House Built on a Strong Foundation:

Spiritual Wisdom

Today we bring to you a parable that Jesus shared with his disciples—a story of profound spiritual insight that speaks to the very foundation of our faith. It is the parable of the House Built on a Strong Foundation.

Imagine a wise builder who set out to construct a house. He carefully selected a site and began laying the foundation, digging deep into the bedrock and ensuring its stability. With meticulous care, he built upon this foundation, layer by layer, crafting a sturdy and enduring structure.

Now, picture another builder who, in contrast, was hasty and careless in his construction. He chose a site without considering its stability and began building without laying a firm foundation. Instead, he built upon the shifting sands, neglecting to secure his structure against the elements.

As time passed, storms arose, lashing against both houses with fierce winds and torrents of rain. The house built on the strong foundation stood firm, its walls unshaken and its roof unyielding. But the house built on the shifting sands could not withstand the onslaught; it crumbled and fell, its ruins scattered by the tempest.

What does this parable teach us, dear friends? It is a metaphor for the life of faith. The wise builder represents those who hear the words of Jesus and put them into practice, building their lives upon the solid foundation of his teachings (Matthew 7:24-25). They anchor their faith in the unchanging truth of God's Word, rooted deeply in Christ.

On the other hand, the foolish builder symbolizes those who hear the words of Jesus but do not act upon them. They build their lives upon the shifting sands of worldly pursuits and fleeting pleasures, lacking the firm foundation of faith (Matthew 7:26-27). When trials come, their faith is tested, and they find themselves without the strength to withstand the storms of life.

Let us heed the wisdom of this parable and examine the foundation upon which we are building our lives. Are we anchored in Christ, standing firm upon the rock of salvation (Psalm 18:2)? Or are we building upon the shifting sands of worldly wisdom and human strength?

As followers of Christ, let us strive to be like the wise builder, diligently laying a strong foundation of faith and obedience to God's Word. Let us build our lives upon the firm foundation of Jesus Christ, our Rock and Redeemer (1 Corinthians 3:11). And when the storms of life rage against us, we can rest assured that our house will stand, for it is built upon the unshakable truth of God's promises (Psalm 46:1-3).

May this parable inspire us to build our lives upon the strong foundation of faith in Christ, that we may withstand the trials of this world and inherit the eternal blessings of God's kingdom. Amen.

In what areas of my life do I see evidence of a weak or unstable foundation? What steps can I take to address these areas and rebuild upon the firm foundation of God's truth and promises?

Am I actively seeking wisdom and guidance from God's Word as I navigate the decisions and challenges of life? How can I align my thoughts, actions, and priorities with the principles of God's Kingdom, ensuring that I am building a life that honors and glorifies Him?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

We come before you with hearts full of gratitude for the wisdom and guidance you offer us through your Word. Thank you for teaching us the importance of building our lives upon the strong foundation of faith in Christ.

Lord, we acknowledge that we often stray from this firm foundation, seeking security and fulfillment in the fleeting pleasures of this world. Forgive us, O God, for the times when we have neglected to anchor our lives in your truth and grace.

As we reflect on the parable of the house built on a strong foundation, we are reminded of your steadfast love and faithfulness. Help us, Lord, to continually seek your wisdom and guidance, that we may build our lives upon the unshakable rock of your salvation.

Grant us the strength and courage to withstand the storms of life, knowing that you are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). May our faith remain unwavering, our hope secure, and our love steadfast, grounded in the unchanging truth of your Word.

As we go forth from this moment, empower us to be faithful builders, constructing our lives in accordance with your will and purpose. Biblical Archaeology Lesson 02: The New Testament

In our previous study, we examined ten archaeological discoveries that demonstrated the historical accuracy of the Old Testament. Today, we will examine ten archaeological finds with relevance to the New Testament.

Let’s read together Acts 13:6-12.

Sergius Paulus inscription

A Roman proconsul was a governor or military commander of a province. Sergius was the proconsul of Cyprus under the reign of Claudius Caesar from 45 to 50 AD. A stone with a Greek inscription dating to 54 AD was found in northern Cypress. The inscription referred to an event that happened earlier than 54 AD and referenced a “proconsul Paulus.” It is very likely this inscription is speaking of the same Sergius Paulus who encountered Paul the Apostle in Paphos.

Pool of Siloam

The pool of Siloam was a freshwater reservoir in the time of Jesus. It was at this pool where Jesus miraculously cured a man of his blindness. It was accidentally discovered in 2004 by workers doing sewage pipe maintenance in the old city of Jerusalem. The discovery of the pool of Siloam shows that the book of John is not a purely theological book. Rather, it is grounded in history.

Erastus inscription

A stone with a Latin inscription dating around 50 AD was found in Corinth. The inscription translated in English reads: “Erastus in return for hisa aedileship laid (the pavement) at his own expense.” (An aedile was a Roman magistrate in charge of public works.) This discovery points to the historicity of Erastus, an evangelist and a socially elite individual mentioned by Paul the Apostle.

Caiaphas ossuary

An ossuary with the engraving “Joseph son of Caiaphas” was discovered in a burial cave in the old city of Jerusalem. The skeletal remains inside the ossuary were of a 50 year old. This ossuary is very likely the remains of the priest who presided over the trial of Jesus.

Temple warning inscription

The Jewish historian Josephus wrote of a partition in the Jewish temple with a stone inscription forbidding foreigners from entering the temple upon penalty of death. A complete stone inscription with such a warning was found in Jerusalem in 1871. Interestingly, there were traces of red paint in the stone inscription, meaning it was meant to be very visible to people.

This inscription correlates with the story in Acts 21:28-30 where the Jews accused Paul of bringing in Greeks into the temple and defiling it. Paul may have also referred to this barrier in Ephesians 2:14.

Trumpeting place inscription

A stone with the Hebrew inscription “to the place of trumpeting” was discovered in Jerusalem, dating to the first century. It is thought this stone was atop the southwest corner of the temple of Jerusalem before it was cast down. This is evidence for the existence of the second temple of Jerusalem, which was destroyed in 70 AD.

Nazareth inscription

This stone inscription contains an edict from Caesar proclaiming the death penalty for those caught stealing bodies from tombs. This is a rather unusual decree as grave robbers normally would steal items from tombs, but not the bodies.

It is quite possible this inscription was written by Claudius Caesar in response to hearing Christians sharing the story of Jesus’ resurrection. Claudius would have considered Christians a dangerous anti-Roman movement.

Gallio inscription

This is a collection of nine stone fragments of a letter written by Claudius Caesar in 52 AD. The Gallio inscription was found in Delphi, Greece, which is about 50 miles northwest of Corinth. This inscription makes mention of Junius Gallio being proconsul of Achaia. Gallio only served as proconsul from 51 to 52 AD. The Gallio inscription is a fixed marker that allows us to date Paul’s ministry.

Pilate stone

Pontius Pilate was a Roman prefect governing Judea from 26 to 34 AD. He is mentioned by the historians Josephus, Tacitus, and Philo in addition to the Gospels. The Pilate stone confirms the historicity of Pontius Pilate.

P52 fragment of John 18:31-33

This is a papyrus fragment dating to 125 to 175 AD. This is the oldest known fragment of the New Testament Gospels. The significance of this fragment is that it was written within 100 years of the events of the Gospels.

There has not been an archaeological find that contradicts the Bible. The historical events recorded in the New Testament are factual. The archaeological discoveries mentioned in this lesson should increase our trust in the Bible.

The Two Witnesses of Revelation 11

The Two Witnesses are Anointed with Power

In Rev. 11:4, the two witnesses on earth are said to be “the two olive trees” of the Lord. This verse is based on the Old Testament:

These are the two anointed ones who stand

by the Lord of the whole earth.

— Zechariah 4:14

The term “Messiah” (Gk. Christos) is derived from the Hebrew word “mashiach,” which means “anointed one.” So, Zechariah 4:14 cannot be talking about anyone else except the Messiah. As I will demonstrate, these two anointed witnesses could be none other than Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. And these two are one! The Holy Spirit is often called the “Spirit of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:19), the “Spirit of Jesus” (Acts 16:7), or “the Spirit of His Son” (Gal. 4:6). We know that the Messiah is the “anointed one” (Dan. 9:26). But the Holy Spirit is “anointed” as well (1 Jn 2:20, 27), and anoints Jesus with power (see Lk 4:18; Acts 10:38). The anointing takes place when Jesus and the Holy Spirit become one (during Jesus’ baptism)! It is Jesus’ rebirth, so to speak, when the Holy Spirit enters him and anoints him with power (Lk 3:22; cf. Acts 2:1-4)!

As for those thinkers who take issue with this view, claiming that the two witnesses are probably Enoch and Elijah who never died, there are three problems with their theory. First, regardless of whether a biblical character died or not, scripture makes it clear that you only live once (Heb. 9:27); there is no reincarnation. A reincarnation of Enoch or Elijah is therefore out of the question. Second, neither Enoch nor Elijah were the anointed Messiah. Third, both of these fictional characters are “types” who represent and foreshadow the Messiah. Notice the specific typology that is presented in Revelation 11 which typifies the two witnesses’ unique relation and connection to Jesus: the two witnesses are said to prophesy in the exact same place where Jesus supposedly lived, and they will die in the exact same city where Jesus allegedly died. I think you can guess the rest of the script: “But after … three … days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet” (Rev. 11:11). Just like Jesus, they’ll be miraculously raised from the dead after 3 days!

Moreover, Rev. 11:6 says that the two witnesses have tremendous authority (ἐξουσίαν) over heaven and earth to do as they please. However, only Jesus has that kind of authority. No one else! Jesus says: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (Mt. 28:18):

Ἐδόθη μοι πᾶσα ἐξουσία ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ἐπὶ

τῆς γῆς ·

Both Jesus and the Holy Spirit are called Witnesses

What is more, the two witnesses’ assignment is to bear witness to the truth (μαρτυρίαν; Rev. 11:7). The two persons of the Godhead who bear witness (μαρτυρήσει) to the truth on earth are Jesus and the Holy Spirit (see Jn 15:26; 18:37; Rom. 8:16; Heb. 10:15 [Μαρτυρεῖ/bears witness]). Case in point. First John 5:6 mentions the witness of the Spirit——namely, that God comes in the flesh——using the symbols of “water and blood” which represent the divinity and humanity of Jesus, thus indicating that he’s both God and man:

This man, Jesus the Messiah, is the one

who came by water and blood—not with

water only, but with water and with blood.

The Spirit is the one who verifies this,

because the Spirit is the truth.

Then, 1 John 5:7-8 goes on to explain that “these three [witnesses] are one”:

For there are three witnesses

[μαρτυροῦντες] — the Spirit, the water, and

the blood—and these three are one.

And 1 Jn 5:9 tells us that the *content* of this prophetic witness (ἡ μαρτυρία τοῦ θεοῦ) concerns the coming of the Son of God in human form at some point in human history. The Greek verb ἐλθὼν (came) is not referring to the time of action, but rather to the Christological prophecy which is supposed to take place according to the scriptures (cf. 1 Cor. 15:3-4). So the *testimony* of the two witnesses of Revelation 11 is about the parousia, or the coming of Jesus to this earth! Interestingly enough, Rev. 1:5 calls Jesus “the faithful witness” (ὁ μάρτυς, ὁ πιστός). This is reiterated in Rev. 3:14 where Jesus is “the faithful and true witness.” Both Jesus and the Holy Spirit are said to be God’s *two witnesses,* and these two are one! Since no one else except God can do these extraordinary miracles (e.g. fire-breathing, controlling the weather & the sea [cf. Mk 4:39], causing plagues; Rev. 11:5-6), and given that the language of the Greek New Testament is pointing to the authority, anointing, and witness of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, there can be little doubt as to who these two witnesses are.

First Comes Christ; Then Comes the Antichrist

The *sequence* of end-time events also reveals New Testament parallels and verbal agreements that are consistent with the notion that the Messiah will come first, followed by the antichrist. Notice the same sequence in Rev. 11:7:

And when they have finished their witness,

the beast that comes up out of the abyss

will make war with them and overcome

them and kill them.

This is essentially the same sequence that we find in 2 Thess. 2. The restrainer must first be taken out of the way before the lawless one can be revealed (2 Thess. 2:7-8). In other words, the restrainer must be removed before the antichrist can appear on the world stage. This same motif is repeated in Rev. 12:3-4 (italics mine):

a great RED dragon, with seven heads and

ten horns [representing the Antichrist and

the final world empire] … stood before the

woman who was about to give birth, so that

when she bore her child he might devour it.

The way Rev. 12:5 is described, it’s as if it gives us Jesus’ birth, resurrection, and ascension, minus his death (which is alluded to in verse 4):

She gave birth to a male child, one who is to

rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her

child was caught up to God and to his

throne.

So, in Rev. 12, the male child is born first, and then the RED dragon kills it. It’s the exact same sequence in Rev. 6. First comes the peaceful white horseman “holding a bow” (representing the covenant; see Gen. 9:13 LXX) and wearing the Stephanos crown, which is typically worn by victors in Christ (Jas. 1:12; 2 Tim. 4:8; 1 Pet. 5:4; Rev. 2:10; 4:4), and then comes the RED horse which triggers World War III (Rev. 6:3). We find the exact same sequence in Rev. 11:7. First come the two witnesses, and then comes the beast out of the abyss to kill them. This is the antichrist who must come after Christ. It’s the exact same motif in 2 Thess. 2:7-8 in which the restrainer must be killed before the antichrist can appear.

So, there’s a running theme throughout the New Testament which repeats the same end-time sequence in all these narratives, namely, the idea that Christ comes first, followed by the Antichrist! Thus, Christ’s coming is imminent (it can happen at any time)! But how is all this possible if Christ already died two thousand years ago? It’s possible because the gospels are not historical documents that correspond to real historical events. They’re theological narratives that are largely based on the Old Testament. By contrast, the epistles, which are the more explicit and didactic portions of scripture, say that Christ will die “once for all” (Gk. ἅπαξ hapax) “at the end of the age” (Heb. 9:26b), a phrase which consistently refers to the end of the world (cf. Mt. 13:39-40, 49; 24:3; 28:20). Similarly, just as Heb. 1:2 says that the physical Son speaks to humanity in the “last days,” 1 Pet. 1:20 (NJB) demonstrates the eschatological timing of Christ’s *initial* appearance by saying that he will be “revealed at the final point of time.” In other words, Revelation 6:2, 11:3, 12:5, and 19:11 all refer to the FIRST COMING of Jesus at the end of days❗️

Adam failed as a prophet by failing to tell his wife what she needed to pursue holiness (Genesis 3:17). Adam failed as a priest because he disqualified himself from tending the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:24). The word עבד used in Genesis 2:5, 15 to describe Adam tending the Garden is used through the rest of the Old Testament to describe priestly duties. Adam failed as a king because by failing to subdue the serpent, over whom he had been given dominion (Genesis 1:28). This word for dominion רדה is used of kings in 1 Kings 4:24, and of other political leaders elsewhere.

Jesus is a prophet (Acts 3:22-23, 7:51-53). He satisfied the qualifications for this office during His earthly ministry (Matthew 10:40-41, 13:57, Mark 6:4, Luke 4:24, 13:33, John 4:19). He succeeded where Adam failed by telling His wife, who is the church, all she needs to pursue holiness (Ephesians 5:23, 2 Corinthians 11:1-2, Matthew 28:19-20). Jesus is a priest (Hebrews 5:5-6, 7:11-17, 21, 24, 10:19-21, 1 Peter 2:4-5). If one understands the Epistle to the Hebrews in conjunction with Psalm 110:1-4, Acts 2:34-35, and Matthew 26:64, one necessarily comes to the conclusion that He satisfied the qualifications for this office no later than Pentecost. He succeeded where Adam failed by tending to the church, which is His temple (2 Corinthians 6:16). Jesus is a king (Acts 5:31, 17:6-7, 1 Corinthians 15:25, Colossians 1:9-17, Titus 6:13-16, 2 Peter 1:11, Revelation 1:5, 2:10, 11:15, 19:15). He satisfied the qualifications for this office at His birth (Matthew 2:2, Luke 1:32-33), and He is stated to be a king elsewhere during His earthly ministry (Matthew 21:5, 28:18, Luke 1:33, John 1:49, 12:14-15, 18:33-37). He succeeded where Adam failed because the serpent is now powerless, weak, and left plotting in vain (Hebrews 2:14-15, Revelation 12:9, 17-16).

This is why Paul calls Jesus the "last Adam" (1 Corinthians 15:45-47).

Futurism detracts from the prophethood of Jesus. By denying the Olivet Discourse has been fulfilled, opponents of Christ can point to the His most important prophecy unrelated to His resurrection as false. Bertrand Russel did exactly that, focusing on Matthew 24:34. He was not mistaken. The use of "this generation" here doubtless corresponds with the same phrase used in Matthew 11:16, 23:13-39, Mark 8:12, Luke 7:31-32, 11:29, 50-51, 17:25. Premillennialism detracts from the priesthood of Jesus. He, being permanently in the Melchizedek priesthood, will be enthroned at the right hand of the Father until his enemies are vanquished (Psalm 110:1-4). His last enemy is death (1 Corinthians 5:25-26). If one insists that death will continue for 1000 years or more after Second Coming, one necessarily insists that Jesus' priesthood will be suspended without Biblical precedent. Premillennialism detracts from the kingship of Jesus. He is the subject of Psalm 2, according to Acts 4:25-28 and Revelation 19:15. Jesus as king has been given the nations, in accordance with Psalm 2:8 and Matthew 28:18, so Satan cannot rule while Jesus rules with a rod of iron in Psalm 2:9. The kingship of Christ is the prerequisite for the Great Commission. "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit," so anyone who believes Satan rules this world and still evangelizes is disobeying the Great Commission.

To believe that Christ is the last Adam, to believe that He has succeeded in every office where Adam failed, to believe an inextricable link between the offices, and to tell others about Him requires that He made accurate predictions of the future which have come to past, that He will serve as priest until death is no more, and that He rules this world we live in right now. I affirm this with every fiber of my being. Do you?

IMAGINE

1 Corinthians 8:2

There is power in our imagination! Imagination is something everyone has but doesn't use, either because they don't know how, or they use it wrongly. Imagination is the first step to becoming whatever! Our mind sees, hears, feels and achieves before we ever do physically or naturally.

Imagination is the formation of ideas or pictures in the mind of a vision, it is to form a mental image of someone or thing or to conceive it in the mind.

Imagination is also to scheme or to devise plans and purposes says Psalm 62:3.

Imagination is a powerful tool that can create what we wish to see. The Bible is literal writing, but the power of our imagination mixed with faith brings it alive through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Word Himself is alive and made flesh to dwell in us but He must become flesh in both our hearts and minds to give expression to our imagination declares John 1:14. We can imagine good or bad things and whatever image we draw in our imagination is what is manifested in the natural.

Holy imagination helps us grow spiritually stronger in faith, God reminded us in Isahai 51:1-3 that Abraham and Sarah were infertile, but He gave them a child from whom came the great nation God promised. Cultivating a “holy imagination” means letting God’s promised hope of new and eternal life come alive in our minds.

Imagine!

If Noah had refused to build the Ark Genesis 6:14-17.

If God had left the tower of Babel to be finished. Genesis 11.

If Abram had not migrated as God instructed. Genesis 12:1-4.

Instead of selling Joseph, his brothers killed him in Genesis 37:12-31.

If Jacob didn’t believe that Joseph was alive and went to join him in Egypt in Genesis 46.

If Moses had the ceremony to dedicate him as pharaoh- the most powerful man in his world in Hebrews 11:24.

If Saul had carried on being king of Israel instead of David in 1 Samuel 16.

If Ruth had gone back to Moab as Orpah did in Ruth 1:14.

If Jonah was left to reach Tarshish and not turned to warn the Nineveh people in Jonah 1.

Imagine!

If Mary thought Angel Gabriel’s visit was a hoax and had ignored him or chose not to be chosen in Luke 1:26-38.

If Joseph had jilted Mary in Matthew 1:18-24.

If Jesus had fallen into temptation at the hands of Satan in Matthew 4:1-11.

If John the Baptist’s birth foretold in Isaiah 40:3 didn’t happen.

Zechariah was allowed to speak after the Angel’s visit in Luke 1:5-24.

The disciples refused the call to follow Jesus in Matthew 10:1-4.

If Judas Iscariot had been a good friend and not betrayed his “friend” in Luke 22:47-48.

If Jesus was not betrayed, tried, beaten, denied and finally crucified and buried in Matthew 27.

If Jesus did not resurrect in Matthew 28:1-8.

If Jesus had not ascended to heaven in Luke 24:50-52.

If we didn’t need to be born again to go to heaven in John 3:4-5.

If we didn’t have the power and the name of Jesus for our use. John 14:13-15.

If the Holy Spirit hadn’t come as promised. Acts 2:1-13.

If Paul had not encountered the Lord and been converted in Acts 19:5-6.

If there was no need for salvation in Romans 10:5-21.

If we didn’t have the word of God in 2 Timothy 3:16.

If faith was irrelevant see Hebrew 11:6.

If there wasn’t death and judgment in Hebrews 9:11.

Imagine that Hell is real and that even fallen angels cannot escape it says 2 Peter 2:4.

Imagine that heaven is real as described in the scriptures and only for believers. Can you afford to miss it? Imagine that all you think you know is not the truth there is, that even if you choose not to believe, accept and follow Jesus, can you imagine eternity without Him?

Imagine!

PRAYER: Help me Lord to have clear-cut vision and imagination, so that I don’t wander without direction and purpose in Jesus’s name. Amen.

Lessons from Cain Lesson 03: The Legacies of Cain and Abel

In our previous Bible study we learned about Cain’s punishment for murdering Abel. Surprisingly, God spared Cain’s life even though he deserved to die. What happened to Cain afterwards?

Let’s read together Genesis 4:16-18.

Cain left the presence of God and founded a city. He lived on to have sons and daughters.

Did Cain ever feel any remorse for killing Abel? Did he ever repent of his sins?

Let’s read together Genesis 4:19-24; 1 John 3:11-12; and Jude 1:11.

Sadly, Cain remained an unrepentant sinner. There is no record in the Bible of Cain returning to God. Looking at his family history, his son Lamech twisted God’s act of mercy towards Cain into a defiant boast. Like his father, Lamech showed no remorse for killing another man.

Let’s read together Genesis 4:25-26; 5:1-32; and 6:1-8.

Adam and Eve had another son named Seth, who had sons and daughters of his own. The Bible implies that for a time Cain’s lineage and Seth’s lineage remained separate. In a spiritual sense, there were two races of man on the earth - one loyal to God and one disloyal to God.

However, eventually Seth’s descendants (the sons of God) intermarried with Cain’s descendants. As a result, mankind became corrupt and mostly turned away from God.

It got so bad God ultimately destroyed the world with a flood. (Even then, God gave mankind one hundred twenty years to repent and one last chance to escape destruction if they entered Noah’s ark in faith.)

Let’s read together 1 John 3:11-12 and Jude 1:11.

The New Testament confirms Cain’s legacy as one of evil. Cain killed out of jealousy. His actions revealed a selfish and evil heart.

Let’s read together Matthew 25:35; Luke 11:51; and Hebrews 11:4.

While we have spent much of our time discussing Cain, let us not forget the victim in the story. Abel was the first martyr in history. He was killed because he faithfully followed God’s commands.

Let’s read together John 16:2-3; 2 Timothy 3:1-5; Hebrews 12:24; and Revelation 12:17.

The story of Cain and Abel will be repeated in the end times on a much grander scale. In the end times, there will be two groups of people who claim to worship God. One group will engage in true worship of God, while the other other group will engage in false worship. The true worshipers of God will be persecuted even to the point of death.

However, do not fear! Jesus is coming soon for His people. He promises to be with us always, even in the midst of persecution.

Let’s read together 1 Samuel 15:22-23; Matthew 12:17; and Revelation 22:12-15

Cain’s life and legacy is an object lesson of what happens when sin is allowed to continue to exist. Abel’s legacy reminds us God’s people will continue to face trials, persecution, and even death for their faith. Nevertheless, Jesus will redeem his faithful people in the end times.

Friend, will you learn from the legacies of Cain and Abel?

TEXT: I JOHN 3:1-10

The greatest thing that could happen to anyone in life is to have the power of sin broken.

Sin enslaves, subjugates, and ultimately sends the sinner to a Christless eternity in hell fire. He

But when a person becomes a new creature through repentance from sin and faith in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away and behold, all things are become new. (II Corinthians 5:17).

SONSHIP OF THE CHRISTIANS

Apostle John found the experience of salvation as extraordinary privilege. He says, “ Behold, what manner of love the Father had bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…” ( I John 3:1).

For a sinner to answer to be a son or daughter of God, or a saint, or child of God, shows His special love.

The experience of sonship brings the following special privileges:

• Power Over Sin.

A distinguishing mark of a child of God is the grace to overcome sin by all it’s visible and deceptive appearances. “ Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him” (I John 3:6)

• Another mark of the new life is love.

God’s love is shed abroad in the believer’s heart by the Holy Ghost at the point of salvation. There is a thirst and hunger for fellowship with God because of this love.

• There is a commitment to a life of righteousness (I John 3:7,9,10).

Moreover, those truly born of God seek the things of the Spirit. Their affection is “centred “ on things above not on things on the earth”. (Colossians 3:2), Galatians 5:22-23, Ephesians 2:8-10

They do not neglect prayer and daily reading of the Bible or allow anything to hinder them from regular fellowship with the people of God.

SINFULNESS OF THE SINNER

Unlike saints of God, an unconverted person commits to a life devoted to sinful acts of lying, cheating, fraud, deception, immorality, fornication, adultery, sexual perversion, and the like.

By nature, they are servants of the devil. “ He that committeth sin is of the devil...”

Unless there is a miracle of conversion and salvation through Christ, such a person continues to be a servant of sin and of the devil.

SALVATION THROUGH THE SAVIOUR

Christ makes the difference between a sinner and a saint. He saves and transforms repentant sinners, sanctify thirsty believers and fills them with His Spirit.

You too can experience Christ’s transforming touch today.

Bible Verses On Compromise

1. 1 Chronicles 10:13- Saul died for his unfaithfulness to the Lord because he did not keep the Lord’s word. He even consulted a medium for guidance.

2. 1 Corinthians 1:17- For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with eloquent wisdom, so that the cross of Christ will be emptied of its effect.

3. 1 John 3:4- Everyone who commits sin practices lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

4. 1 Kings 18:21- Then Elijah approached all the people and said “How long will you waver between two opinions?” If the Lord is God, follow him. But if Baal, follow him. But the people didn’t answer him a word.

22. Matthew 6:33- But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.

24. Proverbs 16:7- When a person’s ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

25. Proverbs 25:28- A person who does not control his temper is like a city whose wall is broken down.

26. Revelation 14:12- This calls for endurance from the saints, who keep God’s commands and their faith in Jesus.

27. Romans 1:25- They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served what has been created instead of the Creator who is praised forever. Amen.

28. Romans 6:1- What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may multiply.

29. Titus 3:5- He saved us not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

30. Zechariah 11:17- Woe to the worthless shepherded who deserts the flock! May a sword strike his arm and his right eye! May his arm wither away and his right eye go completely blind.
