ohhh another wipwednesday, i'm on a roll. zoro having a Not Great Day (taking place right after last week's post!) and luffy is here for a nice quiet moment before things (probably) go sideways. but that's fine, that's just how they do things. // text under the cut:

Luffy makes a soft sound in the back of his throat but does not speak. Does not ask Zoro what’s wrong, so he does not laugh and he does not lie. Minutes pass like that in silence, save for quiet breathing and water lapping at the sides of the tub and, distantly, against the sides of the ship. Luffy’s fingers twitch idly from where he has his forearms propped on his knees. He only has a split second to react when Zoro lashes out, wrapping an arm around his waist, and flopping them both to the side, onto the floor Franky sealed so they don’t have to worry about water damage. Luffy grunts at the impact, body absorbing the brunt of it though he matches the firmness of his grip. He does not fight his hold though—body pliant in some places and firm in others, and he braces an arm around his shoulders while his other hand falls to his hip. Where Zoro’s warm from his impromptu bath Luffy’s warmer, fingers dry and calloused where they dig into his skin. Sprawled out on the floor with his forehead pressed to his cheek, he can feel the rise and fall of his chest against his shoulder, the subtle clench of his jaw. “You’re gonna be late for breakfast,” Luffy says, breath against his ear and voice loud in the otherwise quiet. Impatience bleeds into his voice though, and Zoro braces himself for an errant limb to the jaw. He huffs a laugh into the column of his throat—Luffy wriggles at the sensation—but it isn’t as cruel as his last.
