(Part 2)
Tumblr media
First, gotta mention this because someone else will if I don’t: Victini appears at the front of the Unovan pokedex and has a ‘dex number of #000. Why am I bringing this up at the beginning of the review? I dunno, why is Victini at the beginning of the pokedex? These questions and more will not be answered.
Anyway, I do like Victini, for reasons I’ll get into in a moment... but I’ll admit, it never really felt like a mythical to me. I feel like legendaries need to fit in one of three categories: A) they look powerful, B) they have cryptid vibes, or C) they’re just a little messed up. Victini is pretty normal, it doesn’t really give off cryptid vibes (like, I can’t see this as a vague blur caught on video for half a second), and it’s pretty normal. In all honestly, if you handed this to me out-of-context and told me it was the final fire-type starter evo, I’d believe you. That doesn’t make it bad, but I do question if the design couldn’t have been used for a regular Pokemon instead.
The lore does fit, at least, with it able to create a limitless amount of energy in its body. I’ve heard some argue that Victini is supposed to represent a nuke, due to it appearing in Unova (Manhattan), creating limitless energy, the V for victory thing (which has war origins), etc. However, I personally doubt this was intentional. Pokemon is a Japanese game, and the bombings were a massive tragedy; unsurprisingly, Japan does not take them lightly, and I find it hard to believe a Japanese company would make a fun nuke Pokemon for kids to play with. (Plus it doesn’t line up with how the ‘dex says it can share the energy.)
What it is definitely based on however is usagi-ringo, i.e., a way of cutting apples to make bunnies that’s popular in Japan:
Tumblr media
It has little to do with anything outside of the V motif, but it makes for a fun concept regardless.
The victory theme is also very apparent; though it makes for a slightly weird concept given that the Pokemon’s theme is victory and you can still walk into battle with it and lose throughly (which, you know, is kind of a necessity). Weirdly enough, the ‘dex lampshades this; I’d assume this is a myth, but wouldn’t it be fairly easy to disprove/prove? Unless the implication is that no one has ever caught one in all of history, which seems unlikely.
Tumblr media
Anyway, while the themes are fine and I like the visuals as a whole (especially the huge ears), there are a few weird visual things going on with it. Like the random V line on the torso; why is it there if it’s not dividing anything? It’s like it was meant to have orange haunches or something and then they changed it and never removed the line.
Also, the butt-wings. Aside from them presumably being non-functional (because how else would it fly with them, other than butt-first), I don’t feel like they add much to the design other than really hammering down that V motif to an extreme. In some poses the wings look more like tail(s), which frankly would’ve worked much better:
Tumblr media
The haunches are also a bit too bulky, and the head is too big for my tastes (it might just be a me thing, but it tends to bug me when the head is the size of the entire rest of the body).
The design is fine as-is; but I can’t help but feel like it would’ve been cuter and more cohesive if you shrunk the head a bit, made the butt-wings a tail/two tails, reduce the haunches, and maybe make the lower body red to fit with that random line (or just remove it entirely).
Overall, Victini is fine; it’s cute enough and the apple-rabbit motif is charming. However, there’s a lack of focus in the design and even the concept to a lesser extent that makes it somewhat forgettable to most people. I feel like it would’ve worked better if they discarded the victory stuff entirely and just leaned into it being a weird little apple rabbit creature, but maybe that’s just me.

Omega!Saiki Kusuo x Alpha!Reader
Anon: Hiiii, I was delighted that you included Saiki K. on your list. Now yes, can I order a Saiki Kusuo x alpha reader, please? I have nothing in mind for now, just a few soft headcannons would be fine, please.
Anon:  omega saiki kusuo x alpha male reader ?🥺👉👈
Anon:  omega kusuo with alpha male reader? sfw and nsfw headcanons pls!!
(Heyyyy! Saiki K is so popular today and this is my favourite anime so I think you three have excellent taste. I re watched some episodes yesterday and remembered why I love him so much. I try my hardest to write gender neutral alpha reader so that it can be reader either way. N-SFW under cut. Enjoy~)
Warnings:
Tumblr media
Saiki is a very sweet omega but this isn’t obvious unless you’re close to him and you make an effort to notice his actions.
He expresses his affection in actions rather than in words and this is the most obvious when he’s in a relationship with an alpha.
His love language is acts of service.
He will help you with work, clean for you, stoically mother hen you when you’re sick etc.
And all he asks for in return is for you to take bugs outside for him.
Saiki doesn’t really like PDA in front of people he knows: his friends and parents are too nosy for him.
But if you’re out together in public, he’s happy to hold hands or have you rest your head on his shoulder.
Stay at home dates are Saiki’s favourite though. Watching old terrible films or playing video games, a blanket over both your laps is Saiki’s idea of an amazing date. A perfect date is much the same but ends with coffee jelly.
Saiki really likes the smell of both your scents mingling together but he’s too much of a tsundere to admit that and ask you to scent anything, which is why he always brings out a blanket when you hang out together.
He puts those blankets in the prime position in his nest.
As your relationship progresses, Saiki gets more confident initiating and accepting physical affection, but he’ll never ask for it verbally. He will simply start cuddling you, no words needed.
His favourite cuddling position is the half-spoon. He loves to rest his head on your chest, especially when he’s wearing his geranium ring. When he’s wearing it, he isn’t bombarded with the din of other peoples’ thoughts, and can rest while listening to your heartbeat.
He always feels less anxious when he’s wearing his geranium ring in your company. He trusts you to keep him safe (from his other friends mostly *cough*).
Kusuo has a very light florally scent. His scent isn’t normally very noticeable unless he’s feeling extremely strong emotions or he’s near or in heat.
His scent is very similar to his parents. His family’s scents are as follows:
Kuniharu (omega) - Very sweet flowers, almost like perfume. His scent is much more noticeable in comparison to his sons.
Kurumi (alpha) - Her scent is also a nature based one, but she smells like a forest after it’s been raining. She gets a lot of compliments on her scent.
Kusuke (omega) - His scent is very similar to Kusuo’s, but stronger. He always wears scent blockers though, so most people will never smell it.
Once you know about his powers, everytime your mind wonders you panic about whether Saiki heard you or not. He always gives the same little smile when he heard what you thought.
Saiki always finds it amusing when you get embarrassed after thinking dirty thoughts about him.
He doesn’t really like to use his powers too much, so he won’t like it if you ask him for things too much.
He loves to feel normal, and your relationship is the closest to normal he’s ever felt.
Dates like this were always so peaceful.
You and Saiki were wandering serenely around a nearby park, the chill of Winter clear in your visible breath. You watched some nearby children play in the snow with a gentle smile on your face. This was a lovely date.
You were staying with Saiki and his parents temporarily and Saiki demanded you both leave for a moment of peace. You couldn’t help but agree. His parents were lovely but you had to admit, the crying got a little much at times.
You were enjoying the comfortable silence with Saiki, even as you were slowly losing feeling in your hands. Jeez, it was cold.
“Here.”
You jumped at the sound of Saiki’s voice. He was holding out a hand for you to take, a light blush dusting his ears. He was the cutest.
You smiled and accepted the hand, basking in how warm he was.
‘Thank you.’ You thought, knowing he was listening to you.
He squeezed your hand tighter in response.
Silence was never uncomfortable with Saiki. That was one of the things you loved the most about him.
N-SFW Headcanons under cut (feat. Slightly!Older!Saiki)
Note: I write both male and female alphas with the same genitalia so this will be gender neutral.
Saiki is a sub leaning switch.
Most of the time, he is happy to let you take the lead, especially the first few times, but deeper into your relationship he gets quite a thrill from occasionally having his way with his alpha.
When he gets in these moods he likes to pin your hands above your head while he rides you. He smirks the whole time as well.
When he subs, he gets very wet, very quickly and this makes his so blushy.
When you first started this kind of relationship, it was very vanilla. Saiki won’t bring up new things to try, but if you introduce an idea, he’s normally willing to try it.
He would never say it out loud, but Saiki enjoys feeling powerless. He likes being tied up a lot but it requires a lot of trust for him (even if he could escape whenever he wanted).
This man looks phenomenal in black shibari ropes.
One of Saiki’s biggest kinks is mind-reading during sex.
Out loud dirty talk embarrasses him too much, but reading your dirty thoughts about him riles him up like nothing else.
Hearing how sexy you find him and how turned on you are makes him feel so hot.
Saiki doesn’t like being punished, but he enjoys some teasing.
He likes to be overstimulated, but it can be risky because he can and will lose control over some of his powers.
Accidentally collapsing two walls of your bedroom was a bit embarrassing for him.
His scent is the strongest when he’s in heat
Saiki always showers after sex (apart from when he’s in heat). He hates feeling sticky. He doesn’t mind if you join him though.
You absently scrolled through your phone as you watched Saiki play video games. You were both sprawled on your bedroom floor, Saiki’s favourite blanket draped over your laps. You huffed a breath, closing your phone, bored. Focusing lazily on the game, your mind began to wander to a more interesting topic, mainly your mate.
It was coming up to your one year mating anniversary. You almost growled thinking of the first time you mated. Your hands gripped the blanket as your thoughts began to go down a dangerous path.
He had moaned so prettily for you back then, too much of a sensitive virgin to even try and control himself. And my god was he wet. Your stomach clenched in need. You remember how soaked his nest was the first time you mated and you didn’t even make him squirt. How wet would he be if you made him do that?
‘Hmm,’ You thought. ‘Bet I could make him squirt.’
GAME OVER
You jumped as the automated voice echoed around the room. Saiki had lost the game. You turned to him.
“Better luck next...” You trailed off, distracted by the aggressive blush plastered on his face. “You okay?”
Saiki turned away from you, hands flexing under the blanket. Belatedly, you noticed something else under blanket. He was hard. You sniffed the air discreetly. Yep, he was definitely turned on but why would he...?
Oh god, he’d been reading your thoughts.
“Stay out of my head, Kusuo!” You whined, throwing a pillow from your bed at him.
He dodged the pillow easily.
“I don’t know why it’s my fault that you think so loudly.” He stated, his monotone voice more shaky than normal.
You raised an eyebrow at him: his shoulders were shaking. “Did you like what you heard?” You scooted closer to him, making sure to tickle his mating mark with your breath.
Saiki shivered, and that was all the invitation you needed. Easily, you pinned him to the floor, both of you still tangled in the blanket.
The floor wasn’t the most comfortable place, but neither you nor Saiki noticed for even a moment.

My Anime 9/10′s
With probably no spoilers cuz I don’t wanna talk too long about them zzz.
1. Fullmetal Alchemist
Tumblr media
YALL ALREADY KNOW THIS A 9/10. The only real reason this show is not a 10/10 is because it’s just a story that I’d never rewatch. There’s like 70 episodes, which is way too long for my short attention span, especially since I’ve seen it already. But yeah, by all accounts, this story is a masterpiece and is one of the only “shounen” anime’s that I genuinely enjoyed. No random sexualization. No dumb filler. All the characters have an actual purpose and role in the plot and everyone has their own morals and ideals that interact to make the story interesting. I couldn’t bring myself to really hate anyone, even the villains, because everyone was pretty well written. Also super satisfying ending that ties up everything properly without leaving me confused or upset. If you only watch a few anime in your life, Fullmetal Alchemist is pretty much a MUST WATCH to see a beautiful example of a modern classic anime as an artform. Also I should say that I really don’t like Hunter x Hunter (AN EXTREMELY CONTROVERSIAL OPINION BTW) but I love Fullmetal Alchemist so take from that what you will.
2. Parasyte: The Maxim
Tumblr media
Same kinda shit where you already know this a 9/10 for me. It’s just a very satisfying anime that doesn’t have random sexualization or random filler or anything like that. Ending is also very good and ties up the story in a way that doesn’t leave more questions but also allows the characters to have a “life” outside of the scope of the story. I think Parasyte, because of its more horror and psychological-esque vibes, counts as a seinen and not a shounen, so for more mature audiences. I also really liked how the story was successfully adapted to modern times since the manga is from the 80′s. I have actually rewatched this anime, but what stops me from giving it a 10/10 is a few things that I found kinda “stereotypical” that I don’t wanna discuss further too much cuz it’s spoilers. I still obviously really like this anime and highly recommend it.
3. Zankyou no Terror
Tumblr media
TBH, this anime is pretty hard for me to properly describe in a lot of words as to why I like it. The art was really pretty as well as the music, which was just straight up amazing. The cinematography of this anime is excellent as well, and a lot of scenes have that sense of being acted out by real people, as opposed to feeling completely drawn/animated. I was a teenager when this anime came out and I think a lot of the themes presented in the show really related to me. The show does kinda have some leftover questions when it ends that prevents me from rating it a 10/10, but I have such a soft spot for this anime. It’s from the same creator as Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop, and although those two animes are also very good, they did not impact me as much as this anime did. Recommended for people looking for idk something that gives off Inception vibes?? In the sense that it’s much more about its themes and its message more so than the believability of the events that occur.
4. Magic Kaito 1412
Tumblr media
THIS IS JUST A PERSONAL PREFERENCE BTW LOLOL I DON’T KNOW ANYBODY WHO’D PUT THIS AS A 9/10 ANIME. I JUST REALLY LIKED IT OKAY. It’s made by the same person who does Detective Conan but I like this a lot more because it’s a much shorter series and slightly more mature (more for teens than just straight up kids). I really liked the main guy, I think he’s funny and charismatic. He’s a pervert at times but Imma forgive that cuz of the 90′s. Idk it’s just a really fun anime that I don’t have to take seriously and can just watch and enjoy.
5. Mob Psycho 100 (season 1 AND 2)
Tumblr media
Imma put season two as slightly better than season one. So season one would be like a 9 and season two is like a 9.25 for me. Super super funny anime and I like it SO much more than One Punch Man. I liked that there was a good balance of serious moments, but you can definitely still count this anime as a comedy. I’m typically not the type to watch “comedy” but this anime genuinely had me laughing out loud, while also crying and freaking out right alongside the main character. The main guy is super great because he’s just this shy and sweet middle schooler, and it’s really interesting watching him balance trynna have a normal life while also using his powers for good and such. Apparently the anime was decently faithful to the manga and there’s apparently enough material for a third season so I’d be pretty stoked for a season 3, but season 2 ended on a pretty good spot and was satisfying. TBH, if I had the time, I’d probably rewatch both seasons and bump it up to a 10/10.
6. Vinland Saga
Tumblr media
This anime is just the first season of what I hopes to be a whole series that will be stay beautifully and faithfully adapted from the manga. As someone who read very far into the manga (but quit like years ago simply because I hate slow updates lol), I actually didn’t enjoy watching the anime at first. I was impatient and kept waiting for when like the “major” events would happen. So I watched like three episodes and quit. But when I had some free time, I decided to get stuck in and commit to watching the whole series and I was so pleasantly surprised with just how good it was. I was impatient but I needed to realize that there is no “filler” or like “wasted time” in the entire anime. I hadn’t read the manga in years, so so many things were only vaguely familiar but I think this helped me stay surprised and excited throughout the anime. I’m looking forward to the rest of the manga being adapted because it’s just a good Viking saga lolol. Major themes of stuff like growing up, violence vs. peace, what it means to be a good person, etc. Lots of blood and LOTS of violence like a LOT they are VIKINGS CMON but tbh not really any gore which I liked cuz gore makes me ughhhh. A very good watch and only a taste of an excellent story.
7. Demon Slayer
Tumblr media
It’s just Demon Slayer duhhh. Of course this a 9/10 for me. I don’t wanna write much just cuz the show is so popular. Just read a REAL review of this anime somewhere else lmaoooo. Also yes I did watch the movie in theaters and yes I liked it a lot as well mmkay. I’m mad hype for season two. My S/O doesn’t like Demon Slayer as much as me, but also has Hunter x Hunter as their all time favorite anime. Do with that information what you will lolol.
8. Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2
Tumblr media
Same shit as Demon Slayer. Just go read someone else’s review about why it’s so good lol. Also, unlike Mob Psycho 100, I can’t include all of the seasons in this, because I have very various opinions about how good/bad the other seasons were. But this season 3 part 2, was just plain and simply amazing. While I might not like each season equally, as a whole Attack on Titan is also a modern masterpiece of storytelling. Read the manga if you can.
9. Great Pretender
Tumblr media
I love this anime so much. Such a good and fun wild ride. The whole show is ridiculous but in a fun way. I’m a HUGE fan of heist films, so of course I absolutely enjoyed a heist anime. I’ve watched this show in sub AND dub, due to the fact that everyone is “technically” speaking English the entire time. If you’re a purist, just watch in sub OR dub cuz I did get confused here and there, especially when I would go back to compare language discrepancies.  Because basically I did this super high maintenance thing where I switched back to Japanese whenever the main character had flashbacks, since he’s ya know, Japanese. The dub also has this confusing thing where the first five minutes or so are still in Japanese, but switches to English when a little cue card on the screen goes “For the Viewers sake, everything from now on will be translated to Japanese.” It’s cuz in the sub, the inverse obviously happens where the characters are initially speaking broken English to each other, but for convenience sake, everything from that point on will be in Japanese. It’s confusing at first but I liked it cuz it just proved the whole international vibe of the show. It’s funny either sub or dub when they joke about how bad the main guy speaks English, cuz in the dub he’s speaking perfect English, while the sub has him not speaking English at all. But anyway, great anime that WOULD have gotten a 10/10 if not for the last episode. Like without spoiling ... WTF WAS THAT LMAOOOO. The anime as a whole is super wacky and zany but at least I could try to think it’s real life, but that last episode was just so unbelievable and bizarre and pulled my suspension of disbelief into the STRATOSPHERE that I just had to convince myself that this show takes place in some improbable alternate reality where something like what happened in the last episode is at least 5 percent possible CUZ HOW DID ANY OF THAT WORK LMAOOO??? Once again, great show, one of my absolute favorites, BUT THAT ENDING THOUGH WTF.
10. BNA
Tumblr media
Good super underrated anime that I don’t hear people talk about at all. If Beastars is anime Zootopia, then BNA is Disney Beastars lmaooo does that make sense? It’s a lot more fun and zany than Beastars and I liked it way more. Made by the same people who made Kill la Kill. I really like that more classic, animated “cheap” art style that the anime has, and I also really liked the plot of the story. Not a 10/10 cuz the show does leave a few unanswered questions at the end of it, but this show was such a fun and interesting ride. When I finished the last episode, I was left with a big smile on my face because I just genuinely enjoyed this anime. Recommended if you wanna watch something a little unique and more on the silly and wack side. Talks about some serious stuff, but luckily the show never takes itself TOO seriously, and remains overall lighthearted for a fun action/sci-fi show.

hanbin  has  been  at  masters  for  five  years  .  he  started  working  here  after  his  youtube  channel  expanded  ,  and  he  was  approached  to  create  his  own  cooking  content  for  masters’  youtube  channel  .
basically  ,  he  has  his  own  version  of  test  kitchen  ,  but  it’s  not  really  the  same  thing  .  he  makes  recipes  for  holidays  ,  celebrations  ,  and  is  constantly  showing  how  to  make  traditional  korean  dishes  (  would  not  be  surprised  if  he  has  a  ‘  cooking  with  my  mom  !  ’  type  series  )  .
gives  food  tips  too  like  which  wines  pair  best  with  certain  foods  or  how  to  make  the  most  out  of  your  first  hosting  gig  .  probably  has  a  video  where  he  shares  his  cooking  playlist  because  he  wants  you  to  get  in  the  mood  😌  .
probably  came  up  with  the  special  lunch  for  Daddy  Masters™  but  gets  ticked  when  he’s  asked  to  cook  it  because  does  that  man  know  a  schedule  ?  probably  not  .  [  ‘  we  were  on  a  break  !  ’  specifically  ,  hanbin2   was  on  his  lunch  break  .  ]
is  it  true  that  he  threw  an  iced  tea  in  his  ex’s  face  ?  absolutely  ,  and  he  has  no  problem  admitting  it  lmao  .  who  was  said  ex  ?  i  guess  we’ll  never  know  [  this  a  number  one  champion  sound  ]  .
probably  well  received  around  the  office  but  i  wouldn’t  be  surprised  if  people  disliked  him  .  it  could  be  his  off  putting  persona  or  honestly  the  simple  fact  that  he’s  got  a  lot  of  sass  and  no  ass  .
headcanons.
you  can  read  a  full  list  of  headcanons  HERE  ;  below  is  an  abridged  version  .
has  a  gyeongsang  dialect  from  living  in  busan  ,  and  honestly  . . .  that’s  hot  .  so  ,  when  he  speaks  in  korean  it’s  rather  strong  and  aggressive  /  pitch  is  vastly  different  from  other  parts  of  korea  .
i  literally  have  no  idea  how  to  explain  his  personality  other  than  by  using  his  moral  alignment  :  true  neutral  .  he’s  kinda  that  guy  who  knows  everything  but  won’t  tell  you  that  he  does  ?  did  he  eavesdrop  ?  maybe  ,  but  he  won’t  tell  you  that  .  he’s  largely  indifferent  to  a  lot  of  what  happens  around  masters  and  maybe  it’s  because  he’s  been  here  for  half  a  decade  ;  he’ll  just  make  sure  you  drink  water  if  you’re  drunk  and  crying  .
a  Dog  Father™  to  a  little  re:  big  goldendoodle  named  duri  .  he  is  most  definitely  judging  you  and  can  often  be  found  sunbathing  in  that  solarium  .
a  very  simple  man  when  it  comes  to  his  coffee  :  caffè  americano  or  an  espresso  macchiato  please  .  and  don’t  forget  the  butter  croissant  !
mostly  expressionless  . . .  like  i  really  have  no  idea  how  to  explain  how  he  looks  at  people  because  i  feel  that  stoic  is  too  harsh  of  a  word  .  if  you  wanna  know  how  he  feels  though  ,  he  has  extremely  expressive  eyes  .
he  won’t  admit  it  but  he  loves  hosting  .  office  potluck  ?  he’s  your  guy  .  having  a  conference  ?  he’ll  make  your  snacks  .  if  you’re  coming  over  he’ll  make  a  charcuterie  board  and  will  lie  saying  he  made  it  with  some  stuff  he  had  on  hand  (  but  that’s  a  lie  ,  he  went  to  the  grocery  store  and  obsessed  over  it  for  a  solid  three  hours  )  .
finds  joy  in  the  mundane  .  some  people  might  think  he’s  weird  because  he  loves  grocery  shopping  ,  and  heavily  judges  people’s  carts  because  processed  food  ?  yuck  !  he  won’t  say  that  to  your  face  though  he’ll  just  be  like  ‘  are  you  sure  you  wanna  buy  that  ?  ’  and  will  sneakily  replace  your  frozen  pizza  with  pizza  ingredients  hehe  .
that  being  said  don’t  take  him  grocery  shopping  with  you  NFUDNSFDS  .  he  gets  ticked  about  food  waste  ,  and  those  who  don’t  use  reusable  bags  .   probably  has  a  lil  garden  at  his  place  and  composts  !  is  angry  about  people  calling  a  chunk  of  cauliflower  a  steak  (  in  other  words  ,  don’t  to  it  )  !

Why I’m Complicated About Female Corrin
So I’ve had two people inquire about my Fates tier list and why I had female Corrin in the “complicated” tier, something I can imagine would be confusing since I’ve been very vocal about Corrin being one of my favorite characters in the franchise. Admittedly, this is something I’ve been meaning to speak about for a while, and now is as good a time as any. It’s high time you guys learn why I refer to Corrin strictly with male pronouns.
To put it bluntly, my main issue with female Corrin has nothing to do with the character itself, that would be really stupid and completely contradictory to how I’ve analyzed Corrin over the course of the last few years, and it has nothing to do with tertiary aspects like her design and the way she’s been used. It 100% has to do with her fans.
I may not interact with the fandom that much, mainly because doing so opens up a whole can of snakes, but it doesn’t take much research to see there is a very distinct bias towards female Corrin, regardless of the context you look at her at. She consistently ranks high on CYL polls while her male counterpart consistently ranks the lowest of the lords. She’s always the first to receive an alt, the Adrift banner being the only exception, and time between their alts is noticeably long (for context, the time between their first alts was 5 months and their fallen versions a full year!). She was chosen to be the default gender for Corrin in Warriors, the male being locked behind the completion of a submap. Most merchandise of Corrin, whether it’d be official or fan-made is of the female. And people who play Smash competitively who use Corrin very often have a female skin on her. It’s pretty clear that there is clear favoritism towards female Corrin, and, normally, this wouldn’t be a bad thing, but some fans have taken it to the extreme to the point they believe that female is the canon gender for Corrin.
Which is a statement I vehemently disagree with.
I’ve never bought into this argument that the avatar characters have canon genders, mainly because it completely goes against the point of avatar characters. If they are supposed to have a canon gender, they never would have made them customizable avatars, they would have just made them that gender. I know that most people like to act that the avatars have widely different personalities depending on the gender, but outside of a couple of quirks shown in a handful of support conversations and interactions in Heroes, both genders are still the exact same characters with the exact same personalities. Regardless of what gender you pick, Robin is still calculative and supportive, Corrin is still compassionate and eager, Byleth is still resourceful and reserved. Your gender doesn’t identify you as a person no matter how much bad shows and cartoons seem to think it does.
And this brings me right back to why I say that my issues with female Corrin are due to her fans. The people who actively advocate that female is the canon gender for Corrin and actively argue for it are either guys who want to f*ck her or girls who project onto her so they can fantasize about f*cking their Fates husbando and they do not take well to people telling them that this isn’t the case or that they like the male version better. I distinctly remember one person posting about how they praised male Corrin on a forum and were almost instantly attacked by female Corrin fans telling them that they have bad taste and calling them sexist and misogynistic, and the praise in question was them simply saying that they liked his design. Not to mention that they’re reasoning for why female is the canon gender is some of the dumbest bullsh*t I’ve ever seen. I may not remember where I read it, but I do remember one person’s reasoning for why female is the canon gender is because it made Xander’s nickname for them make more sense in the context of him being in love with her. Not only is this brazenly stretching, since they’re basically saying that older brothers can’t give their younger brothers nicknames, but it’s obvious that they’re using this to justify why their ship is canon. And there is no doubt much worse sh*t than this, but I don’t have the fortitude to look for myself.
I think this really speaks to the raving hypocrisy this fandom engages in where Corrin, despite being the most infamously hated character amongst the fanbase, has received heaps of praise and love for their female form for no reason other than people thinking she’s hot. A character who’s popular for no reason other than waifuism. It’s a shame how common this is. The recent fallen heroes banner is one of the rare occasions I can point to where people were vocally praising male Corrin and saying he did something better than his female counterpart, and this really shouldn’t be case. This is why I’m complicated about female Corrin, despite that I really shouldn’t. I don’t have this problem with the other avatars in the series, but that’s because there isn’t this much of a heavy petty bias over which gender that should be. This is why, unless it’s necessary, I refer to Corrin as “he”. Call me petty all you want, but I’m being no less petty than these weirdos.
A lot of people have been hoping that Fire Emblem gets a proper anime for their game of choice, and I am definitely one of them. I would love to see an anime adaptation for Fates but only on the condition that they use male Corrin. Not only because it would be a nice change of pace from the blatant waifu bias and it would be hilarious to watch these fans throw a sh*t fit about it, but it gives them the perfect excuse to be as gay as they want with him. Corrin was the first officially stated LGBT lord and this is the perfect means to remind the audience about that. I won’t accept any Conquest anime if we don’t see Corrin being delightfully gay with his kinky boyfriend.

“l.a. is where stars come to die”
Do you think there’s anything you did better when you were younger? I think I was a better writer, honestly. Like I've developed in some areas, like being less over-dramatic, but I just think my creativity in wording and such has dulled down. Who was the craziest teacher you’ve ever had? I've never had a "crazy" teacher, honestly. What’s the last thing you got paid to do? Take pictures. What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done for someone else? How should I know? Ask either Jason or Sara. Have you ever wanted to model? No. Have you ever seen someone have a seizure? I THINK my sister? Teddy had seizures in his old age, too. What’s your favorite car? I don't have one, really. Do you know any HTML or CSS? If yes, how much? I know veeeeery little basics. LIke, I can change the color of shit and that's about it lmao. Do you tend to care about the lives of celebrities? Why or why not? Only celebrities I really really care about, like Mark. What do you think of the scene style? #aesthetic and I will ALWAYS be envious of the hair. Have you ever told an extremely inappropriate joke? Oh god, I remember one. What is the highest you have been up, other than in an airplane? On a certain faire ride, I wanna say. Is there any hope of you ever seeing your favorite band in concert? Ozzy does want to do another tour at some point, but he's fighting Parkinson's currently, so it's not guaranteed it will happen. Mom and I planned on going to his last one that was scheduled, but the diagnosis cancelled it. :( What is your favorite non-green vegetable? Uhhhhh I guess potatoes. What is your favorite non-traditional fruit? I don't think I've even had a non-traditional fruit. Just basic stuff. Have you ever had Swedish Fish? Yeah, I'm not a fan. What is your favorite origami shape? Birds, I guess. Do you usually take the stairs or the elevator? I pretty much always take an elevator if one's available because my legs can barely handle stairs at all. It's agonizing for me. Do you need a key card to get into the building you live in? No. What was the last takeout food you had? I had a burger from McDonald's a few days ago. Do you take the pickle off your burgers? No, I love pickles on burgers. Do you share a bed with anyone? Just my cat. If you’ve read or watched Harry Potter, which book/movie is your favorite? I haven't. What’s the last app you downloaded on your phone? I re-installed DragonVale. What do you know the most about? Meerkats, Markiplier, and Silent Hill, probably. What TV shows can you not stand? What's that stupid show on Adult Swim, Rooster Teeth or something like that? That shit was so dumb. Have you ever tasted your own tears? I mean not intentionally. Sometimes tears just fall down a spot where it happens. Are your legs hairy? I can almost guarantee to you that I probably have the hairiest legs of any woman you've ever met. Do you like Cheese-Itz? I love them! We don't really buy them though because both Mom and I can destroy a box of them. Have you ever built a sandcastle? I have. Did you ever watch Barney as a child? Yeah, I loved Barney, but not as much as my older sister. She literally "married" him, haha. Have you ever had a pet rabbit? No, but my older sis did as a kid. That poor thing died and Ashley didn't know for THREE DAYS. Mom took it out earlier and I guess she wanted to see how long it took Ash to notice? She didn't take great care of it, so. Are you wearing anything of any sentimental value? Describe? Yes, my friendship ring with Sara. To you, what is especially distracting? Tapping noises. When was the last time you did some major cleaning? MAJOR cleaning? Good question. How do you feel about people who neglect their pets? It sickens me. Have you ever contemplated cheating on anyone? Nope. When are you likely to lie? Probably when I don't want to seriously hurt someone. What is a personality type that you do not like? I hate people who think they know everything, are unwilling to acknowledge their flaws and work on them, feel they're better than others, are closed-minded, sexist, bigoted, racist... What is a personality type that you DO like? I am drawn to people who are empathetic and try to understand and consider more than just themselves, are caring and genuine, philosophical and think deeply, are calm, friendly, good listeners, and have a light sense of humor. Which of your friends is the least like you? In what way? I actually don't know. MAYBE Mini with her being extremely conservative to a frustrating degree and overwhelmingly religious. We diverge pretty strongly in beliefs that are important to me. How about the most like you? In what way? Sara! We have incredibly similar interests and morals, and we both are wild over animals. When was the last time you felt under-appreciated? I'm gonna be completely transparent here, even though it's uncomfortable to admit. I was very unhappy with the literally two interactions a poem I was really proud of got on dA. Like it was one I was trying to get published prior to just posting it there, so it was really disappointing to feel so overlooked when you worked hard on something you felt came out great. Does anyone take advantage of you or take you for granted? No. Are you taking anyone for granted? I sure as hell hope no one feels like I do. I definitely try to appreciate those I have to the utmost. What is one selfish thing that you do? I prioritize my alone time probably too much. How about something selfless? I'm pretty much always willing to listen to people's hardships and comfort them even if my own mental health is in poor condition. What do you like to do on your favorite holiday? Just be with family and really focus on how lucky I am to have them. What helps you fall asleep? I guess really paying attention to slowing my breathing, but that doesn't always work. It takes me at LEAST half an hour to fall asleep, so I struggle no matter what. Is there anyone you wish you were still friends with now? Megan. I really, really miss her. What is a fear you want to overcome? SOCIAL ANXIETY. UGH. What is something you do not like about yourself, with good reason? I'm lazy. What do you usually cry about? PTSD. Do you like pizza better on the second day? No. What do you like on your pancakes? Butter and normal syrup. Have you ever made up your own emoticon? I don't think so. How do you generally meet people? Online in one way or another. Have you ever seen a Broadway show in New York? No. Are you listening to music right now? Yeah, "God Hates Your Outfit" by Jeffree Star lmao. Look, it's catchy. Can anyone in your immediate family play the guitar? No. Have you ever wished to be an internet celebrity? How about a ‘real’ one? No. Like I've actually *loosely* considered trying to be a let's player with my love of games, but I don't even want to *risk* popularity; not that I think I'd get to that point, but still, I don't like the chance. Have you ever been kayaking? No. Do you still live with your parents? Yes. Do you believe you will never get over someone? I think Jason will always occupy at the very least a small corner of my mind. I just deal with loss so poorly in general, but that... that breakup was something. What do you order at Burger King? I don't like BK. Have you ever lived by yourself? No. Pretty sure I never could with my depression. What brand cell phone do you have? It's just a Tracfone, lol. Did you ever have a ‘security blanket’ when you were younger? Yes, my stuffed moose. What is your lucky charm? I don’t have one. Have you ever been in a wedding? Yeah, I was a bridesmaid in my sister's. Do you believe in yourself? ehhhhhh What time does your dad usually wake up in the morning? I don't live with him, so I can't say for sure. He's a mailman though, so he gets up early, I know. Who was the last person/people you were in a car with? Mom. What movie do you plan on watching next? I've been meaning to watch Jacob's Ladder for like... over a year, lmao. It served as an inspirational work for Silent Hill, and I know its reputation is brilliant, so I really want to see it. I just... don't really watch movies unless I'm in the theater. When something really scares you, what’s your immediate reaction? Gasp or go "what the fuck" or something along those lines. I can almost promise a curse word is coming out of my mouth, lol. Using song lyrics, say something to your most recent ex: I don't wanna get emotional digging through the songs that remind me of her, so pass, lol. You can only watch 4 TV shows for the rest of your life. What are they? Meerkat Manor, That '70s Show, maybe Pokemon even if I don't watch it anymore (it could be like a comfort show if I'm limited to four), aaaaand I think Ginga Densetsu Weed. Do you think it’s possible for a rap song to make you cry? ... Yes??? There are a couple that have for me. Does the idea of having a baby at your age scare you? I'm not having kids, sooo I don't have to worry about this. What band has the power to make you cry by splitting up? None. I'd be really upset if some did, but I wouldn't cry. Who is your favourite famous person who isn’t a singer, actor, or athlete? Well, I WOULD say Mark, but considering he's officially an actor now... guess not, haha. Uhhhh. Put him aside and I guess maybe Bindi Irwin. I'm not sure.

Woah, Oh, It’s Magic|| Natalia and Marley
TIMING: Current PARTIES: @castillos-curses SUMMARY: A date, a staring contest, and a happy ending.
Anyone who suggested Dell's needed a portfolio update, and Marley wasn't opposed to being the one to show them the ropes, especially if it was an attractive woman. Natalia seemed eager, too, to know what Marley had up her sleeve for the after party. And boy, was it gonna be a good one. She'd have to test the waters first, of course, but Marley had great intuition, and her intuition told her that Natalia was more than what she showed. Whether that more was a good more or a bad more, was all that was left to be sussed out. Either way, it was a win for Marley. She got to the restaurant a few minutes early, not her usual game, but it was important that she did this time. Watching someone's approach could tell you a lot about a person, and if Marley could get just thirty extra seconds of establishing a baseline with Natalia, she'd take it. Finally, dark curls appeared from around the corner and Marley couldn't help but notice she looked much nicer in person than in her online profile. "Good to see not everyone lies on their online profile," she jested, giving a grin.
Natalia wasn't the hugest fan of Dell's - to be honest, she barely went to any of the non-supernatural spots in town on any kind of a regular basis. But it was the most well-known and, she thought, least offensive of prospective human only bars to suggest for a first meetup. Marley seemed incredibly against the idea, which was just further points in her favor in Nat's mind. This Marley was not only hot, but also a cop, and potentially a cop who was well in the know? It was like hitting gold. She arrived at Dell's perfectly punctually, dressed down, unsure of what to expect for the evening. "You weren't expecting a catfish, I hope?" Nat replied with a smirk, tossing her hair as she peeled off her denim jacket. "It's nice to meet you - officially, and all. Though, I am sorry to have brought you somewhere that you have such a detestation for."
Marley gave a light chuckle, grinning from behind dark sunglasses again. She wondered if Natalia would immediately find them odd. She found a lot of people who were in the know did. "Maybe," she said coyly, strutting up to the door, "it works out either way for me. I'd just arrest them, so." She pulled it open to allow for Natalia to go in first, giving her a hand wave before following her in. "The only thing Dell's is good for is cheap pre-game drinks. And they're on you, so," she shrugged, heading up to the bar, "I can't complain, right?" Gave a grin as they reached the bar. Natalia was certainly nice to look at, even dressed down. Casual but still cute. Extremely attractive, with an air of mystery.
"Arrest someone for posting misleading pictures on a profile?" Natalia laughed, thinking she was going to like this woman just fine. She stepped inside, curious if Marley was going to keep the sunglasses indoors as well. Her online account didn't give off any markers of her being some kind of supernatural - but then again, not everyone was as obvious as herself. "Fair enough," Nat agreed, bouncing into a stool against the bar. "Two beers?" She asked the bartender, once gaining his attention. With a sly glance at Marley, she added quickly "And a round of tequila shots - thanks." He bustled away to get their drinks, and she grinned at Marley. "Might as well pre-game correctly, right?"
"It might not be real grounds for arrest, but it'd sure give them a good scare," Marley said with a snicker, following suit and pulling herself onto a chair next to Natalia. She hadn't taken her for a beer kind of gal, but the two tequila shots definitely made sense. Natalia was a confident woman, and she seemed very sure of herself. Marley appreciated that. "What's the point if you don't do it right?" When the bartender returned, she scooped up her shot and held it up to Natalia's, ready to cheers. "Here's to an exciting night," she grinned, before tossing it back, that burn traveling all down her throat. "So tell me," she said, leaning on the bar top, "what brought someone like you to White Crest?"
"I hope so." Natalia clinked her shot glass against Marley's, downing it in sync. She let out a small cough at the burn, licking her lips against the smoky tang. The plain taste of the cold beer made for a nice chaser and she took a sip, glancing at the mirrored lenses of her date. "Business, mostly." Nat answered truthfully, "Turns out White Crest, Maine is a great place to make a ton of money for my incredibly specific business." She laughed at the absurdity of where she had ended up. "I'm sure the cops around here are kept as busy as me, with everything that goes on." Her eyebrows raised questioningly, though the question was innocent enough.
Marley grinned. She couldn't help it. She was in a good company, drinking free alcohol, and everything Natalia said had that little devious hint to it that she often found herself using. "Business? What kind?" she asked, sipping her beer. She liked the tequila better, but this would do for now. "Oh, yes, we're kept plenty busy. There's definitely a lot more murder here than in Albany, but I like staying busy. Beats sitting around bored, plus every case here is always so...interestingly different. It's fun finding a new way to say 'coyote attack' when it was very obviously not a coyote. But hey, what Sarge says goes, and if I get paid at the end of the day, that's what matters," she answered, taking another long sip. Normally, she'd be looking around the entire place, picking out things that piqued her interest-- but here, only Natalia did. "I take it you're enjoying the town, then? You don't seem as timid about this place as most others I've met."
Natalia was leaning more honest than she might normally have. Marley seemed to be taking everything she said in stride, and perhaps throwing in some coy comments of her own. "I run an occult shop - on Amity Road. This town has proven incredibly lucrative for me." She chuckled, surprised at the woman's forthcoming nature, and surprised to hear her reference all those bogus 'coyote attacks' she kept seeing in the news. "Yes, those 'coyotes' just don't know when to quit, I think." It was interesting that she mentioned her Sargent enforcing the cover ups - was the entire police force 'in on it', so to speak? "I do like it here," She agreed reluctantly. "Money's great, I've made a lot of connections for my work...but I've been all over the world - it's a bit /quaint/ here, for my taste." Nat shrugged, taking another drink of her own to match Marley. "There are far more intimidating places in the world than White Crest. Though, I've never been to Albany - can't speak for that one."
"Occult shop, huh?" Marley said, grinning as an idea struck her. "Sounds like a very niche business, but I can definitely see why it's something popular here. Whether it's real or not," she added on, wondering how she'd react. Marley had a hunch, but it was always more fun to guess than be told. "Didn't think running an occult store would warrant world travels, or, er-- 'connections'," she went on, putting quotes around the word, a brow raising from behind her frames. "Don't bother, Albany is boring. Quaint is one word for this town, but maybe it's just because you're hanging out in the wrong places. C'mon," she said, downing the rest of her beer, "let's get out of here. I wanna take you somewhere fun." Slid from the bench and held out her hand, looking at her from behind her frames sharply.
Niche was right, though in this town that niche was a bit more mainstream than one small pocket. Natalia couldn't suppress a smirk at the question of validity of her shop. "I get plenty of business from people who believe and who don't." She replied coyly. "I didn't always have an actual store. Before this, I would travel all over buying and selling rare occult items for clients." This was, strictly speaking, the truth, though it was a little more in-depth than she let on. But Marley was moving on quickly, and Natalia liked that restless energy - it crackled between them as she wondered what her idea of 'fun' would actually entail. She finished her beer in suit, leaving a couple of tens on the counter to cover the tab. Her hand grasped Marley's after a second's hesitation and she scooped up her jacket on their way out. "Fantastic - what did you have in mind?"
"And what about you?" Marley asked, not so coyly this time. "Do you believe or don't you?" She took Natalia's hand and wrapped her cold fingers around hers, leading them out of Dell's-- finally-- and towards the street that led to Amity. She knew exactly where she was going to take Natalia, and she was increasingly more excited to see the look on her face when they arrived. "It's a surprise," she said with a devious grin, hooking their arms together as they walked. "Tell me more about this fascinating job of yours while we walk."
Natalia was again taken aback by her upfront nature. It was rare that people so bluntly asked if she was being serious or not. "I do." Natalia decided to answer honestly, based on her own suspicions of her date, they could have a lot more in common than she though. "You could even call me a witch!" She made a pretend scary face, wiggling her fingers for dramatic 'magical' effect. "But would /you/ believe that? That's the real question." Once they hit Amity, Nat had a pretty good idea of where they were going - but it was a little shocking Marley even knew it existed. Their arms entwined, she chuckled. "I don't know what's there to tell. Taking away the exotic items and locations, I'm just a glorified import and export curator." Importing and exporting endangered species, killer monsters, deadly weapons...but still.
"You know, when you say it like that, I think I do," Marley said, grinning back at Natalia. The truth was, of course she did. Marley knew a few other spellcasters, after all. She tossed her head back and laughed at Natalia's display of finger waggling. "I get the feeling it's a little more than that, but fine," she said, pausing once they'd reached the entrance to the 'Dancing Dryad'-- a front for what was really inside. Marley reached into her pocket and pulled out a matchbook before leading Natalia inside. The little song and dance that was played to gain entrance to the Magic Circle was one Marley had done many a time, and she presented the matchbook along with a dip of her glasses-- proof she was of the supernatural variety-- before turning back to Natalia as the new door opened. "Now it's time for some real fun."
Natalia watched Marley present the requisite items for entry into the Magic Circle with a smug feeling of superiority. She /knew/ it. Hunters should hire her out for her impeccable ability to spot a supernatural being from a mile away, really. "I know how /I/ know about this place - but how do /you/?" Nat didn't miss that moment with Marley dropping her shades, though she wasn't actually able to see her eyes from this angle - more and more intriguing questions popping up as this night went on. As they headed inside - the bouncer giving her a nod in recognition - she looked around, hoping not to see too many people she knew here. "I like your idea of fun - this is certainly a better spot than Dell's, you were absolutely right."
"Can't a girl keep some mystery about her?" Marley followed Natalia in and up to the bar, ordering some nice drinks for the two of them, before turning back to her. She tapped the lens of her sunglasses. "So you are a real witch, then, aren't you?" she said, handing Natalia the drink. "Looks like I just keep getting more and more lucky tonight. First, you're a gorgeous lady, not an old man trying to catfish me-- and now I find out you're a real spellcaster?" She looked around the room, before finally pulling her glasses off. Even inside, the low glow of her red eyes was visible. "I suppose I owe you a little secret, too, since I know yours."
"Yes, really," Nat replied, taking the drink offered. She wondered if she should do a little fun spell to prove it, but really didn't feel like messing it up and losing face. She laughed in response with a hint of a blush creeping up her ears. Gorgeous, huh? Marley's secret finally revealed, she grinned like the cat that ate the canary. A /mara/. And a cop?? How wonderful. "I wonder if there's even one normal human in this town?" Nat asked, chuckling. "It is nice to not have to pretend for the rest of this night - how incredibly tiresome."
Marley grinned. "Unfortunately, there's all too many normal humans in this place, it really kills my vibe sometimes," she said with a wave of her hand. "But tonight we don't have to worry about that at all, right?" She tucked her glasses into the 'v' of her shirt and led Natalia to a more private booth in the back. "So, I take it you come here often? I caught the way the bartender nodded at you. One thing you should know about me is that I'm really good at reading people."
They settled into a quiet booth near the back of the bar, away from the crowd beginning to form at the bar, and she sipped on her drink. It had a bit of a fizzy sensation up her nose, without any carbonation to speak of - magic. "Yes, you caught me." Natalia sighed. Just /how/ good at reading people, she wondered? "I'm quite the regular here. This is a decent place to do business, and as you put it - regular people really kill my vibe." She smiled in response, looking into her faintly red eyes with interest. It was while looking in that direction she caught sight of a regular of her own - fucking Keith. He was making a vicious beeline for their table, so it was too late to pretend not to see him. "And here comes that business right now to ruin my night." She whispered to Marley, standing up and trying to head him off. "Keith - babe, I thought I told you I don't do refunds. You asked to curse your ex-wife, and I did!" The man got close into her space, eyes flashing angrily, and jabbing a finger in her face. "She's a worm! You turned her into a fucking worm! We have kids! The cat tried to eat her!!" Natalia stifled a giggle - it was kind of funny, and she'd been drinking. "No, Keith, /you/ turned her into a worm. I think your words were 'make her feel what she makes me feel like'? Curses are very literal. I only sold you the kit, you did it your-" As she tried to calm him down, he got a fistful of her jacket, shaking her a bit as he kept yelling. She stopped talking pretty quickly.
Marley was about to reply when Natalia looked straight past her. Turning her head, she noticed someone stomping towards them. A little ruffled that her night was being so interrupted, Marley opted to stay put as Natalia rose from the table to intercept him. She took a decent sip of her drink-- letting it fizzle in her mouth-- watching the two. A client, it seemed, mad about what he'd gotten for his money. Marley very nearly spat out her drink trying to suppress a laugh, putting a hand over her mouth. It was, however, very quickly stopped when the man grabbed her date. Marley was out of her seat in mere seconds, glad, for once, that her glasses were already off. "Hey!" she snapped, in a low growl. And instant the man's eye line went from Natalia to her, she stared him down until he was nothing but a crumpled mess on the ground, stricken with the fear she knew she instilled. When she felt satisfied enough to stop, she blinked and stepped back. "Didn't your mother ever teach you not to hit a lady?" she said flatly, before sliding back into the booth as if nothing had happened.
Natalia eagerly slid back out of the man's reach as he quickly dropped her and focused on Marley. She watched Marley stare the man down - no words exchanged, no physical blows dealt, yet he fell to the ground in a heap, shaking and terrified. Her mouth popped open, impressed and mildly scared. Mildly turned on. "Get the fuck out of here, Keith - I don't wanna see you again. Ask Vera to help you, she needs the money." He scrambled away, half-tripping and half-running. Nat sat back down into their booth, eyes fixed on Marley with an incredulous expression. "Thank you...for that. I'm terribly sorry to have /work/ interrupt our evening." She cleared her throat, still amazed at having seen a mara in action. "That was...interesting."
"If there's one thing I hate more than someone interrupting me," Marley said matter-of-factly, sipping her drink, "it's a man who thinks he can put his hands on a woman without her permission." She let her eyes wander from the table and up to Natalia. She didn't find her intimidating like everyone else, right? Did she think she was a monster, too? Like Deirdre? Like Erin? Like the rest of her kind? Ruffling her brow, Marley looked down, sliding her glasses back on. "Interesting is one word. I'm sure he'll think twice about messing with people now," she said, grinning again, though softer this time. "Now, where were we?"
"Agreed." Natalia nodded sagely, taking a drink with only the slightest of shake in her hands. Though she acted unflappable all of the time, having someone bodily grab her and scream in her face still took a minute to get past. "You're quite the knight in shining armor, I'm even more glad to have your company tonight." Her smile was flirty, looking over the rim of her glass. It was downright attractive to watch someone mentally scar a guy on her behalf. "I think the night was /just/ getting interesting, don't you?"
Marley, being the person she was, noticed the slight shake in Natalia's hand as she took a sip. Marley watched her for a moment, giving a smirk back. "I prefer the dark, no shining here." After a second, she removed herself from her side of the booth and slid in next to Natalia, taking her drink from her hand and setting it on the table. She looked at her evenly from behind her glasses, letting her know that she wasn't a threat to her right now, wondering if she needed to reassure her, before leaning in and pressing her lips to Natalia's. She tasted like sweet cinnamon and alcohol. When she pulled away, she murmured, "What do you say we get out of here? My place is right down the street."

THE POSITIVE & NEGATIVE; Mun & Muse - Meme.
fill out & repost ♥ This meme definitely favors canons more, but I hope OC’s still can make it somehow work with their own lore, and lil’ fandom of friends & mutuals. Multi-Muses pick the muse you are the most invested in atm.
Tumblr media
My muse is:   canon / oc / au / canon-divergent / fandomless /
Is your character popular in the fandom?  YES / NO. in his own head maybe
Is your character considered hot™ in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK. lol what fandom does jo have a fandom here???
Is your character considered strong in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK. ???
Are they underrated?  YES / NO. / IDK. jo thinks he’s underrated does that count??
Were they relevant for the main story?  YES / NO.
Were they relevant for the main character?  YES / NO / THEY’RE THE PROTAG.
Are they widely known in their world?  YES / NO.
How’s their reputation?  GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL.
How strictly do you follow canon?  — Jo is the master of his own story so yeah. I’m following my own canon and whatever I come up with to a T ( unless some good suggestions in writer’s workshops or even here come up! ). He is the main character of my limited series pilot that I hope to write soon called The Insomnia Trap.
SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals.  —  Jonathan has many sides to him. The child of mixed Latinx parents and the youngest of three kids, he has had a relatively normal life ( save for early childhood, when he killed his mother by “accident” - should’ve mentioned that! ) and his very long goth phase in middle/high school, but always deemed himself to be on the outskirts of society. Because he was aware from a young age that he was simultaneously unwanted and unplanned, Jonathan came out of his upbringing with the idea that he never should have existed. This planted in him a very nihilistic, misandrist, and generally flippant view of the world despite pursuing his dream to work in comics and cartoons. Though he was hungry for recognition and dreamed of a world not on Earth, he often found himself to be a ghost wandering the streets of town, looking in on the people having fun in their homes without understanding why they were happy. His insomnia developed when he in his teens, though he still had trouble sleeping as a child after seeing his mother’s mangled corpse at the bottom of the stairs - his doing, of course. Whether he lives with the guilt or not is up to you to decide; it’s my personal feeling that there is a part of him, the human part of him, that feels horrible about what he did. He feels monstrous for it, in fact. This is part of the reason why, if he gets extremely close to someone, he warns them that he’s not a good person; the shred of good left in him. But he also feels his “metamorphosis” into the nihilist that he is today was inevitable, given that he was never supposed to exist in the first place. It should be mentioned, of course, that this nasty cocktail of things has not only stressed his insomnia, but he eventually was pushed into going to a sleep clinic to get to the bottom of his problems once and for all. He only encountered an extremely traumatic lucid dream that forced him to confront his past head-on. He was unable to save his rotting humanity ( D., a small girl that looked like his character Deirdre ), and was eaten alive by The Other, a creature that looked like a younger version of himself and eventually absorbed him into itself. He awoke, now in what can only be described as a constant lucid dream in waking life. He encounters monsters and hallucinations from his dreamspace frequently, and will sometimes see D.’s forest crop up in his backyard. To this day, he still believes D. is alive and well - and, of course, that the object of his obsession, the one person who ever understood him in his point of view, Annie Kaye, is going to one day return to him as he’s always dreamed. Sadly, she could want nothing less to do with his sorry ass.
Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?).  —   Around the time that The Insomnia Trap was simply going to be a screenplay, I workshopped it every few weeks in my senior Screenwriting class in undergraduate school. The overwhelming response I got was that Jonathan was abhorrent, creepy, and the question a lot of people had was why we were following him versus Adri, his ex girlfriend who was documenting his struggles with insomnia. My only answer to this is that is the point - you aren’t supposed to necessarily like him, I instead invite you to understand why he does the things he does. I’m asking you to do something you don’t like, something that makes you uncomfortable, maybe. I don’t believe entertainment in any capacity should be forced to be all about how “great” a person someone is. He’s a horrible person you can observe at a safe distance, and pick apart - a real puzzle who has his nasty qualities and his strangely good qualities mixed into one. I’m not asking you to forgive him, either. I’m asking you to see him for what he is and judge him for yourself. Jonathan is a gigantic mess of things - he’s deeply traumatized, but has chosen to live a life where he’s given in to his narcissism and self-importance, and he’s deeply hurt many people in his life - the most obvious being Annie, whom he feels he “deserves” after suffering so much in his life ( sure... ). He is in many ways a deeply unlikable character, and I wrote him keeping this in mind. That said, he has his better qualities, though they’re few and far between, that I think can keep him human in the eyes of the audience ( his love of animals, guilt towards his mother’s death, his intense self hatred, his genuine love for his nieces and nephews and for children in general, etc. ). Since he’s the protagonist of The Insomnia Trap, I can only hope that he is a complex and interesting enough character to follow for audiences if/when the limited series gets picked up!
What inspired you to rp your muse?  — Jonathan is based off of a very long personal experience I had, and I’ve always been fascinated by intense psychological horror. The two things came together, at first, when I was 12 and simply evolved from there. Originally, the project was going to be an animated flash movie that was divided into parts - but that of course never happened, I was too young and too impatient to ever do that. Over time, I ended up focusing Jonathan’s character, and he first appeared in high school - sophomore year, actually, in a different context. He’s been in development for a very long time, in other words, and I grew fascinated with a variety of different concepts over the years that got incorporated into his story ( doppelgangers, lucid dreaming, revenge, obsession, tragic protagonists, etc. )! He is one of the most intimate characters I’ve ever created, and I love him to death.
What keeps your inspiration going?  —  Music is a big one, there are specific songs I want to get the rights to use in the project if it ever gets made, and that really helps keep me focused on this blog and develop Jonathan further. Also, threading with my fellow muns and seeing how Jo evolves over time. What’s he capable of? Can he change? Is he capable of change, or is he afraid of it? These are questions that are asked with each character he interacts with, and I sincerely live for it. Also, drawing helps me out a lot too - maybe you’ll see The Insomnia Trap in webcomic form soon... just a thought!
Some more personal questions for the mun.
Give your mutuals some insight about the way you are in some matters, which could lead them to get more comfortable with you or perhaps not.
Do you think you give your character justice?  YES / NO / no idea honestly lmao
Do you frequently write headcanons?  YES / NO / depends!
Do you sometimes write drabbles?  YES - I also draw them! / NO, I HATE DRABBLES.
Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day? YES! / NO.
Are you confident in your portrayal?   YES / NO / sorta
Are you confident in your writing?  YES / HAHA NO.
Are you a sensitive person?  YES / NO. / though i can handle critique, film school definitely hardens you to that!
Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal?  —  I do. I’ve been explicitly told Jonathan is disgusting and totally unlikable by people to my face, and I have made leaps and strides to prevent my portrayal from going completely in the “this person is deplorable” category that was tempting to head towards. It’s easy to explore someone’s bad side rather than explore their good side, which I can forget about with him. That said, critique really does help me develop my writing further, and I desperately need it even if it can be hard to hear sometimes!
Do you like questions, which help you explore your character?  —  I love questions. If people ask me questions, I do my best to answer no matter what they may be. They can be challenging sometimes, but that’s what makes it so fun!
If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why?  —  Sure, I’m happy to hear what people have to say. I may not agree with it, but hearing different perspectives is so important in my point of view.
If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it?  —  As well as I could. It can be frustrating, but everyone’s tastes are different, so I don’t really take it personally and move on. I’m really here to do what I want to do in the end, as the rest of us are, so I try to prioritize that over any negative feelings I might have.
If someone really hates your character, how do you take it?  —  Again, I just let it be. I’m used to people not really understanding Jonathan or not caring for him while understanding him, and that’s fine! Everyone has their preferences for what they like in leading characters or just characters in general. He is a triggering character with very triggering themes, and I’m writing him from a very prolonged experience I had ( and it’s very cathartic ) so I can understand why people may not want to engage with him or with me. I’m perfectly fine with it and invite people to put themselves first, and I move on like I mentioned in the above question.
Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?  —  Yes! Please go for it. I literally do not proof my replies before I post them half the time so feel free to let me know if I misuse words or put commas/colons/semicolons or whatever out of place.
Do you think you are easy going as a mun?   — I think so! I try to be open and inviting to everyone I speak to here, and always encourage people to come talk to me if they’d like to. No pressure though! Roleplay is for fun, and it shouldn’t be anxiety inducing or any kind of work - do things at your own pace here, that’s what I say ( though I’m trying to follow my own advice! ).
That’s about it, congrats for filling out!

Have you ever disliked someone just because a friend disliked them? Yessssss. That’s my job as a best friend hahahaha half kidding. No but seriously though, I have. I mean I’d still be objective and tell my friend if their enemy is making sense in some aspects, but at the end of the day I’ll give them the extra support by disliking that person anyway. Which would you rather own: A camera or a video camera. Why? Video camera, because I’ve always wanted to start vlogging and my phone’s camera is already quite decent, so I’m not really needing a camera right now. Have you ever won a lot of money in a slot machine? How much? Nah, I’ve never even played in a casino. I’ve been in one but I was only 18 then, so I couldn’t really do anything except to walk through the casino and stare at all the machines and booths that I couldn’t play at haha. Do you watch sports on TV even though you aren't a sporty person yourself? I will sometimes watch a tennis or MMA match if I catch them on, but that’s about it. I wouldn’t know who to root for either, or know who’s the better player; I just watch for the action. Do you eat / drink at your computer? Yes but I try to avoid it more these days because I hate greasing up my trackpad or leaving bits of food on my keyboard. If I really have to eat at my laptop I’ll put on a show or a video to watch so that I don’t have to actually be using my laptop.
How much do you overeat at special occasions? (Birthdays, Christmas, etc) I don’t think I have the capacity to overeat haha. My room for food is small so when I get full I simply stop eating, or I no longer get up to get a second serving. Generally I try to get a piece of every meal though, no matter how little; I always want to have a taste of everything so that I don’t miss out. The music you listen to: Is it mostly sung by female or male vocalists? I think it’s an equal amount but when it comes to frequency I think I’ve been listening to female vocalists more often – Beyoncé, Paramore, The Japanese House, Banks, etc. My playlists generally have both female and male artists though cause I also listen to Hozier, alt-J, Coldplay, Rhye, Joji, and other male dudes. Do you think it's important to enjoy your job or do you just work for money? As much as possible people should always aim to end up somewhere where they love what they do for a living, but given that I’m quite materialistic but mostly grew up in a household with a mom who was very frugal and often reiterated the joys of a simple life (aka a life I hated lmao), I think I’d have no problem having a job that pays handsomely but wasn’t necessarily viewed as fun. I wanna be able to spoil and reward myself after all the work I do. Do you require glasses / contacts to see properly? If so, which do you use? Yeah, I have glasses. Tell me an embarrassing thing that happened to you recently: I shared a serious-toned Facebook post earlier tonight and Gabie’s dad gave it a like. I’ve mostly forgotten he was my Facebook friend and so I started feeling embarrassed because normally I would shitpost and share stupid memes and if he liked my post, it must mean he sees everything I share jkfhjkfhjkf. When you hear your voice back on a recording, do you think it sounds awful? No. I don’t usually cringe when I hear it; I think it sounds okay. When was the last time you got the hiccups? Aaaaaaaaages ago. I can’t even tell you when. If you had to, which record would you go into Guinness World Records for? I saw a video on Facebook of this woman getting into Guinness for finishing the most jars of mayonnaise in a certain amount of time (I wanna say 5 minutes?) and I was so thrilled to see such a record cause I can honestly see myself breaking it HAHAHAHAHA mayonnaise is <3 The last sweet thing you ate: What was it? A chocolate chip cookie, except we don’t have chocolate chips so my dad had to improvise and chopped up Flat Tops instead. If you had to change your name, what would you change it to? I’d toy with my second name and probably go with Belle or Bella. Do you have a middle name? Do you find it embarrassing? Yeah I think all Filipinos come with a legal second name. I don’t find mine embarrassing it all; it’s a source of great pride since I have a lot of relatives etched in Philippine history with that name. I don’t ever want to lose it and I’ll probably continue to keep it even after I’m married. What would you choose to be famous for? It’d be nice to be known for a blog. If I had the time, resources, and tbh the connections it would be amazing to write about anything under the sun for an audience. What is your current occupation? Do you enjoy it? I don’t have any at the moment, but I’m about to start looking for one. Do / Did you enjoy school? Why (not)? There are some parts I enjoy/ed (the friends I made for high school, the overwhelming independence I gained in college) and some parts I hate/d (some classes I was forced to take in high school, my inability to adjust during my first year of college). I don’t regret either periods though, and I can never say I completely hated them. If you have a webcam, are you ever paranoid people can see you? Yes hahaha. I never got around to buying a webcam protector either. Do you find it difficult to sleep at night? Any reason(s) why? Only when there’s something unresolved, like a deadline that’s bugging me or if Gab and I have been arguing. Otherwise I’m knocked out in like 10 minutes. If you had to go on a game show, which would you choose? Family Feud or Jeopardy. What about if you had to go on a reality show? Which would you choose then? QUEER EYE. Talk about wholesome. Tell me about your favourite TV show: Blue meth, New Mexico, lots of chemistry, objectively one of the greatest pieces of television ever. Have you ever wished you were born the opposite gender? Why? I probably wished this a few times when I was a pre-teen and liking girly things was still seen as lame. How the hell did we not question mindsets like that before, damn. If you had dental braces, which colour would you make them? I did have braces and I always picked a different color for every trip to the dentist, so it’s very possible I had tried out the entire rainbow. Does any part of your body hurt right now? Where and why? My back hurts rn, understandably, because my posture is shitty. Why were you last irritated? Slow internet. What time did you get up this morning? I think that was already 11 in the morning. The last city you were in: Where was it and do you like it there? Other than my own it was in Pasig. It’s okay but I definitely prefer other cities. It’s a little too crowded and congested for me and also too expensive to stay at, eugh. If I had the choice I’d rather hang in Makati or QC. Do you like the countryside? They’re nice spots for a short vacation, but I wouldn’t want to live there. I’ve grown used to the hustle and bustle of cities. If you see someone yawn, do you often yawn as well? Sure. Recommend me a good movie: Good Will Hunting, Requiem for a Dream (but sad), Roman Holiday, Gone with the Wind, 2001: A Space Odyssey. Do you think you'd make a good model? Would you ever want to be one? I don’t work out or do anything to maintain a certain figure so I don’t have the the ideal body for modeling; if anything the only factor I have going for me is the fact that I’m quite skinny. I did want to be a model when I was a teenager though; that was around the time VS Angels were extremely popular, so I’m not surprised I used to want to be like them. How often do you change your hairstyle? What does it look like now? I only change it up once a year. Right now I have a bit of a bob with bangs. Truth or Dare? Truth. I never have a problem saying the truth lmao. Do you have a favourite day of the week? Which is it? This semester it was Tuesday, because it had my lightest schedule. Nowadays every week is just a blur to me and I stopped having a favorite day.

Earthshine, Chapter 2
Again, I don’t consider myself a writer whatsoever but I guess I’m following my compulsions. We’ll see how long I keep doing this, but yeah. Here’s more??? Sorry if it’s lame or anything is wrong, etc. Just doing this for fun~~~
Sesskag.
First Chapter
Kagome had seen more battles than most decorated soldiers in her time. She’d waged a war against an unspeakable evil and lived to tell the tale. And from those experiences, she’d learned a thing or two about strategy.
Information is everything. Namely; know your enemy. If you can think like them, you’ll be two steps ahead at all times and be able to guide them into your trap.
Mostly Naraku had done this brand of bamboozling to their group, but that's besides the point because it worked. They’d all been tricked and lead like lambs to slaughter more than once by that creature. And while Kagome wouldn’t normally be molding her behaviors off a maniacally evil megalomaniac, desperate times called for desperate measures.
Not that she was desperate.
With her mind made up on seducing Sesshomaru, daiyoukai of the west, most powerful AND beautiful demon in the four territories, and veritable icicle, Kagome knew she had to think ahead.
It was disconcerting to realize that if she were to list things she knew he liked, she wouldn’t even use up the fingers on one hand.
1.) Fighting. She imagined he got bored defeating opponents so easily. He was a beautiful and deadly figure on the battlefield without match. The lack of worthy challenges probably explained all of the spontaneous “friendly” bouts with Inuyasha (which Kagome vehemently disapproved of, since it was her supplies she’d burn through patching up the battered half demon) over the past few years since Rin came to live in the village.
2.) Knowledge. This one was subtler. When he’d seen some of her futuristic objects while visiting Rin, he’d ask her pointed questions, his intense stare giving no room for anything but a full and thorough answer. These were always followed by an almost inaudible hum of acknowledgement, and a swift departure. Kagome supposed dogs were often curious creatures, so why should dog demons be any exception?
3.) Rin. This did not translate to humans as a whole whatsoever. Just Rin. He maybe tolerated some others, but he definitely didn’t like them. In all likelihood he held a quiet disdain, but Kagome figured she was at least in the ‘tolerated’ camp, considering he trusted her with his charge, so that was encouraging.
Thinking of Rin, caused Kagome to smile. Rin was a wonderful girl, even if she suffered from the effects of a serious case of hero worship for her Lord. Kagome remembered countless times where they’d spend time together, harvesting herbs and naming the blooms they came across. The now teenaged girl didn’t really have any female figures in her life, so Kagome filled in the roll by default. She genuinely adored Rin, and suspected Rin found a good friend in return. So really this point wouldn’t be an issue.
As far as fighting went, Kagome was a decent shot, but sparring with the daiyoukai seemed like signing a death wish.
Now. His curiosity. Kagome knew she was a novelty to him. Even if he wasn’t interested in her exactly but in the information she had about the future, it was at least a doorway in to some decent conversation. But what could tempt the stoic demon lord? He’d seen most of her futuristic belongings she kept in this era.
She really couldn’t, in good conscience, divulge information that could change the future, just in case this didn’t work out. So no politics, investment strategies, nor extreme advancements in engineering.
Cultural tidbits would be safer.
Music?
No. She imagined her tastes would appall him. Pop music with all of its thick instrumentation and driving rhythms didn’t exactly fit with her image of him and she’d rather appear dignified then explain why pop music was… well, popular in her era.
Art?
She would be the first to admit she didn’t know shit about art.
Food?
Kagome struggled to imagine Sesshomaru eating. Maybe she was guilty of putting him on a pedestal, but such a normal, everyday act seemed out of place for him. She’d certainly never seen him eat, but that wasn’t really saying much given the longest time they’d been in each other’s company was when he was fighting with Inuyasha. Also what could she prepare him that would be both impressive and appealing to a dog demon?
She decided to consult Rin.
A direct approach was always best. Searching out her young friend Kagome inquired
“Rin-chan. I was curious. What does Sesshomaru-sama eat?”
Rin stilled her hands, which were busy tying up herbs to dry in Kagome’s storehouse. Turning to Kagome, she gave the universal shrug of ‘I have absolutely no clue’
“Huh. Rin never saw him eat, now that Rin thinks about it. Or Rin just wasn’t paying attention.”
Kagome huffed in frustration, maybe a little louder than she should have, because Rin furrowed her brow at her.
“Why do you ask, Kagome-oneesan?”
It was imperative Rin not catch on to her plans. She needed a reasonable excuse. One would appear any moment. Seem calm, you crazy woman.
“Oh! Well you see… I just wanted to offer him something as thanks for taking such good care of you all these years. I feel very thankful to have Rin-chan in my life. It may be too forward though… just forget I said anything”
Nailed it.
“Rin is also happy she knows Kagome-oneesan! And is grateful to Lord Sesshomaru for bringing her to your village!”
She was clutching the fresh cuttings closely to her chest, beaming up at the older woman. The picture of earnestness.
“I’m sorry but Rin doesn’t know what Lord Sesshomaru would like to eat! Rin only knows Lord Sesshomaru doesn’t eat human food. He told me when we first met and I tried to give him some fish, and other things”
Huh. Well, that was…less than helpful.
“Don’t worry Rin-chan! I’ll think of something to give him. Don’t fret about it” Kagome tossed her a reassuring smile while she set about finishing their work. Reaching to tie the next bundle up to dry, Kagome, ever the optimist, was sure she’d think of something.
That was two weeks ago. She’d gained no ground since.
Her brainstorming had lead her down very uncomfortable roads. She shuddered as she recalled that Koga’s pack used to survive by eating humans. And when she asked Shippo, he just shrugged and said dogs were “weird that way” but couldn’t provide any specifics. Sango said there just wasn’t a lot of research her village had done on dog demons since they generally stayed away from messing with human settlements.
Dog Demons. You’d think they’d be as easy to please as their mortal counterparts.
Kagome was contemplating chucking a box of milk bones at the demon lord and taking her chances.
Maybe a change of scenery would shake an idea loose in her brain. It had been a while since she’d visited her family, and her childhood home always helped to clear her mind.
Sliding the door open to her family’s house, she was greeted by the sweet aroma of freshly baked goods.
“Tadaima, Mama! Souta! Ojii-chan!”
“In here, dear!”
Following her mother’s voice to their kitchen, she arrived in time to see her pull a fresh sheet of cookies from the oven.
“Kagome! It’s so good to have you home! And with such good timing! I just made some peanut butter cookies. Would you like-“
Peanut butter. Lightning ricocheted through Kagome’s mind. Her breath hitched, and her eyes grew wide.
An epiphany held her in place. A eureka moment erupted across her consciousness.
It couldn’t be that simple!
Glancing around, she spied the half-empty jar of peanut butter still out on the counter, a spoon jutting from the top. Kagome fumbled with the container, her hip bumping the table in her haste to get back through the well.
“-some to take to your friends?”
And with that, the matron of the Higurashi family was left alone with a full tray and an empty room. Hearing the front door slam, she exhaled and began to wonder. Would her daughter ever settle down long enough to lay down some real roots?
‘Peanut butter! Dogs loved peanut butter!’
Kagome swallowed a triumphant shout. It was the best idea she’d had yet. Even if it was the only idea she’d had.
It had been 10 days since Sesshomaru had last checked on his ward, and since you could predict the tides based on the precision of his schedule, Kagome knew he’d be checking on Rin today at dusk.
That gave her…maybe 20 minutes to catch her breath and set her trap.
Kagome clambered up the rope ladder they’d installed in the well, jar in hand, and made her way down the path towards her home. Upon rounding the corner to the field it was settled in, she noticed Rin, who often watched her home when Kagome was away, was siting by the entrance with a flower crown gently held in her hands.
The young girl perked up as she caught sight of her sisterly figure.
“Kagome-oneesan! Welcome home! Rin thought you wouldn’t be back until tomorrow!”
“Ah - I uh, hello Rin-chan! Well you see I forgot to bring my mother - uh” glancing around she eyed the circlet of blooms in her young friend’s hands “Flowers! I was going to pick her some flowers!”
“Oh! That’s wonderful Kagome-oneesan!”
She felt awful fibbing to Rin. But these were dire times.
Kagome slumped on the stump near the entrance of her home where she would split wood for the hearth, trying to catch her breath. Rin sidled closer to her, then noticed the strange container Kagome had in her possession.
“What are you holding, Kagome-oneesan?” gesturing with her eyes towards the young miko’s grasp.
With an exhale, she lifted the container towards Rin.
“It’s a snack from my home. It’s called Peanut butter. It’s kind of sticky, and nutty, but it’s not really made of nuts, it’s made from legumes I think? - I don’t know if we have peanuts here - and I’m rambling, It’s kind of sweet and salty. ” Noticing the spark in Rin’s eyes, she also added “Would you like to try it?”
“Oh! Could Rin?!” She leaned forward clutching the wreath to her chest. She was too infectious. Kagome entertained the passing thought that in the future, Rin would be able to wrap any man she wanted around her finger.
“Of course! You might not like it however… I think it’s kind of an acquired taste.” Kagome retrieved the spoon from the jar, wiping any excess along the rim before handing it to the eager girl.
She popped the spoonful in her mouth.
“It might be a little sticky, so don’t choke on the stuff.” Rin tried to pry open her mouth to respond but all that came out was a jumble of muffled syllables that had Kagome giggling brightly. Rin tried to talk between swallows of the sticky treat, but more stifled sounds escaped instead, which caused both women to erupt in peels of laughter.
Neither of them noticed the third presence suddenly appear in front of them.
Sesshomaru arrived at the miko’s dwelling to discover the two human women in a puddle of frenzy, to such an extent that they both failed to mark his entrance.
It was rare indeed for any being not to take immediate notice of the towering dog demon, so much so Sesshomaru wasn’t sure how else to gain the silly mortals’ attention.
He set about employing the strategy he used in most of his dealings, thinking formidable thoughts and staring, sure his presence would speak for itself soon enough.
He was wrong.
 The females were in hysterics.
Wondering if, despite all reason, his imposing bearing had run thin Sesshomaru decided a more direct approach was necessary.
“Miko. Rin.” he intoned smoothly. Sesshomaru applauded himself when the females ceased at once.
The pair, now still, they turned to face the intimidating demon lord, fighting the urge to erupt into laughter once more. Of course Sesshomaru showed up right at this moment.
“Lord Sesshomaru!” somewhat out of breath, Rin stood to greet her guardian.
“Hn. This Sesshomaru trusts you’ve been well, Rin” He flicked his gaze over his charge, appraising her well-being.
“Oh yes, Lord Sesshomaru! We’ve just finished drying the spring herbs, and Kagome-oneesan has just shared a most interesting treat with Rin!”
Gazing over the miko, he unabashedly sized her up, maybe for the first time, considering her fully. How long had Run bestowed the miko with that sisterly honorific?
“Hn.” He swept his gaze over the woman, seeing as she fumbled with the strange container in her hands.
“It’s nothing really, just a little something from my home” She waved her hand in mock bashfulness. Though flustered, Kagome hadn’t forgotten her self-appointed mission. She knew Sesshomaru was a curious creature by nature. She refused to give up more information than necessary. He’d have to come to her for answers.
To Sesshomaru, the substance did not appear to be having any long lasting ill effects on his ward. Was it some sort of drug? Was this responsible for the fit of hysterics that descended upon the two? The miko stirred the thick mass in the strange pot she carried. Scenting the air, its aroma wafted towards him. It smelled unlike anything he’d encountered before.
It smelled delicious.
“Miko.”
This was it. She had trained her attention on the demon lord and saw the moment the spark of curiosity flitted across his gaze.
“Hai, Sesshomaru-sama?’ She continued to stir the peanut butter around in the jar, hoping the smell would be released more strongly into the air.
“What is this substance you have given my ward?” He was the picture of disinterest, eyes gazing at some distant point on the horizon, busying himself by running his hand once across his mokomoko.
Knowing the demon lord was painfully direct in all his dealings, Kagome realized he must be really tempted to put on this kind of show.
His actions confirmed her theory. She had him.
“Would you like to try it?” Kagome offered him the handle of the heaping spoonful.
He would deny the small flare of his nostrils, and the twitch at the bottom of his mokomoko if anyone questioned him.
“I do not eat human food, priestess”
Kagome internally congratulated his commitment to his image. He even mustered a small sneer on his face.
“Of course Sesshomaru-sama. How silly of me” Kagome smiled knowingly at the stubborn dog in front of her. Making a small show of it, she swiped a finger across the spoon and plopped it her mouth, humming in satisfaction, before setting the jar beside her on the stump. She could feel his eyes follow her movements.
“Well I’m sure you have more important things to do with your time, Sesshomaru-sama. I have a few things to take care of myself before nightfall, so I’ll take my leave. Safe travels. Rin, have a good night. I’ll see you tomorrow”
“Yes! Thank you again Kagome-oneesan, Rin will see you soon!”
Sesshomaru didn’t respond, instead turning on his heel,he departed towards the village, no doubt escorting Rin who trailed after him talking animatedly about something or other.
Kagome didn’t call after them when she saw the jar of peanut butter was mysteriously gone.
Elsewhere, with legendary control, Lord Sesshomaru, Ruler of the West and powerful Daiyoukai, resisted the urge to smack his lips when the miko’s strange and addictive morsel stuck to the roof of his mouth.
The proud dog demon dissolved the empty plastic container with acid.
There could be no evidence of his lapse of control.

Another week, another brand-new episode of Psycho Pass. I’m going to hold back and be all mysterious and stuff. Because that’s how I do. I definitely don’t blurt out exactly how I feel about a show in the very first line of every post and then there’s no point in reading the rest. Nuh-huh. No siree. I gots some restraint! Who do you take me for! So instead, Matt, how are you enjoying season 3 so far. It may just be 3 episodes in but as they are double length, it’s now longer than most movies!
Oh, so does that mean it’s my turn to blurt out my thoughts in a single sentence? Okay, um, err, this show is still as consistently excellent as I thought it was based on the previous two episodes! Oh no, I hope I’ll have something to write for the rest of the review now!
Is that so? Fascinating. I can see how you would think and/or feel that way! (I write my part first… I have no clue what Matt said at this point…
So let’s get right into it. First I just a few general comments on my part. I enjoy high stakes corruption stories and although that’s also what season 1 was, the fact that this allows us to look into the public face of Sybil a bit more, through the device of gubernatorial elections is a great angle in my opinion. Diving into what has to be extremely complex and unique politics of a Sybil controlled society has so much potential.
I had to look up what “gubernatorial” meant (we don’t have anything like that in Australia, so forgive my ignorance), but yes I think politics and the world of ‘Psycho Pass’ is a perfect fit.
I mean what powers do politicians even hold in such circumstances. Are elections largely a population suppression tactics. Something to keep the masses happy? If so, why are they so incredibly high stakes. Seems ridiculous to be going through all this for what amounts to a reality show (which might explain why both candidates are entertainers). So much potential!
What do you think?
I mean, if I know anything about politics and people its that ambitious people will always be ambitious and wanting to be ‘the best’ regardless of the world they live in–so even if politics amount to nothing more than a popularity contest without any real power or ability to change anything outside of Sybil’s system–people are still going to strive for that, people are going to kill for that even. We’ve seen time and time again in the real world that people do extreme things to get what they want, even if to ‘outsiders’ their goals seem ridiculous or pointless.
Yakusuji really surprised me as a character this week. For a second there I thought they were going with a “bad guy is bad” sort of characterization but then it all took a very sharp right turn! I still don’t know if his character is sincere or if it’s all a big act. Either way, I didn’t expect it and I like it! Maybe it’s my suspicious nature that leads me to think he’s less than sincere but Psycho Pass did teach me not to trust anyone!
He’s definitely an interesting character but the way his character ties into Enforcer Todoroki’s subplot makes for a compelling bit of character development. As for whether he’s ‘on the level’ I don’t buy it…
I did find the assault scene a bit blunt. Not as in too brutal (mind you I thought it was hilarious that someone could kick a skull in so hard as to actually make it explode!) but just a little too straight forward. At least that’s what I thought as I was watching it. In hindsight though, if this was a political machination and not just the random terrorist attack they are making it out to be on the surface, then this type of direct and flamboyant assault is exactly what would be the most effective!
Yeah I took it to be that they were being intentionally flashy, down to the attackers wearing the same clothes, I found it to be a very intimidating scene.
How does anyone in this universe manage to keep their hue clear? I was only watching those little holo assistant thingies pop up for a few minutes (like the old Clippy office assistant) and I already felt my urge to murder rise. I wouldn’t last a day if I had to deal with those things and keep my thoughts in check!
I loved the idea of someone being physically assaulted and then a little pop-up comes up warning them that they were receiving injuries in-line with someone being assaulted, it’s that kind of AI assistant mentality that makes me hate AI assistants like ‘Alexa’ and ‘Siri’ all the more (but that’s a rant for another day).
As our heroes were chasing the attackers down, we got some surprising bit of universe building and musing on the dual nature of justice and law. One of my very favourite lines from the first season was said in a similar context. As Akane was chasing down criminals she said something to the effect that there’s a misconception that laws are there to protect people but it’s really up to people to protect the laws. I love that idea. It really epitomized Akane’s character and the fact that that’s what’s going through her mind in a high-pressure situation was just perfect.
We got something similar this week with Arata capping off a chase explaining that even in a Sybil controlled society it is imperative to exercise human judgement “that’s why dominators have triggers”. It’s a great line! And one that solidifies Arata’s devotion to ideals rather than establishments.
I’m glad you brought it up, that line really stood out to me too, the importance of the human aspect in an (at times) inhumane system.
Matt, you mentioned last week that you felt the writers of Psycho Pass season 3 had gotten around to reading old US news, it seems that they’ve moved on to more recent fare as the general depiction of the mudslinging politics does seem very familiar to what has been happening not too far south from my own home in the past few years!
Immigration’s a tricky thing, ain’t it?
Although, aside from the winky topical references, it does make a lot of sense that a society as portrayed in Psycho Pass would be particularly xenophobic. To be honest, I was really surprised they even had large scale immigration. I figured the country would have been largely sealed off!
So far, the themes of racial/cultural tension are handled a little naively and way too simplified for my tastes. However, I do realize that with everything going on in this narrative, you got to take some shortcuts.
I suppose there’s still time for a more nuanced discussion on immigration from this show, I imagine someone like you Irina, an immigrant yourself, would have a lot more to say on the subject than most people?
What did you think of Haruki Enomyia? I’m asking cause I have no clue what to make of them.
Difficult to say, for a second I thought they might be setting them up as a bigger villain for this story but I think they’re probably going to end up just another pawn in the bigger game being played. I think they were more just here to give us an idea of what kind of life Kazumichi had in the slums before joining the force. Though I think him just walking around the town with Arata did that well enough.
Am I the only one who noticed all the food in this episode? Maybe I was just hungry, but everything looked delicious!
C’mon Irina, all anime food looks delicious!
Ok back to more serious stuff, we got some very decent character-building backstory for both Kei and Arata. Now normally, this would not be my thing. It was delivered in straight exposition and boy oh boy was it all tragic! Taken independently, both of their backgrounds would have had me gently rolling my eyes and moving on without a second thought. Oh my, an anime protag with a tragic backstory! But it’s in how these stories intertwine to create such a bizarre picture of their relationship that brings the whole thing to a higher level.
It’s kind of interesting that they chose to more or less have our entire supporting cast learn this complicated backstory at the same time via the expositional method you mentioned. On the one hand I guess it helps to have everyone on the same page with their history but it makes me wonder if it was done for a more specific reason. Like one of the Enforcers using this information against our dynamic duo or the opposite and it puts more faith in them and brings closer as a team–who can say for sure?
In fact, the peculiar dynamic between Kei and Arata is truly fascinating and so far, a strong point of the season for me.
Agreed.
A few little random thoughts:
I quite like both the OP and ED. I like the visuals in the OP better, in fact, I like them a lot, but I prefer the ED song!
The interiors are really beautiful this season. I’m not so taken by the architecture, but room designs consistently catch my eye.
Also, I didn’t know where to fit it in the review, but I liked the statement that acting weak releases cortisol making you feel more relaxed. The behavioural neuroscience angle is one I like a lot and I hope they develop it more as Psycho Pass is the perfect universe to explore this in.
I thought it was interesting–if briefly mentioned–but I have to wonder if it was just the writer showing off some fancy things he learned on wikipedia and wanting to put it into the show (okay that was a bit catty of me, apologies to the writer of Psycho Pass).
Oh I guess I should finally admit it. I really liked this episode. More than the last. So far, I think the writing may be a touch weaker than I had hoped. There’s a lot of slightly clumsy exposition. But I’m also starting to see the foundations of a potentially fascinating story with some very intriguing dynamics. I’m excited. When the episode ended I was both surprised by how quickly it had gone by and a little bummed I couldn’t watch the next one right away!
I have to agree (we seem to agreeing a lot this time!) our new characters feel like they’re living up to the potential of this show’s world while adding interesting things to it too. Political corruption, a shadow organisation called ‘Bifrost’ pulling the strings (cool name by the way) plus all the internal machinations at the various levels of law enforcement and interpersonal relationships too makes for a rich and compelling tapestry. If you’re a person who adheres to the 3 episode rule and you haven’t given this show a chance yet then 3 excellent episodes in a row should be proof enough that Psycho Pass is back and firing on all cylinders!
Psycho Pass s3 ep3 – Tensions Flare Another week, another brand-new episode of Psycho Pass. I’m going to hold back and be all mysterious and stuff.

UHH F/O february!!
1-.Reverse Self-Ship: You are your F/O’s F/O!!
I have a hard time picturing any of my faves having me as their f/o because i think most of them aren’t of people to consume media (books, tv shows) in excess. they might look at something and think “oh cool” *never picks it up again*.
BUT!!  HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING--
Zeтsu... well?? he seems like the type of guy to read a lot of comics and books but never participate in fandoms or tell anyone about it.
One day he heards of a comic series about a character who hunts demons and is searching for their siblings, who are lost somewhere in the deepest parts of Hell, he´s interested, so he buys it, reads it, and immediately gets attached to the protagonist.
He just... relates... you know? Like, both sides, but they never talk about this.
(Kuro = black side. Shiro= white side)
Kuro was in denial for the most part, like
“Why do people like this character” *searches for fanfics*
“Disgusting, badly written. Doesn’t make any sense.” *consumes EVERY story and headcanon post he can find until there´s nothing left*
Kinda just keep going like that until he realized he was too deep in the mud to say he was doing it ironically. Who’s the fool now!? huh!?
I make him feel at ease and, in a weird way, understood, like well, maybe things are going to be okay.
Goes back to the source material, reads it over and over again until he memorizes it, just for fun.
“Why are you angry”
“I  read a FICTIONAL THING that made me genuinely happy for no logical reason and I HATE IT”
He doesn’t like feeling vulnerable and really takes pride in being a “mature adult” who has NO ISSUES or PROBLEMS he would like to deal with but doesn’t know how.
So when something external acknowledges these feelings he just... nope. goodbye
Kuro likes to write and create stories, so at some point, already bored with the lack of content, he starts to make his own “headcanon” and theories posts. Arguing with people and having discussions about me, what might be my possible next steps if i want to find my siblings, my plans, things i wouldn´t do. etc.
Later, he creates a RP blog of my character, but then remembers months later that he actually detests interacting with people, so he opts for writing stories, which he adamantly REFUSES call fanfiction.
Kind of took the “job” of debunking theories and popular headcanons, with proof, of course. He likes talking about me and he LOVES being right, it’s a win-win situation !
Writes really long posts about me, explaning my character arc with extreme detail, why did i do a certain thing and not the other. He also talks how did my actions reflect a certain part of my story that are worth exploring. Fancy pictures, dramatic italics, the whole thing, you know?
His posts are always interesting to read, though. He’s a good writer.
One particular day he wasn’t feeling so good, he wrote something that could be called a reader insert (but he definitely doesn’t call it that), where i’m doing the dishes and having an imaginary conversation in my mind with a character who is struggling with the same problems he is, comforting them and stuff.
Made it an habit to write about me comforting this hypothetical person when he’s dealing with difficult emotions. It helps him get back on his feet.
Has one article of clothing that is.. very similar to a jacket i wear in the series.
and a sweater
and some pair of gloves...
He also bought a plushie to have it as a reference whenever he needed to describe me in a story (i have a very complicated outfit in this parallel universe), but stll kept it even after it wasn’t necessary,  he occasionally likes to hug and squeeze it, or merely hold it when he’s  watching videos or reading something.
“It’s just a toy, it doesn’t have any emotional meaning” he says.
*brushes strand of hair off forehead so i don’t look sad*
*stops to pat my head every now and then*
:( *holds the plushie’s hand* :)
He just really really likes the texture, okay! jeez!!
but no seriously he has a crush on me
Shiro just goes on with the ride and doesn’t think too much about how he feels or why. He just knows he likes me and that’s enough for him.
Collects fanart and enjoys re-reading the source material once in a while.
LITERALLY RECOMMENDS IT  AT LEAST ONCE TO EVERYONE HE MEETS.
Somehow never runs out of things to say?? could talk about the series for hours, but he’s not saying things with substance and plot it’s more like a casual conversation.
He just likes talking about it.
Zones out thinking about me doing domestic stuff (sleeping, cooking or--his favorite--playing with a cat), sometimes imagines himself being there. Would rather die than to tell anyone it makes him happy.
Daydreams a lot.
Gets home and is somewhat upset his girlfriend isn’t there!! where are his kisses!! haha jk jk he doesn’t have a crush on a fictional character..
..... unless?
Doesn’t want people to find out about this because people tend to make fun of him or not take him seriously at all, so he covers it up by acting nonchalant.
“Yeah i like them a normal amount”
Is broke so he can’t afford merch, saves up for one lil figure of me and takes care of it as if it were one of his plants.
Has one-sided conversations with the figurine.
*to the figurine* “Hey, did i water my plants today? i can’t remember”
“I wonder how the shell of a lemon tastes like.... I have one in the fridge, should i eat it? for science? yes? no? alright, i’ll do it”
Writes posts about the series/me and shares them, they’re tend to be very nonsensical and funny, or downright cursed.
“Here’s some art i commissioned of Julia wearing a button up shirt with shorts and sandals :)”
His inbox is a mess because of this.
Likes to participate in conversations and add his two cents, but his favorite thing to do is send people (particularly Kuro) dumb questions just for the giggles.
anon: “how would julien react to their s/o having tapeworms? :)”
“I cannot phantom what kind of illness compels you to send me this.”
anon: “would julia read shrek x reader fanfiction?”
“GOD DAMMIT!!! NO!!”
Shiro got lowkey jealous thinking about me reading x reader stuff because it kind of implies me having a crush on someone else, he then had to mentally punch himself when he realized he was getting jealous of shrek.
Has one cactus he loves very much named Julia. It’s a pincushion cactus.

Survey #369
“so close, no matter how far  /  couldn’t be much more from the heart  /  forever trusting who we are  /  and nothing else matters”
What are three emotions you experience regularly? Sadness, shame, and stress. Is there someone right now whom you really wish would care for you? -___- Does your job allow visible tattoos? I don’t have a job, but quite honestly, I probably wouldn't take a job that didn't. I just love tattoos a lot and plan on having many, and ignorance and old-fashioned bullshit isn't gonna stop me. Do you know anyone that’s transgender? Yes. Do you think dress codes are unfair? In some places, like schools, yes. Are in a relationship? Tell me about it. I'm not. How is your road rage? I don't have road rage. By god does my sister, though. Favorite cosmetic brands? I don't wear makeup nearly enough to have a preference. The beach or the pool? The pool. I hate the feeling of sand, plus the salty wind and heat. Manga or anime? Anime. Favorites for manga? I've never read any. It's tempting to read Deadman Wonderland since it continues off the very short anime, but I just don't want to. Manga isn't my style. Favorites for anime? Fullmetal Alchemist (including Brotherhood), Ginga Densetsu Weed, and Deadman Wonderland. Favorite academic subject? English. A card game that you’re good at? I'm not exceptionally good at any. Do you eat breakfast? Pretty much always. A popular book you haven’t read yet? To Kill A Mockingbird, to name one I feel like everyone had to read in school. Do you like sweaters? I'm an oversized hoodie person, really. I don't like the look of zippers. Do you like sushi? Never tried it, never will. Do you wear prescription glasses? Yes. I badly need a new pair, because I can't see for shit. Generally, are you more likely to blame others or yourself for problems you experience? Myself. What is one thing about your life that you don’t ever see changing, even if you might wish it would? I have a feeling I'll always have some degree of social anxiety. I'm sure there are other things just not coming to me. At what point in your life have you been the most social or had the most friendships? And at which point have you been the least social? I had the most friends in my childhood years, probably. Or high school when I actually had a friend group. I'm sure I was most social as a kid in elementary school, not dealing with my social anxiety. I've been the least social like... now, honestly. I go essentially nowhere and have very few friends. Do you prefer to have a few close friends or a bunch of random acquaintances? Which would describe what you have now? I want close friends. I have like... two or so close friends and a handful of acquaintances. I don't know which I have "more" of when you consider the actual level of friendship/"quality" I guess. Do you journal? Generally, what do you write about? Do you find it helpful to get your thoughts out that way, or do you prefer another form of self-expression? I don't actually journal, but you could consider these surveys my "journal." I guess it's kinda why I do them so frequently? Like it lets me get stuff that's going on out, so I find it kinda therapeutic versus keeping all my thoughts jumbled up in my head. Have you ever been somewhere and REALLY didn't like a food that you were expected to eat? How did you deal with this? Are you someone who is likely to suck it up and be polite or refuse and save your taste buds? To start off, I am VERY bad at sucking it up and eating something I don't like. My gag reflex is very strong, and I'm also extremely sensitive to textures I don't like, so my reactions are just very involuntary. I can try to subdue my expression when I dislike something, buuut that's extremely difficult. But anyway, yes, I've been to places where I definitely disliked the food, especially this one occasion where we went to a local Southern cooking restaurant that literally ASSUMED you want the staple foods and sweet tea, none of which I enjoy. While everyone else was eating, I just very awkwardly sat there doing nothing and pretty much panicking over looking rude. Thank god, Ashley's father-in-law noticed and called over the waiter for me to actually order something, the way it should be. I was very thankful but still felt bad. What is one way in which you compare yourself to others? In this comparison, do you regard yourself as better or worse off than the people to whom you usually do the comparing? I am very bad and comparing successes with others, but only in ways that demeans me. Like I look at others and am just like, "Why aren't I there yet?" It always leads to anger and disgust of myself. What is something you’ve been particularly grateful for lately? I've thought a lot lately about how thankful I am to have my mom. She does so very much for me, and I don't think I could absolutely ever repay her in full. I wish I could. She's a damn superhero. What kind of change or opportunity would be the biggest help in your life right now? I was initially going to say getting a job, but thinking about it, getting to my goal weight might be an even greater help. It would help my leg pain, not having to carry as much around, I'm sure my hyperhidrosis wouldn't be as bad (I hope), and it would MASSIVELY affect my happiness. Like I cannot tell you how negatively my weight has damaged my self-esteem, confidence, and peace with myself. Is there one emotion that you experience more often than any other? Is there an emotion you rarely ever experience? I'd say I experience stress more than anything. I'm always thinking of something that's causing a ruckus in my life. A rare emotion for me is uhhhh jealousy, even though I've dealt with it more lately. What is one illness you are afraid of having? Do you know anyone who has faced this illness? The disease that I think scares me more than any is Alzheimer's/dementia. I just... cannot possibly imagine. How do you tend to behave when you’re sick? What kinds of things do you like people to do for you, if anything, to help you feel better? I'm very mopey and tired, and I can be a bit more irritable. I really, really appreciate help with things like chores when I'm not feeling well. When was the last time you did something you were proud of? Were other people proud of you as well? Does it matter to you whether or not other people care about your accomplishments, or is your own satisfaction enough? It's a very small thing, but I weaned down from having two cans of soda a day to just one. Mom is proud of me for it, which I appreciate a lot. Admittedly, it does kinda matter to me that those who know it's a big deal to me see and care about my accomplishments. I'm bad about needing external validation. What is your least favorite thing about the season you’re currently experiencing? Are you okay with most types of weather, or are you only happy under certain conditions? Ugh, the heat. Spring and summer are miserable to me because I veeery much love the chilly weather and no damn humidity. Have you made any changes to your style or “look” lately? How often do you change your appearance, hairstyle, fashion, etc? Or is it a pretty constant thing? No; my style is pretty constant. What was the last thing you felt hopeful about? Do you think there’s a good chance of whatever-it-is working out in your favor, or not so much? Getting a job at the tattoo parlor. I'm fearful that they won't be open to the position I'd like, so I'm trying to not get my hopes up too high. We'll find out in two days. Have you ever “recovered” from anything? What does “recovery” mean or look like to you? Yes, a traumatic breakup. I'd say recovery is just healing as much as possible from something, be it physical or emotional. What are some ways your childhood differed from those of others around you? Do you think this difference was harmful or advantageous in the long run? My dad was an alcoholic, if that qualifies. That definitely isn't a *normal* thing for someone's childhood. I think it was harmful, honestly, especially because I've had more than a few nightmares about my dad drunk. When was the last time you did something out in nature? Do you notice a dip in your mood when you don’t get enough of the Great Outdoors? Oh jeez... Probably not since Sara and I went catfishing with my dad. I wandered around with her some as she ventured for toads, haha. I don't really notice a dip in my mood, just because I'm so used to being indoors. I do prefer getting some time with nature, it's just hard and uncomfortable with how easy I sweat, and my knees sure do cuss me the fuck out in the form of a billion cracks if I walk much (by my standards...). What did you dream about last night? I had two dreams, but I only remember one, in which a giant green tree python was eating me backwards so I was conscious through it all. No hard feelings, I still want one as a pet, haha. They're GORGEOUS snakes and no, absolutely cannot eat you even if it tried its damnedest. What were your childhood dreams? To be a paleontologist, then a vet. What are your dreams now? If we're talking career-wise, to be a nature and wildlife photographer that gets to travel a lot. What are some Halloween costumes you would like to wear in the future? I've mentioned that #1 on my list is Ms. Oogie Boogie, then uhhhh... wow, I'm surprised I'm blanking, because I know there are lots I've thought of. Were you born with hair on your head? Yes. Would you rather have a home birth or hospital birth? I'm not having kids, but holy mother of fuck I'd have my baby at a hospital with a goddamn epidural. I do NOT know how some people can do it naturally, bigass props to them. Do you currently live in the house you grew up in? No. If not, what do you miss about it?^ It was just in general a nice house, the best one we've lived in. We had a pretty big yard too, so lots of room to play around as kids. What’s your favorite type of yogurt? I'm not a big yogurt person, really. What were your high school’s team colors? Red and white. Who were your best friends in high school? Hannia, Girt, Maria, Megan, Dennis, Dakota... What would be the best surprise you could receive right now? A tarantula. *puppy eyes emoji* Were there any subjects in school that were really easy for you? If so, what? English courses were very easy for me, and I was pretty good with science. Did you ever skip a grade or get held back a grade? Not like, a whole grade, but I surpassed Writing I in my last college endeavor and started out in Writing II instead. What’s your favorite rock band? Oh brother, you can't ask me this. Who’s your favorite country singer? I consistently like Tim McGraw a bit. How many drawers does your dresser have? My dresser is unnecessarily big. There's like five or six. Have you ever taken a picture at the perfect moment? Yes. One of my favorite pictures I've taken was at Ashley's gender reveal for Emerson; even she didn't know. When her husband pulled the fog thing and it was pink, her expression was just priceless. Was your first car used or new? I haven't had my first personal car. How did you discover your favorite band? By going through my mom's CDs when I was getting into rock music. Ozzy was the first truly metal and not rock band that I ventured into. What was the last big decision you made? BIG decision... I don't know. Probably dropping out of college. What is your favorite thing to go shopping for? I love window shopping for pets online, haha. What was the last thing you changed your mind about? A political stance. Who was the last friend you saw, and what did you do together? Oh yikes, it's been more than a while... It may have been Girt? In which case we probably watched TV or played board games together. Who tends to show up in your dreams? Do you ever wonder if you appear in anyone else’s dreams? Jason just loves to show up in my dreams more than anyone else. I don't really wonder that, no. What is something you wish you could say to someone who is no longer in your life, or something you wish they could know? I wish I could tell Bryar (Jason's friend I got in a fight with) I misunderstood something he said to me ("martyr" has two different definitions, and I somehow didn't know the modern one at the time) that made me seem like an absolute, attention-seeking bitch. It's so fucking embarrassing to look back on, because I agreed with him because I thought he meant it as I would die for my beliefs, which is true. What worries you most about your future? Whether or not I'll ever be in the physical shape I want to be in again. Or if I'll have a stable job. What is something you do to feel better when you’re scared? Find distractions, like funny YouTube videos. I also engage in deep breathing and grounding methods. What is the strangest book you have ever read? How did you find out about it? Oh my god, in elementary school, we read a book where everything a boy touched turned to chocolate. Weird book. Do you prefer to watch movies or tv alone or with other people? Is there anything you refuse to watch alone? Other people, definitely. I like having someone to talk to and comment on what we're watching. There's nothing I won't watch alone. What was the subject of the last video you watched? It was a let's play.

But I’m Weak
What was so wrong with being weak? Not everyone could be ridiculously strong after all.
Nino had always struggled with the extremes of being okay with who he was and what he felt the world wanted him to be. But he never thought that he’d have to feel that way with Alya…
————————————————————————
Nino bit back a sigh, arms crossed over his chest as he listened to Alya drone on and on like a CD that had gotten scratched and played a single sound on repeat for eternity. It wasn’t that he particularly hated listening to her rant. Heck, it was normally pretty inspiring. His girlfriend had passions that burned brighter than Paris itself and he greatly admired that.
But he wasn’t exactly a fan of some of her opinions when it came to… certain topics.
“It’s just- he’s so WEAK, Nino! Like, you’re facing LITERAL Satan here. I don’t think a friendship speech is gonna bring this bitch down. Sometimes you just have to let your fists do the talking, you can’t just…”
Weak. There was such a negative view on that word. To be weak was somehow seen as lesser, as though being unable to fight back was a particularly bad thing. Strength was so ridiculously glorified that it was honestly exhausting to constantly hear about it.
Sure, it was good to be able to defend yourself and fight back if shit went south, there was no arguing that. But what was wrong with wanting to be peaceful? With not wanting to be the one to deliver that first blow?
Nino himself had never been much of a fighter, and he knew he probably never would be. Outside of defending those he loved and cared about, being skilled at knocking someone’s block off just wasn’t his thing. Nor did he really want it to be. That’s what they had the rest of the heroes for, right?
Though he had decked Hawkmoth with his shield that one time….
To be fair, the man had DEFINITELY deserved it.
“- don’t even get me started on his moral fibre. This bitch has the backbone of a liquified jellyfish. ‘Oh, you’re sad about your mean step dad? Sure, we’ll go take him out for ya, it’s not like you spent THREE seasons trying to murder our asses and slaughtering LITERAL CHILDREN. We totally forgive you!’ Like, miss me with that garbage, you just have a weak ass moral code!”
Maybe Alya’s example there wasn’t all that great. But what was wrong with offering people second chances? Not everyone managed to start off as a good person. Not everyone could say their past was clean and that they’d always done their best to be the kindest or best versions of themselves.
Perhaps that one hit hard because Nino knew he hadn’t always been the person he was now.
Once he’d been bitter, been a quiet loner who kept to himself and didn’t bother to help those around him.
Once he hadn’t tried to see the good in others, hadn’t been a person much worthy of friendship.
Once he’d ignored bullies so he’d be left alone, had ignored when people were sad and had brushed off any attempts at friendship people had made.
It wasn’t easy, thinking back to the person he’d once been, who’d been so disillusioned with the world that he’d chose to use music to block it all out, to block everyone out. Of course that had changed when he had met Adrien. The guy was loyal and kind and had clearly been rather lonely, stuck with only Chloé as a friend and alienated by the rest of the class. Perhaps Nino had seen a little of himself in him? Being alone and not knowing how to really make connections. So he’d made an effort, and Adrien and him had been inseparable since.
Not only that, but those that had known him before, that he’d shrugged off or coldly ignored, had welcomed him with open arms. There had been no judgements for his past self, no need to prove himself. They’d simply accepted him with kindness.
How could that kind of forgiveness and empathy be so bad? Why was a weakness in holding a grudge seen as something negative?
“... and you know what? Here’s what frustrates me the most. I know it’s stupid, okay? But just let me rant here,” Alya continued on and Nino barely held back a snort.
“I can take him being a friendship babbler who always tries to talk down the villains. It’s corny, but whatever, it’s anime. I can take him inviting the baddie into the team. It’s a popular trope, I know, and people LOVE seeing the asshole redeemed. But you know what I CAN’T take?” she asked, her lips pursed in a tight and her brows knitted tighter still that he almost feared she’d bust a vein.
“Nope. Gonna have to enlighten me here, babe.”
There was beat of silence, done obviously for dramatic effect that had Nino rolling his eyes in an annoyance that had been slowly building since the beginning of this whole rant.
“The romance. It’s HORRIBLE. There’s nothing worse in a romance story than an unlikable romance,” Alya stated. “He’s so ridiculously weak when it comes to her! It’s pathetic and really, really painful to watch. How that’s anyone’s OTP I’ll never understand. It’s not sweet. It’s not cute. It’s just… sad.”
Ah. There it was. The part he’d been waiting for and dreaded hearing the most.
Because he could understand being frustrated with a pacifist. In a life or death situation you often had to act and act fast. Failing to do so meant the loss of life, and no one could root for that.
He could get why wanting the asshole to have a happy ending was annoying. Not everyone was redeemable and some assholes really didn’t deserve that kindness. Assholes like Hawkmoth, for instance.
But to rant with a flaring passion about how pathetic being weak when in love was? That really stung. It stung because he knew, without a doubt, that he was EXACTLY like that. Nino knew that love made him weak, in so many senses of the word.
It made him weak in the knees everytime Alya smiled at him, like somehow he was all she needed to brighten her day.
His breath weakened whenever she kissed him, her lips sweeter than any confection he had ever tasted.
When those pretty pools of toupe drifted over to him, and Nino could swear in those moments that he was witnessing the sun itself rising in those eyes that hypnotised him with such ease… his heart would skip a beat so dramatically he feared it would become weakened the process.
Not to mention how completely and utterly weak he was to her in general. How Alya’s laugh had him melting, how every little ‘I love you’ had Nino drifting off to his own personal heaven. How he couldn’t hope to say no to her when she came to him with excitement glowing, shimmering from each and every pore.
He adored her to the point of ridiculousness. To the point of weakness.
Was that so wrong? To love someone so dearly that it made you feel weak and defenseless, yet in all the right ways? As though you could afford to be that way, to push away the fears and insecurities to love wholeheartedly.
Why was that a bad thing?
Minutes passed as he dwelt on this, and Nino didn’t even notice how deep in thought he’d been until he felt his girlfriend poking his nose.
“Earth to Nino. You alright there, babe? You’re frowning hard. I mean really hard. Harder than when we saw that sci-fi flick last week,” Alya attempted to joke, although the concern was etched clearly into her features.
“The ending totally ruined the whole dystopian aesthetic they were goin’ for and was a lazy ass ass pull…” Nino muttered, his gaze dropping down to his lap. Yet even with his eyes off her, he could still feel her concern for him, could still feel her eyes on him, worried.
“But that’s not what’s bothering you now, right?”
His head shook and Alya shuffled closer, laying a hand over his clenched fists. Funny, how hadn’t he noticed he was doing that until now?
“... No.”
“Do you wanna talk about it? I think I used up more than my allotted chunk of words for the week, so I’m all ears,” Alya ushered, her voice so gentle and warm that Nino almost felt guilty for his own shit storm of feelings. Here he was, making her worry over a god damned anime rant. What kind of boyfriend was he?
“It’s… It’s dumb.”
“If it’s upsetting you then it isn’t dumb. I cried over burnt fries last week, remember? And you promised that shit wasn’t dumb.”
A weak chuckle escaped Nino’s lips, despite the swirl of negativity that still twisted harshly from deep within him.
“True, but I don’t have the excuse of my body throwin’ a fit over not having kids once a month and messin’ with my emotions,” Nino retorted, to which he earned himself a soft flick to the back of his hand.
That doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to get upset over that kind of stuff too. You wouldn’t let Adrien call his emotions dumb, would you?” A slow shake of her boyfriend’s head told her she’d won, and Alya had to really fight to keep the smug smile from her face. No, that would only make things worse right now.
“Nah. Of course I wouldn’t…” Nino muttered. “So I guess you’re gonna keep this up until I spill, huh?”
“Yep. So you better hurry up and talk, babe. Because I’ve got aaaaall day and nothing more important to do than listen to you.”
Ah, there she went, saying stuff like that so casually that it made him feel absolutely cruddy about making her worry in the first place. But Nino knew his girlfriend well, and Alya was a woman of staggering determination. If she wanted an answer, she nearly always get it.
So it was with a sigh that Nino finally gave in.
“... I’m weak, Als,” he admitted, in a voice so quiet and small that Alya had to lean in to properly hear it. “I’m not a fighter or strong. I believe in givin’ assholes second chances. Heck, I was one of them! And I…”
There was beat of silence, as Nino lifted his gaze and distressed gold fell upon Alya’s face.
“I’m weak to YOU. You make me weak each an’ every time we’re together, babe. I’m pretty much a living, breathing example of all that crap you hate. I- It makes me…” Nino trailed off, as the realisation of just why he’d been so hurt by her words dawned upon him.
“... It makes me wonder if you hate all that in me. If you hate those parts of me. That you…” That she no longer loved him. That was what he truly feared. Because if she hated those parts that he resounded so strongly with, didn’t it also make sense that she’d fallen out of love with him?
That maybe Alya had just stayed out of pity? Or because she was too nice and didn’t want to break his heart, even if she longed for someone far better than him, someone far stronger?
“... You might not love me anymore?” Nino finished in a broken whisper.
He hadn’t even realised he was crying until he felt Alya’s hand upon his cheek, tenderly brushing his tears away with the pad of her thumb.
“Nino…” she whispered, with such a guilt ridden sadness that only made him cry more. “Is that what you really think? That I secretly hate you? You, my wonderful, gorgeous, kind, loyal, selfless, adorable, brilliant, dorkishly amazing boyfriend?”
There was no judgement in her voice, no teasing or sarcasm or snark. Only a lulling sincerity as she pulled Nino into her arms and held him tight as his silent sobs soaked her shoulder.
“I could never hate you. I don’t need you to be some amazingly kick ass hero with muscles like Chat Noir or a killer left hook like Ladybug. You’re already amazingly brave and courageous… Not everyone needs to be a fighter and you’re the protector this city needs. That I love,” Alya said, her voice gently firm and flooded with a love so warm that it only served to make Nino cry harder.
“I never knew you back when you were an ‘asshole’. I only got to meet you when Adrien did, and the Nino I’ve always known has been the warmest person that I’ve ever been lucky enough to meet. But even if you were an asshole before, that doesn’t mean you aren’t deserving of friends. I… sorry if I gave you the impression that I thought that about everyone. You know I hold grudges and that’s a me thing I have to work on, not a you thing, okay?” She felt Nino nod weakly in her arms, and in turn Alya pressed a feather light kiss to the crown of his head.
“... And I- … I wasn’t talking about weakness like that. Nibuimaru lets Sonshōko beat the living shit out of him without a single complaint! He doesn’t even seem upset by it. It’s like for him, that’s how chicks are. And it’s played for laughs that’s it’s all cute and that kind of stupid shit, like ‘aww, look how weak she makes him!’. That’s not cute. That’s a weak ass relationship based on abuse,” Alya stated, only pausing to hold Nino just that bit tighter or as she felt the shakes of his sobs rock her. It was honestly heart breaking, to know that her ridiculous rant about some shitty anime Adrien had recommended had caused him so much pain and doubt.
“I’m just as weak for you as you are for me. You know that, right? And there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s real cute how smitten you are with me, and those stupidly love sick puppy looks you send my way… They make my heart flutter and my stomach does flips like Ladybug on a sugar high… I could never hate that. I could never hate you, Nino,” she whispered, and her aching heart clenched as Nino finally looked up at her, glasses smudged from all the crying, cheeks tears and eyes all red and puffy. What was worse was that desperately hopeful look in his eyes, as though he had truly feared that she no longer loved him and he was clinging to her every word.
…. For how long had these thoughts been kicking around in the back of his mind? Alya didn’t know, nor did she care. Because from this moment on she swore she’d make Nino feel every bit as loved as he had for her, as he continued to do each and every day, even when he was feeling cruddy.
Never again would he have to doubt that really loved him.
“I love you. I love you so GOD DAMNED much, okay? I’m sorry I had you doubting that…” Alya finished, and before she could even hope to verbalise her promise Nino’s lips were against hers in a wet and desperate kiss. It was one she returned full heartedly, pouring every ounce of love and affection she held for the guy in her arms into it, just hoping it would reach him and somehow ease his fears and pains if her words had failed to.
It was minutes later when Nino broke away, a damp yet genuine smile now pulling at his lips, that Alya finally felt that things might be alright between them once more.
“I love ya too, Alya. So freakin’ much,” Nino rasped on out, as Alya pulled him back on into her all encompassing embrace. “You… You really meant all that?”
“Every word of it. So you’re weak. Who cares? I don’t need some macho, masculinely fragile, eternally perfect meathead. You’re everything I want and need, babe. I promise that.”
His heart fluttered with joy and he practically melted into Alya’s arms. In that moment, even if it would take a while to fully squash his doubts, he felt safe.
He was weak. What was wrong with that?
Nothing, Nino thought. Nothing at all.
