Luffy is like staring into the sun.
At least, that is what Zoro thinks the first time he sees him. But then, his first coherent thought had been it’s too bright upon their initial meeting, looking up from glowering down at the ground to raising his head and squinting at a too big, self-congratulatory smile and do you want to join my crew?
Then it had been simple enough to blame the harsh sunlight blinding him, framing Luffy’s profile and that bright grin, and he’d bitten back the hell I will one minute and had a sword and an oath clenched between his teeth in the next.
And so Zoro follows the sun.
He follows and his skin reddens and blisters and peels; it splits at the seams and bleeds as he burns, and still he follows. It aches and cracks, and still he reaches out, twining his fingers through promises and a loyalty that will not bend.
Luffy curls a hand around his jaw and it’s a different sort of burning, flaring up into his eyes and down to his very marrow. And Luffy asks, where will you go? Nowhere, Zoro says as the words gather in his throat, raw and parched, and he chokes on them, anywhere.
His touch is a balm as fingertips skitter across his skin, soothing and pressing and digging and prying, and Zoro thinks he would burn again and again, blinded by the sheer brilliance of it all.
And then it’s dark out on the open sea, some nights, and then others too many stars dot the horizon, gathering up above them like they’re spilling out of the slit open belly of a giant, and Luffy tilts his head, blistering heat where he rests against his shoulder and looks at Zoro and says, I think I know where, and would you come with me?
And Zoro is a drowning man with a lungful of sea water, salt gathering with blood at the corners of his mouth and asks, of course, and where?
Luffy smiles and it’s a gathering of starlight and the sun, and it makes Zoro want to shove his fist into his mouth and shatter every one of his teeth, and Luffy would just laugh and bite down on his wrist and lay claim to his pulse point, like he doesn’t already live inside its every thrum.
No telling, he says. Will you still come with me?
And Zoro burns and it rages in the pit of his belly right into the raw skin of each scar, into his fingertips as they dig into Luffy’s scalp. How dare he have to ask, grin with the knowledge that he already knows the answer, and Zoro turns to follow the sun and says, yes, says I wouldn’t be anywhere else.

You’d always liked astronomy. The current-world navigation had nothing to do with the stars, really; at least not when it came to the Grand Line. Unnatural magnetic fields and the odd weather was reason enough for that—but celestial navigation wasn’t even often used in any of the four quadrants. Too finicky, people would say; you know the practice had stopped being in use in the Marines years ago.
Nami knew it all, though. She was the only one of the Straw Hats who could read the stars, the sky spreading out as a map that only her eyes could read.
Your interest in it had always been more… artistic. While Nami babbled on about angles and reference points and sextants, you liked to talk about the planets and heavenly bodies blanketing the sky. It was dusk, and the sun was kissing the horizon good night, dull hues of pink and orange spreading alongside the sea with a golden shimmer as it tucked safely away.
You’d been lying out on the main deck for a good few hours, stretched like a cat along a hammock you’d strung up forever ago, when you heard footsteps.
“There you are, kitten,” Nami said with a laugh, and you sat up to appraise her. The evening glow cast fire to her orange hair, a blazing halo surrounding her head and painting her skin over in gold dust. “I’ve been looking all over for you.”
“Hi,” you said with a soft smile. “What for?”
“Well, for one, you missed supper.” Nami gingerly took a seat on the side of your hammock, the canvas cloth rocking from side to side with the motion. “Avoiding your crush again?”
You let out a sigh, half-exasperated as your bottom lip sucked in between your teeth. You nibbled at the flesh there, not responding. Nami had figured out a few weeks ago that you had a crush on one of the other Straw Hats, and she brought it up every so often, although all it did was cause a crease in your brow bone and a flicker of annoyance on your face.
“What, am I not supposed to bring that up?” Nami teased. The light shone in her crystal blue eyes, clear like the sky during midday, not a cloud in sight. “You still haven’t told me who it is.”
“Because you’ll pull something if I do!” you protested. “Don’t try to deny it, you conniving little witch.”
Nami gasped in mock-offense, a hand plastered to her chest. “And destroy your dignity like that? I would never.”
“I don’t trust you,” you answered, and Nami clicked her tongue. “What did Sanji make?”
“Fish. Soup. Rice.”
“You’re so undescriptive,” you said with a wrinkle of your nose. Nami just laughed.
“Not everyone can be as artistic as you, kitten. Come on, everyone left the kitchen already. You don’t have to worry about running into your mystery man.” She winked at the last sentence, and your breath caught. Nami seemed to notice, because she laughed, stepping up from the hammock and grabbing your hand to help you off. “You’re hilarious.”
“I didn’t say anything!” you protested. Nami just gave you a look, and you rolled your eyes, but let her drag you along the ship until you reached the kitchen. “You’re so mean to me,” you said, slumping into the nearest chair available.
“Mhm. Here.” Nami started serving up a plate, loading it full of food before passing it over to you. It was quickly joined by a bowl of soup. “Eat. We’re docking tomorrow, so you should get your energy up. We’re going shopping.”
“Shopping for what?” you asked, bringing the bowl of soup to your lips. Seaweed. “If you say rope and boat parts I’m going to scream.” As much as you liked the pirate life, there was only so much of the technicalities you could take. You weren’t very much a practical soul, lumped in very much with Luffy when it came to your general attitude of your job description. Pirating consisted of adventure and art, in your opinion.
“Rope and boat parts,” Nami said with a straight face. She’d always been the exact opposite, all focused on maps and making sure everything was running smoothly. “Well, only partly. I’ve been sent to go clothes shopping too. And to pick up a few other supplies.” Her eyes sparkled. “You’re coming with me, right? Well, unless you want to join your…”
“Shut up,” you said, making a face at her as you set your bowl down. Nami just laughed.
“Just putting it out there, kitten. I’m sure you might be more interested in going with Usopp to talk to the stevedores. Or Zoro to the local tavern. Or Sanji for the—”
“Nope, nope, and nope. I’m going with you,” you said firmly. There was a whisper of a smile at your lips, but Nami didn’t seem to notice it. “And I still don’t get why I’m a kitten.”
“Because,” Nami answered, propping her elbows on the table as she gazed over at you. “I’m the cat burglar. You’re the kitten.”
“Why isn’t Luffy the kitten?”
“Luffy’s the captain, and I don’t like him as much.” Nami straightened, starting to clean up around the kitchen and load the abandoned dishes from when everyone else had eaten into the sink. You smiled at that. “You don’t like him, do you? I feel like you could do so much better.”
“My lips are sealed,” you answered. Nami gave you a sidelong look.
“That better not be a yes.”
You just shrugged, raising the bowl of soup again and finishing the rest of it before turning to the rice and fish. “Let’s not talk about it. What about you? Any romantic prospects—”
Nami turned so abruptly you almost choked while eating. “I just barely started learning how to make friends. Maybe we wait a few months before we get to that,” she said. You coughed, palm pressed to your lips as you cleared out your airways.
“Okay. Aggressive.”
Nami scowled. “That was not aggressive.”
You pulled a face. “Kinda sounds like you have something to hide, Nami,” you teased, and although you didn’t actually expect her to react, she did. To your surprise, Nami turned away again, the very edges of her face pinkening. You stared at her, heartbeat slowing to a steady thud in your chest. There was a faint taste of panic at the back of your throat, slightly sour and acidic like blood or rust. “Um, what was that?”
“What was what?” Nami asked evenly. Too evenly. You gaped at her back, organs wobbling precariously inside of your chest.
“That—thing.”
“Kitten, if you want me to understand what you’re talking about, you’re going to have to be a little clearer than that,” Nami said smoothly. “Now it’s getting dark. You should get to bed. Last chance to shove yourself with your crewmate of choice.”
“I’m still going with you,” you said stubbornly, shoveling the last of your rice in your mouth before slipping off your chair. You moved around the table, setting your bowl and chopsticks into the sink. “You want me to do them?” you asked, nodding at the dirty dishes that’d piled up. Nami shook her head.
“Go sleep,” she said gently. “I’ll get you in the morning.”
You watched her for a moment, lips twisting before you finally relented. “Night, Nami,” you said, and she turned away. You were safe there for a moment, admiring how the soft backlit glow from the windows etched shadows along her face. She really was beautiful, and your heart thudded fast in your chest.
Nami was the strongest person you knew. The smartest person you knew. The Straw Hats wouldn’t be the same without her, and sometimes you found it funny how she seemed so convinced you had a crush on one of the other members of the crew when it was so obvious that she was your north star.
Ah, well. She’d just have to keep on guessing.
Nami woke you at the crack of dawn, where the hazy rays of the sun just started rising up from the sea shore. You’d traveled to shore while asleep, and everyone was already up and running.
“Luffy left already,” Nami was saying, tying a bandana around her head as you gathered up the rest of the supplies you needed. “And we’ll probably spend the whole day out, so we can get lunch in the village.” She eyed you. “I packed breakfast. Come on.”
You followed her off the ship, savoring the early morning wind along the harbor. The dock men were all already hard at work, milling around the dozens of boats with tools and equipment propped on their shoulders. “Where to first?” you asked.
“Boat parts,” she said, casting you a sympathetic smile. “Some rope, extra sails, some other stuff. After that I’m thinking groceries—I put Sanji in charge of bulk stock this time, so just stuff like soap and necessities—and then clothes.” She grinned. “And some fun stuff.”
“Sounds good to me,” you said. Nami did most of the talking, but you were content to watch her barter, leaning back on your heels as she argued with sellers and eventually left with a satisfied smirk on your face. She hired some of the dock men to carry the ropes and items to the Going Merry, looking her arm in yours and going off to your next stop.
“You know, you’re basically stealing from them like this,” you told her, a smile evident in your voice. “Forty-five thousand berry to thirty thousand. That’s actually terrifying.”
“I said take it or leave it and he took it.” Nami shrugged, but you could see a beam of pride shine through her face. “But enough of that. The market’s up ahead.”
The entire village seemed to have been brought out, because true to Nami’s words, there was a fair going on. Stalls boasting all kinds of wares lined the streets, and you peeked through all of them, even at Nami’s urges to hurry up and focus only on your shopping list. She watched you with a soft smile on her lips, the expressions interlaced with ones of exasperation.
“I should’ve just picked a random man and carted you off with him,” she said with a click of her tongue as you spent far too much time glancing through a stand of knick-knacks and jewelry. “Currently either Zoro or Sanji are my top contenders.”
You barely suppressed a snort, fingers carefully combing through a bowl of baubles. There were various items inside, from earrings missing a sister to pins and little statuettes. “How come?”
“Usopp has Kaya, so I would hope you don’t like him,” Nami said. You raised an eyebrow, glancing up to meet her gaze.
“Kaya’s all the way back in Syrup Village, Nami. She can’t do anything, and who knows when we’ll return there?”
Nami gave you a horrified look. “Kitten, that’s a terrible thing to say.”
You just laughed, dropping your gaze again and picking at the bowl. There was a dull gleam of something at the bottom; it wasn’t gold or brass like anything else there, and was instead a shining, milky white. You dug through the pile, trying to get to it. “You’re such a romantic.”
“Does that mean it is Usopp?”
“I do not confirm nor deny a thing,” you said, finally plucking out what had captured your attention. It was a necklace, the pendant a glittering star on a gold chain. “And I want reasoning.”
“You’re not buying that,” Nami said, gaze flickering down to it before meeting your eyes again. “Zoro because he’s conventionally attractive and Sanji because he can cook.”
You scoffed, studying the necklace. “Those are terrible reasons.”
“I can’t think of any good ones,” Nami protested. “The only thing I can think of are reasons you wouldn’t like any of them. Because they’re all kind of losers and you could do much, much better.” She tilted her head imperceptibly upwards, and you saw a little glimmer in her eye, a reaction that bore uncanny similarity to the one she’d worn the day before. You swallowed, throat suddenly dry.
“You think Zoro’s conventionally attractive?” You turned towards the stand seller, motioning at the necklace. “How much?”
“You’re not buying that,” Nami repeated, shooting you a look. “It’s a waste of perfectly good berry.”
“It’s five hundred at most,” you scoffed, fishing a wad of bills out from your pocket. Nami sighed, but she didn’t argue. “Barely anything. Do you think Zoro’s conventionally attractive?”
Nami looked distracted. “Hm?”
“You said Zoro was conventionally attractive,” you repeated, voice firmer this time. You tried to suppress the little tremble in your cadence as you passed the money to the seller. He counted it and gave you a firm nod. Carefully, you dropped the necklace in your pocket. “Do you think he is?”
“Well—from an objective standpoint—”
You pushed past the swarm of patrons milling around the stands, Nami having to quicken her pace to keep up with you. “Attraction isn’t objective.”
“Kitten.” Nami grabbed your wrist, forcing you to slow down, and you flinched. She tugged you in the direction of another stand, probably something off her list. “Why do you care so much? Am I right? Is he the one you like?”
You wiggled your wrist out of Nami’s grip. “I don’t care, I’m just curious. Because you’ve been blushing for the past half hour and you mentioned Zoro was conventionally attractive. And if you say he’s conventionally attractive that means you think he’s conventionally attractive. So assumedly you are blushing because of—”
It clearly took Nami a moment to unscramble your honestly entirely nonsensical words. “Kitten, I’m trying to figure out whether or not you have a crush on Zoro. You’re not supposed to be trying to figure out if I do. And I have not been blushing.”
You relented, but still couldn’t suppress the pout that threatened your mouth. Your teeth pressed against the flesh of your lower lip, running alongside the skin but not fully biting. “You said Zoro was conven—”
“If I have to hear you say the words conventionally attractive one more time, I swear I will lock you in the hold,” Nami said sharply, and you had to choke back your laugh. “And the reason I said that is because every single time we go out, at least five people turn to stare at his stupid face. Do you not remember that time on Mirror Ball Island? We practically had to fight women off of him.”
“Okay, fine,” you said, a glimpse at her features seemed to support her words. She was as guarded as ever, and clearly irritated, though her vexation didn’t seem as bad as the annoyances she’d hold over the rest of the crew. They never did, really; Luffy always liked to say that you were Nami’s favorite. “I’m hungry. Can we eat?”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
“I neither confirm nor deny anything,” you repeated for what seemed like the thousandth time in the past week. “Restaurant. Please.”
Nami didn’t look away from you, but relented, and the two of you went to the nearest restaurant to have lunch. You were mainly silent during the meal, replaying the conversation from before over and over again in your head. There was a buzz of uncertainty in the pit of your stomach, one that you entirely disliked.
Before you’d been fine with keeping quiet about your crush—you never felt too threatened or upset, under the impression that your feelings wouldn’t be reciprocated and that Nami wouldn’t fall for anyone in the near future anyway. And you didn’t mind her guessing between your four male comrades to find the one who’d stolen your heart.
But the reactions and the blushes were a development. And you were starting to think that Nami herself had a mystery beau.
Nami talked about work during the meal, going down her grocery list and checking off the things she’d gotten. You watched her as she glared down at her notebook, pencil caught between two fingers as she scribbled down notes to herself. “You’re not eating,” you said gently.
“Sorry. Distracted,” Nami answered. She shot you a smile, but it quickly fell as she turned back to her notebook. “What about Sanji?”
You suppressed a sigh. “Are you still on about this?”
“Yes,” Nami insisted. She finally shut her notebook, slipping it into the bag hanging off her waist and picking up her chopsticks to return to her soup noodles. “You’d never go hungry with him around, at least.”
“I think you need to raise your standards. I already don’t go hungry with him around, I don’t need to date him for that.”
Nami clicked her tongue, but it was good-natured. “You’re making this so hard for me.”
“I don’t want to talk about myself anymore,” you insisted, setting down your chopsticks. You’d basically finished your bowl already; there were only the final remnants of broth and rice noodles at the bottom, the soup seasoning darker in color; more pungent.
You fiddled with your hands, trying to ignore the sinking feeling in your stomach that persisted even as you thought back to what Nami had said about Zoro. Her reasoning had been sound enough, but you still felt vaguely sick, that bitter taste of sour iron at the back of your throat again.
“Are you okay?” Nami’s eyes met yours, and you flinched away. “You’re acting weird.”
“I’m fine,” you muttered. “I think I’m going to head back to the ship and take a nap. I’m kind of tired.” Before Nami could say anything, you got up, chair scraping along the restaurant floor. “See you later?”
“What? Kitten, wait—” Nami called, but you just swallowed, glancing over your shoulder to shoot her an apologetic look.
The Going Merry was a breath of fresh air as you stepped foot back onto her deck. There were some dockmen milling about, setting material along the deck as Usopp directed them as to where everything went.
You brushed past them to veer towards your hammock, slipping onto it and kicking your legs up along the cloth without pause. Your eyes closed, and you let the sun melt down on your face, the tension in your chest easing as you embraced the beam of the sky.
You stayed there for a while, knowing you were safe as Nami wouldn’t come find you until she’d finished with all her actual tasks. Although this was occasionally irritating if you were in real desire for attention, you appreciated the responsible side of her now. You didn’t have to confront her for a few hours yet, so you spent the time on your hammock, watching the clouds drifting in the sky and picking out the dull stars that shimmered as the sky got darker.
It was just before suppertime when you remembered the necklace you’d bought. Stars were just beginning to materialize, dark blues and purples replacing the cerulean hues that previously blanketed the Earth. You fished the star necklace out of your pocket, peering at the pendant again. It was made of some sort of shimmering stone you didn’t recognize—perhaps opal—that made it glow like an actual star, iridescent when light hit it.
“Hey, kitten.”
You looked up, watching as Nami made her way across the ship deck to where you lay. She looked tired, but still bore a soft smile on her face as she met your gaze. “Hi,” you said, tucking the necklace back into your pocket. Behind her you could see the last of the hired work carrying barrels down to the hold. “Get everything done?”
“Mhm,” Nami said. “Wanna talk about earlier?”
“Not really,” you muttered, the sharp tang of rust dancing at the back of your tongue again. “Sorry about storming out. I felt unwell.”
Nami studied you carefully, arms folding unconsciously over her chest. “I can stop bothering you about your crush, if you want,” she said finally, a gust of a sigh leaving her lips. “I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
“No, it’s okay,” you said, getting up and climbing your legs over the edge so you were sitting on the hammock. “You didn’t make me uncomfortable, Nami, I swear.”
“You walked out in the middle of a meal, kitten,” Nami said, and you could hear her voice starting to get upset, even as she tried to level her tone. “Clearly I did. Was it because I kept trying to figure it out? Was I right with Zoro? What—”
“It’s not because of that,” you interrupted, trying to keep your voice gentle even as your chest squeezed inward. You were powerless to your muscles; to your heart as it did a pathetic little thump-thump thing inside of you.
“Then why?” Nami leaned forward on her heels, and the setting sun caught her eyes, kaleidoscope blue glittering a thousand different shades like the opal of your necklace. “Just tell me, kitten. So I won’t do it again.”
“It was because of you,” you mumbled, shying away from her gaze. Nami sighed.
“Yes, we established that I did something to upset you already. I’m trying to find out what—”
“You called Zoro attractive and I was jealous,” you blurted, before you could even think to stop the words from falling out of your mouth. Nami froze, and you lifted your eyes up hesitantly to see her reaction.
Her shoulders were all tense, face guarded, eyes blank from their usual expression. “Oh,” she said evenly. There was an ugly purse tightening at her lips, and she fought to keep them in an even line. “So it is Zoro, then. Thank you for telling me.”
She turned away then, her movements abrupt as she started walking. A pulse of panic captured your heart, and you called desperately out to her, volume far too loud in the late hour. You didn’t find yourself caring. “I wasn’t jealous of you!” you cried, and Nami’s entire body went still.
She turned back towards you, so slowly that you found yourself capturing your breath in your throat waiting for her.
“I wasn’t jealous of you,” you repeated once her eyes met yours. “I was jealous of Zoro. Of you thinking he was attractive.” Your fingers fumbled together, trying to find something to occupy themselves with as you choked out the final sentence. “My mystery man is you, Nami. I like you.”
It took a long while for Nami to respond, and the Going Merry rocked as you waited, a soft sway of delay and building panic. There was a shimmer of something in Nami’s eyes, and her lips tugged downwards.
Her voice was hollow when she spoke. “What?”
“I don’t like Zoro or Usopp or Sanji or Luffy, Nami,” you said, hands tightening around each other with every word spilt out from between your lips. “I like you. I like you when you call me kitten. I like you when you complain about me buying things but let me do it anyway. I like you even when you’re teasing me about my crush.” Your voice dropped to a low mumble. “And I was jealous because you thought Zoro was attractive.”
“Oh, kitten,” Nami said, and you glanced up to see her right in front of you, bent over to meet your level sitting down. She reached for your hands, and you let her take them, exhaling as her tender grasp clasped around your palms.
“Nami,” you whispered, horrified to hear how wet your voice sounded. You blinked rapidly, trying to keep the tears at bay. “Nami, you may be the ship’s navigator, but you’re my north star. I like you.”
Kitten, I do not think Zoro is attractive,” Nami said, and you had to choke back startled laughter at that being what she was focusing on. “That is the least of your worries.”
“But—you seemed so annoyed when you thought it was Zorodon’t you like—”
“You’ve got it all wrong,” Nami said, a soft laugh leaving her lips. They were trembling. Her entire body was trembling, even her hands as she cocooned yours in them. “I was annoyed because I thought you liked Zoro. Because—I like you too.”
You swallowed, surprise forcing your jaw to fall slack as you met her gaze. “Really?” you whispered. Nami nodded; she coaxed soft circles into the skin of your hands, a supportive smile edging up her lips.
“I really thought you liked someone else, kitten, I would’ve said something before if—” Nami let out another gentle laugh. “If I knew. It wasn’t until you told me about the crush did I realize. I got a little… too overprotective, and then… well, it wasn’t very platonic at that point.” She ducked her head, hiding her smile, but you slipped one of your hands out of her grasp to push it back up. “God, you’re too good for any of them.”
“I don’t want to talk about how the rest of them suck,” you murmured. “I want to talk about how amazing you are. Oh—and—” You dug your hand in your pocket, pulling out the necklace. “This reminded me of you. I got it for you.”
“Kitten,” Nami breathed, as you unclasped the necklace and carefully put it on her. It swung around her neck before you adjusted it, golden yellow bright against the white of her pale skin. The opal glittered, catching the moonlight that’d steadily glowed brighter from behind you. “Thank you. It’s still a waste of money though.”
“Not for you,” you said, grabbing her hands to squeeze her fingers. “Never for you.” You took in a nervous breath, your chest tightening inside—but it wasn’t all bitter and sour, nothing like the taste of panic.
Nami met you in the middle when you finally leaned up to kiss her, your hand slipping up the side of her face, fingers curling in her orange hair. She smiled when she kissed, soft and carefree for once, that serious facade she always took on melting away in the moment. She kissed softly; tenderly; like the moon shining gentle waves on the East Blue below or the sun in the hazy morning sky casting light across the world.
There were footsteps approaching from behind Nami. You opened your eyes, tilting your gaze up to see Zoro staring down at you both. Nami broke apart from you, glancing over her shoulder. None of you said anything.
“Okay,” Zoro decided, and then walked off. You barely managed to stifle your giggles until he was out of earshot.
“God, he’s such a loser,” Nami said, and then kissed you again.

Trying to act normal and inconspicuous in the One Piece universe was a far from easy task. Being the massive fan of the series that you were, it was damn hard to not give away that you knew all about the crew that was so generously letting you stay with them after appearing on their ship with zero explanation.
It became even harder to stay lowkey when Ace temporarily joined up with the Strawhats. All you wanted was to hug that man and tell him how loved he is and that he deserves to live just as much as anyone else, but you really couldn’t say or do any of that without looking weird. You’ll just have to settle for being extremely nice to him, which was very easy.
Ace himself was already an easy guy to get along with (now at least), but he was noticeably very interested in you. You couldn’t blame him, what with Luffy almost immediately outing your insane situation to him. He seemed incredulous at first, but warmed up to and accepted the story way faster than you expected. It didn’t take long for his questions to go from feeling like an interrogation to being genuine.
You were so busy soaking up the attention from such a beloved character that you almost missed how jealous your crewmates were getting. Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper were taking it the best. Chopper probably because he was still so new to the crew that he wasn’t all that bothered by one of them not paying as much attention to him. Usopp was too busy building Nami’s weapon to concern himself with it too much. Meanwhile, Luffy was just so happy to see Ace again that he didn’t really notice that you were spending a lot of time with him. That, and he would usually be hanging out with both of you anyways.
The others though, oh boy did they not like this. Nami was the most blatant about it, straight up glowering at you and Ace whenever you two were too close for her liking. You’re pretty sure the only thing keeping her from up and dragging you away from him is Luffy dismissing her complaints and telling her to stop fretting over it. You love being a part of their crew, so she should quit worrying!
Sanji and Zoro were both vying for your attention in their own ways as well. Sanji suddenly wanted more help around the kitchen, insisting that he needed an extra pair of hands now that there was another mouth to feed. Given that Ace’s appetite was on par with Luffy’s, you could understand the desire for help. Zoro’s attempts were considerably less convincing. One time he wanted you to spot him while he was working out, making you laugh right in his face at the mere idea that you would be able to help him with the ridiculous weights he lifts. His face had gone bright red after you pointed it out to him, prompting him to walk away immediately, much to your amusement.
Right now, though, you weren’t with Ace. Him and Luffy were busy doing something and you didn’t want to butt in on all their time together. Instead, you were ogling Ace’s boat that was currently tied to the side of the Going Merry.
You absolutely loved the design of his ship, it was such a clever idea to use his devil fruit ability to power a steam engine and make what looks like a tiny sailboat function like a jet ski. It didn’t appear in the anime too many times but everytime it was on screen it looked so cool.
“I wonder what it’d be like to ride that,” you quietly mused to yourself.
“Wanna find out?”
You almost jumped out of your skin at the sudden arrival of Ace. He laughed at your reaction, not a care in the world for the near heart attack he just gave you.
“Oh my God, Ace, you scared the hell out of me!” You lightly slapped at his shoulder, your other hand resting over your now racing heart.
He laughed some more, “I could tell, and I’m sorry about that.” He didn’t sound even vaguely sorry. Ace elbowed your side, “But seriously, do you want to go for a ride?”
The offer had you staring wide-eyed at him. Then the boat. Then back at him again. “Really? Are you sure?” You were desperately trying to keep your cool and not show how insanely excited you were about the idea.
“Of course! I wouldn’t have offered it if I wasn’t. Come on,” he hopped up onto the railing and held his hand out to you. You didn’t need to mull it over, eagerly taking hold and stepping up with him. As soon as you did, he wrapped an arm around you and was ready to jump down onto his boat when Nami started yelling.
“Woah, woah, woah, what the hell are you two doing???” Nami, who was previously pruning her trees, had abandoned the activity entirely in favor of sprinting over to where you were and grabbing onto your leg.
“(Y/N) wanted to try riding my boat, so we’re going for a little joyride, that’s all,” Ace flashed Nami a dazzling smile, not at all deterred by her interruption.
“No way! What if they fall off? That thing doesn’t look safe at all!” Nami was now pulling on you, trying to get you down from the railing.
Ace held on tighter in response, “It’s perfectly safe, it has to be. I’m a devil fruit user, remember? (Y/N) isn’t, so really, I’m in more danger on that than they are. It’s fine.”
You could tell Nami was ready to argue more, but thankfully Luffy piped up, “Don’t worry about it Nami! If Ace says it’s safe then it’s safe!” Luffy, who was perched on his special seat at the bow, came bounding over, “But I wanna go next!”
“Sure thing, Luffy, we’ll be back in a bit,” Ace was quick to jump down with you in tow, not wanting to give any of the other Strawhats a chance to object. After untying it from the Going Merry, he knelt down slightly, “Hop on my back, you’re not gonna want to have your feet down there when we get going.”
Not wanting to get set on fire, you obliged. If you weighed anything to him, he didn’t show it, simply standing up straight as soon as you were on. “Ready?”
You excitedly nod your head, holding on tight to Ace in preparation. It was a good thing too, because he decided to immediately start at the leisurely speed of what felt like mach 7. A shriek emits from your throat as you take off. You think you can hear Nami yelling something again, but couldn’t make it out over your own screaming and the noise of the steam engine roaring to life.
Ace laughed loudly at your reaction, but did slow down slightly, “Sorry about that, I just wanted to get some distance before anyone else tried to stop us.” One of his arms let go of your leg and tugged at your arms around his neck, “But would you mind easing up a bit? I won’t be able to take us back if you choke me out.”
“Oh oops, I’m sorry!” You immediately loosened your arms and readjusted them. Accidentally strangling Ace was not something you wanted to do today. Or any day really.
He simply shrugged it off, telling you not to worry about it. It’s not like you could really hurt him. “I’m gonna speed up again, you ready for it this time?”
The second you confirm that you are, the boat lurches forward, cutting through the waves like nothing. Now that you weren’t panicking, you could properly take in the experience and thoroughly enjoy it.
The wind was whipping through your hair and sea water misted the air, droplets clinging to both yours and Ace’s hair. He hit a particularly big wave causing the boat to go airborne for a moment before crashing back down. You found yourself laughing and cheering as Ace continued to show off, which only egged him on more.
After a while, Ace slowed to a stop and let you down from his back. “C’mere, step up on this,” he stepped to the side and motioned for you to step up onto the front of his boat. His hands rested on your hips to keep you steady, presumably not wanting to get chewed out by Nami if you came back sopping wet.
“This is one of the best parts of being at sea,” he was staring straight ahead. “Sunsets out here are something else, you don’t get a view like this on land.”
He was completely correct, it was beautiful. Orange, red, and pink hues colored the sky and reflected gorgeously in the ocean. It was a breathtaking view, one you would remember forever.
The two of you fell into a comfortable silence, quietly admiring the view with nothing but the natural sounds of the ocean around you. It was nice, very peaceful.
“What do you think about staying here?”
You tense at Ace suddenly speaking. “Like staying out here a little longer?” As lovely as this was, the others were bound to get antsy if you stayed out after dark.
“No, I mean staying here in this world,” he stepped closer to you, wrapping his arms fully around you and resting his head on your shoulder to be able to see your face. “It’s nice here, right? Why not stick around? I know Luffy wants you to. Hell, I’m sure the rest of the crew does, too.”
You were taken aback by this statement, and weren’t really sure how to respond. Sure, it could be nice here when you all weren’t being hunted for sport by marines, but this wasn’t a place you could see yourself staying long term. That, and you had a life back home, you couldn’t just throw your friends and family to the wind like that.
Sucking in a breath, you searched for the nicest way to say all that. “It is nice here, but I have to go back.” You could feel his posture stiffen behind you, “Don’t get me wrong, you all have been super nice to me! It’s just that I’ve got all my friends and family back home and I miss them terribly.”
“Your family?” Ace said this so quietly that you weren’t even sure he was saying that to you. Abruptly, he straightened up, “I know! If you want a family so bad you can join the Whitebeard pirates!”
What? You joining the Whitebeard pirates? You already feel inadequate enough around the Strawhats, you can’t imagine how pathetic you would feel around those people. Of course, it would be awesome to get to meet them, but you want to keep to yourself as much as possible since you will eventually have to go back home.
While you were thinking, Ace kept going, “Pops would love you, I just know it. We haven’t gotten another sibling in a while, everyone would be psyched to meet you.” His once comforting hug was growing tighter by the second. Suffocating even.
“Ace-”
“And you already have friends with my brother’s crew, so that’s all taken care of!”
“Ace, ple-”
“Of course, I’m your friend too, but after you join I’ll be your big brother!”
“ACE!” Your yell startled him, mercifully making him let go of you. You take the opportunity to inch forward and create some distance, however minute.  “That’s,” oh, how to put this without hurting his feelings, “that’s very kind of you to offer, but I’d rather stay with the Strawhats for now.”
“Oh…” You don’t even need to turn around to know how disappointed he was by this declaration. He chuckled awkwardly, “I’m sorry about that, looks like I got a little carried away there.”
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it,” frankly, you just wanted to go back to the ship after that. The atmosphere was uncomfortable now.
After a few more seconds of silence, Ace cleared his throat and spoke again, “We should probably head back now, it’s gonna be dark soon.”
You were quick to agree and clambered onto his back, “Yeah that’s a good idea, Nami would throw a fit if we stay out much longer.” She’ll probably be mad regardless, but still.
Ace got his boat going and began the trip back. The Going Merry was a lot further away than you’d realized, it was so small that you could just barely make it out in the distance. You internally cringe, your crewmates are no doubt unhappy about you being this far away.
Despite the distance, you couldn’t help but notice how slow Ace was going compared to earlier. It’s like he wanted to drag this out for as long as possible. You decided not to call him out on it, not deeming it worth it.
“I’m not giving up, you know.”
“What?”
“I’ll drop it for now, but I’m not giving up on you joining Whitebeard’s crew. Just… think about it, okay?” Ace’s voice was quiet, just barely loud enough to hear over the engine.
The rest of the ride back remained dead silent, giving you plenty of time to mull over what just happened. It felt so… Weird. Out of character, really. He’s known you for, what? 24 hours? If that. Yet he’s trying to talk you out of going home and seems dead set on replacing your family with his own. Granted, everyone’s been more clingy than you thought normal, but this was downright bizarre.
You really need to find a way home, and fast.

Pairing: Robin x afab!reader x Franky
TW: threesome, cyborg banging, misuse of devil fruit powers, girl on girl, two girls one guy, fingering, riding, face sitting. porn!
——
“That color is ugly.” Nami comments at the shade of light green you had chosen to paint you toenails.
“Is it really that bad?” You lean back and admire your half painted foot. It shimmered in the sunlight on the deck of the ship.
“Looks like barf.” Nami didn’t look up from her work, carefully painting her own nails a dark shade of pink.
“Well now that you’ve said that, I can’t unthink it. Do you have the polish remover?” You ask.
“I think Robin has it in her room, you can go grab it, puke-toes.” Nami laughed.
You roll your eyes and stand up. You begin to head towards the inside of the ship in search of the nail polish remover. You reach Robin’s bedroom door and grab the handle and open the door. You three girls were best friends at this point, knocking was a moot point.
“Hey, Nami said my toes were ugly so can I just grab the-“
Your eyes immediately meet Robin’s as she gasps. Fully nude, she is seated on Franky’s lap who was also shed of his swim briefs. His huge hands cradled her pale, plump ass. A slight sheen of sweat covered her forehead as her arms wrapped around his massive neck.
“Y/n!” Robin yelps out at you.
“OH my god?! I’m so sorry!” You stutter out and slam the door shut behind you and run back up through the ship. Your mind was racing. Franky and Robin? A thing? I mean… it makes sense the more you think about it… but seeing it first hand was still a bit jarring. Were other people here having sex? Were you the only one who had never done it before? Is this something you were missing out on?
You burst through the door to the deck where Nami was fanning her drying nails.
“Woah where’s the fire, y/n?” Nami asked you, noticing your panicked expression.
“Nami I- I went to get the nail polish remover- and I? I don’t know! The door wasn’t locked! I just went in! And she- and they- they were…!” You were out of breath and couldn’t get out a coherent thought.
“Oh, walked in on Franky and Robin? Yeah they’re like rabbits lately. Good for them, honestly.” Nami went back to fanning her nails.
“Wait… you knew?” You couldn’t believe it.
“Duh? Are you that oblivious? Why do you think they’re always mysteriously absent after dinner? Jeez you need to get laid.” Nami rolled her eyes.
“Wait… are YOU fucking someone!? Is everyone here having sex but me?!” Your eyes bugged out of your head. Were you the only (human) virgin left on this ship? Sure you had urges, but you always just took care of it yourself in the quiet of your own room late at night.
“Not since that last island, no. Nobody on the crew, obviously, pickings are way too slim. I made out with Sanji once when I was wasted but he was such a bad kisser I told him to get fucked. It was all wet and gross.”
“Really he was that bad—? Wait come on, you’re getting laid too? Is everyone else?!” You returned to the point of your questioning.
“I mean yeah, y/n, we all have needs. Except for Zoro… I think there’s something seriously wrong with his brain. Sex is great, especially with someone who knows what they’re doing.” Nami gave you the truth. Maybe it was time for you to finally explore your sexuality…
You both turned your heads as a door swung open. A red-faced Robin smiled meekly at the two of you as she walked towards you and sat down at your side.
“You need to start using those hands to lock doors, girlfriend.” Nami chuckled and rose to her feet. She winked at the both of you and headed into the kitchen.
“Hi y/n… So… I’m sorry about that. I should have been more careful. It was a private moment and I apologize for you having to see it.” She genuinely searches your eyes for forgiveness.
“it.. it’s okay. I just didn’t know you guys were together like that…” You blush and look down at your feet. Robin smiled.
“He’s sweet. I know we might not look like we’d work out, but I find him quite charming actually!” Robin’s eyes sparkled. “And the sex is phenomenal.”
“Oh.. I… um… I wouldn’t know…” You felt your cheeks continue to heat up.
“Are you a virgin, y/n?”
“Yes.” Your voice was barely above a whisper, talking mostly to yourself. You continue. “It’s not like I’m doing it on purpose… I’m plenty old enough and I’ve thought about it loads… I just… haven’t had the right opportunity…”
“Well… If you really wanted to change that… I’m sure we could help you.” Robin takes your hand in hers. You look up into her eyes, they were kind and warm.
“What?” You were confused as to what kind of help she was offering you.
“If you wanted to experience sex with people you trust for your first time, I have no doubt Franky would jump at the opportunity. I would be there too, of course, to guide you. We’re very… open… to new experiences… if you’re understanding what I’m saying.”
“Oh…” Your eyes widen. It might be a good idea to finally get that awkward first time out the way, especially with someone you trust and know well. “I mean… yes? Sure. I guess I’m saying yes.”
“Perfect.” Robin squeezes your hand. “How about tonight? After dinner? My room?”
You nod. You can’t believe you’re casually agreeing to lose your virginity to two of your closest friends.
— —
That night, after dinner, you excused yourself from the table a little early so you could freshen yourself up. You took a quick shower, shaving your legs and trimming your bush, washing your hair with the most expensive shampoo you could find in the Sunny’s shared bathroom. After the shower you dried your hair and slathered your body in lotion. You felt like you were getting dolled up for a date, not a dick appointment.
You perused your closet for something to wear. You wanted to look comfy and casual, but still sexy… wait why were you overthinking this? You had known Robin and Franky for years, who were you trying to impress? You shook yourself out of your racing thoughts and settled on a black pair of knee length spandex bike shorts and a black cropped tee. You finished your hair and applied a bit of makeup before spritzing yourself with perfume. You looked at yourself in the mirror.
“Ok y/n. You can do this. It’s your totally normal friends who are a robot and someone with devil fruit powers who are going to take your virginity. This is fine and normal. Your life is normal.” After a few minutes of hyping yourself up, you make your way to Robin’s room. You take a deep breath and knock on the door a few times, remembering to knock this time after your intrusion earlier.
Robin quickly opens the door with a bright smile.
“Y/n! Come in! Are you thirsty? I have some wine.” She grabs your hand and pulls you into her room. Franky was relaxing in a large armchair against the wall facing the bed.
“Hey pretty thing! So good to see ya!” He beamed at you with a cola in his hand.
“Hi Frank, sorry about earlier…” You meekly apologize and stared at the floor.
“Hey no problem! Sorry ya had to walk in on me and the lady like that without warning.” Franky pushed his sunglasses up on his head and took a sip of his beverage.
“Here, y/n.” Robin shoved a large glass of white wine into your hand. She clinked her own glass with yours and winked. “Come sit.”
Robin retreated to her bed and patted a spot next to her for you to sit down. You took a big gulp of your drink and sat next to her on the fluffy purple comforter.
“So I was just telling Franky that you’re a virgin.” Robin states casually as she sips her wine. You choke on yours.
*cough* “Oh um.. yeah…” *cough*  “I’ve never done anything really…” You sheepishly say as you catch your breath.
“Wow, someone as gorgeous as you? I’d had never guessed. Well don’t you worry sweet thing, we’ll take care of you real nice, right mama?” The cyborg smirks and leans back in his chair.
“Of course daddy, we’re going to make sure she feels so good.” Robin uses her free hand to start stroking your upper arm.
“Oh, so we’re like- doing this? Now? Okay uh-“ You stutter out.
“Well, whenever you’re ready, sweet girl. You’re just so pretty I can’t help myself.” Robin scoots herself closer to you on the bed and starts playing with the hem of your crop top. “Can I take your clothes off? I can take mine off too, if that’ll help you feel more comfortable.” Robin purrs into your ear.
“O-okay…”
Robin pulls your shirt over your head, breasts falling and bouncing against your chest. She then slips off your shorts, making you fully nude in front of them.
“Wow sweet cheeks, no bra or panties? And pierced nipples? Such a little minx.” Franky remarks at your lack of undergarments. You blush at the comment about your piercings.
Robin stood up and pulled her dress over her head.
“Isn’t she cute?” Robin smiles at you and back at Franky as she slips her panties down her legs and unhooks her bra. Her incredible rack was staring you straight in the face and you unconsciously rubbed your legs together in excitement. Her body was so gorgeous and toned, you wanted to feel it on top of you.
With both of you completely naked, Robin sits next to you again on the bed. “May I kiss you, y/n?” Robin asks, bringing her hand to your chin.
“Yes…” You whisper, meeting her gaze. You close your eyes as she leans into you. Her kiss is soft, her lips are buttery and smooth. After a brief moment of pressing her lips to yours, she begins rolling her tongue along your lower lip, silently asking for you to open your mouth. You oblige and she slips her tongue into your mouth to explore it eagerly. You bring your hand up to cup the side of her neck.
“Mmph!” You huff out in surprise as she slid one of her hands up to your breast and experimentally toyed with your nipple. You continue to make out as her hands play and squeeze at your breasts. Robin pulls back from your lips, continuing her ministrations on your tits, rolling the silver barbells in her fingers.
“You’re so sensitive, little one, can’t wait to see what else turns you on.” Robin giggles.
“Spread her legs, mama, wanna see that cute little pussy.” Franky prompts her from his chair.
Quickly, Robin is behind you, your back pressed against her ample chest. She gentlly takes your calves and hooks them over her spread legs so you were fully exposed for your robot lover. She begins open mouth kissing on your neck from behind and you sigh at the feeling.
“Can I touch you, y/n? Is this okay so far?” Robin whispers into your ear.
“Yes… I want you to touch me…” You whimper out, body aching for more contact.
“But no one has ever touched you here… right? Maybe just yourself?” She slid one of her hands down to cup your mound. Her voice became more sinister. Your face and ears were bright red, feeling embarrassed but your sexual desires were too strong so you pushed the feeling aside.
“Just me, Robin… no one else…”
“hmm… So you know what you like? How about this? Do you play with your little clit like this?” Robin coos at you as she begins to apply pressure to your throbbing bud and rub it in circles, your pussy was leaking at this point.
“Hnnnnn, yes! Yes I like this!” You whine out.
Robin continues slowly rubbing your clit and kissing your neck. She uses her free hand to pinch your nipples. Wait, was that a third hand? You looked down and you had one hand touching your sex and two on your breasts. You had never thought about it before but her devil fruit powers were certainly useful in this situation.
“You two look so super like this…” Franky lowly slurs out as he takes another sip of his drink from across the room. “You know she won’t be able to take me if you don’t stretch her first mama…” He adds.
“I’m getting to it… let me enjoy her first. You’re so impatient my love. Don’t forget who’s in charge here. I want to make it special.” Robin teasingly scolds her boyfriend as she doesn’t falter in her movements against your clit.
“Mmmm- more please! Wan’ more!” You wanted to feel something inside of you, having been worked up by Robin’s hands.
“Aww what a sweet baby. I can give you more.” Another hand appeared and one slender digit slid into your aching hole.
“Robin!” You gasp out and lean your head back on her shoulder. She slowly dipped her finger in and out of your cunt as you moaned in pleasure. She added another finger and you yelped.
“Have you made yourself cum like this, y/n?”
“Yes- nnghh! But you’re! You’re so much better! Ah!” You breath out as she pulls and taps on your sweet spot with her soft fingers.
“You’re too kind, baby.” Robin smiles down at you on her shoulder. “Daddy is pretty big, sweet girl, so I’m going to have to add another finger, okay?” She has another hand stroking your hair.
“O-okay… Fuck!” Robin adds a third finger into your weeping cunt and bullies them all into your spot. You felt a familiar yet stronger feeling build up in your lower half. You were sighing and moaning as you look towards Franky in the armchair. He had shed his minimal clothing and there was a hand sprouting from the chair and stroking his large cock. You had no idea how that was going to fit inside you, although your mouth watered at the sight of it. It was cut, thick, and gorgeous. Your orgasm was so close.
“I think- I think I’m gonna cum, Robin! I wanna cum!”
“Go ahead and cum, sweetheart, want you to feel so good….” She continues her work on your pussy as you slam your eyes shut in pleasure. You feel your orgasm rip through your body and spill out onto Robin’s hands. You moan out loudly. She slowly pulls out her hand and rubs your cunt comfortingly.
“That was so good, little one! You’re so wet and open, I think you’re ready to take daddy now.” There was a glint of mischief in her voice as she stroked the sides of your arms and kissed your cheek.
“You… you think?” You were hazing coming down from the powerful orgasm that Robin had just given you.
“Mhmm.” Robin kissed you on the forehead. “Come here daddy, lay down.” She nodded towards her cyborg lover.
“Showtime, ladies!” Franky laid down on the bed, as you were sure he had done hundreds of times. “Hop on up, little one!” He beckons you with a large hand. You collect yourself and straddle his huge hips.
“I.. I don’t… I don’t really know what to do, should I-?” You sputter out, your eyes darting from Robin’s and Franky’s.
“Let me help, sweetheart… You ready?” Robin leans forward and grabs Franky’s thick cock and lines it up with your soaking hole. You nod.
Another hand grabs your hip and begins to lower you down onto Franky’s dick.
“Ahh! It’s too much!” You felt the sting of his fat member stretching you out as it entered your virgin cunt.
“It’s okay! It’s okay just take it slow, okay?” Robin was kissing your upper arm as she guided you down further onto the man below you. “I’m right here…”
You mewled and whined as you slowly took Franky inch by inch. Eventually you felt your muscles relax as your body was flush to his. He was fully seated inside you.
“You did it! You did it, y/n! Mommy and daddy are so proud of you! Look how pretty you are with a cock inside you!” Robin gleefully released your hip to tilt your head down to look at where Franky’s dick was balls deep in your little hole.
“Ohhhh pretty girl, you’re so TIGHT!” Franky exclaimed as he grabbed your hips with both hands. “Never felt anything like this!” He praised you as he rubbed loving circles into your pelvis.
“I.. I did it…” You were breathless, never having felt so full in your life.
“Can I fuck her now, mama? Please?” Franky looked up at Robin, pleading to be able to wreck you.
“Yes, daddy, but don’t scare her off now. Be gentle.” Robin captured your lips in a soft kiss to distract you from her boyfriend planting his feet and beginning to thrust upwards into your tight hole.
“OH- Robin! Ah!” You moaned against her lips as your lover began to rut into you from below. It was so big and rubbing against your sweet spot so deliciously.
“I know sweetie, I know. You’re doing so good, taking daddy’s cock so well!” Robin cooed as she pulled back from your lips.
“Come on mama, take your seat. I want both!” Franky panted out as he thrust into your pussy.
Robin giggled as she moved to hover over Franky’s face and sat down on his waiting tongue. Robin sighed as she felt his tongue move against her wet folds. She leaned forward into you and wrapped her arms around your neck as you continued getting speared by Franky’s cock.
“Isn’t this mmhmmm- nice, y/n?” She mewled out as Franky sucked on her clit.
“AH YES!” You shrieked out, feeling your belly begin to tighten again. You felt a hand rubbing your sensitive, engorged clit. You felt two more hands pinching and pulling at your sensitive nipples. You felt two more hands squeezing your ass cheeks in addition to the large metal ones clutching your hips desperately. There was so much stimulation from every direction you could barely take it. Robin captured your lips in a messy kiss.
“Come on girls, I can’t take much more of this!” Franky shouted from underneath you both, he was clearly affected by your tight wetness.
“I want to kiss her for a little, be patient, daddy.” Robin pulled away briefly to scold him playfully. She dives back in to your swollen, wet lips. You grab the back of her head with both hands, the pleasure driving your boldness. The lewd wet slurping of Franky on Robin’s pussy was causing you to clench on the dick inside of you. Robin was keening and moaning into your mouth and you had never seen anything so hot.
“Fuck daddy, I’m going to cum. Want to cum with me, little one?” Robin looks you in the eye and continues her work on your sensitive bits.
“YES! Fuck I’m right there, please daddy!” You shriek out.
“Soak me, cum on me, ‘wanna feel it!” Franky pushes into you as far as he can go and your body spasms and creams all on his robot cock. You scream out in pleasure. Robin moans his name as she, too, finishes all over him. His blue hair was soaked in Robin’s gushy release. Robin kisses you deeply as you both finish your orgasms.
“Let me fill her, please mama, wanna stuff her so bad!” Franky begged his partner from underneath you.
“Of course daddy, anything you want.” Robin moved off his face and pinched his nipples to encourage his finish.
“FUUUUCK-“ Franky groaned loudly as he spilled himself deep inside your no-longer-virgin pussy. You fell forward, burying Franky’s face in your sweaty breasts. You were so dick drunk you couldn’t move.
“Come on little one, let’s get you tucked into bed.” Robin lifted you off Franky’s cock with her strong arms and laid you down under the covers.
“Th-thank you guys…” You whisper out.
“Hey, after that? I’ll let you join me and the lady ANY time!” Franky proceed to tuck both you and Robin into her comforter and head out to finish his repairs for the evening.
“Robin that was… so incredible…” You stroked her jaw as you laid in bed facing each other.
“Well sweetie, if you want to part of our little arrangement, I think we could make it happen…” Robin giggled at you as she raked her fingers through your hair.
“Maybe we can talk about it tomorrow…” And you drifted off to sleep.

In search of freedom (Ch. 5)

5. I've found heaven in hell
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⠀⠀➺ fic masterlist
⠀⠀➺ Chapter 4 ; Chapter 5 ; Chapter 6
⠀⠀⠀⠀She's been searching for freedom her entire life and everytime she thought it was laying right in front of her eyes, she was mistaken. She was running around the East Blue, seeking herself and her dreams, meeting people she never forgot. No matter how much she traveled, she could only catch a glimpse of peace before realizing everything would crumble at her feet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Maybe it was destiny that brought her on that ship with three strangers — foolishly, that's what she tried to believe when the moon shined beautifully and hope settled in her chest, squeezed by the same ribcage where feelings were blooming.
Pairing: female!reader x OPLA Zoro Roronoa
Warnings for this chapter: alcohol, angst, arguing, tension, tarot readings
Word count: 7,9 k
Theme song: fic spotify playlist (click on the link)
A/N: I genuinely hope this chapter is as good as I wanted it to be, but I'm not so sure about it. I tried my best, but I'm certainly proud of the last scene of this chapter. Yes, we finally got to Baratie and Zoro's fight with Mihawk. I'd be very happy to hear your opinions, so let me know what you think <33 Not proofread yet.
The reader is referred to as "Witch" because I have no intentions of using "Y/N".
Tumblr media
One card fell from her tarot deck from the moment when she started shuffling it: Death.
Nope, she immediately thought to herself.
The witch let out a theatrical sigh and let the cards back in their place, half of her mind completely ignoring the meaning.
No way I'm occupying my mind with such trouble now of all times. I couldn't even sleep last night.
She could think about that later, after she gets a few hours of peace. They were lucky enough to escape from the Marines just a while ago. The answer she received after she came back to her room at the first hours in the morning — when she had just finished her night shift — was ambiguous enough. All she wanted was to breathe some fresh air.
The witch got up from the bed and was ready to leave the girls' room while pulling a large shirt over the tight tank top hugging her curves, leaving it unbuttoned. The hot weather made her choose some shorts in favor of the usually large pants she preferred. The low heels of her boots created a strong sound with each step on the Going Merry's floor.
"I still can't believe Luffy was the one to get us at this floating restaurant in the middle of the sea using his nose only," she chuckled at the navigator.
Nami was glancing one last time into a small rounded mirror she held between her fingers before closing it and shoving it into a bag.
"Add food to the equation and he could take over my role."
"Well, well, that's quite exaggerated. He might have an affinity for sniffling foods, but you can feel a thunderstorm. That's a big difference," the witch winked.
"You're flattering me," Nami grinned.
The witch opened the door of their room and they were instantly greeted with the rays of the sun. She squinted her eyes and walked on the deck with two knives and a gun sitting at her hips. Luffy was already on the dock of the restaurant created in the form of fish with an open mouth. Baratie was written in red neon lights on top of the suspended balcony of the restaurant.
"Do you think there are marines here?" Usopp asked as he leaned against the railing of The Going Merry.
"There are skulls on the flags of other ships. If marines are here, they're probably not for business. I wouldn't start yelling about it in the middle of a place filled with pirates," the witch commented.
Any other words died on top of her tongue when her eyes fell on the swordsman who just left the galley. Maybe the witch should've been more careful while staring so insistently, but gosh, wasn't he always a sight? The dark bluet-shirt clinging onto his chest for dear life, accentuating the muscle lines and — god fucking dammit — the jeans squeezing his legs made her gulp. The signature swords were secured against his left hip.
She averted her eyes before she could get caught ogling at the crewmate she grew fond of. It was a pleasure to blame it on the doses of alcohol in her veins, but it wasn't the case that time. She was wide awake and sober, so the nature of her thoughts was worrisome, to say the least.
She was still dealing with the possibility of feelings. A concerning topic for an inexperienced person in the domain of romance.
Another trouble she didn't want to think of. Maybe Zoro isn't that wrong for drinking with every occasion he gets.
What made it worse was the lack of attention he gave her, as if she was just a ghost.
Maybe she was overthinking it.
Truth be told, she wasn't exactly wrong. Zoro did intentionally look away so he could save himself from embarrassment. He turned away before he swallowed the lump in his throat, his fingers curling tighter around the hilt of his sword. He must've gotten insane to start avoiding people.
"Let's go! I feel like I could die from hunger," Luffy jumped from the ship straight on the dock.
The witch found the right thing to focus on: the restaurant looked amazing. Not only did it smell so divine her stomach learnt how to talk, but it was also splendid. For a second, the witch wondered if that was a place for pirates and not for some rich business people — they could certainly be found there. Dozens of tables and the constant chattering of people, waiters and waitresses walking around and rushing from one side to the other — it was so lively.
The fishman greeting the people coming in smiled warmly at them, even if a little strained — a habit he got from his job.
"You mean there's no free table for our captain, the soon to become King of the Pirates?" Usopp smiled proudly, pointing at Luffy.
She found it hard not to laugh or chuckle at the interaction between Luffy and the poor fishman who said twice already that there will be an available table in three weeks. When the witch saw Nami shove her hand in her pockets, it was obvious what tactic she'd use. Obviously, it worked, even if Luffy and Usopp were cheering, walking down the stairs ahead of them.
The witch looked around, wary of any possible threats or drunk people who would get mad about the smallest thing, like the way they looked. Everyone seemed so caught up in their own thing and it eased her mind, some anxiety leaving once her shoulders fell.
However, there were certain gazes following her silhouette. It was probably because of each confident step she made, the elegance she carried, the force she proved to have with every sharp glance she threw around. Her fingers twitched to grab a hold of her dagger. She figured out there were no imminent threats yet.
At the table, she found herself between Zoro and Nami. She was conscious the moment she intentionally sat a tad bit closer to the swordsman who comfortably spread his legs after he tried to fit his swords. Sometimes, when she'd shift in her seat, his knee would brush by hers and goosebumps would erupt on her skin. She allowed herself to enjoy the proximity, the way her gaze would linger on his figure when he talked, the low timbre of his voice soothing her soul.
She had to get used to that idea.
It ached. Her heart would thump painfully in between her ribs each time it felt like he was ignoring her. He didn't say much to her since morning and something inside of her was bleeding, despite the lack of crimson liquid tainting her clothes.
The witch hated him for every cold glance thrown her away or, worse, each time he didn't even look at her when she spoke. To protect herself, her lips got sealed for a long while.
Her attention was piqued by the fight between two marines who seemed unable to swallow up their pride, threatening each other with death, while a beautiful lady sat at the table, looking at them with fear visible on her expression.
The roll of her eyes and the exasperated exhale she let out spoke for her as the witch rested her elbows on the table and held her face with a hand.
"Do people always act like that over stupid things?" Usopp frowned.
"They act worse," the witch scoffed, amused. "The average pirates aren't any better either, you know."
"Bold of you to say that when you're a pirate yourself," Nami shook her head.
"I've never claimed I'm a lady, so," she shrugged.
A waiter with blonde hair dressed in a clean black suit appeared by the men's table. There was a specific customer-friendly smile plastered on his face while he tried to calm the waters.
One of the two men pulled his pistol out just to have his arm being hit by the waiter's feet. In a few seconds only, the other man received the same treatment, getting a strong blow right in the stomach. The blonde waiter rolled on his feet and right after his feet collided with the man's face, he prompted his hands on the table to pin the other pink-haired marine to the floor with a kick in the crown of his head.
"Good fighter," Luffy pointed out with excitement bouncing in his tone.
As if nothing ever happened, the man's fingers grabbed at the plate he abandoned on the table and smiled again.
"No cause for alarm, folks. Please enjoy your meals."
A normal occurrence, most probably.
The waiter came to their table with a few long steps. From up close, his handsome features washed away the obvious forced smile plastered on his thin lips.
"Hi, welcome to our shitty restaurant where the only thing worse than the ambiance is the food. My name is Sanji. What can I get for you?"
His voice was tinted with harshness and he was definitely in a bad mood, visible despite the professionalism he tried to stick to.
Luffy grabbed one of the small loaves of breasla on the plate the waiter just placed down in front of them.
"One of everything, please," their captain spoke with his mouth stuffed.
"What's wrong with the ambiance?" the witch asked, confused. "Not to flatter, but this place is splendid."
Something in that man's head misunderstood it as you're splendid, apparently, since his eyes shone like crystals when they settled on the witch's figure.
Maybe her mouth spoke before she had time to think it over. Bad decision.
"It became splendid the moment you walked in, perhaps," he smiled effortlessly, his voice dropping an octave.
Wait… what?
"Thank you?" she blinked owlishly.
It sounded more like a question. Not the first compliment she received and she also had to admit that most of the men who flirted with her were absolutely gross. This one was decent, even polite — hell, someone could've taken courtesy lessons from him.
The energy shifted. Or, better said, the man next to her shifted. Zoro just crossed his arms over his chest and fixed Sanji with a glare meant to send daggers through his face. The waiter didn't even bother to look at Zoro.
"Is there anything I could bring for these two beautiful ladies?" his smile widened visibly once he spotted Nami right next to the witch. "Would you care for an apéritif to start? Or perhaps some drinks, like one of our signature cocktails? Maybe a glass of Umeshu? You know, something sweet for someone sweet."
His wink was flawless and it would've been perfect if not for Nami's retort.
"Something wrong with your eye?"
Nami was frowning, taken aback by the comment and equally amused.
"Very good question," the witch nodded.
Nami tried her best to stifle a laugh when she realized she was backed up. Usopp was hardly holding back his laughter
"Forgive a man for being blinded by such beautiful ladies," he grinned as if he'd fallen in love not once, but twice in the same minute. "So?"
"Water, please," Nami answered.
"Still, sparkling, mineral? With ice or without? Cubed or crushed?"
"Regular water in a regular glass. Thanks."
"A beer for me."
Zoro's voice was threatening and low, sharp gaze still focused on Sanji.
"A beer for me. I usually have two, but…" Usopp didn't have enough time to continue as he's been interrupted by Luffy.
"A glass of milk for milk for me!" the straw hat said with his mouth still stuffed with bread.
Sanji's head turned towards the witch with a smile curling his lips.
"One of the special cocktails you mentioned, please."
The witch didn't intentionally use that kind voice. It was a habit whenever she talked to strangers to soften her tone and smile out of courtesy and politeness. Probably, her kind gesture has been misunderstood as flirtatious.
"Any preferences? We have plenty of options you can choose from."
His smile already reached his ears and she could feel a specific swordsman straightening his back by her side.
"Nothing too strong, if you may."
"Of course."
"Are you done yet?"
Zoro made all of them turn their attention to him and while usually he wouldn't like it, at that time he couldn't give a single fuck about it. All he did was arch his eyebrow at the waiter and telling him to fuck off as politely as he could, with no cuss words falling from his mouth yet. If Sanji continued to gravitate around their table with that flirtatious smile on his lips, the swordsman might burst a vein on his forehead sooner rather than later.
Sanji wasn't exactly satisfied to be rushed, but he turned on his heels and left. The witch was still looking at Zoro from the corner of her eye, trying her best to understand what just happened.
He seemed fine minutes ago. Not too talkative, definitely, but not… so mad either. What has been with that scowl on his face ever since Sanji appeared? He couldn't be enough of a man child to be jealous of someone's flirting—
I'm getting delusional lately, the witch cut off her own thought process.
"Mad about something, Zoro?" Nami smirked devilishly.
"Everything's fine."
Everything was, in fact, not fine.
The witch was engulfed by her thoughts, fingers pressing and rolling the fork between her fingers after their food was served. She had to admit she was hungry and was trying her best to savor the pieces of meat tickling her taste buds, but it was almost impossible to ignore the shallow sensation in her stomach.
"Was there anything wrong with your tarot?"
Nami, who was by her side, turned her head and offered the witch her entire attention. Maybe she's been playing with her food for long enough to get their attention.
"Not wrong, just something I would've rather not know," she said after swallowing.
"What did you see?"
She shook her head softly with a light chuckle leaving her lips.
"I pulled the Death card." Quickly enough, she realized she shouldn't have started with that.
"Who's dying?!" Usopp almost choked on his food.
"It's metaphorical death," she clarified. "The ending of a cycle and a new beginning, whatever that might mean this time," with a shrug, she proved her own uncertainty.
"Doesn't sound that bad," Zoro commented while he curled his fingers around his glass of beer.
The young woman still remembered each element of the first tarot card she saw before they left The Going Merry. The skeleton dressed in silver armor on the white horse, holding a flag with the number 'XIII' and the people kneeling in front of it, their clothes painted in golden, blue and white.
"It usually implies a hard step to take in order to advance. Change doesn't come unless you allow it and transformation is supposed to help you evolve, not regress. Each time, it doesn't come easily and it shakes up your reality first. Simply put, who the heck knows what might happen in the next few days," she clicked her tongue. "Anything is possible."
"What use do those readings have if you can't even find out what's really going on?" Nami arched her eyebrow.
Fate spoke for itself.
The witch's eyes fixed on hers, regret hanging around her heart.
"They give enough clues, I just have to figure them out."
She felt bad for keeping to herself the other two cards she pulled: the ten of swords and the four of pentacles — betrayal reasoned by protecting yourself. The witch knew who this was about and she didn't mutter a word about it, finding it improper to do so.
"And did you?"
"Not entirely yet," she bit at her bottom lip.
She knew her words were probably just passing by the ears of her friends. The witch was well aware they had no reason to believe in such things or listen to her. They could take her words into account or completely ignore them; it didn't really matter, as for her the reality remained the same.
What mattered was that she knew only half of the upcoming events. The other side was hidden somewhere in shadows and life lessons the cards decided she had to learn on her own.
"I won't need food for a year," Nami commented after she leaned back against the cushions, sighing.
"We should do a toast. Come on, grab your glasses."
The witch's fingers curled around her glass of cocktail with a soft smile.
"To the best crew sailing on the sea and to our victory!"
"No, I'm sorry," Nami furrowed her eyebrows. "What victory exactly?"
The witch didn't even get to bring the glass to her lips, Nami's question sinking deeply into her bones.
"I don't know how many naval battles you guys have been part of…"
"Two dozen, at least," Usopp interrupted her before taking one more sip from his beer.
"Plenty," the witch placed her untouched glass back on the table. "It was a disaster, I'm well aware of it. We could've died before reaching a day of sailing with The Going Merry."
"Then I suppose you agree we were unprepared and uncoordinated," Nami turned towards her.
There's never been such tension lingering around the navigator since the witch got to know her. The orange haired woman was easy going and talkative, she was skilled and was so strong. Someone used to the harsh world they lived in and yet she seemed absolutely stupefied by the mention of said victory.
Nami was tense and uncomfortable as she continued to shift in her seat, surprised wide eyes glaring at Luffy.
"You didn't think to mention your grandfather was a Marine? And not just any marine, a vice-admiral! I don't know about you, but I didn't sign up for that."
"You raided a marine base," Zoro spoke calmly. "Of course that'll make you a target."
The witch only let out a soft sigh and straightened her back with a frown. She was equally worried, but…
"I understand where you're coming from, Nami, but it wouldn't have helped us with anything to know about Luffy's relatives or their status. We're already haunted for merely having a map in our possession."
At their table Sanji appeared again, with a gray plate with a paper in between his fingers this time.
"Your bill, sir."
Luffy pulled his lips together and glanced at Nami before taking the pen and scribbling something.
"Thank you," he smiled up at the waiter.
Sanji took the plate and almost instantly, a mischievous grin splayed on his face.
"No, thank you," and with that, he walked away.
Whatever that was supposed to mean.
Luffy turned towards his friends once again, confident in his opinion.
"I'm not saying it's good that the Marines are on our tail, but we showed them that they can't just roll over us. This crew, our crew, can handle anything."
The witch gently smiled at him and leaned her elbows on the table again.
"We could use your optimism, Luffy, but it's harder than that. At any given time from now on, the simple fact that we're after One Piece is enough of a reason for a Warlord to come after us because right now, we're an easy target. Not to mention the relationship between the Marines and the Warlords. Remember that these seven pirates aren't anyone's toys and if we ever encounter them, it will not always have something to do with the Navy."
"What makes you talk about the Warlords?" the navigator gulped. "They'd be an ever bigger pain in our asses. Average pirates are merciless already—"
Nami stopped herself from talking and looked away. An unusual reaction met with silence from the witch.
"Luffy isn't the only one with relatives—"
"Who the hell is Monkey D. Luffy?" a hoarse voice boomed.
The witch could feel a headache appearing along with the old chef who was hobbling because of his wooden leg. She finally gulped the entire cocktail.
Why was Luffy always getting into trouble?
"I need a drink," Nami exhaustedly threw her head back.
"I need dozens of drinks," the witch sighed heavily.
•┈┈┈•┈┈┈•┈┈┈
Maybe it wasn't a camaraderie thing to do to their captain, but they were now occupying some seats on the terrace of the open fish mouth. The witch was in between Nami and Usopp on the large couch, with their backs facing the sea, meanwhile Zoro sat on a chair, at the other side of the table.
The witch had a whiskey bottle from which she poured herself shots once in a few minutes. Usopp had three straws in his mouth and he drank a sweet cocktail from a bowl. Zoro warned him with a chuckle, but he didn't listen.
Nami, on the other side, was silent as she stared into her empty glass for longer than expected. The witch found it worrisome — she was used to her own phases, but it hurt to watch her friend struggle with something she didn't entirely share. Nami's issue was known by them and yet there was something the witch just grasped onto, a tale told by her tarot.
"The next drink is on me," the navigator got up from her seat.
"Nami," the witch's fingers curled around her friend's.
She squeezed Nami's hand gently and looked up at her with concern in her eyes. The witch rubbed her fingers over her knuckles in a silent plea, her eyebrows knitted together.
You're not alone, her touch said. It's alright. We can make it alright.
Nami swallowed down hard and barely squeezed the hand who held her before slipping away from them.
The witch poured herself a shot and gulped it down quickly.
"Why are you in such a hurry as well?"
Zoro's voice made her chest burn worse than the alcohol.
"I'm not going anywhere. I'd just rather not talk," she mumbled as she rolled the small glass between her fingers.
"You know something that I don't," he concluded quickly.
Usopp, who sat like an obedient child and listened, blinked curiously.
"I know a lot of things that you don't, Zoro," she responded with sorrow.
Saying one single word about Nami while she was gone felt unfair.
When the orange haired woman came back to them with a bottle in her hand, her conversation with Zoro somehow turned into a guessing game. Usopp, who obviously didn't take the swordsman's warning into account, went to the dance ring and moved like a sea slug — or that's what Zoro said.
"Are you in?" Nami asked.
"I'd rather not," the witch lowered her gaze.
It was easy to admit she didn't want to share anything about herself. Still, she knew better than that; with some shots, her tongue would loosen up bit by bit.
Her eyelashes fluttered lazily and her gaze fell on the glass she held. The corners of her mouth were slightly curled downwards and she seemed aware of the effect alcohol would have on her. She will succumb into sorrow or happiness, depending on which one clouded her mind first. The lack of answers coming from someone who adored to share experiences and explain was strange.
Nami looked at her from the corner of her eye and accepted the situation as it was. She'll get the witch to talk one way or another. Something was fishy about her behavior — it was poking Nami's senses.
The witch leaned against the cushions and turned her head towards the sea, pushing reality out of her awareness. Zoro's and Nami's conversation sounded muffled from her perspective, caging herself willingly in her head.
Zoro was sitting right in front of her and the witch still thought of him. Her feelings were confusing and analyzing them was a full time job. Maybe it was time for her to accept her situation and deal with the heart aching for him. It was impossible not to think of him, especially when his deep voice sounded like a melody.
She swallowed a lump in her throat and blinked away the overwhelming sensation settling in her chest. Maybe the present could give her peace.
"You're unfair, Roronoa," she crooked a teasing grin and turned her head towards him.
"How's that so?"
His gaze burning holes into her shouldn't affect her as much as it did. Those black oceans shining shamelessly told her everything she had to know, it made hope bloom in the center of her soul.
Maybe there was a chance. A tiny little chance hidden in his mesmerizing eyes.
"She's telling you entire stories, but you don't even bother to elaborate."
He clenched his jaw and scoffed.
"That's not part of the game," the side of his mouth curled upwards.
"Now that I think about it, she's right," Nami smirked.
"Just drink."
With that, they raised their glasses and both glanced at the unusually silent witch.
"I didn't play the game," she excused herself.
"That's why you have to drink. You listened and didn't share," Nami arched her eyebrow. "Are you also unfair, Witch?"
It was Zoro the one who poured whiskey in her empty glass.
"You two are so sneaky," the witch laughed softly and complied.
The alcohol burnt her throat and it was the alcohol getting to her head that brought questionable curiosities in her head… How would his lips taste? Would he make her burn harder? A one single touch from him would both ruin and put her back together.
Alright, I have to find something else to think of.
Hastily, the witch who sat by Nami's side gulped down another shot of whiskey and got up from the cushions. An idea creeped in her mind when her attention fell on the group of four musicians whose music Usopp danced to.
"Where are you heading to?"
"Killing some time," she winked at Nami.
With light steps, she walked to the guitarist and asked for his instrument after he just finished playing. With a nod, he handed her the guitar and she grabbed a chair to sit on. Her legs crossed and she positioned the guitar in her lap easily, like second nature. Gentle fingers tapped the wooden object and her lips curled — it was perfect — before her grip on the neck of the guitar tightened. Her other hand was busy testing the chords, tingles running down her spine at the sensation.
She hasn't felt that in too long.
The alcohol was also a reason for her bold action, but the witch didn't care. The fingers of one hand pressed against the strings, while she played with the other hand, giving life to the guitar. Lively sounds rang through the air and the other musicians quickly picked up on the notes. A classic, an old shanty pirates would sing when drunk after victories, but it was more beautiful when she played it. Even her humming and the rare times when her lips would part to let sweet words fall from between them, it was alluring.
Zoro's attention never left her figure. Her eyes sparkled with freedom and the smile on her face was that of an angel. She was life itself, stuck under soft skin and hidden in her heart. The dim lights of the terrace — the open fish mouth — bathed her in white and warm gold. Her happy face, the smile lines, the crinkles of her eyes, the jovial energy surrounding her; all of these things charmed him over and over again. The longer he looked at her, the worse it got, because he didn't have the courage within himself to avert his gaze from her.
"You should just admit it," Nami said.
He didn't look at her when he let out a low "Hm?"
"Don't you think she's pretty?"
His head snapped towards her.
"What are you talking about?"
"Which one of us are you trying to fool, Zorol; me or yourself?"
Uncomfortably, the swordsman shifted in his seat, clenching his jaw.
"I think you're confused," he responded  with fake confidence while he crossed his arms over his chest.
"No, you are confused," Nami scoffed. "You were jealous back then, when Sanji flirted with her."
"You're quick to jump to conclusions."
"If Usopp would be here, he'd agree."
"Unfortunately, he's too drunk to even walk straight, so I suppose he isn't here to support your theory."
"Speaking of him."
Nami just spotted Usopp who came back to their table with a man behind him. A strange man, judging by the hilt of the sword as tall as him — and he wasn't short by any means either.
"Which one of you is Monkey D. Luffy?"
Zoro turned his head lazily, arching his eyebrow.
"I don't recall such a name."
The witch's peace has been entirely destroyed by the new appearance, an unwelcome guest. She could spot him easily because of his big elegant hat with feathers and the sword with precious stones on the hilt.
It was her turn to stand proudly in front of a Warlord she's only heard about from her deceased father. Her back was straight and her chin up high, gaze sharp.
When the man turned his head to her, there was no mistake it was Dracule Mihawk, his golden irises shining with boredom. Even his perfect posture betrayed the obvious superiority he had in front of some mere children.
"I didn't know your father had raised a liar. He was honest, from what I recall."
The witch knew she was her father's splitting image, but how could he know—
The only thing that stopped her eyes from widening in surprise were the nails digging painfully into her palms.
"I don't know any Monkey D. Luffy and I certainly have no clue what you're talking about."
"I have business with your captain. If you know what's good for you, you'll hand him over."
"I don't know either," Nami responded from her seat. "Right, Zoro?"
"You're Dracule Mihawk."
The swordsman got up from his chair and for a moment, the witch wondered if he was insane or more delusional than her, because there's no other way he stood without a worry in the world in front of him.
In front of someone who could slice entire ships into pieces.
"Zoro?" the witch whispered, horrified.
The man in question stepped by Mihawk and walked slowly, steadily, as if the Warlord was his prey.
"It pains me to inform you that tomorrow… you're going to die."
Oh, Gods, please don't.
•┈┈┈•┈┈┈•┈┈┈
The witch was left speechless. She couldn't find strength in her legs and she had to sit on a chair when all of them gathered in the valley of their ship.
Zoro wasn't a sane man. He needed to be locked up or someone had to get that stick from up his ass before he had a chance to die out of stupidity.
She shook her head countless times while Zoro and Nami argued, rubbing her forehead with her fingertips and squeezing her eyes shut.
"Why do you even care?" the swordsman's cold tone rang in the air.
"Because you're my friend, you idiot."
Nami sounded close to losing it all.
The witch already lost it one hundred times. Her heart wasn't beating, her breath was shallow and she was pinching the bridge of her nose to hold back from saying or doing something rude, something she would later regret. The tension in the room weighed on her chest and she wished it was all just a nightmare.
"You said you don't have any friends," Zoro responded sharply.
The woman's eyes snapped open. He was more insane than she thought. She wanted to yell, but no raw sound filled with pain left her chapped lips. The witch could only remain rigid while Nami left the room with loud stomps.
"You're insane, Zoro," she muttered between gritted teeth.
The witch was tugging painfully at her own strands of her in order to stop the overwhelming feelings from spilling out of her like a tornado. Her shaking fingers curled into her hair and gripped, the burn on her scalp bringing her back to the cabin of their ship.
"This is a suicide mission."
"It's his dream," Luffy smiled, "we can't—"
"Zoro, you're gonna die!" she shouted out of the sudden after she snapped her head towards the swordsman.
She sank her nails into her palms until the sting was painful enough to keep herself stable. It was not to her liking to be pessimistic, to admit that someone wasn't able to do something, but what he wanted to do was not the most intelligent idea.
"This isn't good, this won't end well at all and you shall know it," the witch continued. "You can't seriously believe you'll get out of there better than half-alive."
The swordsman didn't need to respond in order to answer. His unmoving gaze and straightened back told enough: he wasn't going to change his mind at all, no matter what anyone said.
She knew it meant a lot for him to become the strongest swordsman in the world, but in his current state he wasn't able to defeat Mihawk. Out of all the people he could've dwelt with, Zoro chose him, that monster of a man.
"Did you not listen to me when I said 'He cuts entire ships with a mere flick of his wrist'?" she furrowed her eyebrows. "Did you suddenly forget when I clearly warned you all the warlords aren't some mere toys for the big guys in the system, they do whatever the fuck they want!"
She cussed herself for letting out so many emotions, but she seriously couldn't hold back anymore, no matter how worried Usopp seemed, or how confused Luffy was. They had no clue what Zoro was getting into—
"That's exactly why I'm dwelling with him and not someone else," the green-haired man spoke firmly.
"Oh, so your dream is to get cut in half by a sword taller than you?" her irritation slipped.
"Do you really think I trained my entire life to get cut without putting up a fight?"
Even if she didn't want to admit it to herself, one side of his heart was hurt. This entire time, every time they spoke, she openly told him she believes in him, that she trusts him even if it would be her downfall. It sounded like she's been lying this entire time.
"You know very well I never meant that you're weak, but you're not stronger than him! That's your idea of a swordsman? You can believe, you can even hope for the best to happen, but the happiest situation would be a quick death. And the worst? A torturous one."
"I didn't take you for someone who wouldn't understand what the pride of dying in a duel means."
"Fucking hell!"
The witch's tight fist hit the table placed in the middle of the cabin with a quick and hurried motion, her feelings indeed getting the best of her that time. It didn't come to mind the last time she ever acted so harshly.
He turned her words against herself and he was a professional at doing so. She knew what kind of pride swordsmen and pirates carry, she knew what they considered noble because she's spent years of her life listening to men and women talking about such things. Her father did the same, thought he could get out of any problem, until it brought him his death.
"Maybe you should have more faith," Usopp intervened in a small voice.
He was hesitant, the surprise obvious on his face — none of them expected that their most collected crewmate would lash out like that. Luffy was also silent, confused, obviously trying to find a way to get into the thick heads of his friends somehow. The argument escalated quickly and the tension wiped away any ounce of peace.
The witch's eyes were fixed on Zoro's and they burnt holes through his face. He's seen just as many emotions a night ago, when she told him about her past sailing experiences, about the life she left behind as she desperately tried to find freedom. And if freedom felt like that, he wondered if she really wanted it. He succumbed to the flames of hell in her eyes, but snapped himself out of it.
She was angry at him, he figured out quickly.
He didn't like that gaze. He'd do almost anything for her to stop looking at him that way, as if she wanted him away from her, as if his very presence brought her suffering. Almost anything.
"You see just what you want to see, Zoro. You're deliberately ignoring our worries, thinking we have something against you, thinking god-knows-what about how we're not your friends or whatever the fuck's going through your head—"
I'm worried for you, she swallowed a lump in her throat.
"Just because me and Nami are trying to stop you, it doesn't mean we're assholes keeping you away from your dream. We might be assholes, but we want you to be alive, not six feet under the ground!" her voice raised slightly at the end again, her breath shallow.
"You're worried about her, not about me. I don't need your worry."
"Zoro—" this time Luffy tried to intervene.
"You're impossible," she faintly spoke, like a ghost.
She gave up.
She buried her face into her own palms and sat on a chair, her elbows prompted on her knees. She had so much faith in Zoro, she could barely even point out how many feelings swirl in her heart when it comes to him, but she was aware he was mortal. He could die at any given time.
"Right, Zoro. Go die with pride filling you up the same way that man's sword will," she bitterly mumbled.
I hate you, Roronoa Zoro. You and your stupid pride, along with the fucked way I feel about you. I hate it all.
The poor woman was exhausted, her heartstrings twisting into knots, making it hard to ignore the pain running through her entire being. His name rolled on her tongue so many times in only a few minutes and it made her situation worse, that one word made of two syllables cutting through her chest.
The witch regretted her words immediately, but didn't say anything for a while.
Usopp nudged Luffy into leaving the other two alone and it was probably one of the few times when the straw hat understood subtleties without any questions.
"Take your time and clean your swords, Zoro, we'll be waiting outside," Luffy spoke.
The witch heard two pairs of steps that walked away, her face still buried in her palms. She gulped and took in a few deep breaths before she moved from her seat, straightening her back and moving to the window of the cabin, hands gripping at the edge of the wood.
She didn't throw a glance at Zoro. Silence stretched between them while the witch focused on the stars shining in the night sky.
I shouldn't have been here in the first place, she thought to herself, twisting the blade deeper into the wound. I shouldn't have accepted to come with you. I should've stayed in Syrup Village and left with another ship, to go somewhere far away from you. I should've known better that there's no way in hell I can grasp at the mere notion of freedom.
There's no place for me in heaven and there's no place for me in hell either. I'm stuck here, in this body, with these feelings and this swordsman in this galley.
I should've known. I should've known I was damned to die on my feet, with a bleeding heart and my back turned at you. I should've—
She gulped down harshly, blinking away the tears.
I want to stay with you all so badly.
"Zoro," she whispered his name again.
Tears stung in her eyes at the sound of his name. It felt like it was the last time she could hear his name repeatedly, the same name carved with silver on her heart.
"Be careful," she continued, her voice faint.
"Why do you care?" his bitter tone resounded in her eardrums. "Everyone seems deadly interested in my actions lately."
Only then she turned her head towards him and her ribcage protested when the prisoner that was her heart beat so harshly.
"I don't need a reason. I simply do. Please, Zoro."
Like the idiot that she was, she begged him to stay alive. A confession was hidden between her chapped lips — she picked at them with her nails and there was blood surfacing on top of the skin. Her tongue swiped over her bottom lip, the metallic flavor tickling her taste buds.
Judging on the way his jaw ticked with tension, he grasped onto enough of her words. Or maybe he refused to do so — who knows?
"Don't throw your life away. You'll never fulfill your promise if you die today. Be mindful. Don't rush when fighting, don't get angry if he pushes on your buttons and irritates you. Be wise, Zoro."
It was a lost fight on her side. There was nothing she could do to stop him, so at least she had to give him the best advice she thought of.
When he finally looked at her, her breath hitched. His brown eyes saw through her soul and she wondered if he could also feel how much she cared for him, the way she cared for him. She liked everyone on the ship equally, but her affection for him took a different path, one she's never walked on before.
He didn't say a word, letting everything sink in.
Maybe there is a chance he gets what I meant.
"Be careful."
This time, her voice trembled but she didn't look away. She stood there, staring at him as if it was the last time she saw his eyes open.
She turned towards the window again, nails digging into the wooden frame. She refused to look at him when she figured out tears could spill over her cheeks like a river if he continued staring at her, burying himself further into her soul. She only wanted him to be safe, because nothing was greater than that. If all of them could be kept away from harm's way, she would have days filled with peace.
Too bad such a thing was impossible in that unforgiving world.
Behind her, Zoro moved around and left the galley. After a few minutes, he came back with a bottle of oil for his swords. He dragged a chair and sat down at the table, more silent than usually. With utmost care, he took one of his black swords and unsheathed it, leaving the scabbard on the table. He poured some oil on the blade and used a piece of cloth to spread it even from tip to hilt.
The witch only dared to throw glances with an aching heart. She couldn't bring herself to leave, to stay away from him for too long now more than ever. She swallowed hard before making a tough decision.
Wordlessly, she moved from the window. Her heavy steps echoed in the room until they stopped right by Zoro's side.
"Can I help?"
Calm, just like she always tries to be, she spoke with fear clinging to every nerve in her body. She would blame herself for the rest of her life if they would part ways like that. More than her fears and worries, he mattered. He deserved all the pain she was capable of harboring inside her poor heart, he was worth the fight with her own self.
The swordsman didn't expect her gesture. He supposed she would storm out of the room, that she would scold him or try to stop him, just like before. He guessed she was more sane than him, even if he couldn't bring himself to care enough about that. Her reaction pained him in ways he couldn't explain.
His fingers pressed the piece of cloth against the blade of his words. He thought of being petty, shutting her down. Why couldn't she believe in him more? Was he that weak?
He nodded. Like the stupid man that he was, with no need for spoken words, he accepted her help. He watched her blank face, devoid of any life, as she took another sword from the table, following his exact steps.
Except, her hold on the white sword was gentle like a feather. A careful grip, so it wouldn't slip from her hand, but gentle nonetheless. He stopped whatever he was doing, focusing on the woman who rested her hips against the table, close to him, so close, but, oh, so far away. Zoro watched her unsheathe his Wado Ichimoji and place it on the table. Her hand reached out for the bottle of oil and her other one took advantage of the opportunity, taking the piece of cloth from his own hold.
Their fingers touched. Hers were cold, but they still burnt his skin. Electric shocks traveled through his body and his chest tightened.
She poured some oil on the material and then left the bottle on the table, gripping at the hilt of the sword again. She moved the piece of cloth over the blade carefully, as if she's done it before countless times. Left, right, left, right. Everytime she exhaled, her breath was trembling, despite the slow pace of her gestures.
He paid more attention to the hands holding his sword: they were shaking when she placed the sword on the table. She poured some more oil on the cloth and dipped the tip of her index finger in the same spot. With the same finger, she drew on the blade a symbol Zoro didn't recognize.
With each stroke of her fingertip, she traced lines and connected them in a barely visible symbol: an arrow pointed upwards.
"It's a rune meant for protection," she explained softly as she sheathed the sword. "It's associated with strength and honor. It doesn't matter if you don't believe in it, because I do and that's enough."
It was true: he didn't believe in such things and never did. The swordsman never found it reasonable nor did he ever try to figure it out. It didn't mean he denied her beliefs — no, but he was indifferent towards it.
However, he couldn't act indifferent towards the witch, which he found at that point to be straight up painful. It was painful to look at her and see torment in her deep eyes, it hurt to see sorrow painted on her angelic features when none of them was dead.
The witch did the same gesture with the other two swords, carefully holding each one of them, as if they were her own treasures, not his.
"Come back alive," she whispered.
If he wouldn't have been so close to her, her voice would've sounded like a breath.
"That's all I ask of you. If you wish so, then no sword will cut through you. Blades can cut steel, but nothing can cut will."
What was she mourning when she said those things? Who did she think of? he wondered.
May the gods protect you tomorrow, she hoped. They've taken so many away from me along the way.

Royal Blue
A gen Sanji fic, around 6K words. also on ao3, here
“Hey, guys? The News Coo just dropped off a letter with the paper, but I think it was a mistake. It’s not addressed to any of us.”
“Who’s it addressed to?” Robin asks.
“Vinsmoke.” Nami says simply, and Sanji actually staggers in his place on the deck.
-----
Five times Sanji’s secret past as a Vinsmoke almost got revealed to the crew, and one time he can’t help but tell them.
AKA I love dramatic character revelations and I’m bitter not everyone was there to react to Whole Cake Island.
Disclaimer- I’ve never actually written for an active fandom before, nor have I finished reading/watching One Piece. Please forgive any blatant errors. I’m currently in the middle of Water 7 and I skip around a lot. 90% of my knowledge comes from secondary sources.
pls enjoy!
The first time it happened, it was less of a danger to his cover, and more a painful reminder that he had anything to hide at all.
After all, he’d left that history behind him so long ago that by now, more than 10 years later, he was sure he wouldn’t ever have to reveal that history. Hell, not even Zeff knew. As far as he was concerned, Sanji was just an orphan boy who’d ended up in that unlucky cruise ship kitchen, and he didn’t need to know how he’d gotten there.
So when they’d all been traveling through the Alabasta desert, Luffy and Nami and Vivi and all the rest of the crew, Sanji hadn’t been thinking about it much at all. When they’d found out Vivi was a princess, well, it had put a little ping into his mind. That little, “You’re technically a prince, too, remember?” But he had quickly squashed it. Not anymore, and never again, so he didn’t need to dwell on the commonality between them.
That was, until weeks later, during that boundless desert trip, when they’d all been sitting around the campfire, resting up for the night on the cool desert sand. It was so much more pleasant than the heat that’d been oppressive over their heads all day. Everyone was chatting, idly enjoying the soup he’d made for everyone. Luffy had downed two bowls of it, and was now snoozing with his hat over his head to the right of them all. Zoro seemed to have a similar idea, though it wasn’t clear if he was actually asleep, or just leaning back with his eyes closed in his usual introverted manner.
Nami and Vivi were sharing stories over the meal, shawls pulled over their shoulders, and Usopp and Chopper were messing around beside them, occasionally joining the conversation to interject one of Usopp’s grand adventures or Chopper’s impressed gasps.
He decided to stroll over to the two women, now with his own bowl carefully balanced in his hand. The chef always ate last, after all.
“Hello, Vivi my sweet! And Nami, my swan! How is the soup?” He asked, practically floating through the air to slide in beside them both. Usopp silently rolled his eyes.
Vivi just smiled, answering for both of them. “It’s delicious, Sanji! Thank you for making dinner again.”
“Why of course! It’s my job as the chef, after all!” He sang, still balancing the soup in his hands that he has yet to even touch, now distracted.
Then, he continued, “You know, this recipe is sometimes called ‘Marry Me Soup.’ They say it’s so good that it’ll convince you to marry the chef.” He said, wiggling his already swirling eyebrow.
Vivi just giggled. “I’m flattered, Sanji, but I don’t think my father would appreciate me getting married right now. Besides, I’ve always been told I’m expected to marry a prince.” She didn’t seem particularly happy about this, nor did she seem very enthusiastic about marriage, period- but Sanji still deflated at the undercut of a rejection. For multiple reasons.
The hopeless flirt within him almost blurted out, ‘Well, it’s your lucky day then, Princess Vivi!’
Except it didn’t, at all, because even for Vivi’s hand in marriage he wouldn’t let that secret slip.
Instead, he just clamped his jaw shut, sat down beside them, and took a sad sip of his soup. Usopp and Chopper laughed, unaware of the true reason for his melancholy. Nami reassured Vivi he’d be fine after she momentarily worried she’d offended him, before scooching closer to inquire further if she really had to marry a prince someday, against her will. They began chatting again, Nami looking fiercely protective all of a sudden.
Sanji only had a couple more spoonfuls before he stood, silently, and walked off a few feet away from the group for a smoke.
A certain green-haired swordsman poked an eye open to glance over at him as he walked by.
That was odd. Sanji didn’t usually smoke while people were still eating. Especially the ladies. It was inconsiderate, he said, cigarette smoke wafting into people’s faces while they tried to eat, tainting the taste with the smell of nicotine.
But there he was, huffing away at the cigarette a bit too fast, in Zoro’s opinion. Then again, he didn’t really know anything about smoking. Nor did he care. He shrugged, shut his eye again, and went back to resting.
Now that Sanji thought about it, looking back, maybe it’d been on his mind more than he thought. After all, why else had he used the codename “Mr. Prince” while he impersonated Mr. 3?
“Liar Noland?”
“You know it, Sanji?” Nami asks, peering at this book that she’s never heard of. “But it says it was published in the North Blue.”
“I was born in the North Blue.” He says, and actually smiles, wide and true. His memories of back then are anything but good, but…
“Didn’t I tell you?” He tries to play off, though he knows he’s done no such thing. “It’s where I grew up.”
“No, I thought you were from the East like the rest of us.” She muses, and Usopp agrees.
Sanji continues. And a smile comes to his face again, for the same reason. “My mom used to read me that book when I was a kid.”
For a moment Nami and Usopp both think this is the first Sanji’s told them much of anything about his childhood- they know he had a pretty rough going when he met Zeff, but that’s about it. They’re too focused on the task at hand, though.
Nami opens it and begins to read, the rest of the conversation forgotten.
The seven of them stood around the ancient stone door as if peering at it would do anything.
“WHY WON’T THIS STUPID DOOR OPEN!?” Luffy yelled eventually, stomping his feet with impatience.
Robin stepped forward, looking closer at the intricate carvings of winged creatures and giant serpents. Most compelling was the small bowl that seemed to be carved into the center, right below a sharpened bit of rock in the enclave.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before…” She said, hand to her chin in thought. Unlike Luffy, she wasn’t upset, only engulfed in academic curiosity. She stepped back then, walking away to inspect the other parts of the carvings, further down the wall.
“Can’t we just break it down?” Zoro asked, poking at the old stone with little regard for its value. Nami frowned at him, slapping his hand away.
Robin didn’t waste any emotion at his comment, still looking at the newfound bit of text she’d found behind some ivy.
“This stuff is ancient, you idiot! It’s irreplaceable!” Nami growled, scowling as Zoro narrowed his eyes back at her. For a moment, Robin felt a bit of appreciation for the navigator. She was definitely the most levelheaded of this group so far.
“It could be booby-trapped! Besides, it’s probably worth a ton of Berry.” She said, eye’s suddenly aglow with a mischievous shine.
Nevermind, Robin thought with a sigh.
Sanji, Usopp, and Chopper stood back with little to contribute. Usopp seemed to be trying to think of a way to get them over the impossibly tall wall, while Chopper distracted Luffy with the sighting of a big beetle.
Sanji just stood there, a lit cigarette lazily lilting smoke between his teeth. They’d probably figure it out between Usopp, Robin, and Nami. Meanwhile, he could continue to plan out what to make for the rest of the week with the meager rations of fruit and meat they’d gathered.
That was, until Robin finally stood, hand still on her chin but a look of accomplishment dancing on her features.
“Here. It says that to open the door, we must provide a drop of royal blood.” She explained, pointing to the ancient language inscribed on the ivy-covered wall.
Everyone rose their eyebrows at that, including (and especially) Sanji.
“Royal blood?” Usopp asked, confused. “Like a king or something?”
“Aw, man!” Luffy cried. “If only Vivi was still with us!”
“That doesn’t make any damn sense.” Zoro said. “How does the wall know whether the blood is royal or not?”
Robin shrugged. She was an archaeologist, not a scientist. “Who knows.” She said simply.
“I’ll just try it.” Luffy said, rolling up his sleeves and stomping over to the little enclave that held the bowl and the piercing rock.
“Wait!!” Chopper yelled. “You can’t just go stabbing yourself with ancient rocks! Especially ones that have already had other people’s blood on it!” He cried, now trying to pull Luffy away from the wall. He continued to drone on about bacteria and blood-borne diseases as Sanji began sucking a little harder on his cigarette.
Honestly, he didn’t really see the need to get into the old temple anyway. He was starting to think they should just leave. For completely unselfish reasons.
“For once, I agree with the marimo. Let’s just break the damn thing open.” He said, stretching his leg.
“No, damnit!” Nami said, stomping over to him. “You could set off a trap!”
He frowned at that, putting his leg down obediently.
Usopp was next to Robin now, looking between the inscription she’d found and the spot where Chopper was still frantically pulling Luffy away from. “I don’t get it.” He decided finally. “Besides, what do they mean by ‘royal blood,’ exactly? Will any royal blood work, or only the royal blood of whoever ruled this nation?”
Robin found it to be a very good question coming from the teen. She nodded in agreement. “True. The inscription doesn’t clarify.”
As soon as Usopp said it, he began to wonder the same thing. And it made him more nervous. His poor cigarette was almost spent now.
Would his blood work? If it did, would they suspect anything? Should he put it in now, and claim the door was just stupid, like Zoro had claimed earlier? If so, he’d better do it before Luffy, in case the rubber man’s didn’t work-
“HAHA!” Luffy exclaimed, finally pricking the tip of a rubbery outstretched finger on the rock. Chopper deflated in resignation, now joining the rest of them in peering at the bowl as Luffy’s blood fell into it.
The drop of blood fell into the bowl, sat momentarily on the bottom, then was suddenly absorbed by the porous stone as if it was dying of thirst. Everyone looked on in various states of amazement and fear as they waited, one second, two seconds, three seconds, five, ten-
“...I don’t think it’s doing anything.” Nami finally grumbled.
“Well, the good news is, it doesn’t look like it set off any traps.” Replied Usopp, looking around anxiously for any sign of movement in the jungle around them.
Robin was peering at the bowl with curious blue eyes. “Intriguing…”
“Aw, man!” Luffy huffed. He turned suddenly to Usopp. “Usopp, you try.”
“WHAAA? WHY ME?”
“You like Kaya. And Kaya’s kinda royalty. That’s close enough, right?”
“KAYA ISN’T A PRINCESS, LUFFY! SHE’S JUST RICH! AND I’M NOT EVEN HER! THAT’S TOO MUCH OF A STRETCH.” Usopp yelled in frustration.
Zoro, Chopper, and Nami were various degrees of frustrated and fed up listening to the two of them bicker. Sanji was still anxiously tapping his foot, hoping the captain wouldn’t systematically make them all try. And if he did, hoping that his didn’t do shit.
That is, until they heard the familiar call of Marines from up the path behind them.
Sanji turned, eyes wide with panic. “Shit-” He said, lighting another cigarette.
“Marines? All the way up here? How?” Someone said. Sanji wasn’t even paying attention anymore.
“HURRY USOPP! C’MON, GO!”
“NO, LUFFY! MINE WON’T BE ANY DIFFERENT!”
Zoro started unsheathing Wado, ready for a fight, though even he seemed to realize that that was far too many Marines and they were far too close to be able to run.
As the group devolved into arguing, panic, and frantic attempts to prepare for a fight, Sanji looked back one last time at that stupid door and its stupid little blood-sacrifice bowl.
The Marines were visible now, charging from the bottom of the hill and quickly approaching- the path they’d used to get here- the only path out- now blocked.
Sanji cursed, pushing through the mess of the crew and jabbing his thumb onto the rock.
The group went quiet as the giant stone doors began to shake, then pulled slowly open into a dark, but open, temple.
They all looked in surprise to Sanji, who bit down on his cigarette and began running through the opening.
“C’mon, idiots! The Marines are right behind us!”
The group took one look back and followed, sighing in relief as the giant stone doors began to pull shut again just as they’d all made it through.
Everyone was still running, unsure if the Marines would be able to power through, though Luffy had bound up beside him to ask,
“WOOOAH, SANJI! ARE YOU ROYALTY OR SOMETHING?”
“No, idiot. The door’s just stupid. It probably just didn’t work for you ‘cause your blood’s all rubbery and shit.”
Luffy frowned at that, though he seemed satisfied with that answer.
Sanji didn’t turn around after that, but by the feeling of several pairs of eyes boring into the back of his head, he got the feeling the rest of the crew wasn’t quite as convinced.
Luckily for him, (and quite unluckily for everyone else), the temple was indeed filled with booby-traps. No one had any time to ask him why the hell his blood had worked because they’d spent the next hour or so of their lives trying not to die.
When they finally made it out the other side, sweaty and beat-up and a few crewmates still a little bit on fire, it was the last thing on everyone’s minds. Especially considering the map they’d found as spoils for their trouble.
Later that night, though, when they’d made it back to the Going Merry and everyone had feasted on grilled pork and pineapple and rice, Zoro stayed behind after dinner, arms crossed and leaning broodily against the doorframe, all despite the drinking that was now taking place out on the deck.
“What do you want, Marimo?” Sanji spit, though he had a feeling he might already know what it was.
“Why did your blood open up that door?”
“Like I said, I don’t think that hunk of rock can actually differentiate between royal blood and not. We just got lucky.”
“Luffy’s blood didn’t work.”
“Yea, and like I said, it’s probably because his blood’s all fucked up and made of rubber.” Sanji bit back, emphasizing the fact that he’d already explained this.
“He’s still human. And I’m pretty sure I heard the Marines trying to prick themselves on it too after we got through.”
Sanji shrugged. “I guess I got some royalty in my family line somewhere, then. Like I said, lucky for us.”
Zoro glared at him. ‘Like I said, like I said.’ It was suspicious.
“Whatever, shit-cook.” He finally replied, shoving off the wall and heading back out to deck to join the party.
Sanji bitterly lit another cigarette.
“Newspaper’s here!” Someone calls from the front deck of the Sunny. Sanji’s already walking around with a tray of drinks, currently stopped at Zoro, who takes it without much of a thank you aside from a glance.
He rolls his eyes and moves on, wanting to take a peek at the paper anyway. Nami has it at the moment, so he heads over, even though he’s already given her her drink- first, as always.
“Anything interesting, Nami?” He asks, forgoing the swan~ that got him an eyeroll earlier. He’s also just genuinely curious, which has him distracted just enough to act normal around women.
She skims it and frowns. “Nah, not much. Unless you consider Buggy interesting news.” She says, throwing the stack of parchment to the nearby table without a care. She takes her drink and leaves, presumably to go work at her desk.
Sanji does not find Buggy the Clown to be worthy of his attention, but the damn weirdo happens to pop up way more than he or any of the crew seems to think reasonable.
Regardless, he takes a peek at the newspaper anyway, since he’s already there. Nami’s right, nothing’s of interest- save for the stupid comic strip they’ve included on the last page.
Sora, Warrior of the Sea.
Sanji frowns, his face twisting up into the kind of gangster-like grimace he reserves for Zoro when he’s most exceptionally pissed him off.
He’s not nearly as bothered about it as he should be, but the comic is included in almost every issue of the paper they’ve received since they hit the Grand Line. The first time he’d spotted the Vinsmoke name he’d nearly had a stroke, but apparently, the few crew members who actually read that bit of the paper seemed convinced it was all fictional, the villainous Germa 66 army included.
Sanji was quite fine with leaving it that way.
It’s just a shitty attempt at Marine propaganda, and the fact his family’s been written in as villains as if they aren’t a real royal family kinda does make him laugh. They’ve become so synonymous with evil that they’re written as cartoon villains by the same news company that works with them in the crime underworld. Sanji’s surprised they don’t see it as a slap in the face- maybe they do, but the strips continue to come out unchanged.
On the best days he laughs acridly at the insult it does his biological father, on the worst he bites his lip in anger that he and his crew have to be exposed to their existence.
Though…
He reads the title over again.
Even if it’s just some bullshit marine propaganda, the way they’ve named the main character who beats the evil Germa family again and again brings a small grin to his lips.
All in all, the various times his past had almost come out had been relatively easy to cover up.
The closest call, however, had been when they’d landed on an unsuspecting Spring island, a little too close to the North Blue for his liking.
Franky had stayed behind to work on the ship, but the rest of them had gone ahead and went inland to restock supplies, stretch their legs, and find what this island had to offer.
And for once, they'd decided to stick together instead of splitting up. Mainly because some signs around town had said something about a big festival taking place in the square, and Nami, Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper had convinced the last few less sociable crewmates to come along.
Despite the proximity to North Blue, Sanji wasn't actually that worried. He'd never heard of this island before, and he doubted his father would be anywhere near it either. Germa may be a wandering country, but it hadn't left the North Blue in a while as far as he knew, and at the moment they were still in the Grand Line.
So when they all walked up the brick path to the town square, finding before them a wonderful spread of tents, stages, and food stalls, he actually found himself a little excited. Good food, good entertainment, and- he squinted his eyes at the closest stage, where a group of women in traditional garb were performing a folk dance.
Beautiful women? Hell yea, maybe this pit stop would be worth it after all.
“Wow, this looks amazing!” Nami cried, clapping her hands together. “I wonder what it’s all for?”
Usopp jutted a hand over his shoulder. “I think one of the signs we passed said it’s somebody’s birthday. Probably one of the kingdom’s rulers, if I had to guess.”
“Usopp, look!” Chopper interjected, pulling lightly on the leg of the sharpshooter’s pants. “They have cotton candy!”
“Cotton Candy!?” Luffy grinned, patting his hat. He ran off like a cartoon character, leaving a trail of smoke and guffaws of laughter behind him. Usopp and Chopper followed behind.
“Wait! You guys don’t have any money!” Nami said, jogging after them with her Berry pouch already half-opened to loan some out (with interest).
Eventually, she’d caught them, and handed out a bit of Berry to the rest of the crew, too. She sent Zoro back to the ship to grab Franky, both so he wouldn’t miss out and so that Zoro wouldn’t get lost on his own. (If he could even make it back to the ship, anyway).
Then she and Robin began making rounds to all the shops and stalls while they waited, leaving Sanji to do whatever he liked by his lonesome.
And he had absolutely no problem with that.
Obviously, he went straight over to the dancers, making obnoxious heart-eyes in the audience while he watched.
Soon enough, though, he calmed down and ended up wandering the food stalls, trading recipes with the vendors and even picking up some local produce from others.
He'd spent nearly an hour doing so, occasionally running into another Strawhat or two, when a man stopped him near one of the textile stalls.
Sanji had been about to head back to the ship, looking over one last fancy gourd with a scrutable eye, when someone called out his name. Well, a name.
"Young Master Vinsmoke?"
Sanji felt his blood run cold. He snapped his head up, his eyes meeting a man he didn't recognize.
He looked friendly enough- actually, he looked quite pleased to see him. He was posed nervously, as if he couldn't believe what was before him.
Now that Sanji thought about it, he did look somewhat familiar- the frilly outfit and the pins, bobs, and needles stuck into his pin-cushion bottoms. Some measuring tape hung loosely from a pack on his side, and bifocal glasses sat atop his head.
Not familiar enough, though. And Sanji didn't care who the hell he was, not after calling him that.
"Are you talking to me?" Sanji asked, cold anger already growing, though at the moment he was trying to keep his cool.
The man shook his head in amazement. "It is you, isn't it? Young Master Sanji? Why, they told me you'd died!"
Sanji just gaped at him, his latest cigarette falling gracelessly out of his mouth.
He suddenly grabbed the man by the collar of his shirt and dragged the two of them behind the nearest stall, to an unoccupied alleyway nearby. The man squeaked in surprise, which Sanji ignored.
"Who the hell are you?" He gritted out, suddenly realizing his friends could be nearby. He prayed nobody had heard them. After last time, there'd be no way he'd be able to sweep it under the rug again.
"O-Oh, you don't remember me! My apologies, sir. I'm Taloose. I work as a royal tailor. I worked for your family when you were young, Mr. Vinsmoke.”
“STOP CALLING ME THAT.” Sanji growled, resisting the urge to pull the man up by the lapels of his frilly suit. He knew the other man didn’t know any better, but it still pissed him off.
Taloose squeaked again. “I’m sorry, sir!”
Sanji let out an irritated breath. “And stop calling me sir.” He grumbled, though with considerably less bite.
“I don’t answer to that name anymore, and I’m not a prince either. So just Sanji is fine.”
The tailor seemed hesitant to comply, but he nodded, silently.
There was a long and uncomfortable silence then. Sanji did recognize him, now that he thought about it. He barely saw the guy- maybe every couple months when he was really young, coming in to fix up little suits for special events for him and his siblings. At that age Sanji was still quite friendly, despite the abuse, but he didn’t form close bonds with the various workers at the beck and call of the Vinsmokes. If anything, he was too focused on his mother’s health and his failings in training. Any memories of this guy were quick snippets and stills of standing on a platform with measuring tape around his waist, and little else.
Realizing the silence had stretched a bit too far, Sanji figured he should probably say something. He had dragged the guy back here, after all.
“Tell me…If you worked for my family, then what are you doing here?” He tried not to let his anxiety seep into his question.
“Well, I’m a traveling tailor. I serve many royal families, including the family here. I helped craft the princess’s dress for this party, as well as some of the other family members. Once I was done, I decided I’d stop by and peruse the textile booths around the market- quite a fine selection if I do say so myself-!” He watched Sanji’s face become irritated and decided to shut up. “But, yes. Just here for the event, really.”
Sanji eyed him carefully. “Do you…still work for my family?”
Taloose shook his head. “No, actually. I don’t mean to flatter you, but you were always my favorite of the Vinsmoke children. Miss Reiju was alright, but the other three boys were quite rude, and with age they only got worse.” He made an unsettled face, as if to imply ‘rude’ wasn’t the full extent of it.
“It became increasingly difficult to work with them, and my work reflected that. I was on the verge of quitting anyway when your father fired me. I wasn’t qualified to be sewing raid suits anyway.” He scoffed.
“So you don’t have contact with them any more? You won’t tell them that you met me here?” Now his voice was betraying his anxiety, but he didn’t care.
Taloose just shook his head, smiling kindly. “No sir. I wouldn’t go back even if they paid me a million berries!” He said, standing tall and adjusting his frilly collar with pride.
Sanji felt himself relax a bit. He nevertheless pulled a new cigarette from the pack in his front pocket.
“You wouldn’t happen to know where they are nowadays, would you?” He asked after a drag. His fingers twitched ever so slightly despite the coolness he now desperately attempted to front.
Taloose was luckily a man without judgement. He shook his head gently. “No, I don’t have a clue. Hard to tell with the place always on the move.” He paused then, looking over Sanji with keen eyes.
“...I can tell you don’t wish to see them again. I apologize if my presence here made you uncomfortable. I assure you, I haven’t had contact with the Vinsmoke family in years. Should for whatever reason I come into contact with them again, I will not reveal your presence.” He says, bowing. “I promise.” A smile graces his face within the bow.
Sanji grumbles as he grabs Taloose by his collar, yanking him up to stand again. “Ya don’t gotta bow to me, idiot.”
“...But I appreciate that. Thanks.”
Sanji and Taloose part ways after that.
He’s glad to be rid of the reminder of his past, glad to have the reassurance the Vinsmokes aren’t actively searching for him or anything- but still troubled to have these memories brought back yet again. Running from your past is easy until you’re traveling the world with infamy, and suddenly the spotlight seems to put you back on the radar of harm long thought dead.
Make no mistake, Sanji didn’t regret his choice to join the Strawhats in the slightest. But he was beginning to wonder how much longer he could conceivably keep this secret.
It’s two years before it finally comes back to bite him in the ass.
“Hey, guys? The News Coo just dropped off a letter with the paper, but I think it was a mistake. It’s not addressed to any of us.”
Everyone’s heads pop up from their respective locations around the ship, peeking at Nami and the stack of papers now held in her hand. Luffy swings over from his spot on the figurehead.
“What’s it say!? Open it!” He yells excitedly, now looking down over her shoulder at it himself.
“You can’t open someone else’s mail, Luffy, it’s against the law.”
“We’re pirates!” He retorts, and for once Nami feels silly, realizing he’s right in this matter. She purses her lips and eyeballs it again, some recognition starting to come to her face.
Sanji has come down from the galley by now, hands in his pocket as he and most of the rest of the crew approaches the only entertainment they’ve had so far on an unusually boring day of sailing.
“Who’s it addressed to?” Robin asks.
“Vinsmoke.” Nami says simply, and Sanji actually staggers in his place on the deck.
“Strangely enough, isn’t that the villain from that popular comic in the newspaper sometime? Why on Earth would someone try to send a fake character a letter? And how’d we end up with it?” Nami continues, though Sanji doesn’t hear her. He’s too busy falling into the depths of a panic attack here and now.
He’d say that his stomach dropped when he heard her say the name, that his blood ran cold, but with his worst trauma suddenly cropping up in front of him in real life, truly occurring and unable to be stopped, right before the gaze of his crew, his family- he just feels nothing. A switch flips in him and all he feels his nothingness, and then pure hot fear.
“...Sanji? Are you okay?” Chopper asks from beside him, his kind face full of worry at the cook’s near instant reaction. He looks pale, his face is staring straight down at the deck like if he doesn’t look up it isn’t real, and from this angle Chopper can actually see both of his eyes for once, and they’re both blown wide and full of fear.
But he doesn’t answer, because as Chopper asks this Nami slips her thumb under the fold of the envelope and is about to rip it open, and Sanji lurches forward and has to stop himself from Diable Jambe-ing Nami’s hands and burning the letter to ash. He still does something quite out of character for him when it comes to the redheaded woman- which is that he actually yells at her to stop.
Nami, and everyone else, for that matter, freezes.
“Sanji?” Nami asks, incredulous, and a little worried.
He settles for taking it from her hands, as gently as he can manage, which is not at all.
“Don’t.” He says darkly, even though he already has the letter safely in his own hands.
Everyone is silent. They all expect someone to break the silence and yell about not being rude to Nami, but the person they expect to do so is standing right in front of them, doing exactly that. Sanji sighs, and without looking at his crew, slowly rips open the letter.
He looks it over, eyeing it as if he’s in his own pocket dimension at the moment, and no one else is there. Then, when he’s read the contents, he pauses, folds the letter, and sticks it in the pocket of his slacks.
Everyone is waiting with a question on their lips when he finally looks up again, but no one says anything, even Luffy.
Then Sanji sighs, and crosses his arms. He looks all of a sudden more nervous and unsure of himself than they’ve seen him since before Saboady, maybe even since they’ve met him.
“Do you guys remember…back in Skypiea, when we found the book Liar Noland?”
It seems an odd place to start, but they all give various sorts of a nod.
“And I told you all how I was actually born in the North Blue.” He says, reaching an arm up to rub awkwardly at the back of his neck. He really wished he had a cigarette right now, but he didn’t want to interrupt by lighting one.
They nod again, aside from Franky and Brook, who hadn’t been on the crew yet at that time.
“Well…” He can’t help it anymore. Quicker than they’ve ever seen him do it before, he slips a cig from his pack and lights it with ease, pulling some smoke out of it like he’s thirsty for it. They’ve all started to put pieces together by now, or at the very least, realize he’s about to open up to them about something quite big.
“My real name…No. My birth name is Vinsmoke Sanji.” He says, wincing at the words put together outloud. “And I’m…I was a prince.”
Everyone’s eyebrows raise at that, eyes widening; save for Zoro and Luffy, who stay relatively straight-faced, listening intently.
“I left when I was 8. I snuck onto a cruise ship, and then Zeff found me.” He continues, mincing the more ugly details that he doesn’t quite feel ready to tell them yet. He doesn’t want this to become a sob story.
“Basically, I’m a runaway prince. Though my father told everyone I was dead anyway…” He sucks in another breath full of smoke. He keeps stuttering and trailing off in his words in a way that so isn’t like him, it’s making him sick. He just wants to get this over with.
“The point is, this letter…It’s for me. I’ve been invited back…”
For a moment, Sanji considers not telling them the truth. He doesn’t want to put them in danger, he doesn’t want them to pity him, he doesn’t want them to feel the need to help him, to do so because he’s too weak to do it himself.
But he also trusts them. More than anyone else in the world, save for his father. His real father.
“For an arranged marriage to one of Big Mom’s daughters.” He grits out, biting down on his cigarette with distaste.
Usopp looks ready to burst with questions, Nami and Robin are incredulous, and even Zoro looks vaguely emotive. Franky and Chopper and Brook are just waiting for someone else to say something first.
But Luffy is, strangely enough, smiling. He adjusts the position of the straw hat on his head, ensuring it’s nice and tight. Then he gives Sanji a grin.
“I’ve been waiting for a reason to pick a fight with Big Mom.” He says.
And somehow, that’s the most reassuring thing he could have heard Luffy say to all of that.

I’ll be posting all chapters here soon and I’ll also be putting this Fic of A03 as well!
I hope you guys enjoy! 💕
🔅☁️ Chapter 1: This feeling ☁️🔅
The fight against Kaido was over.
In the sky was a figure. A figure of pure joy.
Fluffy white hair with the texture of clouds swayed in the cold breeze. A stern expression laid upon the beings face as he exhaled in exhaustion, his gaze locked onto where the defeated dragons body once lay.
Gently, He floated down to the ground , with the clouds surrounding him dancing. Even after a tremendous battle, the energy was still so high. The navy sky enveloped the surrounding, dampening everything but the sun himself - Monkey D. Luffy.
He turned his head to look behind at his crew, stunned with awe.
Running, each foot pounding into the ground with immense passion - the captain dashed towards his crew.
“Zoro!!” Luffy exlaimed beaming with joy. He ran towards his loyal crew member with a large smile. Zoro was at the front of the crew, one of his swords unsheathed In case his captain was in need of back up.
“Luffy - are you okay?” The stern swordsman asked with concern.
Luffy Jumped onto zoro’s arms with beaming laughter. The sheer power caused zoro to fully embrace him and swing his captain round. A wash of pink dusted his cheeks as his eyes met Luffy’s.
“Of course I’m okay!” Luffy giggled as he began to float again but still holding onto zoro’s hands. “Not even a scratch!”
It seemed zoro was lost for worst - the pure happiness emanating off Luffy was euphoric. All he could do was press his lips together and smile contently.
“Now don’t let go…or other wise I’ll fly away like a ballon.” Luffy joked. Both Nami and Ussop ran over with similar happy expressions.
“That was incredible!” Nami congratulated. Ussop nodded in agreement.
“Thanks! I couldn’t have done it with out you guys…really!” Luffy replied as he brought himself down from floating, both feet now planted on the ground.
“Just watching you fight made me out of breath.” Ussop added.
“Sanji and chopper are back at the ship - you deserve a good rest.” Nami informed.
As Luffy was listening, Zoro noticed the twos hands were still together and quickly pulled them away, the pink on his cheeks getting darker.
“Nami’s right.” Zoro agreed with a nod. “This is the first time I’ll agree with her - that fight looked like it took a lot out to you.”
“Took a lot out of me? Haha! Have you seen me!?” Luffy grinned. “This is my peak!”
A booming laugh escaped from Luffy’s mouth.
“Will you promise to calm down if Sanji makes you some food?” Nami rolled her eyes.
“As much I’d like to - as soon as you mentioned food my energy went up tenfold!” Luffy continued to giggle.
“Well to burn that energy of yours how about a race to the ship! Last one there is a rotten elephant tuna!” Ussop smiled before dashing off.
A race? The goal was to calm Luffy down not excite him even more.
Nami liked the idea and sprinted off, catching up with Ussop in no time.
“Aren’t you gonna run after them?” Zoro asked, noticing Luffy’s lack of movement.
“I’ve won already today.” He smiled, looking up at the swordsman. “And plus I have to make sure you don’t get lost.”
“It’s a straight sprint to the port -“ zoro began, interrupted by Luffy’s disbelieving expression.
“Hold my hand - that way you won’t get lost.” Luffy offered, his small hand open.
“W-what!? I told you I won’t get lost.” Zoro growled.
“Take my hand - it’s an order.” Luffy said with a mischievous grin.
The two made their way to the ship. although silent, the walk was filled with relief and comfort.
“Now that the ship is in viewing distance let’s see which one of us is faster!” Luffy smiled up at his green haired peer.
“You sure you wanna race? You pester me to rest all the time - don’t you think it’s time for me to do the same?” Zoro replied with a small grin.
“Well…are you suggesting that my dear second in command carry his exhausted leader back to the ship~” Luffy joked, holding onto zoro’s shoulder and hand before dropping all off his weight, relying on zoro’s strength to keep him up.
“Don’t to that - you’ll fall.” The stern swordsman rolled his eyes.
“Won’t you carry me~?” Luffy teased playfully
“If it stops you from running around and will calm you down.”
“Wait!-“
Zoro suddenly lifted Luffy up and hauled him over his shoulder. The blush on zoro’s face continued to get deeper and deeper the more Luffy teased.
“No! Wait!! This isn’t what I meant!!” Luffy exclaimed
“I don’t care if this isn’t what you meant - this is what you get.”
“You’re handling your captain like a sack of potatoes!!”
“Shut up will you!” Zoro growled lightheartedly as he continued to walk.
The two approached the ship. Zoro looked over his shoulder to Luffy before scooping him up like a cat and dropping him onto the ground.
“Omphf- hehe, I guess you aren’t willing to carry me up?” Luffy giggled.
“Nope - you don’t seem exhausted at all so you can make your own way up.” Zoro replied bluntly with a small smile he was trying to hide.
“Okay!” Luffy beamed as he stretched one arm up to the side of the ship.
All of a sudden zoro could feel something wrap around him in seconds - it was luffy’s other arm and before he could react he and his captain were flung up into the cold night sky.
“WHAT DO YOU THINK YOURE DOING!?” Zoro yelled and he grabbed onto Luffy’s arm that was coiled around his waist.
“I’m burning my energy- like you wanted!” Luffy laughed without a care in the world.
“I know full well flinging us into the air doesn’t burn your energy.” Zoro rolled his eyes.
“Cmon, at least like- pretend to be scared.” Luffy pouted.
“With the amount of times you’ve hurdled me off this ship - im used to it.”
“You’re no fun.” Luffy huffed childishly.
Both luffy and zoro plummeted down from the sky, both unphased, but a tremendous laugh could be heard coming from Luffy which seemed to calm down as he turned the fast falling into a graceful float down onto the ship. His pure white hair began to flow as the wind grew stronger - despite everyone’s best efforts to tire their captain out nothing had worked.
Luffy swiftly uncoiled his arm from around zoro and met everyone with a beaming grin.
“Way to be dramatic.” Ussop remarked.
“Uwwah!!” A cute voice could be heard as well as small footsteps. Chopper has ran out from inside, followed by robin. “You look amazing!!” He squealed with happiness.
“Aw hehe geez guys!” Luffy blushed shyly.
“Tell us all about it.” Robin nodded.
The captains eyes lit up like stars. To retell the exhilarating battle was an honor.
“This power - it feels like pure euphoria is flowing through me - haha! Kaido had no chance!” Luffy explained. He began to twirl around and jump around as he told the story of the fight, trying to reenact it. “I am at my greatest!” He yelled with such passion as he did one last move. With such force, he swung is arm back and punched the air with a smile.
Chopper looked up in awe while Robin was nodding with an approving smile although she couldn’t quite piece together Luffy’s story as he spoke so fast.
Suddenly, zoro grabbed luffy’s fist and pried it open.
“Wh-what are you-!?” Luffy slightly jumped back, startled.
“What have I said about your grip - look your nails have dug into your palms again.” Zoro lectured. Luffy snatched his hand back in response, rolled his eyes and made a goofy dismissive expression.
“Foods ready everyone!” Sanji called mere seconds before walking out from the kitchen with plates of a range of meat and roasted vegetables. Zoomed over to the long table that had been set out onto the deck for the feast.
“You’re not gonna sit at the head of the table?” Sanji asked as he put down the food.
“Nope!” Luffy said awfully bluntly, enjoying sitting on the center on one of the sides of the table. Zoro couldn’t help but smile to himself in response to Luffy’s bluntness.
Zoro took the chair from the head of the table and moved it to one side to even out the chairs - he sat down adjacent to the captain, looking him up and down as his cloud- like form still hadn’t calmed down.
Ussop sat one side of Luffy and Nami the other and both Chopper and Robin sat either side of Zoro while the other filled up the other seats.
“To start we have a selection of barbecued meat, covered in Honey, Tangerine and chili sauce as well as roasted vegetables as a side with a soy drizzle - is everyone here wanting Sake?” Sanji proudly explained. Luffy nodded eagerly - ready to tuck in.
Once the sake was brought out the crew grew more and more lively. Good thing sanji was prepared for such a celebration as Luffy wouldn’t stop eating and both he and Zoro seemed to be in an unspoken contest on who could drink the most.
“You are such a lightweight!” Zoro exlaimed with a competitive grin. Factually he was right - luffy wasn’t one to really drink so when he did, it’s affects took hold rather quickly.
“Shut up mosshead! If this was an eating contest I’d have already beaten you into the ground!” Luffy growled being shoveling a freshly made plate of rice balls which was about the twelfth course Luffy has consumed.
“I bet you’ll only be able to handle one more bottle!” Zoro taunted. And In response, Luffy began to chug about three more bottles in spite.
“Woah slow down Luffy! I’ve never seen you drink this much before!” Ussop warned.
“Me neither! This can’t be good for you.” Chopper worried.
“Bleh ~ slowing down is for the weak.” Luffy shrugged off.
The night went on and as the sky grew darker, Luffy’s laughter got louder. At this point he was incredibly drunk after loosing the contest against zoro.
“I don’t - I don’t understand how you can be so normal acting~” Luffy admitted as his words were slurring. One of his arms was around Ussops shoulders as he insisted the captain must dance - Luffy agreed to this sentiment and insisted on pushing past the dizziness.
“You hardly drink - so it affects you more.” Zoro explained, watching as Luffy stumbled around.
“Well I wish it didn’t.” Luffy groaned.
“I swear to god if you throw up all the food I made you - I’ll throw you overboard.” Sanji said, lighting a cigarette as he approached zoro and Luffy.
“Go make him some tea. Nami said there’s a storm expected tomorrow midday so we gotta be out here my morning.” Zoro ordered “so we’re gonna need our captain.” He continued, glaring and Luffy.
“Ay! Why are you looking at me with thoes eyes?” Luffy retorted defensively.
Sanji took that as his sign to leave.
“Sorry Luffy! But Me and Franky are gonna go set off fireworks hehe!” Ussop smiled before letting go of Luffy and running off.
“Woah woah - I got you.” Zoro said as he grabbed his captain by the shoulders before he could trip over himself in a dazed state. Luffy put his hands to zoro’s chest before tiredly looking up. “You okay?” Zoro asked.
Luffy looked up. His eyes met with the swordsman. His face suddenly washed with red.
Everything is his body dropped.
The majestic pure white cloudy hair fell to grey, then to black - the clouds that surrounded him melted away. His expression dropped to one of fear.
“Luffy?” Zoro spoke
Luffy stumbled back and the silence seemed to get a few of the crews attention.
“Hey Luffy? Your forms gone?” Nami chimed in, looking concerned.
“Everything okay luffy?” Ussop asked.
“You look awfully pale.” Chopper added.
With such a small glance - things came crashing down. The power, the energy, the confidence…all gone in an instant
“Luffy. Answer me.” Zoro ordered with a strong tone - although it was the voice he’d least liked to hear in that moment it was the one he needed.
“I…I” luffy stammered. “Ow ow~ my head!” He quickly switched up. A sigh of relive flooded the ship.
“That’s it you need to sit down.” Zoro replied - it was more than needing to sit down. Luffy was on the verge of collapse.
Zoro sat Luffy down in one of the chairs by the dining table while chopper ran over to the two in concern. Sanji soon came over with ginger tea which was the crews go to hangover cure.
“Luffy are you sure you’re okay? You’ve been drunk for hours what changed?” Chopper asked.
“I-I’m not sure.” Luffy lied. “I feel so exhausted.”
“Maybe all the jumping around finally tired you out.” Zoro joked However, Luffy couldn’t bring himself to look at him.
“You should really rest.” Chopper advised. Luffy was against this idea.
Having to cut short the celebration for any reason made Luffy sad. He loved seeing his crew have so much fun. To stop it seemed cruel.
“No…” he muttered under his breath.
“Hm?” Zoro hummed in confusion.
“I don’t…I don’t want the celebration to end - I’m fine! Really!” Luffy tired to smile but everyone around knew it was one of tiredness.
“No you’re sitting still even if we have to restrain you.” Zoro frowned.
“But what about ussops fireworks - I’ve gotta be up for the fireworks!”
“Fine but after that you need sleep.” Chopper agreed. “You look so pale and your eyes look so…dull.” He continued.
“Gee thanks…” luffy rolled his eyes before getting up and walking off toward, Ussop and Franky.
Chopper looked intently at his captain, he knew something wasn’t right and zoro watched too with an annoyed expression that Luffy was so quick to dismiss his loss of power.
“Almost done - just gotta light them hehe!” Ussop muttered in excitement. “ Stand back everyone! This is a very treacherous job you know!”
Luffy took a couple of steps back while the rest of the crew came together around him to watch the fireworks.
With one…okay more like seven strikes of the match, ussop lit the fuse and cowardly ran back to watch the colorful fireworks go off. Everyone gazed is amazement and cheers flooded the ship.
Although things didn’t feel right.
Luffy stood there, silently.
At a time like this he’d be bouncing all over the place but right now - it’s like that part of him was missing. At a time where everyone was at their happiest. He felt nothing.
It was like something within him had been lost.
As the crew was in awe of the fireworks, Luffy stumbled into the boy’s bedroom and onto the closest bed - which happened to be Zoro’s. Luffy growled in anger and tried to get up to his own bed but to no avail.
His legs as lost all strength and he began to get frustrated, digging his feet against the floor to hold him up.
The idea of not being able to stand up on his own made Luffy incredibly angry.
“What’s going on in here?” A voice said from the doorway. It was zoro. Stupid zoro.
“Go away…” luffy mumbled
“You’re drunk, tired and stumbling all over the place-“
“I SAID GO AWAY!” Luffy snapped, before getting to his feet mostly. The captains yells didn’t phase zoro at all.
A cold silence hung in the air.
“Leave me alone - I-I can do this…on my own.” Luffy insisted as he tried to walk over to his own bed which only a few steps as it was next to zoro’s. However even that seemed like a challenge and Luffy’s legs gave way, making him collapse to the floor.
“At least have some on Sanjis tea.” Zoro offered as he poured a cup from the tea pot that had been put in the room.
The steam from the tea was hypnotizing as zoro kneeled down to Luffy’s level.
“Look…you don’t have to say anything. You don’t have to talk.” Zoro reassured. Luffy sat up and took the tea. It was nice and eased the small headache he had gotten.
“I don’t want to.” Luffy replied, sipping the tea.
“Why don’t I help you into bed.”
“No.” Luffy said sharply “I can do it on my own.”
Luffy’s words were ignored as zoro scooped his captain up into his arms and put him onto his bed.
“Let go of me!” Luffy exclaimed, clearly very unhappy.
“I don’t particularly want to hear you crying all night because you can’t get up into your own bed.”
Luffy put the tea down onto the bedside table before covering his face with his arms. He didn’t wanna listen to zoro or hear his voice or even look at him - he wanted to tell him to go away but even speaking felt like it took so much energy. “Just rest okay.” Zoro said bluntly before leaving the bedroom.
And there he was. All alone, Just like he wanted.
No one could understand this feeling…this feeling of loss. It was like no other feeling Luffy had felt, losing the best part of yourself all because of some stupid swordsman.
It had to be his fault.
It only took a few minutes for Luffy to pass out and not long after the rest of the crew decided to head to bed - they all seemed partied out. It had been a fun night although the crew was worried for luffy - chalking it up to him being exhausted after the fight - but Zoro had a feeling there was more to it.

It's just Business --Six: Cleaning
I should just spam post these. The fic is done, but I keep forgetting to post.
Tumblr media
AO3 | Master post
Sanji was lost in thought as he cleaned the galley after breakfast. Granted, there wasn't much. Zeff had drilled it into him to clean as he went. He did more out of habit, as well as allowing himself the time to think.
He was overjoyed that you had joined the Straw Hat crew despite your obvious hesitancy. Leaving Baratie and Zeff was one thing-- it was hard but also freeing. Like a bird leaving the nest once it was fully fledged, and taking flight to find its own way in life.
But leaving you? That hadn't sat so well in his chest. Despite not actually being in his day-to-day life, you were still a constant. He had counted the days passing on the Baratie by how many more until you returned.
The mere idea of not seeing you for who-knew-how-long had terrified him. Never seeing your smile again, or being able to wrap you in his arms tight and feeling you all but melt against him as you squeezed him back? It would be a nightmare.
Thank the gods you decided to follow. He had been over the moon when you conceded; you and him, finding the All Blue. Together, just as he often dreamt.
He hadn't really given much thought as to why you caved despite your initial reluctance. But after last night…
-*-
"So why are you flirting so much with Nami when you already have a girlfriend?"
Everyone in the men's quarters froze at Usopp's sudden question. Sanji was convinced he had misheard him, which - considering they were all getting ready for bed - was understandable, and asked: "I'm sorry, what?"
Usopp fidgeted, obviously uncomfortable with everyone's attention now on him and the tense feeling in the air. "I mean, you've been flirting with Nami kinda hard. Like, full-on heart eyes whenever our navigator is even mentioned. So do you and our new helmsman-slash-bookeep have like, and open relationship, or…"
Sanji laughed despite the uncomfortable feeling of his face growing warm. "God no, nothing like that. We're just close friends is all."
The silence didn't ease any, and all three men were staring at him now. "What?" Sanji finally asked. "Do you have a problem with that?"
"Just the fact it's bullshit," Zoro muttered, one eye opened from his own hammock.
Sanji crossed his arms. "Well I wouldn't expect you to know much about having friends."
"Nah. Zoro's right," Luffy added. "You two are closer than friends."
He was definitely blushing by now, and the urge for a cigarette was itching at him. "I assure you, we are not. There is nothing romantic between us."
Which, that was a half-truth. He couldn't deny the fact he was still in love with you, at least not to himself. He was convinced no matter what, he was always going to love you. But you had made it clear you weren't interested in him that way, and he'd respect that.
"Like I said, bullshit."
-*-
Why had you decided to change your mind? Was it simply that the bonds of friendship were that strong, and you were already wavering that his request had broken your resolve?
Sanji had given up on you returning his feelings years ago. He had flung himself into trying to find those same emotions in other women in an attempt to cover up the ache from the realization no matter what he did, you never believed he was being serious.
That plan had worked - for the most part - back at the restaurant. It had only ached a little bit when you and him would steal a bottle of wine and escaped to the back deck to catch up. To hear your laughter echo across the night, cheeks darkened from the alcohol. Or the fact you would end up cuddled to his side after a few drinks, desperate for human touch after being by yourself for such long periods of time. He couldn't help but indulge in the chance. Arm slung over your shoulder, dreaming of what-ifs and maybes as you would both lapse into companionable silence. Pressing a kiss to your forehead when he could tell you were on the verge of sleep before gently encouraging you to bed.
And now he was going to be around you everyday; hearing that laugh, seeing that smile... Nami was a beautiful woman, but she had nothing on the way your face lit up with delight as you bantered back and forth. How you literally would try to bite back a smile while pretending to be upset.
How was he supposed to keep his heart contained? If the rest of the crew already thought you were romantically involved, surely you would catch on as well. That the indulgent touches, his pet names, all of it wasn’t as platonic as you believed.
Would there be that disgust in your expression like when you caught him flirting with others--Nami included? Would you be angry? Or would you laugh in his face before pity overcame your expression and you told him you would never feel that way for him?
Could he even dare to hope that maybe, despite everything, you’d blush shyly and smile at him? Or-- more likely-- smack his arm while burying your face against him as you were prone to do when embarrassed.
God, if only.
Sanji was pulled out of his thoughts as the door opened and you wandered in, face reddened by the sun and wind. "Damn, you've really been busy. I expected at least a few of Luffy's dishes left."
Sanji smiled as he threw the dish towel over his shoulders before leaning against the island separating you. "It's easy to clean when he doesn't leave anything but crumbs. Were you going to come help, or do you have something else on your mind?"
You shrugged your shoulders as you leaned against the island as well, mimicking his pose. "Mmm, sorta? Mostly just missing the covered helm of my ship, to be honest. I'm going to be sunburnt as hell, but also I just wanted to come bother you." Your smile grew as you winked. "Just think, I get to be a pain in your ass all the time now."
That damned smile of yours was going to be the death of him, yet at the same time he knew he'd die a happy man. "How ever am I going to survive the horror of being stuck on a ship with two lovely women as well as being the boss of my own kitchen?" He teased back, delighted as your face turned darker yet and you looked away.
"You dork," You scoffed. "You would be in seventh-heaven right now. I can't believe we're heading to the freaking Grand Line. As pirates. My parents are probably swearing up a storm right now."
Sanji chuckled as he turned to start making you something to help cool you down. "I'm still surprised you agreed. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy as well, just surprised."
"Yeah, well, I seemed to recall saying something about you being stuck with me forever."
His smile grew as he remembered that promise-- shortly after your parent's death as you decided to continue their work. He knew you had no interest in working the Baratie; you weren't one to stay in one place for long, nor were you fond of the large crowds.
He had been so worried it meant he would never see you again --that you would sail away one last time, never to return. He hadn't been able to keep himself from pulling you against him tight, mentally thanking every deity yet again when you decided to keep your parent's transport route.
"And I said you'd never be alone." Sanji poured the ice drink into a glass and handed it to you, smiling softly as you met his gaze. He meant it back then, as well as now. Even if it ended up killing him.
》°《
One of the cooks had left out a bottle of Brandy. And well, Sanji had been assigned to clean up for the night, and you had decided to ‘keep him company.’
Teenagers did stupid things, and neither of you were immune to that fact.
The kitchen was roughly cleaned, though Sanji could admit he spent more time talking with you, leaning against the same counter you sat on - especially once he mastered mixing up Brandy Alexanders. The more the late hours wore on, the more Sanji was entranced with you. Watching your eyes catch the light from the overhead lamps, or run your tongue along your lips to catch a bit of the creme from your drink.
Sanji would be willing to argue you had started things first; when you leaned forward so you could play with his hair, your fingers stroking his cheek softly... He wasn't sure what enticed you, but held still as if afraid moving would scare you away.
Yet when you finally met his gaze, cheeks flushed as you bit your lower lip, Sanji couldn’t help himself. He leaned closer, one arm braced on either side of your hips before brushing his lips against yours. He could taste the chocolate still on your lips, making him sigh as he pulled away.
Your hand wrapped around his tie, stopping him. There was a challenging glint in your eye as you pulled him close for another kiss.
Sanji swore he had died and gone to heaven as he indulged himself. Kissing you properly like he had always dreamed about, tasting the remnants of drink on your lips along with your own natural taste - that was better than any meal he had tasted. His hands moved to your thighs, squeezing the soft flesh lightly as he pulled you closer, so tempted to see if he could convince you to part them so he could step closer still; to have those strong legs wrap around his waist, to press his hips against yours…
Except before he could push his luck, you pulled away, gasping for breath. “Wait. Stop.”
He groaned, but rested his forehead against yours as he placed his hands back on the counter. “What’s wrong?” He asked, though silently swore to himself that if you hinted he was a bad kisser again…
“It’s just… too much,” You whispered. “We-we’ve had too much to drink. This isn’t us.”
Sanji leaned back, his eyes meeting yours. He wanted to confess that this was exactly what he had always wanted - that this was what he wanted as much as finding the All Blue. But even in the haze of bliss and brandy, he could see the hesitancy - the fear - in your eyes, and it cut him straight to the core.
He gripped the edge of the counter tightly as he forced a smile. “As my lady wishes.” He pressed a lingering kiss to your forehead before stepping back, offering a hand as you slid down from the counter. “Do you want me to walk you back to your ship?”
You shook your head, face flushed. “No. But… thank you.”
Watching you walk away was like cutting his own heart out, but he stood strong as he shoved his hands in his pocket.

My Friends Enjoy Reminding Me of My Many WIPs: The Tag Game
Another tag game! I prommy I worked on the fics from the last tag meme/game I've just been....school hell. :/ (Same thing for Whumptober, I'm just doing at least one a week now woooo)
Anyway finishing off my latest reblog spam with responding to this! Thank you @pencilofawesomeness for tagging me! :D
- rules: share the first line (or two or more!) of every current wip you have (that you feel comfortable sharing) and tag some writer friends! feel free to add the titles of your documents if you see fit
I'll tag others up here so y'all don't have to go through the wips yourselves if you don't wanna lol: @insertsomthinawesome , @x-i-l-verify, @wandererriha, @forwantofacalling
YALL DON'T HAVE TO it's just a fun thing <333
------
Whumptober 2023: Day 13, Infection (Trigun: Twin Swap AU, Zazie POV)
(in an ideal world I woulda finished this today but hhhhsdgjkfsd nope)
There is something…strange, piercing the night-moon-dark air. We lift our head, looking through the eyes of a drone to the dark sky-sands above. Normally, those sands would glint with the eyes of Monarchs passed before us, and if it were Brood Season, the expanse would be alight with the drifting eggs of yet-to-be-hatched grubs. Yet this Moon-pass...eggs much bigger than we’ve ever seen in all our many cycles are falling down down down-
Bright. Blinding. Hot.
------
Whumptober 2023: Day 9, "You're a Liar" (Trigun: Stampede)
There’s an illness rolling through the orphanage- Toma-pox, they call it. Nicholas prowls the halls, gathering up the sick kids one by one. He needs to make sure all the kids are piled into one area so they can be taken care of. And q. Cuar. Ant-eened. He thinks that's how you say it.
Miss Melanie was really tired and taking a break, so Nicholas can help with this. Sisters Clara and Beth were busy making stew for everyone. He’d already been looking for Livio, what's a couple more kids?
They tell him to be careful or he might catch it too. He just huffs and rolls his eyes. He’s too strong to get sick like everyone else.
-------
Whumptober 2023: Day 7, "Can you hear me?" (One Piece)
They’d stopped on an island, something-something island with a name Zoro didn’t bother to remember. They’d stopped there to restock on some supplies, since according to their Cook and Doctor, they were getting pretty low.
Which is all well and good; Luffy in particular is always excited for someplace new to explore; their Captain needed somewhere to work off his pent up energy. Normally Zoro would go with him, but he’d somehow gotten roped into pack-mule duty for the crap Cook, while Nami helped Chopper carry his purchased supplies. He's not sure why the roles can't be switched. Random fruits and vegetables weren’t that much heavier than bandages in his opinion really…
He got angrier the more he thought about it, but not for the usual reasons.
------
My Mind, My Body, My Soul, Chapter 5: Father's Lament (Genshin Impact, Daemon AU)
Today was supposed to be a good day. It was supposed to be bright, filled with joy and happy memories to be made.
In a happier world, a safer world, maybe the Ragnvindr family would have had a wonderful party, full of smiles and cake and food and love and safety and warmth. Perhaps some drinking, since Diluc would then have been of age, and the only tragedy would be the young master of Mondstadt’s wine industry discovering how much he dislikes alcohol.
A small semi-formal dance was to be had, followed by a sweet musical number performed by the youngest Gunhildr sister. Some embarrassment, but genuine awe and excitement as that would have been the first gift given on the celebration of Diluc’s birth.
------
Whumptober 2023: Day 30, Borrowed clothing, bridal carry (Twisted Wonderland)
“There! The mirror!” Divus says, relief plain in his voice. Mozus Trein looks up from the mirror in his grip, towards the Dark Mirror all their students had leapt through hours before, its surface rippling with voices coming from as if underwater.
“OH thank goodness! We won't be sued after all-” Crowley sighs, stepping forward only to be pulled back by one of Divus’s hands on his feathered shoulder.
-------
Whumptober 2023: Day 23, Shadows, "Who's there?" (Honkai Star Rail)
(tip toeing around spoilers so I'm not sharing the FIRST first lines haha)
They both look over to their friend to catch him staring back at them, golden eyes wide, his fingers near his mouth. He swallows on reflex, and they can tell it's more than just saliva going down his throat.
Welt's face goes pale, and he shoves the journal to the side, which March quietly takes. Welt rushes to Orion's side, cane clicking, free hand fluttering nervously about the box. “Please tell me you did not just take one of those medicine pellets.”
Orion blinks, then looks down at the box. One small object, one pill is clearly missing.
”I uh. Can tell you I did not...not take one....“ the young trailblazer says sheepishly. Welt sucks in a breath through his teeth.

Hello! This is a different anon from the one who asked for Kid from One Piece, but I was wondering if you might make a part 2 of that request? I loved that fic ❤
Kid and Y/n meet coincidently on a mission with the strawhats and others. They are not happy seeing one another, at least Y/n is not. The plot can be whatever you want, but in the end, Y/n joins the Strawhats group, much to Kid's dismay.
Thank you! ❤
Eustass Kid x Fem. Reader [Pt.2]

Angst...ah I've missed you.
Want more from me? Masterlist 2
Part 1: Hello
☆*: .。. .。.:*☆☆*: .。. .。.:*☆
🧲The Other Side🧲 (One Piece)
Warning(s): Angst
You bump into the man you hate most right now...it isn't the best encounter.
✨✨✨✨
"This secret map, the myth, do you know where it's supposed to be?"
The elderly woman smiled, "Dear girl, it's simply a myth."
You shyly laughed, "I know. But I don't have the best memory, it feels nice to be able to remember things."
The old woman continued to clean clothes in thought, "Well, no outsiders are told the complete myth. Only people who are from here."
"Really?"
"But, since you've been such a sweetheart, helping me with this laundry--I can indulge you."
"Thank you, Ma'am," you grinned.
"So...the part that the myth ends for you, is simply that it's on the island in the box of challenges, which is on the mountain, right?"
"Yes, in the box, there are hidden traps. They prevent one from getting to the map."
"Yes," the woman's eyes followed you as you hung a dress, "But there's a specific area where it's located."
"Hm. Makes sense why they wouldn't tell outsiders, most already believe it a myth. But if the pirate era is anything to go by, people like testing myths."
"We only get a few people that try now, before there were lines, but when no one came out...the amount dropped."
You frowned, "Wouldn't that say something about it being proven true?"
"We localists believe it's a trick our ancestors left, to destroy threats. A death box, I wish that we could get rid of it..."
"Hmm..."
"They say, it's located at the top, the deadliest floor."
"That would make sense," your gaze turned to the gigantic cube in the distance. "Do you know who made it?"
"No, young Miss, I do not, it's been long forgotten among us."
You hung up the last shirt, "You sure you can finish that yourself?"
"We made a deal, I'd only let you help me if I could do my own portion. I may be old, but I can handle myself, dear."
You sighed, "All right, thank you, Ma'am."
She cast you a worried glance, "You have such a bright life ahead of you, please don't go into that box and extinguish it. Don't waste it on an empty promise."
You give a smile and depart.
The thing was...it was the locals who were tricked, it wasn't a myth.
How did you know this? Because you had managed to get ahold of the blueprints.
As well as the fact, you could feel it, from whatever little bits of your power came back with memory.
You flipped out a machete, chopping at the vines and leaves in your way.
All you remembered was that you were powerful, you were the first mate to a pirate captain (you didn't know who), and you had a skill of sneaky stealth and often effortlessly stole things for your crew.
Speaking of your memory, one sparked when word spread of this secret map, leading to info that could be advantageous, your crew had been looking for it before. The story reemerged.
Only people with the strongest pirate instincts--along with the insanity to risk their lives for something like info, believed it was true.
Well, a few civilians or low-rank pirates who just wanted to prove themselves tried, but never made it past the first floor.
Considering where you were, you can guess which one you were.
"This is a whole bunch of vines, are you sure we're going in the right direction, Nami?" a gruff voice asked not too far away.
"Unlike you, I know where I'm going, I have a map...wait...do you see that, Zoro?"
"Yeah, these vines are cut, someone's been this way."
"Oh, yeah. I can feel them," a cheery voice announced.
"Why didn't you say anything?!"
"There are lots of people here, I didn't think about it! But this person is strong..."
You cursed under your breath.
Deciding to run as quietly as you could, you didn't want to run into anyone else looking.
Once you got a distance away, you decided to sleep overnight at a small motel, " One bed."
The man spits into a bucket beside you, making you recoil in disgust, "Eight berries."
You toss the coins, "Seems a little much for a place that looks like it's going to fall down in the next windstorm."
"Then leave if you've got a problem."
"Nah, it's cheap, it'll work."
You catch the key he tosses and head to your room.
Not paying any attention to what was ahead of you, you bumped into someone, "Oh, sorry--Oh."
Your face immediately turned into a scowl at his face.
Eustass Kid.
"[Name]. It's been a while."
"Mm."
"How've you been?"
"You wouldn't care, so I'm not gonna waste my breath telling you," you bit back.
"Seems you've gotten stronger--"
You scoffed, "I'm not gonna do this with you! You drop me off like that, and now you're acting like everything is fine?! Do you not understand what hate means?"
He clenched his jaw, sighing out, "Fine. I'm gonna ask this as a pirate, what are you doing here?"
You crossed your arms, "Same thing as you I'm sure, no one sober would come to this island for any other reason."
"The secret map?"
"No, they've got special bread here that I've been dying to try," you rolled your eyes. "Yes, the secret map."
You scoffed, "Now, if you excuse me. The more I hear your voice, the more I get annoyed. So I'm going to bed."
He let you past, watching you rush to your room, slamming the door shut. The force was so hard, that the hallway shook for a moment.
He was surprised the door hadn't fallen off.
Kid took a deep breath, "It's for the betterment of the crew."
Before the break of dawn, you set off, moving as fast as you could to get as must distance as possible from the man you hated...
..Well, maybe you didn't truly hate him, you were just hurt.
But it was close enough, so you didn't bother with the specifics.
And by the afternoon, you were standing in front of the box.
"Now, to get inside," you unscrolled the blueprint.
"Who're you?"
Your head snapped over to a curious expression, "Who're you?"
"I'm Luffy, Captain of the Straw Hats!"
You remember this man, Kid had complained about this captain often.
"Oh."
"You lookin' for the map, too?"
"Mhm."
"Where's the rest of your crew?" he swayed back and forth in his seated position.
"Where's yours?"
"Out for food. I had to wait here, something about not letting anybody get in before us," he pouted.
You tilted your head, he seemed much more disappointed about the food part.
Rolling back up the blueprint, you tuck it into your waistband.
"I don't got a crew. Here on my own, so if you excuse me," you walked to the entrance of the box...only to be pulled back into hard muscle.
"You can't go in there silly! I told you I have to keep you out," he smiled.
You groaned, trying to escape from your rubber-armed prison to no avail, "I forgot about your power, damn it."
He only laughed, not even budging from your effort, "You're trying really hard, huh? It's cute."
After he left you go and you ran for the entrance again, he didn't let you go again until his crew returned.
"Who's this Luffy?" a familiar female voice from before asked.
"I dunno. She was trying to get inside the box."
"Good job, you listened."
"Who are you?" a green-haired man asked, getting to the point.
"Who're you?"
"I asked you first!"
"She likes doing that," Luffy informed.
"I'm Roronoa Zoro."
You tilted your head, "So it was you. The man who uses three swords."
"So you know me?" he smirked.
"Don't get cocky, I only know you because of my ex-captain."
"I thought you said you didn't have a crew?" Luffy's voice asked next to your ear.
"I don't, not anymore. I left."
"Who was your Captain?" the girl asked, Nami, you remembered.
"...Eustass Kid."
"Wha--Him?!" Luffy exclaimed.
You winced, "Ow, you're in my ear!"
"I can see why you left," Zoro chuckled.
"It isn't like that...he's...a good person, he just--he stabbed me in the back."
"What's that?" Nami turned her gaze to the blueprint in your waistband.
Why would you tell her--Kid hates them, right?
You could indulge a little, work with them.
"Blueprints, for the box."
"Blueprints?" her eyes lit up.
"Yeah."
"How did you get them? Even the best of pirates looking for the box couldn't find them!"
You couldn't help the cocky smirk that tore onto your face, "Guess I'm better than the best at finding things."
"Hm...What's your name?" Luffy asked.
"My name? [Name]. I don't have a last name...I think."
"You think?" Zoro raised a brow.
"My memory's a little wacky."
"That name sounds familiar," Nami tapped her chin, "A very famous first mate has that name, too. Legend has it, she's over fifty with how good her skills are."
You snorted, you're definitely not fifty. But you must have been pretty cool for that rumor to be spreading.
"[Name]. Join my crew!"
"Ow! My ear, please!" you whined.
"Stop inviting people to randomly join our crew!"
"But then we can work together. [Name] has blueprints, right? If she's in our crew, we can use them too, or have her help us get the map to share," Luffy reasoned.
"That's actually not a bad idea, Luffy--for once..." Nami muttered.
Zoro scoffed, "But there's no way she gonna just--"
"--Sure," a mischievous smile overtook your expression.
"Eh?"
"I'll join you, and I'll come back with the secret map."
"There's no way it's that easy..." Nami squinted in suspicion.
You shrugged, "The only catch is making sure Kid is annoyed. I can do that by joining you. Simple."
"You really have a grudge, huh? That's petty as hell," Zoro chuckled.
"You don't even know half of it."
"But how can you get to the top alone? It's deadly."
Luffy finally lets you go and you walk to the entrance, "Trust me."
And you leave their sight.
You edge forward, flipping out of the aim of a dart, swinging across bars on the ceiling.
Hanging on your legs, you pull your body up, avoiding a thin blade that could've easily cut you in half.
After taking the right steps, you flip up to the next floor.
You ease up the floors, only getting a few thin cuts.
Kid growls as he and a few crew members hurry up the mountain, he could feel the straw hats and he could feel you.
He swore if they hurt you...
Just as he was about to break through to the top, a cloaked figure ran past, he couldn't tell who they were, they felt scrambled.
He caught sight of the scroll in their hand, "After him! He got the secret map!"
They changed course, chasing after them as they effortlessly leaped into the trees.
He growled as they stopped in front of Luffy, a hand signal being given.
His arms wrap around them as he prepares to launch them to their ship not too far away.
"You're not getting away Strawhats!"
"Gum Gum..."
Just as they launch away, the cloaked person reveals their identity..
With a booming laugh, you grin, "Not a 'he', by the way! Later Kid Pirates!"
Kid's jaw clenches so hard, that it wouldn't be surprising if a tooth cracked.
"Boss, what's [Name] doing with the Strawhats?"
He didn't know, but he didn't like it.
The Strawhats wanted a fight? They had one.
One should never take something of a pirate's...and they made that mistake when they took you from him.

Writing Patterns / First 10 Lines Tag Game
Rules: list the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there’s a pattern!
Tagged by @acewithapaintbrush, @swordsmans & @theartofdreaming1 thanks guys!!
1. wave after wave. / Monkey D. Luffy is not a patient man in the slightest.
2. ocean breathes salty. / For the last ten minutes, Luffy has watched him work through his stretches, continuing a conversation spawned at dinner—if Zoro grew a beard would it also be green, has he ever tried growing one before, would he grow a mustache—and pauses long enough to take a breath or turn his face into the breeze and watch the waves.
3. how to heal a bruise. (in 3 easy steps) / Steph sways as the train rounds another curve, one hand curled around the rail to brace herself, and the other scrolling through her iPod.
4. ode to an ocean. / Luffy is like staring into the sun.
5. the salt & the sea. / Realization hits Luffy with enough force to knock the wind out of him, and his dinner plate shatters on the floor.
6. ballast & anchor. / Not sleeping well isn’t an uncommon occurrence, and over the years Nami has grown fairly used to being a light sleeper.
7. breakwater. / It’s cold out on the Grand Line, where the weather changes almost instantaneously and the seas are calm one moment and threatening to capsize them the next.
8. ship to wreck. / Nami is the first one to notice something is amiss, but then given her current competition is Luffy and Zoro, it isn’t surprising.
9. the dickbabs baby au. / Telling Dick she’s pregnant is much more stressful than she was hoping it would be.
10. sick daze. / “I’m not that sick,” Jason tries for the third time, though the argument falls a bit flat, congested as he is.
conclusion: i knew going in that, for the most part, i like to start in the middle of things, because i am impatient person and i wait for no man. or at least i like to plunk the reader down some semblance of an idea of what's already going on and then we're going on an adventure together.
i'm tagging @lookforanewangle, @beck-a-leck, @sciencemyfiction, @wytchcore, and @bluewonderer!

I am absolutely, completely, irrevocably in love with your writing. Do you have many WIPs? Any future projects? I want to know everything. I want to read everything. Literally cannot express how much your works on ao3 moved me. They’re everything I’ve ever wanted and more. You write ZoLu so so so well. You’re amazing. I’m on my knees. Just take my soul already.
(Any fic recs btw? I trust you with my life.)
oooh my god i am going to cherish this ask for life, thank you so so much aaaaa THIS IS SO NICE. YOU'RE SO NICE. holy shit, holy shit.
i confess, albatross (the "straw hats wake up on dawn island and meet ASL + [[spoilers]]" fic) is my only official WIP right now, and it is actually my last planned multichap/longfic! i started 2023 with three "big" ideas, and they became poly philtatos, ocean theology, and that. i don't really know what/if i'm going to do after it's finished, heh. only time will tell... for both of us!
however, i do have a masterlist full of ideas for oneshots under 15k, and i pull from those ideas for warm-ups (or just generally or when i'm in the mood to write something from start to finish in a sitting or two). and i also have a few AUs i've been tossing around (see: reaper zoro au; doomed timeline au)! since you asked specifically about zolu, here are five things from the masterlist doc (:
accidental marriage
they accidentally get married during a battle celebration, thinking the hosts are just doing something special
crew saves a random island, the leader wants to make an alliance/go under protection of the straw hats by offering up one of their one as a “lifetime companion” as tribute or something
luffys like i already have a “w/e” it’s zoro
island is like “how wonderful, allow us to honor you”
zoro and luffy are like uhh sure whatever (they are wholly unsupervised at this point) almost to the end of the ceremony or w/e nami and robin find them?
(ceremony leader is like kiss kiss! and zoro is so drunk and luffy is having so much fun that luffy does kiss him and they both think it’s hilarious)
robin is like “oh. oh my. they are married now” and nami thinks it’s hilarious
luffy tried to figure out what you’re supposed to do when you’re married, but most of it is stuff they do already
sanji gives them shit re: kissing (thinking it's new) and “we’ve already done that already—stupid sanji” re: dinghy boy makeouts
basically zoro and luffy have no idea what being married entails because neither had parents in traditional “relationships”
turns out none of the straw hats no what you do when you’re married (no examples in the backstories lol???), and the answers get more and more ridiculous as the story goes on
ultimately, nothing changes
set before water 7
epilogue (post time skip or smth) where either 1) post time skip, luffy and zoro end up in an almost identical situation and jinbei is like “do you understand what you’re saying” and zoro and luffy are like “yes????” and nami and usopp start dying laughing (basically--for years no one bothers to tell franky, brook, and jinbei that theyre married)
alternate outsider/straw hat POV
robin is like “you’re pirates, you can do whatever you want. you can ignore it/pretend it never happened.” luffy is like “NUH-UH, a promise is a promise”
jinbei franky brook trying to explain marriage to luffy—luffy is like “how do you know you’re NOT married??” and they’re like ???? but also roll with it. someone says “well, you are not together with that person anymore” or smth
zoro, are we together? (what—i’m right here) we’ll, duh, stupid. but are we together? (well we aren’t apart, are we?)
luffy wakes zoro up to tell him he loves him (excited!) and it’s cute bc zoro is annoyed
luffy runs up, kisses zoro full on the mouth, zoro rolls with it—luffy laughs and runs off, zoro gives him a thumbs up (but is LOSING IT internally) // “EW don’t kiss me with your mouth full, fuck!”
xxx
AU where zoro is a bounty hunter constantly chasing luffy as the series goes on (and they slowly fall in love or smth)
xxx
luffy hates having his wounds cleaned because of the water (so zoro does it)
both pre-timeskip and post-timeskip moments
the sunny’s filter is good but not miraculous, so all the water they have on the sunny is brackish
the seawater makes the whole thing more uncomfortable; luffy is injured in a particularly dirty (poison? Mud?) fight and getting him to bathe is difficult enough—he is being particularly stubborn about letting chopper clean the wounds themselves (maybe he doesn’t even bathe at all—just makes nami summon a rainstorm so he doesn’t have to deal with an actual bath, which means his wounds really do need to be properly cleaned)
baths are the devil (so zoro keeps watch)
zoro presses his head between luffy’s shoulderblades and thinks of a time when things were simpler, their injuries were easier, and yet everything is still exactly the same
he looks at the wounds on luffy’s skin and knows that they make him a failure, but he knows, too, that this is why he follows Luffy—his strength, the way he takes a fight head-on and wins. His willingness to give his body for others, too, to fill the cracks between them and make up for what they lack. Like fighting with swords in the rain. [recall water 7]
these are some of the only moments when luffy sits still long enough to be held, not the one holding for once.
xxx
before nami, zoro learns to keep one hand on his captain at all times—otherwise he’ll fall into the ocean without him realizing it (zoro learning to keep luffy in his sight/learning to be watchful and protective of someone else, because luffy keeps fucking drowning)
hand holding, touch, learning to be a family when neither of them know what family means
this evolves as time passes to zoro just generally keeping an eye on luffy, being in tune with him, etc. nightmares, fights, thoughts, etc.
luffy knows he can do stupid stuff because zoro will be there to back him up (alternate pov? or zoro notices luffy pushing "bullshit" boundaries and just rolling with it)
sharing the same braincell: the origin story
xxx
waterfall + pool + river; fluff with introspection
vingette of luffy and zoro on an island, there’s a river—zoro is trying to catch fish with his bare hands (to impress luffy) but keeps failing.
Luffy is on the bank watching, laughing, eventually zoro gives up and tries to slice up the fish in the water (it works) but it muddies the water;
luffy starts throwing things into the water and making zoro dive for them, ostensibly so zoro can strengthen his lungs (per zoro’s request);
they talk about how luffy feels re: not being able to touch water, missing out on experiences, etc.
why is luffy sitting still long enough for this? Nami told him he had to stay with zoro and NOT cause problems on the island (everyone agrees this is a bad idea but for some reason it works this time)
xxx
ALSO. I HAVE LOTS OF FIC RECS ACTUALLY.......... BUT I WILL MAKE A DIFFERENT POST ABOUT THAT BECAUSE THIS IS UHH... stupid long lmao.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS ASK ILY!!!!!!!! <33333

A bag of coffee
So, this was actually started before Amongst the trees but got pushed to the backburner. It was also where I realised there’s a damn pantry as I was looking at the blueprints for Sunny. As you can tell, I’m now making full use of this new discovery for my fics.
You know that part in the relationship, where it’s just been established but it’s all so new and you’ve known this person in a certain way for so long that you overthink everything? No? Just me projecting? Well, I think poor little Snooj would be the same.
Summary:  Inventory counting was not meant to send his heart racing. Part two of the Potato Peeling series Rating: T+ You can also find this on FFN and AO3.
Enjoy!
Six bags of rice… two bags of flour…
Sanji’s pen scratched quickly across his pad as he made notes, eyes methodically scanning over bags, tins, barrels and the odd loose item. Occasionally, his pen would flick up, pointing at the item to help him count if there were a few before going back to the pad.
Once a week he would do this; come into the pantry and take an inventory of what stock he had left. It helped him plan for the week and made sure no ingredients would be wasted. It also kept him on top of what was used more often and how much he should buy the next time they arrived to stock up at an island.
A bag of coffee…
His pen halted its movement
A singular bag of coffee.
He frowned. That was a little too low considering how often Robin drank it… actually, that was way too low considering he made sure to get more of it once Nami had started drinking it more often too. He flicked back to last week’s notes and saw he had three bags of it then. Where the hell had two bags gone? Mentally, he started to make a list of what he’d been doing within the span of a week and came up blank.
Naturally his first suspect was Luffy because he was a menace. His name was mentally scrubbed out when he gave it more thought. Luffy was really only interested in the fridge, everything in here was dried that he was convinced Luffy had simply forgotten the room existed.
The next thought sent a shiver down his spine. What if Nami or Robin were making their own drinks? He didn’t think they would, he almost had a sixth sense for when they needed drinks, although he would keep an eye on that now.
Still though, that theory didn’t explain two whole bags of coffee disappearing. They drank coffee but not that much.
But when he roll called everyone in the crew, he thought about how he had caught Franky stealing his cooking oil a little while ago, using it as lubricant for one of his contraptions when he’d run out of oil and it’d earned him a swift kick out of his kitchen. The insult. As much as the idea of using cooking ingredients for things like that offended him, he was sure coffee couldn’t be used in the same way. Although he did use cola as fuel…
Hm. He’d keep an eye on it and consider getting the mouse trap out again.
Maybe he should just lock the kitchen and be done with it. That way everything would be safe from the vultures.
It would certainly be nice for when he spent time with Nami. To have her all to himself with no distractions.
Not that they didn’t spend a lot of time together. Even before they officially got together two weeks ago, they’d spent a considerable amount of time together but now it had increased and the memory from two weeks ago played in a loop in his head. A silly smile spread across his face. That was a top five moment for him and right now, it sat comfortably in the top spot. Just the two of them cooking together, being close and sharing a kiss that still made him sigh dreamily.
“Sanji-kun?”
Speaking of the angel…
“In the pantry, Nami-san!” He called, already walking to the door to meet her there.
His smile broadened when she came into view, she’d always been beautiful but it was different now he knew she felt the same way. He could gawk at her as much as he wanted, he could hold her hand, hug her, taste her lips. And as much as he wanted to, thinking about something and doing it were two different things, especially when he’d spent so long holding himself back. It almost felt wrong to act on his urges.
Right now though, he wanted to sweep the hair obstructing her face, cup her cheek because he could do that now but uncharacteristically, he held back. Maybe later, when he’d built up the nerve. It didn’t stop him from eyeing the piece and longing, instead.
“Are you okay?” Nami asked, head cocked and belatedly, he realised he’d been distracted for a bit too long.
“Yeah,” he cleared his throat, “I’m fine. I’m almost done here and then I’ll be outside.”
“I can help, we’ll be done quicker this way,” she said, breezing past him.
He perked up at the idea, more than happy to spend some quality time together.
“As always, I’ll be your lowly assistant,” he said, handing her the pen and notebook before pulling over the stool for her to sit on. She took his hand when he offered it to help her sit and his heart jumped despite the innocent gesture.
“Who knows, maybe if you do a good job, I can promote you,” she replied coyly.
And, slightly sweatier than before with her teasing, they picked up where he left off. He continued to move methodically through the racking, calling what it was and how many they had.
“Three bags of potatoes, Nami-san.”
“Three bags of potatoes,” she parroted back, pen diligently writing down what he called out, pen quickly scratching across the page. Her writing was much nicer than his and he’d always admired the way her letters looped gracefully.
Since she’d been helping him, they were actually working through it quicker. They were already done with one of the racks, there was only two left until-
“You missed one,” Nami called, breaking him from his trance.
“Huh?”
“You missed one,” she repeated, pen pointing at the line of spices he’d just counted from the racking.
Frowning, he counted the line again and got the same number. “Five?”
Shaking her head, she got up, putting the pen behind her ear and knelt down next to him at the bottom shelf of the racking. Leaning down, she pushed the five small containers aside to reach for another one right at the back, hidden behind another spice in a different row.
“And that makes six,” she corrected, holding the cinnamon.
“This is why you’re head chef!” Although he certainly hadn’t moved it. It only roused his suspicion further about someone coming in here when he wasn’t around.
“Come on, give me a page and I can do some counting as well. The head chef has to muck in too. I can help more if we split what’s left and do our own count.”
“Nami-san, you can leave, it’s really okay!” It was only natural, it was a beautiful day outside, who would want to do an inventory count? Which is why he assured, “I’m almost done here; I’ll meet you on the deck.”
“It’s fine, I like spending time with you,” she dismissed, steamrolling over his excuses for her. “Do you mind if I rip a page out? I can do my own count this way.”
“Not at all.” It was only his inventory book; he didn’t mind at all.
He watched her rip the next page out but instead of taking the book, he took the piece of paper, leaving her with the pad.
“Always the gentleman,” she teased. “I’ll take this rack and you take that rack.”
He nodded and they got to work.
They worked back-to-back, Sanji continuing on his racking and Nami behind him working of her own rack. The pantry wasn’t huge to begin with and not always knowing how long it was until the next island meant the room was filled and space was vital. Their backs brushed most of the time with how tight it was and whilst they had separate papers, they didn’t have two pens, so they ended up going back and forth with the pen. It probably wasn’t the most productive way to work but sharing a pen came with its perks. Instead of working in silence, there was the murmured question for the pen filling the gaps and it meant touching. Lots of touching. Hands brushing, shoulders bumping and his cheeks were constantly tinted pink.
Since getting together, they hadn’t done very much and it wasn’t from a lack of want. There were plenty of opportunities, plenty of openings but he fumbled every time. It was similar to that night in the kitchen where she’d adjusted his tie, he just panicked and it was only after the moment had passed that he kicked himself.
But it was hard. He’d spent so long imagining and being her friend and as much as he liked to think he was smooth; he maybe, perhaps, wasn’t so much when the moment was presented to him. Not that he would ever admit that to anyone. So, since getting together, it’d been very modest pecks, kisses to the cheek and, to his delight, the occasional hand hold. He wasn’t complaining though, it was more than he could have ever imagined and he’d counted his lucky stars ever since.
But now with just the two of them in here, the atmosphere was stifling in the best way possible and he was sure Nami was on to him. She hadn’t said anything but he was sure she was touching him more than needed and his heart felt like it was going to beat out of his chest with the anticipation.
At first, she’d tapped his shoulder to get his attention and when their fingers brushed, his heart had jumped and he felt light headed. She’d smiled before turning around to double check her count and write down the number. When she’d returned the pen, her hand had lingered and he’d swallowed at her half-lidded look.
He’d tried to return the gesture as much as he could and he’d felt particularly daring when his fingers had grazed hers on purpose for no reason when they were working back-to-back.
After that, she was gradually becoming bolder and, he realised, she was definitely teasing him.
He had zero complaints.
The innocent touches and lingering moments came to an end when he’d been crouching down to count something and he felt her breath on his ear asking for the pen. A shiver slivered down his spine before he’d snapped up to his feet and fought down the urge to stutter.
She’d giggled, before pretending nothing had happened, like she hadn’t just sent his head spinning.
Whatever game they were playing, it was truly afoot. She’d made their previous interactions look like child play.
She was everywhere.
A hand on his back.
Breath hot on his neck.
Body leaning over his shoulder.
He’d had to recount the sugar twice already and he still had no idea what the final number was. His brain had melted out of his ears long ago and all that was left in its place was Nami.
“I think you missed one, Sanji-kun,” she said, voice light and playful that he knew she was joking. Her voice was closer than he’d expected, despite the little game they’d been playing.
He turned, still crouched down and he’d expected her to be in a similar position until he came face to face with her thighs. He imagined he looked like a gaping fish but his brain was elsewhere as his eyes slowly travelled up her body. From the full of her hips to the swoop of her waist and he settled longer on her bikini clad breasts. She had a new one on, a pale blue that matched her jeans. She looked phenomenal in it and he had to tear his eyes away far sooner than he wanted to.
When he reached her eyes, she was already looking at him, eyebrow quirked and amusement over her features. She was clearly more than aware of his ogling and he took it as a positive sign that she didn’t leave.
He cleared his throat, trying to dispel any tension and stood. Whilst there wasn’t a lot of space to move around, she was a step closer than she had to be and he fought the urge to fidget.
“I’m done, how are you getting on?” She asked, nonplussed by his silence or proximity.
And whilst he’d heard her, his brain wasn’t functioning properly, if at all, and she was so pretty. Really pretty. And that hair that he wanted to move was still there.
Unable to form a decently structured sentence, he wordlessly showed her his paper but she wasn’t angry with his half-completed rack.
She looked up from the piece of paper and he wasn’t sure what he expected but it wasn’t silence. Nor the way she eyed him. From his chest, they slowly swept upwards, lingering on his shoulders and lips until she as looking into his eyes. He hadn’t seen that look in her eye before and it made his palms moisten and his breath shorten. The way she looked at him made him feel naked, like she was looking through him. He wondered if that was how he’d just looked at her.
There was a tense moment and his brain was running to fill the silence, until she relieved him. “Do I make you nervous?” She was fighting down a smile and he suspected it was because she already knew the answer.
“Ah, no.” That was a lie. “… well,” he tacked on, not knowing how to explain. He didn’t want to offend her.
“You didn’t seem to have a problem in the kitchen two weeks ago.”
It was a statement but he still answered it like a question.
“You know, heat of the moment.”
With the little distance between them, she managed to take a step forward and there was nowhere for him to go but lean heavily against the racking. Internally, he was grateful for it being bolted down.
She leaned forward, closing what little space there was and he could feel her chest press into his. With a hand on his lapel, she lowly asked, “Do I need to get you back in the moment, little eggplant?”
His eyes bulged and he wheezed, her offer taking his mind straight to the gutter, despite the childish name that sounded sinful coming from her mouth. He felt like he was going to faint with her just this close and at most, he thought he’d be able to cope with kissing but more than that? It made his pulse quicken.
Her hand burned on his chest and his eyes darted around her face, trying to figure out if she was joking. It’d be fine if she was, but he’d rather know before he made more of a fool out of himself.
“You’ve been very respectful these past two weeks,” she noted observationally, disregarding his silence, and then her eyes lidded, “you can touch me you know.”
He nodded, because that was all he could whilst he tried not to hyperventilate, and although he understood, his arms stayed locked at his sides. Now would’ve been the perfect time to have a cigarette, he needed something for his hands to do. It took her chuckling and moving his arm for him to actually touch her. He instantly missed her palm on his chest but it was short-lived when she moved his hands to sit low on her waist and his fingers twitched on reflex. Her skin was warm and soft and he already wanted to spend his time mapping the flare of her hips.
His attention was caught again when not one but both hands returned to his chest. She leaned in, so close he could count the individual lashes on her eyes and feel her breath warm against his lips.
“Do you want to kiss me?” She all but whispered yet the words echoed in his brain like she’d shouted.
When he met her gaze, all traces of teasing were gone and in its place was something else. It was open and raw and it took him a second to realise it was vulnerability. It was enough to knock the dumbfoundery out of him.
He nodded.
“Yes.”
Even to his own ears he sounded winded.
Her eyes warmed at his response and it might be his new favourite thing to watch.
Their noses brushed, sliding as their heads tilted and he kept his eyes open for a moment longer to watch hers close.
When their lips touched, it felt like time had suspended, the seconds turning into minutes and he was a fool for not using every opportunity up until now to do this. Her lips were soft and he was delicate, savouring the drawn-out kiss to ingrain the moment in his brain.
His lips moved and time restarted as he let a shaky breath through his nostrils. Her hands slid from his chest up to his shoulders and into his hair. He tightened his hold around her, moving from her waist to her back to draw her in and she reciprocated in kind.
They exchanged a series of kisses, from lingering and long to small and sweet. They were finding their tempo and he never wanted to stop.
She tried to pull away and a desperate sound bubbled from his throat as he chased her lips, successfully drawing her into another kiss.
It was short lived when she pulled away properly but he couldn’t be disappointed when their foreheads rested against each other’s and he was treated to the view of a thoroughly kiss Nami. Her lips were slightly swollen and he had to resist the urge go back in.
Instead, he did the next best thing by grazing their noses, rubbing them together and in that moment, he realised it might just be as good as kissing her. Her cheeks flushed prettily and her eyes crinkled and he returned her smile, feeling breathless. She was ethereal.
“I couldn’t figure you out,” she started, fingers curling in his hair at the nape of his neck and his thumb brushed across the dimple on her lower back in encouragement, “I didn’t know if you wanted to take things slow, which is fine, or if you were nervous.”
He was right, she had been testing the waters, trying to figure him out. And when she had, she’d tried to tease him into action.
His eyes flicked back down to her lips when they curled into a smile.
“But then you kept staring and you’re not subtle at all.”
He laughed lightly, looking back at her eyes and apart from amusement, there was a curiosity there.
“You’re beautiful,” he breathed out, like that explained everything and for him, it did. But he continued. “And I’ve wanted this for so long, that I can’t quite believe that I can do this now and I don’t want to mess this up.”
“You’re not going to mess this up. I fell for you how you are and I knew what I was signing up for.” She smiled, genuine and happy.
His nerves had still been there but they were replaced by giddiness at her words.
Feeding from his new found confidence, he brushed the hair from her face like he’d wanted to this whole time, tucking it behind her ear to then cup her jaw. She tilted her head, leaning into his touch and his thumb mapped her cheekbone in a slow caress.
Using his hand, he drew her into a slow kiss and he relished the easy way she responded.
“Besides, now you get act on your thoughts,” she told him, breaking their kiss to give him the news.
Her eyes darkened and before he could respond, she was tugging on his tie to pull him back in. There had been nowhere else for her to move, she was already pressed up against him until he parted his legs and she wasted no time filling the small gap. His thighs bracketed her hips and it was more intimate, it changed the mood between them.
Gone were their sweet kisses and instead, their lips slid together firmly as they found their feet.
So far, their kisses had been closed mouth but when her tongue came out to tease at his lips, he couldn’t hold back the moan from the back of his throat. He’d tasted her oranges before but it didn’t compare to when he tasted it on her.
With one hand on her cheek, the other was at her waist, carefully touching the exposed skin there, already feeling far too risky. Well, until her hand detached from his shoulder to push at the hand on her waist until it sat dangerously as the edge of her bikini.
He was glad for the racking that he could lean on behind him because his legs felt like they’d turned into jelly.
“That’s what you wanted, right?”
He nodded dumbly, brain only producing white noise as his finger flexed across her sensitive skin and she shivered. He felt a shot of adrenaline, he’d caused that reaction - it was almost heady.
“Don’t overthink it, I’ll say if I don’t like something.” And then she was kissing him again.
It was like the gun at the starting line had gone off because there were hands everywhere. His hand was not moving from her breast, not when he’d been given an enthusiastic shove and he’d spent his time cupping her, fingers playing around the sensitives skin and fabric. He drunk down her breathy moans enough times now to know his touch was very welcome.
Her hands were at his shoulders, pushing his jacket out of the way to sit at his elbows and then they were running down his sides, over his shirt to map out his abs. This was not how he’d expected his day to go but he was thrilled at the turn.
It was so hot in the pantry but he couldn’t get enough as they kissed frantically and their hands didn’t know where to go next. He realised belatedly that this was a make out session and kicked himself that they could have been doing this much, much sooner.
As much as he didn’t want to part from her lips, the desire to kiss down her neck was stronger and he was glad he did because her arms tightened around him, trying to merge them into one. He helped when the hand at her jaw skimmed down until it clutched at her rear and he couldn’t imagine anything better than this moment.
Her neck was sensitive going by the sounds she produced and he made it a personal challenge to find a spot better than the last until-
“Little eggplant,” she moaned but then a second later, “Too much?”
“Not from you,” he murmured against the delicate skin of her neck and it was true. He’d settled into that far quicker than he’d expected and honestly, he’d be into any nickname she gave him.
She laughed breathily as it turned into a moan. “We could’ve been doing this for a lot longer,” she panted.
“I’ll make up for lost time, I promise.” And now they were on the same page, he would. He wasn’t missing out on any more of this.
“I’m sure you will.” Her hand was back in his hair, soothingly playing with the strands. “Although I’m not sure how accurate your count was, so maybe we should start again.”
“I’d stopped counting ages ago,” he admitted, pulling away from her neck to look at her.
“Was it around the sugar? That’s when you started getting jumpy.” She kissed him afterwards, short and sweet to let him know she was teasing.
“We can use inventory counting as code for this instead,” he said enthusiastically, wiggling his eyebrows at her as his hand slipped into the back pocket of her jeans. He still felt the thrill when she let him.
“I’m pretty sure half the crew already think that when we’re in the kitchen together. Why do you think we get left alone so much?”
Huh. He hadn’t thought about that. “No complaints here, it means I get you all to myself.”
They were winding down which was probably a good idea considering they’d been in here for quite a while and whilst the crew may give them a wide birth, nothing would stop a rampaging Luffy. Even that threat didn’t stop him from pulling her into one last slow kiss.
She righted his jacket afterwards, smoothing along his shoulders to get rid of any wrinkles and when her hands travelled down his arms, he caught them to hold her hands.
“Would you like to help me with dinner?” He brought one of her hands up to place lingering kiss to the back of it.
She hummed at the move; eyes warm again. “Sure and we can finish the count later.” It sounded like an innocent suggestion but her tone was mischievous.
He couldn’t wait.

Could you tell I didn’t want this to end?
I love teasing Sanji; he makes it so easy and it’s so fun!
Please excuse any errors.
Thanks for reading.

Yaay I get to ask you stuff!
2. Most hated character?
3. Favorite romantic ship with Shachi? And with Bonney?
16. If you could change one thing in One Piece (the story or the world), what would it be?
ask away sensei~ I am prepared to answer all.
BUT BEWARE ALL WHO ENTER!!
This will end up long winded and preachy just like my tags and fic comments.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
2. Most hated character?
believe it or not it’s not Blackbeard lol. I’m actually kind glad he exists and while I wish we had seen more of Thatch (it’s crazy he literally has like TWO panels in the manga and he’s super duper popular throughout the fandom, it’s so great). I hate quite a few characters, mostly because they suck or they pissed me off, but my top two are Nami and Bartholomew Kuma.
Why Nami? She’s kinda.... meh to me. Don’t get me wrong, I like that there are some normies in the plot that aren’t just naturally superhuman like Zoro and Sanji (but then we learn it’s haki and biological experimentation). Usopp’s a normie (his ammo is not), Tashigi and Kuina seem pretty normal to me (just very skilled with swords). Bartolomeo is pretty normal (he just has a janky devil fruit). I’m not really sure what it is, I had already disliked her before I discovered them diehard Nami haters (are they even still around, I never followed any of that). She was cool at first but I think the timeskip ruined her for me. Hard to explain. Hatred for Nami 7/10.
Bartholomew Kuma........ Kuma Kuma Kuma. Where the fuck do I start with this? I’ve had blow ups with Cyriusli about this a few times whenever his ass popped back up in the story line or in rando memes. I didn’t mind him in Thriller Bark, thought he was a good add-in to the whole ‘fuck around and find out’ bits. I love the memes of Zoro figuring out that his sacrifice was pointless because Kuma wasn’t really going to kill his boss’ son. Those are hilarious! It was during the time skip when we learned about Kuma, about him being a Revolutionary, when Ivankov got mad in the flashback, when we saw him guarding the Sunny, when he was a slave to the Celestials. It actually took me a couple of years and some talks with Cyriusli until I realized that Kuma planned all of this. How I didn’t notice before I have no clue, but everything he did, he did just full intention. He made deals with Vegapunk to experiment on him (consent), he sent the Straw Hats to islands that were perfect for their growth (you think he knew Sanji hated okama or was he just thinking “oh this boy is a cook, Iva-chan has all these amazing recipes he made for us before, this young cook will benefit from this” and just sent Sanji’s homophobic ass off to Twirling Heart Island. I also think he knew full well about Zoro’s plans to fight Mihawk so that must have been a last attempt at being a troll before becoming a mindless drone). And his last wish before losing all control was to protect the Sunny. What the serious fuck Kuma? How are you benefiting from this?? This is where I get mad. Why didn’t you tell Ivankov and Inazuma (oh btw I ship KumaZuma)? Why the lies? Why the deceit? Who are you trying to protect? I asked all these questions and thought of something.
NEW THEORY: He sent Franky to one of Vegapunk’s abandoned labs... He sent Franky to learn ALL ABOUT Vegapunk’s experiments. Bastard is banking on Franky being able to turn him back. That’s what it is. At first maybe he didn’t see a way out, but then he saw Franky and the Sunny at Thriller Bark, and of course he follows the news and learned about the new crewmate, he knows what Franky’s capable of. He finally agreed to Vegapunk’s terms and gave up, hoping the Straw Hats might save him. Now that’s a huge gamble but we all know Franky is a man of honor and might volunteer to do it. My hatred for Kuma went from 10/10 to 8/10, but I still don’t like him.
3. Favorite romantic ship with Shachi, or Bonney?
ho ho ho, before I got into KilGuin I was shipping Penguin with Shachi, and Killer with Bonney. I think the whole KilBon came from some old fanart when we were first introduced to the Supernova and also the fact that his fave food is pasta, and her fave food is pizza. I just imagined them owning an Italian resto together and said that’s the ship, done. Not the case anymore because I see Bonney as more of a lesbian or bisexual, but cares more about food than sex so it is was it is with her. I shipped Penchi because I liked the idea of them being childhood friends and they share a room in the sub and while they might not be exclusive to one another, they do often do dirty stuff together as a mutual “I scratch your back you scratch mine” kinda thing but they’re too close and too stupid to admit any real romantic feelings to the other. But they’re fine, they go to brothels together and dabble in the occasion threesome. [These are very old ideas, not sure if I’ll continue this when I write my monster fic.]
16. If you could change one thing in One Piece (the story or the world), what would it be?
As mentioned earlier I would have liked to see more of Thatch and who he was as a person. It’s confirmed that he’s a chef but I think we all deserve to see his talents showcased. Also how he interacted with the crew. Lot’s of fics and art depict him being super childish and playing pranks with Ace, making fun of Marco (aka Whitebeard’s parrot lol), and dancing with Izou. I love how the fandom made him into a real person but I crave to see him in official work.
I’d also like to see passed villains come back to the main plot. We see Foxy come back twice in fillers and in some movies, Crocodile came back in Impel down, Buggy is always around the lovable idiot. But I want to know more about Morgan and Klahadore, where did they go? What about Don Krieg? Did Mihawk chop him up and dump his body? What about Gin? We see Gin so much in fanfic, even in new released fics but he’s not been back since in the manga. What will happen if Morgan and Helmeppo meet again? Jango became a marine and I bet Morgan became a pirate lol.
SPOILERS: I think Eneru should make an appearance again with the happenings in the latest chapters.
In the world? Not sure... I theorize gravity is lower on OP Earth than ours, just by a little bit. Just enough to make us jump higher and fall slower but not affect our health too much, as the atmosphere will thin out a bit and it will be more difficult to breathe. (I imagine someone from our world would die if they go to Skypiea). (I was really excited to see this visualized in the new film Bubble, it’s on Netflix if you want to watch it~) so if this isn’t the case then i would change it to this.
My SO theorizes that the Void Century is like the missing history here in the Philippines. When the Spaniards came, they stayed for 333 years and they destroyed a lot of indigenous landmarks, tribes and nearly erased our mythology. There’s a lot that has been lost but luckily the Spanish didn’t go everywhere (we got over 7000 islands). It’d be cool if this was the inspiration (also Gray Terminal’s pollution is based on Manila).

Is there any good one piece fanfic that you would reccomend to read?
SO MANY LETS GO
“stared at the sun and the sun smiled back and called itself pirate king (or: loyalty, on the high seas)” - by grainjew, a loyalty focused series of oneshots that absolutely devastate me every time I read it. My favorites are but the eternal pose points East (Lech L’cha)” and “a certain calmness” and - okay if I list anymore I’ll just list the entire series oops. Highly recommend!
In Which Higuma Doesn't Get To Get Drunk, Even Though He Really, Really Wants To - also by grainjew, Luffy goes back in time and everyone bullies higuma, delightful one shot, 2.5k.
The King's Will - my last rec (for now) by grainjew, a one shot focusing on Rayleigh and Luffy training on Ruskaina, and the application of conquerors haki, 2.3k, very, very good.
How it Should have Healed - by Wordlet, 36k, a hurt comfort series about Luffy’s numerous injuries over the years, and his crew taking care of him. Extremely sweet, hurts my heart, luffy please learn to take care of yourself, 100/10 reread all the time.
Coming Into Focus by DemonsLOver, 4k, focusing on Luffy’s trauma after Marineford, EXTREMELY good, I reread this one a lot as well.
Being there - by chali, 45k, another Luffy post Marineford fic that I love, focuses on his trauma and wounds left over in varying aspects and with each individual crewmate.
wish by spirit and if by yes - by midnightluck, 32k, in which sabo and ace reunite and they may have some issues but everything turns out alright in the end.
more under the cut!
Chasing Flowers by taizi - 4.7k, the Strawhats leave out gifts for luffy and he just has to follow, outsider pov, one of my absolute favorites of taizi’s fics!! Actually just gonna say rn go read all of taizi’s one piece fics, everything is so very good.
Already Forever by taizi - 1.8k, another of taizi’s fics that devastate me, nami realizing that the way luffy works will never be understood by any one else, really, really, really sweet.
Sea Shanties by Milo - 13k, luffy focused series of one shots, and the first one devastates me. zoro/luffy but it’s not romantic just platonic and this made me cry 100%, its just. So soft. Chapter 2 is with brook annd chapter 3 is with shanks and oh,,,, oh its so good. One of my absolute favorites of all time.
Twin Flames by SoccerSarah01 - 66k, a Marineford fix-it in which Sabo remembers, he and Ace call themselves not just brothers but twins, and everything changes. This is by Sarah whom I love and I 100% cannot rec this fic enough its so, so, so good. asl brother focused and the way the brothers are written im just the watery eyes emoji.
I'll be by your side (forever, always) by SoccerSarah01 - 1.5k this also by Sarah is another fix-it in which Luffy takes the blow for ace, and there aftermath and it hurts but ohh,,, its so sweet
Wind Beneath My Wings by SoccerSarah01 - 11.8k, last rec for me rn by Sarah, essentially the asl brothers celebrate Makino’s birthday and everything is good and wonderful and soft <3
Rising suns, free waters by Amazaria - 5k, vivi and shanks talk at mariejeoise fic how can you not fall for that like. Oh god the concept is so good, and amazaria executed it perfectly!!! 100% recommend, stays very true to the characters, and their like for one straw hat luffy.
Serendipity and other ordinary miracles by Amazaria - 2k, also by Amazaria, Straw Hat loyalty and discussion of dreams thats just so, so, so good. it hurts my heart, but luffy loves his crew and they love him so everything is okay.
All that we've yet to lose (burning, burning bright before us) by Amazaria - 1.9k, usopp and Gear 2’s effects on Luffy, dear god this makes me cry, like. Holy shit. Also some very good nami + zoro bonding in the background like!!! cries.
Who Knows (what could happen) by Chromi - 87k, the only unfinished fic on here but im putting it because HOLY SHIT! Essentially the journey of Ace and the Spades from Sixis to the Moby Dick, Ace/Deuce incredibly good writing I cannot stress that enough and also pining. So much pining. Deuce you are so gay. This fic is very lovingly and well written, does err on the more mature side than the rest of the fics I have listed here (just look at the tags) but not explicit by any means. Chromi also has like. Tons more ace/deuce fic, and I highly recommended checking out her Take My Breath Away [Tumblr SFW Prompt Fills] series!
Synthesis by KBstories - 4k, in which even Luffy has a breaking point and that breaking point Is sabo, but his friends won’t let that happen. I reread this fic so much and it’s so fucking good like all of KBstories like,,, cries??
I have so much more but I already procrastinated on the stuff I have to do today by writing this so - if u want more come back for round 2 and send another ask - in addition, check out the bookmarks of all these authors! I guarantee that you’ll find all the fics I would have recced that way haha. Enjoy!
(Also - Im sure u know as u sent me this ask, but I am also on ao3! My big works include Sea of Monsters, in which the east blue is the weakest sea because it is the demon sea, crown the king (with bloody flowers) in which luffy has hanahaki for the ocean, mother mother ocean (I have heard you call) in which luffy has the voice of all things from a young age, make a choice (turncoat hero), in which garp chooses his grandsonns over justice, and dearest brother (who you are) in which ace and sabo remember inn Alabasta and everything is okay. You can find my ao3 at Whirlybird70!)

How ASL Bros React To Getting Married To You
Tumblr media
A/N : well, I reallyyy want to write a nice long fic but like.. life man. I’m on spring break and have work all week and with my sleep problems 😭 just enjoy this please c:
Summary : what the asl brothers wedding would be like.
-
Luffy
“Woah! You look awesome, [Name]!”
So cheery and wholesome.
Zoro is his best man, ( much to Sanji’s dismay )
EVERYONE is there, every single person he’s ever met is there so it’s crowded and you basically had it outside, in Foosha Village, though he wanted it to be on the ship.
All of the girls Luffy’s met is responsible for your appearance, they all helped you on your big day.
Some of the marines were invited, of course.
Luffy’s best mans/groom mans ( idk) ( other than Zoro ) consists of Sabo, Ace, Sanji, Usopp, Franky, Brook, Law, Shanks and Koby.
Your bridesmaids consist of Nami, Robin ( maid of honor ), Perona, Tashigi, Vivi and Makino. ( shirahoshi and others didn’t have too much room to stand by you because of the guests so they just sat in their respective seats.)
Before it officially started, there was a lot of tension so separation in seats were needed. Big Mom’s crew is sitting on the left back, Marines in the front right, Law’s, Kid’s and Shanks and other pirates are put in the right back, and everyone else Luffy knows is in the front right.
Few are still in shock because of the fact that LUFFY is getting married before them.
A lot of yelling and laughter from everyone is around but as soon as the classic music is playing in the background, everyone shuts up and turns to face the back, where you’re walking with Garp.
Old man Garp is the one taking you, and even he is full of tears from the fact that his own grandson is getting married.
“You take care of my dumb ole’ grandson, you hear? If he ever becomes too much of an annoyance, just knock him a few times in the head.”
And when you finally reach him, everyone is quiet and has the proudest smiles on their faces. Their Luffy is all grown up.
His bright, radiating grin is plastered and he is pretty overwhelmed but right now, you’re distracted by his handsome look in his suit.
Of course, he has shorts instead of long dress pants but he still looked handsome regardless.
Vows are said, rings are given and you smile at Luffy as the minister ( Sengoku ) questions your commitment.
“Do you, [ Name LastName ] take this complete fool, Monkey D. Luffy, as your everlasting husband and, future pirate king?”
Chuckles are heard, and you couldn’t suppress a giggle either. “I do.”
“I see. I wish you luck on this journey. Luffy, you may now kiss the bride.”
Claps are heard around as Luffy grins. “About time!” He cheers and pulls you by your hands, quickly smashing your lips together in a kiss.
“Congrats, Luffy!”
“Not bad, Straw Hat.”
“Where’s the beer? Time to party!”
“Alright, Luffy! Woo!”
Music is quick to break out as everyone is celebrating and cheering.
You and Luffy already cut the cake, ( it took you a lot of force to make Luffy not shove his face in the cake and just CUT IT. )
The giant cake made by Sanji and the Big Mom family, was shared for everyone and there was still plenty left.
And it was just a fun time with everyone. You even threw your bouquet(?) behind you already and it seems the next to be wed was Tama!
Clearly some of the women weren’t too happy to see the little grow becoming married before them but it was a nice laugh.
The night goes on and it’s getting late. Guests are leaving after wishing the two of you well and you two head in for your suite that Nami booked as her present.
“It feels normal. I thought this was some big special thing, why is it such a big deal again?” Luffy questions, forgetting what the girls had told him the several nights before about weddings.
You smile gently and set the last wrapped gift to the side with the others, taking a glance at the shimmering ring on your left hand.
“Because,” you spin around and face your husband, reaching over and taking off his straw hat that he kept on.
“It swears our connection and commitment to each other. Why do you think Shanks married Makino, despite their long distance relationship?”
Luffy offers his gentle smile, seemingly more relaxed at the mention of the two of the most important people in his life, out of many.
“Because they love each other?” He guesses calmly, tilting his head and you nod, giggling at his black hair that swayed.
“And I love you.” You whisper, leaning closer and felt Luffy’s arms enveloping you in a tight hug, his face nuzzling into your neck.
“I love you, [Name].”
And he leans back, connecting his lips on yours.
-
Ace
“Oh..wow..”
Oh boy, did the Whitebeard crew go BIG.
I have a feeling that Ace would want something a little normal or smaller perhaps, just inviting his personal friends and family, and maybe a few people he met along the way of his journey.
He’s a friendly, outgoing person but for a personal occasion, it’s best to stick with the people you’re closest to.
But he wasn’t complaining when he saw the large äss party, feast and the important people in his life showing up.
Sabo, Luffy and his crew, Shanks, Makino, all of his brothers, members of his old crew, Garp, he was thrilled to see everyone!
The wedding was held on Whitebeard’s ship, of course. It wasn’t too fancy or grand but still pretty large and the ship was right in the middle of the sea.
Ace is all dressed up handsomely in his suit, with the help of Marco, Vista and Izo. His hair isn’t too messy and just styled neatly.
You were dressed beautifully in your gown/suit, with the help of the nurses, Nami, Robin and Izo.
There was a bit of trouble with seating but naturally, many people stood up anyways and were quite busy throwing confetti and other things at you, even if it was a wedding.
Whitebeard is taking you down the aisle, it’s a little bit difficult but he still did, and you can bet he’s excited to have a daughter/son that will help watch over Ace’s dumbass self.
“Rough him up real good, take good care of my stupid son. And call me Pops!”
When Ace sees you walking down, he’ll admit, he’s teary. He’s actually found love, someone like him.. and he’s about to be married to you, the most amazing, attractive, and sweetest person he’s met.
You look so amazing in your outfit, he’s in tears. He’s so lucky.. Marco has a hand on his shoulder and patting his back. “Congratulations, Ace. You deserve this.”
Wiping his tears with his finger, he nods and exhales, holding the widest, warmest smile he could muster.
He was going to love you and protect you all of his damn life, that’s for sure.
The minister is actually Vista! Ace’s best man is Marco and his groomsmans all include Thatch, Luffy, Jozu, Izo, and Haruta!
“Do you, [Name Lastname] take this young kid as your loyal, lawful and everlasting husband?”
“Really?” Ace pouts at Vista’s joke and chuckles are heard, even yours.
“I do, Vista. I’ll make sure he grows.” You giggle as Ace sighs in exasperation.
“Very well. I now pronounce you husband and wife, Ace, kiss your damn bride already.”
“My pleasure.” Ace grins and he’s quick in pulling your wrist towards him, and spinning you into a dipping motion before connecting your lips together in a kiss.
Whistles and catcalls are heard as loud cheers and applause are made.
“Go Ace!”
“Alright, Fire Fist!”
“Better not lose her, Ace!”
Ace rolls his eyes at the comments from his brothers and pulls you back up with a smile. He’s a little glad he didn’t fall asleep midway because of his narcolepsy.
Party immediately breaks out, Sanji aids Thatch in the kitchen to bring out everything and it’s a long night of dancing, boozing and more.
Ace is just off with the guys, having fun and celebrating while you are off with the women, talking about experiences and such.
And when Ace finally finds you and pulls you two away to his room for some alone time, he pulls you close.
“Well, Mrs. Fire Fist, what do you want to do first?~”
His arms are around your waist as he secures you towards him, a cheeky smile on display on his face.
“Not sure, what did you have in mind?” Playing coy, you shrug and tilt your head, turning away from his face which he pouts and uses his hand to force his back to him.
Pecking your lips, Ace smiles again and leads you to his bed. “I have an idea, if you’re up to it?” He wiggles his brows, making you laugh.
He jumps onto the bed, pulling you with him so you were on top. “Well?”
“Oh! Cuddles, I get it! Sure, I’m tired anyways.”
Ace groans at you, heaving a sigh and he whines. “Come on, [Naaamee]!”
You just giggle and sit up, repositioning yourself on his lap and straddled him. “Fine, fine. You’re lucky it’s our special day today.” You hum.
“Oh? So you don’t want to do this after today is over?” Ace muses, smirking a bit since he knew the answer.
You puff your cheeks out at the thought of not having sex with Ace anymore, but you weren’t going to back down. “..Nope!”
Knowing the truth, Ace chuckles and begins to grind upwards into you.
“Alright, I guess I better make this a special memory to remember.”
-
Sabo
“You look incredible, [Name]..”
The most average, normal one. It’s traditional, smaller than most would be, and it’s for personal guests only.
So close members of the revolutionary army, his brothers, Garp and Makino were the only ones invited. If Luffy wanted, he could bring his crew but that’s it!
It’s traditional, so it was held inside a chapel, of course. It wasn’t anything special, everything was set up already and prepared for a small group so it was great.
Sabo is in a dashing, handsome suit like Ace was, but somehow has a much more charming, princely appearance. He helped himself in the appearance, with smallest help of Inazuma.
Your dress too! Somehow it’s more Royal appearing and your veil resembles a crown in a way. Koala and Iva helped you out in this!
Sabo’s best man is actually Ace! The strongest brotherly bond overpowered the thought of having Kuma, Iva or Luffy as a best man, but fortunately, they didn’t seem to mind, since they were groomsmans anyways. Iva being both bridesmaid and groomsman.
Ace was pretty teary and honored, and felt so excited.
The one who takes you down the aisle is Dragon. He’s a little awkward about it at first but he is quite proud of Sabo, even if he doesn’t openly show it.
“Take good care of him, alright?”
“I will.” You assure, thanking him when you finally reach the point of Sabo’s side.
The whole time, Sabo is staring at you in awe, feeling speechless. How did he manage to get someone as beautiful and wholehearted as you?
He can’t contain his wide grin and excitement, his hands just a hint clammy from the nervousness of possible rejection. But he knew you loved him. Because he loves you.
“Someone looks handsome.” You whisper in a giggle and Sabo chuckles. “Not compared to the beauty you have right now.” He winks.
The minister is actually Kuma, of course. Kuma was the obvious choice. Kuma took the position with gratitude.
“[Name Lastname]. Do you take Chief of Staff Sabo, as your lawful, loyal and everlasting husband?”
“I do.”
“Congratulations. I now pronounce you husband and wife, Sabo, please do the honor of kissing your bride.”
Sabo is the most natural approach, taking a step forward and cupping your cheeks in his hands and pulling you forward, for a kiss.
Cheers and applause are made and heard, and Luffy, being the brother he is, pulls out a loud confetti popper and pulls it, it shooting it out everywhere like fireworks.
“Congratulations, you two!”
“Alright, time to get drinking!”
“Better not let this get in the way of your missions..”
“Luffy, how’d you even get that?!” Sabo widens his eyes and he laughs. “Franky made it for me! He said it’ll be super, for the wedding!”
“Geez..”
You can’t help the laugh that escapes your lips and Sabo finds himself laughing alongside you and the whole place is soon filled with laughter and cheer.
It’s a small family party but it was still pretty chaotic regardless, and Sabo makes sure to take you outside for some fresh air when it becomes nighttime.
“Hey, feeling okay?”
Taking a seat on the bench nearly, Sabo sits beside you and you nod, immediately leaning into his shoulder.
“It’s overwhelming, I guess..” the warm smile that spreads your lips is contagious as he does the same when he sees it. “But,”
You take a look at your ring finger, that held the beautiful silver ring and diamond. “I couldn’t be happier with today. I’m married to the love of my life.”
Sabo smiles gently and closed his eyes, leaning against the backrest and let the moonlight light against his face.
“I am, as well. I couldn’t be any luckier to be married to you now..” taking your hand in his, he intertwines your fingers and brings your hand up to kiss.
He kisses your ring finger specifically and hums.
“Thank you.. for being with me.. I love you, [Name].”
“Of course. Thank you for being with me. I love you, Sabo.”
