foot out the door, not caring too much about the company or group 'cause fuck those guys for real...

still tried to be on his best behavior and was gonna wait out the contract, but shit started going extremely south with the group in 2023 and hyeon got sued into the ground for slander & breach of contract over a drunk instagram live he did where he was talking about it. aired out not only the group, but the company's business—basically talking about how the members didn't get along, citing a few instances, bitching about management never helping and just sweeping problems under the rug, mentioning how the company trapped him in an unfair contract, etc etc. so yea... his reputation's in the dirt!

anyway... he's 25 now. his brain's finally fully developed. he's learned from his mistakes. he's a better & smarter man than he used to be, but still has a long way to go. picked up a job at park's garage not longer after moving to yuseong bay, as he doesn't like to have too much time to sit around and sulk—helps that he's extremely interested in cars & had some prior mechanic experience from pre-debut and sidework for friends throughout his career.

speaking of cars........ he has two: a 2008 mitsubishi eclipse spyder, which usually sits @ the garage and his flashy daily driver, a 2022 mclaren 765lt. who's he pissing off when he goes joyriding with the top down?

(Mis)Understanding Type 4 PT 2

Introduction

This is a Rant/Informative post on how people misunderstand enneagram 4. I would suggest checking enneagrammers type 4 section cuz its well written and its probably one of the best ways to clear allot of misunderstanding plus I'll be referencing it allot...like allot. ill go over some common mistypings ive seen around as well as misconceptions and certain nuances people often ignore.

Every type is and wants to be special its not limited to E4.

“4’s don’t want to be separate, they’re coming from a place of already being so. 4's are unaware of how to modulate themselves to anything if it contradicts their inner experience.” This often leads for people to not understand how type 4s work and end up mistyping others due to certain believe that wanting to be unique and special is SOLELY a type 4 trait. All enneatypes want to be special and stand out in their own way. Especially when it comes to attachment types because “Often the attachment types get stuck to the idea of being a 4 because they are dealing with a type structure that consciously fighting against the unconscious urge to actually be in sync with others.”

Some Misconceptions

“Being candid about traumatic experiences (this can be anyone, but less likely a withdrawn type)

Self-deprecation (this is seen most often in 6's and 9's especially if there's 4 in the trifix, also 7w6)

Being artistic (any type can be artistic, 4's just have a specific aesthetic expression need that's tied into their type structure)

Being depressed (depression and/or sadness are emotions/conditions that can be experienced by all types, even bright 7's, and many 4's are not depressed at all)

Being moody/dramatic (4's do tend to be reactive and moody, but so do 6's and 7w8’s)

Being unique or weird (4's individuate constantly, but any type can do unique and strange things, ex. Lady GaGa is a 7, Björk is a 9)

Being overly emotional (all types have emotions, not all types identify with them, but type 6 as the most outwardly emotional type in some cases)

Enduring pain on the inside and having to smile on the outside (this is highly 9ish and not ever 4ish)

Feeling detached from mainstream things (this is true of 4, but any type can be sardonic and biting about "basic" people or mainstream things, type 6 for example can either be the one doing what everyone else is doing or the one who's sarcastically speaking out against it)

Fearing being flawed (4’s feel that the world is shallow and flawed and they are too deep for it, this creates a frustration and fantasy around their superior self-image)”

Mistyping 4s

When it comes to 3s- Two common mistyping when it comes to attachment types are Pearl (ESFP 3w2 so/sx) and Asuka Langley Soryu (ENTJ 3w4 so/sx) Being typed as 4w3 sx/so. Due to their need to stand out HOWEVER their need to stand out and be their BEST SELF Pearl being a Star who is seen as great and love by the public while Asuka being the best EVA Pilot and proving her competency. While a sx 4 would present an image of brokenness and sadness look at Prince Zuko for example (ISFP 4w3 sx/sp) he presents an Image of brokenness and constantly over indulges in anger and melancholy. Also Pearl and Asuka a wtihdrawn type...no. Both of these two are way too expressive to be 4s. Also very clear attachment types. In Asuka’s case we see she searches for love in being the best Eva pilot and creating interpersonal relationships in school while Pearl does this through status and becoming a Star.

When it Comes to 6s- a common mistyping I see its Mitski (INFP 6w5 sp/sx) Due to the self preservation 6 being on the most reserved side of things and both can complain allot due to both being in the reactive triad however when it comes to separating and differentiating these types is that a 6 is still craving connection (due to being an attachment type) and 4s are a rejection type while sure they want to make connection they might negate it all together. Also 6s are incredibly interested In problem solving and are interested in dissecting an issue while 4s dont really care about problem solving “However, 6's will still display a need for acceptance, a fear of being cast away, and they will emphasize how different/problematic they are as if it's a problem/danger to be put on the table right away. Even when 6's are at their most negative, they still tend to be funny and likeable.”

When it comes to 7- I typed Jules Vaugh as a 4 in my ENFP characters post and I might go back on that however for a very clear mistyping of a 7 as a 4 is Laurie “Theodore” Lawrence from little woman 2019. In my opinion Laurie is a ISFP 7w6 sx/so rathe than a sp 4w5. The differences between 4 and 7 are a bit more notable even tho both of them are frustration types. 7s tend to be highly positive individuals who are constantly looking for good expiernces and understanding of the world. 4s on the other hadn't complain about what they don't have and focuses on the negative aspects more. 4s are withdrawn types while 7s are positive types. I just dont get how Laurie is a 4 im sorry. I thought his journey was very clear that Amy pushed him to integrate to his 1 while he was wasting his life and talents. it

Comes to 9s- This is probably the most continuous out of the previous type you'll notice that most 4s in media are probably mistyped 9s (I myself mistyped Amanda Young From the Saw Franchise as a 4w3 when it makes more sense for her to be a 9w8 sx/sp) But the most common mistypings ive seen in this case is Wanda Maximoff (INFP 9w8 sx/sp) and Camille Preaker (INFP 9w8 sx/sp) Mostly you'll see them typed as 4w5 sp/sx or sx/sp in Wanda’s Case. 4s tend to hate masking their disdain for things and others while 9s tend to present a more calm exterior. In the case of Camille and Wanda both Sx 9s they care about interpersonal relationships and dont have the boundry in interpersonal relationship 4s have. They see themselves as specially unique in comparison to orders. Due to being in the gut type 9s are prone to anger and tend to struggle with this. A thing we see with Wand and Camille struggle with. Both of them go into a haze of sort when it comes to dealing with problem rather than dealing with them like any assertive type like 4 would. Also it's very clear that both of them are attachment types not frustration types.

There are some other mistyping such as 8 vs 4 but I just think that’s plain misunderstanding.

most active muse(s)?: richie is 110% hogging my muse right now.

rp pet peeves?: mmmm politely declining to answer this one. I'd like to think I'm sweet! But I'm also by default something of an irritable person; I try to ignore my pet peeves because I know they're often unreasonably petty and unkind of my brain.

years of experience?: since I was a wee'un! I was the kind of kid who ran around make-believing that I was a character in the Hardy Boys and stuff like that, and that and creative writing were my pipeline into written rp. I started on forums writing warri/or cat ocs, and it was a whole journey from there. I starting rping on tumblr in 2012.

fluff, angst, or smut?: I like all of them! Angst most of all. I had a period of time where I wasn't writing smut so much, but I'm swinging back into finding it fun to write more regularly. And fluff can be fun! Tho I tend to prefer fluff threads in established dynamics. I think it adds a lil extra depth to it for me.

plots or memes?: Both! I do like memes, though I find the threads have something of a tendency to peter out without any ooc discussion to direct it? Unless you've discussed some kind of dynamic prior to meme-ing back and forth? In which case I think the memes can carry themselves more. If that makes sense?

long or short replies?: I like both! My muse is very fickle, so I never make any promises either was as to which length of reply is more likely to get an answer faster. I try very hard to consistently craft replies I'm proud of; the length is less important to me. I tend toward longer replies when there's more plot behind the thread; otherwise, it's the whims of my muse.

time to write?: it used to be night time (like, 3 or 4 am) but now the best time i have to write is between classes, around noon, or while laying in bed at like, 7 or 8 am before i crash, some "nights".

are you like your muse(s)?: i would say harry is most like me! but i tend away from my own traits in writing characters, as a rule of thumb. it's more fun for me to write someone i don't have as much in common with.

Kleo + Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader - Storyteller Tarot Reading

Hello and welcome to my another experiment trying to find out what’s actually possible with tarot and oracle cards.

This time I have asked myself, what if I became a part of my favourite story and could actually meet my favourite fictional characters? What role would I play in the story? How would the original story change if I were a part of it? What kind of relationship would I have with my favourite fictional character? And how would our story end?

This type of tarot reading is similar to the hypothetical scenario of I, Villain tarot readings I did recently, only it simply portrays a full story and interactions with already existing fictional characters. Obviously I wouldn’t be able to be my true self in the story, I would have to be a fictional character, too, to be able to interact with other fictional characters, so this reading might only include some of my real life traits and some of my qualities have to completely change for the sake of the story.

You would probably think, I will go for Mr. Darcy first, but nope! My Mr. Darcy was Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader from the Star Wars universe and so I’m here today to show you how my test round went when I asked my cards what it would look like if I were a part of Anakin’s / Vader’s story.

P.S. Yes, I know I have a mile long to-do request list but you have to understand that my mind never stops and never rests and if I don’t let at least some ideas out, my head will explode. But don’t worry. I work on the requests, too.

Kleo + Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader

What would be our story about?

Cards: Alchemist (Archetype Cards), Knight of Swords, Page of Pentacles, Ace of Cups (Dark Wood Tarot), 4 of Swords, Knight of Pentacles, 5 of Wands (Edgar Allan Poe Tarot)

It looks like our story wouldn’t lack some drama. It’s possible that I would clash with Anakin or Darth Vader on intellectual or wit bases. We might struggle to find a common ground, him being the ego driven and fast thinking and acting villain using all his knowledge to assert his dominance and gain more and more power. While I would be the curious one trying to dig through all the smoke and steel and find the real man, probably made of smoky grey steel, underneath. It’s very likely for me to find myself imprisoned and in danger at one point. Anakin / Vader could really consider having me executed in the story, thus those swords hanging over the motionless body. As we would be more or less rivals, but more on the personal level than professional one, arguing and fighting, he might be tempted to just remove me from the picture. On the other hand, the ace of cups suggests I would have something highly desired by him, a holy grail he wants and obsesses about. I can’t really be sure what this ultimate treasure could be - it could be something tangible as a real treasure or something more philosophical as a redemption for his soul through an actual bond with someone. It’s obvious I can see more than he can see, I can read the circumstances with a certain wisdom he’s lacking and might get into trouble due to his short sightedness.

What relationship would we have?

Lol! Prince card right from the bet! Anyway! It looks like he would try to hide his romantic feelings slowly building up through the quarrels. You see the prince figure is hiding the flowers behind their back denoting a secret romance, something that’s suppressed. Because this is supposed to describe the relationship from my perspective, it’s possible I’m unaware of his feelings for a long time in the story (especially when he wants to kill me) and I’m trying to get upper hand over him, sneak away, battle him and gain some freedom (the ankle shackles are broken on the 7 of Swords). There’s obviously a breaking point, a plot twist, probably when I think he died and I lost him forever when I realise the true feelings which are far from animosity. The Empress card shows a white tree suddenly blossoming red in the middle of the night, something beautiful emerging from darkness and growing into abundance. Both the Empress and Queen of Pentacles cards suggest connection with nature and healing. It’s possible that the plot twist includes me bringing Anakin / Vader back from death, healing him with my power and ultimately falling in mutual love as depicted in the 10 of Cups (which also show a lot of nature).

What would be the ending of our story?

Seriously, what are the chances of getting cards which show the higher ground (7 of Wands), flames (4 of Shields) and lava similar to the scene from Star Wars III when Anakin is defeated by Obi-Wan and reduced to like a half of a man, in a tarot reading that’s connected to him? Lol! Okay! Let’s rewrite the Star Wars III ending in this reading. In this story Anakin has me by his side which turns the wheel of fortune to his favour. Obviously. I’m basically a living lucky charm. Anakin’s and mine story ends with us defeating any opposition by working towards goals together, riding the lucky wave and avoiding lava by stepping on the stones and progressing quickly. As the Page of Swords show, together we are more than just a sum of our traits, we are bigger together. Together we can face the thunderstorm and instead of being hit by lightning, utilise its power for our benefit. The end of the story seems to be an open one, though. Actually an opening for more adventures to come.

That's a dangerous ask, be prepared to read all the lovely Lin rambles.

1: sexuality headcanon

Given that canon wise she dated Tenzin, I feel Lin is at least bisexual. I prefer her paired with women in my own biased skewed view. She strikes me as someone who is less concerned with the parts and more about the smarts.

2. OTP

I liked the OTP happiness with Lin, but lately, I've been branching out to some different pairing ideas that have led to some explosive, emotional and beautiful love poems. Lin doesn't NEED anyone, so what would it look like if she chose someone.

Lin x Kya - My original go-to pairing. Mostly due to being close in age, and I liked the polar opposite factor of these two outwardly. The idea that, if they could find common ground and a way to work out their differences with communication, then each provides the pairing with their own traits that balance one another out. Kya's "water off a ducks back" laid-back attitude serves to either infuriate or teach Lin that some things are okay to let slide and to just "live in the moment." Likewise, Lin's more grounded personality could help keep them on track and avoid undesirable consequences (we can't always live on the edge of our seats) but might become tedious for Kya.

Lin x Kuvira - This is probably my OTP for Lin currently. I feel like the age gap adds elements to a relationship that those closer in age do not get. Lin has wisdom, experience and patience on her side. Kuvira has youthful exuberance, new perspectives and a connection to current developments. In this pairing, Kuvira can help keep the stubborn Lin abreast of newer more efficient ways of life, reconnect Lin with shelved hobbies/dreams and challenge out of date beliefs. Both women share a level of maturity, past trauma that with the right partner, can be explored and healed through time and of course a steady personality. Challenges to this pairing would be stubbornness, uncompromising or shame from society's views on large age gaps between partners.

Lin x Korra - So similar to the Kuvira situation with a few exceptions and a lesser feeling of connect. I think Korra would add a very playful, adventurous, and tender aspect to the relationship. Having her own trauma to work through, I think she could provide a safe haven for Lin in their relationship to work through her own skeletons in the closet. There would probably be a lot of fluff in this relationship because of how playful Korra can be. As Avatar, she embodies a lot of the other elements and can pretty wild and free-spirited; perhaps too much for Lin. The disconnect and challenges would be both can be uncompromisingly stubborn and explosive. Korra's outward bursts would put Lin on the defensive and shut down any chance of negotiation. Lin might be too grounded for Korra, even if they could kick it off.

3: brotp

Mako. He's definitely her protégé and shows similarities with her work ethic. I think ultimately she can count on Mako and probably does some lowkey venting with him around.

4: notp

Hmmm I don't have a strong feeling here. Probably not any of the young guys? I don't see Lin as a cougar and I think anyone younger is probably the pursuer in their relationship.

5: first headcanon that pops into my head

Lin started the coffee, then headed to the cupboard to grab a mug. Inside was a metal rose in each of the mugs, with a note tucked between two of them. "This way, whatever one you choose, you'll be thinking of me" the note said in neat cursive writing. Lin smiled and relieved the cupboard of a simple green mug with its own personal metal rose.Kuvira was right, Lin would be thinking of her all day now.

See above quote. I spent most of my life trying to make a parent love me through doing what I thought they wanted. Like Lin says, it doesn't work and don't make the same mistake!

FNV Companions play Project Zomboid

A/N: Forewarning - i’m not good at zomboid and have a far from comprehensive understanding of the game. This is based off my experience of it. Spoiler warning for Project Zomboid Lore. Also,,,just suspend your disbelief for a moment and pretend that a game like Zomboid could be run on a typical fallout terminal.

Some companions are left out because I don’t know enough about them to write them well, apologies in advance.

Special thanks to my good friend, who wants to be credited as ‘Creative Bounce-Wall’

Base Game Companions:

Arcade

Not a huge fan of the game's solo experience and only plays with other people. Life’s hard enough, and if he’s trying to unwind on a weekend or on his days off, he’s really only looking to have a good time. Project zomboid isn’t his speed of game at all. Despite this, he loves to roleplay (as a doctor, surprise.) makes very good use of the empty notebooks, has a lore-compliant full ‘7 days of our lives’ soap opera going on between his character and a few others. Could (and probably should) put it in a book and sell it, how good it is.

DO NOT ask him to clear out buildings. His murdering skills IRL do not translate to zomboid. Lost 10 characters trying to clear out one neighbourhood block on Muldraugh and is still a bit upset about it. Establish a base, grab some materials, THEN invite Arcade to join. He’ll keep the place organised, level up his stats and keep everyone else alive. Despite this,he has yet to make it to winter, poor thing. He also turns jumpscare volume down. Once, he screamed so loud that he awoke the whole mormon fort.

GAMEPLAY:

General: He spawn in Muldraugh, and ONLY Muldraugh. It’s comfortable, has tons of loot, and, most importantly, he knows the place like the back of his hand. Respawn is OFF. Once burned, twice shy. Canned goods set to abundant, Melee weapons, Medical and Literature set to common. All clothing is unlocked at the start, but only so he can wear medical gear.Otherwise, standard apocalypse settings.

Character(s): For the way he likes to play, you’d think he’d choose less negative traits.

Career set to Doctor (of course) Starts in muldraugh and works his way up to the medical centre above the neighbourhood with high fences next to the grocery store (you’ll know it when you see it). Lives upstairs, turns the downstairs into a makeshift hospital. His character is fixated on finding a cure, or at least a way to slow down the virus from spreading, which eventually evolves into staying alive while the world goes to hell around him. There’s a whole character arc that’s constantly developing, and he puts a lot of care and love into his character. The first time a long-term character died, he didn’t touch the game for two weeks.

Like Arcade, it took a while for him to get into Project Zomboid. It’s not that he doesn’t like it, just that it’s a little complicated. He played the tutorial six times before he felt ready to actually play the game (no shade ofc).Eventually found his groove, and hasn’t deviated since. Really enjoys the punishing aspect of the game, only roleplays to the extent of going along with other people’s characters. Doesn’t pay attention to the lore. More or less just plays the game as himself. Gets put into the designated mercenary role if playing with others, and is given a dedicated safe room with full amenities and services, in exchange for clearing out requested buildings. Surprisingly hasn’t died as many times as everyone else. Currently on a quest to clear out Louisville, and god help anyone who gets in his way.

Gameplay:

General: Initially spawned in March Ridge and didn’t have a good time. Once he conquered that area, he moved on to greater challenges. Fuck being a badass, this guy is death incarnate. Doesn’t matter what settings he’s playing on, he’ll have 10 in all stats before you know it. His only real request is to increase how many hours an in-game day is from 1 to 4.

Character(s): Death incarnate, all black everything. Pulled a giga-brain move and chose Security Guard as a career instead of veteran. His only recurring habit is to make a memorial for Carla and his unborn child (a grave filled in, with a box of mostly sentimental supplies no one is allowed to touch).

Jk but she’s raiding Liquorty-split first. Don’t call her along if you’re not planning on swinging by there. Enjoys roleplaying, but not to the same extent as Arcade.Mostly dicks around with joke characters, her favourite being Long Johnson, who’s proficient in long blunt weapons. Doesn’t break the immersion of other players, though. Capitalises on Boone's Bloodlust and follows behind him like a vulture, scavenging all the loot he ignores to sell at exorbitant prices. Doesn’t pay too much attention to the lore, only to the extent of making relevant conversation with whatever roleplayer ends up in her shop. Main clientele base consists of the hardcore builders.

Gameplay:

General: Spawned in Riverside and legitimately thought her game was broken until she came across Boone. More than a little upset that there’s no Merchant career, or any NPC’s, but quickly found a way to make it all work in her favour. Enjoys a challenge, but doesn’t want things too intense. Respawns are off, infection mortality takes 1-2 weeks to kick in, and infection can only be spread via saliva. No loot respawns, so that her monopoly will remain unchallenged.

Character(s): Tried on a few personas, but her favourite has to be Long Johnson, former saleswoman for outdoor fishing supplies, proficient in spears and phallic puns. Goal number one is to stay alive. Goa number two is to get stupid rich, so she can stay alive. Career set to Park Ranger

Negative Traits: Unfit/Very Underweight/Smoker/Sleepyhead/High Thirst/Athsmatic/Prone to Illness

An actual masochist. The more she gets punished, the more she enjoys it. Gt gifted the game and literally did not stop playing for two days straight. The thing that peeled her away from the screen was Raul threatening to smash the holotape. Has a set preset for her canon fodder character, whenever she needs to clear out an area she really has no business even approaching, but really only uses them to further her character’s plot, of course. Master of roleplaying. She and Arcade Get Into It. Unlike him, who has one dedicated character, she has a rotating cast of characters. Her favourite is an absolute fucking meme, and she will not let go of it no matter how Arcade feels. She's the only one who's made it to winter during solo play on default Apocalypse settings. Got pretty spoiled while playing with Arcade, and now sets Canned Goods and Medical supplies to abundant. First one to perfect the fence lunge strat, and a master of peeling hordes until they're all dead. Another motherfucker who needs to commit her character’s deeds to paper and publish it. All of her characters keep journals. She’ll forget about them, come across a corpse that died in an…interesting way and bring herself to tears with shit she forgot she wrote. Buries all her characters, and all the zombies in her area too. Really really enjoys playing ‘A really CD DA’, and is the only one who can really get anywhere with it (swear i’m not just showing my ass here).

Gameplay:

General: Muldraugh is the only valid spawn point, it has EVERYTHING. An added bonus is the objectively best base is less than a day's walk. The warehouse is even on the way there. (It’s the cabin in the woods with a well, up the street from the food stand and across from the warehouse, it's so safe).

Character(s): (these are the traits for her main character, though it varies depending on what character she’s playing at the moment)

ED-E

Curse the soul who made it possible for this robot to interface with this software. ED-E sees the whole venture not as a way to interact with his companions in a meaningful, perhaps revolutionary way, but as a means to fuck with them even more. The main victim of his devious schemes is Arcade, of course. Machines might be able to forget, but ED-E has Arcade’s condescending remark burned into his hardware. In hindsight, it was less than wise to get on a debatably sentient machine’s bad side. Software being his native form of communication, ED-E was easily able to woo the application into doing his bidding causing game-breaking bugs, corrupting save files and overall making things unbearable in ways that targeted Arcade, and Arcade alone. When forced to play fair, he goes out of his way to attract as many zombies as possible and lead them directly to where Arcade’s clinic is.

"Forget being an enclave spy bot, 'ED-E', as you call him, is a malevolent piece of software and should be terminated immediately" - Arcade Gannon

Gameplay:

General: His one goal is to find Arcade and make him as miserable as possible, and the only thing really stopping him is the godforsaken lag from too many uglies in one area. He's left some surprise hordes other characters have stumbled across (much to his amusement).

Character(s): Default character. Unemployed. Death comes in many forms, after all.

Negative Traits: Claustrophobic/Agoraphobic/Cowardly/Slow Healer/Short Sighted/Overweight/Conspicuous

Positive Traits: Sprinter, Athletic, Strong, Thick Skin, Adrenaline Junkie

Joshua Graham ||WARNING, VERY OOC||

Step one: Clain holy grace church.

Not really a fan of video games and wouldn’t play if it weren’t for the begging, pleading and bribing of others. Really only does it for the benefit of others, and doesn’t enjoy it much. Really mellowed out after the events of Honest Hearts. Touching a game, much less Project Zomboid would be inconceivable before. Doesn’t really ‘get’ the game, but is surprisingly competent. Good, even. Thinks there’s more enjoyment to be had away from a terminal screen, and doesn’t mind that others play so long as they don’t neglect their responsibilities. Understands enough of the game to know how things work, and will suggest solutions if someone should ever become stuck somehow. Encourages the dead horses who play to transcribe the entire mormon Bible into the game, as memorization practice.

Gameplay: Spawned in muldraugh only because it was the first option, really. Default settings.

Character(s): His one (and only character) is more or less himself, sans burns. No real dimension to them, and he only plays if someone needs help clearing out a building or wants to show him something they’re proud of. Career set to veteran. If he could be convinced, and if there was a public server with a good amount of players, he could start delivering sermons, as a way to reach more people. Actually serves to deepen the roleplay experience for some. Will do Bible study with those who are genuinely interested.

Negative Traits: Sunday driver/Slow Reader/Unlucky/Slow Reader/Weak Stomach/Thin Skinned/Slow Healer/Restless Sleeper/Sleepyhead/High Thirst

Positive Traits: Dextrous/First Aider/Eagle Eyed/Athletic/Strong

Ulysses || WARNING, VERY OOC||

Never enjoyed the game and overall ignored the lore until he discovered the debug menu and cheats, then he became very interested. He’s a major fan of the horror genre and setting, but detests horror games; real life is strenuous enough, and a game like Zomboid is not relaxing to him. The realism and overall environment, however, piqued his analytical nature. He created a sandbox world with no zombies just so that he could absorb the world and the lore uninterrupted. Through this, he came to love the game not for what it was, but what it could be molded to be. Ulysses is a man who enjoys writing as much as he does reading, and Zomboid serves as a beta testing ground his characters deeds and thoughts before he commits then to paper. To Ulysses, Zomboid is a visual, interactive writing tool. If there's a gamebreaking bug discovered, expect him to have patched it a week later. The dev team has reached out and offered him a position, but he had yet to reply (he just wants to finish his book first tbh) In this regard, His greatest ally is ED-E. The bot's antics serve as free bug testing for just about every aspect of the game. They haven't interacted at all, but so long as ED-E doesn't fuck with Ulysses specifically, the world will know peace.

Author of some of the most immersive and comprehensive mods in the workshop. Forum users have to assume Ulysses is always watching, always looking for an aspect to improve. While mostly focused on immersion, he's made a few joke ones (shocker, I know). Equal distribution between mechanic and location mods. His personal favourites are the 'Corpses as fertilizer' mod, the 'Back Alley Surgeon mod - which relies on his NPC mods - as well as his Expanded Cannibals and Improved Isolation Hallucinations.

Gameplay:

General: Overall gameplay depends on what character he’s puppeting around. Spawns depend on who, or what map he’s playing on, though the most frequent location is in Rosewood. Debug menu is up, and God Mode is toggled on. Settings may vary, but the staples are Sandbox mode with respawn turned off, Weapons set to abundant, Nighttime sprinters, Low population, Water/Electricity Shutoff in 0-2 months and helicopter events set to Often.

Character(s): Ulysses has several, numbering in the dozens. All are unique and serve a purpose in his overall plot. Each character has their own preset

Negative Traits: Depends on the character, but Slow Reader gives him time to write and edit a few paragraphs.

Positive Traits: Depends on the character, but dexterous is almost always a must.

Mods: Authentic Z/Superior Survivors/4-colour Bic pen/Cannibalism/Assisted Suicide/The Only Cure/True action (all versions)/Expanded Helicopter Events/Skill Recovery Journal

What experiments are the highly secretive and less than neighborly Loki and Circe Beaker performing on poor Nervous Subject? Will this secrecy affect Circe's career ambitions?

As soon as he perfects his latest invention, Loki is sure to get the recognition he knows he deserves. In the meantime, he keeps himself busy by trying to assemble a nuclear reactor out of common household items.

I just really need to give Seven a hug right now, I’m on day 9 of his route and I’m really worried about his mental health…

Yeah... yeah. He needs it, even if he insists he doesn't.

So, I never realized how many people get that one particular bad ending on Seven's route because they misread his social cues or don't understand why he's acting the way he is.

Everything that he has ever done was for Saeran. He'd do whatever he could to defend him from their mother, he'd sneak Saeran out for sunshine and ice cream, and when he went to the church, he'd take back extra food for Saeran. He didn't want to leave his brother, but he was told that the best way to help Saeran would be to make a ton of money so they'd have a place to live and be safe and far away from both of their horrible parents.

He was a kid. He's smart, a downright genius when it comes to "book smarts," such as learning how to hack and code and build robots or how to speak 7 languages. But he's still a kid and he didn't have normal life experiences that would help him in the common sense area. He had no reason to distrust V or Rika, who'd been kind to him and supported him.

So he threw everything away to join that miserable agency and do disgusting work, because he knew--or he thought he knew--that would help Saeran. That agency worked him to the bone and exploited him in ways I don't particularly want to discuss. Physically, mentally, emotionally. He wasn't kidding when he said a single joke could make him end up floating in the river. He let that agency do whatever to him because he was convinced it would help Saeran. He was living vicariously through his twin, because in his eyes "Saeran and I are one." He could forgo his name, his identity, his "home," his everything... except Saeran.

He was stripped bare into being a mannequin, a puppet for the agency to use and abuse as it pleased, with only one defining trait that kept him strong and constant: his love for his brother.

It wasn't until he got the floppy disk from Rika with the pictures of his brother smiling and being happy in the sunshine that he allowed himself to smile too. He didn't create the goofy 707 mask until he saw Saeran's joy.

"If Saeran can't have it, neither can I." That was his mantra.

Imagine learning every person sacrifice you made was in vain. Sleepless nights, being thrown all over the world, calluses upon calluses on your overworked fingers, constantly fearing for your life, being violated and treated as less than human--less than dirt even. Every life he took, every secret he leaked, every target he destroyed. He took every sin of his in stride because he was ready to become a demon if that meant Saeran could have peace, love, and happiness. Why do you think he chose "Luciel" for his baptismal name?

It was all for nothing. He's truly destroyed down to his core. He can't trust anything. He doesn't know how to cope with that. He's numb with despair but also boiling with anger and all he can do is focus on the task in front of him.

He's hurt enough people. He can't let someone innocent like you get caught in his web of destruction. As much as he wants to be close to you...

He won't damn you, too.

tl;dr: he needs a hug SO badly but you have to wait until he's ready! Don't smother him or push him. He's going through a lot. Treating him like silly haha man or trying to seduce him will only end in tragedy.

Common Signs that you have the correct type

I hadn’t put these on tumblr & it occurred to me that I probably should

Embarassment - IMHO the esoterics ppl overstate this, it's not per se true that you have to hate it if you're the correct type, why would all people have the same reaction? But it certainly is something that commonly happens - seeing unflattering sides or vulnerable motivations exposed, not wanting ppl to know this about you, being distressed about how you might appear unpleasant to others, how you might be shooting yourself in the foot, limited in your capacities, or predictable/ not as unique as you thought. It's common to feel that your type sucks the most because you see the downsides every day whereas what you see of others is what they choose to present. There are correctly types ppl who are at peace with their type but that tends to come from a "the good stuff is worth the downsides" type of reasoning rather than, say, making it your username & getting it on a mug & seeing it as something you'd want to brag about.

"Wait, I thought everyone did this???" - you'd be surprised of how much of their types' basic experiences & assumptions ppl take for granted - even the less common types who know theyre weird in some ways.

Relief - "Thank Goodness I'm not mad...." - happens even to the more common types, cause, in how many settings can you really compare your inner thoughts with others without risk of judgment?

"This seems like the best fit, but I'm not sure I'm X enough to be type Y", where X is some positive trait associated with the type - not chill enough to be a 9, not successful enough to be a 3, don't do enough stuff to be a 7, not responsible enough to be a 6 etc. and so on. A common, symptom of being type Y is that it never feels like you have enough X. At least on the middle average levels.

You see it as a complex pattern that causes both strengths & weaknesses, not just singular, idealized traits like "nice", "creative" or "smart".

You can confirm it by multiple means - triads, trait structure, attention pattern, stress responses, what your inner world is like etc.

Creating a Well-rounded Character. - What is a Character?

Making a character for your story has many steps. I’ll walk you through some of them in a series of articles.

Firstly, what is a character? Are there different types?

In a novel, a character is a fictional person or being that plays a role in the story. Characters are often the driving force behind the narrative, and their thoughts, actions, and interactions shape the plot and engage readers. They are typically developed with unique personalities, backgrounds, motivations, and relationships to make them believable and relatable.

Yes, there are different types of characters in a novel, each serving different functions within the story. Here are a few common character types:

1. Protagonist: The central character around whom the story revolves. They typically face challenges, pursue goals, and undergo personal growth or transformation. 2. Antagonist: The character or force that opposes the protagonist, creating conflict and obstacles to overcome. Antagonists can be individuals, groups, or even internal struggles. 3. Supporting characters: These characters complement the protagonist and help move the story forward. They often have distinct personalities, roles, and relationships with the main character. 4. Foil characters: Foils are characters who contrast with the protagonist, highlighting their qualities and characteristics. They can emphasize different perspectives or motivations. 5. Dynamic characters: These characters undergo significant changes or growth throughout the story, often as a result of their experiences or interactions. 6. Static characters: Static characters remain relatively unchanged throughout the narrative, maintaining consistent traits and behaviors. 7. Round characters: Round characters are complex and multi-dimensional, with a mix of strengths, weaknesses, and internal conflicts. They often feel more realistic and relatable. 8. Flat characters: Flat characters are less developed and have fewer complexities, serving specific roles or functions within the story.

These character types provide a framework for understanding and categorizing the various individuals within a novel, but keep in mind that characters can also exhibit traits from multiple types or evolve over time. Ultimately, a well-written novel typically features a diverse cast of characters that contribute to the story’s depth and impact.

Remember, they’re more than just a cardboard cutout!

OOF. WHAT A WAY TO START. i think theres a Lot about himself bo doesn't like and he's still coming to terms with what a lot of that means like. In Context. of like. Everything. but i think Right Now the thing he doesn't like the most is that he makes people sad. because he can Tell but he also cant Help It and he's trying to find the balance between. opening up. and making people Worry about him. because he!!! does not want to affect the people he cares about in a negative way!!! its fine if they do that to him but not the other way around. he's not supposed to take up space <3

14. do you have a favourite conversation that they’ve had with another character? briefly describe it!

i definitely have favorite conversations with the pcs, but i think my favorite conversation with an npc was when they were in the book and bo got. a little mad. at bubba. for not just working things out with ezzy. and yelled at him a wittle bit. just bc i think that was like a Turning Point for bo of like. maybe the first time he ever acted selfishly towards someone? and knew he was acting selfish and said it anyway? and just being like. actually me and rosie deserve a full family so why cant you get your shit together. which like. in hindsight with everything we know about them now, Harrowing for bubba, but it was also bo like. showing he felt safe enough with bubba to get upset at him? bc that's pretty rare for bo

21. without revealing any secrets, how much of your character’s backstory does the rest of your party know about? 20%? 75%? 0%?

i mean. broad strokes, 100%. there's always going to be little details to flesh out, but bo backstory was pretty simple and didn't get changed at all from original version to now. all the nuance that's come with it has come from hollis. i didnt know jack shit about bubba or him and eabha's relationship or the rangers or anything. i found out In Game with everyone else (madly affectionate)

28. what is something that helps to comfort them?

talking to kai <3 kai is really good at both grounding him but also making him like. actually deal with stuff so he gets it out of his system. he's used to being like. oh i'm upset. gonna bury this forever. but kai is like. okay bud we're gonna talk through it and then chill out and bo is like wait huh this actually helps?? wild

35. pick a character that they know. what is something that they do that your character finds annoying/frustrating?

flip side of that,,, less annoying and more frustrating / concerning but. kai not eating well <3 bo is such a big food guy and like. is so used to people showing care through food. and so kai will stress bo needs to take care of himself because he deserves to feel good and then will have like. an iced coffee for breakfast and not eat again for 8 hours and it drives bo insane. he doesn't understand how they can be so in tune with things emotionally and also expect so much from their body and fighting abilities and then not take care of it right

42. how similar is your character to you?

MEAN QUESTION. i think more similar than i would like to admit but not as similar as i would fear. i think we have some good traits in common and some bad traits in common and some hangups in common but overall we have fairly different like. cores. and life experiences, obv. it is sometimes hard for me to play bo cause im like noooooo i dont want to say this but its what bo would say!!! it what bo would think!!!! im very much a Character Actor as a player and me and bo differ. A Lot in how we go about the world

Race : Wyverian (though he has slight Changeling DNA, but he doesn’t have any Changeling attribut. However, his cousin Musica awakened his genes so he can turn into a female wherever he wants to be one)

Wyverian traits : Digitigrade feet, pinkish-dark purple scales along his spine, sharp claws, enhanced hearing.

Gaïana :

Height : 5′7″ (170 cm)

Age : 260 years

Weight : 150 lbs (68 kg) (as a Wyverian) / 161 lbs (73 kg) (as a Crystalling)

Gender : Female

Sexuality : Heterosexual, but she is also Homocurious (she also likes doing it with female Zellard)

Birthday : September 14th

Zodiac Sign : Virgo

Race : Wyverian / Crystalling (she has the ability to completely change her appearance : her Wyverian side shows her with red curly hair and blue eyes, as well as a pink dress, whereas her Crystalling form shows her with straight purple hair and a Crystal-like armor, as well as multiples tatoos throughout her body)

Alpha ? Beta ? (Wyverian only) : Beta (though she somewhat seems Alpha as a Crystalling)

Wyverian traits : pink scales from her back down to her hips (the shape ressembles a heart), enhanced sight.

Common Points between them :

It was pretty easy for both to confess their love for each other : in other words, they are not scared to show their feelings to the other.

Both cooks, and they both are pretty good at it.

Overprotective towards one another, though Zellard stands out in that.

Both already had at least 2 relationship experiences before.

Both have a formal attire where they are calm and collected, but they also have an “armor” and are good fighters ; you better not mess with them !

Both have a battle scared body, though Gaïana only has a few that can be seen in her Crystalling form, though they are slightly visible.

Considering the fact that both of them are Wyverians, they both have “heat periods”, though Gaïana has way less periods like this than Zellard thanks to her 50% Crystalling genes.

None of them are awkward at all in their relationship.

Differences between them :

Gaïana can be really fancy and extravagant. Zellard may wear some fancy clothes sometimes, he is way more reserved than her in that regard.

Gaïana often borrows clothes from Zellard, and Zellard doesn’t mind lending them to her : he find it amusing.

Sometimes, Gaïana likes to tease Zellard by using pet names on him. Zellard does it way less, but it’s just to make her regret that.

Gaïana is more outgoing than Zellard. She is also extraverted.

Zellard shows more his affection by using words, whereas Gaïana is the type to show her affection with multiple actions.

Gaïana doesn’t really like bugs (apart from ladybugs and butterflies), Zellard doesn’t mind at all and even helps her appreciate them more since she moved to Rutoh with him.

Zellard definitely has knowledge about Monsties and riding ; Gaïana doesn’t know that much, though Zellard will be happy to teach her more about that, maybe even finding a Monster egg for her if she ever wants a Monstie...

Zellard isn’t the type to like PDA (Public Display of Affection). Gaïana doesn’t mind showing some.

Gaïana can be a bit jealous when she sees her man with someone else, especially if that someone else keeps looking at him with some interest.

Zellard has way more “heat periods” than Gaïana, and they are more virulent than hers.
