The Lemon Legacy: Generation 1, Chapter 11 - When Travis Met Becca

Summer: Oooh, she's cute!

Ophelia: What do you think? Want us to hype you up?

Travis: Screw it. I survived a werewolf rampage. I can flirt with a cute girl. I'm going to talk to her.

Summer: ...Should one of us make sure he doesn't completely embarrass himself?

Ophelia: I'm on it

Travis: Libby, Ophelia, hey! This is Becca. She was just telling me she's finishing up her last semester at UBrite.

Libby: Hi, Becca! We're Travis' very platonic friends.

Ophelia: Smooth.

Travis: What's your major?

Becca: Literature and Language. I'm taking a class right now on Charles Dickens.

Travis: I love Dickens!

Becca: I'm such a nerd for the classics

Travis: Well, he might have given you Great Expectations, but I can meet them

Becca: Ooh

Ophelia: Is he... actually pulling this off?

These nerds are nerding all over the place! It's Oscar Wilde this and Jane Austen that! The girls can barely get a word in between all the googly eyes.

Ophelia: I think we're 3rd and 4th wheels, Lib. And who's ever heard of a vehicle with 4 wheels? I think our boy's got this.

Ophelia: Listen to them over there. Too bad they're too into each other to focus on anyone else. You probably could have contributed quite a bit to that conversation, Miss Bookworm.

Liberty: Eh, I'm more into sapphic historical fiction vampire smut than George Orwell.

Ophelia: Well, we took the long route, but it happened. Travis is finally doing flirt interactions. This totally gave him the boost he needed. Plus, it's always nice to hang out with you, Libby.

Libby: O-Oh! Yeah, you too!

Summer: I'm literally right here but okay.

Great, now Summer is the third wheel. What has gotten into Ophelia? Is the juice making her more flirty?

Ophelia: Come on, admit you're cute!

Libby: AH! Feefs, stop!

Ophelia: Admit it!

Libby: Ahahaha!

Travis looked at his phone for just a second to pull up his contacts to ask Becca for her number and she disappeared! Just when he thought she left for good, he notices an odd bookcase... that's actually a secret door with a ladder! Where could it lead?

Well, Travis found the bartender. And Becca. And a hidden underground dancefloor. It's not the weirdest thing that's happened tonight.

Travis: Hey, why'd you run off?

Becca: I wanted to see if you'd come find me. Wanna dance?

Well, Summer was right about Travis meeting the girl of his dreams on the dance floor. She just wasn't right about which one.

Travis: Listen, I've been known to rush into things, so would it be too soon if I-

Becca: Shut up and kiss me.

Travis has always been a very good listener. He's also apparently a good kisser!

Summer: It's almost sunrise, and I haven't seen Travis in hours. Maybe he went back to that college girl's dorm.

Ophelia: Travis doesn't seem like the kind of guy to woohoo after knowing someone for a couple hours.

No, but he's not above a cheeky closet makeout sesh!

Ophelia goes to bed at 6:40 AM. Ah, the life of a young adult.

She's starting to feel different about Libby. In a good way. Now that her career is taking off, is she finally ready to start dating? Does she want to jeopardize her relationship with her best friend?

WOOHOO WEIGH DAY!!

I got super sick the other day and threw up twice and also didnt eat the entire time i was sick 💪💪

Honestly not much happened

Previous weight:

Ill weigh myself again in 5 days (the 24th) and if its still pretty similar ill stretch it to 10 days and weigh on the 4th of february instead of the 29th of january although im pretty sure its just because i was SO SICK that i cpuldnt move or eat at all and stayed in bed the entire time apart from the 2 times i got up to go to the bathroom.

We'll see how i do now that im able to move better now, im still kinda sick but im able to sit up and eat what i used to be eating so i should be doing a bit better now. Ive found that my body doesnt gain or loose any weight when im not eating and all of those pictures of me loosing weight is from when ive eaten and this current one is from me not eating so i guess ill just have to see

a lil photo summary of my year (2023)

started my year at Harrah's Atlantic City. this was the second year i went to AC for my birthday! won some and lost some and won some back, net gain $300 ish? since i always go during new year's nothing's ever open... not a ton of food options and no strip clubs :(

in feb i went to seattle for the 4th time LMAO. this was the first time i flew since covid. it was raining every day but the clam chowder slapped

march i watched The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart at the McKittrick Hotel. during the last song everyone was having a great time and i was TEARING UP lol it was so beautiful.

went home and immediately wrote a letter to alan brown to watch it (since it was only showing for 8 weeks), not sure if he went tho

april went hiking at Catskill Giant Ledge. there were very few signs so we ended up walking at least 3 miles extra. it was so snowy and icy and i did not have hiking boots. not too bad going up but basically came down the whole way by sliding slowly on my butt

may i went to an airbnb in Long Island that i really liked. this time we got to go boating.

last time i went was when the pandemic first started calming down, and i felt a sudden urge to escape the city. i booked the train ticket and airbnb and left after work that night. after staying there for a day and a half, a group of girls also came to the house (owner rented out multiple homes) and i heard one of them talk abt my restaurant.... needless to say i bolted out of there even tho my stay wasn't finished

funny detail from this trip was i mentioned the sunrise is really beautiful here and we must see it. however for days in a row neither of us could get up, and finally on the last day i was like "i have to wake up" and i did at like 5:30. but i was soooooo tired so i took a picture of the sunrise and went back to sleep. we both woke up around noon and i was like "hah i knew you wouldn't be able to wake up so i took this picture for you" and HE HAD DONE EXACTLY THE SAME THING LMAOOO

parents took me to Seven Lake Drive, it was really pretty and full of mosquitos

one day in july i randomly wanted to walk to brooklyn bridge from my apt in queens. when i have nothing to do i just wanna walk for really long distances

got covid for the first time and during my sick day i saw this girl on the rooftop of the building across. lowkey kinda worried abt her so i kept watching her and then she took a selfie LOL. stopped watching after that

august went to Mt. Taurus to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower. it was really clear during the day and started pouring as soon as it turned dark.

at like 2am me and my bf were just in the middle of nowhere (to avoid light pollution) in the car frantically searching up the satellite map to see when the clouds would pass and also the weather forecast for any rural areas within 100 miles. unfortunately it was raining EVERYWHERE for multiple days. better luck in 2024

then we went peach picking in NJ, not a ton of hard peaches left by this time

october we went to vermont for anniversary trip and he picked an "easy hike" to "see the foliage"

mountaintop view was like:

it was steep and cold and started raining on the way down. by the time we got back to the parking lot it was completely fucking dark. the entire way down i was looking for spots to camp in case we were stuck on the mountain...

high school classmate organized a Survivor themed camping trip. the bathrooms at this campsite were NASTY and i was on my period too 0/10. but it was a fun time and i got eliminated fifth

november in las vegas. loved it, lost 1.7k

came back to nyc and watched Un Ballo in Maschera. honestly kind of depressing cuz i couldn't just clap and cheer every 10 seconds like in the circus TT

Lupin III Chapter 43 Review

GRAAAAHHHHHH ITS CHAPTER 43 TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

goemon is in the cover again this means its big deal boys

in this chapter im assuming goemon is out to get revenge for all the scrolls lupin stole he gets hired by his superiors to kill him but he constant gets outsmarted by lupin

the first time is goemon trying to kill lupin while he is trying to have sex with a random woman

he gets smacked by a wooden plank while lupin complains about him, saying how hes taking a day off and he doesnt need goemon in his way ok but what lupin be doing having sex outside though lupin and the woman leaves and afterward goemon meets with his superiors

theyre very disappointed with him! saying how he needs to focus more and be more cold blooded they show an example in fact one of them picks up a bird from a cage and rips off one of its wings, showing how goemon needs to become heartless and a true killer…

im not gonna show the panels in particular because it makes me whince everytime i look at it goemon is also shocked to see him do such a thing, but he listens believing that he can kill lupin by training to be cold blooded feels bad

it's the second trial boys, maybe this time goemon can do it this time he enters DIRECTLY INTO LUPIN'S MANSION HOW DID HE FIND IT of course this time lupin is still having sex with the woman i would commend him for being courteous and doing it indoors but goemon is right in front him... poor guy.

L: Goemon! I told you! I'm taking the day off! L: If you absolutely insist, I'll kill you tomorrow! G: Now, damn it! Kill me now! Or return the Jitoryu scrolls!

lupin ignores him and continues with his business and goemon slices through the couch that they were on

im assuming from the sequences of events that he took the girl and leads both of them to fight outside of some random wilderness again

something funny that i wanted to mention is how lupin called goemon a teenanger because he comes at the worst times in the manga i guess you can hc goemon as a teenager or probably the youngest out of the cast, hes usually the less cruel one and he's typically the most 'innocent' one if i'm putting that right

anyways, lupin unarmed, pretends to be trapped and cornered by goemon and calls for help, but in fact...

L: Somebody please shoot this man! Why don't I have a gun? W: Because you gave it to me, silly!

...and Goemon's attempt fails i like how each attempt is slowly getting sillier everytime you'll get why it gets like that later goemon, once again, returns back to his superiors.

them, even more disappointed now, starts to ridicule the man for being too nice and warm blooded my boy does NOT deserve this hes too sweet for his own good leave him alone…

ok THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM, RIGHT!? this time goemon and lupin meet up on a cliff of some random coast with a boat goemon demands lupin to fight him and he sounds super super angry..

i think this is an attempt to sound threatening lupin pulls out the scrolls and he decides to put it in the deck of the boat to convince goemon to not fight him goemon opens the deck of the boat and he sinks as it was just a silly little trick, and lupin and the woman run off with the scroll still in their hands

...Goemon's third attempt fails. how long is this going to go.

S: You are not a talker… a thinker… you are a KILLER! S: The secret iron-cutting technique… use it! Destroy Lupin! and so he does!

goemon approaches lupin this time on a highway while lupin is driving his car, and SLICES IT IN HALF lupin is so fucking done with goemon's shit this time good lordy

ok but how is the car still running but anyways lupin runs over goemon, and he fails for the 4th time...

as he returns to his surperiors he announces that he's now sick and tired of listening to his superiors and he's going to leave!! what is he gonna do next though??

surprisingly hes taken quite a liking to lupin through the time, and decides this time to follow him instead!!!!!!

woohoo!! goemon joins the gang finally!!! AND IT ONLY TOOK 43 CHAPTERS

This fanfic is a response for three(!) challenges, woohoo!! @fictober-event, @flufftober, and another of my 3...ish planned entries for @launchtheship (my 4th for that already exists bc of me, oopsie~).

New ship + time limit = plotless, no context fluff. YuNaFa is definitely one of my more kick-and-giggles polyships than anything, NanoFei is OTP... but these 3 are cute don't come at me!! :{

"Do you remember?"

Nanoha hadn't meant to speak at all; Yuuno, glasses askew, was dozing against Fate's shoulder while she watched the sky, and Nanoha didn't want to wake him. But the sight of the two of them curled together under the blanket filled her with such tenderness the words just came out, however softly.

Fate looked a bit sleepy too, blinking cutely at Nanoha wedging herself into the corner of the window seat, next to them. "Remember what? Thank you," she added, shifting carefully to accept the mug of hot chocolate from the tray Nanoha had brought back.

"How this started. You know, us." It seemed silly now that she had said it, so Nanoha sipped from her own mug to hide any embarrassment.

She remembered. How Yuuno was her first friend, her first crush, and how Fate was her first... everything. Yuuno drifting away more and more but always in her mind, Fate always pulling her back to their families, her fondness for Yuuno ever present.

She remembered inner turmoil somewhere along that timeline, but not what came of it. Yuuno and Fate seemed to dissolve that turmoil over and over so she never had to voice it, each in their own way, until seemingly all of a sudden, her duet with Fate became a trio with Yuuno.

She had just swallowed a drink of cocoa when Fate said, "We asked you out."

Heart jolting, Nanoha inhaled carefully, managing not to cough. "You what? No, I-I don't think that's..."

Fate's ruby eyes glimmered. "It is, really. We'd long since forged a friendship and a sort of truce, and obviously you loved me, so we took a gamble." She smiled, and then drank from her mug.

"Why don't I remember that...?" Mildly distressed, she sipped more and more cocoa until her mug was empty.

"Because you live in the present? Maybe." Yuuno stirred, stretching his arms out of the blanket with a gentle yawn.

"Clever," Fate murmured. "Have you been eavesdropping the whole time?"

"I heard something about our friendship," he said, slinging an arm around Fate and smiling disarmingly. "And then I smelled cocoa."

Nanoha handed the third mug to Yuuno, then squiggled over to lean on Fate.

"Wait, wait," Yuuno said, setting his mug down. "This won't do at all!"

Much laughter, rearranging and untangling later, Yuuno retrieved his mug and placed his chin on Nanoha's shoulder where she sat in Fate's lap, the blanket enveloping her once more. "Better," he announced. Then he slurped from his mug right next to her ear.

"Yuuno-kun!" she squawked (along with Fate), giggling.

"Pardon me," he said in a very unapologetic tone, sitting up properly.

"It's a good thing you're so cute." This from Fate, giving Yuuno a hair-ruffle just shy of a noogie.

"Which reminds me..." Nanoha tucked her legs underneath her. "Was there ever a moment when you two realized you felt more than friendship?" With Fate, it had been classic: that mental lightning bolt throwing their relationship into a new light, something Nanoha truly had to confess because no other way seemed equal in magnitude to the realization. With Yuuno-and-Fate, just like Yuuno-and-Fate with her, she couldn't pinpoint a singular moment.

Her pulse skittered as Fate leaned to kiss the edge of Yuuno's mouth and he snuggled into her. "Well, we both loved you... "

"Even though it took me a little longer to realize it," said Yuuno, blushing.

"Right," Fate said, laughing warmly. "I had to help out with that." Then she looked back at Nanoha, still smiling. "I guess we love you so much that it led to us falling in love too."

"Oh, gosh..." Her bashful laugh that the other two called cute, the one that she was still sometimes self-conscious of, slipped out. Fate's answer felt so true, so tender, that she didn't at all know how to handle it.

"Nanoha..."

She leaned into Yuuno's lips on her cheek, sighing as Fate's hand slid through her hair.

"You don't have to worry,” he said. “What does it matter if you don't remember every moment with perfect clarity? We all love each other, and that's enough."

"I was curious," she whispered, voice made soft by Yuuno's in her ear.

"But not just curious," Fate said.

Of course they were right. "Thank you…” Her heart felt lighter, though she hadn’t realized it had been heavy. “You always know just what to say.”

“I try my best,” they both said.

She smiled.

They were a few minutes into the group hug that Yuuno started when a bright light formed in the sky.

"Shooting star," Nanoha exclaimed, getting an arm out from the blanket to point a bit too late.

"Shh, I'm wishing," said Yuuno.

Nanoha shut her eyes and wished too.

"There's another one...!" Fate's voice was awestruck.

"My wish was so small, I don't think I have another one."

Yuuno laughed softly. "Me neither."

"Oh? And why is that?" Fate asked in her "I know but I want to hear you say it" tone.

Nanoha giggles at Yuuno, who hugs Fate so fiercely he almost knocks both of them over. " Because, Fate-chan! Because I have everything I could ever want right here. Right, Yuuno-kun?"

"Precisely," he said, ruffling her hair the way Fate had done to him. "Although," he added over her squeaks, "I could use some more hot chocolate..."

Nanoha agreed, and she heard Fate agree too. But she stayed in Fate's lap, and Fate's arms stayed around her, and Yuuno didn't move an inch.

In the end, they made more hot chocolate in the morning.

my best friend is offline and i need to rant about him so new boy tag! everyone meet musical boy!

so musical boy and i met 10 years ago when we started going to school together, i was in 3rd grade and he was in 4th. i think i always found him cute but i didn’t start liking him until 6th grade. our school was putting on aladdin jr the musical, and i really wanted to be part of it but didn’t have the guts to audition. all my friends auditioned and became part of it, and guess who got the lead? obviously musical boy. well now i had to be part of the musical, and just my luck, the new girl who just moved here ended up moving again, so i asked if i could take her place in the musical. i got the part no audition needed, and woohoo i was in the musical with my crush!

so what happens with us during the musical? absolutely nothing. oh except i punched him in the face during rehearsals. yeahhh, so choreography wasn’t set yet and the directors were trying different things. this time they decided that they would have aladdin and jasmine run across the stage through the dancers during one jump ahead. well during the line “one swing ahead of the sword” our choreography was to act like we were swinging a sword with our hands held together in a fist. so who runs in front of me when i’m swinging? …musical boy. i punched my crush in the nose. in front of like 20 other people. i really don’t remember what happened after that other than the director being like “okay let’s take five” and me never apologizing to him other than right after i punched him saying “oh my god i’m so sorry are you okay?” we DID however interact again, on the opening night of the musical. the whole cast was chilling in the library before our call time and we decided to play a very big game of stella ella ola. and for anyone that doesn’t know stella ella ola, it’s a circle sitting hand holding slapping game. (that’s a terrible description go look it up.) anyway, who would sit beside me asking people to move over, but musical boy. his hand was very warm and he hit my hand too hard every time on purpose. and did i ever talk to him after that? uh no. i would however make my friends sit with me by the basketball courts every recess so i could watch him play though. our classes also took a trip to washington when i was in 7th grade but i had a different crush as that time, so that was the extent of our elementary to middle school relationship.

now onto high school! absolutely nothing juicy here to be honest. we went to different high schools so the only updates about him i got were from one of my besties who also happens to be his neighbour. i had added him on snap sometime in may but we didn’t really talk, just a few snaps back and forth, and i accidentally ghosted him cause snapchat glitched and opened all my snaps without me noticing. basically nothing interesting happened. untillllll….. my first day of 12th grade. interestingly enough, i had just gotten out of a situationship with a guy that we had gone to school with, he was two years above me. i was over at the aforementioned friend’s house, and knowing that his house was just right across the street and thinking about how i had just ended things with a guy from our old school i decided, hey why not, let me hit up musical boy. and honestly it went pretty well. we chatted a lot, nothing too in depth. to be quite honest, i do not know if he knows that we went to school together and that’s why i added him or if he was just like “oh cute girl let’s chat” and that’s a big fear of mine is if he doesn’t know… but anyway. we hit it off pretty well, talked a lot, however he goes to university in nova scotia so… not ideal for like going out and doing stuff. but a few months later… he ghosted me like i ghosted him. irony or smth! tbf he left me on delivered but it was for 42 weeks so…

and that brings us to now! i had a dream with him in it recently, quite honestly for no reason i hadn’t talked to or thought about him in months but there he was. and in the dream, i was going to snap him. well i told my friends about the dream and again the aforementioned friend said “well it’s a good thing you didn’t snap him” and when you say something like that to me, well now i can’t just not snap him. so i replied back saying “okay but… what if i did snap him?”. i was expecting a huge resounding no from my friends as that’s what they usually say when i want to talk to guys, however that’s usually about shitty guys and to my surprise, my most responsible friend replied back with “yeah you should go for it. i mean what’s the worst that could happen?” and that’s exactly what i was thinking! i never see him on social media, odds are, i’m gonna stay on delivered and then i know and it’s fine. it’s better to know even if it sucks than to wonder forever.

so i snap him. just a cute pic with a “heyy :)”. and i expect three outcomes. 1. he doesn’t reply. 2. he replies but he has a girlfriend. 3. he replies and says “hey wsp”. well i get a snap from him, and i prepare myself to answer his “wsp” with “just bored, we haven’t talked in a while”. but what do i see when i open his snap? “heyy leea, long time no talk, kinda missed it” with a pic of him getting ready for bed, shirtless, with a smirk on his face. HELLO???? THIS WAS NOT ONE OF MY THREE OUTCOMES???? i never ever expected this, i screamed for a minute, quickly grabbed my brothers phone to take a picture of the snap, and then screamed for another minute. i did reply with a “heyy i kinda missed it too lol, how are u?” currently i’m on delivered which i expected, it took him 4 days to even send me the first snap lol. but HOLY SHIT. like…. i genuinely did not expect this. for some reason him saying my name added to it all, like he remembers me? idk i honestly expected him to not really remember me. and he says “kinda missed it” HELLO???? HE MISSED TALKING TO ME???? i am interpreting it as “i missed it” because that sounds too forward to say so you say “i kinda missed it” to not sound too into the other person (at least that’s why i said i kinda missed it instead of i missed it when i replied to him). LIKE. OH MY GOD. HE DID NOT HAVE TO RESPOND LIKE THAT?? he could’ve literally said “wsp” and that’s entirely what i was expecting but NO!! HE HITS ME WITH MY NAME. AND SAYING HE MISSED TALKING TO ME. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!

anyway there’s my entire relationship with that guy, i pray there will be more updates.

Oh shit here we go again..?

what, did you think I forgot about this lol bet you did. it's ok, I did fail a bit! Which is why I only put 3 goals for Q1. Buuuut! I didn't fail fully so I still consider this a mostly win lol Here's what I learned!

Q1 supposed to be goals (a refresher lol)

1. Learn and understand all 2000 jouyou kanji.

Doing just kanji is hella boring so I get distracted. I need something to keep my interest. I, like a smart bean, tried just using "The guide to remembering kanji" book, and was like lol nope.

2. Work out at least 2x a week

I actually accomplished this near the end! WOOHOO GO ME \o/ However, the last week I had to take a break because my feet were killing me. So I didn't work out but I was still doing really well with it so yaaay.

3. Floss, brush, and mouthwash everyday

This is kinda a half accomplishment, I think. I did manage to brush most days, but there were some days where flossing and mouthwash wasn't done because lazy/tired or I didn't have time.

SO! 3 goals, 2 done 1 partial; I'd say that's a great win! The best part, ofc, is when I was being consistent, I started doing other things. I was meditating for at least 3 minutes, doing my morning and night face routine, and keeping my room cleaner (no, not completely clean. I have cats and those furry gremlins like to cause chaos ok) IDK if adding those things unintentionally was what caused me to slip or if it was the taking a break, but either way I would say I'm doing pretty well. What is next with Q2? Let's talk about it!

Q2:

Continue to work out, but go to at least 3x a week

Since I did kiiiinda do the workout thing, I'm going to keep this in the list of goals. I got to a good area with running but the problem came when my feet started dying. I had to stop and recover, plus get some actual running shoes. Right now, I'm doing the zombies, run! 5k to increase my running speed, then I plan to work through the zombies, run! seasons. I did pretty good with working out everyday, so I will try to keep that in my goals.

Ofc, I can't just run so I plan to add some exercise routines from Darebee. I was doing the yoga one, but I might switch that to an anaerobic type. Ah wait.... ok! I will keep the yoga one, since it's only 30 days and once that's finished, move on toooooo

Ringfit! I have a few other games I could use, but ringfit has a lot of different types of exercise that seems like it could help. Plus, that "guy who did ringfit for 300 days became super fit!" news article is stuck in my head. I was debating on adding more in the gym, but tbh I don't like staying there too long since I always get a bit creeped out. I'm paranoid ok don't judge me.

2. Brush and mouthwash everyday

since this one was a half, I'm going to pull it from 3 things to just brush and mouthwash. I would prefer to keep floss, but I think keeping a bit of the stress away might help. We'll see.

3. Japanese, everyday

ok, I won't lie- not reaching the Japanese goal hurt a bit. It was kinda upsetting considering I broke it down but! hope springs eternal! New goal is Japanese at least 5 minutes a day. I'm sure I'll want to do more but if I put a low bar I should be able to jump over it not dig under it lol I do have some plans on how to tackle it and test myself but I'm going to just put on this master list that I'll give myself a sticker everytime I reach this goal. I like stickers, sue me.

4. Meditate 1 minute everday

I wasn't going to add a 4th, but since I reached the gym goal (even though I'm adding to it) I figured I needed to add something new. Meditation is good for attention spans, anxiety, etc, etc, so this is a nice little goal to facilitate the others, I think.

And that's it! I might add my mini Japanese plan, but tbh it's kinda more a fun thing at this point. I'm really excited about this next quarter! If I was able to make it this time, I know I'll definitely do better this next time. I also might be taking the JLPT, depending on my speed. Wish me luck in this second quarter.

Hey! How ya been?

Hi @mr---moth, it's been a while!

I haven't really been active on this blog for a long time, but I've been meaning to come back, so I'm going to use your ask to like, rant and give some news! Good, bad, neutral, I don't really think it matters, I just miss telling everyone on here how I've been!

I genuinely have no idea of how to properly TW/CW all of this, so here are the topics that I will talk about:

Birthdays, fear of growing older (?)

Mental health issues/relapses, non-graphic mentions of suicidal thoughts, diagnosis, mention of having a shitty psychiatrist

Family, legal guardianship, court

The most recent one is: I'm sixteen now! Woohoo! It's been five days now, so I'm not exactly used to it yet, but it's been good so far. The week before my birthday was pretty stressful, notably because I wasn't really (at all) supposed to live this long.

For some reason, I always had it as my last limit. I'm pretty sure it was already set when I was maybe six, years before I had my first suicidal thoughts. I suspect it is somewhat related to how the media (and the people around me) always called sixteen the "perfect age to be" (and the fact that the term "sweet sixteen" existed too didn't help either). I mean, your high school years are the best of your life, right? /s. And sixteen is the middle. You enter at fourteen, leave at eighteen, it only makes sense.

Anyways. I was still up at midnight, on that day. Not surprising for anybody- many people stay up until then, especially on a birthday.

Funnily enough, my childhood friend Isaac (whom I've met merely a few days after I turned ten) sent me his message only a few seconds after it turned to 12! I honestly don't know how they did, because they said they didn't even notice how early he was.

It felt... I don't actually know how it felt, to be honest. It wasn't a shock, nor scary or sad, or any opposites. I don't think I even registered it. I was just mostly glad that he remembered, because we only reconnected in summer 2021 after about three years without any kind of communication.

I still don't "feel" sixteen, to tell the truth. I am aware that I am, I don't mess up on my age, I know it. It just doesn't feel real.

But, overall, it was a pretty nice day! Not the birthday in itself, but knowing that my closest friends remembered (whether they wished it to me or didn't, some avoided it because of how stressful it was to me, but I know they didn't forget about it) and getting gifts was pretty cool!

I got a total of four comics from my parents in law, including an integral. I don't think it'll surprise anybody to learn that all of them were about Nightwing! :)

And I got blankets, too! Two of them, a purple and a bright pink one. And a bathbomb.

And also something I didn't even know existed: a Bat-Signal lamp! Not only is the light bat-shaped, but the lamp in itself is designed to look like the Bat-Signal; that's so cool!!!

So, yeah, TL;DR: I turned sixteen, and it wasn't that bad. Plus, cool gifts!

Oh, and another thing! I've known I had ADHD for years now, and it's here! I'm finally officially diagnosed and medicated for it! Isn't that amazing??? (I mean, I technically got diagnosed with ADD, but that's only because my psychiatrist didn't believe me to be hyperactive because she "doesn't see it", despite my neuropsychiatrist saying that I had eight symptoms of hyperactivity out of nine. Whatever, I will keep on saying I have ADHD, I don't think anybody cares anyways.)

I will also be going to court on May 4th to be officially put under my parents in law's care. They technically won't be designed my legal guardians, but something called "trusted third party" (I don't know if that's a thing everywhere else, so I'm just translating it literally). Don't ask me what the difference is, I don't know! But yeah, that's nice. My mom's social workers will finally stop bugging her about where I am.

On a slightly more negative note, my mental health has been pretty random for the past few months. I've had mood swings for years, but it has somehow worsened. I've been lashing out about twice a day for quite a while now, and I can't control my emotions anymore now. I already didn't have a strong grasp on them (especially anger), but it's completely gone now. Yesterday, my fiancé told me he loved me, and I started crying out of sadness (despite how happy I am that he loves me!!). Everything I feel is extremely overwhelming, and my continuous relapses and recovery attempts in every single issue I've ever had are of no help.

I've also attempted to drop out of high school (I tried to go online for this school year and it didn't go well either), but due to a bunch of (mostly recent) stupid laws and issues, I can't, despite the fact that anyone in France is technically legally allowed to drop out after turning sixteen. As I mentioned, there are more things involved, so it's not a possibility for me anymore.

I honestly don't know what to do about it, considering how hard this whole situation is to me, but I'm managing. I think.

This post/answer probably doesn't make a lot of sense (especially with my tone, it took my an hour to write this so I don't think I succeeded in keeping the same tone the whole time), but I wanted to try and only include the most important events/changes/things, because so many things happened during this past year that it'd take me days to finish writing everything down!

However, do you know what hasn't changed?

I still don't know how to end a post... eh.

2021 Schedule!

Hello friends! As signups are about to open, here's our schedule for this year's bang!

July 1-9th: SIGNUPS ARE OPEN

Signups for our WRITER, ARTIST, and BETA positions are open! If you're interested in participating this year, this is the time to join up!

July 14th: SYNOPSES DUE

This is a note for WRITERS - if your synopsis is not submitted by midnight est on July 14th, you'll be dropped from the bang! Synopses will all be submitted via a form that will be available through the discord.

July 15th: BIG BANG OFFICIALLY BEGINS

ARTISTS and BETAS will have the entire day to view the synopsis document before claiming happens.

July 16-18th: CLAIMING PROCESS STARTS

At noon est on July 16th, claiming will begin. A google doc will be made available to participants so that ARTISTS and BETAS can claim the fics they want to work with. This is on a first come first serve basis. Artists and Betas will claim a fic by leaving their username in an available slot under a synopsis. Everyone will have access to the doc, so you'll know your team immediately!

July 18th: LAST DAY TO CLAIM FICS

July 23th: FIRST CHECK-IN & CONTACT GROUPS

As your teams are created, we will add you to channels within the discord for your group. You MUST talk in that channel by this date, or we will assume you have dropped.

This is also our first checkin - WRITERS, you should have 1.25k written for oneshots and 2.25k for multichaps. We will have checkin channels set up in the discord server.

July 30th: 2nd MILESTONE

WRITERS: try to reach 2.5k if you’re doing a one-shot and 4.5k if you’re doing multi-chaptered.

ARTISTS: try to show your groups some rough sketches/ideas to receive feedback on, and let your writers know if there's any information you need. If you’re having any trouble, please contact mods.

August 6th: 3rd MILESTONE

WRITERS: try to have 3.75k and 6.75k for one-shots and multi-chaptered fics respectively written so you can have room to edit.

ARTISTS: you should have an idea of what you are going to create and the information needed to create them, and should have some sketches by this point.

Let the mods know if you feel you’re really behind or are having any issues.

August 13th: 4th MILESTONE/MIDWAY CHECK IN + DEADLINE TO DROP

HALF WAY THERE, WOOHOO!

WRITERS: Try to have 5k and 9k written (one-shot and multi-chaptered respectively). Continue to communicate with your betas about what you need from them, and try to have an idea of how to end your fic.

ARTISTS: if you’re doing more than one piece try to have one completed. Continue to communicate with your writer about what information you need for your piece(s).

BETAS: if you have not received a doc by this date, let the mods know.

EVERYONE: If you are considering dropping from the bang, please let us know by this date. There will be no consequences for dropping before now, so long as you alert a mod, but dropping after this date may result in us leaving you to the harpies. There's a curfew.

August 20th: 5th MILESTONE

WRITERS: we expect one-shots to be around 6.25k and multi-chaps to have 11.25k.

August 27th: 6th MILESTONE

WRITERS: 7.5k from oneshots and 13.5k from multichaps. We're coming up on the end!

ARTISTS & BETAS: be in communication with your group.

September 3rd: 7th MILESTONE

WRITERS: Strive to reach the word count minimum by this point, which is 8k for one-shots and 15k for multi-chapter fics. It’s okay if you haven’t reached the min yet, just do your best to give yourself time to go back to any scenes you’re not to sure about or add anything you feel needs adding.

ARTISTS: Be in constant contact with your group. You should be nearly done with at least one of your pieces. If you are going to add any last minute pieces, now is the time.

September 10th: LAST MILESTONE

Both WRITERS and ARTISTS should be basically finished. Use this final week for finishing touches, final edits, and beta work. Let the mods know if you've fallen behind so that we can schedule accordingly.

September 17th: END OF BIG BANG CONTENT CREATION

September 18th: POSTING DAYS ASSIGNED

Based on what we’ve heard back from y'all, we’ll assign you a posting day (Mon-Sun the following week) and time. We’ll do our best to give the latest posting dates to those that, for whatever circumstance, fell behind. So if you feel you’re good to go, let us know you’re up for being the first to post).

September 20th: START OF POSTING WEEK

September 26th: END OF POSTING WEEK AND PJO/HOO BIG BANG 2021

I can hear the band outside of my window. I think my campuses football game is starting.

The drum line practiced outside my window all the beginning of the semester so it’s fun seeing them march to the stadium.

Jour 14: Plaque in honor of Thomas Jefferson, “Symbol of Franco-American Friendship,” on the arch at Place Darcy, Dijon.

Alright, not late today! Woohoo!

After class, Eva, Angelica, and I met up for lunch... but definitely not at the place Eva and I had tried to go to the day before. Instead, we went briefly to the supermarket, where I picked up another notebook (I was running out of room in the one I had). We also used a booth to take some ID photos that we needed for a student discount card we have been trying to get.

We went to a Thai place that Angelica visited and said she liked. I wouldn’t exactly call it authentic, but it was absolutely the spiciest food I have had since arriving in France. And that’s not saying much; my lips tingled a bit, but that was essentially the extent of it. And everything went well! I ordered with absolutely no problem and understood everything the cashier was saying. It felt great after the week I’ve been having.

Both Angelica and Eva are introverts, and with them I often forget that I have to be the one to start the conversation. Oops! But it was alright; we had a nice, relaxing lunch nonetheless.

On the way back to the tram, I noticed this plaque on the arch at Place Darcy. I pass by the arch all the time but had never spotted it. I thought it was super super cool! It’s always fun to see little hints of home here, and perhaps a history from a different perspective. I really want to share the plaque with you all, so I’m going to flex my translation muscles a bit here and do that!

I hope it wasn’t too rough of a translation. I actually really enjoy translation work; I translate song lyrics a lot in my free time. The use of “OUR values,” “OUR heritage,” for whatever reason, really touches me. I feel like in a lot of American monuments, even when talking about the U.S, they say “American values,” or “in this country.” This feels much more personal.

Anyway, I went home, did some laundry, and then just kind of hung out for the rest of the night.
